no command of classroom, easy class, time intensive , friendly, bit of a pain
Not very interesting. Class exercises a joke.
A truely Awful woman. Tests are worded like a child wrote them with a crayo
test r not what is taught
awful....awful....makes an easier 300 turn into ur worst grade in 300's
a nice woman outside of class but cant write a test to save her life...
Tests are ridiculous. Awful [time] management skills. Boring class excercises.
Her tests aren't hard if you read the book, but her class is SO freakin boring!
VERY NICE, kinda easy, dry material
Terrible, goes 5min over classtime everyday, boring as all hell, teaches nothing
Easiest COB class. Stupid class exercises. Approachable
soooooooo boring, doesnt explain anything...only did 1 lecture the rest was presentations that were pointless...she has no control ovver the students, they all hate her.

Class is very borig with an attendance policy. Doesn't go over what is going to be on the quizzes and is not fair in grading the quizzes. Midterm and final very unfair...too long to do in 50 minutes. Made one of the easiest COB classes hard!
Nice lady but very boring. Bases everything off of studies without giving all the study info or checking to see if it's one sided. Quiz/Test questions ambiguous though they've gotten better after the class almost yelled at her about it.
Great, respectable professor. These other students are disrespectful underachievers. She is very concerned for her students and their understanding of the material. Anyone who can read and has two brain cells can make an A.
She takes a class that should be an easy A and makes you work. Attendance is taken every class and the quizzes are very obscure. If you are taking COB202 get another professor but I think she could be good in a higher-level class where people care more.
nice lady, fair grader, and an easy class if you go. You dont even have to listen very much- the concepts are all common sense, but she teaches some important managerial decision making. Highly recomended her.
Very hard on papers. Mentions glowing reviews and then trashes paper overall. Participation grading questionable. Attendance policy. Unclear test questions.
Not a bad teacher or person, but does make the class harder than it should be. Not an easy A.
Good at teaching the subject but her tests and quizzes are terrible. They're either far too long or full of ambiguous answers, where multiple answers could be correct. Attendance and class participation matter too much to her. Friendly at least.
She doesn’t even know why her quiz answers are wrong. She’s a shroom trippin whacko professor, avoid her like the plague. This is supposed to be an easy class, but instead she will end up irritating you.
Everyone else that has rated Carol must me retarded... you have to be brain dead not to get an A and she is the nicest lady in the world.
GO TO CLASS!!!! if you don't go she'll hate you and give you a C, even if you scored a 98 on the mid-term & final. Quizzes are to hard. She's nice lady, but can be annoying. this class should be an easy "A",but she doesn't make it EASY, not eve
This class is supposed to be an easy A, but not with her. This lady needs to chill out. She's really nice and helpful, but if you're looking to skip class and not even buy the book, you'll get yourself a C-, easily.
Super nice....but makes material IMPOSSIBLE TO LEARN. She tries to make simple concepts very complicated so her class isnt a "breaze." Her tests or very hard b/c she doesn't have a clear understanding of the material herself and refuses to chan
The material is easy...however, her tests are not...they are ambiguous, unclear, and I thought this was possibly the worse class I had to sit through...read the book, do the worksheets, and try to understand what SHE wants
One of the worst teachers I've seen. She's VERY nice, but sucks at teaching. She thinks that management is really important and interesting and it's not. I got an 82.7 as my final grade and she wouldn't round it up to a B, so I got a B-. AVOID!!!!!!!!
This teacher really tried really hard but wasn't a good teacher. She should have had an attendance policy and I would have attended her class more.
Class is boring as hell but she is a pretty easy teacher. Reccomend taking.
Yes, her quizzes and tests are hard. But she is not mean at all or anything like that. One of the nicest and most sincere ladies I've ever met. Super friendly.
Whoever you people are who took this class must have terrible interpersonal skills...its impossible to do that bad in the class unless you are lazy..Ms Hamilton is super sweet and clear!
This class is easy but boring but she is the nicest lady. Rarely have homework and there are only 2 online exams. Worthelss projects that just take up time. EASY class though but the exams are harder than they should be. Just pay attention and youll do fine! Take her!
