The professor is really nice and is understanding. The class load is A LOT. You will get 5 to 7 assignments in a week along with a few labs. just one assignment can take anywhere from 6 to 8 hours! I had to make sacrifices and cut hours from my job and I am still having a hard time in the class.
Microbiology is a really hard class but the homework load was insane, 100 + smart book CONCEPTS not questions per assignment. I would not recommend you take this as a summer class because it will literally consume you. Lectures were by another professor so it was hard to understand what would be on the test, she was open for office hours !
Professor Rojas has been extremely helpful in the midst of an upper level science class over the course of 8 weeks. This class has been dificult, but microbiology is difficult period. If you schedule office hours and give it your best effort she is willing to open up assignments that are past due to finish them. She does want to see you succeed.
Studying BIOl 2420 in 8 weeks on Spring semester will be difficulty because we will have extremely lecture heavy and a lots of homework you have to do on Connect. But if you read the lecture carefully and did the homework, you will get okay to this class. Gives a lot of extra credit.
Very difficult class to take in an 8wk Summer semester. There is A LOT of course connect material from 5-7 assignments per week; one assignment can take up to 10hrs. Don't have a job, you won't be able to manage the course workload. Gives extra credit & is accessible via email or by web-ex when scheduled. Works with you, she wants you to succeed.
Nice professor who really care's about making sure students have the chance to pass with the use of extra credit opportunities (more than 1) and through opening assignments you may have missed. Also responds very quickly to messages. However, there's lots of reading and long Connect assignments, so the class takes a lot of time. Definitely passable
Professor Rojas is a very caring person and she really want you to succeed.
Overall the class is simple as along as you study and are determine to pass! The homework such as the concepts were a bit too much and can be overwhelming so I would suggest to start early and finish them before the deadline. She is a caring teacher and does care about your grades therefore, extra credit comes along.
I feel as if the course is very straight forward, but it is very self initiated. You have to have a lot of self discipline for this class.
You have to make sure your keeping up with the work and the due dates but aside from that, its a good class
This was a tough class for me. I am taking 3 classes within an 8 week period and I missed my first exam due to a mix up with the dates. I emailed the professor and explained to her what happen about missing the exam and was given the opportunity to take the exam past the due date. She also gives opportunity for extra credit and study sessions.
Professor Rojas , explain very well what you need to do . She gives you opportunities to improve grade. Get ready to complete assignments on time.
I have taken two microbiology courses, and I much preferred this one. Although the course is fast paced and a large time commitment weekly, there are plenty of grades so doing poorly on some of them does not affect you too much. Dr. Rojas truly wants her students to succeed, she is pretty flexible with due dates, and gives extra credit opportunties
Professor Rojas works to try and help students in any way she can. This course is memorization heavy and you will need to have the time to put forth the work. The study materials for the exams arent as helpful and dont rely on the HW questions to help study for the exams either. Reach out to Professor Rojas for more study resources if needed.
Professor is very caring and helpful. She gives you many ways to be successful in her class
Professor Rojas is a solid choice. She is kind and understanding; although the tests are hard and long. There are lab practical's and exams. Lots of homework on mylab. I wished there was less textbook question assignments and more projects or other type of assignments. She will not stand for any form of cheating so really study. Hard class overall!
She gives a lot of homework but it does help you when reading to answers the questions it helps you actively study. the class is hard but any biology class is hard. She gives extra credit at the end which helps a lot. study her reviews. she is available outside of class. I wouldn't take again bc the amount of hw was too much and i was taking 6 clas
This was honestly the hardest class I have ever taken in my life. Physics made me cry me but this class honestly killed me. This class was the literal bane of my existence. Get ready to read and do pretty much all research for outside sources to study with on your own. I should have read more reviews. Hindsight is 20/20. Not to be rude but dont.
This course was overwhelming, too much homework with not enough time to study for exams.
Heavy Homework on McGraw-Hill, if you're taking other classes this can be really tough to keep up with.
This class was one of the hardest I've taken. Professor Rojas recommended that you spend 2-3 hours a day studying for this class. I was averaging 4 hours a day and still struggled to learn all the material. There is a lot of homework assignment, but she does grant extensions sometimes.
she is a great teacher overall and helps out a lot.
This is a difficult class with a lot of work/studying.
Professor Rojas is ver organised in what she teaches. This course does include a lot of reading, homework and tests but then again you also learn so much if you take Microbiology. She does email back very quick if you have nay questions or concerns regarding any material or Exams. I would say take this class if you require a Microbiology class.
She does a great job with providing many outside resources but does not take the time to teach students herself which I wish she did. She told us to take 2-3 hours a day to study but it is hard to do these assignments, while taking other classes, when each one takes around 4 hours alone. If you stay on top of your work though, you can earn a B easy
Professor Rojas does not email back. There have been times that I have had questions prior to exams and get no response until multiple emails are sent. I do not think this is fair as she does not hold any type of lecture via zoom, ect. You have no opportunities to ask for help!
A good professor who was strait forward about the degree of difficulty of the class from the beginning. Microbiology took a lot of study time. Really too much for someone like me working 50 plus hours a week. I wish I really had the chance to devote the kind of time it takes to this class.
Prof Rojas offers many chances for you to be successful. Thankfully this was the only class I took but the hw assignments were VERY long! Test reviews are not as helpful. But she does offer extra credit. The recommended 2-3 hours of studying for this course is definitely not enough but if you do the bare minimum you can easily earn a B.
The problem is not the difficult content, it is the structure of the class. Homework questions: 800-1,000 questions per chapter (maybe more-absolutely absurd for a HW grade) + labs Exams: 30 page exam reviews do not help narrow down what you should be studying for a 50 question exam. If you care about your GPA, take someone else!
Prof Rojas was great and understanding. Her class has a lot of homework but she gives extra credits.
great teacher!! just lots of homework and reading be prepare to take your time with this class
This class is difficult if you are not prepared to take a book/reading intensive class. Mine was online, and the format was McGraw Hill Connect homework (usually about 150-200 concepts each!), as well as online labs, and 4 exams. Professor Rojas is extremely nice and understanding, and very responsive, and amazing 100% and gives extra credit.
