Strange lady, but easy class
very unclear and unhelpful
The multiple choice exams are designed to make you fail. Strange lady.
Tests are hard, lectures are impossible. AVOID!
She gets off as a weird feminist, but she teaches well, and is friendly.
clear, concise.. might be a bit too focused on terminology, but very nice.
hard to stay concentrated in class!
Made her political orentation clear. BAD IDEA for ANY polisci teacher.
Extremely nice, very professional, yet rather hard course. Exam was impossible.
pleasant and easy to deal with.... i liked her
Excellent professor. Well organized and clear. Does not tolerate fools.
fairly easy to understand but almost all lectures had a feminist tint to them...

too much note taking involved
I found her to be very unclear and very unfair in marking.
A great teacher, as mentioned previously, does not suffer fools lightly... know your stuff and don't go off on idiotic tangants and you'll do fine
She doesn't explain things thoroughly. She constantly talks about the history of a concept, the implications of the concept, etc, without even defining it first! This makes organized note-taking very difficult!
Overall a good teacher, but a very hard marker. It appears that she does not take into consideration that in a intro course this is some people's first look at Politcs. Go to class... bad things will happen if you don't
easy, gives you the exact questions for the exam, class is definitely optional
The beginning of the course can be dull, but trudge through all the readings and pay attention in class and the mid-term will be easy.
Short and peppy, don't talk about christian fundamentalism because she'll bite you in the ass. Good teacher and very fair, Midterm was easy and she provides a lot of overheads online.
She is one of my favourite profs! She goes through everything throughly in class and doesn't try to trick her students during tests and exams. She is also very easy and very interesting to talk to!
I love her! She's helpful, fair and easy-going. She has alot to say and says it well enough to understand. I appreciate the overheads online too! She's wonderful, and probably my favourite teacher!
Her notes and lectures are fairly well organized and explain the concepts fairly well. The films you watch in class you have to be careful not to fully beleive, as they are quite frequently full of propoganda (i.e. Capitalism is the devil type movies).
Nice prof displays info really well. Has a left-wing bias but does her best to show all sides. Good understanding of concepts
A very fair teacher...sometimes entertaining, will go out of her way to help if you go see her with a problem..
so awesome, i loved going to her class. her personal opinions and insights made the course much more interesting than it could have been. plus her lectures are pretty much substitutes for reading the book, so go to class and you'll be fine.
Over simplifies things like term papers.Doesn't know/pretends not to know common knowledge. Took points off of a paper because she would have worded a sentence differently.Strays from the purpose of the course intro politics to make it intro to feminism.
I really enjoyed this class, it wasn't what I expected but she's really accomodating for first year students, which is really helpful!
Interesting material but the questions on the midterm are way too abstract...
Very interesting, easy to follow, clear and easy exams!
Great Prof...incredibly smart and insightful. Her lectures are great, but you have to pay great attention, she can get very complex very quickly. However I definitely recommend any of her courses to anyone in in the poli sci. or cjpp programs.

dreadful lectures, useless assignments, and she often allows her personal political preferences/biases to creep into her material.
She is a very boring teacher and like others have mentioned, allows her personal views to get in the way of the lecteur!
great teacher. very clear lectures. fair in marking.
Great PROF!
Intro to Pols and the Art of Pols. Fantastic Prof. Easy to follow. Really attentive to the students. Reference material is always there. A Prof without a chip on her shoulder. I'm following her throughout my education!
Very insightful, does present some bias, however is there for her students and makes the course an enjoyable experience
Oh my god... Who likes her??? SO dull and biased... Actually cried when talking about the NDP victory in Ontario. And what's with the hand motions....?
All depends on that mood of her's. Great authoritarian.
She is hard to understand, and is not very approachable. On the upside, she seems to be very interested in her subject.
This is the third class that I've had with Dauda - she's a good prof and is wonderfully organized {her notes are all online}. A fair marker and willing to help you out when you need it. One warning: if you're politically on the far right you should start running now. *g*
everyone i knew thought she was the -best-, but i could never understand how someone could talk so much and not end up saying -anything-. Textbook example of this, very frustrating.
can't stand her. always stops the class when someone sneezes and stares at them. way too uptight for the class to be even remotely interesting.
Very feminist-democrat oriented. Not my bag ma'am. Could use a telephone book or two to stand on! Very helpful outside of class, although as far as comments are tied to marking scheme: might make sense in about two or three years, when I've graduated lady!
very very very very boring lectures
I fail to see how anyone can think she is terrific. Her classes are mundane at best and excruciating on average. She also adds irritating web assignments and several course reserve articles.Constantly complains about the right and is a staunch feminist, which is fine, but enough with the gender analyses
she takes her self too seriously

very nice lady one on one. however, she has trouble controling a large lecture hall. she is too much of a feminist and takes herself way to seriously. she also made the course really uninteresting
Totally turned me off political science. She is not very approachable and not understanding. Lectures are terribly boring and web assignments and media readings are useless. She can not control a lecture hall, and can be very biased. I would not recommend this class with this teacher.
