She doesnt know how to teach! she just read the powerpoint and the quizzes and test are difficult to get it. DONT TAKE HER CLASS! SHE NOT EASY TO PASS! SHE GRADE JUST BY QUIZ AND TEST
It's like a refresher class. Everything she tries to teach you is grade school level things. She tries to be funny and to be your friend. Does not give extra credit even though it's needed. I do NOT reommend her unless you want to fall asleep. Plus, lots of annoying group work.
she is good and her exam is easy if you study the text book
excellent teacher and was very patient.
Extremely easy prof.Got an A in the class. All you have to do is read her power points, give 5 summaries of news paper article about half pg, and present a group project in the end of the semester.I didn't even bought the book and still got an A in her class. And her exams are easy also. But I have to say, that the class is boring.
she is great. i like her and she's funny
Had her semesters ago. She's got a good sense of humor, explains things clearly. her test weren't bad just a lot to remember. Overall she's a good professor.
TAKE HER! One of the best lab professors at york, you WILL get the full credit. Not to mention that she's hilarious and witty. DON'T THINK, JUST TAKE HER!
I took Bio 201 during summer and it was hell with amount of material to remember. The Prof. is nice and funny, she kept you awake for 3h. I'm very disappointment with my grade(C ,my 1st C ever from the lecture). I think I deserve it B-. I'm just wondering how many people fail If with my scores she gave me C.
I took her in the summer, i thought she was awesome throughout the course but the end results sucked. i got a B-, even though my grades were pretty good throughout the semester. she helps out alot though, but the final exam you're pretty much on your own and that can make your final grade go from an A to a B-
Don't buy the textbook! You won't use it...all the information is given in class and you could print out that info from blackboard...the class is very easy along with all the assignments. She is very nice and not a tough grader.
she is helpful.straight forward no tricky questions on the exams and its a great professor to have if you have no prior knowledge of biology. keep it up!
take her. her lecture isn't too boring because she tries to keep students interested with her kinda funny jokes. just study her slides especially the last slide on every power point. use the text book for anything you don't understand. she is kinda helpful when it comes to her tests
Definetely recommend her.She one of the best bio professor even tho she a little boring during lecture
Great Professor , holds you interest in long lectures, knows what she is talking about. During the lectures she can relate the material to life situations and she is very funny too . Take her you will not regret it
She makes class fun! Understands how to teach and knows how to do it well! I recommend her! Remember: She loves graphs! :)
The only reason why she appears to be an easy professor is because students have her previous exams otherwise her exams are pretty tricky especially her multiple choice.
Boring Lectures, She Just Reads Most of the slides in order to teach and exams have nothing to do with her review sheet. Study everything on the review sheet only to find out her multiple choice questions were based from google than her powerpoints GOOD LUCK
Took her and was surprised at most of the trolls on this website. Sure she's crystal clear on the material but laughing at your own jokes is kinda sad. Took a test, and she said study the review sheet. NOTHING WAS FROM THE REVIEW SHEET. She also takes points off if in the writing section for not matching what she thinks the answer is. NO PARTIAL CR
Take her if you want someone to lecture you, without boring you, without an accent, etc. However her exams are impossible. Other professors are horrible at lecturing but at least their exams were easier. Be warned!
Good professor for lecture. Bad professor for Lab. Took her for both and one thing I don't like is that on written questions for lab or a lecture exam, you will NEVER get a 10 (max 9) on a lab or all 4 points on a short answer for a lecture exam (max 3.5) and yes it's a big deal becuase you can go from an A- to a B+ OR A to an A- because of her
She is good at teaching, gives life examples in class, and has a few bad jokes. However, she wasnt always available outside of class, never gave a review sheet, and her exams were kind of hard. Especially the multiple choice, and she does not curve. Those people who find her easy were mostly cheaters. She gave me a B- and I think I deserved more.
She is very good at what she does. Great lecturer, tough exam maker. True-she doesn't give any review. Just pay attention to what she says b4 an exam. She gives hints.
i wish i had taken her for my other bio classes. she's the best. i didn't even buy the test book.
Dr. Whyzmuzis has such a great sense of humor. She knows how to make such a boring subject fun with her sort of funny jokes. She is very clear with her grading criteria. I am so glad i had her and can't wait to take her for 202!!
She tries her best.. shes a good professor but i wouldn't recommend her for an easy A. But if you really want to learn, take her.
