fair but tough, cares if you learn
Difficult to follow along, does group work w/o explaining material
Very difficult to understand. Lots of bad group work. DO NOT TAKE!!
Avoid at all cost
No Comments
She is horrible.
She is a great teacher...easy to understand, very helpful, and cares enough to try and help you get a better grade
pointless writing assignments for a non writing intensive class. very hard tests. avoid at all costs
She makes you work hard but it was well worth it.
Four people dropped the class!! She is nice, but tests are outrageous and very hard! She can be very confusing!
Avoid at all costs!! I had to drop the class because it was so bad.
Very hard! Lecture, book, and handouts didn't go together at all. Avoid at all costs!
This class was not easy, but the teacher was fair and she taught you exactly what you needed to know for the tests. I got a good grade, but I had to work for it.
This was the hardest class. I did great on all assignments, read the book and took notes while reading. Studied my butt off for a D. No help from teacher. Tests were ridiculous. The only D I have ever had. Avoid her, but other options are no better.
Absolutely brutal.
Hard course but I learned more in this course than I did in all the other courses that I've taken
Very diffucult professor, Expects students to know vast amounts of information, Assumes students know vast amounts of information, and the tests will leave you feeling empty and desparate. But all things considered she is fair honest and passionate.
I suppose a good psychic could pass this class, having foreknowledge of exam questions and answers but I don't see how the average Joe or anyone else for that matter could get a decent grade without entirely giving up all other aspects of life. Agonizing!
I learned a lot but you couldn't tell from my grades, she teaches like undergrades in a 200 level class should have the knowelge of a graduate student, I would encourage auditing her class but not taking it for a grade
Repeatedly beating my head into my desk was more fun then her class. Be prepared to watch your GPA fall like a rock.
Very Hard Class. Had to work my butt off for a D. But I learned more in this class than any other. Very Nice Teacher, but get ready to spend every waking hour studying.
None of the study questions were on the test. She was rude in class. I read almost the entire text book and worked very hard just to pass the class. I wouldn't wish this class on my worst enemy.
Tests are not what she covered in class. Her study questions are not what are on the tests. Her class participation policy is a joke. And her wall street journal papers are not hardly fair on the way she grades them. Thinks all students are econ majors.
TERRIBLE!! AVOID AT ALL COST!!
Awful class. Expects active participation every class from every student, and docks grades harshly if you don't. Tests are extremely difficult, don't be misled by them being multiple choice. Avoid her if at all possible.
she is rude, biased and prejudiced. She's the worst professor i ever had.
I dropped her class because I couldn't get myself into really understanding the wall street journal assignments. I know of A students getting C's because of the participation requirement. I would rather change my major then taker her again.
She was good at presenting the material, but her tests were harder then what she went over in class. They were the hardest multiple choice tests that I have ever taken in my life! She should at least curve if she is going to give such hard tests!
I have a 3.8 gpa, got the first c of my life in a gen ed class. test have nothing to do with what she covers in class, and her practice test are completly irrelevant to her test. seems to bring personal matters to class (bad mood often) do not take
I got a D in the class, and I know I'm not the only one. As someone else said, the tests were near impossible no matter how long you study. Not pleasant at all. Gets mad and proceeds to try to make you feel dumb for the rest of class.
This is the worst professor I have ever had. Not only are her tests impossible, but they rarely contain anything we went over in class!! She doesn't care about the students; there were even review sessions when she refused to give out the answers!!AVOID
She is the hardest professor I've ever had. Like everyone else has said, avoid her if at all possible. Her tests are the hardest I've ever taken even though I read everthing. She also likes to point people out in class and make them look stupid.
HORRIBLE!! ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!! The tests are exremely hard and do not seem to include the concepts she goes over in class. I dont know how she is a college professor...I thought Englehardt was bad, but this woman makes her look golden...
This was a joke im an honor role student who previously got an A in ec 205. i have 204 with her now and im sitting on a fat F. Her tests are near impossible no matter how much you study. She tries to trick you on every question on tests. Avoid!!!
Seems alright at first. Tough grader on assignments. Study your ass off for the tests, they are impossible.
This professor is completely unreasonable when it comes to participation. A word of advice: take notes on what she SAYS not what she WRITES on the overhead...or better yet, don't take her at all!
I have to agree with everyone else, this class is VERY hard. I pulled off a B with the grace of GOD!Her tests are near impossible I would avoid her but i've heard that the whole EC dept. sucks at WSU so good luck!!!