What a great prof. Dauda is the best I have had. I LUV the theory she pulls into lectures and her gender stuff is really cool. u rock!
Best professor EVERrrrr. Very helpful during her office hours. Probably the best person to ever live ever.
I did not understand anything. The text was awful to read. The notes posted on Web CT and produced in class we useless and hard to understand or relate anything to.

She is not always that exciting, but she is very helpful and does what she can to provide the class with resources and opportunities to do well.
A sweet and helpful lady, very passionate about her subject matter. She gets very detailed, but it remains pretty unclear in lecture. Assignments are VERY vague, and then she nitpicks that you weren't specific enough. She assumes we all know the info as well as she does, but she's supposed to teach!
Really nice, helpful teacher. The subject matter is challenging and she demands alot from her students, however, if you do your course work and approach her from assistance it is possible to do really well in her clases.
decided to tell me on the day the essay was due that I could no longer write about my chosen topic, after she'd already spoken with me three times beforehand and approved it with open arms. i had to write an entirely new essay which didn't turn out well because she still took off late marks for every day it took me to write a whole new essay.
Very smart and caring teacher. Work hard and you will be rewarded. Had biggest effect on my academic career at UoG. Definitely a great women and professor.
Very knowledgeable prof and knows her stuff, but her lectures are very boring and it is a chore to make it to class. At times she could display an attidue that she was better than her students.
BRUTAL!!! Soooooo boring, she made me change my major. And what's with the constant hand circles? Don't ever take an intro class with her... I've heard she's better with advanced classes though
Dauda is such a crazy lady! she made going to politics in first year fun even though it was such a general intro class. I am definitely going to keep taking class with her. She is also extremely helpful and open to lots of visits during office hours.
was a pretty bomb ass class. dauda explains stuff really well, and the few videos she uses are so helpful.
Horrible! If you liked her in your first and second year, you are definetly in for a surprise. Basically, if you want your average to drop take her class. A great Prof but the marking scheme in these years is questionable and the goal is to trick/fool you into thinking you know what is expected of you. Save yourself the misery, take another class.
Great Prof. Explains concepts really well in lecture. Reminds me of Angela Lansbury from Bedknobs and Broomsticks!
i dont like her style
Worst class I've ever taken, her material was unclear and the readings rarely matched the lecutres. And the TAs were the worst I've ever had.
She really engages her students, demands a lot but is very forgiving and kind why you struggle with her material. Make sure you stay on her good side- she is a nasty enemy, but a wonderful friend, especially to fourth year students. Get on her good side by sympathizing with her love for feminism!
Dauda could be a very interesting professor if her extremely feminist bias. Apparently nearly everything in this class has something to do with feminism and the socialist agenda. Even though it is an intro course, the conservative right is marginalized and barely even spoken about.
Great class, she made me want to change to a poli-sci major. She was helpful with questions and allowed differed opinion too. I also liked that she gave us what to expect for exams. She can be intimidating but she is friendly. And such a tiny woman too!
She just reads off her powerpoint. She's a strong feminist and makes sure everyone learns that. She also follows the socialist agenda way too much. I may be a socialist personally, but I think it unfair that the conservative right gets little or no attention in an intro couse to poly sci.
Strong feminist professor who pushes liberalism and refuses to acknowledge other forms of political philosophy. Made me change to a Computer science major, which is the wisest move i have done since stepping foot on Guelph.
Great introductory class. The material is organized and clear. If you take notes, the midterm is easy. A handout is given for the final exam, which is extremely helpful.
Somewhat prejudiced, extremely feminist. I disliked her classes, however she is a nice enough person. Should probably just stick to research.
very nice professor. helpful during office hours. just a little too feminist, but pretty good lectures. Does class discussions, which helps to understand certain topics
Prof Dauda gave very engaging and enthusiastic lectures. The textbook complemented the the lecture material. I went in with very little knowledge about politics, and learned so much. She has great posted lecture notes, and is VERY helpful during office hours. Although she clearly has feminist views, I found it added to the course in a non-bias way
While she clearly has a passion for what she does, and broadcasts her ideas clearly and well, I can't help but think that she takes a first year introductory course way too seriously and expects far too much from her students. Also, she seems to have very feminist views and focuses on gender far too much, and it really takes away from the class.
She presents lectures very clearly with very detailed summaries put up on webCT usually before the lecture. She encouraged class discussion and had complete control of her class. If you whispered during her class you'd get stared down! Fair marker, and very easily approachable. I hope to have her again.