Professor Rojas is very understanding and willing to work with you if you have trouble in this class. We all know Microbiology isn't the easiest class so don't come thinking it will be a walk in the park. This class requires that you do STUDY to get the best out this class.
This professor really does care about her students succeeding. She offers quite a bit of room for you to improve your grade if you put in the work. I took this course online in an 8-week session, so it was very time consuming on top of already hard content. She is willing to help if you are willing to work!
This class is ridiculous, 10-20 hours of homework a week, after lab simulations. She does give lots of opportunity for extra credit, but you don't really have time for any of it with the workload. You don't have time for anything else, especially if you already work a full-time job. Take this class over 16 weeks, not 8 weeks and it might be better.
I took this course over an 8 week period and just be ready to complete lots of homework and have no social life. Assignments for the week range from 10-18 hours, and that's not including labs and studying. The tests are really hard and she gives out reviews that are pages long. Our lecture review for our second test was 50 pages!
Microbiology is very challenging even more so when it's online and an 8 week course. Even if it's interesting to learn about prepare to do lots of homework and reading with no social life if you have a job on top of school. If you have great time management you can make it but if you don;t it would be better to take a 16 week course!
Professor Rojas is a great teacher and dearly cares that you do well. She responds fairly quickly to emails and gives a fair amount of homework. I took her 8 week course so it was typically 4-5 hours of homework and studying. Her tests are lockdown browser + webcam but they are really easy if you are on top of everything.
Just like any other science course, it is very time intensive especially within 8 weeks online. Professor Rojas is willing to work with you and offers extra credit thankfully! Stay on top of the weekly assignments and study your butt off (3-4 hrs daily) and youll do ok. Exams are completed using lockdown browser and a webcam.
Professor Rojas is very caring and truly wants her students to do well. Her class is extremely time consuming though so if youre working/ kids/ other classes you should reconsider the 8 week class. She does offer lots of extra credit and is very responsive.
Professor Rojas, gives plenty of chances for extra credit and reopens assignments for you to complete after the deadline. She is good at responding to emails/text. Given that there is a ton of homework assignments, you have to spend time daily. It's not a good class to take if you work full time, or a parent, or taking other classes. You must focus
Very intensive class but thats any science course. Professor Rojas gives a lot of extra credit so take advantage of it. Also if your taking other classes while taking this course reconsider that if you can! Its a lot of work. Also lockdown and webcam is required for exams.
I took this class online in 8 weeks. To echo what the other comments are saying, this class is a heavy workload. There is lots of reading and practice questions. However, I didn't find it any "heavier" than any of my other condensed science or nursing classes. As long as you put in effort Professor Rojas will help you out as much as she can.
She's a great professor, and the class itself is very interesting however the work load is very heavy for this class. you have to dedicated at least 6-9 hours a week for this class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS AS AN 8 WEEK CLASS IF YOU HAVE OTHER CLASSES, FULL-TIME JOB, OR CHILDREN! This class is has a tremendous amount of work that can be overwhelming, on the other hand if you email her she will try to work with you. She does offer extra credit as well and is overall a very nice person but there is an extremely heavy workload.
Took this course during the 8-week session. Working full-time, this class is very time consuming! Class is not particularly hard, just a LOT of work-sometimes unnecessary busy work. The professor, however, is very caring, accommodating, and will provide extensions in dire circumstances. Communication is key and MANY opportunities for extra credit.
Absolutely do not take her class if you take a full course load or work full-time! Although the class is kinda easy if you study, she still gives you a lot of busywork, but she'll work with you by offering extra credit. The homework is easy, but it takes forever to do on the McGraw-Hill website.
Provide study materials including videos. Very strict with deadlines. SA very effective communicator.
Overall, A good professor. This course is very homework heavy. The connect courses are really lengthy and the homework varies. Some weeks you could receive a couple labs and a connect assignment with 80 concepts. However, then there is some weeks where you could receive 8 labs and 3 connect assignments with an accumulated amount of 600 concepts.
Dr. Rojas was very accessible and communicated well when I needed her assistance. I took her Micro class 100% online. She provided lengthy assignments with PLENTY of time to complete them. REVIEW and STUDY for the exams! Don't let the negativity of other reviews discourage you from enrolling. You have to be diligent with your time to succeed.
So, I am currently taking this class and it is safe to say this is the worse class I've ever taken. She does not teach, this class is 100% self -taught, and the workload is ridiculous. I only recommend this class if you literally have nothing else to do. Does she offer extra credit? Yes, but you will not have time to do it, not good with emailing.
Even though this is an online science class, I believe every student would benefit from some form of online zoom lecture activities- this is not offered. One thing I can say is- that there are extra credits. I am grateful to complete this course. Not much communication from the professor, except for an email regarding: content due.
I wouldn't recommend this class. I don't think Microbiology is hard but this class is a complete overload of assignments. No lectures just connect assignments that can be 6+ hours to complete sometimes you can have 4 in a week. You have to OVER study for each and every exam. I didn't retain any information at all. Limited communication outside work
This class is definitely not something you can jump into lightly especially if you are doing other classes. The connect assignments are 200-550 concepts every week/ about 8 hrs. She is a nice professor as far as asking questions, but her teaching style didn't favor my learning style. This class is basically all textbook learning. Hardest class taken
This class will require a lot if not all your time. Microbio itself is a tough class let alone it being an online version. Professor Rojas gives out a lot of Connect assignments that can range from 2-6hrs. If you have a job, family, or other classes this will clash with those. Reviews or other "helpful" material were not of use to me during exams.
Work overload! If you're only taking this course and nothing else you may get by, but believe me you will be burned out by the end. Homework and study guides don't align with the exams. She gives a good amount of extra credit that could save you by a whole letter grade.
This is a class you're going to have to work really hard. It's completely self taught and all assignments are from McGraw Hill. So if you don't like that type of set up I would not recommend this class to you.
She is a great professor, just stay on top of your work. She also gives extra credit at the end of the semester and you could get an extra 20 points if you do all of the extra credit.
Lecture clear to understand, have a review exam, a lot of homework but easy to get more extra credit. Easy pass if you focus on this class.
