If you dont get an A in this, your a pure idiot.
I have a pretty good understanding of Calc. This professor is a total moron. One must know Calculus before one can teach it. She most definitely does not know what she is doing. Every class she gets 2nd guessed by students and she only knows the answers because she has her little cheat sheets up there with her as she writes them on the board.
Prof. Esposito is a sweetheart. She comes in early every day before class to help students with their homework. She does examples directly from the book, so you know it will be relevant to the homework. Calculus is a hard class, but if you're willing to put the time in to learn it, you will do well in her class.
she will make sure u understand everything. all her quizes and tests are directly from the homework, which she goes over in class. awesome teacher.
My favorite Math teacher ever!!!!!! She will help anyone that is struggling and will go out of her way for students.
She is nice but she makes A LOT of mistakes which kind of killed her credibility. Quiz every day (from HW), midterm, final (both worth 40%).Gave a sample of midterm, changed numbers on a real one. Final was a take home. Basically no reason why you should get less than an A.
she is pretty easy and lets you use notes
Because she was so easy before, she snapped and changed everything around. Her example problems don't explain sh**, the book doesn't explain sh**, she collects and grades your homework with problems that she didn't explain, and she quizzes you with problems NOT from the homework. The final's takehome but only 20% of your grade.
I loved her class. I have never had a math teacher that is so helpful and explains everything in detail. She is a really nice person. She gives quizes everyday, that gets annoying but do the homework and you will get an A/B on everyone. Best math teacher I have had at DePaul. I honestly miss her.
She makes a lot of mistakes. If she understands what she is teaching she does a good job, but the further you go in the book the less she understands and the less she can teach very well. Don't take this class if you need someone to hold your hand through math classes. but otherwise pretty easy.
She is somewhat helpful in the fact that she tries to teach you to understand it. She leaves out some important information, and make a lot of mistakes. NO take home finals or quizzes unlike what people said before. If you read the book you should get a C.
I would not take this professor again. The problems on the homework and in class don't match the exams at all. She thinks that with a "university education" you should be able to learn concepts on your own.Beware, you can understand her and she likes to answer questions, but she makes tons of mistakes on the board. She confuses people very easily.
Absolutely terrible. Impossible quizzes, lengthy homework assignments, and exams that cover problems far more complicated than anything done in class. I worked extrememly hard in this class only to not pass by 2% points. Horrible teacher
She is a sweet lady who will help you if you do not understnad something. She goes over the hw problems you have problems with and loves participation. She actually teaches you rather than just telling you. Cares about her students, great teacher and i would recommend her to anyone i myself have taken her twice mat130/bms126
She is very nice teacher & helpful!!She comes class 1hour before and helps our homework. If you work on HW you will get A or B. No midterm but some tests.
She is a good teacher and wonderful lady. Take good notes, participate, and don't be afraid to ask for help. She tends to teach formulas and lessons that aren't in the book and that's all you can use to receive full credit on tests and quizzes but it's sometimes better her way so use them. Just do the homework and participate. You'll be fine.
She was an average professor; she makes a lot of mistakes on the board, but as long as you do the homework and understand it, you should be fine. The final was take-home and was problems from these special practice packets she gave us. Better than Glennon, anyway...
She's very knowledgeable in her field. However, she makes dozens of mistakes in her work on the board as well as in her speech when giving assignments or simply explaining math..maybe it's mild dyslexia. She wears a purple glove and cries when her cats die. She's inhuman if you have a small conflict with her. Simply put, don't deal with her.
class was pretty easy you have hw and a midterm and final shes a little crazy and wears a purple glove, but shes nice and is always cheerful you shouldnt have a problem in this class it was really easy
Professor Esposito really wants her students to learn. Extremely flexible in helping, unfortunately doesn't check email to often as she doesn't have a computer at home. Encourages participation, gives a good amount of extra credit. Quizzes, midterms, and final are clearly explained beforehand. Highly recommended!
GREAT teacher!!! very clear, makes math interesting
She is a good teacher, coming from someone who hated math.Easy points for simply doing homework and she gives out extra credit that helps your grade. She doesn't try and trick you.She has a few things that irritates her, like people leaving to go to the bathroom, but that doesn't mean she can't teach. She knows the material well and teaches well.
