Fantastic professor. Extremely nice and helpful. Almost all assignments are group projects so be prepared to participate.
Awesome professor, 10/10 would recommend. Easiest A you'll get, just do the work and follow the rubric. Other classes require the textbook and a bunch of quizzes and stuff but her class is basically just doing the group projects.
Absolutely first class teacher. Kind, considerate, humane. I've had the pleasure of taking both her EGR101 and Matlab courses, and haven't had a single complaint. I hope she starts teaching more classes so I can take them. Truly a wonderful professor I will never forget.
This class is tough, but this professor is extremely helpful. She is always available to help even during the weekend.
Professor Barriento was absolutely amazing and made all the assignments very clear. she helped all who needed it in and out of the class.
Professor Barriento is the best teacher I ever had she can convey difficult concepts so students can understand and she is very understandable and fair with grading. I wish more teachers were like her
This was my second time taking this class what a difference! Take professor Barriento if you want to learn Matlab
Fantastic professor, and a considerate and respectful person. One of the best teacher experiences I've had throughout my educational career. Would HIGHLY recommend.
She is the best teacher I have had at Embry-Riddle. Aside from her beauty she is fantastic at explaining things. She is a pretty easy grader. Also she will take the time to help her students pass unlike any other professor. She is always available and seriously cares about the student. Extra credit is a plus :). You are blessed to have her.
I didnt know anything about programming so this class was very difficult for me. Professor Barriento allows you to resubmit assignments to improve your grade if you submit before they are due and she is always avaialble to help outside class. You have to work for it but you learn a lot.
VERY clearly communicated what to do for projects. She provided outlines for group project technical reports, and all that had to be done was fill out the sections with information. The most difficult part of her class was working in a group that didn't want to work.
She let me audited her class. I needed to learn Matlab for one of my projects. I did learn and I would take a class with this professor if available for my curriculum.
Very fair professor who really cares about your learning. If you fail this class is because you didn't put the effort.
I had her for Intro to Engineering and when I saw she was teaching Intro to Computing I took the spot right away. She is a great professor. I would take any class she teaches.
This professor really cares about students and gives many opportunities to improve your grade she lets you resubmit but the group projects are sometime very annoying when working with people who procrastinate and you have to do most of the work
There are no exams and quizzes are online. The best I can say is that you can resubmit your assignments after she gives you feedback so you can improve your grade. Highly recommend
She is the G.O.A.T. Most caring professor I have ever had, hands down. Take her.
Great teacher! She gives very good feedback and lets you redo assignments. Class is project based so make sure you choose the right team members.
Awesome professor. Group projects are basically your grade in the class. The final project is very demanding including report, poster presentation and a competition but it was a good experience. Great class and teacher.
Dr. Barriento is extremely helpful and really cares about students succeeding in her class. She replies very quickly to emails and provides excellent feedback including a vry clear grading rubric for the reports. A+
Best professor ever!
Prof Barriento is awesome. Period.
Best teacher I had for this class. She takes the time to make sure students understand the material Very understanding and caring she gives many opportunities to improve your grade. she should be teaching all hard classes as she explains difficult material in a way easy to understand
This professor is fantastic, but the videos you have to watch are not. Homework load is acceptable i guess but class is too hard. She gives you lots of chances to improve your grade though. Overall this in an aweful class taought by a great teacher.
I have previous experience with programming so class can be slow at sometimes but if you have no experience whatsoever this is the right teacher for you.
Take her class, she is the best.
She is an amazing professor and works with you. If you put in the effort for this class you will pass for sure. She replies to emails super quick and is almost always available to help. She makes sure that you understand the material if you put in the effort. I passed class with an A with no programming experience. Take her for sure. :)
Very good professor and very caring human being, she honestly wants students to succeed.
Great teacher. Attendance is not mandatory and no book is required plus lectures are short and she makes the class enjoyable. She is super quick answering to emails too but this class should have a normal version as the hybrid version is not for everyone mostly when you don't know programming and the videos you have to watch are not very helpful.
