I had Mrs.Williams fall 2010 for Business Calc and absolutely loved her. She's a great teacher who knows what she's talking about. She will help you if you're in need and gives out extra credit. She is loud and clear. There are in class quizzes and online homework. It's hard to catch up if you miss class because the material is new every time.
I was not pleased with how she taught our class, she yelled at us all the time, and gave us a lot of busy work, worksheets, book work, online homework, and quizzes. She would sit there and complain about every little thing and it made me not want to attend class.
Elementary Geography is so hard. Carol does not explain things very well and the work is hard to do. She is willing to help you by giving extra credit.
Mrs. Williams is such a nice lady! She does alot to help out your grade in the end, however she doesn't always teach the math and you have to teach yourself. This class is alot of work and hard!
Carol was very unprofessional and rude, especially through her emails. Carol answered questions in a very confusing way or just didn't answer them at all. I wasn't impressed with her teaching and thought she did a very poor job.
I take Elementary Geometry w Carol Williams. Worst class I have every taken. She claims to be the best Tech has to offer. However; she is the worst Tech can offer. She posts videos online for our lessons (they are very poor quality & hard to follow), & doesn't actually teach in class. Her explanations are confusing. She doesn't teach us anything.
Carol isn't that bad. She tries to be helpful and wants her students to do well. She will extend homework if you are behind and explain stuff in class until you get it. She can be rude when it comes to online classes, but in person she is completely different. If you put in a little effort you will be fine.
I have liked every single class I have taken at Tech except this one. She does not teach in class at all, just through videos so its basically like an online class. Which is not good for me, which is why i opted for the live class! She yells the entire class and treats us as if we were her life counselor. Not very helpful when you don't understand
Worst class i have taken at tech. She gives no help or clarity, gives assignments that doesn't make any sense from her long, dragging out lecture videos. She gives tons of assignments and homework. She expects 100 terms memorized for the final as well as all the material we covered in the semester.
I've had Carol for 4 math classes in 2 years. As long as you are nice and ask for help, she is willing to give it. I've made 3 As and 1 B in the classes with her. Do the work, show up to class, and she will help you out in the long haul.
She spent more time complaining about her husband than actually teaching us math. She was not clear in explaining anything and moved very fast through material. When you try to answer a question she is rude to you whether your right or wrong. It was very hard to learn in this class.
Where to begin... She is a nice person and cares about the students who show interest in her class. However, as a professor she is unprofessional and is not very clear. You might as well take the class online because all of the lectures are long videos you have 2 watch be4. She used more time talking about her personal life than she did teaching.
If you want to teach yourself, have a late to class professor, and listen to Williams complain about her headaches or food then this is the class for you, good luck! Williams is very unprofessional and rude. If you're a middle school teacher or math specialist, have no fear, she will favor you! Tech needs to take a look into this instructor.
She genuinely cares about her students, but she can come off abrasive to some. I love professor Williams! She goes above and beyond to help even if it's with more than school. Honestly if you find a way to fail this class it is your own fault. Not for everyone but I enjoy her. Quizzes and group work most days after lecture. Lots of extra credit
She cares about her students and how you do not just in the class, but in the real world. She understands the struggles you may come across with school or other life problem and will work with you!
Amazing teacher, I will not lie, I was a litttle hessitant at first but as you get to know her throughout the semester you'll see that she is very cool and linient. Homework should be an easy A. Tests are easy. Notes are shared via Dropbox almost every weekend. She gives a lot of opportunities for extra points on tests and homework.
I took the class online which I usually do better in a face to face lecture, so I should have done that. Williams took many times out of her busy schedule to meet with me and help me when I was not only having questions about the material, but just wanted to talk. She cares about all of her students and it is evident in the way that she treats us
Pretty run-of-the-mill math teacher. The class itself was fairly easy. If you take the online course, you only have to show up for the tests. The online homework lets you attempt each problem many times, and some even include videos to walk you through. Just look over your homework and know what you're doing before tests, and you'll be fine.
I don't understand why people gave her low ratings. If you submit questions on blackboard, go to her office hours, read her notes, YOU WILL GET A GOOD GRADE. Her notes give a step by step on how to wander her hw problems. She gives goof feedback and show's that she really cares about her students. I highly recommend her online class.