She's a good teacher....She does complain about bathroom breaks so make sure you take care of your business before heading off to class. But overall, she's understanding and loves to be sucked up to...I mean I don't know about you but I will suck up to a teacher if it would get me an A...and I would talk crap about them later...It's the way to go
very nice and helpful!
carol is an awesome teacher! she makes class really fun and explains everything so well. i loved her class!
"The Honest Reviewer" She is a teacher who is willing to help. She was very opened to suggestions such as extending deadlines. The only flaw I believe she has is that she makes mistakes once in a while, so it takes a student to correct her here and there. Overall, its one of the best professors I have had.
LOVE THIS TEACHER!number one math teacher in Depaul, she just make you love math!as long as participaie in every class,do your homework, come class on time, and the mid-term, final exam, study the text review which it give you answer, easy A. i wish she will teach Mat 137.
She is very helpful and willing stay on a subject if students don't understand it. I was leery before I took this class because it had been a few years since my last math class, but she made it totally comfortable. I am even taking the next Calculus class that she teaches.
Highly recommend!! she is crystal clear and her tests are easy if you study. doesnt collect hw but there is a hw quiz every day, like in most math classes. she's a little...strange..sometimes but her class is fun overall. take her!! im glad i did
Its a pile-on of praise for this instructor. She invests a lot in her students, really cares about students understanding of the material. She made herself available to a lot of students to help them out individually. Loves to be caught making a calculation mistake. Engaging, humorous, and demanding. Take her class.
Professor Espostio is really strict. She is an excellent teacher, but is very picky. She is upbeat and funny. Her tests are hard and long. I really enjoyed her as a teacher, but just get off to a good start and then you will be fine.
Subject matter is simple. She is incredibly picky though. She is kind and friendly, but because of her pickiness of the explanations she wants, most A students are most likely going to end up with a B or C. Don't take her if you think you're going to get an easy A in this class.
She is extremely picky and not very understanding. She reminds me of a mean high school teacher. She does not want you to go to the bathroom and it is impossible to get a good grade on the quizzes because she is so picky. Avoid her!
Definitely recommend. I'm not interested in Statistics but she made it interesting. If you attend class and keep up with homework you will be fine.
Prof. Esposito is very good about explaining concepts clearly, and making sure everyone in the class understands them. She also keeps everyone involved. Her passion for this subject bleeds through each of the lectures which makes it easier to learn. Her tests are tricky, but the homework is easy if you do it after class.
THIS IS THE BEST PROFESSOR EVER! I LOVE HER SHES A SWEETHEART. YOUR A LUCKY ONE IF YOU EVER ARE CHOSEN TO BE TAUGHT BY HER.
I understand that she is nice and all but she has terrible priorities. She is obsessed with having students solve problems "her way" and wastes countless hours teaching us methods not in the book. She also has a wastes a lot of time talking about her self and telling us "how to succeed in industry." Freaks out if you try and use the bathroom.
She is so nice. Like an aunt. She uses the textbook a lot. Don't bother her once she is in the zone and teaching something because she will lash out at you. She hates it when people leave to use the bathroom. It is not hard to get on her good side, but the same thing can be said about her bad side. With that, this was a really fun class.
She is so picky about the most unimportant things like going to the bathroom. She makes you solve problems in ways that arent in the book so paying attention in class is a must. she teaches problems by doing them wrong so students can correct her which is so annoying. shes an okay teacher but i wouldnt take her again because shes so picky.
the best way to compare her to something is a high school teacher simply because of how picky she is If you can deal with that then you'll be fine One thing that was frustrating is I received a B because I didnt do things exactly the way she wanted On the only multiple choice test which was the final I got over 100 but some quizzes and hw hurt me
As a teacher, she's average. Willing to go over things more than once & will meet with you outside of class. However, she forces her personal opinions/beliefs onto students. Very rude when being challenged. Does not keep feelings/emotions/personal life outside of classroom.
Great professor! She's so nice, and her class is very easy! Does great examples, gives you a packet of all possible test questions beforehand acting as a great study tool, fair grader, and she always is in a great mood, making the class go by 10x faster! She's like a long-lost aunt who's always willing to share some of her personal stories!
She's meticulous but fair. You either like her or you don't, but I thought she was good.
