I took her class in summer.She gives a packet of work with vocab,etc. but it's really easy.There is one quiz over a novel & you can use the book.She also gives a review for the final exam and she gives extra credit if you bring dog/cat food:)

Very good instructor. She made class interesting early on a Saturday morning. She makes history funny and the books we had to read were interesting. The test for the books is mostly based on your opinion so as long as you read part of the books, you can pass the book review.

For alot of people history is a subject that is boring and sometimes hard to pay attention to, but her teaching style keeps you paying attention. Easy test. Easy book review. Two thumbs up!

Her classes are interesting. I had never fall asleep in her classes. The book reviews are easy, whereas the tests are pretty hard. Questions in the tests are NOT based on the review sheets she gave us beforehead.

Took her during summer session. Her class was pretty interesting. We had 2 test (open note/book) and 6 articles to write a summary on, which she gives you more than enough time to complete.We also had one book quiz over a novel which was EASY! Don't buy the textbook. If you take good notes that is more than enough for the test. Easy A with effort!

All exams are open book but if you dont know the material before exam you will NOT PASS even with it being open book. She clarifies alot in lecture.

Professor Fry is da bomb! She is very helpful, makes her classes interesting and offers a lot of extra credit. The only way anyone would fail her class is if they were extremely lazy. professor Fry class was easy! open notes tests. no textbook needed, but u do need a presidental difference book! her essay test questions comes straight from her lecture notes. you have to write a pro/con article almost every other week its not that hard, one page single spaced on what you side you think is correct.

I'm taking her class right now and from what I heard her class is easy and all its not true. You have to take extremely good notes. She has an essay portion on her test and if you don't include everything she will take like 30 points off. She gives you a lot of extra credit though. Before you didn't have to write a paper, but now theres a paper.

Mrs. Fry is wonderful. She made class interesting. There is a lot of work with the Pro/Con Articles and 6 page paper on The Things They Carried. Do all vocabulary which you can use on the test. You will pass if your find all of them. You can use your notes too.....Easy A if you take good notes and do your voc.

Her class is so easy. I took her for HIST 1301 and HIST 1302. It is very easy and simple. I passed both with an A. open note quizzes and open note tests. If you are taking the class in Fall or Spring you will have to write a paper based on a movie. But in summer you don't have to.

Homework packets is a lot of info but doable if you do 3-4 assignments a week. Pay attention in class and do well on quizzes/weekly homework assignments. You can't be lazy. Easy A+

Very good instructor. I see that lot of people complain because there is a lot of work. Do what is required and you will be fine. She gives some assignments to earn extra credits and that helps to improve grade. She is fair and if you do what you are supposed, you will earn a good grade.

Ms. Fry is very passionate about history and it shows in her teaching. Most students complain about the workload (there are HW packets due throughout the semester + some assigned book tests), but all her tests are open note and book (can't use your phone). I easily got an A by doing the assignments and using her notes outlines on tests.

Ms. Fry is an excellent professor; I took HIST 1301 and 1302 with her and got A's on both. She is willing to help you if you are willing to help yourself. I missed the first two weeks of this pass semester and she gave me a chance to stay in the class. I got all the notes and got back on track and I passed. I would definitely recommend her.

AMAZING teacher! does not require a textbook and her tests are all over her notes. Open notes test and a lot of homework that has information for the tests. She's very interesting professor and she's very helpful. I love the stories about history and the videos. Unfortunately, the dummies in the class (you can tell by their writing style here) made the environment in the class horrible because they really don't have anything to contribute and they constantly complain and moan.

Best Prof at HCC. She goes step by step and completes syllabus way before time. She explains everything in great detail and also responds to emails, she also gives extra credit quizzes ever so often so you can improve your grade.

her class is easy but the assignments are tough. especially the test even though they are open book. the grading scale she uses is so wrong. technically you have to have a 93.7 to earn an A according to her syllabus 750-800 points. which is weird.

She's a great professor. I'm a smart, intelligent student and I understand the material and study a lot. My grades are good for that reason. You can tell the students here who don't belong in college or who need lots of remedial writing and reading courses. Just because it's open enrollment, doesn't mean you belong in college. Carol Fry has made the dreaded History classes enjoyable for me! She doesn't expect you to memorize a bunch of dates and people, but instead wants you to UNDERSTAND history. Tests are open book and open notes, you need to read and understand what she is looking for. Go to class and take detailed notes, seriously, write down EVERYTHING :)

Loved Professor Fry. Her class is so interesting that she made me love history. The students at HCC typically are of very poor quality and this has gotten worse. That makes class unbearable sometimes - the stupidity, ignorance, and refusal to put any effort into learning. Once I realized this, I learned to ignore the others and enjoyed the class!!!

