Absolutely phenominal teacher. Nomatter what school you're attending, I would recommend taking speech from Bennet if at all possible and transferring credit if need be. She IS that good...you will learn so much and she's just an incredible person.

She asks for a lot of work, but she really cares about her students and she is fun to listen to.

Ms. Bennett totally helped me to get over my nervousness. She used great examples in class and was really helpful. I took two of her classes!

I have taken classes at three colleges & universities and Carole (Ms. Bennet) is the best I've ever had. I would tell everyone to take her class.

Loved her class! She was very helpfull. She liked to keep you in class the whole 3 hours, but she kept you busy the whole time. The class just flyes by. You have three tests and 5 speeches. The class was so easy; I got an A.

only 3 speeches, 2 tests, a third thats optional and lots of extra credit...show up and theres no way to fail. you could give (like many of my ex class mates) a speech completely off topic and STILL pass. Shes very dedicated to what she does, gives helpful comments, and really is a good teacher. Easy A

Great teacher, easy class. I made lots of good friends. Her class has a very open feeling to it. I had no trouble talking in front of the class, and her tests are fairly easy as long as you study. There's tons of opportunity for extra credit, too. I highly recommend her.

She is awesome! if you want to learn how to be a effective speaker or communicator - take Mrs. Bennett. You won't be disappointed.

AWESOME TEACHER!!!!!!!!!! Shes pretty easy, you just gotta study a little, and do your speeches. Very easy to get along with and very fair. Absolutely BEST teacher i've ever had! Definately take the class. Im a Mech Engineering major and i took her class for the hell of it. I was not disappointed, and i met my girlfriend there too. hah.

If you do every speech and outline on time and be sure to come to study group (it is extra credit and very very helpful for practicing your speeches) you will get an A or B+. She is great at telling you exactly what you need in all your speeches. Great Teacher, Lots of Fun

Carol is the nicest teacher i have met yet! The class is fun and i met lots of cool people there. As long as you do your work its impossible to fail. The tests are easy too!

Took Interpersonal Communication from Carole. She's serious, yet extremely helpful and nice. Listen well in class & do your assignments, and you can easily get an A. Awesome class & teacher!

Shes an amazing teacher. I had no interest in taking a public speaking class and now i would take another with her in a second. Have your speeches in on time, make sure you do your essays, and u will have to study for the tests (but she puts an outline of exactly what will be on the test on educator.) Its an easy A! Shes so accommodating and great!

She is a very nice teacher and her class is not boring. There are 2 exams and 4 speeches. If you always attend the class and follow her instructions then it should be an easy B

Ms. Bennett is one of the best professors I've had at OCC! She really wants you to learn and succeed. You have to come to class and pay attention, but if you put in the effort you will get the grade. Great class, GREAT PROFESSOR!

She was such a wonderful instructor! Students must present a final speech to pass the class. She gave me positive comments on my papers. There are three tests where the final is optional and is there to possibly replace an earlier test score. Therefore, if you're brave enough to take all three tests, then the lowest test score is trashed. Take her!

Absolutely loved her and this class. I have an anxiety disorder and really did not want to take the class, but I needed it for my ALA so I bit the bullet. Soooo worth it! Because of her and this class, I gave the eulogy at my grandma's funeral and gave a speech a few months after.

Miss Bennett has a lot of interactive activities that help to prepare you for giving speeches. She helped me a LOT, and even helped me with a speech for another class. I learned a LOT-didn't know there was so much to learn! She is great. Will take another class with her!

So happy I had her for a class entirely about giving speeches! I'm horrible at presenting, but this class was great. Still terrified, but she is an incredible person. Classes were NOT boring, I enjoyed just being there. I don't know if I'm any better at giving speeches, but having her as a professor made the class suck less.

By far the greatest teacher I have ever had! She makes the class interesting and she teaches excellently. The workload wasn't even that much. She is so nice and really is an amazing instructor. I wish I could have her for every subject. DEFINITELY stop looking for another professor and sign up for her class!

Great Professor, really wants you to pass and is willing to help you or point you to her Student Instructor for tutoring. Unfortunately the material you are taught in this class is SERIOUSLY outdated and rather insulting to a Professional who has been around the block a few times. Do the work, but DON'T practice what you are taught!!

She's a great teacher. She's always there to help you when you don't understand. She gives long lectures but they're usually interesting to listen to. The work is usually easy. There's a few big assignments at the end but she doesn't grade too hard.

She is Awesome! Don't take you COM classes with anyone else! She is clear about everything and always willing to listen and help. She really tries to get people passionate about something. Here are tips for the class: -Show UP! -Practice your speeches -Take advantage of the student instructor! -Do your speeches in advanced -Just show up.