Excellent teacher. Probably one of the best math teachers I've ever had. Explains concepts well and is willing to help. Gives you advice for the real world, which you can take or leave. However she has one flaw: she is super picky which can lead her to being rude to you. Can get on her good or bad side very quickly. Would take her again
Great Great professor. Knows what she is talking about and is well aware of the complexity of the class. Take her!
Although her class was rather easy, she treats her students like high school students rather than college students. If one does not show their work entirely, she marks the problem as incorrect, which seems unreasonable if you have proven knowledge on the subject repeatedly.
Her tests were not very difficult because she provided sample questions prior to the tests and she was clear on how she wanted problems done. However, she treats her students like little children and calls students out for things that do not have anything to do with the material, for example, getting up to use the bathroom during class.
She is a good teacher, but she assigns wayyyyy to much homework. I go to school full time and I easily spend more time on her homework than I do all of my other classes combined. I would pass on taking her unless you don't mind overwhelming amounts of homework EVERY week
I come from a Calc background and Stats doesn't come natural to me. She is an OK, teacher, if you don't have an assignment turn in on time you will get a ZERO. She takes points off for every little thing!! She is nice teacher, but kinda rude to people who have questions in class. Forget about getting help from her outside of Class!
Hateful professor. Assigns HW on a whim. She floods your email with announcements and last minute changes to the syllabus and homework. You can never plan ahead for her class because there are always last minute changes. Never returns emails and you cannot ask questions in class. Do not recommend.
DO NOT take this class. I'm a straight A student and am only maybe going to pass this class. I study and do all the homework but her teaching style is impossible to understand. She does not answer your questions and her office hours are not accommodating to students. Don't believe her rating, this class is impossible.
Professor Esposito is the most challenging instructor and person I have dealt at DePaul. You are expected and have to spend 70% of your time solely for this class for homework and quizzes each week. No bathroom breaks, no looking at cell phone which will get you excused from class. I strongly recommend that you don't take her as professor.
Terrible teacher doesn't answer questions very useless teacher
This woman doesn't answer questions in an explainable manner, and flat out refused to take questions on the wording of test questions. she used mymathlab to set hw and quizzes due at 10:00 before class and would change the deadline at like 6:00 that same morning. she also goes off on completely random tangents that throw the entire class off.
AVOID. Requires you to read the text (and pretty much learn everything) on your own time - but refuses to answer any questions on the material. Doesn't allow questions via e-mail or speech. Disregards the authors often and confuses each pupil thoroughly in the process. There's literally no way to do well because her teaching is ineffective
So bad this professor. she did not allow us to ans any questions about this course and questions anything. she had so many many homework that must finish. the quiz and exam so so hard. if you are normal student than give her up.
she is very picky...I am in college if I want to go to the bathroom I should be allowed to go she doesn't allow this. She CONSTANTLY contradicts the text and she likes things done her way and her tests are impossible. I am a full time student and I was unable to focus on other classes do to my homework load for her class. AVOID!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. She does not allow in class questions and the curriculum taught in class vastly differs from the online hw. I taught myself the entire class. She also tends to single people out during class and make the entire class feel uncomfortable. I got a B in a class that if taken with any other professor I would have got an A.
Professor Esposito was by the far the worst professor i have EVER had. Although she says theres no such thing as a stupid question, if you do built up the courage to ask a question she'll either not answer your question or demand to know if you were listening. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT TAKE HER.
Do NOT take her. She is very disorganized and hard to follow. She goes on random tangents and gets distracted easily. She makes constant mistakes on problems that she puts on the board. One or two errors is understandable, but multiple errors? Math is an exact science and as the professor, she should know how to do the problems. Avoid at all costs!
By far the worst math class ever. Very difficult grader and bad at helping out.
Unfortunately, Proffesor Esposito has been given the short end of the stick. She teaches & grades the way she is expected to by the school and doesn't give you much leeway. That said, pretty much every other math teacher gives enormous grade curves and tons of extra credit. She isnt one of those teachers and you have to work hard for your grade.
As a teacher she's fine, but assigns a ton of work. Personality-wise, I want to warn you: she is the closest thing to a real-life Umbridge that you will ever find. She talks to students like they're five and answers questions very condescendingly; she goes on a lot of tangents too. You'll pass her class, but you might not enjoy doing so.
