Professor Lewis is a great teacher. She makes a detailed outline for the students to fill in(in class)so you dont have to take notes like crazy. Just be sure to study the outlines before the test or you will do bad.
great great teacher. makes learning come to life. has passion, and that's what makes her great.
Carol is a great teacher she defenitely has passion and she is willing to help you. If you reveiew your notes (which she makes for you) you should get an A.
She is a great teacher. Gives out good study guides. She makes the class fun.
awesome lectures, detailed study guide but extremely difficult tests so you have to study. class is fun to attend
great class and teacher. lectures have premade notes. juss fill them in during class. study and memorize notes in the order it came with, and its the same order on the test. plus theres extra credit too!!
I don't like history, but she did make it interesting. She is very organized with her class. A good teacher for the subject.

Easy professor= Power point presentation as lectures with handouts that coincide. Minimal book reading, test on notes. **dont put your feet on the lecture hall seats - so my cousin said** overall funny lady!
So much fun. Makes history more fun that it already is ;-). just take notes on the lecture (gives you handout) Super fun girl. Funny also.
GREAT PROFESSOR, SHE MAKES HISTORY COME BACK TO LIFE. MANY HISTORY CLASSES I HAVE TAKEN WERE BORING, BUT IN HER CLASS I REALLY LEARNED. HER POWERPOINT PRESENTATIONS ARE INTERESTING, AND ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS FILL IN THE BLANKS ON THE STUDY GUIDES SHE PROVIDES. THERE IS EX CREDIT. IT IS USUALLY A MOVIES TO WATCH (NO WRITING/JUST SIT BACK AND WATCH).
I wasn't able to have her for the entire class because she had knee surgery during the semester. What I did have of her though I enjoyed. She had handouts printed up for the whole class and all you had to do is fill in the few blanks she had based off of her power point which looked exactly like the handouts. It was cake! :)
Every lecture is a very organized power point, her tests were very hard if you dont study, the only way i passed was that she had surgery, had a sub lecture, and gave me C's for the tests she couldent give.
Great teacher. Gives handouts for lecture guides. MOst of class is on power point slides, willing to explain if you need help. You do have to study, but she tells you what she expects. Fair grader.
Great prof, lively, entertaining. very organized powerpoint slide shows, music to go along with themes. **DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT SCANTRON SHE REQUIRES FOR EXAMS?**

good teacher, but tough. makes it interesting!
I think she makes History a fun subject. By far one of the best history teachers I've had.
this class is easy. outlines are given, just fill in blanks. she uses all powerpoints and lectures with them. got some vid clips to make it sink in. however, this class is very boring. very monotonous. its the same thing every session just different subject matter. if your ok with that, take it. you'll enjoy it.
One of the easiest classes EVER, just because she is such an incredibly clear and great teacher. Anyone failing this class just is not putting in the time to study. Clear power point outlines and lecture, and test is basically given out on the fill-in-the-blank handout packet. Easy class, great teacher, take it and fill your requirements already
The handouts she has reminded me of high school. I hate having to memorize information off of a handout. I liked having the opportunity to learn about Margaret Sanger-- too bad it had to be from a lame LifeTime movie.
Great teacher and a total fox.
She is a very good teacher; very easy class combined with her youthful humor makes history a little interesting. She cut out study guides for every chapter that you fill in and if you study from that easy handout you will do fine on the easy tests. also opportunities for extra help (SI) are available. A good/easy history class!!!!
I think it's amazing how easy and interesting the class is with her. It's almost like she's part of our own generation and she uses words that we feel comfortable with. At the same time, she always makes sure that we got down the information, so she tries to add sound effects and video clips into her lectures - it's cool!
This class is very easy and interesting. She teaches by using powerpoint presentation and gives everyone an outline package to follow along. As long as you study the outline you will get an A. She puts in a lot of sound effect, film footage and pictures in her presentation, which makes it interesting. Just remember don't be late + pay attention
As mentioned, she's organized, fun and creative. She does not offer much of a challenge however, for tests are easy with no essay...something I feel is lacking for a history classroom. Nothing can beat the amazing film footage that she presents, and she has certainly spent hours in preparing the class for her students.
Great Teacher. She gives you everything you need to know. Shoud attend class, but if you miss one then you will be okay. But more than that, you might get like a C for the test or something. I got an A without attending the SI sessions, but if you struggle with this subject then you should think about going to them. The way she approaches this subj
Prof. Lewis is helpful, funny, and the best history teacher I've ever had. She hands out fill-in lecture notes that match her powerpoint presentations. The tests are on the notes/small article. no quizzes. Her presentations are filled w/pix and video clips and she tries to make it as interesting as possible. Two words: take her!
she is so clear and easy..take her...it's so interesting
Awesome teacher! Tells you everything you need to know for the test...so no surprises. Makes it interesting with film clips and pice. And always available if you need assistance. You can tell she loves her job. extra credit options too!
This teacher is freakin awesome. Everything on the notes is what shall be on the test so that the test can be very easily passed with minimal studying. Her lectures are fun and interesting due to her use of Powerpoint. She always shows great film strips and there are chances for extrea credit. One of the best professors here, hands down.
Lewis is a great teacher that cypress college is lucky to have. The tests are from her powerpoint lectures and a small section out of the book with short stories. (You don't really use the textbook, i got an A and never even cracked it open) She is intelligent, funny, professional, and passionate about history - take her!