I don't understand how lazy idiots, feel that their opinion is worth sharing. The woman is sweet as hell and she just wants people to talk to. The class is easy busy work. If you can't get a good grade with Hamilton---Give up Business!!!
Mrs. Hamilton is one of the sweetest professors at this school and it is impossible not to do well in her class. There are 2 online exams and you take them on her own! Take her! She is very to talk to .
Very nice lady-like an elementary teacher. 2 tests that you take on your own (*and on your honor*) Only problem is 50% of your grade comes from 2 projects. Really no need to read book. Everything is due at the end of the semester so try not to wait till last minute. Pretty easy class
Mrs. Hamilton is by far the best teacher to take for interpersonal skills. She is extremely nice and so easy to talk to and wants her students to do well. Attendance policy with very little homework.

She is nice and helpful, but her class is really boring. Its like 3rd grade with an attendance policy. 1 very hard project, but the rest is cake. Fairly good overall i guess
Makes what should be an easy A an easy B more like. Tests are online but for some reason still impossible. Class may bore you to death. Still slightly recommended though.
You guys must be idiots, this is the best teacher i could ever imagine. she is the most fair and reasonable teacher i have ever had and im plus not smart but still am pulling a 96 avg right now. shes even ordering us pizza for our final... come on now.
This lady may not receive great comments before you take her. She is an awesome and understanding professor...aka...(easy) Trust me! Just do your work and she'll give you at least an B+...I got an A-. She actually turned out to be really cool.
She is the easiest teacher I have ever had but she is so nice and so helpful. She let me turn in everything late without any penalty and I only went to class half the time. I still got a B+ without doing anything. Thc actual class is ****.
Busy work thats easy, like 3 projects and a group project, 2 online finals only worth like 10% of grade. If you do work, should get an A
She is the nicest, most helpful and caring professor that I've had so far. The class is easy and she is a wonderful professor to have for it.
You will do much more in this class than any other 202 class, Grades very hard on papers + exams are tougher than they should be. You learn nothing during class and are expected to reproduce it on exams. Class is run like a preschool class...but if you get a good group it makes is bareable. She has great life experience that she can share
You basically make another business plan. A worthwhile class if you're interested in business creation. Not much work except for the final project.
Very nice & helpful, but not always clear about what she wants for case studies. Right before finals, she failed half the class on a case study for not following new directions (that she mentioned on a Fri morning when only like 5 people were in class). I lost my A, but still, she's a great person and an easy prof. Just be sure to go to class.
If you want to learn nothing and be talked to like your still in Pre-school, take her. Gave the class an outline of how she would like her case analysis. Everyone in the class followed it and the majority failed the first case because she completely veered away from the outline she gave us.
Real nice lady, but an awful professor. Takes 2-3 days to respond to emails, and even then its vague at best. Doesn't ever teach anything, but gives very hard exams. Very picky on case analysis, even though her directions consist of "just present your case logically and you'll be fine." And she takes forever to post any grades. Avoid if you can.
professor from hell!!!!!!! extemely hard and attendance is mandatory. Do not take her if possible. If you have to take here be ready to do lots of work.
Great professor, highly recommended.
Rambles on. Mandatory Attendance. Boring and I swear dumb as a rock. Doesnt know what she is talking about avoid her as much as possible.
Horrible. Ambiguous tests, never there on test days, material covered in class is irrelevant to her tests, most unorganized professor at JMU.
worst prof ever!! makes extremely easy material soooo difficult/boring. test are way too hard and ambiguous. cant explain anything. online quizzes programmed with wrong answers and wont respond to ANY emails sent. AVOID!
She is not a good teacher. Her lack of student connectivity and understanding of the subject material makes her class both confusing and boring. Her tests are vague and misleading. I run a firm that hires and fires personnel for our clients, and in comparing my experience to her class. She's not a good teacher.
Worst teacher I have had ever had at JMU. Huge waste of time and money. She makes the class appear to be easy and scews everybody at the end. She is unable to teach the material and has to bring people in to teach us. Avoid this teacher, maybe if enough people read this and don't sign up for her classes, they will find someone better to fill in
Comes into class late everyday and releases about 10 minutes late! Supposed to be an easy fun class but she ends up screwing everyone by making the tests extremely difficult
VERY NICE. VERY EASY "A". If you do not get an A in this class you are just STUPID.