Dr. Whyzmuzis is a very down to earth professor. She's very knowledgeable and her lab lectures are very detailed. Just like any course, what you put into it, you'll reap the rewards.
I think Prof. Whyzmuzis is a beautiful person inside and out. I usually rate the professor after I received my grade, but this one is an exception. She is extremely helpful & make the horrible BIO 202 class fun and interesting. I would absolutely recommend her. Love her!!!!!!!
Dr. Whyzmuzis was an amazing lab professor. Although the quizzes each week were somewhat difficult, every week she would give us a mini lecture before and after class stating the important things we need to know. The formal lab reports are easy to do but beware of the final. It is a compilation of all the hard quizzes.
Dr. Whyzmuzis was a good professor. The topics she had to teach were very hard but the semester, in my opinion, got easier as time went by. The final examination was extremely hard. Study the end of section and chapter questions because that is where she gets some of her test and quiz questions. If I studied more I could have gotten a higher grade.
Her exams are very very lengthy. Theres 2 s/a and 5 multiple choice which doesnt sound like that much BUT every question had like four subparts. And you have to finish the quiz in 15 mins. She doesn't give partial credit and doesn't curve. So good luck guys
Not a good professor :/ even if you are a good student you'll not get an A for her class.
She is very rigid when it comes to grading the exams. On the exams, she purposely includes very tricky questions that the entire class will get wrong. If you want to save your gpa, just stay away. Avoid her at all costs.
Makes the worst jokes ever and then has a laugh that sounds like she's choking! Tough grader on tests and boring lectures
Her tests are true to her review sheets but require a lot of memorization of useless information. She will give a test with 10 multiple choice and the rest of the 3 or 4 pages of the test will be short answer. The multiple choice will only count for 1 point and she only gives 10!!! So dont think to rely on the multiple choice to attempt to pass.
this professor is ridiculous, study all you want and I promise you will not get the grade you thought you would get. Laughs when she gives students back a failing test grade. She really isn't here for your best interest, just laughs at her dumb jokes and doesn't understand that student have GPAs to worry about. STAY AWAY!!!!1
She is funny and corny, but her class is really difficult. You want a good grade to try you best it's really hard. You can ask her questions, she is nice and a tough grader.
It really hard questions on the test, she is a really difficult professor. She is nice and all but she is mean when it comes to test.
She's a nice lady but bio 201 itself is a boring subject. She tries to be funny and laughs at her own jokes when no one else laughs. Her exams are pretty tough. DO NOT rely on the study guide. Memorize her slides from lecture. What sucks is her exams are 10 mc and 4 short answer. So most of the stuff you study won't show up on her exams.
Tbh shes not even that horrible. Shes ok. Yeah shes tough but shes the best bio prof for 202 in york. The other 2 are worse lol
Exams are tough because of the tricky questions and barely enough time to finish. She's a nice person but becomes mean when it comes to exams. However, she is better than the other bio 202 profs
This review is for city Tech - she goes off tangent ALOT. her review sheets are very helpful for the exams. Some questions can be tricky, but she generally tries to be straight forward. Study her slides and read the book and you should be fine. Good luck!
Dr Whyzmuzis is a good professor, maybe the subject is heavy, but i feel like she did a good job in teaching bio 201, she gives review sheet, and to me they are helpful, do not focuss only on the review sheet, but it can help you. Anyway it is not an easy class, it requires a lot of effort, but i would take her again, to me she is a good one
She is a nice professor who gives long lectures. However, do not rely on the study guides she gives! The guides do not cover everything that will be on the exam. Review the powerpoint slides from class and read your BIO textbook, so you can be better prepared for her exams. If you want an A in this class, you will really have to work for it.
Her exams are so weird always different, and she laughs in your face.
Laughs to much and makes fun of student.
To be very honest the entire biology department at York is terrible. She just happens to be the lesser of all evils, she's still terrible. The tests are ridiculous and tricky. You could study your whole life and still get a D on a test. It's absurd.
Very very hard. Take anyone else but her. She will not go easy. She does care who you are. Other professors would help you out. She will say "why'd you fail, the exam was easy". Then she would laugh in your face. Disrespectful and very very rude. She is always repeating herself and making class "fun". You will be able to get more info from yourself
She grades very hard. She doesn't help even if you need. Once I asked her for help she told me NO come another time. She laughs for the stupidest jokes/ DO NOT TAKE HER as HARD AS YOU TRY you are still failing.