Be afraid; be very afraid...at least if you're a male. This woman epitomizes everything that is wrong with the second wave of feminism, and has none of the attributes of a "scholarly" professor. Blames men for every problem in the world, from colonialism to her own petty disputes with border guards. However, very nice person outside the classroom.
Great prof, attending her office hours will do wonders for your marks. Midterms and assignments are completely fair, she even gives you the final exam in advance so there are no surprises. I would definitely look for her again when picking my poli sci courses.
Extremely feminist, and forces this views a bit too much.. As an upper year student taking this course, she definitely took it WAY too serious for an introductory course. She is very approachable.
You have to do the readings! In ANY of her classes - from her first year intro pols class to her 3rd year classes. If you do not keep up you are screwed. She is very helpful but will not budge on the syllabus if you have an issue - there's no doing an extra assignment if you do poorly on a midterm or paper.
Incredible prof, she changed the course of my academic career. Do the readings and you'll do fine, she gives exams in advance so you can prepare easily. Very fair, very approachable, and extremely intelligent. Special interest in gender politics, which apparently annoys some... though why, I have no idea.
She really is a great teacher and you can tell she wants her students to succeed. Go to class because she makes a hell of a lot more sense than the text. Plus she's super helpful when it comes to assignments.
Professor Dauda expects a lot of her students so definitely do the readings and put extra effort into your assignments. All in all,I found her to be fair and very helpful. You can tell she wants you to succeed and fully understand the material. Highly recommend her!
Really good prof for a first year class. Wants to see her students do well. Provides final in advance so that students can prepare in advance. Midterm was easy. Is very approachable, either through email or office hours. Lecture material can sometimes be dry but she does a good job presenting it.
If theres one thing I know about Dauda its that she has no problem screwing kids over. When she gave the questions about the exam, i asked if i could run answers by her when i write them. She said of course i could. when i went to give them to her she immediately went back on her offer and claimed she never reads any - a "personal policy" of hers.
Didn't like her in the beginning, but by the end, my mind was changed completely. Print off the lecture slides and write as you go - SO much easier. Go to class, read the text, put in the work on ALL assignments. She is helpful and a little unapproachable, but still nice.
Prof. Dauda is a sweetheart! She cares genuinely about students' success. She is the most approachable and caring professor that I've ever had. Readings are necessary in her 4th year classes, but they're interesting and it pays off since she structures all assignments around the readings. No midterms/exams. Short papers. Presentation, but it's easy
Dauda is super nice but this course is ridiculous, unnecessary, scattered, and just plain dumb. Gender in Politics could be such an interesting course but it fell so flat. Do not take this course. It is political theory/philosophy. It is abstract, everything is a reach, and writing any assignment (including the final) is like pulling out your teeth
Nice. Funny. Easy-going. Smart. Clear.
Nice and funny and an amazing prof!
To say Dauda is one of the best professors would not do her justice. She is one of the best people I have ever had the honour of knowing. She shaped so many people's academic careers and really defined what university meant for me. I took every class I could with her and I enjoyed them all. Only word of caution is her readings are heavy!
She is amazing.
Prof Dauda is most definitely a sweet woman, one of great character. This leads her to actually care about her students marks. The problem for me, and some other students I spoke with, was that she was unclear at times compared to other political science teachers covering the same topics. Online participation is key to success in this course.
ONLY professor that has 3-4 time slots for office hours. Very helpful with exams & essays. She WANTS you to succeed and will help you get there if you're willing to do the work. She's VERY intelligent and will see through your B.S. She's very successful but treats you like an equal. She's funny, and a great lecturer and takes away the intimidation
Ok my only complaint is that the lectures are absolutely awful. She literally whispers (that's not an exaggeration) and it's repetitive and boring. She repeats whatever the readings say but won't explain anything. I didn't understand half the terms and she just continued to lecture rather than explain.
Professor Dauda will be one of the very few profs that I will remember 30 years from now. This class was such an incredible opportunity.
Amazing woman and prof!!!! If you need help, don't be afraid to ask! She loves to see her students succeed and keep some peace of mind all in one. LOVE HER!!!
Seminar based class. Participation is very important. She is a hard marker but gives good feedback and is always willing to meet with you and discuss things. Gives lots of guidance throughout the course. Knows what she is talking about it. The material is pretty interesting. Worth it. Learned lots.
I really enjoyed this class; between the content and the breakdown of assessments. It was very hard to do well on certain portions of the course, however, others were fine if you participated and did your work. Prof Dauda is extremely nice and willing to help outside of the classroom, which helps a lot for this course!
Dauda changed my perception of feminism in a very positive way. As one of only 5 men in a lecture of about 100 students she never made me or any of the other male students feel as we were out of place. Dauda also had a great way of explaining concepts you have heard before but from a perspective that makes more sense. I would recommend her courses