You have to go to class and sign in but after that this class is so easy. There are 2 papers (one being about your life) and a group project. Each exam is only 10% of your grade. Easy Easy A. A must take.
This is the easiest class that I have ever taken! All that you have to really do is come to class, since there is an attendance policy. The projects are pretty much an automatic "A" and the 2 tests aren't to bad and are only worth 10% each. Take Hamilton for 202!!
Very chill class. I had it at night and I didn't mind coming to it because all you do is have class discussions. No tests, projects are graded very easy. Attendance is graded.
One of my favorite professors this semester! No tests or quizzes the whole semester just papers that are pretty easy. Don't bother buying the textbook. Hamilton knows her stuff and what she teaches you will definitely help you in the work-world. So nice and helpful and genuinely interested in teaching her students. TAKE PROF HAMILTON!
1. She completely changed and all these kids from past semesters are wrong. 2. She grades memos extremely hard and thinks she right all the time. 3. The assigns 3 projects at once and asked for papers to be single spaced WHO THE DOES THAT. DONT TAKE HER
Rater below me is correct, she completely revamped the class. Homework is 35% of your grade and she grades them really, really hard. Most kids get 50's. The class is otherwise directionless and you have no idea what your grade is going to be until halfway through the semester. Nice lady, horribly executed class. Avoid.
Every class is a class discussion not her lecturing. There doesn't need to be structure to this class considering there is barely any homework and No tests. She is a tough grader with memos, but you NEED to be able to write if your going into business. If you have a problem with single spacing papers then I recommend getting out of the COB.
I did not enjoy this class at all. She teaches the course much harder than normal 202 classes. She hardly gives you any clear instructions on how to do things, and simply just refers to the book for you to use. She also takes things personally which, in turn, unfairly affects your grade. Worst professor taken so far at JMU, by far. Glad it's over.
She is nice but definitely a tough grader on the homework assignments. Just ask her to be more clear about what she wants with the memos so you don't find out after receiving the grade. Office hours help as well! Read the assignments from Outliers and Difficult Convos, she'll quiz you on those. Don't bs the big assignments, good luck!
The rater below me seems to be unaware that the "easy 202 class" doesn't exist. Hamilton tries her best to prepare you for COB 300. Don't BS the big assignments, FOLLOW THE FORMATS EXACTLY, and for the love of god if you don't know what to do, ASK. She is ALWAYS willing to talk and is extremely helpful. Also she has a ton of connections.
She is so helpful and reasonable. The assignments may seem tough, but once you actually understand what you're expected to do, it's a piece of cake!! So easy, take her.
Dr. Hamilton's 487 class is an excellent opportunity to build your own business. She introduces students to many prospective mentors and provides helpful feedback.
Ms. Hamilton is an extremely nice person. She has some great experience and knows lots of business people. She tries to actually teach you a set of skills for COB300 team. Doesn't always give clear instructions, so better ask; and follow the format. Two individual projects are not difficult; the group project is manageable, but no fun.
Two concurrent group projects, one of which my class section was the pilot for. A lot of meaningless personality quiz-type activities. She's an excessively tough and seemingly arbitrary grader: The class average on the first 4-5 writing assignments was around 55-65. She is very knowledgeable but there is a lot of useless content in her course.
Nice lady, but tough grader. Gives WAY too many big projects. Had to work with a nonprofit organization, interview a ceo of a company, and do a final project. All of which took lots of time. Teaches real world skills and helps prepare you for COB 300. If you don't procrastinate you will do fine. Has lots of connections, so go to office hours
Professor Hamilton is really passionate about what she does. She knows what she's talking about and a lot of the material is extremely useful. She does have an issue with jumping around and often forgets to tell you about assignments. She gives you a syllabus with 3 big projects at the beginning of the semester. So don't procrastinate.