I took her online MATH 1330. She's amazing and uploads her own notes for each math problem that are on the homework. She has a discussion board for any HW questions/problems you'd have and she replies promptly and is very helpful. Quizzes were online too and there was one every week. Exams are easier than the HW and like the review she gives out.
This professor doesn't explain the material very well. She just expects you to know the material. You better be prepared to teach yourself. The professor also believes her busy life is more important than your grade. So she will do thinks when it best suits her not vice versa.
You have to be prepared to teach yourself because she expects you to learn the information while she complains about her busy life. The online homework is easy any paper hmwk she doesn't grade so you don't get it back. The test are worth a lot so you can have an A on hmwk and fail if you get below 65 on test. She also can't be reached outside class
I had this class online and totally regret it. Any time I emailed her she pretty much told me it wasn't her problem. Very rude. The final is worth 30% of your total grade so good luck. The other two exams make up 40% so the homework and quizzes (there are a ton) are hardly worth anything.
honestly, dont ask for help unless you want to be yelled at or talked to like a baby.
she post all of her notes which is great but she yells constantly and is very unprofessional. Definitely would be extremely difficult to get an A in her class. go ahead and take the class online if you can because its not worth taking in person. she is a very tough and picky grader. she also gets off topic very easily.
Carol Williams is extremely rude. She mocks her students in her lecture videos, she does not give clear answers when asking questions about the homework, and she obviously hates being a teacher. She accused me of cheating for no good reason in the first week of school! I cannot believe that she is even allowed to be a professor.
Amazing professor. Comes off challenging and mean in the beginning but she mellows out after the first few weeks and is very accessible and encourages you to come to her office and ask for help. Very clear on what to expect on the tests. You basically have a couple online assignments every week and 4 tests throughout the semester. TAKE THE CLASS!!!
She says the class is not designed where you have to teach yourself but that is not true. Her exams are not too challenging but the home-works can be hard when you have to teach yourself. She gives a two questioned quiz every Friday that can be challenging if you didn't know how to do some stuff. I got a B solely because of the homeworks and quizze
If you have to take this class do not chose her as your professor.
Carol brings alot of her personal life into the classroom, making her often very aggresive. Having technological issues? GOODLUCK charlie. She will mark your answers wrong even if they are correct. She is not afraid to call you out in class like you are in the fifth grade. Furthermore DO NOT take ANY of her classes if you have the choice.
Carol always has a negative attitude and tends to take it out on her students. She is very demaning towards her students AND colleagues. Would rather have any other professor. it is her way or the high way.
One of the most uncaring professors I have ever had. She will never let you off the hook no matter what happened. She gives tons of homeowork and very hard tests. Her weighted grading in 80% all exams and finals.
Horrible professor, insane amount of homework and its worth VERY little of your grade. Also uses proctorio for exams so if you like your privacy do NOT take this professor.
The worst. Difficult weekly assignments with insane amounts of questions. I was reported for cheating on the first exam when I was not cheating and was sent to academic conduct.
The worst & most unprofessional math professor Ive ever had. She did the absolute bare minimum for distance learning. She gives insane amount of questions on homeworks (up to 80). Her lecture videos are pointless to watch, that being said I would like to thank the Organic Chemistry Tutor & NancyPi on YouTube for actually teaching me calculus.
The worst professor, Carol doesn't care about the students, she always complains about all the work she has to do. She did not help at all and when you asked her for help, all she did was complain about her "migraines". DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS UNLESS YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING or you will get a C. Lots of hw... Save yourself... don't do it
One of the best professors Ive ever had during my entire schooling experience. She bent over backwards for me and I spent hours with her in her office hours during the week to ensure an A. I went from getting a 60 on my final exam last year in Math to a 98 on my final in this class. LOVE this professor. Total star.
She graded homework by completion so most were easy 100s, as far as quizzes they were much easier then the provided material on homework. The professor herself, she did help me when i had computer problems (although she was rude) so i was able to work with her in turning in my work. But in online, you have to teach yourself the material. Good luck.