No need to buy or read the book. Go to all lectures, use the study guide she provides and just study the notes she gives you. All tests are m/c and come right from the study guide notes. You do need to read the short stories she assigns. Great lectures ... have really learned a lot from her. Great teaching style.
wonderful teacher, down to earth, presents herself very professionally, lectures and notes are all test material, no book, loved her!
this teacher is the best. there is no need to buy the book. if you study the notes and listen to the lecture then you will get a definite A+. plus she doesnt even care if you go to class. Take her.
good teacher. has a really nice body for her age. very helpful. no need for a book. if u study its an easy class but if you just copy notes you'll probably get a c, but will like her anyway.
strict on classroom behavior..but is really cool other then that..gives out lecture packets so all you have to do is fill in the blank and listen..gets kinda long and boring but if you study her notes you'll pass the test..pretty easy.

this class is relaxing. she offers extra credit and most of the test questions r from the notes. attendence is not mandatory but u need the notes to pass the test. The overall class is ok, not bad

AMAZING TEACHER! LOVE HER! Clear, helpful, organized, no surprises. She lays out exactly what she expects... and it's not much she asks for, and if you do it, you will do well in her class! LOVE HER! I wish she taught every class at Cypress!
LOVED HER CLASS. I enjoyed every bits of it, it was very interesting and she always made it fun. History, I always thought was a major boredom. She proved me wrong. Easy class, fun, and you're bound to go out learning something. Totally reccomend this teacher.
Amazing I wish she taught more classes I would take them all her class is easy and fun she is extremely professional and her lectures are engaging. This class is one you don?t want to miss! She gives out study guides and lots of extra credit!
Mrs. Lewis is awesome! I strongly recommend her to anyone who has both great and little interest in history. Not only was the class pretty easy, but it's really interesting. She doesn't spend too much time on one subject which is good for people who have a short attention Span. Plus she has great shoes! Overall, take this prof. if you can :)
Best History teacher you will ever have! I hate history and I dreaded that part of my general ed but then I got in Prof Lewis' class. She is amazing! Knows her stuff like the back of her hand! Frequent tests but she drops lowest score.
Amazing teacher. She always looks great and listens to Diva music before class on the huge screen she teaches with. She uses surround sound for her lectures and is really funny. Take her, she is seriously awesome! Her jokes are actually FUNNY.
BEST TEACHER EVER! GIVES HANDOUTS FOR LECTURE TO TAKE NOTES ON AND TESTS ARE BASED OFF OF THE HANDOUTS. SHE HAS FUNNY JOKES AND MAKES CLASS FUN FOR EVERYONE. EASY A AND I LEARNED A LOT
Easy and Fun, take this class, EASY A for sure. She even gives handouts and decent amount of extra credits. Also, her lectures are fun.
By far the best teacher for History! She makes learning fun with funny examples to relate to real life and shows plenty of visuals. Has packets that are exactly like the test and test are easy if you pay attention. Attendance is mandatory! She makes you sign in and cell phones and walking in late are her biggest peeve! Take her!
GREATEST HISTORY TEACHER EVER! DON'T BUY THE BOOK! The answers on the tests come straight from the packets of notes she gives you! Plus, she gives a good amount of extra credit & she's funny too! Easy A for sure =) TAKE THIS CLASS!
Great professor!! Just lectures throughout the class, but is super clear and has a cool sense of humor. Just study the handouts she gives out and you'll get an A.
Just like everyone keeps saying she truly is a wonderful teacher. You show up to class, watch a power point, and take down some notes on a packet. She keeps the class well entertained with jokes. No textbook needed. Drops 1 test. She threw us a Christmas Party 2. Also she dresses stylish & has cute shoes. Awesome teacher! You must take her!
Very easy class. DON'T buy the textbook. Just show up for class because all the test questions come from the lecture notes/packet. She's really nice, but gets anal if she catches you on your phone or sleeping. EASY A!
Great teacher! Gives you outlines to follow for all lectures. As long as you go to class and study the outlines it is an easy A. She is very nice, helpful and funny. She really makes this class interesting.
She is really nice. a bit strict. I think chanel is her favorite because she mentions it every once in a while.. the exams papers were too old and were about to tear. during breaktime, some people (me too) just wanted to rest, but she always played music loud. She is always formally dressed and looks professional
I took her class in the fall of 2009 and all i can say is she is a very easy and nice teacher. She is a little bit strict on attendance but all she wants is students to succeed in her class. Just come to class and take notes in the packet she gives you and you'll get an easy A+++. good luck!~
A great teacher. She knows the subject and enjoys teaching what she knows. Uses powerpoint, videos, and sound clips to make the lecture more interesting. Has a test after every section, but it is easy. Assigns one essay at the end of the semester, but again it is very easy. I would definatly reccomend her.
Best F..ing teacher ever! Class was super easy as long as you study the hand outs.
Easy A, but you won't learn anything. The handout notes are practically the same as the test, so just study those. You can probably get away without buying the textbook, except you will need the ''American Harvest'' one, since like 1 or 2 questions per test will be on the article in that book. Take this if you don't care about history.
Love this teacher! good class and fun stuff, shes the best history prof! take her class!
I have both books of her class...look very new..anyone interest email me for the price>> [email protected]
as long as you go to class (on time), take notes (use the ones she provides), and read the pages in the book the notes say too, you will pass this class no problem. she enjoys what she teaches and you will get that from her lectures. enjoyed her class!
took both 170/171 in 1 sem. EXTREMELY easy, and EXTREMELY boring at the same time. After first few weeks i couldn't handle going to her class because it was so damn boring. Don't get the books you don't need it. Very easy A's
This professor is great. She is very helpful and clear with what she expects formher students. She does give extra credit that makes a huge difference. She hates it when people are late so do not do that. Overall she is great.
sometime i love the class, sometime i hate it cuz it was boring..anyway,easy A..