Professor Rojas, is a great professor to have! She is attentive and wants all her students to succeed in the class. There is a lot of reading required but she provides mock quizzes and extra credit to help!
Professor Rojas is very attentive and wants all the students to succeed, she is very easy to communicate with. She provides everything you need and more to succeed in her class. She provided extra credit and also quizzes to practice for upcoming exams.
The class was very challenging, but t I overcame the obstacle. the prepare to do lots of reading and lots of homework, no time to mess around. Ms. Carolina is very lenient because if she sees that you are struggling, she will email you and have a one on one with you so that you can do better in her class. She even gives extra credits.
Professor Rojas was a great instructor. Overall would recommend for Microbiology but remind you it is a lot of homework through McGrawHill Connect.
Professor Rojas understands the difficulty of this course so she assigned a lot of homework through McGraw Hill Connect in order for us to get a better understanding on each chapter. She is very organized and almost immediately will respond to your emails.
Dr. Mantilla Rojas is a great professor, All the Homework are really long, working FT and finding enough time to finish all the homework is challenging. Exam is really hard and tough grader. I love all study materials. Overall, I enjoy this taking this class and would take it again to get better grade. Thank you for all you do Dr. Mantilla =)
Professor Rojas is a great teacher and understanding. She wants her students to succeed so if you have issues she will answer and help. I took the online class and does assign a lot of homework just be sure to time manage it. The class is a lot of work, but she provides many opportunities for extra credit!
Professor Rojas is excellent! She gets back to you right away when you reach out to her. The smartbook chapter assignments are pretty heavy and can be up to 400+ questions and can be draining. The online labs are very fun to do. The tests are around 50 questions, but if you study you can get a good grade. She does provide extra credit.
Professor Rojas is very caring. She wants her students to succeed. The homework is very long, it can take about 4-8 hours to complete. The class is hard but she does provide extra credit opportunities.
(8wk course) Be prepared to READ and set aside time. The exams are tough, truly- the course itself is tough. Beyond this, professor Rojas gives ample opportunity for extra credit to help you boost up your grade, she also responds fairly quickly to emails + and cares. Proctored tests, so this is a heads up for those with testing anxiety.
Class was not crazy difficult for an 8 week online course, but it is very very heavy and you do need to put in work everyday if you want to pass the tests. She does follow her syllabus and the grading system is clear. She does give lots of extra credit opportunities in order to bring up your grade as well.
Hard and awful
This course was Incredibly difficult. She uses a lot of different media, all from different sources making it even harder. This professor gives no emphasis on what should be focused on and gives extremely limited extra credit. In the first meeting, she said "Don't expect to pass the first exam, everyone does awful." This is true for all exams.
The professor provides a lot of media such as text books, videos, power points, and reviews. This course is very difficult and have a lot of topics that need to be covered. I would highly suggest taking this course for a full term rather 8 weeks. The exams are extremely thorough and specific. Exams determine whether you pass or fail and are hard.
Exams are way too hard. Too much information to remember all at once. Exams count for 70% of your grade.
Caring professor who wants her students to do well. Biol2420 in the summer semester is super difficult but she gives her students the tools to succeed and does offer some extra credit
carolina Rojas is a good Professor.
Professor Rojas was great! She was quick to respond to any questions, was well organized, and offered a lot of extra credit opportunity. This class is a short 8 week class and has a lot of work each week. Make sure you consider the workload with your other classes. Tests and quizzes are hard but as long as you take time to study you'll be fine.
Professor Rojas is a WONDERFUL professor and she works with her students to guarantee success in the course. You must take initiative in your learning and she will definitely provide you with the tools for success. Starting assignments EARLY is a must and in the 6/8 week courses, be proactive in the completion of assignments through Connect.
This professor gives a lot of connect assignments but they are important for the exams. She is very caring and checks up on her students if she sees that they might be falling behind. With that being said, don't hesitate to ask for help if need be and she also offers a lot of extra credit so don't overwhelm yourself too much in the beginning.
This professor was unorganized and the exams were unpredictable. It took a long time for her to reply to my questions. The extra credit was very helpful. I would not recommend this class.
Very involved class. Professor Rojas answers email promptly and sticks to her appointments and is clear and precise. I just can't get used to the McGraw Hill question set 100 concepts turn into 300. There is a lot of work and information so prepare your self. The test are a little vague. Hope to make it through. Thank you Professor Rojas.
goodluck
Professor Rojas was an awesome professor! She is very understanding and wants her students to succeed. Even when she was sick she still emailed her students back. There is a lot of work in this course but it is very manageable. I'm not sure why there are bad reviews because this was the most easygoing professor I've had in a while. Best prof ever!!
Ive never had to work so hard to barely pass an exam. She does not respond via email in a reasonable time. Tests have spelling errors throughout. Tests pull info from numerous sources which sometimes contradict each other. The attached lectures are youtube videos shes found but never of her. 0/10. Do not take.
Professor Carolina Rojas is an amazing professor. She is very understanding and straight to the point. Offers a ton of studying material and extra credit! Highly recommend this professor!
I took an online 8wk asynchronous class that was nonstop. She is absolutely fair in her grading, and gives you every opportunity to do better: extra credit, curves tests, had an open book exam. It is a LOT of material and you need to make sure you are focused to take this class. Tough class, but she is amazing at working with you to succeed.
Professor Carolina Rojas is such an intelligent educator. I really did learn a lot in this class. She motivated me by giving me great feedbacks about previous assignments, which helped boost my confidence in her assignments. Just beware there will be ALOT of reading and labs, so please use time management. I definitely recommend her class.
This class is very time consuming due to the load of assignments. If you are a single parent I advice to only take this class for the semester to allow time to study since it requires a lot of your time. The professor does respond very fast and provides extra credit. She is understanding of obstacles you might encounter and works with you.
This class consist of a lot of homework so please only take this class per semester. The professor does respond in a timely manner and provides extra credit. She is understanding and will work with you to succeed.
I took the 8 week course with Professor Carolina Rojas. I do not regret taking it. This is very difficult class. Well worth it though. You can complete this class with a high score as long as you participate and pay attention to detail. Stay on task and complete material required. Read syllabus carefully. Do tutoring and ask question.
