Paper assignments were not clear and she didn't offer any help at all. Do not take her it is a waste of time.
Ms. Bledsoe is a great professor. She initially comes off as a little bit shy but is super nice, easy going, well read and interesting. I don't know what the other poster was talking about because all you had to do was ask for help and she was there. And she's hot. Her hotness score is too low!!
alot of work writing papers but she helps you alot and really pushes you to be a better writer. she's kinda strict but is really fair about your grades
Her class was very boring and at times it felt like I was in elementary school again, going over common sense stuff. She did offer help with the papers, but her comments when grading were sometimes ridiculus. She wants more than is often possible to give.
VERY boring and she has difficulty leading good discussion, which is all the class is and therefore resulting in meaningless conversations btwn those students who love to hear themselves speak but only have half a brain
Ms. Bledsoe comes off shy in the begining, but she is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She honestly cares about her students and she is a very smart woman. Take her if you have a chance!
Great teacher, great class
No Comments
Not the greatest professor ever. She's not very good at communicating or controlling her class.
horrible class!!!!! she doesnt really seem to know that much about her topic... contridicts herself a lot... awful lectures.. dont take her!
She is a very helpful proffessor. The key is to go to her individually with your questions. Take her class!
Bledsoe IS a really good teacher and she will teach you how to write no matter what class it is. You will have to work hard if you want an A, or even a B. She is brilliant at detecting bull ****, so don't try it. Produce quality and she'll grade accordingly.
mmmmyea... not great at all. her happy, mad, and anything else is very much the same. extremely monotone and rather boring. very hard to stay awake... she does grade pretty easy though, shes nice-just not a great teacher
I did not like this class. I tried hard and still did not do good. She does not explain things clear. She also grades very hard. Her voice is very monotone and she seems to pick favorites.
HARD CLASS
This course was based too strongly on group projects. I cannot recall a single class where she taught us even half of the time. Although she is a kind woman and has a strong grasp on her own knowledge of the texts & subject it wasn't really conveyed in the classroom. I think this class had the potential to be very fun and interesting but it wasn't.
Ms. Bledsoe is amazing! She is ALWAYS willing to help you out with ANYTHING, especially MLA papers. We had 4, and the first one was on the summer reading, so GET THAT DONE! Very easy to talk to and very laid back. Just make sure you do the work!
yes, she might have a monotone voice and might not be the most interesting teacher but she is the direcor of the writing center- her grading her fair and helpful. she's willing to help anyone who does their work so you actually need to put forth effort. if you take her, be prepared for essay after essay
Tough class. Could've been easier with better teaching strategies. Very monotone and seemingly uninterested in our grades. Grading was strict and after all was done, she did little to assist us if the grade was poor. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROFESSOR!!!
She can be strict, but if you get on her good side, she is very nice. I always came to her, and showed her I was interested in the class, and she was always willing ot help me. I got like a 97 in the class, and all because I kept asking her for feedback and did all my work. Don't complain
I learned alot in her class, she really knows her stuff. However, due to her strict grading, it's very hard to earn an A in her course. I regret not taking an easier ENC1101 teacher to earn higher overall gpa.
Professor Bledsoe is great! You will learn so much that will help you in the future.
Generally pretty clear expectations, though there was one instance of a project not listed on the syllabus that we were expected to do. Grading was fair and class meetings were always productive, she even let us out of class early (though this was in exchange for good, well-thought discussions and the elimination of breaks). ALWAYS do the reading.
Wonderful teacher!Although her class is not easy she really takes the time to help you.Her expectations are clear and your grade is really up to you. The more you participate and complete your assignments the better grade you with obtain. She does not give tests or final exams however, some quizzes on the material you read in class.Highly suggest!!
Great easy professor if u attend class and participate in class she will like you and help you. Hard to understand what she wants since there is no prompt but once you figure out that she lets you write about what you want which makes the writing so much easier
Ms. Bledsoe teaches composition 2 somewhat interesting. You will learn basic theory about writing essays from the textbook content and apply these to your own essays! You are allowed to come up with topic ideas and the guidelines are clear and stated on handouts! She is the head of the writing center and gives extra credit if it's visited
Ms. Bledsoe creates the class somewhat interesting. 4 assigned essays with clear guidelines, possible own topic choice, peer review sessions for final one, extra credit for writing center visits. Theory about essay styles from textbook, then application in own writing
She wasn't a bad professor, but she wasn't great either. She required out-of-class readings that we would then discuss for most of the next class, or we would, if anyone participated. Instead of taking a hint that this curriculum structure was not exactly working, she instead started calling people off the roster like we were in high school.