I LOVED this class and the teacher was spectacular. Lewis has re-sparked my interest in history. She is clear, concise, and has extremely easy to follow notes. If you read the book, follow through with the notes, and put forth any effort you pretty much guaranteed an A. She is also an easy teacher to talk to if you have any questions.
She is an awesome teacher. I ended up her class with an A. Tests are not so difficult. Plus, 40 points for extra credits
LOVED coming to class since she made it so fun and interesting to learn. She's very clear with her notes and has handouts which make the tests even easier.. I definitely recommend taking her class :)
Best HISTORY professor ever! She is extremely thorough in her lectures and her tests are designed to help you pass her class. If you fail her class than you are probably retarded or lazy. Take her class if you want to pass through history easy. Just show up to lectures and take notes on the outline she provides for her students. I love her class!!
Cool teacher, she works really hard to make the class enjoyable. Also, probably the easiest history class available.
Very easy to understand, and its very easy to tell that she loves her job. Take this class :)!!
LOVED this teacher. No homework EVER. Uses powerpoints for her lectures with lots of pictures and videos making the class more interesting. She's funny and it constantly making jokes. gives you handouts so all you really need to bring is a pen. tests every other wednesday are super easy and offers lots of E.C. TAKE HER!
Easiest history class ever. She gives you notes that follow her lecture and the test are exactly on the notes you take in class. Very professional and organized. Didn't use the book at all. She doesn't like people walking in late she will put you on blast in front of everyone. But overall great teacher
Mrs. carol its a really easy teacher. She cares about her students and makes sure they get a,good grade She gives slot of options lb how to improve you grade. She has to be one of the easiest teacher I have taken. She us also pretty hot and good looking. ;)
I learned to love History after taking this class. C. Lewis teaches in a way that is so appealing to students. Her Powerpoints are well made and presented. It's full of colors, sounds, images, maps and occasional videos clips to supplement the lecture. You have a test bi-weekly, but they're very easy if you listen to the lecture. A+ for Carol!
Fill in study guides for every lecture. Study those before the test and youll do fine. She's a great teacher with great sense of humor
Best teacher I've ever had! She is super funny and tells awesome stories. She sticks to the important facts and doesn't focus on names and dates do much. Read the textbook! The tests are all pretty easy. She also caters to every style of learning. Oh and she plays the funniest, best, weirdest videos before class. She's super nice and overall just a fantastic person and teacher.
I learned a lot in this class and would recommend it to anybody who needs their U.S. history transfer requirement. I studied the outlines thoroughly, went to SI classes, and did the all extra credit. By the time it was to take the final I could fail it and still pass with an A.
Best history teacher! Glad I was part of her class. She makes teaching fun and easy to follow. The study guides are really helpful and tests are easy! One take home essay. Just study and do the extra credits and you'll have an A in the class. I recommend taking her :)
I wish all professors were like her.She cares about the students.Makes class fun.Gives out an outline to follow w/ her in class.Even though the handouts are what to study for the 2 books are good to read to help reinforce the lecture. She lets u know your grades after every exam so u know where you stand in the class.Extra credit is also available.
This is a pretty straightforward course, 7 MC Chapter Tests(a low-score Test gets dropped), a 3-Page Essay, and a MC Final (Three Chapters rolled into one). Very little use of the textbooks, just xerox the needed pages from the circulation desk at the library. Lewis makes it so easy with the handouts. I got an A and fulfilled my GE Requirement too!
Great. Clear and to the point.
Prf. Lewis is awesome. She gives outlines for every chapter. A test every other week. She has a very good sense of humor. Loved her. Want an easy A....take her!
Her exams are right off the study guides. The study guide blanks are given in her powerpoint lectures. She's nice, funny and fair. Take her, it's not hard to get an A, really!
Prof. Lewis has gone the extra mile to make the subject interesting as well as entertaining. Her background in British history brings an important insight to the Revolutionary War period, not found in most history classes. Fantastic Professor. As far as the chili pepper goes, this gal deserves a "house afire" icon. Love your shoes.
She's way awesome. Not only is the class easy, she makes it easy because she's good at what she does. Definitely recommend her!
One of the best teachers at cypress ever. I was definitely not expecting to love a history class & actually look forward to it. She is so entertaining & her lectures are so effective that even though I have a horrible memory, they stick! Ive learned more in this history class this 1 semester than I ever learned in highschool. Easy class, great prof
Every single positive review on here is true. She is absolutely the greatest teacher, I LOVE her sarcastic sense of humor. You'll definitely learn and enjoy this class. If you can't get an A, I dont even know about you anymore...
Her study guides are so effective and she makes her lessons easy to follow. You can tell how much experience she has under her belt. Her class is straight forward, a test every other Thursday and she bases her tests on the study guides. I totally recommend her.
Definitely take her, the lectures aren't boring. Her notes are the study guides, if you study them you'll do great on the test. Also make sure you read the American Harvest sections she assigns, couple questions on those on the test. I don't read too much of the big book, since the study guide is a summary, though you can to reinforce the material.
You show up, get handouts, take notes, and listen to her lecture. The class isn't too bad. If you're striving for a high A in the class, give yourself a week before the test to study, like 2 pages of the notes a day and make sure you read the American Harvest sections, don't really need the big book, and if you feel like you need it, go to the lrc
Words can not describe how much I loved this class. Professor Lewis is by far, the best teacher I have ever had and I never wanted to skip class because she was so interesting. She explains all subjects very clearly and she really cares about history which is pretty contagious. I definately encourage you to take her!
Best teacher by far this semester. Attendance is important if you wanna do well in the class, everything on the test is directly from the handouts she passes out to take notes. If u study the handouts you will pass every test. Lectures are entertaining and she offers extra credit and doesn't give homework
Take the class, you won't regret it! She's a great professor. Study off the handouts she provides in class for the exams, and you'll be golden! It is also suggested you show up on time...