The best of the best...I wish all teachers were like her. I just got a C because I was lazy. You will regret choosing the other programming teachers trust me brother
Best professor at Riddle. Homework load is a bit heavy, but she is always available for help. Exams are open book and notes. I learnt a lot and I will def take her again.
Professor Barriento is an amazing professor who truly cares about her students. She is clear on what you need to do and allows you to redo assignments for a better grade.
One of the highlights of my time at ERAU which is now coming to a close. If you can take her for anything, do it, you'll thank me later.
Carolina Barriento is a very knowledgeable professor in EGR 115, Homework in-class and out is super simple and can be done in about 5-15 minutes. Her exams are not as simple however there is a clear grading criteria and directions on what is required is given throughout so that you arent marked off for something that you didnt know was on the exam.
Prof Barriento is the most helpful prof ive ever had in and out od class. She really cares. Take her if you can.
Prof Barriento is super easy to talk to. She cares about every one of her students. She is open minded about assignments and helps any way she can. She does a lot of group projects but makes it fun and if there's a problem she is understanding and helps out. Highly suggest taking her class. I had her for EGR and looking forward to stats with her!
Dr Barriento is the most helpful teacher I had ever. She has office hours where you can get tutoring outside class, you can resubmit assignments after she gives you feedback on them and her exams are open book open notes. There homework load is kinda heavy but doable.
This professor is a superb human being. I owe it to her passing this class under the current crazy times we are living in. Cant recommend enough.
One of the best professors I had at this school. Plays a fine line between being lenient while also making sure you understand the material. Lets you resubmit corrected work for full credit as well, which motivates you to learn from your mistakes. She's also very responsive at replying to emails, which was very helpful during the COVID situation.
This is a professor with not only intelligence but also common sense. From the get go she had all class material posted online and a class calendar with all assignments scheduled for the whole semester, so the transition to exclusively online was seem less. However, the group project was a nightmare when having to work with people who disappeared
Professor Barriento goes above and beyond for her students. Her class was well structured and all the course materials were posted online even before Covid. She is easy to talk to and very understanding and responsive. She also gives you more time to complete your homework if you ask her. One of the best professors here at Riddle without a doubt.
I personally wouldn't take this class online again, because you will miss all the hands-on activities. I would take another class if she was the professor for it because she is a very good teacher.
Prof. Barriento is a great teacher, but do not take this class online. I don't even know why they offer this class online if most of the assignments are hands on project that can not be completed remotely??? She did what she could and it is not her fault but I feel I received half of the instruction that I should have received.
Professor Barriento was beyond fair and tried to make everyone pass, but this class was not easy (at least for me without previous programming experience). The project was 50% of the total grade, so do not procrastinate like me or your grade will be greatly affected . There were no exams this semester due to the covid situation which was nice.
Professor Barriento is friendly and helpful when teaching students about engineering. She has a minor Spanish accent but is easy to understand and puts all information in simple PowerPoints. The in class work is enjoyable and you get hands on experience in the four engineering fields at the school, automotive, robotics, energy, and health.
The way she describes assignments are not at all concise. She definitely knows her craft, though the way she explains what she wants for an assignment isnt always great, and when you ask for clarification, its treated as her having to repeat herself. Answers emails and questions very fast. Does not teach specific syntax too much.
I am always looking forward to her class. She is very patient with all questions and her lectures are easy to understand. She knows that her class is not the only class students are taking, and gives many opportunities for improvement.
A literal goddess and the best professor on this campus. She accepts late assignments and more than happy to help you out if you're struggling. The notes are all posted on the canvas page by topic and easily accessible. People who hate EGR 115 must not have taken Barriento... 100/10 person and prof.
This professor lets you learn at your own pace. This is the only class I can say I am not stressed about, and it is all because of her. She will stay after class and explain again if you didn't get it. She will not give you points unless you earn them, but you can resubmit as many times as needed. I hate programming but she makes it bearable.
Easiest A you can get. Just show up and collaborate on group projects. Most of the assignments are in class labs, and there are no tests.
Coding is hard; she understands that. She lets you turn in assignments late for full credit & you can resubmit to get a 100 every time. If you have questions, she responds pretty quickly and posts all of the notes online by section so you can find what you're looking for. Also a great, empathetic human being in general. Take her class!