Her tests are tough, but after the first exam I got perfect scores on the rest. You have to actually do the readings assigned to know where to look for the answers. Her tutorials and videos outlined exactly what is expected for the writing assignments. I'm pretty good at writing to begin with so I didn't get many points off for spellinggrammar
She's fairly nice, sometimes she comes off as passive aggressive but maybe that's just her monotone voice. She gives you a chance to make up grades if you miss class. Honestly, she's an easy A if you come to class, participate, and try to write decent essays. I got a high B but that only because I missed one class and didn't make the grade up
Ms. Bledsoe is very monotone and her class is pretty boring. She assigns 3 papers 2 of them 3-5 pages and 1(7-9). She can seem kind of rude at times but she is fairly nice. She grades pretty fairly. You have reading assignments before pretty much every class. Wouldn't take her again
Good professor. Be ready to complete readings before class for discussion. Class participation is encouraged. Total of 4 papers --- three - 3-4 pages, and one final 5-6 pages paper. Prepare to write paper after paper, and complete peer reviews throughout the semester. Go see her during her office hours.
She is a great teacher. Three papers are given throughout the semester. She is very specific and guides students with their papers to make sure they're on track for what she wants. She gives easy extra credit, and keeps the class pretty chill. Only a few quizzes.
Honestly if youre actually trying to learn dont take this teacher. She talks like she has a broken jaw and she has terrible lectures. Gives a ton of busy work and grades hard
Doesn't use the textbooks much, but the readings are useful. She doesn't grade papers super harshly. Food is allowed in class unless it's a problem. Attendance is recommended but not mandatory, especially at the end of the semester. If you have her in the morning, bring coffee. Very nice, if you're on her good side. Lots of good clear feedback.
Very boring class, takes comp 1 very seriously if youre really interested in writing then this is the class for you
She knows what she's talking about, she gives a broad topic for the essays and allows you to picks a specific one within it. Not a harsh grader unless you obviously disregard requirements. There are 3 papers total, now and then a quiz on the reading, and lots of chances for discussion and chances to get feedback on papers.
You read almost every night for homework from 10-20 pages and then get a quiz on that next day. The quizzes are really annoying. She is a good teacher but not the best.
Miss Bledsoe is an amazing professor who is willing to go out of her way to help you succeed in this course. She does give a lot of reading, but the textbook is an easy read and the material is important. She is very kind and gives great feedback on your papers! She will also get them back to you in a timely manner. I absolutely recommend her!
I took this professor because alot of the review on here said she was easy. SHE IS NOT AN EASY GRADER. I took her over the summer and not only was she super strict but she was also never even in her office. She just makes you go to the writing center for help with your paper and she doesn't help you herslef.
She's just kind of weird and passive aggressive. You can tell she gets annoyed with the class when we don't know the answers to questions and she doesn't seem like she really enjoys giving feedback. If this is your first time in college I would HIGHLY recommend taking a different professor for comp.
Professor Bledsoe was pretty average. Not horrible but not amazing either. Honestly if you put in effort and already have basic writing skills you should do well! She does give good feedback, but her canvas messages are a little passive and intimidating.
Great professor. Had 3 papers throughout the semester and each one came back with a better score. She will proof-read your papers for you and provide feedback that I have taken advantage of big-time. Totally recommend this professor
Ms. Bledsoe was nice enough; however, was a ridiculously tough grader. I have been in AP english courses and gotten As but passed with a B. I would not recommend her; she was not helpful and hates when no one participates. She is very rigid in her grading and made me actually dislike writing; something I have always loved.
Every class you're assigned a reading to be quizzed on for the next class. She's a good professor and definitely helped me improve my writing I just wouldn't take her again because it seemed like everyone else I talked to had their comp 1 way easier than I did. She drops the lowest quiz score and you lose points for not showing up.
This class is already the hardest thing you'll ever take- you FOR SURE do not want to take it with Bledsoe. She never answers emails, can't help you when you have questions, and just tells you to go to the writing center. Never NEVER take this prof, especially for an online class. WORST. PROF. EVER.
