Nice lady. Class is all Connect homework along with 2-3 tests. The lectures are kinda boring, but she's really sweet and means well. Overall, it's what you'd expect from this class; a solid choice for accounting.
Professor Hulsey is an all around great teacher/ person. She loves to teach and is very good at it ! If you listen in class and do the homework you will be fine. Take her class for accounting !!!
This is a hard course in general. She really helped me while I was struggling. Gives multiple extra credit assignments. We were also allowed to retake our quizzes to get better grades. Talk to her if you are struggling and she will help in any way she can.
Professor Hulsey is a really nice person and does care about how you do in the class. However, many of her homework assignments covers bits and pieces of information we lectured about in class but significantly more in depth and in examples we did not lecture over. This results in lots of confusion from students and stress.
Awful. Simply put. She had a good rating before I took her. Now it is what you see now. She simply does not teach well. I went to a tutoring session held by a grad student, along with multiple classmates, and learned more in two hours then I did in a whole month with her. Please just take someone else.
She is not a good teacher. She never really answers anyones questions directly. The class is still possible to pass if you can teach yourself. There are 3 tests the last one is cumulative and can replace your lowest test grade. There are quizzes over each chapter. Tons of extra credit. If you go over the powerpoints, HW, quizzes, you can do good!
She is a nice lady but not very helpful. She doesn't teach you the material in class and honestly I studied just using the textbook. When you ask a question she may answer it, take the whole class to answer a simple question, or she may just not answer it. The test are not that hard. The problem is she doesn't teach you most of it in class.
Professor Hulsey is a very sweet lady and really wants her students to learn the material. Quizzes are difficult and the information on them is not covered in class, lectures can also be pointless and turn into a rambling session. Sweet lady, solid professor, would take again
I find that staring at paint drying is more interesting than Professor Hulsey's class. She gives nothing but dry lectures and hardly engages the class with anything useful. Most of what I learned came from using McGraw Hill Connect which will be essential if lectures aren't your thing. Content is tough to be fair but tests were online and fair
I struggled a lot with this class in the beginning, but she was ready and willing to help me, and it made a HUGE difference. I really enjoyed the class, and I really enjoyed having her as a teacher. The class is not easy, but if you ask questions, and go and visit her in her office, it will pay off BIG TIME!!! Highly recommend if you want to learn.
Prof Husley really cares about her students. She makes accounting 2200 very doable. Homework/quizzes weigh more than tests so its not hard to make a good grade in the class. She is very helpful and is always willing to work with you to understand material. Best accounting professor Ive had so far.
Professor Hulsey is nice and wants her students to do well; However, her lectures are boring . She has a lot of connect hw assignments that aren't hard but are sometimes annoying. The tests aren't super hard, but you will need to study to do well. Hulsey offers extra connect assignments as extra credit, but they don't help that much. v average.
Professor Hulsey really cares about her students and wants you to do well and if you ask her for help she will definitely help you through out the semester
Her lectures are amazingly funny she really cares about you and will talk to you in private if you need help
If you do the extra credit and go to class, this class should be an easy A. Her grading system is weird, but she gives you sooooo many opportunities for extra credit. Being in class was a waste of time, but she did have some assignments in class. She doesn't really lecture, but instead just goes over practice problems which rarely helped.
Professor Hulsey really wants you to succeed, but the class sessions didn't help too much. Her lectures didn't tend to help me. Review the learnsmarts and practice questions before tests, and you'll be fine. She is very accessible outside of class and will be happy to meet with you.
Professor Hulsey was great! Very caring and gave the class many many tools to do well. Lots of extra credit available. Class was only helpful for understanding the example problems. Do the learnsmarts and homework to prepare for the test it helps a lot.
Very solid professor. She cares about the students who want to put in the time and effort to succeed. Easily accessible at office hours. Quizzes are monitored with Tegrity and ARE difficult. 2 tests and final, neither are that bad. Would definitely recommend for first time ACCT students.
Professor Hulsey, is NOT someone i would recommend to my worst enemy. She gives ALOT of grades so its not impossible to make a good grade. But class is useless because she just rambles about things she 'thinks' we struggle with. Needless to say, it is absolutely no help. Class is useless to go to, test average around 50-60, and she's no help.
