Gives papers every week, does not have clear grading criteria but is honestly a good person
In order to pass with an A or B, you really have to try on your essays. She gives out no extra credit but shes always there to help you if you need anything.
She is a hands on teacher! I took her for English writing, and got a B only because I missed few assignments. She offers help in any way she can.
Kind of a tough grader but gives a lot of great feedback.
Professor Carol Reid is amazing professor and she also provides great feedback on essays. She is very caring and respects all her students. Taking this professor's class is an easy A if you apply yourself and work hard.
She wasnt clear on much. Grades come specifically from essays. Hard to understand.
She doesn't explain, she just tells you one thing and expects you to understand it. Be ready to write a ton of papers, and be prepared to go nuts with in-text citations. MLA format is her thing, so don't screw that up or major points get taken. Hard grader. Wouldn't recommend her to someone who hasn't been in school for a while.
Dr. Reid is a fantastic teacher. I took both English Composition 1 and 2 from her, and learnt so much. Her presentations, handouts, and feedback are incredibly helpful when composing a paper. In fact, I still reference them when writing. If you love to learn and are a dedicated worker, her classes are for you.
Not terrible... But if availability allows, take another professor.
Shes very straightforward, gives good feedback. Essays are well-explained. You should do well in her class if you put in the effort. Shes nice and helpful too.
She does grade a little tough but she is open for questions at any time. She was really nice and helpful. I would recommend taking her for ENC1101.
If you can write a essay and get familiar with MLA documentation, signal phrases, in-text citations, Work cited page to improve your essay and come to class you will pass. Professor read is very understandable when lecturing, stops to answer questions and is highly motivating.
Easy A. Clear assignments with instructions just come to class and participate. Will definitely take again. Outstanding Professor.
The worst English teacher Ive ever had in my life. She is beyond rude.
Shes a tough grader, but she is always there to ask questions. Your grade depends on how you try on your essays. Its not given, if you do your best and ask questions you should pass.
I would not take her for Enc-1101 she is a really hard grader and you better know the MLA format. She is also very rude and is hard to ask question about the work. Get prepared to hear a lot of mhmmmmm
I HAD DR. REID FOR TWO SEMESTERS AND SHE IS VERY NICE AND EASY TO APPROACH BUT HER GRADING IS PRETTY STRICT. SHE USES POWERPOINT LECTURES AND GROUP ACTIVITIES, SOMETIMES VIDEOS TOO. FROM MY FIRST SEMESTER WITH HER TO MY SECOND I HAD A LOT OF GOOD IMPROVEMENT, SO I DO RECOMMEND USING HER.
Amazing teacher, i started off horribly on my essays but with her lectures and help I got better and brought my grade up on every essay. Explains everything clearly and gives good lectures. She grades every essay specifically and goes over EVERYTHING (every error) so you wont make the same mistake. I took her for two courses. Definitely recommend!
Her class is amazing! She is a great teacher and will help improve your writing!
I took this class for two semesters and I thoroughly enjoyed it! At the beginning of the semester she lays out the foundations, rules, and criteria that needs to be met in order for you to pass. She's very helpful and is willing to go over errors until you're able to understand! She offers second chances, and makes learning fun with activities!
Her class was super easy! I would take it again! You have 5 papers total and is what your grades are based off. If you follow the criteria you will pass
Worst professor Ive ever had
She made it very hard to pass the class. She was very strict from day one and made it almost impossible to pass her class.
Great teacher! She does make you work for your grade but is very caring and always happy to help at anytime.
Um, I love her. People complain, but she's so helpful. Honestly you can't just show up and get an A, you definitely have to work for it but it's definitely worth it. I can say I leave her class and feel like I got better at English. Her lectures are also not just her rambling about her life like most professors, she actually teaches.
In total there are 5 essays in the class but she is a very picky, and hard grader. She will give back feedback. She will take off points if you misspelled a word, I had problems with in-text citations and she wouldn't help me, she would only tell me to read the textbook. She does not give extra credit but she is a nice teacher.
I had Dr. Reid for 1101 and 1102, she is an amazing teacher. She may seem intimidating at first, but she is actually really sweet. She makes it clear what she wants and is straightforward. You will pass her class as long as you pay attention and ask questions if you have any. She is very willing to help. She truly wants all her students to pass.