If your a business major you are gonna have to take this class so DONT take it with Bledsoe. She is super hard to even get ahold of and I don't think she was even the one grading our papers. The feedback makes no sense and if you want to go to her office hours good luck finding her cause she won't be there.
She doesn't tolerate lack of participation. You will lose points for talking, using phone, or not being present. She knows the names of all her students. She gives fair reminders on what is due for the next class and the syllabus says it all as well. You could probably get away with not doing the reading but you should have a comment or 2 ready.
The comment below sums it all up--if you do the bare minimum of showing up to class and doing your work, you'll pass the class. Doesn't mean she's a good professor. If you do have to take Bledsoe for Comp, just keep your head down and go to tutoring.
Just not a great prof. Take someone else.
Super hard class and you can't meet with the person grading your papers. If you have to take this class take it with someone else.
you do tons of reading before class and then the only thing she does with it is quiz you. really annoying amount of busy work. she gives okay feedback but you can really tell who she does and doesnt like in the class. dont take her if this is your first college class.
This is by far the worst class I have ever taken. I usually get As and Bs, but barely passed this class with a C. The assignment guidelines are somehow both SUPER specific and not really clear at all. If you email this professor for clarification, she just tells you to read the guidelines again. Take a different professor for this class.
TERRIBLE PROFESSOR. Seriously takes the class way too seriously and doesnt give good feedback AT ALL. I went to her office hours for every paper and still got terrible grades. If you want to actually get something out of your comp class, dont take this professor!!!
Worst class ever and worst professor ever. I'm a financial account major and I thought finance professors were tough- they're nothing compared to this class! Blesdoe basically told me that she couldn't help me with my writing because she wasn't the one who graded the papers. If you have to take prof writing, don't take it with Bledsoe.
I know online classes are supposed to be hard, but this class was ridiculous! All of the teaching is online modules, which makes it really hard to ask the professor questions. When I went to her office hours, she just told me to review the canvas modules, and couldn't even help me with my questions! For sure take this class with someone else.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. All the work is just canvas modules and she can't help you if you have questions. If you go to her office hours she just seems like she's annoyed at you for being there. If you have to take this class like I did then don't take it with this teacher.
You have to do tons of reading for this class and she gives lots of random quizzes. You can tell she's annoyed when it seems like some of the class didn't tread but she just acts passive aggressive with people if that happens. Annoying professor don't take her if you can avoid it.
I took this professor because my advisor recommended her for Education majors. I don't know why - all we did that was education related was read a bunch of articles about education topics. Honestly, it wouldn't have been such a bad class if I hadn't been told that it would be more useful for my major than it was.
If you think camp 1 is hard then DO NOT take comp 2 over the summer with this profesor. The class is only 6 weeks and the whole thing is a nightmare. Terible teacher and terible assignments. You barely have any time to the stuff.
I know going from high school to college writing is supposed to be hard but this was rediculous! Bledsoe grades super hard and only gives you useful feedback if you go to her office hours and she only meets with you, if you can go to her normal hours. i worked during her office hours so I could never, go to see her.
DONT take this professor for a summer course. There is not enough time for everything and she doesn't get your first paper graded before the second paper is due so you don't have any feedback for what to work on.
I know that I'm not a great writer but I really am trying to improve now that I'm in college. That being said Professor Bledsoe really didn't make me feel like she cared if I improved or not. It was like she decided right at the beginning that I wasn't a good writer and wasn't worth her time which really sucked.
Terrible prof, take the class with somone else
Some of the reviews on here are a little harsh, but honestly she's just an okay teacher. Classes are pretty boring and she doesn't really seem like she likes meeting with students for peer reviews, but the class isn't too hard.
I took this class online and it went pretty well. The only thing was that she and the TA are tough graders, you need to make sure you are precise to what she wants in each writing assignment.
She's really specific about what she wants but she doesn't give very clear feedback to help you do the assignments well. I even went to her office hours and talked about the paper with her, but I still got a lower grade than I was expecting. I wouldn't take her for this class if you can help it.