She's decent. Smart but a "meh" teacher. Quizzes/tests are difficult. Not too much homework. Easily accessible. Is a sweet person. Cares about students. Willing to help and wants you to succeed. Lectures are NOT necessary to attend as most of the time they turned into a rambling session. Overall? Super nice person but just an okay professor.
Professor Hulsey is fantastic! She gives you so many opportunities for extra credit. She also met with me several times over the semester outside of class to discuss course topics and homework. I would definitely recommend her! She's one of the sweetest people I've ever met.
She doesnt have a good method of teaching. Just expects students to know stuff that wasnt even on previous assignments and without teaching it. Class is filled with examples but no teaching of concepts
Prof Hulsey is amazing! Take her, take her, take her. She's emailed me back at midnight multiple times, which is so helpful considering I had her online due to the pandemic. Accounting is such a difficult intro class and she really helped. I think she bumped my grade up like 5 points so I'd get an A, but I'm not positive about that. Take her!!
I'm not sure where her high-ish rating came from. DO NOT take this woman's course. The tests are unnecessarily hard. She puts stuff on the tests that isn't on the practice to "stretch" your mind. Then proceeds to get an attitude if you say something. If I didn't have four other classes and a life to worry about, maybe her class would be alright.
I had her for financial accounting so I decided to make her for managerial accounting. That was a big mistake. Throughout the semester, she didn't teach the material and expects you to just study harder. The quizzes and tests are much harder than study guides. She is a nice lady and is willing to help. By the time the semester I was done with her.
Very helpful and understanding if you told her that you did not understand a certain topic. She was easy to contact and set up a meeting to go over whatever it is you're struggling with. If you are motivated and show that you care about your performance in the class, she is very easy to work with.
Awesome professor. She truly wants everyone to succeed and she deeply cares about the material she is teaching. If you are scared to take accounting, take professor Hulsey!
She is so sweet; she really wants her students to succeed. So much EC available to you. Let us retake the first two exams. The only issue was the lack of expectations communicated on a group project and boring lectures. Uses Proctorio on exams. Quizzes open note. Take her!
The tests are nothing like her homework and quizzes, they're very confusing. Her syllabus is also a little confusing when it comes to figuring your final grade. She also only gives a small amount of time for tests and quizzes (not enough time if you ask me). I just don't get her teaching methods in general, it's really confusing to me.
Those who give a bad review here this semester have not been showing up to class, haven't used the resources available, or both. This class is difficult by default. It's made so that if you want a good grade, you HAVE to use every resource available. Everything isn't just handed to you on a silver platter. Mrs. Hulsey is an amazing teacher. 10/10.
Financial accounting is a difficult course however professor Hulsey gives lots of opportunity to do well in the class and understand the material. If you study, do the extra cerdit and homework and attend class you should receive an A or B. You will need to put in the effort though!!!
USE YOUR RESOURCES IN THIS CLASS OR YOU WON'T PASS! The SI Anish was very helpful throughout the semester and was one of the reasons why I got an A. The HW was a little much and didn't help, but the quizzes and extra credit is very similar to the test so study those. Extra credit is given. Every bad review is just lazy imo.
This course is difficult I recommend some other professor who knows what they are doing.
She is not suitable to teach this course. Take Somebodyelse!
Take somebody else, who can teach this course!!
Use your resources because Professor Hulsey does not teach the course!
Professor Hulsey really cares for her students. Any of the bad ratings are because students did not show up to class. Accounting is a very tough course in general and I am glad I had someone as sweet as Professor Hulsey. Use your resources, tutoring is offered and there is a lot of extra credit. Exams are on lockdown.
Even though I made an A in this course, this professor does not explain on how you solve the problems!
Amazing professor, she explains concepts in the book in much simpler ways. She gives tons of extra credit and its worth it to do those assignments. Theres one group project at the end of the semester. Overall amazing
Take this professor, if you can teach yourself the material. She makes simple things seem diffcult, but they are not that difficult.
Take this course if you can keep with the pace, she goes so fast. The SI Anish was helpful throughout the semester. I would not recommend Prof. Hulsey!
She is a professor. but I feel like she should prepare the material in a better way where everyone could understand her.
Prof Hulsey was extremely sweet but if your are not a business/accounting major you will be completely lost. The lectures were way too fast and I felt like there was so much homework and not enough time to finish it. To be fair she gives a lot of extra credit but I did more work in that class than I did for other classes that aligned with my major.