Pretty easy class, you get a handout and fill it in from her powerpoints, then a test every other week, not much use of the textbook, and make sure you're not late!
easy, all you have to do is study
Omy gosh sooooo amazing ms lewis is very interesting I love her class never wanted to skip I definatly reccomend her she's awsome funny and shes avalible outside of class for help
Great teacher! She is very engaging in her lectures and has a good sense of humor to go with it. Here are easy steps to get an A in this class: show up, study the hands outs before every exam, do the mandatory paper she assigns and the extra credit stuff if you can and you're all set. Hardly used the books to be honest so don't buy them.
I loved Lewis! At first i thought she was super strict, but then i realized she just knows what she wants out of students. BE ON TIME! I didnt buy the book just follow notes and do the paper and you are set.The tests are extremely easy as long as you study. She makes boring info fun. And she has the cutest outfits, would love to take her again.
Carol Lewis isn't the typical history teacher she knows how to keep everyone engaged in her lectures with many visuals not to mention she's always telling jokes There are tests about every other week and all the material is covered in the notes and lectures just BE ON TIME and prepared for class.
Loved her class! Made history an intresting subject and I'm not of fan of the subject. Her powerpoints are the best and her handouts are the study guides, exactly on the tests. Take her! Don't think it twice.
The professor sets you up for success. She gives fill-in-the-blank outlines for lecture, 7 exams, one 3 pg paper (ab your favorite ch. & what you thought of her class) & a final + extra credits. Got an A on every exam bc I read the textbook, so the books help, but I can see how you could pass wout it. Easy A if you're willing to put in the work.
Professor Lewis is really great! She is a professional hard working woman. Come to class ON TIME, don't talk while she is lecturing and It's that easy. Enjoy the class!!! She makes it IDIOT PROOF! The handouts are all you need. She is funny, sassy and knows her stuff.
She has great lectures, keeps you interested! Her tests are so easy and she is very funny! would definitely take her class again! She also gives extra credit which is a plus.
Lewis is 1 of the most intelligent and I must admit 1 of the most stylish teachers I have ever had. Her lectures are VERY informative and the packets really help for studying. But I got to say that taking 7 tests PLUS a final in one class session was a bit too much. So if taking tests is not your strong suit, I would stray away from this class.
Show up take notes. You can pass without the textbooks because her study guides are the test. I really enjoyed the lectures for Prof Lewis makes the whole course a fun learning experience.
She provides ALL the resources to pass the class and it's really up to the student if they're going to take advantage of that. Amazing lecturer - she's freaking hilarious - and her outfits are always on POINT.
Professor Lewis might look mean but she really isn't. She gives 2 EC that are worth a lot and can help your grade. No quizzes, but on the other hand many tests!! BUT, she provides study guides for you which are everything that will be on the test! Theres one paper which is simple because its your opinion of questions she asks. Just study & memorize
I absolutly loved Ms Lewis. She is available outside of class and gives extra credit. Best of all- I always wanted to be in class. I felt like I had been placed in a time machine and sent back to the era of history we were learning about. What an amazing teacher! Take her, you will not regret it!
Professor Lewis had great powerpoint notes!
Very easy class, show up and pay attention to the lecture and you'll get at least a B. Read the texts over once and you'll get an A. The teacher is nice, extra credit is easy to obtain, and it's actually history instead of just opinions like some teachers on campus. You'll get help if you ask, but you shouldn't need it.
She's an outstanding teacher. Just study her notes and you'll do great in her class. She gives out her own notes so that's a plus!
Go to class to learn, never use the book. That is the way to pass this class Presentations are great.
Professor knows how to lecture! Great way to learn the history of American past, presentations were produced well, study guides were amazingly crafted, and you didn't feel discouraged coming to class. Do not miss class or you will miss out on vital information for the tests. Books are not essential because of the lecture.
She gives a lot of opportunity for extra credit. She is very organized and as long as you get the notes, you will pass. The notes are exactly what is on the test. She gives out handouts that have the notes on them and you just need to fill in what is not on there from her lectures. Extremely easy if you study your notes!
very easy A. study the handouts and you will pass. very interesting lectures. the books are just supplements for the lectures/handouts. they help to clarify points and to fill in holes if you missed something from the book. overall prof. Lewis was very helpful and enjoyable. i would take her class again just to learn more. i learned a lot.
Hardly cracked the book open. Her notes are key to pass this class. She gives amazing lectures and on top of that she has a great personality. She's there if you need help too!
She is friendly and helpful. She wrote great notes to help students. It is easy to pass her class. Students watch movies to get extra credit.
The notes are the key to pass this class however they are very long therefor there is A LOT to memorize for the test. Usually there is a test every other week. She also gives extra credit. She is very strict about phones and will embarrass you if she sees it out.
I will be honest about Lewis' class. It was a very tough class, if you are not going to put in the time to study, don't take this class. Her tests are tough and her lectures, while informative, can be long and tiresome. Take this class if you really want to learn about US History and are committed to memorizing pages and pages of lecture notes.
Pros: clear cut, straightforward, do-your-homework-and-you'll-be-fine, skip-class-you-won't-pass, hilarious, truly cares about students, work-hard-for-me-I-work-hard-for-you, extremely fair, highly professional, engaging. Cons: topic is sometimes boring (it's college, what do you expect), can be harsh to students who don't follow rules.
You won't have an easier class than this one. She provides powerpoints and that is exactly what will be on the exams, etc. Provides extra credit for watching a movie. Extremely caring and interesting professor. As long as you write down her notes on the powerpoints, you will get an A. It isn't hard, just listen and study. Loved her.
