Very Hard and you take notes the whole time w/ a lecture; hard tests.

Mrs. Bucy is an awesome teacher. I had fun in that class, but it was VERY time consuming. Her tests are hard, but if you study its ok. She gets into the subject and makes it fun.

I loved Dr. Bucy's class. She was very passionate about history; always ready to help students; and respectful to everyone. She gives out study guides before tests and goes over them with the class. The online quizzes are a little hard, but you can use your book. If you take notes, study for tests, and do the online quizzes, you'll do fine.

She is challenging but always upbeat and helpful!!!

Dr. Bucy is a good teacher, she really cares about her students and loves History. Her class will be pretty hard if you don't attend. I didn't even buy the book, just took notes and chose Volunteer Work to be 40% of my grade. If you speak in class, and write informed essays on tests you'll be ok. Dr. Bucy wants everyone to pass.

Thoroughly enjoyed Prof. Bucy for TN History. She is extremely knowledgeable and enjoys her subject matter. While the class is challenging at first, if you stick it out she will really help students get through the semester. She will lead study groups before tests and help match up students for tutoring if needed. Very fair in her practices.

Dr Bucy by far is one of the best professors at Vol State! Her passion for History and the knowledge she has can not be rivaled even by a professor in a 4-year University. She genuinely cares for all of her students; and while her exams are challenging- you will definitely be a better student after taking her course! I'm so glad I had her!

Do yourself a favor and take Dr Bucy for any History-related course you have! She is not only brilliant, she is engaging and entertaining. The course is not easy but well worth the effort you make. She is the best of the best at Vol State and I can't wait to take her again next semester!

Prof. Bucy is a warm and personable person who loves history. However some of my classmates had trouble in this class. If you are no good at multiple choice questions or reading, take a different professor. If you are prepared to read the text, and will be able to remember basically what happened, Then take Bucy for your own sake.

One of the best Professors I have had at Vol State. I am taking HIST 2020 with her over the summer , because I have enjoyed her class so much. I highly recommend her!!!

Overall I thought she was decent. She's kinda annoying sometimes in that she pretends your college career revolves around her class. She also chastised us at times about not being prepared. The quizes were online so i used my book. Tests weren't too bad if u read the chapters. Shes not as bad as ppl make her out to be.

Absolutely one of the best at Vol State! You WILL learn in this class! You will not find another professor that cares as much for her students as Dr Bucy. I want to take her for TN History even though I don't need it just to attend one more of her classes. This professor is brilliant, classy, and fun! Do not heed negative comments- take her!

Dr. Bucy is extremely interesting. I could listen to her talk about history all day long. I am a teacher now and have shared several of her stories with my students. Take her class! You won't be disappointed.

I absolutely loved this Professor. She is not easy by any means but if you do the work you will be successful. I have learned so much from her and I would take her again. If you are looking for an easy class then pick someone else. But if you want to know real history then take her. LOVE HER!

This professor is absolutely amazing with her knowledge! She can describe the times, way of life, and how everything was in an era. Class is supposed to be learning and you will be a better student and more knowledgeable after this class. Dr Bucy is really one of the best at Vol State and I CAN NOT wait to take her next class!

I absolutely loved Dr. Bucy. I thought she was very helpful in any way that she could be. It wasn't that it was a HARD class, but you had to listen, pay attention, and attend because there was a lot of information that she explained daily. The reason it was hardest for me was because there was so much information to retain between tests. Not bad!

She is a very smart woman. Be prepared to keep up with a good story because she will give you a lot of them. She tries the best she can to help and even wants to make sure you are reading the material and getting it. There is a lot of information, but good notes from class and the book go all the way.

People complain that she is hard, and don't help all the time. I disagree strongly. As long as you pay attention and write notes down, you'll be fine. Her essays are worse than her test(in my opinion). If you are a slacker/textaholic, yes, you will fail the class.

A lot of people don't like her or thought she was hard, but if you do the work and at least attempt to try then you will get a good grade. She is awesome at explaining things, while making them interesting. I completely loved her and am going to take the rest of the classes she teaches. You just make sure that for the test, you study what she says.

She expects students to be interactive and thoughtful. She teaches more than memorizing dates and has a great deal of passion for it. This was my favorite hisory class.