She gave our group an awful non-profit organization to work with. Lady we were assigned to must have had schizophrenia. My group did the entire project, then this lady changed her mind to the exact opposite of what we did. Had the nerve to give us a bad grade. And Hamilton tries to push her liberal ideology on you, diversity and Ferguson work.
so Hamilton is a super sweet lady, she can be forgetful and jump around a lot. There's 3 test. the last one is the easiest, and the first 1 will be the hardest bc her grading style is VERY unique. So you have to see what she is looking for. Do the readings bc those are the pop quizzes. Theres no final just can easy project the requires some effort
Hamilton really cares about her students. She's a little crazy and passive aggressive but at the end of the day she's sweet and it's hard to not get an A in this class. My group for the teamwork (semester-long project) was really bad and I still managed to do all the work and pull through. This class is most likely to help you in real world.
Tends to stray from the actual class material on a regular basis. Doesn't really focus on what we actually need to learn from the test. VERY IMPORTANT: She gives MANY surprise quizzes, NO warning, so read every little handout before class or she'll get you. Probably the biggest issue is grading and test preparation. She's unclear with expectations.
Ethics is an interesting topic in general but Carol makes it really fun. Her midterm and final were take home, and we had 4 case studies that weren't that bad. Couple of group presentations, but nothing crazy. It's COB, you're going to be presenting. A solid choice for an elective
TAKE THIS CLASS. She is so sweet and this class could not be any easier. I got an A with no problem. The tests literally ask you your opinions, if you don't get an A thats just sad. You do have to show up to every class but it's a breeze. Lots of in class activities. This class SAVED MY COB GPA #blessed
Yes the class is easy, but at what cost? Lectures are extremely dry and I never got the sense that anything she taught was backed up by any credibility. Everything she says sounds like an opinion but is tested on. I never used the textbook or took notes, just payed attention in class. Turn in all the assignments and you will easily pass.
The class was so easy, so take if you want an easy A. Super nice lady but her lectures were boring and they were so dumb it ended up making me dislike her. So many assignments that the tests don't even count that much. Attendance does matter though so you have to show up.
Take her!! She really cares about what she teaches and makes it as easy as possible. It wasn't hard to sit through. She gives 3 excused absences but try not to miss because she does give easy pop quizzes. 10/10
Easy class and easy assignments that are sometimes interesting. Biggest pet peeve is she doesn't round even if you are at an 89.9 which can be very frustrating. Some of the assignments are unnecessary and boring. Overall a good class though.
DONT TAKE HER. SHE DOES THE MOST. She makes you buy her text book that she created and it is terrible. I was often asking myself why she is making us do this stuff. ALOT of busy work. Terrible teacher. Nice lady. Terrible teacher
Absolutely loved her. She is so caring and the class lectures are interesting. She makes an effort to have the class be friends with each other, so the environment is super friendly and unique. Highly highly recommend personally introducing yourself after class and making an effort to talk to her--she will like you and help you out!! She's so sweet
A lot of class discussions
The class isn't hard but she doesn't give the clearest of instructions on things. I will say she does make you spend a lot of money on the course ($100 textbook, $20 book, $26 survey). Other than that its not too bad just stay on top of assignments. She can be hard to reach outside of class so ask questions in class. Also no exams so that's a plus.
Professor Hamilton is by far the easiest choice for COB 202. She loves teaching the course and her class is very engaging. Easy A that should boost your COB GPA.
Great professor! Very kind and extremely accessible. While the course work was not difficult, Hamilton would assign many assignments in order to keep students accountable. Just follow the syllabus, do the assignments, and you should be fine. Class also is based on one large group project, which is great to learn how to work in a team.
Professor Hamilton is great. You learn skills in her class that are actually applicable in real life. There is a lot of homework out of the textbook but it is not hard. She is also super understanding so if you need to turn something in late once or twice she will understand. If you do the work you will get an A.
This class will help you to become more aware of your work and thinking habits. There will be homework due every class but it shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes. She really cares about her students and honesty is really important to her. She's a very understanding professor who will work with you. Definitely take her if you can!
Carol Hamilton is a perfect example of a Professor utilizing their position to push their personal agenda upon students who may or may not agree with her. Supposedly a "business" class yet all we talked about was racism. Easy class though and she is a nice person.