Easy A notes end up being the tests. You could survive without the books but would miss a few questions.
The most organized class EVER. 25 question tests every other week on handouts that she gives out, bi weekly progress reports, HILARIOUS lectures literally felt like I was in a comedy class, and she is super stylish. downside is that if your memory isn't great it may be hard to earn an A because all this class is is memorization. Offers EC though.
Amazing PPT lectures. Very professional. Note handouts provided are the key to success. bi weekly progress reports. Memorization. Offers EC with extra lectures and a movie. 2 pg evaluation of her class at the end. The final is on the last 2 chapters taught. Multiple choice tests. Study the handouts. Easy A. Attendance is mandatory.
Get ready to read pages upon pages of lecture notes. If you have bad memory, then this class is not for you. Lewis' class is pretty much how well you can memorize those lecture notes.
Extremely easy class. There to help you till the end. Fill out her study guides as you listen to her lectures, her PowerPoints are key to her exams which are all multiple choice. Makes history a very enjoyable and fun subject to learn about. Devoted to keeping students on track and updated. Detailed progress reports. Hilarious and fashionable prof.
She is a friendly professor. She makes notes and is very helpful. Almost no homework.
Super easy class study and pass, but the most important thing she is so hot a real cougar.
Professor Lewis had an unique teaching styles, until she wasn't able to teach for the rest of the semester... Her lecture notes are based on her 7 tests and she dropped the lowest one. There are 2 easy extra credits. The final exam was pretty decent and well informed. Memorization is the key on passing this class for sure.
She was a good professor for the two weeks that she was there. Disappeared for the rest of the semester. Gurl, u ok? where u at
Carol Lewis is the best teacher at cypress college by far. She's so sweet and understanding. She truly wants you to succeed, but she just asks to see that you want to succeed yourself. My dad was very sick for a while and I missed 3 tests. She let me retake two of them. And drop the one I missed. Her lectures are amazing. She's brilliant!
she gives you fill in the blank lecture notes which is exactly what is on the test, so as long as you show up and pay attention and study with what you have youll do fine, she also gives almost 50pts worth of extra credit and has 1 paper, lets just say my friend barely went failed almost all test went to half of the ex cred and still passed w/a C
The professor is extremely clear about her grading criteria and her expectations. Drops lowest test grade. Just listen and fill out the notes she gives an outline for. I sit in the front, always pay attention, review 1hr for the test, and earn As! Studying hardly needed bc I learn so much from her lectures. Great content and great presenter.
There were no homework/classwork. There were only lectures/tests. This class was by far one of the easiest I have taken and hardest. Because it was hard to stay awake and concentrate. Her method of teaching lacks creativity and its bland. The key is to memorize here. It seems easy but its not. The test question can sometime be unclear. She is nice.
I hate history, but Im glad I took this class because it only required a good hour before each exam of studying for me to pass. I never got the textbooks, went to class here and there, went to one of the extra credits and got an A. Theres an exam each chapter so tests arent heavy, and she drops one. Theres an essay too but its easy.
Amazing professor, has a bunch of knowledge and it shows through her lecture. Only exams and an essay, no homework. Tests are straight from the lecture handout. Her lectures are very engaging and interesting.
7 exams, 1 final, 1 paper, and 2 EC opportunities. As much as informative and respects her students, I got bored of history. I would recommend taking this class with a friend so one day he can take notes and the other day you can. Class is based off of pure memorization of 7 pages each chapter. Exams are straight off handout and articles are online
I'm not even into History and I'm so glad I took her class. You don't even have to write your own notes for the most part, she gives out lecture notes outlines for you to fill out. Powerpoints show you exactly what to write and where. She's pretty funny, and passionate about History, and very professional.
Awesome teacher. Amazing lectures. Tests are ok just take good notes and youre solid. also, arrive on time she literally starts at the time class is scheduled and DO NOT COME LATE. She will put you on the spot and dont interrupt or walk in front of her when lecturing. Other than that she is one of the best teachers Ive taken. Would take again!
Her lecture is so brilliant. Well sometimes I was fell asleep, but it was not because her lecture was boring, so if my situation was not bad, I could wake up... Well if you take notes on her fill-in-the-blank packet, you should be okay for quizzes, but if not, good luck. Me? didn't study and barely got C.
7 exams, 1 final, and a 3 pg paper will make up your grade. She provides the handout for each chapters so just write the all the info from her PowerPoint. Go to her extra event. It will boost up your grade. Also, arrive on time and do not be late! She will give you the evil glare & call you out! You can pass this course without the books too.
Lectures were pretty straight forward. She provided fill in the blank notes and those were literally the test. Has a lot of extra credit so try to go to all of them! Don't take them for granted.
I'm not a huge fan of history class but Carol made it so interesting! Her powerpoints/ lectures are incredible! She provides the class with fill-in note packets, which makes for a great study guide. And she adds short historical films that takes you back in time. She offers many extra credit opportunities, where you can kickback and enjoy a movie!
A lot of chapter exams... 6 exams 1 final 1 take home essay Gives a lot of extra credit Clear grading
Very rock solid and entertaining lectures. Fill in the blank handouts are an ease with exams purely based on the handout with 1 or 2 questions from the book out of 25. Three extra credit opportunities that really help you out. Come to class, pay attention, and you're done for the day! If you walk in late, choose a seat closest to the door.
She is the most caring teacher out there! she cares about her students's success. She provides notes for every exam. Provides tons of extra credit. Just study before the test and you will for sure pass. Heavy lecture but helps you really understand the topic and help you recall information needed in the test.