Carole's class is great. Speech is required for most programs so for sure take it with her. She had a helpful SI and the tests are online and answers are all in the book. Just follow directions, do your work and go to class and you will get an A. She offers a bit of extra credit too. We did 3 brief speeches and one partner speech in this class.

Carole was by far my favorite professor that I have ever had at OCC. She truly cares about her students and by the end of the class everyone is friends with each other. Interesting and fun class! Do not skip though, her class is graded heavily on participation. Wonderful woman, wonderful class. Would absolutely take her again.

Carole was an awesome professor! Coming into her class I was extremely nervous because I hate speaking in front of people! I ended up not only getting an A in her class, but I also learned a lot about how to give a successful speech! Turns out I'm pretty good at speeches! Would take her again in a second.

There are 4 graded speeches, but one is based on 'what changed us' so there was no prep there! The quick speeches were a do-or don't do, and I prepped them as I walked in from the parking lot. Yep, there are 3 tests, but you keep your top 2 scores, so most people didn't even take test 3. If you don't pass, you didn't try.

There's nothing to hate! Show up to class, take notes, go do the extra credit if you can, read the book, and chin up! She makes even the most nervous/shy of people feel better about giving a speech. Excellent teacher! You'll want to be in her class!

Carole is fantastic!! Very involved, friendly, helpful and kind person. Class isn't terribly difficult, however if you are a mook with no social skills it may be a challenge. Tests were online, so the curriculum relied heavily on in class activities, lectures, and presentations (which is perfect for a COM course). Got offered to be an SI. Cool!

Carole Bennett is a perfect example of what a HUMAN being should be. Not only is she a wonderful person but she is an inspiring teacher who goes above and beyond for her students. I feel my class was very special and well connected and we all knew each other by name and got along very well. COME TO CLASS. I never missed one and I LOVED HER CLASSSS!

The BEST professor I have ever had. The class, for me, was very easy. More than the grade, however, I was inspired to be a better version of myself. The lessons and skills learned in this class I will take with me the rest of my life. Seriously, if I have room in my schedule I will be taking more of her classes just for the experience.

LOVED this class, not a fan of public speaking but she makes everyone feel comfortable. As long as she can tell you got up in front of the class and tried your best you can expect an A. 2 exams online, 50 questions then come to class and answer 3 questions(10 points) she will previously tell you the question and answer. NEED to come to class.

Carole is a great instructor. She makes the class very welcoming and enjoyable. Participation matters as it is a communications class. So get ready to know the people in your class. Sometimes shes a hard grader. However, she wants you to become a better communicator. Also, there is a final speech that you must present in order to pass.

always do the extra credit!! makes you work for a good grade but not too hard. your grade really depends on you and how hard you want to work.

I just took a speech class with Carole Bennett. She is AWESOME! I put this class off for a long time because of the anxiety of public speaking and turned out to be one of my favorite classes. I am no longer afraid to speak in front of other classmates. She makes you get comfortable with the other students. Anyone can get an A with honest effort!

I looked forward coming to her class! Exams are online and very easy if you do the study guides. She isn't a tough grader at all when it comes to presentations. She is such a kind person and so is her SI Rahaf. I will honestly miss this class.

I highly recommend this class and this professor. The skills/ info you learn in this class (stages of problem solving, conflict resolution, self fulfilling prophecy, paraphrasing, reflecting, non verbal communication etc) will help you in any work environment you find yourself in. You work for your grade, but its worth it. One of my fav professors

One of the best professors I have taken at Orchard Ridge!!! There are a couple of big projects to do such as a book report, a group presentation, journals, and a final presentation. If you don't like presenting like I am, she really doesn't grade you hard. If you try your best, you will get a good grade on your presentation.

This is one of the best professors Ive ever had. Shes hilarious and makes class fun. If you dont pay attention or read the book then the tests can be hard but the SI does a good job with study guides. Shes super caring and understanding. you become friends with everyone in your class

Amazing professor! She does a great job communicating with the students about what the requirements are, and what the concepts are. If I had to complain about one thing, it is that the in class speeches (which are about 37%ish of your grade) were mainly based on content, not quality, but this can be a benefit for those who are not natural speakers

She is one of the best teachers. She gives clear instructions and is very understanding. If you mess up there is a lot of extra credit opportunity to bring your grade up and Mrs. Bennett grades fare and she replies to emails quickly if you have any questions. Take her feedback into consideration when writing and making Powerpoints.

Professor Bennett is an excellent professor! You can tell she has a lot of experience with speaking and truly cares about you learning and improving your speaking skills. If public speaking is not your thing I would highly recommend taking her!

I've taken so much from Com 1290, I highly recommend taking this class. It;s a class you actually have to do work in, but it's real life stuff you can take with your for school,work and home life!