Dr. Hulsey is a nice, but she did not help when I asked her for helped. She ignored my questions and email, but luckily I managed to get any A in her class. Would not recommend her as a accounting professor!
This course can be difficult at times, but this professor does not make it clear in class when she goes through lectures and examples. The SI Anish was helpful throughout the semester. The test can be difficult but its mangeable the extra credit was helpful for the test. I got A!!
She does not have a good method of teaching, and the class is filled with examples that may confuse you.
She is NOT a teacher. Lectures are worthless. Class was 100% self taught. She mostly takes up most of your time. I got A because I went to the Si Anish to get help on things that I struggled with Accounting. Do not recommend this professor, but she is nice and provide helped when needed!!
I took this class while back, and she still did not improve on her teaching methods. If you go to the SI, They will help you a lot more than the professor!
I managed to get a 97 out of this course because all the SI were good at teaching the material, while Dr. Hulsey made the subjects confusing for no reason. I would not Dr. Hulsey as a professor, but she is really nice compared to other professors.
Theres a ton of extra credits, practices, and extra help if you are struggling, but I recommend that you study and read the textbook because Prof. Hulsey makes the subject difficult.
Accounting is a lot of content to take in, professor Hulsey gives a lot of work that just comes straight from the textbook. She's good at lectures and gives good examples but sometimes she can go on and on about stuff not on topic. BUT, her class offers SI sessions which helped a lot. It's a lot of work but she offers a TON of extra credit.
Hulsey's teaching methods are elementary at best. What she teaches barely scratches the surface of what's on her tests. She spent the first 20 minutes of our 50 minute class going over the syllabus; she did this every single day/week. But, if you can teach yourself the concepts you're golden. I didn't attend class for weeks on end and got an A.
Please take literally anyone else for Principles of Accounting 1. Worst professor I've experienced at KSU thus far.
Easily the worst professor at Kennesaw state. The most arrogant and disrespectful teacher I have ever had. You would think that as a college professor you would have some understating on the material, but she is absolutely clueless. DO NOT TAKE HER ACCOUNTING CLASS.
Sucks, shes never gives out the passwords for bonus assignments.
So I will say that professor Hulsey is a nice woman and I do not doubt that she genuinely wants the best for you. However, I felt completely in the dark during my entire time in this class. She does not follow a schedule like most professors and you will often walk into class with a surprise quiz. You will also have to rely on the textbook to learn
I do not understand why people are hating on this teacher. Incredibly easy class if you listen and do a little bit of studying. There are 9 modules and it's the same rinse and repeat work but on different topics. You're given a pre-class learning thing and doing that is all you need. So easy that I played Clash Royale all class and still made an A.
Look, this is an online class with attendance attached to it. You have to absolutely show up every day and it sucks. I missed an exam due to covid, and still have not heard back from her about that. She will do everything in her power to make sure you never see an assignment you missed, unless she feels sorry for you during that week. DO NOT TAKE!
Professor Hulsey is a very kind woman. She does care about her students and will be flexible if you communicate with her and show effort. Her D2L is not always up to date. The material is not terribly difficult you just have to apply yourself and actually think. As long as you stay up to date you should pass.
Overall she is good and caring. I'm not sure what her teaching style is, you basically teach yourself with the videos. She is always willing to help if you need it though.
I feel like I spent more time doing random busy work assignments then actual learning, in class she doesn't teach just reviews what you learned at home (2 HOUR AT LEAST A WEEK IN HOMEWORK, super mind melting). If you do all the pre class assignments and give half effort to everything else you will do fine. Google is your friend for this class.
Professor Hulsey is a very disorganized person. The class is also very homework heavy so be aware of that. She barely teaches but when she does, her lectures are mediocre at best. Choose this professor if you are able to teach yourself the material and deal with lots of unnecessary work. Extra credit was the only way I got an A so do all of it.
Horrible professor who is extremely disorganized and does not teach! There is also a massive amount of work in the class. Tests are also very difficult. DO NOT TAKE HER UNLESS YOU WANT TO SUFFER!
Don't procrastinate in the homework assignments. Homework is time consuming, also review the pre-class videos and textbook and you'll do well. The professor is nice and offers extra credit. She is quick to respond to emails.