I didn't like her. She was an okay professor, like she taught with good detail. But she was very strict (she'll kick you out for phone use, no laptops, if you don't turn in your homework in the first 5 minutes of class, you get no credit). She also personally got really rude and nasty with me, she was unprofessional with the whole situation.
I think she is a pretty good teacher. I'm in her class right now for a summer session. It is hard. Basically your getting a weeks worth of material in a day. You're going to get a lot of homework. I actually had to call off of work today so I could finish it... She does single people out, its not uncomfortable but i do feel bad for so of the kids.
Stay away! I could go on and on but pick someone else.
She literally did not accept one of my homework assignments because I didn't staple them together. She is strict, precise, and when even when you get the answer right, if you don't do it how she does it, then she takes points out. If you have to take MAT135, don't take it with her.
I did what was required of me and I got a good grade. However, she is not approachable, often made students embarrassed/anxious, and I felt that her behavior at times was immature. I did learn a lot in this course and I know some students absolutely hated her and some really liked her. My advice is take a different professor if you can.
kindest woman, horrible teacher. don't take her class. sorry carol.
I loved her class and her as a professor. Just follow her way and you will do just fine. I recommend taking her it is an easy A.
worst teacher of all time
The first thing you see when you enter this class is Esposito's extremely specific homework guidelines. If you don't follow these to a T, expect to get half or more of your points removed. In addition, her lectures are often disorganized messes with incorrect math frequently written on the board. She cares more for boosting her ego than teaching.
Put in the work and follow her format. Its not that hard people who complain dont put in the effort
Ms. Carole Is great human being and has amazing energy but I didn't understand directions exactly she would make me seem like i'm not putting in effort to try to understand what we are doing. Also if your test answers or quizzes are correct but it's not done exactly like her work it will marked wrong and Incorrect. Possibly you will fail
Most unqualified professor I have ever experienced in my college career. She does not allow questions during exams and consistently makes errors in lecture notes, study guides, and final exams. Involves politics far too often for a Calculus course.
Ms. Esposito was probably the worst professor and teacher I have ever had in my academic career. The lectures that she explains in class are often filled with mathematical errors that she does not seem to check over before class. She cares more about boosting her ego, than actually helping students get a good grade in the class. Don't recommend!!!!
She is an excellent professor if you do things exactly as she does, she offers ample opportunity to do well in her class. Has clear lecture notes, clear homework guides, and gives second chances. Just listen to what she says and you can literally get an A+ !! She's specific, but it helps you learn the material and do well on her exams.
Prof. Espostio is one of the toughest graders I've ever had. She will take points off for little things that you fail to do. She has a very specific way she wants things done, and if you don't do it that way she will mark you off. But, she is willing to help your grade. She always drops the lowest quiz and homework grades in order to help you pass.
Do yourself a favor and find a different professor to take this class with.
I took her online class because I had to due to COVID-19. She was very strict. I think if circumstances were different then maybe my learning experience with her would have been too.
Hands down one of the worst professors in her department. Lectures are boring af and shes rude to most students.
Okay so I didn't get the best grade in this class but I struggle A LOT in math. I actually took her for Business calc 1 and ended up learning a lot from her. She really cares about her students. The work however is hard and she is a TOUGH grader. She is super sweet and willing to help and honestly I would take her again.
Professor Esposito is EXTREMELY precise about what she wants out of her projects and work. The homework content is rarely covered in class and you often have to google answers. You only get to miss 2 class periods, after that you get points deducted from your grade. Expectations are clear, just make sure you do everything she says. EC sometimes.
Taking this class with her will 100% make you hate math. She goes on random tangents during lectures and constantly makes mistakes in lecture notes and instructions. She also gives an insane amount of homework that doesn't even help you understand the material.
Very hard grader and very nit-picky about projects. You might get 6 assignments per week, we never use the textbook but you still have to buy the e-textbook to do your hw. She is very loud, and can get angry very fast, no tech allowed in the class. She will take points off for using the bathroom. DO NOT TAKE THE 8 am class. Nightmare workload.
Her home work and exam was almost word for word the classwork. looking back at the assignments I noticed its the same problems. you need to participate attend all the lectures do the homework, excel projects, and quizzes because she does drop the lowest grades. In the beginning of the quarte she let everyone know that the classwork is all we need.