Be sure to take all the exams and quizzes, read textbook question bank, and understand the concepts given like the Krebs cycle and how to calculate pH. The class is easy but you have to keep up with it and go to class.
DO WHATEVER YOU CAN TO AVOID HER. Do not take this professor!!! She is awful, does not care about her students, no concern for anyone or anything in class. Makes a lot of bad jokes. When the class test average is 45, she's happy and says it's better than what she expected. Her short answers on the tests are pretty much essay questions. Annoying!
Your better off being taught by a goldfish. Literally just reads off of the lecture slides. If you read the textbook I guarantee you'll get a good grade, make sure to do the homework and ace the tests. The textbook is the key!
STAY AWAY from her class. The tests are impossible to pass. She gives study guides but don't even bother looking at them. She goes over 3 chapters at a time and each chapter has over 100 slides and she expects you to know everything by heart. She makes you buy books that you won't even use. Long story short DON'T TAKE HER.
She is a really nice person. Reads off her power points but she gives review sheets to help pass the exams. I would def take her again. Not bad at all!!!
Had her for bio 201 and 202. She's a decent professor and I think she's a better choice than the others. I think its the course material that makes the class hard and not the professor because both classes are pretty boring. Read the slides and study them especially for bio 202.
Always talks about nonsense has very corny jokes always distracts herself from the lesson teaches the lesson very fast doesnt take her time the only way of passing is the homework and the labs always print out her slides !!!!!!! she is a boring professor DONT TAKE HER CLASS
Okay, so I previously took her class for Bio 201 and was able to pass with a B by studying my butt off. I thought I could do the same for BIO 202 but her tests are honestly ridiculous. Her exams are so difficult and her lectures are always off topic. Her multiple choice questions are always phrased in cryptic and unecessary ways.
Her lectures are off power point and her test and hard . 20 multiple choice and the rest short answers . Labs are given out every week and if youre absent for one you cant make it up .
WORST CLASS I EVERY TOOK IN MY LIFE. IT IS SO BAD , IF YOU LOVE YOUR EDUCATIONS AND GPA DO NOT TAKE HER. She talks so much, doesn't really explain the powerpoints, she gives a review sheet and best believe when your get to the exam at times the questions are different and it is not what you studied for.
Bio202 is not an easy subject. However, she's very reasonable especially if you miss a class or can't take an exam, give her notice. Make sure to read a lot, study, and you'll be fine. Exam 2 and quiz #2 are the hardest. But it's not impossible, these are advance classes and she doesn't recycle her exams. So work hard people.
Her exams are very difficult. She gives a review sheet but when it comes to the exam it has NOTHING to do with what the review sheet says. Now i have to retake BIO201 because of her exams. dont take her
The day you walk into class, she passes out a straight forward syllabus with due dates for every single hw & dates of exams. If you're new to college or just undisciplined, don't take this class. Show up to class and READ there. Go home and READ more. Don't stop studying & use the pearson study resources. No one's gonna hold your hand though this.
This class was hard. Even if you study, your chance of passing is slim to none. Unless you have the pass exams because she repeats some of the questions. She focused too much on the names of the species. Diagrams and figures from the textbook, that you think would not be on the exam, is what is on the exams. Such a hard class.
Labs are pretty simple and straightforward but tests are tough and a hill to climb. If you're not good at studying, avoid this class. Highly recommend taking someone else as her class is also lecture heavy and contributes little to exam questions.
Shes a good professor, but lectures arent really helpful. The only real reason I say its mandatory to go to class is because she does give hints about the next up coming exams. So her exams are pretty difficult. You HAVE TO READ THE TEXT BOOK. Lecture and the PowerPoint slides arent enough but the textbook is necessary.
I took bio 201L with her this summer. As everyone knows summer semester is extra hard because have a short amount of time, but if you work hard you will make it. Don't miss any class or you will miss the clues for test plus you will miss everything there is to learn. Bio 201 is mostly cramming, so get ready!
Don't trust her personaility from day one, she's very annoying with her constant jokes, and ramblings that have no correlation to the lesson presented. Her test and quizzes have little to no information that is presented from the slides. Honestly lucky the semester was online since her test and quizzes where all on quizlit
Carol is the definition of professors that make tests too hard. I flunked the first exam because I was blindsided by how ridiculous her test questions are. I studied hard and still had a bad time. The lectures are not enough, you need to marry the textbook if you want a chance. I did well but I lost a piece of my sanity in the process. Beware.