I enjoyed having Bledsoe as my instructor for ENC 1102. In my case, her feedback was very helpful when revising essays. She quizzes students on the readings every class to help motivate students to do the hw. Dont be afraid to participate in class, she doesnt ridicule wrong answers. Participation is also part of the midterm/final grades.
I took this class online and it was super tough. I don't know if it was the professor or just the class itself, but after looking through the reviews here I wonder if its not the former. The most helpful review has multiple dislikes and the positive comments are few and far between. Hedge your bets and take someone else, if you can.
She's just super average as a teacher. The only people who really find her helpful are people who already know how to write. If you are not a super confident writer then I would not take this professor for comp (especially since the class is required). Take one of the higher rated teachers.
I know this was a tough semester, but I still don't think I would take this professor again. I even like writing but writing papers for this class was just a chore.
The class wasn't hard, but when you're learning online you really need a professor who answers her emails - and Bledsoe definitely does not. If you can take class on campus she's probably fine, but don't take her if its online (unless you are okay with never getting questions answered).
This professor is NOT GOOD. Doesn't answer emails and is confusing when she does. The class is online which makes it hard enough. Her feedback is confusing and doesn't always make sense. If it wasn't for the writing center I would have failed this class. Take Dieppa if you can.
I am not down with the semester but i don't think I am going to pass this class. The professor is a NIGHTMARE!!!!!
I know I am not a good writer but seriously!!!! I hated this class!!! She is mean!!!!
not good
Professor was merciless when graded her paper. On top of that she would give terrible feedback. Papers were graded super late, therefore the same mistake would be repeated. I was hanging on by a thread in this class. Avoid her if possible. If not, may the odds ever be in your favor.
I took her class online due to Covid. There are 4 major papers and quizzes that are counted the most. You have a few weekly assignments. She will help you if you are confused about your topic or the papers. Overall a pretty easy course as long as you put in the work.
Bledsoe is the worst professor ever! you will never get a perfect score on any assignment it doesn't matter if the assignment was to submit your name and turn it in she will find something wrong about it! Worst grader ever! awful at giving feedback on essays. I will never take her ever again. Do yourself a favor and take this class with anyone else
I found her to be responsive by email and fair when grading. Not easy, but fair. I learned a lot with the material she used, and the fast pace was perfect for me.
Was a good course and learned a lot from it. Pretty straight forward for the most part. The only thing about this course that was difficult in my opinion was the work load. You have to keep up with your work and activities to do well on the papers.
Terrible teacher, would avoid at all costs, these reviews and rating are very accurate! Tough grader , your work will never be good enough to her standards and has an attitude 24/7. My grade only went lower the further in the semester to which made me drop the class. 10/10 would not recommend, save yourself the pain and time, never had a break!
Would highly recommend to not take her
There is basically no useful info to learn in this class. The entire class is just memorizing arbitrary ways to write and then they grade papers extremely harshly on that. I got 20% off one assignment because I use i instead of I one time.
It is impossible to get an A in this class. I ended the semester with a C and my highest grade on a paper was a low B. I got an above average grade on every paper we did and still ended with a C-. Very tough grader and a lot of work. I do not recommend the class or teacher to anyone. You can tell she does not care if the students pass or not.
Very harsh grader so I highly suggest you take advantage of all the extra credit opportunities, like going to the writing lab and participating in peer reviews, if you want to get a good grade. She is very meticulous in grading and will find the smallest error and dock you points. I managed to get an A but I spent a lot of time working on her class
She is an extremely tough grader. I managed low B's on all of the written assignments with only 2-3 minor feedback notes for the paper. Make sure you go into as much detail as possible for the fictional writing assignments or you'll lose points for that too. Canvas course is also set up horribly, I would just avoid taking her if you can.
Papers are graded toughly, but she requires amazing feedback if you submit things on time allowing you to make changes. Quizzes are hard and don't really make any sense.
Carol Bledsoe is a wonderful instructor who has an incredibly well-structured class. She builds on concepts gradually and has plenty of resources to help you succeed. I truly felt I earned the grade I received in this class, and I am a better writer because of her help. If you follow her syllabus and instructions, you should do well.
She is so nice, I signed up for her class next semester. I missed class once, and the next time I was there, she had the papers I missed printed out for me (will send them online too). She will print out any paper that needs to be brought to class for you. Assignments are incredibly easy, but I actually learned a lot from her feedback and classes.
