If you have a good grasp of math then this is an easy class. She doesnt collect homework but if you dont do it then the tests can get alittle tricky. Paxton is probably the best math teacher ive had at GCC, she very nice and laid back.

It kinda sucks that she doesn't let us use graphing calc, but it might be aq good way to get your brain working. You should take her if you want to be good and quick at math.

Math 112 is a filter class for Universities to weed out the kids who don't cut it and she only makes it harder than it needs to be. If you want an A take someone else. This is not info you will need at your future job.

ms paxton is the best math teacher in gcc!!! i took her for summer(recommended) ..simply bcoz there's too much material and too little time for you to forget what you're supposed to do. i got an A..tough though, we did at least 100 problems everyday for homework...but we had fun! and oh! she's never gonna have a big class again, thanks 2 our batch.

I took her back in 2001, and because of her, I did very well with the rest of the math classes up to precalculus. She is understandable; not like Armenian teachers who are usually rude and have accents that are difficult. She knows her stuff well, and conveys it like wise. You will truely learn from her. She is the real definition of a teacher.

She is SO helpful. The subject is hard and at times confusing but she is always there at her office hours helping out students..(even other Prof's students) yes she's that good! But don't expect to Get an A without puttin the proper amount of time with the homework and the studying..good luck

Carol was a wonderful teacher. She explains very clearly and is always available to help you if you need it after class. She is clear about her expectations. BESTTTTT MATH TEACHER EVER! doesnt rush through the lesson and REALLY teaches! i HATE math but her class was super helpful. none of the math teachers at GCC can teach like her. i'm in 101 now and everything she taught me 2 semesters ago stuck! not to mention i had bad attendance and was always late. i passed with a B and still remember most of it!

Took Ms Paxton for CalcIII a few years back and she was awesome! Hard yes, but that's to be expected in Calc. Can tell you from experience that you don't find many dedicated teachers like her at 4-year schools. I thought she was great back at GCC, but after finishing my B.S. and Master's, I appreciate her and my old GCC professors even more!

Will use the hardest and trickiest problems on the tests. Even if you know the material fully, you might end up getting a C on the test. I was a 4.0 student, but I am getting 80% now. Also, she is lazy, takes her about a week to grade a 8 question exam.

Algebra is really hard for alot of us. Take Carol if you want to get help in suceeding. Very DIFFICULT tests! You might feel like you understand everything when she's lecturing, but when it comes to exams....she is extremely difficult!

Her teaching is usually pretty clear but her tests are too hard and require more than extensive knowledge of the curriculum. The part of this class that bothered me the most was her acceptance of a D as a mean grade for the majority tests (3/5). Most of the grading comes from purely tests and the final which the majority don't get above a C.

Carol is a helpful instructor. If you do the homework, attend all classes, and pay attention; you could do pretty good in this class. She teaches you shortcuts to do problems and is great on partial credit. Test problems are very similar to homework problems, so do the homework!

TAKE HER IF YOU LOVE MATH!! SHE WILL MAKE YOU UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING CRYSTAL CLEAR!! Her tests are hard, she drops lowest test score, no curves. HW doesn't count for points. It's a must. You will understand math like you never have done before!!

Excellent lecturer, but exams are killer. Only those who already knew some calculus did very well. Tested not so much on what was covered, but more on applying what was covered to a slightly different sort of problem. Upside is deeper understanding. Downside is your final grade will likely not be what you wanted or are used to. No grading curve.

Explains everything crystal clear & teaches so that you understand rather than memorize. Simply amazing! Just make sure you take the time & do your part, you obviously won't do well unless you practice w/ the homework. It's pretty hard to get an A in the 119, but a B is manageable. Only 1 student in my class is currently getting an A.