I had her for ENC 1101 and 1102. She was very clear on her work but if you need help or have a question ask, she will be gladly to help. She gives great feedback on essays as well, which really help for future ones. Also, she makes the students work for their grade. Attendance is mandatory. She was a great instructor and 100% recommend.
I had Dr. Reid for both ENC 1101 and 1102. She is honestly one of the best English teacher there is. She is truly helpful and is always able to help you out. Every handout she gives you about the assignments is clear and efficient. An easy class honestly. She even helps you with things outside of English. I loved having her as my teacher.
Took Dr. Reid for both ENC 1101 and 1102 and after taking both of her classes, i have improved on my writing skills. Dr. Reid is eager to help you succeed in every essay and is a wonderful professor.
Reid is an amazing teacher. I took her for both 1101 and 1102. In both classes you have four essays to complete. She is a very hard grader but if you ask her questions She will tell you want she wants. She is picky on mla format. She also give you class time to write your essay which she then calls you up to help you.
graded based off essays, very very tough grader
Omg a super tough grader! I did not appreciate that, but she does give good advice when you're done turning in an essay. Just make sure you follow all the rules with the essay.
Loved this teacher! We had 4 essays, most with a minimum of 500 words and no upper limit, so I didn't have to worry about the word count. She gives a clear outline of what she expects, but she will grade you based on your ability to accomplish those things. Pay attention and work hard, and you can get an A in her class.
Dr. Carol Reid is an amazing professor! I struggled in the beginning of her course, but she is very helpful and always available to her students. She does call on everyone to participate in class, but this was actually very helpful when it comes to writing because you get so many more perspectives on the topic. She gives clear outlines for grading.
If you are reading this just take the class. Dr. Carol Reid is honestly a good professor and you can't say that much these days. Graded on four essay, she goes deep into detail on how to do each one. And she will always help even if you don't want it.
She was incredibly hard with her essays and made it very hard to pass. Her class is incredibly difficult, and honestly, she was kind of rude to me. I wouldnt recommend. I saw all the good comments and thought she would be a good teacher, but she definitely wasnt for me.
Dr. Reid genuinely wants to help and gives students every opportunity to succeed, including being available outside of class. She also walks students through every detail of how your essay will be graded before each one is turned in. If you listen, apply yourself, and ask for help, you will learn in this class and will do well. Not a free ride.
She is a good professor for communication and she does have very few assignments which can be good or bad. I did take her for both ENC1101 and ENC1102 and the only thing I did not like about the class was that she is a tough grader so my essays that used to be an A were a middle of the line B for her class.
I took the ENG1101 class and thought she was a great teatcher and will be taking her ENG1102 class too. She has a very clear grading rubric and gives you feedback on each of the essays. There was a total of 4 essays with about a month to do each. She also made it clear that if you have a question, even if its been answered before, just ask.
Tough Grader and a little rude
I took both the ENG1011 and ENG1102 and I enjoyed both of the classes. The grading can be harsh but you will get clear feedback on how to fix your mistakes for the next essay. She does care about your success and is a good professor. I would highly recommend her if you're willing to put in the work.
I took Professor Reid in the fall semester on campus. It was hard for me to write 1,000 word essays but if you ask her to help you she definitely will professor Reid is very caring and even if her class may seem difficult it's not. Just ask her for help and she will provide everything for you to pass! Great English professor!
I really enjoyed her English Comp 1 course. She is tough but not mean and she is very well-organized. You have to put effort and participation into this course but as long as you do that, you will be fine.
She is a great professor. Grading is a little tough. Work load is not heavy
I have so many good things to say about her. In high school I maintained a B average in English but Dr. Reid showed me that I had so much more potential. There is a total on about 4 essays and a vocabulary test. Dont let this scare you off she guides you throughout the essay process completely . Her lectures are fascinating and she is so helpful.
I would 100% take recommend any of Dr. Reid’s courses. I took ENC 1101 with her and I am in the process of completing 1102 as well. This is a very easy class as she states the guidelines and requirements from the very beginning. Listen to her advise and help, you will do great in this class. She is my favorite Professor.
Great professor I took her for both ENC 1 & 2 and her assignments are straight forward.
