worst teacher ever. laughs at herself constinuously through her lectures. tests are impossible to study for. don't ever take her...
Horrible teacher! Not helpful at all and she gives the impression that you're not good enough for her to answer one of your questions. Never take her!

She doesn't care that you have other things to do. 235 pages to read. that is a big book too. It is very hard
She is really hard and wants you to read way too mcuh. The review sessions are actually helpful.
she makes you read way too many pages out of books that definitly don't help you. don't even bother trying to answer her in-class discussions b/c you'll be wrong anyways.
Be good to yourself and take Lockhart

She makes jokes that no one understands and laughs for no reason. She's very intelligent but makes her class too difficult. I'd take Arbagi again over her and that's saying a lot.
She is evil!!!! i studied my ass off for the final and still failed, it was 80 questions of hell. Her class sucks.
i did more reading in her single class, than i usually do in an entire quarter, and i am a history major which involves tons of reading. i will never take engelhardt again.
I thought she was excellent, but there was an extensive amount of reading. Still knows her stuff and I personally liked the way she conducted class.
One of the meanest people on the face of the earth. Bad breath too! Her class was complete hell, see must be cousins withthe devil.
Dropped the class--too much reading. A 100 level class with daily homework turned in and 50pt 5 paragraph essays for each exam along with 50 multiple choice. She is not history majors only.
Not organized. Jumps around in time.
I have found the anti-Christ and thine name is Engelhardt. This harpy couldn't teach hockey to a Canadian; she literally impaled my love of history with her didactic sceptor of EVIL.

Ummmm.... if you take this woman in class you better be prepared to work hard. Read- read, read!!! It is almost impossible to do great unless you share her love for History. Overall, she is NOT a bad person, just makes you work for an A.
She is a good teacher and knows a lot about History topics of Europe but you will work very hard in there. I hope you like essays, 10 pages of notes per class (2 hours long by the way) and lots and lots of reading.
I don't know what was more annoying, her personality or her hair flip. I've never had a harder multiple choice test in my life-avoid this professor at all costs.
Her class is hard, but she teaches you a lot and prepares you for a lot harder professors. I am glad I took her class and it was one of the first classes that challenged me.
This class was not fun. She has a very annoying laugh and worse yet laughs at her own jokes. The tests were pretty hard and if you talk in class, even in the back row, she'll call you out on it. just be prepared for torture.
She is rediculous and cares more about her powerpoint slides than valid explanations of the material. And, like, can we say SORORITY GIRL? (As she bursts into laughter over her hardly-able-to-qualify as "jokes"...)
This woman is nuts, avoid her if you can. I am a history major and she makes it a lot harder than it needs to be. She asks the most in depth multiple choice questions ever. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Her exams are so confusing that it's tempting to make a design on her scantron because you know your answers are going to be wrong anyway.
Very hard teacher i was a 4.0 student until i took her class and recieved a B!
This woman is the freaking devil from her hideous neckerchiefs to her goatlike laugh at inappropriate times. Maybe if her lecture had anything to do with the test I could have gotten an A...Devil Woman...take Lockhart
GREAT PROF!

I hated this class. She picks on students who are quiet and embarrasses them by asking them difficult questions. Avoid her if at all possible. Plus way too many books to read! 5 books for one class plus notes--give me a break!
I've had 400 level and honors classes not as demanding as this 1st year course. I may support this "she's the Devil" theory, but it's still early in the quarter...
It is actually possible to get an A in her class, I manged to pull it off, but it is A LOT of work. Show up to all her classes, and take detailed notes. Also read and outline the chapter and make flashcards! Good luck, she is hard, but you learn alot!
DONT get her!!! She makes history harder than it has to be
Carol EngelHARDt is extremely HARD. (Just look read her last name) She talks so fasts and expects you to write down everything she says because what she says is most likely to be on the exams. Nothing from the power point will be on the tests.
I found her lectures interesting -- it was an evening class and time flew. Show up each lecture, read chapters and go online for practice quizzes with book. Tests won't be hard then. Graded fairly on papers/essays.