I have taken her twice and SHE IS ONE OF THE BEST MATH TEACHERS AT GCC. Both times I have passed her class, MATH141-B and MATH119-A her notes and lectures are very helpful and understanding, make sure to do the hw because sometimes she gives out easy quizzes but if you don't do the hw you won't pass the quiz TAKE HER YOU WON'T REGRET IT

Ms. Paxton is so caring and is willing to help anyone who steps in her office. Her class is challenging but if you are truly dedicated to learning you should have no problem. I was dreading having math early morning, but her class was great. It was my first year back in school after 4 years off and most of the math I learned in high school was rusty at best. Calculus itself is not that hard if you have strong trig and algebra background. Passing placement test does not prove that you are 100% ready high level math. So if you plan to take calculus, be sure to skim through trig book several times before 1st day of class.

Yes, it is easy to get a B in this class. However, if you want an A, that's a different story. It requires lots of effort. Studying everyday is mandatory for pop quizes early in the morning. Also, We all know that a B in calculus will reduce the chance of getting accepted any top university such as UCLA, UCB, especially for engineering majors.

It's not happening if you don't study at all and expect a good grade, but she will definitely help you if you do. Calculus is not an easy stuff, so you need to be ready for studying hard. However, it's not impossible to get an A in her class. Studying and doing HW work only. Don't expect shortcuts and just be diligent then you will make it.

Her class requires a lot of studying. She assigns a lot of homework, because she wants her students to be comfortable with the material. If you do all of the hw assigned you will pass. She does not like people being tardy, missing class or interrupting. Math is a subject that requires lots of studying, if you can't do the work don't take the class.

I took math 101 once and failed miserably. I retook it with Paxton and I have to say she is amazing. At first I was scared because everyone said tests are different but they are actually much easier. Prof. Paxton is great. She loves math and does her best on every lectures. She does not like to answer a lot of questions. She expects you to show up on time and will humiliate you if you are tardy. Receiving an A or a B in her class is tough; you have to really be on top of your game. She is a tough grader and assigns fair amounts of homework.

She is amazing. she will explain the problems you ask and she won't give up until u understand. Lectures are clear and helpful, she shows shortcuts which are helpful. Strongly recommend to take her class if u wanaa learn something.

Extremely caring professor, i have taken her classes four times and i will continue to take the classes she teaches. I failed math 110 i took with another professor but im taking her for my second time and maintaining a 85%. Those saying shes a tough grader are those who dont show up or dont pay attention. You almost always have to work in math !!

She is one of the best math professors ever! She is super caring and she makes sure we understand everything! She gives practice tests and review sheets for the tests which help a lot since they are pretty similar to the test questions! She also goes over some homework questions before starting a new lecture I would definitely take her class again

She uses Webassign. If that's a dealbreaker, consider that. Personally it wasn't too big of a deal for me (except financially) but she was really helpful in helping me find a way to pay for the Webassign passcode. Talk to her. The more you discuss and talk with her, the more she can help you both in and out of class.

Professor Paxton was an excellent math teacher. She is extremely passionate about her subject and is equally caring. Make sure you regularly attend her office hours as she does an exceptional job at clarifying whatever you did not understand in the lecture. The class consisted of five tests and a cumulative final.

I struggled with math and I had not taken any math courses for a few years. I got a B in her class. *I exhausted the resources offered on campus, as needed. Her lectures are clear.

Very good professor, explains everything well in excellent lectures. If you study, do the work, and ask for help if you need it, you surely will pass this class. Note: Calculus is not an easy subject, requires work and dedication. Don't be discouraged by the many negative reviews.

Professor Paxton is a great professor!! I had her twice since I had failed Fall 2019 and I retook the course (Spring 2020) and I tried my best and did group studies with some students from the class. It helped me out a lot and hey at least I passed!! Great Professor you should take her as well!! Grateful that we were able to use our notes for tests

Professor Paxton is one of the hardest professors i ever had. However, she is a good professor and is always available outside class to help understand the content. She is tough grader but if you do all the hws and try hard youll be able to pass it.