She is the worst teacher to live, u have to be crazy to take her class
Absolutely a terrible teacher. She also is not responsible for her syllabus. Example: her drop date on syllabus was wrong. She said you could go to the chairman and complain , but others have with no results. This implies this occurs often on her syllabus
Not a horrbile prof, just really hard. Intentionally tries to trick you on the exams, though. You go into the exams feeling confident and leave with a F. Avoid if you can.
The whole econ department sucks but especially her! she is horrible! i went to every class and got c's on the tests, i went to her for help and she told me to try harder!!!
Wow, this woman is impossible. Impossible to get an A, nearly impossible to get a B. You go into the exams thinking you know the material then are blindsided by the exam. STAY AWAY! If shes the only option, just wait till next quarter since you wont be passing with her as the prof.
Absolutely nothing from her notes are on the exams. Just when you think you've studied the correct material, during the exam you learn to your dismay that it was not. She is not clear on what she expects from you. The review sessions are a joke. Avoid if you wish to retain your sanity.
Horrible, don't do the writing assignments.
She has a bad reputation as being hard, but she is very fair. Read the chapters since most of the test material comes from the book. If you listen to her lectures then you will be able to answer all the questions quickly and correctly. Writing assignments are not hard and help with the material
Took her as an Honors course which isn't a good idea. Expect a B if your lucky and know your stuff. EC Micro is challenging no matter who you have but she is kind of ditzy and wont back down even if she's wrong.
Horrible teacher.Mean. Don't take her class if avoidable. Her exams are rediculous.
READ! READ! PARTICIPATE! If you do this, I guarantee at least a B!
Awesome prof. probably my fav. in the whole col. of biz. If you go to class and listen, take notes, and participate you can get an A. It is def. not an easy class so be prepared to work. She is very clear and helpful and gives plenty of examples. She is strict and the test is hard but it is do-able!!
This was a very demanding class for just be a business requirement. In order to succeed, read, read, read. Don't take the paper option. Try to participate as much as you can and attend all classes. She's a pretty good prof. just a little strict.
Very tempermental. Get on her good side early or she will destroy your papers. Tough, exhausting material, don't take over the summer if you can help it.
DO NOT TAKE HER, take Kloft instead, she is horrible.
Economics is not my cup of tea, and Endres definately did not make things easier. She expects a lot, but gives little. Her teaching methods are out ouf date and hard to follow. She is really bad and even took points off a test (which was already graded) even though it was a scoring error. Avoid!
H O R R I B L E ... I about passed out when I found out I had a D and not an F in this class. she will definately depress you. For the sake of your GPA, avoid her. I'm going to use freshman forgiveness...
This is the worst teacher I've had in Econ, hated it! Avoid taking her for this class at ALL cost. Don't do the paper option--extra work for a low grade.
WOW, I thought about dropping out of school after this class.
class is VERY hard so if you can, take a similar course elsewhere and transfer it in (distance learning). one of the hardest courses at wright state university. i hear that she is curving her exams now, based on your attendance, so don't miss class cuz u will need her curve!! i'll prob get a D & i actually studied ALOT. don't do the papers option!!
She's very tough, but if you go to class and study A LOT! you can get a C or even a B if u get lucky. She's pretty good at explaining the material, and She'll be willing to help during her office hours. (don't ever think about correcting her about something! she'll make your life miserable!)
DON'T DO IT!
Helpful but very demanding....she is too smart for her own good.....I believe she cares about the students but is frustrated with their lack of understanding of the subject...this is a result of her teaching methods.
Let me just say, do the papers! You get a choice between writing the papers and just taking the tests. I got an A in her class because of this and the huge grade boost she gave on the tests for those who regularly attended classes.
This teacher is horrible. The worst teacher I have ever had or probably will ever have. I advise not to take her...but if you HAVE to, attend all the lectures(even though they're horrible) and do the papers. She makes you feel stupid if you don't know the answer, instead of helping you or anything remotely nice.
She was horrible at explaining concepts, and gave very poor examples. She became frustrated when students did not understand her material, because of her poor teaching. If you can avoid her, please do.
She pretty much ruined Economics for me. I loved it in high school, but she has a horrible teaching style, gave bad examples, and was unresponsive to questioning of her methods. I advise anyone who needs this class to take it with someone else!!