If you miss 4-5 classes you can't get an a and 6 or more you don't pass. The class itself is super easy. As long as you do your work you'll get an a. There were two papers and I got 100 on both and barely tried. No exams just a presentation and the final was a 15 min convo with her and our group talking about how the semester went. GPA booster
Prof. Hamilton is by far the best 202 professor. She's super nice and gives good lectures that are mostly discussion-based. The class is centered around one group project which is graded generously if you participate in class. Show up to class, come prepared for class discussion and it should be an easy A.
Good professor, however will refuse to round up your grade NO MATTER WHAT THE CASE (I had an 89.95, my friend had a 89.98). Class was mostly open discussion and the case studies were fairly hard.
Her class is very easy but she's not the most organized. It is difficult to figure out what assignments are due and when to do them. The good thing is that she just cares that they get done and does not have hard and fast deadlines. The class is fun when you participate. I recommend her.
Carol Hamilton is a nice lady, although she has completely changed the direction of the class from it's original course. This is a social issues class. Nothing more. We have a textbook and weekly homework due but we never actually apply the textbook to anything we do in the class. Get ready to talk about racism, sexism, and white privilege all Sem.
I am sorry to say that this class is one of the reasons I just left JMU. As others have said, the new agenda for this class is merely an extension of all of the activism and media propaganda that we as students are bombarded with everyday. Lots of extra expense required for books etc. one even authored by the teacher. Conflict of interest?
class is more on social issues than anything. Very political (liberal) about everything. Weekly homework out of textbook that has nothing to do with class. Giant group project. No tests. Attendance mandatory. She's very nice and can work with you if you miss class or homework. Definitley an easy A.
The whole course is based on team- building and you work in a group of 4 the whole semester for the final project which is a presentation on a social issue. Homework in textbook every week, quizzes were sometimes more difficult than expected. Very nice, but class was boring. Very easy though
Assignments are super easy (couple of homeworks, easy group presentations, 2-page final reflection paper). DO NOT skip her class - she's a stickler for attendance. Basically talks about social issues/current events the whole semester, so if that's for you this class should be an easy A.
Nice teacher annoying human being. Every lecture talks about social issues instead of business. Be ready to spend money on stupid surveys, theres at least 3 you have to pay for. Lectures are pointless which makes attendance hard. She wont bump your grade up even if you are .001 away from the next letter grade.
Absolutely do not recommend Carol Hamilton. She forces her own opinions on students and is extremely unreasonable with her expectations. I had her first fully online semester and she was unaccommodating and very unhelpful about online group work. Her class is easy and it could have been so enjoyable but her difficult personality ruined it all.
Steer clear. Hamilton is a very kind woman but rambles for the entire class period, is incredibly disorganized, and often takes class time to brag about her accomplishments. We are halfway through the semester, and I am unable to pinpoint a single thing we have been taught. Talked with others in different sections who all share this sentiment.
Carol is a nice woman, but she has turned the class into nothing related to COB. I feel as if I'm taking a social issues class. We do group projects that she grades very peculiarly. The stuff we read/learn/do in the course is pointless. She makes you take a number of paid surveys for no reason. We talk about topics that aren't related to business.
Worst most biased professor I've ever had. Literally makes you write a paper on white privilege, hmmm wonder what I can write as a white person. She shoves her political beliefs down your throat, all around awful person to even be around, cannot wait to not be in her class anymore.
Carol is fine. She talks about stuff that is so irrelevant and makes us do some pointless assignments. However, everything is pretty easy and the workload is manageable. There are no tests which is nice, but usually, a textbook quiz is due every week or every other. You get assigned a group and work with them the whole semester on a big project.
a nice woman, but grades very harshly and is extremely disorganized. mandatory attendance and it feels more like an ethics or philosophy class than a business class. huge project for a large grade with 0 rubric or guidance. cannot tell you how many personality tests i had to take (some of which i had to PAY for). makes up assignments on the spot.
People wonder why her reviews are low, here is why, u have to buy her $130 textbook, extremely irrelevant, a lot work. She expects so much from u but she is not clear about any assignments. She is not friendly and takes days to respond. She is unorganized and tells dramatic and irrelevant stories in class. If u miss 4 classes, u can't end with an A
Carol Hamilton is the most unorganized professor I have ever taken. She makes attendance required even though she just goes on rants every day about a time when she was yelled at by her boss, but overcame him and worked hard. I learned nothing, would not take her for an easy 202 class
She's alright, just expects people to participate every class (which people don't always want to). For some reason, in an interpersonal skills class, about 40% of the grade is textbook homework. It's not on Canvas. Get a calendar and do it or you will get a B in an easy class like me.