Loved Prf. Barriento. She is kind and down to earth. She provided the textbook and all the materials required for the hands on projects. This is an easy class with no exams, super easy quizzes, few assignments, just 2 reports and 2 presentations. She is also very lenient about due dates. She made the transition to college a great one.
The best professor at this school. Lets you redo assignments & turn them in late for full credit (except the final of course). Very open for students and responds EXTREMELY fast. Take her class; you will not regret it.
I took statics with Professor Barriento during the pandemic when all the classes were moved to online. She is the best of both worlds. We need her to teach more classes here at Riddle.
I had a great experience in her programming class. She is an excellent teacher and gives you plenty of opportunities to learn and improve your grade by working with you at your own pace. It is hard to get into her class as it always fills up quickly so get yourself in waiting list and good luck.
I frankly think Prof.B. is awesome. She's as lovely a person as she is a professor. There are no exams and many chances to improve your work. The e is a design project which is 35% of your grade. The group you get is the most important thing. I got lucky with my team, but others messed up their grades because of this.
She was the only professor that had some humanity this semester. She was always available to answer questions even outside her scheduled office hours. She also posted all class notes online so if you had to miss class you could easily catch up. She was always trying to help students succeed. The group assignments were most difficult to coordinate.
If you know any programming language, especially Python or JS, this class will be a breeze. If you don't, you'll need to put some time into understanding the syntax of MATLAB. She gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit and grades leniently. Pay attention to her lectures - she works out examples in class that are similar to the homework.
Be prepared to work hard in this class if you don't have background in programming. There are 3 assignments per week plus optional practice which she counts as extra credit. She also lets you redo the assignments many times until you get them right. You will have a review day before each exam and your final will be a project of your choice.
Without a doubt, one of the best professors I've ever had. Perfect combination of theory and practice. I didn't need to watch the online videos, but the use of the matlab help menu was helpful. Use her office hours to stay on track with the class. It's not easy to catch up if you fall behind.
Instead of spending time in the beginning of the course learning how to use power tools that were required for the future project, we spent it managing our classes. We were also expected to be able to do a PHY 250 worksheet while still freshman. Barriento is a great coding professor, not so much EGR 101.
Easiest class you'll ever take. If you get anything less than A and need a lesson in power tools then you should change majors, bro
Best EGR115 professor! EGR115 is a quite challenging class for people with no background in coding (me). However, Dr. Barriento was able to make the class easy and enjoyable through her lectures. Would definitely take again.
Dr. Barriento loves teaching and it shows. She gladly stayed in the classroom even when her office hours had already passed to help me when I needed it. Her dedication to her job and her students is exeptional.
Professor Barriento did an great job with how she organized the course content for EGR115. The lectures were informative and relevant to the homework, making homework a breeze. Instructions on some homework assignments could sometimes be vague, making it difficult to code in the desired way, but good feedback is given on assignments.
This was a great introduction class for coding, you learn a lot more than in the other EGR-115 classes and Prof. Barriento makes it easy.
Dr. Barriento was always available to help and was very patient with me. This was my first coding class and I was struggling with the concepts. I don't think I could have finish the course without her help. If you have never coded before, take this professor.
Very lecture heavy class. Assignments are easy. Do the work and you'll ace the class. Very helpful on final project.
If you go to class and do all the homework you will pass this class with ease. The exams are just like the homework and you can use your notes. I did not need to watch any of the videos because she is an excellent teacher and her lectures were enough to me. Also there is no textbook requirement.
Great teacher! She is also FINE, easy 10 fr. Makes learning fun
Very easy class because this professor is the most understanding person. I fell behind and she helped me to catch up with a smile on her face. I would have withdrawn but instead I got an A. She's the best.
Well-rounded prof for newbies and experienced programmers alike. Explains every unit, especially the difficult ones, in a manner that is easy to understand and incorporate into your code. Very lenient test policy, all open notes, and offers extra credit throughout the semester. Highly recommend.