If you ever want to ruin your life completely then pick Carol Williams. She wants you to fail, she doesn't help at all, and purposely gets on to students for no reason because she finds enjoyment in ruining our education. NEVER EVER EVER take this class. WORST DECISION OF MY LIFE. WORST PROF AT TTU PERIOD.
Worst professor I've ever had. She is rude to students, unaccommodating, and inconsiderate. Lots of assignments and quizzes as well. Do yourself a favor and choose another professor.
The class itself is not hard, however Professor Williams is very rude and unprofessional. This is an online class that meets twice a week, she's always going off on students every class so far! She spends more times yelling than actually teaching! I would not recommend her and definatly will not take her next semester for MATH 1332
Mrs. Williams is not helpful when it comes to actually teaching her class. I would not recommend taking her class unless you are strong when it comes to being math minded. Myself being not being strong when it comes to math. She didn't really answer my questions, and usually she would always answer with attitude. SHES RUDE TO HER STUDENTS.
Biggest waste of time. This class will make you feel like you're back in highschool. If prof williams decides she's mad that day, she'll rant to the whole class and insult whoever stands in her path. The homework is literally only there to waste your time, and she purposely assigns double or triple what I feel it should be.
If your only option is to take Carol Williams take the class another semester. I have never met a more unpleasant human being in my entire life. She is nasty, spends most of the class yelling for absolutely no reason, and makes it seem like her objective is to fail you. Being in her class has honestly made me lose hope for humanity.
Carol was one of the hardest math teachers I have ever had. Every week there is homework due on tuesday and a quiz on wednesday. She doesn't answer questions when you give them during class and comes off very rude. Don't buy the book if you have her, she uses her own formulas. If you do not do well on the exams you will not pass.
She is by far one of the hardest teachers I have ever had. I say this because if you don't understand what going on in the class and you ask you help she will either tell you to figure it out or won't answer at all. Also, don't bother doing the reviews because they are nothing like the tests.
THE ABSOLUTE WORSE PROFESSOR AT TEXAS TECH. DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE TO TAKE HER, YOU WILL FAIL. GIVES HOMEWORKS TWICE A WEEK WITH OVER 30 QUESTIONS PER HOMEWORK AND THAT IS NOT THE WORST PART. WHENEVER TESTS COME SHE GIVES YOU A REVIEW WITH OVER 70 PROBLEMS, AND ON THE TESTS HALF OF IT WAS NOT ON IT. DO NOT PICK THIS CLASS EVEN IF ITS THE ONLY AVAI
Dont take this class. If you like being talked down to because you asked a question then this is the instructor for you. This teacher gets upset for having to explain the simplest of problems. You can tell she has become a lazy teacher and somehow she is the department head for 1331 classes. She also requires 150+ problems per week for homework.
Looking to feel like you're back in high school? Look no further! Prof Williams will make you feel just that! After she screams at the class, belittles you, and rambles off-topic about her personal life for half the lecture, she will assign more math work than Pythagoras could handle. All with a malevolent smile. Seriously, DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE.
Carol spends more time sipping on her route 44 soda and complaining about her headaches the she does teaching, homework are terribly hard and have nothing to do with what is taught in class. Reviews are nothing like the tests and don't even try asking her questions about homework unless you enjoy being yelled at, id rather a drill sergeant teach me
Worst teacher ive ever had doesnt teach just screams at you
Worst teacher Ive ever had. Never teaches just screams at you and talks about her migraines. I ended up having to teach myself the entire class. She only reads off PowerPoints and copy it to our notes, homework has nothing to do with what she teaches either. Overall DONT CHOOSE THIS TEACHER. Also very hard grader. 0/10.
Williams has a lot of bad reviews but I promised you that if you are willing to put in the work, she is willing to help you out. Showing up to class and attending office hours are essential if Math does not come strong to you. Yes, the lecture slides don't offer much help, but Prof. Williams is more than happy to help IF you reach out and ask.
She was definitely intimidating, but she was a great professor. Attendance is extremely important, and it is hard to pass without actually going to her lectures. She was always willing to help and gave good explanations when I was confused. She taught the material in a way that was easy to understand.