LOTS of material in 2420. 8 wks is GRUELING. Tests are HARD, but she curves. Caring and considerate professor who wants you to succeed. No job, no kids, no responsibilities, and I studied 10-12 hours a day. I had no life. That's how I made an A. If you can't grind it out, then take the full semester. You'll thank me.
Prof Rojas is a really good professor! She is great on keeping up to make sure you are on track. Her tests are pretty hard but study the materials and you will do good. She offers extra credit and puts it towards your lowest exam grades which is super nice. Her calendar is great and she stays on track with it so there is nothing hidden.
I took and 8 week semester, it is a hard class to pass, and time consuming. There is a lot of homework to be done, the tests are hard, but the professor gives you all the material to succeed. There is opportunity for extra credit, and she responds promptly to emails.
Prof Rojas is very caring. This course covers a lot of material so be ready to read.
8 week class. 6 hours of homework daily. Doesnt include reading text, watching video lectures, reviewing ppts, reviewing other outside resources, or studying for exam! NONE of the homework is on the exams. VERY LITTLE of ppts/lecture videos are on exams. NONE of the Socrative is on exams. Her lab exam ppts are exactly like the lab practical
She is amazing, she always find the easiest way for us to get everything done, she is always available and so understandable, she is good and fair when grading assignments and test. Gives enough time for each assignment and test. I will for sure recommend her and I will take as many classes as I can with her.
She is amazing, she always find the easiest way for us to get everything done, she is always available and so understandable, she is good and fair when grading assignments and test. Gives enough time for each assignment and test. I will for sure recommend her and I will take as many classes as I can with her.
If you see this message take this professor! Like really go ahead and pick her. she is willing to help when you reach out the assignments are unlimited so as long as you do good on your exams youll get an A easy and if you dont be prepared to do extra credit but youll get it!!
You will have a lot of work every week and you will be studying at all times if you want to pass her class.
Professor Rojas was amazing. This was one of the last classes I had to take before finishing at LoneStar and I'm so glad I chose her. Don't hesitate, she's extremely caring and responds to messages/emails very quickly. She really cares about her students.
This is a very difficult class. Taking this as a 8 week course with other classes and working was a bit stressful as there is a lot of material to cover. The professor is super caring, she responds to emails fast and does everything she can to help you succeed in this course.
You will spend more than 4 hours a day for this class if you want an A. The study guides are not good reflections of what will be tested. Professor Rojas is awesome though, and she wants to help you pass the class and provides good amount of extra credits. She's very caring and easy going, but the class will be challenging so bring your A game.
Professor Rojas cares about her students and provides multiple extra credit opportunities. She is great at responding to emails and providing clear deadlines for assignments. I took this as an 8-week course. It was challenging and had lots of material in a short period, but properly reviewing the PowerPoints and exam reviews helped.
This course was online and involved a lot of homework and a lot of reading. It was average for an online science course. You do the homework and read and you get the gist. The test reviews are not particularly helpful but there are extra credit opportunities.
I took this professor for 8 weeks and I really enjoyed her class. Although it was very heavy due to it being so much information to cover in such a short amount of time, she made it easier and gave us opportunities to make up for it! On top of that, she gave us extra credit opportunities that helped a lot. I would take her again!
The class is really difficult, it is harder than it should be. The assignments provided are time-consuming, however, some of the questions on assignments will prepare you for the exam. Don't rely on the reviews she provides for exams, they will not help. If anyone plans to take BIOL2420 with this professor don't take it as an 8-week.
This course was very difficult. However, it was very organized and there are many oportunities. There are a lot of homework assignments at the beggining of the week but you have about to week to finish them. Be prepared to read alot. There is alot of information to cover so I dont recommend that you take other courses or work during this class.
Professor Rojas is really great with communication, anouncements and updates, however I do not reccomend taking the 8 week because the amount of material being covered is overwhelming (I work nearly 30 hours a week and take other classes). In order to succeed in the class, you must dedicate time to reviewing. There is also extra credit as well.
Wonderful Teacher!!! she is very understanding and make the class a little simple but there is a lot of work to it. As long as you are student who really cares about education you should do totally fine in this class
Mrs Rojas is honestly a good professor. She offers a ton of extra credit opportunities, and you can tell she wants you to succeed. However, this course is exceptionally difficult. The homework does not translate to the material tested at all, and the tests are webcam on lockdown browser, no going back super difficult. I would not take this again.
Good professor overall. She does curve tests and also gives lots of extra credit opportunities. Tests are hard but if you read and do the assigned hw on time you can pass with a high grade.
She's a great teacher, she gives you all the material you will need for exams, you do have exams about every other week but she gives you time to study. She will work with you as long as you email her in advance, as well as extra credit, this class is a bit tough but pretty easy at the same time.
I took this class online as an 8-week course class. This class was tough but it's a lot to cover in microbiology in such a short period of time so be ready to read and dedicate a lot of time to studying but overall, I would take her as a professor again. she responds to emails quickly and gives you everything you need to study for exams.
Carolina is a great professor that provides many resources and extra credit! However, I do not recommend you take her 8-week course. The homework is daunting. For reference, I would spend 4-5 hours on a single chapter. We would have 2-4 chapters per week... including the labs. If you don't mind, then take her class!! An A is achievable!!!!
I was very impressed by the level of care she has for all her students. She sends out a weekly email every week to lets us know what is going on exactly. She gives extra credit. She makes everything plain. In most cases, she emails you back in a timely fashion. She answers every question you have. Overall, a great professor! Online class cuddos!
This class was hard and had a lot of work to cover over the 8 weeks required. The SmartBook assignments will take about 3-4 hours to complete. 4 Lexture Exams and 2 Lab Exams with WEBCAM. You're going to have to put about 20-24 hours per week into this class if you're taking a 8 week session, but a B is possible. LOL good luck everyone!
Professor Rojas is one of those professors that wants you to leave her class more knowledgeable. So no, the class is not easy especially if taking an 8-week course. I received my first B in college in her class, but if you really put in the time and effort you can succeed.