I had her for enc 1101 online and she was very straight forward with the assignments we would just do small quizzes from textbook reading which were easy and we had like 4-5 essays to do but she gives you a good amount of time to do those essays. Definitely taking her again
Dr. Reid's class is very easy if you listen to her feedback on your paper and improve on the things pointed out. In 1101 you are writing around four essays with plenty of time to put them together. Dr. Reid is extremely responsive to emails and will usually respond within the day. Ask questions when confused! She is very helpful!
Been out of school for 10 years, Dr. Reid is amazing and really cares about her students. She pushes you and only asks that you put in the work. If she does not have a higher rating, it is because the people rating her are jokes and not at college level. Expectations are clear, if you want an A, work for it. Recommend her for ENC 1 and 2!
This is an easy class as long as you follow her instructions. Her grading is straight forward and her feedback is very helpful. I had no experience of writing in MLA format and managed to get an A on every single paper because of her. Also good for introverts. Highly recommend.
She gave reasonable amount of work- 4 quizes, 4 discussions, and 4 essays. She gave good amount of time to complete each essay however she grades very strict. She lays out her expectations but then adds more while grading. She leaves somewhat helpful comments but she will find anything and everything wrong with your writing.
There are only 4 discussions, 4 essays, and 3 quizzes throughout the 6 weeks. Professor Reid gives feedback every time on your essays to help you improve. Put in the effort and you will get a good grade. Would take another class from her in the future.
It's pretty hard to get a full 100 on an assignment graded by her, not even discussion posts. She does set up every module very clearly and easy to understand which is good, and she gives a lot of time to submit essays. As long as you put in effort and follow directions you should be good.
She was very tough on the grading when it came to the essays and even the discussion post. But she always gave enough time to finish the assignments along with explaining throughly what she wants.
Professor Reid is definitely a tough grader but trust me it is worth it. I was never great at writing essays so I chose Dr. Reid to improve my writing abilities. She gives great feedback and responds to emails and questions quickly. She also, unlike other professors, is very understanding to any outside/personal circumstances for extensions.
Dr. Reid was very clear with her instructions and grading criteria. She explained exactly what she expected from us and was always clear with her assignments. I would recommend her and I would take one of her classes again. Attending class is very helpful for completing assignments.
Love this professor! Professor Reid is definitely a tough grader but one thing is that once you take her class you will learn how to write a good paper. There is 4 papers for this course there is no final and there is a few other assignments overall I learned so much in this class I would highly recommend her.
I took Dr. Reid's English 1 and 2, passed both with A+, and they were the easiest English classes to take. In each of the classes there is not final exam, you only have 4 essays for the entire semester, and you have more than a month to complete each essay. She provides clear instructions to grade her papers, this class was an easy A.
I took English 1 and 2 with Dr. Reid and I would definitely take it again. She gives clearly instructions and will explain any misunderstandings. Additionally, she is a tough grader, but she will explain the mistakes and provide you with specific feedback. Amazing teacher!
One of the worst teachers I've had! In her emails she can be very ignorant and condescending. Her lack of compassion and empathy is atrocious. She has a drill sergeant attitude. Grading she is extremely tough.Multiple points taken off if you misspell a word, but will send critiques to students with incorrect sentence structure, and misspelled words.
I took her late start class. 4 quizzes, 4 discussion posts, and 4 essays. Explains her instructions through powerpoint. I didnot understand how to use/cite MLA and still got a B (80/100) on my essays. She does notice minor errors on discussion posts and essays. She gives a link to the textbook u can use and bases her quizzes off the TB.
Great teacher, just your basic english class. Enough papers to know what you're learning but not too many at all. She grades the papers heavy and you get good feedback! Understanding and easy to communicate with.
Dr. Reid is very straight forward and grades very harshly. I would not take again.
Professor Reid is the best English teacher I have gotten other than my 9th grade teacher. Her feedback is very helpful if you read and review them. Her class is very simple and she gives you enough time to read and then write an essay.
this teacher is the worst teacher I have ever had. No matter how clear you follow her rubric, she will always look for ways to give you a worse grade than you deserve. She graded so harshly. On essays, the average grades would be 40%.save yourself the trouble and find a professor that has compassion and genuinely wants to see students strive.
She was a great professor I took her for 1101 and 1102. I was always kind of bad and writing but I finished both classes with a B she gives every assignment on how to do in her rubric.
If you pay attention to the class and lecture and turn all the discussion boards, test, and essays on time the class will be a breeze.