Very kind and professional. She really cares about her students and their growth in their public speaking skills. She is very understanding if you are nervous. Gives good feedback. Can get a bit political sometimes.

Carole is an amazing teacher. Her class was a lot of fun and she actually cares about her students. She also challenges her students to become better communicators. This is not a blow off class, there is a lot of work but if you actually try you have nothing to worry about.

I had a lot of fun in this class although it kicked my butt. It is a lot of work involved and she makes you work for your grade. Make sure you attend the SI sessions, they help you fill out the study guide and you get extra credit !

This Professor is AWSOME to say the least she is caring, down to earth, and funny. She helped me in so many ways I lost my father and she was their to help me through the challenge that I went through the entire semester. She gave me inspiration by telling me I was Brave for dealing with all I was faced with and passed the class she is a true GEM

This class is a Communication class, so group work and speaking in front of the class is mandatory. She understands that speaking in front of the class can be challenging, she gives you great tips to be successful and also soothes your anxiety a lot! I recommend you take one of her classes!!

If she's available TAKE HER! She is understanding and knows how to properly do her job. Her assignments are not hard at all and easy. Quizzes are easy as well. She is kind funny and knows how to encourage the class. She is understanding and online school wise - she does it great! I highly suggest taking her! DONT MISS OUT!

Easy A, IF you participate and show up the class. The quizzes are easy as long as you do the study guides. The lectures are boring and really long. She does not really give grace if you miss class/are sick. She can be inconsiderate but still an easy A in my opinion

Professor Bennett was really nice but can be hard at times. I think Professor Bennett should make Soliya optional for people because it was a lot of work added to the class and I feel like it would be better suited for students who want to grow more with their communication skills. Be sure to read your book and study the study guides.

Professor Bennett is a great teacher and she really cares about her students. You can tell she has a passion for teaching. There is a speech and Soliya requirement, so if you don't have a lot of time outside of class this might not be for you. Zoom classes are mandatory, but I got a lot of out the classes and I learned so much. I would recommend!

She showed great passion for her job and really cared about teaching and all the students. She made the course challenging but in a good way, forcing you to think outside your comfort zone and really allowing you to learn the material. I highly recommend taking one of her courses.

The zoom class was definitely a lot of work because it was a short paced summer class, but Mrs. Bennett is one of the nicest teachers I've had. you do have to put in the work for your grade, but she really cares about her students and wants everyone to do well. She gives many opportunities for you to do well in the class, def recommend her.

I thought Mrs. Bennett was a wonderful professor. Attendance and participation in class are big things when it comes to points (especially for Soliya), but the content of the course was very easy to grasp and Mrs. Bennett was extremely kind and compassionate throughout the semester. Shes not a tough grader, and id recommend her class for sure :)

Prof. Bennett is such a wonderful teacher. Even though our class was over zoom, she was still really engaging and fun to listen to. We had breakout rooms which was nice because it made me more familiar and comfortable with my classmates. There isn't much homework, the tests are straightforward and there's a lot of extra credit. Somehow managed to make an online classroom feel like an actual classroom. Caring, perceptive. Excellent lecturer (duh, she's a public speaking professor), treats students with respect and guidance. D2L is a bit messy to navigate. Fun course, too; she's good at forging connections with students and between students. Provides opportunities for EC.

While this course was not my favorite, Professor Bennett made it worth it. The lectures are long, but she encourages participation and discussion around topics. She is super supportive even though there are moments where you think she's being overly critical. You can tell she really cares about her students and their success.

Insightful class. Professor Bennett was very kind. Quizzes every week, but don't be intimidated; they're open-book. No midterm or final, but there are quite a few large projects. A lot of group work. She did a good job creating a welcoming environment for everyone, even on zoom.

Professor Bennett was great. Her lectures were long, but she gave breaks and made them interactive and engaging. There is a group speech at the end of the course, but it is an open ended topic. During the semester you will participate in the Soliya Connect Program. I was initially hesitant, but it was one of my favorite things this semester.

Attendance matters because you need to participate to get a good grade, but honestly, it's worth it. As well as the Soliya project, though it is time-consuming (like two hours for one day), it was one of the best things I did, a real eye-opening experience! Overall amazing teacher! Also responds to emails fast!

Professor Bennett's COM1600 class is a challenge, but her supportive teaching style makes it manageable. The lectures are engaging, and she encourages participation. Using resources like unstuck AI alongside the textbook can really help with study prep.

Carole Bennett was my first online instructor. She was always engaging and has respectful. You should know you must give a speech in order to pass her class. I did a lot of reading, and many questions on test/quiz are from within the textbooks and PowerPoints. She will call out on people if no one answers her questions.