Professor Fry was a nice and informative teacher. I work full time and attend school full time, and this class requires a lot of time (in and out of class)5 to fully assimilate everything about US history in order to understand the very in dept and specific questions on her test. While the home home work was easy expect a lot of it.

Professor Fry is legit. Her way of teaching makes you actually want to understand our history. I actually don't like History but, I sure did enjoy it this time!

I love Prof Fry. Made history come alive for me. Never liked history and dreaded taking it. This professor's lectures, movies and readings were great. I learned so much and enjoyed every minute. Yes, it's a lot of work. There is a lot to read and study, but tests are open notes and I expect to be challenged in college. Have to be SMART to do well.

Prof. Fry was a great teacher! One of my favorites at HCC. She is a bit harder on grades but compared to other profs I've had she's really fair and easy going, you just need to pay attention to what she asks and read the book. (MANDATORY, but you can buy it for .50 in the library, amazing) Pay attention and read and you'll enjoy her class. :)

Excellent professor. I really hate that the dummies in class are so rude and disrespectful and entitled. They expect a good grade for no work. You really have to be a blithering idiot to think that way. I wish they had separate classes for the dummies because they really ruin the class for those who want to learn and who are bright.

Professor Fry is an awesome professor. If you miss class regularly and cannot take good notes than you might want to rethink taking her class. On the other hand, if your good than it should be an easy A, i took her for 1301&1302. Her lectures are amazing just because she incorporates visual learning with auditory learning.

Professor Carol Fry is amazing! i really don't see why people say this class was hard. Really you just have to show up and make sure you write really good notes! her tests are not at all hard! you do have to study like every other class, overall i give her a A+.

Did not have a single problem with her class. The people who put bad reviews must have been tardy or didn't bother showing up to her class. Her lectures are crucial for the tests!! Write everything that she says and she always repeats important points. The assignments are easy and the tests are open notes. Just do all of the assignments given!!!

I was not looking forward to history (I mean come on, who does?) I enjoyed my Saturday mornings with her! She made this class as easy as possible. Yes you will read, yes you will take notes and yes you will ask questions. Take her! You won't regret it :)

A teacher that made me understand history even though i hate learning history in general. One big pointer is that you have to write every single word she says and shows(mainly videos) because her tests are exact copy of what she presents. Extra credit is really hard to get but its not impossible and i advice every one to read the books she assigns.

Ms. Fry is an amazing instructor. I've taken HIST 1301 & 1302 and did well. Must attend to all her lectures and take good notes in order to do well. You will be expected to read a novel for the book test and other tests, along with a good amount of homework. Come to class and be focus then you will do great! She is very fair and understanding.

Ms. Fry was one of the sweetest , most understanding professors i ever had. Her work is straight forward and her lecture i actually learned something from. She was very accessible and very understanding. If you're willing to work so is she. I recommend everyone take her.

Miss carol fry Is an amazing professor. Although the point system can be frustrating but if you want to be successful in her class just make sure you follow her directions... just do as she says and you will get the grade... lastly she understands student and can do some adjustment at the end to pass you with at least a C or better grade.

She gives you 3 pack that has a lot of work in them. They aren't hard, but they do take a while to do. Actually do them or you won't pass the class. She gives extra credit as well and is really interesting.

She is a very great professor. She gives a lot of extra credit that are easy to do. She has 3 test and 1 final; all are open book and notes. There are only 3 homework assignments which are pretty easy. Overall she's an amazing professor and can teach very well.

Ms. Fry is one of the nice teachers and she can only pass you with at least a C and above I took this class on Saturday morning and i really enjoyed her class, her class is based on video and lectures so basically just take good notes and thats it the good part she lets everyone use notes during tests and also gives alot of extra credit

Professor Carol Fry is a classy teacher. She is well rounded and believes in education. But her approach is astounding. She utilizes many learning styles so that if it is videos, lecture, participation, reading, relatable issues, or writing; as long as it is learning she is right there to cheer you on. Great teacher. Wish she taught more classes!

She's a doll. She gives you everything you need to pass. I understand why she doesn't give much extra credit or curve. She explains everything that will be on the test. Study. I didn't study much but if you listen in class you'll pass. Her grading is a bit off but she lets you know where you are in the class so no need to panic. TAKE HER.

She's so cool and caring. I love her lectures, she makes it interesting and simple. NO ESSAYS! However, she did give out HW which wasn't extreme difficult.