You will not regret taking History 170 with professor Lewis she gives 3 extra credit opportunities 2 are lectures from 4-7pm worth 25 points each which helps a lot and the 3rd is a movie which is not long and actually a good movie! Fill in notes and test are straight forward you either got the material or you didn't. She is very funny & kind!!!
One of the best teachers I've ever had. Very clear coursework, almost everything you need to know is in the lecture and she's great about study guides. Very understanding and will try her best to work with you. Genuinely loves her subject and teaching it and made me love learning it (and I hate history). Kills cockroaches.
Very easy class. Exams are from the study guide almost word for word. Extra credit will boost your grade by a lot. If you do not pass with an A, shame on you.
Overall she's well-prepared for the lecture by powerpoint. Take care of the students well when announce them any changes (office hours, lectures, exams, etc). She gives students 4 chances of extra credit with a requirement to show up for the rest of the time. Exams are organized, focused, and not tricking students. Additional articles provided
This class is really difficult if you have high anxiety or have trouble memorizing. The final is literally a lot to take in in just two weeks. It's three to four packets for the final. I wouldn't really recommend this teacher if you are in DSS. Her class is very tough
Professor Lewis is very dedicated to her lectures they are long and very descriptive. Be prepared for lots of reading and memorizing. The exams are straight from notes and readings. Final exam is three long packets of notes. Btw, she offers extra credit go to all of them! Itll save your grade. Good luck!
Take Professor Lewis if you can! She prints outlines for the notes, gives plenty of extra credit, and is actually funny. The tests are almost the same as the outline so just look it over and you'll be fine. She also drops the lowest test and gives progress reports after each test which is great. Genuinely enjoyable class as long as you like history
Lectures themselves are not that bad. Really all you gotta do is memorize the handouts that she gives you bc they come straight from the exams. She drops the lowest score and gives ton of extra credit. If you come late, well don't come at all. get the notes from someone else & you will still get an A lol.
Prof. Lewis is one of the best professors at Cypress. Yes, she might have an attitude every now and then but that's only if you're being rude in class. She has a lot of extra credit opportunities that will certainly bump your grade up. There are chapter tests but don't stress about it too much. 10/10 would recommend
She is a great professor. Lectures were very interesting. I just wouldn't take this class again with her or any other instructor. Lecture notes were helpful but didn't have time to study for this class. Take advantage of all extra credit opportunities in her class.
Had Professor Lewis for history 170 and 171 and enjoyed both classes! Definitely read the textbook and the pages she assigned and study the notes, you will definitely pass the class! Everything on the notes and readings are on the tests. Also take advantage of all the extra credit she offers, its a definite grade booster.
I really like Professor Lewis. She's so nice, very funny and caring. Class is pretty straightforward, except there's A LOT to memorize, pages on pages of notes. Too many exams (7 total)! Final is the biggest. If you can't memorize well, class isn't for you. Do the extra credit! All of it! Makes such a difference for your grade. It helped me for sur
Loved her! very nice and sarcastic. lecture heavy but gives you a guide to follow along. Review is exactly like the exam. Few extra credit opportunities available. 1 double spaced, MLA like 2 page paper about your favorite era in history, very easy.
she is a very great history professor. she makes it fun for all. just don't be late to class. lots of extra credit opportunities. take her if you can. study guides are exactly like the test.
I love history and have had a lot of great history teachers. But she is definitely one of my favorites, very clear in what she wants and will quiz you exactly on what she has taught. Study your study guide before each quiz and you'll pass. If you enjoy history, you will love this class. If you don't love history, you'll still enjoy it.
Took her for 170. No homework except a very easy essay due at the end of the semester. Tests are all multiple choice, scantron. She gives you outlines for the notes. Literally everything on the tests is on those outlines, so just study those and you'll get a guaranteed A. She offers extra credit night lectures and an extra credit movie viewing.
I really enjoyed Professor Lewis! She is comical and very organized with her lectures and her material. Tests are multiple choice and she does offer extra credit. There was one essay, but relatively easy. She hands out note outlines that helped for the tests. I recommend that you read the assigned chapters to help with some of the test questions.
Shes the best professor ever!!! Her lectures are so interesting and fun. She uses a mic so its really easy to understand her. There was about 6 exams and the lowest one was dropped. She gave a ton of extra credit so it was pretty hard not to pass and just one easy take home essay.
She is a really funny professor and has a great sense of humor! Everyday she tries to entertain the class with her lectures with little humorous jokes along the way while having to take notes. The exams are exactly like the notes, and also tons of extra credit to makeup for missed points! Really hard to fail this class!
Professor Lewis is a great teacher! She also cares about her students. Your grade is based on 6 chapter tests, 1 final (3 chapters), and 3 extra credit options. The tests are all based on packets she hands out for lecture which are basically the test. Some light text book reading but make sure to read the articles she provides. Easy class to pass.
Shes a great Professor. Her study guides are helpful but if you dont study the articles or her notes , you will not get a good grade. She does drop one test. I didnt study well in the beginning so it was hard to raise my grade. Great Lectures and you cant be late to that class.
I've taken professor Lewis twice now and she is literally the best. Her lectures are actually really interesting and the study guides are exactly what's on the test. Personally I don't think you need a textbook, her lectures are enough. She gives about 3 extra credit possibilities which help your grade so much. It's hard to not pass the class.
Very easy class. She has pre-made notes packets that you fill out during lectures and they're basically your study guides. Test questions are all from the notes; it's very easy. Offers EC and no homework. Finished with over 100%, it's a very easy A.