One of the best teachers ive ever had, i had her for History I and II and made an A in both and never read the book. her test r from her lectures so take notes, the essays r the worst but if u read and analyze the documents u will be fine

Very tough class but superb instruction. She is fair and she does not degrade students as mentioned. Goes the extra mile to help offers SI classes. Expects you to understand the WHY of history. Have taken 3 classes under her and probably felt she is the most qualified professor on campus. If you don't care to work take her class. Very rewarding.

Bucy is a great teacher! I've taken her for three classes. You definitely have to come to class though, EVERYTHING on the test comes from her lecture- take good notes! You can tell whats going to big a point on the test because she will repeat it several times.

Excellent instructor. Very knowledgeable. Follow instructions, read the book, participate in class= doing well. Very helpful. Expects you to work. Always available. Class is very interesting.

Best professor I have ever had. Took her for 3 of my 5 history classes at VSCC. She is demanding but very helpful if you go to her. Reading the book is overrated if you take notes in class unless she mandates quizzes then READ. I are a serious student then take Dr. Bucy. I am a better student today because I took her three times.

Dr. Bucy is the toughest and the best teacher I have had at Vol State. An overwhelming amount of work, but she adjusted due dates and workload in the middle of the class. If you need help ask her for help and she'll bend over backwards. Hint: get her DVD's from the library that are meant for the hybrid class. Don't get behind & TAKE GOOD NOTES!

Dr. Bucy is a treasure for Vol State. You are in college to learn and that is what you will do in her class. She has written text books, appeared on PBS, and has given lectures around the state. She is an amazingly brilliant and compassionate woman, and I feel fortunate to have had her. Appreciate her knowledge and use it to your advantage!

Professor Bucy really makes you work for the grade that you get. Every day in this class is productive and needed. She gives slack if she knows you're working hard and often finds sympathy in the average college student.

The hardest class I have ever taken, but I think it was because I took it online. The history of TN would have been more interesting to me if I had learned it from her instead of teaching myself. If you don't read the chapters, you will not pass. That is for sure. SHE WANTS YOU TO DO WELL! Be ready to devote hours to this class. A wise lady.

Dr. Bucy is a highly respected historian in Middle Tennessee, and I have learned a ton, while also taking 4 other classes. With that said, she is one of, if not the most, difficult teachers I've had. However, it is classes like this that will teach you competitive skills such as analytic reading and writing. This is the big leagues boys and girls.

Very kind and wise woman. She'll help you if you ask. You just have to work for your grade. Read each chapter before the class over it. She's very knowledgeable. The essays are very open ended on the tests so that even if you didn't review very much on the topic, you still have a chance to fake it and try to make it. The class just requires work.

My friend took her online, and he said it was probably the hardest class hed ever taken. He then took her in class, and now he agrees with me. She makes you work, but shes an amazing and genuine teacher. I would recommend completely, as long as youre willing to earn your grade instead of being handed an A.

The class is tough, but expectations are clear. Don't wait until the last minute in this class. Professor is very willing to answer any questions. I learned a great deal and enjoyed the class.

Dr. Bucy is a great professor. Her class requires a substantial amount of work. She is always available for questions and help. Just do the work and you will do well.

This is the first time I had Dr. Bucy. She does expect you to do a lot of reading, but this is a college level class. She is available to answer questions and is very quick to respond to e-mails. If you need guidance she will provide it. If it is possible for me to work my schedule around to take another one of her history classes again, I will.

Dr. Bucy was a difficult teacher. I however learned so much in her class. She is super encouraging. I feel like she always lets you know how you are doing and how you can improve. Make sure you do the discussions and do them as the syllabus says. If you watch the videos and read the chapters she tells you to you will do fine in this class.

Super nice professor but no way to get all items she wants done on time, take ANY OTHER person. 40 chapters a week plus diccussion boards you have to post on 3 times a week and random assignments you don't even know about.

Dr. Bucy is a sweet teacher, but she does give out a LOT of work. Be prepared to read 40+ pages and take a chapter quiz before the week starts along with a discussion post of a minimum of 3 paragraphs. She also has four tests with 50 MC questions and an essay section. In addition, 4 essays corresponding to each module. Super hard but great.