I recommend not taking this class as an 8 week course. There is a lot of material and it goes by pretty quickly. There is a lot of weekly assignments so it helps your grade. Exams 3 and 4 are open note/book if everyone follows the guidelines. She provides a lot of extra credit so that definitely helps.
Professor Rojas, is very strait straightforward. I took her 8 weeks class Online and its was very flexible for me to do my assignments. The assignments that you have to take for her class were: McGraw Hill Connect Assignments which is 30%, 4 exams and 2 Lab practical, and a final. She will, of course, give you extra credit. I would take her again.
Professor Rojas is a very good professor, she is very caring and she is very communicative. The class is too much but she gives extra points. The exams are LockDownBrowser and she let us use the book on some of the exams. I will definitely take this professor again.
make sure you have at least 2-4 hours daily in this class.
The class is not too difficult but there is a lot of material to go over in 8 weeks. Be prepared to read. There's multiple weekly assignments that help increase your grade. Two of the exams are open note if all guidelines are met. Professor Rojas also offers extra credit, and she responds pretty quickly if you reach out to her.
I took this as an 8 week course & I feel that this was very fair and not unreasonably difficult. Lots of HW & reading as expected but manageable with daily time dedicated. The professor regularly expresses that she just wants you to succeed. She gives extra credit opportunities and is easy to contact. I am glad I chose Dr Rojas for this course.
I took this course as an 8 week fast track course. The exam reviews Professor Rojas provided definitely helped me when it came down to exams. She constantly sends emails and updates to make sure we are doing okay and keep us updated on what we will be focusing on that week.
good professor
Professor Rojas online course was very organized and well prepared week by week. professor gives extra credit through tutor services and responds promptly to all emails. Professor Rojas is very understanding and answers all questions and concerns regarding assignments and test.
Dr. Rojas was great at communication and an encouraging professor as it was an 8 week intensive. she provides opportunities for extra credit that actually help you in understanding the material. hard class tho I will say
Professor Rojas is overall great and provides extra credit opportunities that end up helping you understand the material better. recommend the teacher but hard class especially in an 8 week intensive
Professor Rojas is very kind and responds quickly to emails. She offers extra credit which is really helpful. Her lectures consist of videos recorded by a different professor which is fine but it can be confusing as to what to focus on for exams because there is so much material. She cares for student's success but the course is time-consuming.
She is a nice professor and is also accessible but her lectures can be a bit difficult. It is hard to know what exactly to study and there can be questions not covered before. It is a lot of material. However, she offers extra credit which helps your grade.
It was an easy-going class, just keep on top of reading and homework assignments. Professor Rojas is pretty responsive and helpful and she gives lots of extra credit opportunities. My biggest complaint would be the homework assignments as they are very long, be sure to start these and all homework ahead of time.
Pretty straightforward class. Assignments are due on Sunday's but I would suggest starting them early because the smartbook assigments are long. Offers extra credit!
Great professor
Professor Rojas means business! I took this in an online 8 week course. It's not a terribly hard class per say, however, due dates can get away from you very fast. As long as you listen to the lectures, and put in the effort you'll be fine. What you need to know for the tests is super straight forward as she gives you a review for each test.
Micro is difficult as a regular course, with that being said doing it as an 8 week course is doable. Exams are tough and the work load between daily labs and assignments can be overwhelming so set time aside for those. Extra-credit opportunities are given. Take detailed notes because 2/4 exams are open note/book.
This class is difficult due to the amount of information needed to learn and memorize in a 8 week course. First two exams were curved 10 points and last two were open book. She offeres a lot of extra credit which helped, i'm not the smartest or most gifted student and I was able to get a B with a lot of studying and the help of the extra credit.
This was an extremely difficult course. I was clearly not prepared for. I took this in a minimester and I would recommend to any student to take the full course! I have struggled with retention. There is alot of reading, work, and extra credit available. Work hard, and get it done.
I took this class as an 8 week online course. I knew going into it that it was going to be difficult with all of the information in such little time. Dr. Rojas gives lots of information and resources. I think the grading is fair. Be ready to read and take good notes. If you do so, you will do okay in the class.
One of the most responsive professors I've ever had. She was amazing and provides lots of feedback and help.
This professor is great, class requires lots of studying and focus.
Professor Rojas is a great teacher. I was worried taking this class in such a short amount of time especially because it is such a difficult course. Microbiology is not everybody's cup of tea, but Professor Rojas provides you with all the resources you need to get through this class. I would recommend this Professor.
I owe this professor my life. Micro was the last class I needed in order to graduate and I took it at the lowest point in my life. Not to mention this was an 8-week online course but it was the only available after I had to drop my original class. I never thought I would pass but Professor Rojas was understanding and helpful the entire time.
This class is manageable but it is A LOT of work. Most of the work is smartbook assignments and labs on Connect. Exams are difficult, you have to really be ready to read and study for this class. She is always available to answer questions and she provides a lot of extra credit opportunities. Great professor overall.
I took this class in 8 weeks therefore it was intense however you can do it! ALOT of homework as expected for a 8 week course. Professor does give extra credit opportunities. If you do the work you will do well.
Professor Rojas provided a variety of study/reading aids. The homework inside of the Connect assignments are heavy and take a long time to complete, but are straight forward. The powerpoints and youtube videos were spot on. She offers multiple ways to earn extra credit, openbook opportunities, and Exam reviews.
She was great by providing the lecture PowerPoints and also audio lectures. I took the course fully online in a 8 week course. Very intense course but do able with time management. She provided a lot of opportunity for extra credit. she was caring and understand with assignment deadline. She was also available to help if needed.
The professor is very caring, responds on time, and is considerate to her students. She gives a lot of extra credit to help students succeed in this class. If you have a reasonable reason for not taking one of the exams, she will open it up for you to take.
Miss Carolina she is a great teacher she communicates with students, if you follow her instructions, you will pass the class. Ask questions! Microbiology is not an easy class but if you put work in and do all assignments you will pass.
Dr. Rojas does not record her own lectures and the all of the assignments are through McGraw Hill. She provides reviews, but I found them to have a lot of unnecessary information and the tests having specific questions. However, she is caring and provides a good amount of extra credit.