This professor was so bad that I had to drop the class. The day before our first test we did an in-class review, noone understood the questions and she couldn't explain why our answers were incorrect. When someone questioned her answers, she wouldn't give an explanation and said she would explain it later. We had a test the next class!!
when i was in high school, i thought econ was easy. When i met Endres, i was afraid to even go to class. she doesnt explain anything thouroughly and once you get down in her class, you are down for good. AVOID HER IF YOU CAN
Way too tough for a Global Economy class. Her notes are terrible, and she gives way too many of them. Expects you to read up to 20 wall street journal articles for each test, and know specifics about each one. Does not tell you what will be on the test, just tells you to know everything thoroughly. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
I love the global economy and this class made me hate it, I've always been really good at Econ, but for some reason I just didn't understand what was being asked on tests...don't take this as a one day a week class, its torture.
This is one of the worst professors ever. The text book that she claims she published is one of the most confusing books ever published. It has messed up pages and duplicated pages which are NOT arranged in order. It looks like a "boot leg" copy.
The other posts here are shocking to read after having Prof. Endres myself. She is very helpful if you do not understand something. She is a very good professor and the best I've seen out of the Econ dept (which is not exactly a talent pool). I have a feeling the other posts were made by typical, lazy students who would fail ANY class. GROW UP
I took this class and had to drop it because her tests were so hard and she based my grade on only the tests. I would reccommend not taking this teacher unless you expect to drop the class or get a low grade.
Very unclear an not very helpful. Avoid.
This is the worst teacher I have had. She epitomizes a teacher with tenure who doesn't give a crap about the students' learning and often taught innacurate material, and included wrong questions on the tests.
This is a tough class... but do the work and you'll be fine
Prof. Endres is a good professor, but her class is very hard. In the beginning, it seems really easy, and you feel as though you know the information. Wrong!!! After the first exam, I realized she teaches directly out of the book. She is very helpful, if you have any questions. To pass this class do the following:STUDY! Only 4 grades. Her grade B
This teacher was very attached to her notes. I could not depend on the book to understand every little detail that she went over. I dropped the class immediately after the second exam because I did not want to know how bad I did.
she wants you to know everything and you cant for this class.
Worst teacher at Wright State. Will not answer any questions you have, impossible tests, very boring. Avoid no matter what. Epitomizes a teacher who doesn't care and is just going through the motions.
She's hard but willing to help...assigned seats so pick ur seat wisely on day one so you can keep it. I didn't study for the first exam and did poorly on it so the rest of the quarter was catching up. She told me I got a 90% on old material on the final but bombed the new stuff. Make sure you study regularly and pay attention in class and you'll
This the hardest class eva! Dont take her!
Very difficult class. She gives examples in class but they don't really help come test time... Tests are hard! I would avoid this class or try to get another prof!
Gives examples in class but doesnt show the MATH of it. This makes it difficult if math isnt your thing anyway. Went to every class, studied and read on my own, and I still expect to get a D or an F when I needed a C. One of the hardest classes/teachers I've had at WSU!
She's awful. I took 205 which is the same material and still tanked the exams. If you attend class she curves your exam, but 90% of the time the curve isn't enough to make a difference. Her exams are extremely difficult, and I wish I would have listened to the ratings here before choosing her. Dropping the class.
endres is a terrible teacher! shes a narcissist and does not care one bit about her students or whether they fail her class or get an A. her text book is pieced together and missing parts and she expects you to memorize wall street journal articles for tests. if you don't raise your hand you are dropped a letter grade (not exaggerating)! AVOID!!!!!
I should have realized something was wrong when she gave assigned seats. We are NOT in elementary school anymore and a professor that treats her COLLEGE AGE students like 5 year olds should be fired. Her notes were aweful and she only gave you participation points IF you answered one of her questions RIGHT! She does not know how to teach! Avoid!!
Half the class missed because of Hurricane Ike she still held class and gave an exam the next week. Hard exam with none of the answers in the 150.00 custom textbook you cannot return. Do not take her class!
Exams are thorough, but her lectures aren't. Have to have a good conceptual and applicable knowledge of the Global Economy to be successful in her class.
When she says lecture will start at this time... IT STARTS! There was only 2 people in the class and she lectured while the other 30+ students were outside waiting for her to open the door after the test! She doesnt care if you pass or understand anything... she is set on a schedule and only teaches at that! I dont recommend her at all!
This is the worst teacher I have ever had. She complicates everything and makes you feel like an idiot. I really think she enjoys when people fail. 10% is participation. If you come to every class but do not answer her questions CORRECTLY, you get 0. Exams are like graduate school level. IGNORE BIG TIME!!!
