Great instructor. Teaches more material than other Microbiology instructors, so much tougher. Although entertaining, my preferance is for instructors who have study guides posted on their web sites & she does not post. Very fair. Exams based on her lectures, so no surprises. Not an easy "A."

I had her for micro in fall 2005 and I just graduated from ADN program, up until now the things I learned in her class is still fresh in my head, she makes class interesting, explain everything clearly and test from her notes, micro is hard but she makes it easy, i got an A in her class.

Mrs. Crowder is the sweetest teacher but her class is extermely hard and time consuming. She is more concerned with getting all the info anticipated for the day than making sure you understand. There are quizzes everyday except on test days. No reviews or brief overview before test day she explains it once and thats it.

Microbiology is FUN!!! Crowder is an AWESOME professor. You will learn more than you ever thought you could and you will LOVE it! This course really prepares you for a health care career. Low lecture exam can be replaced with the final exam and low lab practical can be replaced with a lab final. Lab quizzes add up to one lab practical grade.

This is a very hard class. If you want to make an A don't take other classes and don't work. This professor loves to hear herself talk, her lectures are long and strictly from her books that she wrote. If you miss a class you will fall behind. Her tests are long and there are no test reviews. She treats you like you are in elementary school.

First off, this class is not easy. First lecture exam grade I received was a 46. After that I buckled down and studied with any free time I had and ended up with a B. Mrs. Crowder is pretty cool I guess but she DOES know what she is talking about. I learned more in this class than I have in any other class that I have taken so far.

I started off intimidated by this course but by the end of the semester I changed my major to biology. Not an easy course, but a VERY helpful and COLORFUL professor. This class is one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. Lots of time spent studying . Labs are interesting and fun, very interactive. The lecture puzzles are life... and should be used as a studying tool. Don't forget to study for this class. Teacher is clear and helpful.

This class is pain in the neck. 4 test 125 points each, quiz every class, 3 lab prac, final is 200 pts including the 4th test. This is not a easy class. The extra credit doesn't even help that much. I wouldn't recommend this prof.

One of the best teachers i have ever had. The only reason why people are commenting negatively is because they did not study enough for her class. At the very beginning of the semester she gives you a list of EVERYTHING that will be on the final exam. She also gives you plenty of extra credit opportunities on your exams and drops your lowest test.

Crowder is an amazing professor! She is very helpful. After each exam she gives students the opportunity to reflect with her. She also provides hand out packets instead of assigning chapters to read in a textbook! Her lectures are engaging and easy to follow. I went to a different location (farther from home) to take her and it was well worth it!

This class is for health careers. I made A grades bc I studied HARD without much sleep; it's very TIME CONSUMING. Sacrifices have to be made if you're taking this course and if you can't deal with it now at LSC, good luck at a university. Sciences will be hard no matter what and Mrs C tries her best to present it well and help her students.

I LOVED THIS CLASS and I LOVE Crowder. She is hilarious and the course is fascinating--Micro is HARD but she gives up to 10 points extra credit on each test. I actually live closer to Kingwood but she is worth the drive. Study for every test and quiz--that 200 plus question final is BRUTAL! You cannot slack at all in this class if you need an A.

Crowder is terrible. I think these reviews are bogus. She will fail you and no amount of studying is enough. For one test, she will post 5 videos and say to watch each one at least 30 times. Stay away from this woman because she isn't a good teacher and she will destroy your GPA. You have been warned.

She's nice, but her teaching style not so much. There are A LOT of tests and quizzes and almost all of them are very hard. Micro is a very hard class and she doesn't make it any easier. She doesn't post any grades on D2L. Make sure to study HARD with whoever you take, but I do not recommend her.

Do not take her she will give you bonus questions say that the crossword puzzle helps which is not true. This professor will say each time you take the test "that the next one will be better" which is misleading ,just so you do not drop her class. There is no excuse for anyone making below a C in this class, but if you do, you are NOT nursing school material! Mrs. Crowder bends over backwards to help students who want to learn. Do not take this course if you do not plan on making it a priority. You will have to work VERY hard for your grade, but an A is manageable. on her test there are two possible right answers which makes you confuse, quizzes everyday, lectures are interesting but at the same time you get bored takes half of your lab time lecturing. She will tell you that you can still pass her class, only so you do not drop her class. Very misleading. Exams and quizzes are very confusing and tricky. Would not recommend.

