This is the worst teacher on the entire campus. Every class she covers at least 2 sections a day plus all the homework from each section is graded. Even if you go to class its such a information overload that you cant understand anything. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!

This is the worst teacher at CMU and possibly the worst in the world. She wouldn't let us wear hats, girls can't wear tank tops and she gave college kids a seating chart. If you want teachers 1920s style, this is the professor for you.

oh wow, i hated the class, and i withdrew from it cuz i hated it and her so much! I didn't understand anything she showed us, and was behind in the class and it was horrible.

She is a terrible teacher. She teaches half of what appears in the homework and gives out "projects." Her tests are usually hard and the class average ends up being 60% or below. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS.

WORST PROFESSOR AT CENTRAL!!! she is an awful teacher...do NOT take a class with her. She grades her tests extremely tough, and does not curve at all. She also refuses to have review sessions because she claims they are unethical. She makes very little sense during class, and you will never understand what she is trying to teach.

Dear God. I usually think that people are too hard on instructors, but she is AWFUL! Condescending, holier than thou, and truly doesn't understand why people just give up on asking her for help. I hated her! I am a math major and usually have no problem with learning this subject but the way she taught even confused me! She expects everyone to know everything about math in this class she said "Math 107 is an advanced math class, if you are in it you should know how to do everything." DO NOT TAKE HER UNLESS YOU ARE A MATH WHIZ!!!

She rushes through everything, skips chapters, but puts everything you could ever imagine on the test, and then doesn't give you any credit for doing work, (ex. mess up a sign), she marks it all wrong and you get no credit. Simply said... 3/4 of my class FAILED...

This teacher is the root cause of my math test anxiety. She goes way too fast when she's teaching the material, won't review what will be on a test, and then test day comes and no one has a clue where this stuff came from! Don't think you'll get credit for trying the problem, because you won't. Eccentric and wierd too. There are better options.

Math was pretty hard for me before I met a special woman. Carol Lanfear taught me to hate math so much more than I thought possible. In fact, she taught that I could hate a person more than I thought possible. After failing her class, I would have killed myself, but thanks to Ms. Lanfear, I was already dead inside. Thank you Carol, I Love You.

I was concerned after viewing the comments on here...after attending her class, the concerns were completely justified. I entirely regret not dropping this class after the first day. Can't stand this woman. So rude, violates school policies, and feels the need to write horribly loud on the chalk board. STAY AWAY!!!

BEWARE!!! She purposely moves very FAST through material. Math is a hard subject to grasp in itself. It's harder when your professor rushes you through instruction. She knew that half of my class was lost yet she did nothing to help. She continued to rush through everything. Very sad. She wasn't accessible or sensitive to students questions either.

Well i had her my freshman year and reading comments like these just brings back the horrible memories... She is a horrible prof and threatened to take me to the dean because i looked in the back of the book for an answer... if she knew how to teach maybe i wouldnt have done that... needs to roll over and die!! seriously

i have been attending central michigan for 6 years. i have taken numerous classes, carol lanfear is the worst teacher i have ever had in my life. I took this class at a community college and got an A. I took it with her and got a D. I dont see any reason why she still has her job.

How do you think this makes her feel. 38 freakn pages of bad reviews! 38! No other teacher at CMU has more than 10! This is embarasing. A 1.6 average our of 5 one being the lowest. WOW! Somebody needs to adjust a little bit. I'm not trying to be mean but there are more than just a couple of sour grapes here. There are 38 pages of them.

I'm reading these posts roughly 15 years after taking Lanfear for Calc II and would say that it's amazing that nothing has changed in that time. The reviews of her style perfectly describe her from all the way back then. As an alum, I think it's pathetic that she's still teaching at my alma mater...& yes, we did complain about her back then too.