Professor Hulsey has a lot of assignments in her class. If you do not go to class you will not pass. Almost every assignment is done in class rather than having tons of homework. I personally did very well in her class and this model of teaching helped me a lot. There is one group project at the end of the semester and only 3 tests and the final.
Professor Hulsey is beyond knowledgeable in her field and is quick to help connect topics to real world events. She was also caring and understanding if you actually tried in class. Unfortunately, our class was full of people who spent more time whining about attendance vs actually attending class, so the lessons moved slow.
Prof Hulsey class was good. She provided plenty of extra credit opportunities and a make-up test to make up for points. There is an SI for her class, that will help assist students outside of class to help students understand the concepts that are being taught. Attending class is very important because there are in class assignments and quizzes.
Carol is a nice person, but she was not helpful at all when reaching out or explanations or help with material. She will show you how to properly workout a problem and explain it but sends you home with HW with a problem that is completely switched from what she showed. Her study guides do not help I had to create my own after the 2nd test.
Doesn't know what's going on in her own class, wait until the last minute to open quizzes, attendance is something like 60% of your grade and you're expected to learn EVERYTHING outside of class, then do pointless assignments in class. I failed because I gave up, but if you value your grade and sanity avoid this teacher.
Great Professor that wants you to pass the class, gives out extra credit. Constantly trying to make sure everyone is caught up, and actually TEACHES the information that's given
I don't like her way of "teaching". tons of homework and nothing is done during class really except class work assignments that she gives the answers to. there are better options.
I loved Hulsey for my first financial accounting course. I recommend taking her. This course can be hard at first but as long as you put in the work you will definitely be good!
She's very friendly & wants you to succeed. There is a decent amount of homework every week, but she occasionally pushes things back and is pretty lenient with late work. Great class if you're good at teaching yourself. Don't take if you're looking for an easy A. Gives multiple attempts on quizzes & classwork. She also drops lowest test grade.
She posts study guides identical to the test. She also drops the lowest test grade. Lots of assignments. If you are self motivated this is definitely a good class to take. She pushes back due dates on a lot of assignments, and offers retests if most of the class fails. Tests are usually in person w lockdown browser, but sometimes has them online.
Professor Hulsey is a great teacher for accounting, the test are in person and kind of hard but she gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit. She really cares for students and wants everyone to not only pass but succeed. There is weekly homework and classwork but she goes over it in class. If you take accounting take Professor Hulsey!
Professor Hulsey was a great professor, accounting is just a tough course. She was always there to respond to emails, happy to give extensions when needed, and always cared about us on a personal level. It is a lot of work, but Professor Hulsey was always there to give assistance: just ask.
All the people that have something bad to say about Professor Hulsey, did not try at all in the course. She extends deadlines when the class is struggling on a topic and she goes over the homework assignments in class. Attendance is not mandatory, but you should definitely attend if you want a good grade. Some topics are tough, but still recommend!
Carol is very sweet however she does not know how to teach, you basically teach yourself, you have 5 assignments due per chapter that are very lengthy, she wants 2 major assignments due the week before an exam and the day after an exam a chapter is due. Her lectures are basically review but she goes on tangents. If you can find better take it.
If you have another option take it, this class is very work heavy you will have 5 assignment's due each week. Accounting is not easy but when you have a professor that does not know how to teach it makes it 10 x more difficult. She really is so kind but does not know how to teach
Proff Hulsey is very kind but her teaching style isnt effective at all, this class feels like an online class as you teach yourself everything on connect and go to class for a review but she does not know how to explain anything. Overall very kind but horrible teaching style
Run just run this woman has unrealistic deadlines, wants you to pass but is horrible at teaching just run
Worst professor to have for a hard class. the material is a bit challenging but then you have a professor who does not how to teach what so ever and makes you learn from watching videos at home? Taking her is etting yourself to fail, find someone better
Kind professor but has no idea of what goes on in her own class, she really wants you to pass but she does not know to teach do not take her.
She isn't considerate at all if the class is struggling and only pushes back deadlines if the assignments are lengthy but thats all. I had to drop
I wanted to like her but this class was horrible.
Dont take it's not worth the stress
even if you try you are set for failure, she really is so caring but this class was hard, the material is hard and it doesnt help that she doesnt do a good job teaching it
Prof. Hulsey is a great teacher I don't know what all these other reviews are talking about. She is very caring and will give you extensions if you ask. It's a hard class but she is a very good teacher and if you pay attention and do the work you will be fine. It is a lot of work but you can get everything done in less than 2 hours out of the week.