5 books in one quarter. a fourth hour project, even though the class is 4 hours of lecture. 4 reading analysis papers. Essay midterm and final. This class was ridiculously hard for any but a history major. Avoid.
Oh my...thank the dear Lord above that I am out of there! She was the hardest teacher I have ever come across, and she left me confused all the time. GOSH! Don't take her...
We called her Dr. EVIL-HEART if that tells you anything. Don't take her - she makes history harder than it has to be. She cracks jokes about disturbing things like people dying in wars and is the only one that ends up laughing about it...
Very difficult teacher. I spent more time studying for her tests than ANY OTHER in my life, and still only managed a C in the class. Her tests are part multiple choice which are very confusing, and misleading. One test yielded only 1 A of 50, yet no curve
I never went to class, read, nothing, and just went over the review material she posts, and still managed to pass the class with a B. Easy class though. Her tests are multiple choice and one essay, and you also have a paper to write, that's beyond easy.
laughs at self a lot
I hate this teacher more than any that I have had yet at wright state!!! She goes over material way too fast and treats her 103 class like a honors class! You will write so much in this class you would think it was writing intensive but it isn't!
She is a hard teacher, but very interesting. I learned A LOT in her class, however her tests are hard and require reading material & not missing class. U will be sorry if u miss class. Her tests are essay and mc. If u r ready for a challenge, take her
HARD HARD HARD. 3 Tests - study study study. Best advice I got - go to her review!!!!!!
She made the class harder than it had to be. Take Lockhart if you get the chance!
She is one tough cookie, but you are better for having her. Again, very helpful if you are smart enough to ask for it and take her advice.
Extremely difficult to follow. Dares anyone to pass. I do not recommend her. She tries to make everything difficult. I think in doing so she feels smarter. She seems to enjoy making everyones lives miserable from the stress of her class, really she does, no kidding!
Engelhardt is the worst professor I've ever had! She makes NOTHING clear and assigns multiple things (that take FULL concentration) all at once. She gives 3 exams, all of which are incredibly difficult... but the best advice I can give is GO TO THE REVIEWS!!
Her class is really hard. She's not really clear on what you have to study on for the exams. This class was not suppose to be a writing intensive class but all we did was write it seemed like.
she's terrific!
she's definitely a tough teacher. But if you're looking for a challenge you should take her. It'll be worthwhile in the end. Her reviews are extremeley helpful, she'll basically tell you what the essay question will be. You definitely have to read your book and take extensive notes.
This class was incredibly hard!! I studied by ass off for all her tests and I barely passed them. I ended up with a B only because of the paper. My best advice it to make sure your essay has lots of important dates that back up your answer.
not helpful or caring
She's opionated and full of herself. She treats this as a graduate course, instead of a regular gen ed. She preaches as if we should be history and religion majors, which we're not.
She is great for all her courses. I had her for english women's history
i love her - she's the reason i'm a history major, and yeah her classes aren't easy but who knew i would actually care about 19th century england? she's a good teacher, especially if you're in the major.
I LOVED THIS CLASS! I FELT THE LECTURES WERE INTERESTING, AND THE DEBATES VERY LIVELY. SHE ACCEPTED CONTRARY VIEWS WELL, AND ENCOURAGED DISSENT. THE COURSE WORK WAS FAIR. I APPRECIATED BEING EXPOSED TO OBSCURE WRITERS.
This prof is incredibly hard. She assigns way too much for a gen ed class and is extrememly opionionated. I didn't feel that I understood a lot of what she said and the text is extremely hard to understand. She's passionate about what she does but extremely hard. Read the book assigned!
this class was actually interesting, which surprised me. she is an awesome professor, especially if you're a history major - don't let some of the comments from her 103 class steer you wrong - she's great.
She is very strict and uninteresting. She has little respect for anyone outside of history majors. The course load she gives is tremendous and terribly confusing, but DO NOT expect her to give you any help. NOT RECOMMENDED!