Hamilton is a good professor! She barely lectures, classes are mostly just class discussions and some guest speakers. No tests- she does have online quizzes but they're easy with the textbook. She grades the case study assignments pretty harshly but you can still do well on them if you follow her instructions closely. Group work is easy too!
Not the worst 202 professor, she comes across as caring and she has good intentions. She posts grades 2 weeks before Thanksgiving from August and now I am looking to having to retake 202. The text book is $100 and required for all assignments. The group project doesn't make sense because you do interviews and reports that don't make sense.
The class was graded on 40 homework assignments and a group project. If you don't do the homework, you won't do well in the class. If you want to actually learn about interpersonal skills, take a different professor. She tries to push her feelings on social issues on her students instead of focusing on interpersonal skills. Only allowed 3 absences.
A caring and interesting person. However, she grades things very peculiarly, does not use Canvas, and started putting in grades for the first time in November. I greatly enjoyed the lectures and material but I wish the assignments had more structure and that she started putting in grades earlier. I was always slightly confused on what she wanted.
Carol is a super sweet professor! Her classes are pretty chill but sometimes a little dry. There are no tests or quizzes, but lots of group presentations and discussions in every class. Her attendance policy is strict (more than 3 absences in a semester means you fail) so you have to show up to class and participate to get a good grade.
She was very unorganized and I felt like was not the most fair teacher
Honestly, she was very shady in my opinion. I felt as if her lectures were based on her own experiences and she never failed to brag about herself. The group project was fine, but it does require a lot of work. The textbook work is a lot when you have a group project going on. Her grading was based on her feelings towards something. She is biased.
Going in, I was hesitant with Hamilton's reviews. But I can say that she is one of the better teachers for COB 202. She is a very understanding person, and her class is very simple. Talk to her during office hours and she will love you. DO THE HOMEWORKS! That is what dropped my grade the most and they're only based on completion.
Carol is a great professor and whoever says otherwise either didn't show up or didn't care enough to do the homework's. She is trying to teach you responsibility by keeping your own calendar for homework's, which are graded for completion. Must go to class, if you miss more than 3 classes she fails you, even if you have an A.
Carol can be disorganized, but the class is manageable. Lots of group work and textbook quizzes, but no tests. Using unstuck AI alongside the textbook helped me stay on top of the workload.
Passionate about topics, but full of herself. Topics aren't hard, many group assignments and discussions, along with a few papers, only test is final. Boring lectures make this class go by extremely slow, but attendance is mandatory. Doesn't enter grades into canvas, so class is unstructured and takes some getting used to. Caring, but longgg class.
She's a nice person but the worst professor I've had at JMU. Only puts some grades on canvas so you have to track it yourself. Very difficult to know whats due when. Doesn't actually teach anything just tells stories it feels like class is a waste of time.
Hamilton is a disgrace to the college of business. she is the definition of unorganized and will do anything in her power to not teach. attendance is mandatory even though you can go the entire semester without learning a single thing from her class. extremely bias in her grading even though she doesn't even know what she is attempting to teach.
I hated this class not because of the material but because Carol. Attendance is mandatory and she'll fail you for more than 4 absences, but I pay to be here AND an extra $150 too?? Such a waste and I didn't learn at all. I didn't know my grade all semester and she is not open to feedback from students. She is extremely biased in her opinions too
The teaching style was not good; lectures were given in every single class, and all work was assigned outside of class. Lectures based on personal experiences rather than the textbook. Homework is slightly ridiculous due to the fact that she will not remind you about homework all semester.
Absolutely horrible. Not organized on canvas, useless busy work in class. Mandatory attendance and very little grades in the grade book that are graded harshly. Yaps about herself all class with nothing related to the actual class. would not recommend, the class could be so much easier.
Professor Hamilton cares a lot about her students. I learned a lot about myself in her class. She does a great job keeping you responsible and accountable. You'll learn a lot from her if you try!