Do not believe most of the reviews. Most people leaving the reviews don't show up to class, don't use the website and don't pay attention. Every single question on the homework are answered on the discussion board if you ask. On the tests you will have seen each question 2-3 times either during class, homework, or reviews. Also lots of extra credit
She does not teach and yelled at me when I asked her to go to the previous slide (slides are also hard to follow and messy with incorrect equations). She often put questions in the assignments she could not answer herself. She complained that we talked too much and then complained we were too quiet (inconsistent and confusing).
She is probably one of the most disrespectful and lazy teachers you probably get at Texas Tech. She is constantly yelling at the class for no reason and often sidetrack from the lecture because she had no idea how to do a problem. She looks down at the students like we are dumb making a negative learning environment. Would not take class again!!!!!
Take someone else. She just yells at the class. Barely does the bare minimum. She will show you one example problem and that is it.
If I didn't already know most of the material that was covered in this course, I would have not succeeded in this class. She teaches the most simple concepts in the most confusing way. Very loud almost to the point it seems unprofessional.
If you have like a degradation kink, I would strongly recommend Carol. Otherwise, go with someone else!
The worst teacher I have ever had. Like literally the worst. All she did was yell and show off that she was in charge, and didn't even teach the material.
This professor was the worst professor I have had at my time at Texas Tech. Going to class was almost pointless (attendance was a grade) because she lectured for 5 minutes and explained concepts in the most confusing ways, then made her "LA's" teach us the rest of the material. She is lazy, unprofessional, and just awful. DO NOT TAKE MATH WITH HER!
The negative reviews of this professor upset me. She truly cares for the students that put forth an effort. Math does not come very easy to me, but I visited her office with HW help, attended every class, took all the quizzes, and the tests did not stray from those questions. I finished with an A and a full understanding of the subject material.
She gets a lot of hate because she expects students to put in a lot of effort and expects you to actually know the material. She covers everything in class and offers tons on additional help. You will have to speak up for yourself if you don't understand something, but she is always willing to help. If you put in the effort you will succeed easily.
If you have to take this class pray for her not to be your instructor. Her HW is so long and attendance is mandatory. She records attendance through TopHat, one day my TopHat didn't work, she told me it didn't matter since attendance was not mandatory. However, at the end of the course I realized it did count.
I mean read every other comment. She has to be the one going on here to give herself the 5 stars. She is hands down the worst person/professor i have ever encountered. Texas Tech is doing them a disservice keeping her employed there. Carol needs to be fired immediately given the reputation shes built for herself. Its a shame how poorly she treats us
Disrespected. After a loss I emailed "I am just trying to pick up our lives again and any help you extend will be so appreciated.".Her response was "I am sorry to hear about your loss, You'll need an Orange scantron purchased at bookstore" The test was the next morning.I wish her the best, empathy just isn't her thing. Withdrew, for obvious reasons.

awful
I had to drop the class because I wasn't going to pass (I literally got a A+ 1330) because she is an awful professor. She screams the whole lecture and doesn't teach the material very well. The homework is long and the test are stupid. Wouldn't recommend her class to anyone.
I do not recommend Professor Williams. She yells at the whole class for no reason at all. She does not explain to topic of her lectures well. She likes to complain a lot too. Tech really needs to find better math professors because she is awful.
She yells at everyone majority of the class and never actually explains what she's writing on the board. The homework assignments are extremely long and the test are nothing like the homework
If you look at the other reviews, yes she does yell at you and immaturely acts up when she finds people not paying attention and trying to leave class after attendance was graded. However, even though she is rude, she teaches great, and she goes out of her way to make this class easy, she provides 5 different ways to help you learn
Carol Williams is without a doubt the worst professor I have ever had. To begin with, she is extremely unprofessional, often yelling at the class and in a couple, instances getting in students faces. As far as lecture goes, just skip because you're not learning a thing. If you want a large dwarf with anger issues she is the professor for you!
Her lectures mainly consisted of her screaming at students. She doesn't explain the slides very well. I personally would not take her again, but she does offer a decent amount of extra credit.
Makes you think she's doing you a service by not doing the boring stuff and skips over material and gives you a day and a half to answer 45 questions... Twice a week
Professor just yells all the time and is annoying
I am a person that has always gotten A+ in all my math. It started off pretty good, but then went downhill. She did not teach the material to the best ability, and anytime someone had a question, she would look at them like they were stupid. The homework's are also very long for being there twice a week.