Dr. Rojas is great at communicating with students considering the course is online. She responds to emails in a timely manner and answers any questions that you have. This class is definitely not easy and you do have to read quite a lot, but Dr. Rojas is great at giving you the tools and resources you need to do well in her class.
Professor Rojas had the class very well organized for an 8 week online course. There is a lot of reading to do and you have to be ready to study. She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities that are very helpful. She is also very flexible and responds to any questions in a timely manner.
I took professor Rojas for the online 8 week course. It's a lot of material and assignments that need to be done but it was doable for the most part. Everything is pretty organized which made it easy. The smart book assignments take hours so be prepared. She is very caring, understanding and sends emails often. Also gives extra credit assignments.
Professor was very nice and always available if needed. The class is a lot of work. Lots of homework that take hours to do. 4 exams, 1 final, and 2 lab practicals as well. Be prepared to put a lot of time into the class. If you study and do your homework, you should be ok.
Great class just lots of work which is expected especially as an 8-week class. As long as you prepare to put in a lot of time, you'll do just fine.
My recommendations would be to only take this class if you are doing the 8 week session, this class is like 3 in one. You will have to dedicate a minimum of 4+ hours per chapter to study, do homeworks, labs, watch videos. Uses McGraw material, if you put in the work this class should be able to pass. Reviews were not so helpful.
this summer class was extremely difficult but i also was taking 2 other classes at the same time. the tests were hard and proctored, lots of mcgraw hill assignments, and the mcgraw hill didn't really match up with test questions. however, she was really nice, gave easy extra credit, and was easy to communicate with.
Microbiology is a difficult course in general, and this class is no exception. It's definitely doable to receive an A or B in the course. Be prepared to read a lot and spend hours on McGraw Smartbook assignments. There are also tons of extra cred. opportunities. Tests are difficult but fair. You should do fine as long as you study and do your work!
Pretty difficult. You have to watch all lecture videos online. Really pay attention to details in your lab practices. McGraw HEAVY and lockdown browser for all exams.
she doesn't record her lectures, she uses lectures from another professor. the majority of the work is smartbook assignments and labs on connect. she provides good reviews but they sometimes don't have everything you don't need to know for the exam. she provides a lot of extra credit though.
Pre-recorded lectures from another professor were helpful but make it difficult to know what you would be tested on. HEAVY Connect assignments (4-16hrs/wk), learning is reliant on the textbook and being self-taught. Easy to contact, provides lots of extra credit- no other involvement from the professor. Tests open Wed-Friday, HW due on Sundays.
Very clearcut, if you follow the syllabus and directions you will do good. Don't procrastinate!
This class takes a lot of time and effort to get a good grade. Please, be ready to read. The homework took away time from studying for tests because it was so much.
This is a very self learning class, which was to be expected since it is online, be prepared to set aside time to actually read the material and study, the professor responds to emails very quickly if you have a question
Very McGraw-Hill heavy and can be over 5 hours for just one chapter, so time management is very important in this class. She does respond to her emails on time and allows extra credit.
Procrastination is not the key in this class. Mcgraw HEAVY which would take a week to complete that consists of over 200 questions some weeks that takes around 4-6 hours.
Class is very good just make sure to read and keep up with things in class and everything is easy. Asking questions will also help.
Excellent! (8 wk online) Many chances for extra credit (5 pts each) to be added to the lowest exam score. Lots of HW/ lab assignments are due every week, but you get a 100 if they're submitted by the due date. Lots of review materials for exams. 2 of them were open-book, but the rest were on the lockdown browser. Take advantage of the extra credit!
Professor Rojas is a good professor. Microbiology is a difficult class no matter who is teaching it. She is there to help you. If you read the book, do the work and reach out to her when you need help, you will pass no problem. However, if you are only putting in minimal effort you won't do great.
This class was very challenging, but Professor Rojas was very attentive and helped in many ways. She had a good response time to emails and tries to help her students succeed. Very test focused class, get ready to study study study. Time management is crucial to success in the class. Otherwise, there are no bad take-aways from my experience.
This was an online 8-week course. Many assignments needed to be done, but it was doable. The course is well structured, and the content is effectively conveyed. The smart book assignments take hours; take your time so you meet the due date. Professor Mantilla communicates effectively. She also gives extra credit assignments. Easy class. Take her.
I took an 8 week microbiology course with her. It's a lot of material to cover in such a short time. The lecture exams were manageable with the provided study materials, but the lab practicals seemed to pull mostly from new information. She did provide adequate extra credit opportunities to correct any bad testing days, which I appreciated.
this professor was really good. i thought this would be a difficult class but by far an easy A.
This class was pretty difficult however, Professor Rojas checks up on her students sends useful reminders on upcoming tests, offers extra credit, and even checks up on you if she notices you missed an assignment! As long as you read the material and make use of the reviews, you will do great in this class.
A lot of extra credits, and class is fairly straightforward.
There was a lot of material to cover, she provided a lot of information from various sources. She offers extra credit, but this class took up all of my time and the homework was SO much.
She truly cares about her students and has multiple extra credit options throughout the mini-mester. Prepare to study a lot for her tests
She offers a lot of resources for her tests and lab exams. She also offers extra credit. This class is difficult, so studying is very important.
Not gonna lie, she's a hard choice. Really nice, but taking the eight week mini course if difficult with her style of teaching. Take if you feel prepared and ready to really dedicate time to the course.
Professor Rojas was great! Though the course is heavy on material and reading you can easily pass with doing the assignments. She offers plenty of material to study from. You will also get the opportunity to complete extra credit. Overall, tough class, but awesome Professor and room to pass with an A.
I wish I would have taken this class under other circumstances. This class gave me and ability to juggle all 6 of my classes (clinical rotations included) and still get a passing grade. She afforded me every opportunity get an A. Responsive. Fair. DEFINITELY take her.
Taking this class with Professor Rojas was the best decision I made. The coursework is pretty average, you have to make sure to prioritize all of the assignments/exams. Would recommend, and take her again if needed.
Professor Rojas is a fair teacher and communicates clearly about assignments and sends reminders every week. She's very responsive to emails and gives ample opportunity for extra credit. I highly recommend taking her class!