I took it over the summer and while it was intense at times due to the relatively heavy assignments (smartbooks, practice assignments, essay, excel project, and packback discussions) I learned and retained a lot. She cares and goes out of the way to help you. Overall, I enjoyed her as a teacher and would recommend.
Her lectures aren't very informative so I stopped going and kept teaching myself because that's really how her class is structured, teach yourself and lecture is review but she has no teaching style and is all over the place. I want to say that she's caring but she also can be a bit snappy. If you can take someone else, do it.
She is so sweet and understanding. She teaches very well and will answer all the questions you ask her. I forgot about a huge project and she accepted it a month late and gave me full credit because she saw I worked hard on it so she is very sympathetic. Everything besides the project is on connect and she make accounting about as fun as it can be.
You didn't really learn anything from Professor Hulsey, you have to teach yourself. With that being said, she really does care about her students and if you have a question she is willing to help. She posts online lectures but they don't really help. She will also post videos of her doing the assignments so it helps as well.
Hulsey is kind & wants the best for her students but she does not have a teaching style. Her lectures aren't informative. You watch 30 vids online for each unit & that's how you learn. Then go to lectures & she just goes over the work but it takes her 30 min to solve a 5 min problem. I taught myself 100% in her class, take someone else, she sucks.
She is very caring and really helps you out a lot when you are struggling. I really appreciate her and she is such an amazing professor.
She's a great professor and knows how to break things down. She's great at answering questions and providing resources for us outside of the textbook or homework. I would say at certain times the timing of her assignments can be cramped.
Her lectures aren't very helpful but she is always willing to work with you. For tests, you have study resources. The only thing that matters on those study resources are the comprehensive reviews. If you use these, you're guaranteed to pass every test. Overall, the class isn't that bad.
I dont understand why prof. hulsey is rated so low. she's the only prof i've seen that cares about her students. She gives a lot of bonus points, exam retakes and offers a bunch of study resources for exams & homework assignments. I can say i always enjoyed her class and even the weekly work she assigned us even if it at sometimes it was a lot lol
She cares about her students, however, I didn't find much value in going to the lectures. I mainly taught myself in this course, there is a lot of homework, including a video overview of the chapters. She does provide many resources and often works through problems in the class (very helpful). If you keep up with the work its an easy A.
There was a lot of homework I must say, but she doesn't start material until a week after classes start. Honestly that first week you can knock out a lot of work without going to class because it isn't hard. None of it is hard. She doesn't teach from the book directly, but it does help. She does give A LOT of extra credit.
If you do not study the Great Adventures and classwork you WILL fail. 5 assignments due every week. She does have extra credit opportunities and is lenient on extending assignments. I would not take her again because of how much HW she assigned. The exams are heavy on filling out journal entries. She cares very much about making sure we all succeed.
Professor Hulsey is a great professor. There was quite a bit of homework, however, if you put in the work, you will do great in this course. She provides many extra credits opportunities - take advantage of ALL of them! If you find yourself struggling in this course, reach out to her - as she really does care about her students.
all the homework is done online and if you have any questions she does a good job of answering them. this is a class where you teach yourself and then go to her when you have questions.
You will have to do a lot of homework. She is sassy; I would say don't take her, but find another better teacher.
This class was hard at first, but got easier as the semester went on. Make sure to understand the first few chapters! The key to the tests in this class are the comprehensive reviews. The lockdown browser test questions that I had were always a selected few from that, just different numbers. Do all the homework and earn every point possible.
Hulsey was a very sweet professor and helped me whenever I was confused. She explained well and never failed to answer my questions via email. Her exams are proctored but she gives a lot of extra help such as video reviews and reviews in connect that are not for a grade like other classes but really do help you.
Took her my first semester at college during Fall 2022, overall solid experience. Was happy to answer questions, and provided extra credit at the end of the semester. Accounting is never an easy A, but she made an effort to cover a lot of complex topics for the majority of incoming freshmen to succeed in learning.
she is very nice and such a great professor. ready for the online tests/exams, you will have to turn on your camera the whole time and PLEASE save some RAM capacity for your computer or else it would kick you out. I'd say attendance does matter in her class, so is participation. she'll give extra credits for attendance at the end of the semester.