The class is difficult regardless who you take it with. She gives so many extra credit opportunities to help you with your grade. She provides you with all the material you need to pass. (Audio lectures, PP of the labs). Her lectures a great and couldn't imagine taking this class with anyone else.

Professor Crowder is so amazing and funny! Her lectures are interesting and clear. She provides everything that you need for the class and so much extra credit. If you want to pass, you can't slack off. It's not a hard class, just very time consuming. It's all about memorization and putting things together. Best microbiology professor.

Beware of taking this class in 6 weeks. The last test is a combination of 2 tests - the final exam & the final unit. The final unit is 100 pages and the time constraint makes it nearly impossible to do well. You could still be saved by her EC and lowest grade replacement, which I was. But, why take a gamble?

I love Carol Crowder. I wish she was the Nursing school director. She is brilliant. She encourages us, she is the best teacher I have ever had. She really cares and it shows. She breaks everything down to where you can understand it. I love Mrs. Crowder.

Mrs. Crowder is the jewel of Lone Star. I have never had a teacher like her, she prepares you for exams with the utmost of sensitivity and makes learning the material enjoyable. She is a precious soul. She reminds me of a person that I would love to become. She has encouraged us and enabled us to succeed. The work is challenging, but achievable.

Mrs. Crowder gives you everything you need to pass and excel in her class. I have grown so much as a student and a person since being taught by her. Everything on the exams is in the coursework, and she gives TONS of extra credit. She is delightful to listen to and really takes time to explain the processes of microbiology. So grateful for her.

Great teacher. Informative, easy to understand since she explains everything well. I have had other biology teachers who did not do a quarter of what she does to help us. Would definitely recommend.

This class is HARD but she made it as easy as she can without just handing out A's. You have to study every note, crossword and lecture powerpoint to do well but she gives you all the tools needed to do well. Lots of extra credit. You don't want to miss a class because the amount of notes is very heavy and hard to catch up on if you miss them.

Professor Crowder is the best teacher I've had in my 2 years at Lone Star. I cannot believe how much I've learned this semester. I feel better prepared for nursing school and the healthcare arena. Her class was a joy and a privilege. She deserves high praise. I was honored to have been taught by her. Do yourself a favor and take Prof. Crowder.

Prof. Crowder follows her syllabus reliably and is a fast grader. Everything you need is provided. I had a biology teacher last semester (Allen)-inferior in every way to Crowder. Crowder does not insult students or belittle them. She uplifts. I can see why her reputation dazzles, while others (Allen) are hated. Avoid Allen like HIV. Take Crowder.

She is a great professor but very thorough. You must study from day one! Test are hard with between 150-200 questions. Do the crosswords she has for review and end of lab questions. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE! You can pass if you put in work. She gives extra credit on each test which are fill in the blank. I would of made a better grade if I studied more

Crowder's class is VERY Very hard. I studied really hard and did not come close to a good grade. Her lectures and labs were not boring, it was just a lot. There is also a quiz almost every single day. Tests are between 150-250 questions, including multiple choice and short answer part. If you want an A you have to study every single day for it!

She is the hardest professor Ive ever had. Her tests are like 120-200 questions! A lot of us were struggling the whole semester even with all the extra credit! I studied every day and night and could never get a high grade. Im normally a straight A student, but did not even get close to an A. Shes nice, but really HARD!!

Tough but u will be proud of what u gain! She is genius, dedicated, inspiring, prepares EVERYTHING for u! She makes microbiology so much FUN! Quote on class door: "Beyond this line, only positive attitudes are accepted". Study DAILY! Develop ur own strategies to understand and memorize materials. I work 50+hr/week ,have a kid, got A. You can do it.

Carol Crowder is a funny, respectful, and inspirational teacher. She is the absolute best when it comes to teaching Microbiology. This is class is difficult no matter who you take, but Ms. Crowder makes the class fun and positive. You have to study a lot because there is so much information. This class is difficult but its not impossible.

She is very informative. The tests are about 125qs, but you are given enough time to take them. Makes real world connections to lectures and labs are fun. However, take this class by itself if you can as it is very rigorous and mainly based off of tests no assignments.

Prof Crowder is amazing! It was honor to learn from her. Set yourself up for success in the beginning so you will be rewarded in the end. Listen to her audio recordings, do quizlet, and CWPs. You have a lab quiz everyday but it's not that bad. Repetition is key to passing this class! Good Luck!

MICRO isnt impossible, or easy. SHE IS OUTSTANDING! this is new world &ur study tools for A&P (memorization instead of knowing) will get u about a C IF that. KNOWING the info is PASSING. She has powerpts on D2L you can go over before class that she lectures frm. USE THIS if u feel completely lost. Study like you want it! COVID-19 didn't stop my A+!