She knows how to simplify complex concepts and is very enthusiastic about engineering. She also takes the time to know each student and gives advice not just on school stuff but also on personal and career. Gets that life can get messy, and her flexibility and support when things get rough really help out. Totally has your back when you need it.
Professor Barriento was an amazing teacher! I am in mechanical engineering, and she is very knowledgeable about many things. She was kind and helpful. The assignments were sometimes difficult, and the lectures were sometimes long and unhelpful. However, she truly wants you to do well in her class, so you can make up assignments and do extra credit.
Prof. Barriento is an amazing professor. Extremely kind and will go miles out of her way to help you. For EGR 101 (mechanical engineering) most of the class was a group project designing Halloween animatronics. there were also a lot of lessons in different aspects of mechanical engineering.
I truly enjoyed intro to engineering with this professor. In her class we actually get to build stuff, not just sketching designs on paper like others. She has project ideas for you but she also lets you choose anything you want. We also had a competition at the end. I never built anything in my life so I learned a lot and she was kind and patient.
Very quick to respond to questions and very supportive and understanding but be aware that this class is not easy. It took me much more time than my other classes to study and to submit homework on time. Very flexible with the due dates helped
Dr Barriento is the most caring and compassionate professor. She is always willing to help you and wants you to succeed. You have to be a mechanical engineering major to take her class.
Great professor, down to earth, super helpful both in and outside of class. She has clear rubrics in all homeworks and exams that she provides ahead of time, and is very flexible with the due dates. She also gives you different options to complete assignments according to your programming experience.
She was such a good teacher! I came in with little coding experience so I was worried but she was very good about teaching. You could tell that she really understood the material and gave great comments. She helped me whenever I needed it and let us have notes to use on our tests. Not only is she a good teacher she is a very caring person.
This was my favorite class this semester.
Prof Barriento is extremely nice and always answers questions in-class. The class is not extremely difficult and many times she walks you through the assignments during class time. She isn't a tough grader but she is strict on her guidelines, so as long as you pay attention to the examples and guides she gives, you'll do fine. Final is a project.
Great professor and great class.
Prof. Barriento will not only teach you but also let you be as creative as you can be. No matter your experience with the course topics she will provide the right support that you need. The textbook is free pllus this class has no exams. The group project is 30% of your grade.
Professor Barriento was an amazing professor to have for my first engineering course. She was always very clear about her expectations for us and always willing to help. Don't be afraid to go to office hours if you need extra help, she's always willing to give her students all the resources she can to ensure that they succeed, you just need to ask.
She tries very hard to help you when you are struggling and she is a very nice person. The class is easy, but I had to work with a team that did not want to do much. One never showed up to meetings, other didnt contribute any significant ideas, and the other spent most of the time playing video games on his phone. I ended up doing most of the work.
Very easy professor, extremely nice and kind. Easy A of a class as long as you do the work, she allows extensions on a lot.
Great professor, will help you through all your questions. Great accessibility outside class. Fair share of homework. The last exam you take, Lock in, its tough. 70% average. For loops
Caring professor, very helpful and understanding. Clear grading criteria and able to make corrections. Plenty of extra credit options.
You can just pay attention in class and you will not need to watch any of the videos. The exams are just like the homework and she always does a review day the class before. Easy A
I would highly recommend Prof. Barriento. Very supportive (Offered to help out with coding for the group project, wasn't needed but offer was highly appreciated), generally nice professor.
She is skilled and very organized with her work, and she is very open to office hours, tutoring, and feedback. Please see the tutor and her hours to get the best out of your grade. You might need to learn before taking the class, since it's a little hard to grasp functions, but overall, very fun.
Professor Barriento is the most caring professor I had at Riddle. She understands students are taking other classes besides hers and always give you a chance to improve your grade. I am glad I took her class even though it is late in the day. Her office hours are in the classroom so you can stay after class to get help.
Professor Barriento is the most genuine, caring professor you will ever have. She constantly checks in with the class to make sure everyone is on the same page, she'll always give extensions if you reach out and is very understanding. She's always looking for ways to make her class better but there's honestly nothing to improve.
Amazing professor but a terrible class. She made it better though.