She gives very detailed essay feedback through turnitin, the homework is light as long as you're keeping up with the reading; mostly discussions. She cares and will prob throw you a bone on a due date (not that you'd likely ever need it) if it's clear you're making an effort. Essays require a 2/3 done draft submitted a week before the due date.
Provides a handout which details what should be incorporated into each of our essay. She also provided clear feed back on what mistakes may have been made in your essay. Homework are mostly discussions and quizzes, but they are very easy. It being an English class, how well you do depends on you or course, but she is a good professor!
Gives great feedback on every assignment and has a very clear grading rubric for every assignment. Lots of papers but that's to be expected in an online English class. A bit tough on grading but as long as rubric is followed correctly you will get a good grade. Sends out reminders about upcoming assignments due. Easy to pass as long as you try
Dr. Reid is by far one on the best English classes you could register for. If you are a half ass kind of person don't waste her time. Anyone who says she is a bad professor clearly wants things given to them. Dr.Reid practically tells you what to do step by step and if you can't do that then ok dummy. If you want an easy grade take her!
Dr. Reid is genuinely such a great professor. Her instructions are very clear and extremely specific so it is easier to understand what the expectations are. Yes she is a bit of a tough grader, but she gives detailed feedback on how to improve for your next essay. I've taken her for English 1 and 2, and I recommend her to everybody I know.
Professor Reid provides plenty of resources and advice for those taking this course. She pushes you to do better, which may be off-putting to some students, but will help you to succeed. She grades fairly but be prepared to put in effort. For the final, she has students write a paper instead of taking a test. She gives about two weeks per paper.
Professor Reid is very helpful with feedback on essays. The assignments are straightforward and easy to complete. She gives plenty of time to complete one essay at a time, she won't assign more assignments on top of the essay other than a discussion and a brief quiz. She also gives reminders about every assignment that is due. No final exam!
Ms. Reid is a good English teacher, especially for an online class. She explains assignments clearly and incorporates discussions and quizzes that help boost your grade. However, she's a tough grader, so you'll need to put in effort to succeed. There are no final exams, just essays, which she provides helpful feedback on.
For my first ever college course Dr.Reid was a good professor overall. I took the course online, full 16 weeks. I will say it is essay, after essay, after essay. But its just a quiz and a discussion post and a essay usually every 2 weeks, but there was once or twice she gave a break with the essays. She gives good feedback and responds fast.
just started class and I asked her when she was opening the next module she basically told me i could drop class if i wasnt happy with her timing. Then when i inquired about some of the reading that i didnt understand she just dismissed me that it wasnt necessary. Im here to learn i just wanted some insight!
actually so bad, if you're reading this DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!! provides horrible feedback and papers are heavily graded and points are taken off liberally!
She's one of the best English teachers because she gives you good feedback in your paper's and gives you a lot of time to get your essay done before the deadline.
The toughest grader I've ever had. I've always been good at English, and I STRUGGLED to remain above a B. Every essay I got no higher than a low 80%, even when getting tutoring to improve my essays. She is also condescending when annotating essays and unhelpful. Overall a horrible teacher.
Does not cooperate with students at all. If you have questions or are falling behind good luck. She will give you nothing answers. Asked for clarification on instructions and she sent me the same instructions again. Graded papers by saying "This is incorrect"/"This is wrong formatting" but would not give specifics and just referred to textbook.
She is textbook heavy which is something that didn't really work for me in an english class. Her feedback wasn't fully clear with what was wrong with my projects. She could have been a bit more specific and helpful. Text book was also too filler heavy for me to grasp the concept. Not a terrible teacher, just not for me.
She is the best professor that I ever had. She's nice, caring, and she is here to help you if you need help.
Dr. Carol Reid was a very helpful and caring professor. Yes her class is difficult sometimes, but I feel like I grew so much in my writing because of her class. I came in having a “this is going to be hard” mentality but overall it was worth it. Thanks to Dr. Carol Reid, I am a better writer than how I was before.
I took both Dr. Carol Reid's hybrid ENC 1101 and 1102 class. The work can catch up to you sometimes, especially if you're a big procrastinator like me, but I actually found the amount of assignments we received light. She offers a lot of great advice and often clears up any confusion about assignments in class. I would definitely recommend her.