This is the only professor I've rated over my time Texas Tech so far. I DO NOT reccomend you take this class. All she does is yell at her students for asking questions and doesn't explain how she got the answers she does. Her ego fills the entire room, lectures are useless. If you like homework and being disrespected, this is the class for you.
She may seem a bit intimidating but her class is really good. You will have homework every week but it will help you to understand the topics in an easier way, and you will also have a review (that also is extra credit) for the exams, which makes it much easier to prepare for them. She is always willing to help you.
Lots of homework, but it's necessary to understand the course content. Just do all the homework, show up to class, and do all the exam reviews. Exam reviews add bonus points to exam average. Sometimes the class can be overwhelming, but just apply yourself and actually try and it's not bad. She is always willing to help outside of class as well.
I think Carol gets a bad rap because she is more old school and doesn't put up with people's crap. Granted I still don't think her teaching style is amazing, but given its math you have to curve the teaching a bit. Work hard, show up to class, do homework and you'll be fine. Make sure you take advantage of her extra credit that's what saved me.
Mrs. Williams is the worst teacher I have ever had. You get nothing out of the lectures, and she throws temper tantrums worse than I've ever seen by a teacher. I do not suggest taking her at all Tech needs to fire her. If you want to sit threw a lecture and get yelled at for a 3 hours a week take her.
Whatever you do dont take Ms. Carol as your professor. She is the worst teacher in the world, she barely teaches she spends most of her time screaming about things nobody did. I've never not understood math but with her as my teacher I am miserable. She is the main reason I will be switching my major because her class brings down my entire GPA.
Don't listen to the bad reviews. Yes she throws unnecessary tantrums when people leave class and yes she's a little crazy but she is actually really smart and does actively try to help you understand the material and make it as easy as possible. If you don't care about your grades or future then yea the class sucks. Otherwise, it's great.
If you value your mental health DONT TAKE HER Attendance is taken on paper every class, she just yells about her students and never teaches. She also expects you to know how to do everything
Just go to class. She gives several bonus points for students who go to class. She is kind of crazy in my opinion, just take everything that she says with a grain of salt. She supposedly works with students quite a bit in her office hours. You need to do well on all of the exams.
She gives you lots of bonus points especially if you go to class every day and stay the whole time. The concepts are kinda hard in my opinion but she really wants you to understand the material and helps you with homework. I would taker her again!
Please do not take Carol Williams. She was the hardest professor in my entire college career, and I will forever remember her for it, but not in a good way. Her homework assignments were 9 hours long, and she made sure of it. The concepts were hard, and her tests were harder.
Yes some of these reviews are true. She does yell at students and it can be often times frustrating that she spends a lot of time yelling at students rather than teaching the concepts. If you attend SI sessions or her office hours she is always willing to explain concepts to you in a way for you to understand. Just show up to class and do the HW.
Drop
Carol is a little crazy at times and will raise her voice in class but she gives out so much extra credit. This class is hard because it is a weed out class but definitely go to class, take notes, stay the whole time and do the homework. She is also easy to understand cause she has no accent and also post lecture slides and notes.
Do not take
This is my 2nd class with Carol and I wish she could teach all of my classes. She actually cares about her students. Show up to class, take notes and ask questions. She will call on you if you look lost but it forced me to ask the question and learn. You can tell teaching is her passion. The homework are a lot but they help you learn long term.
Do NOT take her class for math 1331 or any math class that she teaches. She is pretty crazy and is notorious for yelling at the class. I have never had a professor this rambunctious so early in the morning. She also gives out 4 homework assignments per week, which is unnecessary.
Do not take!
Took her class Fall 2023. Expect her to yell and scream often, if she has the energy (a ton in the morning after her 20 coffees, but none rest of the day). Lectures are useful, but she hates answering questions in person. I found the material simple, but plenty of students struggle, so take good notes. Take another professor if possible.
This is by far the worst teacher/professor I have ever had during my education. Lectures are completely useless. Students are degraded for asking questions about concepts not understood. I was accused of cheating on a test for not showing enough work, but the Code of Conduct Office found me innocent. Avoid this instructor!
Do yourself a favor and do not take her class. Worst professor I've had so far.