Pretty hard class because of so much information, but it is doable! There is a quiz at the beginning of each day! Tests are so long, but there are a couple of extra credit questions! READ, READ, READ, AND RE-READ!! This information will stick if you read over it a couple of times. You will be fine if you do the crossword puzzles !! Good Luck!

I loved Professor Crowder! She breaks everything down to ensure students understand the material. If you study, do the crossword puzzles, and Quizlet, you'll be successful! If you want an A, you have to work for it and make sure you understand the material instead of memorizing things.

She was so terrible, I created an account just to warn others not to take her. I took her online & she emailed me THREE times berating me for not putting 8hrs a day into her class. Ironic because now it is a day before classes end and she does not have a single grade in. Her tests are DREADFUL too. She will give you 200 question tests twice a week!

Pure delight. Took her before RN program, I'm in last semester now. All she taught me completely prepared me for what was to come. She is, to this day-my FAVORITE teacher. I've heard her voice ringing in my ears, guiding me, in clinicals, exams, and lecture. She's helped me beyond what I could ever repay. You're privileged to take her. Love <3GB

Professor Crowder is really sweet and she's funny but her course is very difficult. She had 3 lab exams, 4 lecture exams and a final (which included exam 4). The tests can take 3-5 hours long and memorizing the info without actually understanding it will hurt you so STUDY! Also, her exams are due the same weeks as the nursing program exams.

This professor is the worst professor and have a control problem. If youre familiar with the lockdown browser, as soon as you exit an exam, you'll have you score for that exam. This lady manually enters your grade, and i honestly think she is deducting points at her own benefit. her exams are 3 hrs long, lots of work and it feel like its a setup

ridiculous teacher. to much work, just unnecessary and she gets a kick out of seeing her students fail.

Ok so her class is VERY VERY IN DEPTH! You have to study, I'll admit I didn't study as much as I needed to, so I scraped by with a C. However I love the structure of the class, and her lectures are so funny! After every exam she emailed me and told me what to focus on to do better! I really loved her class and really did learn!

The professor is honestly an amazing professor. I could've easily gotten an A if I had paid more attention and not leaving things last minute. Her jokes were actually funny and I really enjoyed having her. Yes, the class is heavy, so do not expect it to be easy. I recommend you take micro as the only class if you work and/or have kids.

Although shes a good teacher, this course is a lot of work. Her tests are an absurd amount of questions. 150 question exams and the final was around 250 questions. Most extra credit comes from the bonus questions in each exam and theres a separate test where u can gain up to 30 points that go towards the overall grade for the class.

Too many questions on exams/labs it will take you about 3 hours for each test good luck

I tried my hardest, after that first Lecture Exam, I checked out of this class. If you follow the PowerPoints and read the lab manual she made then you will be fine. Summer classes are fast, I would suggest you don't work, in order to get an A+. I work full time, so I was exhausted from work and couldn't keep up with all her demands.

Professor Crowder was a good professor, however this class was extremely overwhelming. If you work during the summer, do not take the 5 week course. The tests are at least 120 questions each (both lecture and lab exams), and they are the only things that make up your grade. This was the most stressful and time consuming class I have ever taken.

I loved Professor Crowder. She is very lecture heavy tho. There is lots of reading to do and you have to put a lot of energy into this class. I wouldnt recommend taking multiple classes with this one, especially science heavy. I !! very!! much recommend using the given textbooks. Cramming will definitely not work in this class

okay so there is hardly any extra credit. I only barely passed bc I took the only extra credit she offered. The lecture test are like 300 questions the lab 200. You def need the manual for the lab I didn't though. You CAN'T go back on questions its 1 question at a time. the lect final was i think 400 500 questions. She doesnt reply to your emails.

Yea she was tough on READING everything like 4x and KNOWING the material, she does the favor of putting all her PowerPoint in packets to save us textbook $$$. SUPER HILARIOUS and had many comics and puns to help keep you going. Honestly as I'm listening and working the packet I sometimes color in the cartoons she prints for us :') Do the puzzles!!!

Professor Crowder is an amazing teacher! Learned so much this summer! I took her for Summer II-it's definitely a lot of work! I studied anywhere from 5-7 hours a day, so I would not recommend this class if you have a job. But if you are prepared to study, go through the power points multiple times, and do the crosswords you will do great!