I LOVED HER! All assignments and tests are online, tests are locked down with camera. Every hw assignment is through connect and you get two attempts. It is so easy to get good grades on all of the assignments and she gives study guides for the tests. There's a textbook but you don't need to use it. She is so sweet and answers emails promptly.
Professor Hulsey's class is very straight forward. She assigns a fair amount of homework where you will learn the most information. Her lectures are mainly to reenforce and review homework topics. Make sure you do the homework before class and you'll get a good grade in class.
Professor Hulsey does not teach in class, a big part of your learning will be online assignments. In class she mainly just goes over homework. You will have to rely heavily on the SI sessions to learn. All tests are on Proctorio, locked down with camera and screen recorded. She can be a bit rude at times so try to get on her good side.
If you are not interactive, you will not get a good grade. Professor Hulsey is very knowledgeable about the subject I thoroughly enjoyed her class and teaching method, she's good at explaining and isopen to questions. If you answer wrong, she doesn't make you feel embarrassed, As long as you are an active student you should not expect any problem
This is a solid option to take for accounting one. If you focus on the exam reviews and can do all the questions on those, you can make an A on all the exams. Do your best to stay ahead and get a good grade on the first two exams because the lowest exam grade is dropped and it only gets more difficult over time.
I can see how some people can struggle in this class. Accounting is very hard. However, her lectures are great. If you go to all of them, she explains complicated things so that you are able to understand them and goes over some of the homework before its due. If you want a good grade I recommend going to the lectures and paying attention.
Professor Hulsey genuinely cares about your success. The class is given via McGraw Hill's Account Connect portal, and is homework heavy. Do the work, take the good grades on the homework, and do the exam review. Worst test grade drops. I was concerned going into this class, and was struggling coming to the first test. Review & notes saved me! Take!
Mrs. Hulsey is a very straight-forward professor. Her class is easy if you put the time in. There is lots of homework so be prepared to spend time and use time wisely to finish your homework on time. You will learn a chapter per week with about 4-5 assignments due each Sunday. I advise to manage your time wisely to finish your assignments.
She has a heart in teaching, though she does not do a great job in the classroom. There is very little reason to go to class because basically all of the work is online.
If you can't learn online then don't take this class. Professor Hulsey expects students to complete chapter homework before class (even if it isn't due until the end of the week) and her lectures only consist of answering questions and only covering a fraction of whats actually expected of you to learn. Also 8am with her makes my brain melt.
this teacher did not hold class on Fridays and instead held SI sessions. all learning in this class is reading the textbook and watching videos on McGraw hill. crazy levels of proctoring on tests. go with a better proffessor.
This professor wasn't great with lectures, I had to teach myself everything, so if you're good at that then you will do fine. The exams aren't overly difficult if you do the reviews and read the textbook you will be fine. However, don't expect powerpoint's and notes, because you really won't get any. But if you have to take her, I wouldn't worry.
Professor Hulsey is a knowledgeable person and provides help when you need it. Attendance is not mandatory and there were SI sessions on Friday, which helps with assignments. The lowest exam grade is dropped. However, to be successful in the class read the textbook, do the comprehensive reviews, and all the assignments.
Professor Hulsey is very knowledgeable and willing to help. The class relies heavily on online assignments and SI sessions, but she provides extra credit and resources like video reviews to support learning. unstuck AI was a helpful study tool alongside the textbook.
Professor Hulsey was so sweet and always willing to help if you asked for it. She explained in detail whatever topic we were on and was very lenient when it came to grading. I would 100% recommend this professor because you can tell she really cares about the subject and her students!
There is a lot of homework and learning out of the textbook in this class, but her lectures supplement it very well. Half the time she will go over the homework in class as well. Attendance not mandatory but definitely recommended; she will help you if you are confused, and will stay after class as well. Exam reviews have questions direct from exam
If you want to be happy do not take her. Doesnt teach you anything just goes over the homework in class. 5 or 6 homework assignments per week which can sometimes be really long. She doesn't really care if you're taking other classes or not she just thinks her class is more important than anything else.
I loved taking accounting classes with Professor Hulsey! If you pay attention in her class, you will pass. Honestly, it is a harder class, but she will walk you through the problems if you don't understand it. She often goes over homework in class, which is helpful cause there is a lot of homework in her class. 10/10 would recommend
This class is mostly self-taught. She lectures in class and goes over homework with you step by step, but you need to learn the basics of the material each week independently. It's roughly 3 homework assignments and a quiz each week. 3 tests and a final, she drops the lowest test score. Go to class and do the homework. Wonderful professor!