I loved taking this class with this professor. Very convenient and she was very lenient. She is a great communicator and if you have questions or concerns, it would benefit you to reach out. The class was doable but be aware there is a LOT of homework. As long as you stay on top of that you will be fine. Would highly recommend taking her!!!
Professor Rojas was very understanding and tries to help you understand in the best way possible. She responds very quickly if you reach out to her. In addition, the class requires a lot of studying, be prepared to have many assignments and labs to complete if you are taking the online course.
More of you read and learn yourself but everything was pretty manageable, and the professor was pretty nice.
Took an 8-WK online course, this is not an easy class! Though, you can easily get a passing grade as long as you stay on top of your work. Assignments and labs are pretty straightforward and easy to follow, all done on McGraw. 4-5 chapters to cover each week, exam every other week, and 2 lab exams followed by a final exam at the end! Good teacher!
She's very understanding and will work with you to get your work done in a timely manner.
She uses lockdown browsers with WebCams if there's an obstruction of your WebCam, whether it's accidental or on purpose, you will receive an email. She's very strict about what's in the room lighting and everything. I'm sure taking her class in person would be a lot better.
Professor Rojas runs a tough but fair class. Lots of homework, so staying on top of it is key. Tons of helpful resources, including Unstuck ai for efficient study prep. Overall, a challenging yet rewarding course if you're willing to put in the work.
She will work with you to get your work done in a timely manner if you communicate with her in advance. The exams are back-to-back with lockdown browser and webcam so please get ready to study wisely. She gives you resources and gives you multiple options for extra credit.
I took the 8-week course online; the professor wants you to succeed in this class. Yes, you have a lot of homework, but the professor lets you know from the very beginning that it will be challenging. But it can be done, you just need to manage your time and keep up with the work.
she was very straighforward with the grading and assignments that needed to be done. It is a lot of work but as long as you submit everything my deadlines it will be fine.
This was a very time-consuming class, if you do not have good time management skills this class will be difficult. I was able to finish all the work while working full time, I did the 8-week online course. She gives LOTS of extra credit, and the assignments are not hard, once again, just time-consuming.
The course itself is complex. I took the 8 week course but If there's an option for a regular semester class I would definitely retake it. The homework and assignments are not hard at all just time consuming. My only issue was the study guides. I wish they were more focused on the topics that were in the exams. Expect Lockdown browser with webcam.
This professor wants you to good. She is always sending emails to remind us and keep us on track. I had some personal issues and I voiced it to her and she helped me. She uses lock down browser and webcams for all exams. I liked to use quizlet to help me study for the exams. I did take her 8 wk course and I felt like everything was very doable.
I would recommend this course and this professor to all nursing students. It's been tough, but there is nothing tough about nursing school. I think she sets the standard mark of what it will be like in nursing school. There is a lot of work, time management is key for this course.
Great professor, cares about her students. Make sure you use time management, study the concepts. Nursing courses are tough so I expected this to be tough. Would take her again.
This class is tough, so I recommend taking the Aug-Dec semester or in person. There are 4 exams + a final under lockdown browser with webcam recording on all exams. Homework on McGraw Connect has around 200 questions. The teacher is really sweet and offers extra credit, which helps. It's manageable with effort!
This professor HAD potential until you see her MCgraw Hill assignments. Its extremely difficult to get those done, more then 2 a week, more than 200 questions ! if you know how those work then you know its doubled. Exams require webcam. Extra credit opportunity. Exam available weekend only. Have fun with this one !
This class is not easy, be prepared to put lots of hours into studying. 4 exams, 1 final, and LOTS of homework. Some assignments will take up to 6 hours.
Be prepared to work! Time management is VITAL! As many as 500 "CONCEPTS" per week (iykyk), PLUS labs! Take advantage of the Extra Credit to boost your grade! As well as any opportunity to make up any missed work! Prof. provides lecture videos, outlines, and study guides. I know it seems like a lot but Prof. Rojas wants to see her students succeed!
Time management is key for this course! LOTS of homework and back to back tests! Be prepared to put in AT LEAST 2 hours a day (usually more) the class is tough but the professor really cares about her students and will give you plenty of opportunities to succeed!
This was a online 14 week class which was difficult. It's a lot of information. The online assignments are very time consuming but will help your grade! Test are very hard and the test reviews are not helpful. She does give extra credit! The class is very straightforward! I would take her again
This class is an online asynchronous class. You can do assignments at your own pace, so there is flexibility, but you have to have good time management skills as there are a lot of assignments, and it's easy to fall behind.
This class was a completely online class. Only an 8-week course so there was A LOT to do in a short amount of time. The professor is well organized and provides A TON of helpful resources to get through the class. It is completely up to the student to manage their study time and study effort. Extra credit was generous if you do the work for it.
This is an 8 week online class, which in my opinion makes it harder. I have a difficult time in this class. There is lots of assignments each week, due to the timeline, so be prepared to WORK. There is powerpoint slides with vidoes going over them, which is helpful. She gives out alot of extra credit opportunities, so DO THEM. Teacher is nice tho!
be prepared for a very vigorous work load with many assignments due each week (sometimes 10+), the information is a lot to retain but the professor provides a lot of extra credit and responds quickly to remind messages!
An extremely good class, if you choose 8 weeks of study, the amount of homework is a lot and you need to divide it reasonably to be able to complete it. The teacher is very good, she is willing to give you feedback and most of all, she gives a lot of bonus points. There will be a webcam for the test.
Professor Rojas was great! Each week she provided us with a break down of what was coming up that week. In general it is a fast paced class but she is a good professor.
Professor Rojas was very responsive and gives many opportunities for extra credit throughout the course. All assignments were through Connect (homework is lengthy but a completion grade) and lectures were just youtube lectures. It's a difficult class overall but I don't feel as though she made it anymore difficult than it had to be!
This was an excellent 8 week class. It is VERY homework heavy, but you won't have to study apart from the assignments. She offers open book exams with a lockdown browser. 10/10 would reccomend if you need to take micro with a lab.
This class is hard, that being said the only reason you were to get a bad grade would be due to laziness. The professor provides many resources, extra credit, and tutoring opportunities, you have to put in the work! I took this class along with an 8-week A&P 2 class and I was able to pass both with good grades, you get what you give.