Been in Cypress College for 4 years and this Professor is THE BEST HISTORY PROFESSOR i've ever had. Her class is very educational, Professor Lewis teaches history the way history professors should teach it, very interesting, exciting, and not boring! Her materials that she uses in class, are very helpful. It is clear that she wants you to succeeed!
Have taken history in both Fullerton and Cypress and so far she has been the best professor ever she is not biased, reading the articles and studying the notes will get you that easy A, i didn't need the textbook, she is very caring and she always encourages to go to her office hours, give a lot of EC opportunities,Never be late to her class!!!!
She is a great teacher but really lecture heavy.
Carol was an amazing professor! Participation is a big thing so you must be present. If you study the study guide you will be sure to pass the tests. Take advantage of extra credit opportunities because they add a lot of points and will boost your grade by a lot! Overall, I would take her class again!
Just lecutures notes and test. Take notes which are fill in the blank in packets she gives us, memorize those notes, then test is easy. TBH i didn't touch the textbook although she says we need it
A professor I really respect. w covid she adjusted so well to online and made powerpoints easy to access. tests are based on the study guides, audio lectures, and articles. pre-covid she wasn't boring in class and i enjoyed sitting in her class. she is one of those boomers who is cool and knowledgable. She is wonderful! take her!
I took Mrs. Lewis in Spring 2020. Her notes are basically study guides she provides for the whole class, rather than writing notes in the notebook. Her powerpoints I'd say were on point and I would copy what's on there. Since covid-19, she made this class consist of audio lectures and provided ppts on canvas. Take her! She's an amazing gem!
I would definitely take professor Lewis she only does quizzes after each chapter and offers two extra credit chances and will bump up your grade if needed! She insanely nice and wants her students to pass and is fast with responding to emails.
Professor Lewis did an amazing job of adapting her curriculum for remote instruction. If you need to take a history course I highly recommend taking her class because you will learn a lot and her lectures were never boring. Study her study guide and do the readings and you will do just fine.
She's very nice prof. for Hist class at Cypress College. 7-chap. quizzes (drops the lowest one) and 1 final exam. 2 extra credit essays. Quizzes & exam are very similar to study guide. If you prepare study guide and study it, you will get an easy A. Don't forget to do the extra credit assignments, they are very helpful to bump up your score.
The course was very simple. Just listen to the lectures, which were like 20 minutes at most, and do the study guide and you will pass with an A. She says to read the book and read the readings she provides but honestly I didnt and still passed with an A. Also, I thoroughly enjoyed her lectures and was highly interested in the material.
Professor Lewis was such a great teacher. Very thorough in her lectures, despite our current pandemic she tries her best to accommodate your needs in regards to testing and is very understanding. Unlike most Professors she cares about her students and provides as much help as you need. Lectures are very well put together and easy to follow.
Straight up, just download the power points so you can use them on the quizzes and you will pass. If you want to guarantee an A listen to the audio lectures and take notes using the study guides she gives you (not mandatory). All quiz questions can be directly found in notes. Very caring and engaging too, also fast/quality responses to questions.
By far the best history teacher/professor I have ever had. I do not like history, but she made this class fun. She always had a funny comment or something to add to the topic. She offers extra credit and I recommend taking it since it gives a nice boost to your grade. The tests are easy just be sure to fill in the study guide that she gives prior.
The textbook is "needed" but just ask a classmate for pictures and you'll be good. Prof adds the best comments during lectures and is kind. The exams are straightforward just be sure to take notes on the study guide because that helps a lot during the exams. I also recommend finding a few class buddies in case someone misses the notes. Great prof.
In the spring 2021 semester this was the easiest class I had tbh. Yeah it was a zoom class but still she had study guides that we would do in class she would give us answers literally. It was so simple and not stressful at all. Also during the exams you could just have your study guide next to you you'd pass exams which are also self-explanatory.
I've taken 2 courses with Professor Lewis, grades are based on points from quizzes & the final exam. She drops your lowest quiz score. Extra credit chances are worth 20 points each, that's more than enough to pass the class. Use powerpoint slides for the study guide answers. Highly recommend taking class. Very detailed during lectures & super nice!
great professor! She is VERY clear and concise. many questions from quizzes & exams are direct from lectures. SUPER easy A if you study & pay attention. She is sweet and caring and tries to keep her students engaged. I never liked history but i loved her class. She also gives extra credit opportunity for 10% overall grade boost.
Professor Lewis made learning about history so much fun. She has a good sense of humor which makes the lectures enjoyable. The study guides are extremely helpful in preparation for the multiple quizzes throughout the semester. Do the study guides, read the assigned reading, and listen to the lectures and you'll be squared away! Good luck :)
There is a textbook required, however I went through the whole class and didn't need it once. She offers well made PowerPoint slides that allow you to fill in the study guide she also gives out. As long as you fill in the study guides, you have all needed material for the biweekly chapter quizzes. She is incredibly knowledgeable and well-spoken.
Professor Lewis is an absolute gem. I loved taking her history 171 class this past fall semester. Her lectures are very easy to follow and she explains things in such a comprehensive way. Just study what's on the study guide and do the readings she assigns, and you'll be good. 100% recommend her!
Great teacher, there is no mid-term BUT she test us every section we cover. Total of 6 test + Final. The class started very easy but you have to work a little harder towards the end. Do the extra credit, if I did I would have got an "A" for sure. TAKE THIS CLASS and her HIST170
be sure to read study guide before taking tri-weekly quiz. You'll get an A if you spend enough time for it. She also gives 2 essay each can affect 5% of your total grade. 100% would take again
I took history 170 & 171 w/ professor Lewis & she is an amazing professor. She understands that history isn't for everyone & she offers extra credit essays throughout the semester. Although history is something that I really enjoy there are a lot out there that don't like it, the class was on zoom & she literally made study guides & went through it
Took her History 170 & 171 class. One of the best professors to take if you need to take US History. She does offer extra credit to improve your grade. Just pay attention, do every study guide, and you'll pass her class!!!