Lite HW. Tests are not as direct in the answers, yet it's easy to get bonus pts (excessive Extra Credit). She's knowledgeable making history fun. No class participation, great 4 shyness. Watch movies every day & NO ESSAYS. No books needed except HCCs rentals(w/ credit given on return) read it w/ youtube & another is a comic-bk. She prints work 4U.

Professor Fry is a Great professor, though her exams and quizzes are open book, but if you do not take good notes its useless. She grades differently , meaning she uses her own grading system . you will have to read two novels for the class, they are short and the questions are easy to answer. I got A for 1301 and B for 1302.

BEST PROFESSOR IVE EVER HAD!!! Shes super nice and she cares about ber students believe it or not. A lot of homework but its super easy. The way she grades is different. She shows passion during the lecture!

She was incredible. Took her for a Saturday class and she let us out early every time. Ms. Fry is very kind and funny at times too. She also gives lots of extra credit. There are 2 novels that she tests you on. Textbook was not needed. Instead she gives an Outline of about 70 pages to be printed out, followed by the documents, (homework)

She was a great professor. She ALWAYS dismissed us early in her Mon/Wed class, and the class was really simple. She doesn't use canvas, but theres TONS of extra credit it's hard not to make an A. Honestly, as long as you attend her class and do the worksheets/readings she gives you there's no reason you can't make an A.

i took her for both 1301 and 1302 and her class is based on Videos and lectures she gives you alot of papers which is extra credit but it is easy, there is no open notes test which that kind of sucks but other than that write down really good notes and write down wat ever she says i made an B in 1302 and C in 1301. shes very nice and funny

She's AMAZING! If you're planning to learn something in history, take her; however, if you want an easy A, avoid her at all cost. She's a tough grader and her tests are really hard. Textbooks are needed but I didn't really use it in Hist 2, just hist 1. Surprisedly, I received A's in both History 1&2, but I studied a lot. Overall, she's amazing.

One of the best professors ever!! I took her for 1301 and 1302 at 8am and i enjoyed her lectures! Homeworks consists of reading like paragraphs online and just answering questions, it was easy. The tests literally comes from the notes! We has to read two books but they were interesting! Dont stress out!

Very sweet and caring. If you show that you're willing to learn and take notes she will do her best to help you when you needed. She's very sweet and kind and I loved her class this semester. She is a tough grader, given this is a college level class you're expected to think critically and have good writing skills. Taking her in 1302!!

Mrs fry is one of my fav professors at hcc! Her lectures are awesome and is very passionate about history. She does grade a bit tough on written assignments, so dont expect an easy A. Her reviews are almost like her exams, except for one or two things. Read the book bc that is 20% of total grade! Definitely recommend,will be taking her for 1302!

Professor Fry is a wonderful professor. I am not good at history but she made this so easy and enjoyable. The homework is all in handouts, the tests were few and made to pass and raise your grade, and the lectures were easy. Take your notes and study her reviews and this class is an easy A.

Tests were difficult. I hardly know how to make it through without group study. But I really appreciate that there is only one essay without citation. My 1301 professor required three essays with citations and used Turnitin to check plagiarism. I was stressed out, because English is my second language.

Professor fry is very passionate about history, lectures are the least bit boring and shes actually very funny. I can admit you definitely need to study for her tests, but honestly at the end of the semester I learned more than I ever did in high school about history. I'm taking her for summer and cant wait.

Look towards going to her class, there's always discusions, and interactions with everyone. She can be very meticulous when it comes to grding, but with effort you are sure to get an A! TAKE HER!

took her for 1301/1302. her difficulty rating shouldn't be what its at. easy A class. she's very chill and funny. if you missed something she said all you have to do is ask. exams were just like her reviews. you just have to READ. its not even alot of reading. theres a pattern to her reviews that relate to the test. you have to be real lazy to fail

Ms. Fry is the best history professor ever. I used to hate history and she managed to ignite my love for the subject. Her passion for history is contagious. Her teaching experience shows. Her tests and quizzes are reasonable, as long as you attend classes, pay attention and review, you will get an A.

I took Dr. Fry, for 1301 History, during the middle of the pandemic. Assignments remain the same however, we did two essays in the place of the multiple choice test. The essays were easy two pages single space.

Professor Fry class was simple and straightforward. This class is NOT an easy A by all means! You must study hard for your A. PLEASE study hard for the midterm!! istudied and still failed. The only thing that saved me was that the class switched to online mode due to the pandemic and the Book review and final turned into essays which was way easier