As far as MATH 1330 goes it is hard to find a good professor, so if you have to take it then I urge you to take it with Carol Williams because she is the best teacher for it. That being said she is difficult and the class is meant to weed you out. Your attendance is mandatory and I recommend doing every single homework assignment to at least pass.
Carol is an interesting professor, but in no way terrible. Your grade is based on homework, attendance, and tests, so make sure you attend class. Material isn't hard in the slightest. Pay attention and you'll do well. She offers a good amount of extra credit as well.
Carol. One time when I walked into class she was slamming the desk and yelling at the class. Not only that but if you take her you should ask about Peyton Manning. That being said, the class is not that hard and in my opinion it was extremely beneficial to take Carol because of all the entertaining stories that I got from the class. Overall not bad.
Avoid taking her class at all costs. Carol is an interesting one as she was very loud for no reason. She has about 5 cups of coffee before class so she is READY when you are there at 9am. If you want your learning experience to be filled with unnecessary stories and interesting to say the least, take her class. Homework is long and time consuming.
Very all over the place. Hard to follow at times. Lotssss of homework. Tests and homework only. Otherwise pretty easy to talk to, willing to work with students.
Professor Williams is a very interesting professor. At the beginning of the year you will most likely be scared of her, but over the course of the semester you will learn to like her and realize that she really does care for her students. There 2 homework assignments per week and are through the online textbook, with 4 tests including the final.
Professor Williams runs a tough class, but engaging with her teaching style helps you learn. While she can be intense, use office hours and Unstuckstudy for extra support. The workload is heavy, but doable if you stay on top of it.
She screams at students
I took her class, and she screamed at me, and multiple other students multiple times within the class. She was rude and couldn't care less about her students success. I retook the course with a different professor and got an A, but with her I couldn't pass, and she was unwilling to do anything extra for her students success
She is evil and takes off so many points she's so pick me i can't stand her
Had to teach myself the material. She makes so many mistakes during class and can get to a point of being somewhat arrogant. She's not nice if you make a small mistake (not content wise)
Professor Williams probably isn't great for 1330 which is where most of the bad ratings come from. The types of students in 1330 vs Calc 2 or Calc 3 are VERY different. She's a mathematician; she has a passion for the hard math. She's never yelled or been unreasonable. With Professor Williams, you get out what you put in.
worst professor ive ever had. she makes rude remarks to students asking for help or questions. She goes off topic a lot and moves way too fast through information. TONS of hw
Professor Williams is an interesting professor. She comes across as crazy and scary at the beginning of the semester, but you get somewhat used to it if you stay in the class. She is pretty normal though in her office hours and will gladly help you. There is quite a bit of homework throughout the semester but that's typical for a math class.
Don't take her unless you're ready to teach yourself. I had to learn everything on my own through YouTube. She knows the material but overcomplicates it and makes it confusing. Her practice worksheets help for tests, but be careful because her answer keys often have mistakes.
She is constantly distracted in her youtube lectures. She is slow in her lectures and tends to confuse things often. The way she teaches in her lectures contrast with how the homework teaches, and makes it difficult to learn the material. There is constantly background noise in her videos but she continues to talk. Take this class in person..
If you decide to take this class, understand that if you do badly on the first two exams, there is no coming back. All exams were 80% of our grade, which meant that no matter how hard you worked on the homework, it barely lifted your average. I dropped her once I realized there was no recovering. Don't make the mistake I did by taking her class.
I have never felt such visceral hatred of a person. She has no positives.
I had Prof. Williams for my first semester at Tech. During lectures she might leave you more confused from how much she trips on her own words and forgetting some derivative/integral/series rules. MY best advice is to watch the videos she posts online first, THEN attend lectures to get a full grasp of concepts.
test are extremely hard, bad teacher, shes just angry and old
she isn't even my professor but she does all the 1330 lectures and she ALWAYS MESSES UP, you WILL get confused during the online lectures because she doesn't know what she's talking about so prayers if you actually had her as your professor...
Carol was a decent professor, but I was always more confused when I left her lectures. She does however provide a lot of resources which definitely helped. I recommend watching the videos she provides and doing all of the homework because it helps with the tests. I also recommend going to the SI sessions that Tech provides.