She is an amazing teacher and offers many extra credit opportunities to improve your grade, just do the work and you'll pass!
Professor Lewis is a seasoned professional. Her lectures are interesting, understandable and follow a provided study guide. Two extra credit opportunities are given in addition to quizzes after each section. There is a mid-term and a final, however they are not cumulative. She is very organized and wants to see her students succeed.
Awesome blossom! Super wonderful teacher and person! Her lectures are interesting and her Study guide/notes are exactly what is needed to know for her test. She definitely wants her students to succeed.
Amazing, simple, informative, and has an amazing presence. I wish I had an excuse to take her again, amazing amazing amazing. Very clear, very educated and the best college professor I've had so far.
She has you print out study guides that you fill in during the lectures. Quizzes are online, and she has a few extra credit opportunities available towards the middle and end of the semester. Lowest quiz gets dropped. She's very personable and her lectures are very informing and interesting. 10/10 I definitely recommend
She has some of the best ratings I have ever seen, and they are absolutely deserved. Professor Lewis stands apart from other professors because she genuinely cares about her students and material. This is evident in her power point lectures because most of the photos of historical places, she took the photos herself. Choose right by choosing her.
She was so kind and cheerful during her lectures. The class had a smooth format of lectures and being able to use those notes for the exams, very straightforward.
i love her!! super nice, caring, great energy. it is lecture heavy but she makes them super easy to read and understandable. she gives you a study guide that go along the lectures and that alone will get you a high B to an A in her class. super organized as well and makes history actually enjoyable
Keeps things extremely organized by making guided notes for every lecture that correspond with the quizzes for the chapter. Lectures have videos, pictures, and audio cues that make them fun and easy to watch and absorb the information. Overall incredible teacher and class, would take her class again just to learn everything she has to teach.
Her study guides/lectures are extremely organized and easy to follow. The tests follow the study guide word by word for the most part and there are three extra credit opportunities that can be quickly done. She may appear intimidating at first, but you quickly realize how fun and caring she is. However, being absent means missing 2+ pages of notes.
Professor Lewis is amazing. Her class was one of the best I've ever taken. For the study guides, she has you fill them in during class and all you have to do is memorize what's on them and you'll do great on exams. There's no homework, although there are chapters in the textbook you should read. The bottom line is, it's an excellent class.
Prof. Lewis is a very kind and patient lady. She's organized and you honestly don't need the textbook because she provides study guides for you to fill in during her lectures. The guides and quizzes are all the work you have to do. Her class is a VERY easy A, it's easier to pass than it is to fail. If you bomb this class, it's 100% your fault.
Amazing professor with engaging lectures. You will mostly be filling out a study guide as she lectures. Quiz every other week with references to the study guide mostly. Some of it references the reading as well so take the time to read if you want a perfect score. She's available outside of class too if you make an appointment.
Take her. Still obsessed with the shoes (if you know you know).
This was one of the best teachers I have had so far! There is no homework at all and only quizzes. She makes learning really easy with study guides that you fill in as she gives you the information word for word. There are multiple extra credit opportunities that guarantee and A. There's a textbook, but you don't actually have to read any of it.
This teacher is really great, you should take this class! it is very easy and she is caring and gives out extra credit, it's important to attend class, so don't miss on lecture notes.
She is very gracious in extra credit and with following her lectures. She will give you enough EC chances that really impact your grade. She only grades by exams and quizzes but her layouts are usually the same. If you go to her class and are respectful you will pass and be the one giving her the 5 stars. SHE SET THE BAR HIGH.
TAKE HER CLASS! She is amazing, I learned so much from her lectures she's super fun to listen to and watch while she lectures. Very knowledgeable and caring. She gives the class an outline for her notes and that helps so much. Show up be respectful, and take notes. You will be golden!
Such a fun class. Her lectures are entertaining & very clear. She provides study guides to follow along with the lectures and the tests are based on the study guides. She also offers multiple extra credit opportunities to help if needed. Just be respectful during lectures.
tests are VERY loyal to study guides and lectures :)
I had Prof Lewis for 170 and 171. She's super sweet and personable, you can tell she loves history. Her lectures are very easy to understand and very memorible. It's an easy class but you do learn a lot. I had her in person and online and I'd say online is more convenient, but you get the same treatment as you would in the lecture hall.
Her class was unbelievably easy. Take this class only if you need it for general education. If you're a history major you will likely not learn much as there's little incentive to study for this class since there is no homework or essays. Only open book tests that are done online. You have to try to get anything below a B.
She's a great and funny person but I just think the subject is hard to teach. There is so much that is cramped that it is hard to get a good concept on things. It is a really easy class to pass as all the tests are notes based. If you are not a history major and looking for an easy A then this class is good for you.
I would absolutely take her class again. Her lectures are interesting, detailed, and very thorough. The textbook is also in a good price range and can be purchased on amazon. She does not give make ups for her quizzes; however, she does give you more than enough time to complete them. I highly recommend her History 170 class.
This class is very easy show up and take notes from the lecture. Very few homework assignments.
The lectures were informational and straightforward. There is quite a bit of extra credit offered, which could be helpful. Overall a good teacher.
I took her class because I read these reviews, and she also said to rate her on Rate My Professor, so she probably knows what people are saying. Easy class, extra credit up to 20 points, really easy!! She gives out study guides, and they do mirror the tests we get. Final exam, she gives out what will be on it so easy A. If you fail, it's on you tbh