This professor is great. But one thing, she does go off topic a lot, and likes to speak about insects in her home. It makes the class funny but it does take the students time to get back into the original topic. She gave about 4 tests total and they were difficult. Her grading is completely fair. If you don't read you wont pass at all.
So, I took this prof. during the COVID-19 summer 7wk online course and I was not disappointed at all. Had 5 quizzes, a term paper, and a final. I would recommend to study moreso for the final and you'll be fine. God bless / good luck!
She gives a lot of written exam with only 1 hour so you never get to pass because the time always runs out and my Gpa is above average but she might take it down.
Take her class. All her exams are online on quizlet or chegg. And the textbook also helps out with her exams. Only issue with her class was that the exam is intense. You have limited time. It'll be like, 50 question with 11 short answers and each short answer has different parts to it so it's a lot to answer quickly. Overall, she was alright.
All lies her answers is not online because she fails anyone who doesn't give the answer from the text book or her slide. Mostly written test with 1 hour and 15 mins.
She gives alot of written questions for the test with only 1 hour and 15 mins. I never get to finish, and she fails you if you copy answers from the internet you have to give answer from the text book or slides. She doesn't give makeup and no extra credit work.
Whyzmuzis is good and her test are very limited but this is Biology, it will be hard. She provides a study guide which sometimes appear on the exam. Studying and using the textbook will help you in this class.
Stay away, no makeup extra credit no time to finish the exams.
She makes her exams in way that it's impossible to pass. She will give 3 exams (I failed all 3 and more than half of my classmates failed too).
Lectures were boring... Presentations sometimes were over 100 slides which meant she almost never gave time to copy notes. Goes off topic a lot. Tests were difficult. Most of the students complained about failing her tests. Her lab was much easier compared to the lecture. My advice is if you fail her 3 tests you might as well withdraw the class.
I personally don't believe she's that bad of a professor but I feel like it's mainly the class itself. So much info to memorize and more than half of it isn't even on the exam. the exams are made to fail (3 exams + final with 15 multiple choice questions worth 1 point and 6+ short answer questions worth 10 points). try taking another prof. instead
Bio isnt easy but she breaks it down very well and is very accomidating Def take her
She helps so much with labs by giving little hints and explaining everything TAKE HER!! It'll help so much
Use her reviews sheets!! Best bio201 professor at york
She's a great professor, gave guidelines for her exams, if you study her guidelines you will pass the test. Subject itself is not easy so I strongly recommend that students really have to study in order to pass.
To be honest, she's nice but don't take her. The study guides are appropriate for what's on the test, but not fully. In general you'd never know what to expect on that test. Had her for lecture. Horrible experience, especially being a night class.
she basically told us wha questions will be on the short answer part of the tests. All the short answer questions from the tests were on the study guide. With this class you don't really pay attention its all about how much of the PowerPoints you can remember. Bio is a hard class in general and you really need to spend hours studying the material.
I took her for lab & lecture. She doesn't teach much but give you hints for whats gonna be on the exam. Shes also very nice & approachable & understanding. Her lab classes were very chill compared to other bio professors. She gives you a lot of time to finish labs. Overall I would recommend her!
Not an online class but it may as well have been; She always held her lessons online despite the course being in person. She makes a lot of jokes to lighten the mood in the class but you don't really learn anything otherwise. Her slideshows were painstakingly long and contained a lot of info that you'll never see on her exams.
She's very nice and tries to make lectures light & crack jokes & hints at which slides to study for exams. You'll have to teach yourself the info ngl, but if you read the textbook chapters (most of which are short) & study, an A is doable. Also, not a harsh grader at all & sometimes gives extra credit. If ur good with self-teaching class is easy.
The Professor is really nice! Had her for lecture and lab. The class is very difficult, lots of work, you are going to have to teach yourself off the PowerPoints, but if you simplify the material you will pass. She gives extra credit on exams. Make sure to do good in labs and complete the H/W assignments and you'll be Ok.
I had her for a lecture, and I found the class to be both boring and difficult. She mainly uses the smart board to display each chapter, reading aloud from it, which can be as long as 200 pages. Although she tries to make jokes to lighten the mood, you should be prepared to teach yourself the material. The tests are quite challenging.
This professor was really kind to everyone. As long as you do the labs, you are bound to get a 90 and above. However, I will say the lab instructions were sometimes very confusing, but she will help you out. I will say that she probably isn't the best at explaining the biology content, as she just reads from slides, but you dont need it really.