Micromanages the class, i.e. I was looking over the reading for this very class and she tapped me on the shoulder to tell me I should be taking notes on this stuff. Very unhelpful and sarcastic. I have never dropped a class before because I couldn't stand the teacher but I just dropped this one.
I have always had an interest in History and she distroyed it! She expects graduate level papers from students and it was only a 102 course. Avoid At Most Costs! If you are stuck with her READ all of the text book and the novel!
very unfriendly lady made us read an additional book on top of the normal text book that all the other classes read her test wher very long and hard the final was 80 mc questions and a couple long essays avoid taking her as long as your other choice isn't Sumser
i hated this subject, but she was very helpful with writing our papers and gave fair grades and is always fun.. shy away if you're taking her for lower levels, but for upper level history she's awesome.
She is VERY knowledgable of the areas she teachs on. After 102 to get used to her teaching styles, once I got to know her, I totally enjoy her classes and learn a lot!
Wonderful professor! Thought provoking lecture and debate, perfect for those wishing to really get into the topic at hand. Not recommended for those looking to slide by.
Overall, she was a good prof. She was hard, but she knew her material and wanted the students to learn too. She has a dry sense of humor and people took it the wrong way.....she WANTS to be British! Which explains the dry sense of humor she had....
Told me to drop when I had a C in the class, but wouldn't explain to me how she graded her paper. Rolled her eyes a lot in conference....boring.
Have a point and a purpose when you teach.
Oh give me a break folks! What do you expect in college?? You're not in grammar school anymore so grow the heck up. She's like that English teacher that won't let you graduate if you can't read or write. She is a phenomenal educator, doesn't take crap, encourages class discussions, challenges you, knows her stuff and expects you to tow the line.
I really didn't like the class, she would say one thing but meant the other. She will trick you about test, so you never know what to expect from her. She really doesn't explain what she wants.
By far the most complicated prof I've ever had. She did not teach out of the book or online notes. So when exams came around there was very little material to study from. I definitely recommend another prof for this is class.
this is insane. she is the best history professor i have ever had. she's smart and makes class interesting - exams are easy and as long as you go to class you shouldn't have a problem. she made me want to study history.
tough but interesting, take a lot of notes to pass this class.
Boring, tests were hard
extremely hard, unclear, rude, almost impossible to talk to work with, or pass her class
if you're a history major, you really should take one of her classes before graduation - even though the subject might not be incredibly interesting, she is and makes class entertaining. it's a lot of reading but the papers and exams are easy. she's great, and i hate that people from her 102 classes rate her so low.
The worst History teacher I have ever had, she should be writing text books cause she knows what shes talking about but she just doesn't know how to present it in a manner where you will actually learn something, I got a D in her class then took Lockhart for the exact same class and got an A!!! I walked away knowing something about history too!!!
If you do the reading, copy and STUDY the notes, this isnt a hard class at all. She is very knowledgeable and makes the class very interesting.
Very rude. Ask questions after class and she gives you NO help at all. I took this class two quarters ago and failed. Took the same class this quarter with Lamborn and got a B. Unless you are a history major, do not take her.
Great professor. Interesting lectures. Expert in her field. Expects high performance--if you're there for an easy A, leave now. Class project was too dependent upon teamwork, but overall a great class. Expect to work and expect to learn, and you won't be disappointed.
Can't answer her own questions without contradicting herself. Refuses to give study guides because she thinks students won't study. Gives too much useless information during lectures. Doesn't know how to grade response papers. Blames students for every problem they have. She sees no faults in herself.
shes condesending
She is impossible. I took the graduate level seminar class with her and she basically told another graduate student to drop out of the program because of her writing skills. She should be a professor at Harvard or Yale by the way she immortalizes herself as the best historian to walk the earth.
Very unique reading assignments be prepared to read something a little out of the box. Never a boring moment in the lectures. She expects good writing take your time proof reading the material. Clear expectations are set, read the readings, do the work, come to class, write coherent papers and you will well. A very lively lecture.