I attended all classes, payed attention, took notes, and USED the study guide to get a good grade. The class will be difficult if you are not willing to work for the grade you desire.
do not take this class with her. she's very fast paced, so it's hard to keep up with notes. don't expect to pass test. showed no compassion for her students. she gives her lecture while she drinks her coffee and then leaves
I wish I would have listened to everyone on this site. She is the worst teacher. Her tests are so hard even though I studied for hours I still did not do well. Do not take her, if she is the only one teaching take it a different quarter. She is the worst teacher I have had at WSU!!!
VERY BAD JUST FROP THE CLASS OR TAKE SOME BODY ELSE.
I already have trouble understanding Economics, but this lady was so hard! She even curves down 10 percentage points because she knows she is so hard! Very fast paced, tried to cram in as much material as she could. 4 tests, each 25 percent of the grade, no drops, no homework to earn points. Studied for hours to no avail. TAKE DIFFERENT PROF!
Pleasantly Surprised. From all the posts on here previously, I was scared to take her as a professor. But with a little reading of the book and paying attention in class, it is not hard to get an A. Very clear professor and she knows her stuff! Would take again.
I was scared to enter the class with her because I had heard the 10% participation was impossible to get. But she really knows econ and if you go to class you will be fine. I never read the book except chapter summaries and got all A's on exams, but I never missed class. Read the articles and be prepared to make one or two comments on WSJ days.
she is the worst teacher I ever had. I studied the textbook and still got D. DONT take her.
She makes you buy this frankenstein textbook that doesn't make any sense and you can't sell it back. Then, she talks like everyone is a EC major. I went to every class, studied, read the articles and still got an F. She is one of the only profs for RSCOB who is not foreign yet she's much harder to understand! Just take with KLOFT!
HORRIBLE! Do not take her! Listen to the posts, I wish I had. I studied from the ridiculous book for hours and still got a D in the class! The tests are overbearing, almost like she is TRYING to trick you with her wording. It was a waste of time and money!
Terrible professor. Studied the text, and took good notes, still did not pass tests, which were hard to understand. She contradicts herself when asked questions during lecture. Find another prof.
Contradicts herself when asked questions during lecture, and tests are hard to understand. Read the book and took good notes, and still failed them.
Not a good prof to take if econ is confusing to you; she will make it worse. Hard tests (even with lots of studying) and at times confusing lectures.
Terrible prof. still uses the over head projector like in highschool! tests are HARD even when studying AND tutoring DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF
This prof would get confused in class and make mistakes regularly. Our class average on every test was a 71-75% w/o a curve. Do take her unless you absolutely have to
She is very rehearsed and unclear. She understands the subject well but cannot teach it to people that don't.
She is totally ambivalent as to whether you do well. I have spent a lot of time studying and still can not make sense of the material even with all of the study resources. This has been a very bad class experience.
You will understand book material but everything Carole attempts to teach makes zero sense.
Bottom line, if you care about your grade point average, drop the class and take another quarter. It only gets worse as the quarter continues. There's a reason we started with 40 students and ended with 15. There's a reason there are mostly frown faces on her rating on this site.
Bottom line, if you care about your GPA drop the class or wait until another quarter to take her, she will only hurt it. I'm an Economics of the Arts major and I still struggled with her tests. There's a reason classes start with 40 and end with 15, also this site is filled with frown faces. Don't be a hero, it's not worth the grade.
What makes her class difficult is that she does not give you the answers. For example, a test study question is, ?What are the attributes of a foreign market?? You won?t find in the book a sentence saying, The attributes of a foreign market are? She makes you think critically and extrapolate. If you can?t do that, or if your understanding of the su
Be prepared to do alot of reading, both book and online Wall Street Journals. The book is a mix of books and has no flow. You must THINK CRITICALLY. Answers are not obvious or spelled out. She normaly doesn't round. Her test study ?'s help, but take 12+ hours to complete. Class is passable; expect a C if you work very hard. Avoid her if possible!
Grades solely on tests and class participation (questions/obvious comments don't count). Expect to COMPLETELY immerse yourself in the material if you want to get an A or B. Good deal of test questions are found nowhere in the text or study guides. As previously stated, she's a GPA killer with tenure. Avoid at all costs.
worst professor I've ever had. her notes don't help and the book is useless. nothing she talks about is on her tests. the things you go over are pointless and don't matter. she won't help you out no matter what. avoid her at all costs.
Wow, she really was terrible. This class was like graduate level complicated. Hald of her students fail every year and she still teaches incomprehensibly. but that dont matter--SHE HAS TENURE! 4 words: DO NOT TAKE HER
her favorite word is "relative". her favorite things to do is make the class harder than an upper level physics course, not clearly explain things, and make you read a book thats about twice the size of the bible. taking her was the biggest mistake of my life. she makes it just BARELY passable--and even thats giving her way too much credit.