Honestly taking this class is almost the equivalent to an asynchronous course. I didn't learn much from the lectures and eventually stopped going. She assigns a lot of homework to balance out the tests. The tests are pretty difficult but that's just accounting. I suggest going to SI sessions if you can. START THE EXCEL PROJECT EARLY, trust me.
Only take this class if you can teach yourself everything online. Professor is nice but I barely learned anything in her class so I stopped going. SI is helpful but most of the learning you do is on your own. Make sure to study the comprehensive reviews before the test because the test questions are almost identical to it.
I don't know why her rating is so low, this Professor saved my life. I had to retake Accounting 1 because the first professor, Andrew Trotman, wasn't good. But when I took Hulsey, she changed everything about accounting for me. I will be forever grateful, and I recommend this professor.
She was awesome.
An assignment worth a large portion of my grade was distorted on D2L preventing me from completing it. She never answered her email left me unable to complete my assignments. I even gave her ample time. Additionally, she seems like she may not even do anything for this class since there are no lectures and no responses to emails.
She's the kind of teacher that wouldn't let you make up work if you were hit by a truck and had to get your food through a port in your ear. Slow to respond to emails and will not answer questions after class bc shes too busy. She's a “thoughts and prayers” type who doesn't care if you learn and out of ‘fairness' will f you over.
Professor Hulsey is amazing. Her class is challenging but fair, and her passion for accounting shows. Stay on top of deadlines! The best part: her reviews are exactly like the tests, which makes studying much easier. If you're willing to put in the effort, you'll do great. Highly recommend!
Overall takeaways: tests are HIGHLY proctored, requiring both your phone and computer. She gives test reviews before each exam that are COPY AND PASTE of what the test will be (different numbers, same questions). Lots of extra credit, 2 attempts on all assignments/quizzes. Nice lady, attendance is not mandatory, lectures are not super helpful.
This course is difficult but with this professor you should easily pass. She was always helpful, explained things and always emailed back quickly. she is older and can give off kind of off vibes she's super nice. Respect her and she will respect you. This course is hard but do the work when its due and understand the work and you should pass.
Dr. Hulsey is an amazing professor! Don't let the one-star reviews discourage you. Accounting is a difficult subject and requires you to actually read the textbook. The lectures expand on what you read in the textbook. If you're not willing to read the book you paid $200 for then why take the class? But she is a wonderful professor who you'll love.
I would not take this professor again, especially if you tend to have technical difficulties. All the exams are online and heavily proctored (two cameras on you, and you have to be on call with a proctor, it's ridiculous). I did like her at first; she made the class enjoyable. However, the review assignments are very short.
Showing up to class does not matter, as the lectures do not help students understand the material. Read the textbook and you will be more than fine. I would recommend completing the comprehensive reviews because they are extremely similar to the exams.
The exams are online and proctored you are watched from two cameras. The comprehensive reviews match the exam, so doing them helps. 2 attempts on quizzes and assignments. The professor is nice, and I would highly recommend her. The lectures can get boring, but if you do the homework and study for the exams, you should be fine.
I wouldn't recommend her unless you are fully prepared to learn it all yourself through McGraw-Hill. Every week, there are 3+ hw assignments due, each taking hours to complete if u want to put in effort. She does offer extra credit, but after the hw you won't feel like doing it. Reviews match tests but she takes them away far before the test date.
Very nice professor, but class can get boring. Attendance not required. All assignments are turned in online, including proctored exams. Good bit of homework and textbook heavy. The amount of HW does a good job preparing you for tests however. The mock exams are almost the same as the actual tests, so do those and you'll pass with an easy A-B.
Challenging class, but she truly wants you to understand and succeed. You must do the reading, homework, and extra credit.. but if you do, it's very doable. Hands-on learning, tons of extra credit, and study guides that practically give you the exam answers. Highly recommend
What I say is that the class is to be expected, its accounting. Its not too bad, the exams are just like the practice exams. Prof Hulsey will help you if needed. Recommend extra tutoring on the side to succeed. Lots of work in between exams for cushions to help boost grade in her class. Fyi exams are protorio.