Most people will not be prepared to take Endres and get a good grade. Course requires extensive experience and analysis. It is a messy subject and she's not going to give you a break. If you want an A and are not a straight A student, you wont get an A. 40 solid hours of studying required per week to get B. FOCUS ON CONCEPTS NOT ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS
Do not take this class unless you absolutely have to. If you want to do well in this class, be ready to devote yourself completely. The optional study guide (if she is still using the book I used) is a major help.
Avoid this class and professor at all costs. All of these bad reviews are not exaggerated, she is not clear on what she will be testing on. Even her study guides and books will not have examples of what is on the test and when the test is received it will be material not discussed. Avoid
This professor is very unclear on what she will test on, she is not helpful on questions in class, and creates an unnecessarily difficult and stressful class. Even as someone who received an A in this class, I don't recommend this class to anyone. Period. Economics should not be this difficult and this professor is unfair.
Professor is simply poor. She has a very clear understanding of the material, but is not a good teacher. She becomes visibly frustrated by a student asking multiple questions, often making mistakes when she has to work on the fly. She has a schedule that she has difficulty deviating from. Also is very unclear what she will test on. Pass!
This teacher is ridiculously hard. If you don't have A LOT of experience in the subject you won't get an A.
I should have listened. I had to drop to 12 credit hours just so I would have the time to study for this class so I could try to salvage my GPA. I was an Economics major before this class, I have since changed it.
Professor Endres is actually one of the best teachers at WSU. She clearly knows the information in the book because she has used it all her life. Although the class is extremely difficult and I being an A student have spent more time on this class than any others. I have also learned and actually retained the info. Recommended to serious students.
She's a really hard professor. She knows what she's talking about and is available, but it's a really hard class. Try to take with a friend, it makes studying a little easier because you can bounce ideas with each other. This class requires you to think a lot, it's more case by case than fact based.
What you need is the Colander Study Guide Book. I'm NOT an A student or that person that aces every exam they take. I literally spent about an hour every night b4 the exam with this study guide book, went to every class and out of the 4 exams I got 3 B's and one A. I swear the trick is having that study guide.
DO NOT TAKE HER FOR THIS CLASS!!! If you can take it with another professor do so. Your GPA will drop with her class... She's very unclear as to what her tests are over and her study guides are horrible. The notes in class aren't good at all! I've had foreign professors with better notes and the class average for the 1st test was a D or F.
Every comment you see on here is spot on. Every question is a bad question to her. She is confusing and makes constant mistakes. Why she is even allowed to teach is a mystery.
I understand why she gets bad reviews but she is a good professor. If you dont want to learn economics and just want an easy grade, go elsewhere. If you want someone who is going to challenge you and help you understand concepts, take her class. She is helpful and answers all questions. Would take again!
A hard class to begin with, but she makes it harder. She certainly knows the subject, but is condescending when you ask questions and makes alot of mistakes. Exam questions are vague. Her lectures are sometimes incoherent and disorganized. Example: She says "There are 5 types of"...but only 4 are listed on the whiteboard.
if you plan on passing her class you will have to know every detail of the book and her lectures inside and out. that is the ONLY way you can pass. her "study sheets" are no help at all. she will interupt you when you are doing presentations. she will look at you and treat you like you're stupid if you ask a question. DONT TAKE HER
very hard prof. her tests are very difficult. you need to understand the book, the handouts and the her lecture extremely well. the only grades are tests which makes it stressful. the only good thing is that if you dont miss class more than 3 times the grading scale shifts down 3 points.
Does not write legibly and rushes through material. Goes way too fast to comprehend. All of her class time spent is lecturing with no hands-on material to help you learn. Do not recommend!
I was a 4.0 student before I took this class, but not anymore after taking it. It is extremely difficult material and she doesn't explain it in a way that is easy comprehend. The good thing is that she shifts the grading scale down by 3% if you don't miss more than 2 classes. Take very good notes and definitely read the chapters.
Dont take her!!!!!! The tests are hard and complicated. After the first test she gave 3/4 of the class dropped her class. By the end of the semester ther were only 10 of us in a class that used to have 25.
Very hard. Likes to grade based on critical thinking on material never mentioned in class. On test she likes to put 2 right answers one that is right and the other that is "the best" answer. Very confusing. Avoid avoid avoid