She is a fantastic professor! However, microbiology is a very challenging course, so get ready for that. I took the 8-week session, and there was a lot of homework, so you definitely need to dedicate many hours per week. She does make sure that her students have extra resources like YouTube videos and exam reviews to help with the content.
I took her 8-week asynchronous for microbiology and she is a really good professor and gives your plenty of extra credit opportunities. My only con for this class is that it is assignment heavy and they do take a time to finish since there as several of them.
I took this class as an 8- week class and I'd have to say it's a lot of work squeezed into 8 weeks if you are taking other classes. Pretty straightforward, you just have to spend a lot of time with the material. Great professor, clear outline for class, extra credit and will work with you on extensions.
An efficient approach to working consistently, maintaining clear communication, and offering students opportunities for extra credit assignments.
There were 4 lecture exams (2 of them are open exams), 2 lab exams, and 1 final exam, up to 65 extra points. There were also LOTS OF CONNECT ASSIGNMENTS. Easy labs. Communication is pretty good. Exams were really hard. I hope I pass this class. Pray for me, ya'll. Good Luck!
I took the 16 week online Microbiology for NON-SCIENCE Majors. If you don't read the material you will not pass. The homework is HEAVY! Be prepared. Homework and tests are sometimes due within the same week of each other, work ahead on homework to have time to prepare and study for the tests and labs. Lesson learned on my behalf.
This class is very time-consuming, so be prepared to spend lots of time doing homework. I took the 16-week class for Micro. Homework is 30% of your grade, so you need every point you can get. Tests are hard, so during test week, you have to complete homework and study for the test as well. do not procrastinate, or you will not make it.
Professor Rojas was an easy professor to work with, all her assignments were self explanatory. There was 4 Lecture Exams and 2 Lab exams, and Final exam. The McGraw Hills were super long, 4+ hours on some of then but other than that, this class was super easy to me. She does also give extra credit towards the end of the semester which is great.
Professor is caring & will email you each week. Heavy on the homework from connect each week. Some chapters will have almost 300 concepts. This will take most of your time especially with other serious & heavy classes, too. This professor is GREAT HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Test heavy even though I have test anxiety. I only need a C to complete this!
The course itself was very difficult. I suggest taking it by itself only. It requires a lot of reading and memorization, and it is test-heavy. But the professor was nice and approachable. She also gives activities for extra credit, so make sure to do all of it one time. I also suggest using all of the resources that she gives as a study guide.
great professor I loved this class
The prof was very caring and good at communicating. She also gives great opportunity for extra credit. The class itself was very difficult, and there is a TON of connect assignments, and the exams are very difficult. There were study guides, but I still struggled to feel confident going into the exams. Praying I end up passing
The professor was very caring, and gives good extra credit opportunity. She also is great with communication. The class itself was very difficult and there are a TON of connect assignments due each week, the exams were very challenging. Study guides were provided, but I still wasn't confident going into them. Really praying I pass this class!!!
She genuinely cares about her students. She consistently communicates, sends reminders about deadlines, and provides all the tools you need to succeed, apart from getting the online textbook. Her assignments and resources are well-structured, and she is incredibly fair and understanding. The workload is time-consuming, but it is worth it.
She was an easy going and respectful professor but her assignments were overwhelming. If you are familiar with Connect concept assignments, she will assign 100-300 concepts per assignment. It was usually the only assignment for the week but it became repetitive and boring. If you have no problem with lengthy assignments you should be good!
Took the 16-week async course—it's time-intensive and not ideal if you're taking other classes, have a busy life or tend to procrastinate. The professor is organized, communicates well, and cares about students. Strong time management is key. Lots of homework via Connect; some chapters take 6+ hours and are due weekly, even during test weeks.
This wasn't my first time taking an online class, but it definitely felt like it was. The course began with 82 concepts on McGraw Hill, and each week, the number of concepts doubled. This made it hard to focus on studying because there would be an exam, and I'd have around 250 new concepts in just one week.
No I would not recommend taking this class, especially if you are taking other classes. Homework heavy, Mcgraw hill and the smarbook concepts (if you know), get ready to do at LEAST 130 concepts a week. In addition, I strongly feel like studying for this class is pointless since the material that is given to you doesn't really match with the exam.
Took her for a 6 week microbio and her being organized and easy to follow made a hard class easy! 10/10 recommend.
The professor was overall very nice, sent out reminders about tests and extra credit opportunities, but I don't recommend taking this class if you have a lot going on, it is time consuming and you really need to put in the effort to understand the material. Personally, I think the tests didn't quite match the reviews she provided nor the lectures.
Very difficult and heavy course. Don't fall back and start strong beginning day 1. Exams are tough cover lots of chapter that must be done in one week and on top of that concept checks that takes hours to complete.
I took the 8week course and it was very difficult due to the amount of homework and how much material was given. If you don't make this class your top priority then you will not do well so I recommend taking this class if you do not have a lot going on. If you study ahead of time, you will do fine on tests. Professor offers a lot of extra credit!
The class is manageable with many extra credit opportunities and clear communication with the class. Please be prepared for a heavy workload in a short time as the McGraw hill concept assignments are very time consuming for a 8 week course. She does not post her own lectures but a YouTube lecture so please utilize all of your resources.
Overall, be ready to dedicate alot of time to this course for the 8 week summer session. Stay on top of the homwork as it is extrem ely difficult to do the heavy workload, and study for the very course heavy exams. The material is very specific, be prepared to put in at least 40 hours a week. ON THE BRIGHT SIDE SHE OFFERS LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT.
the class is doable but be ready for a heavy workload and lots of studying. Reviews are pretty straight forward and she has practice questions on Socratic that help too. She offers a TON of extra credit so that also helps quite a bit.
heavy material and a lots of Connect homwork
Professor Rojas isone of the best teachers I've ever had. She actually cares about her students and wants you to succeed. Her lectures make sense, she's understanding when life happenbut still keeps you accountable. I learned a lot in her class, and honestly, I wish more professors were like her. If you get the chance to take her, do it.
Challenging class, but professor provides many tools—videos, slides, outlines, and tables—to support all learning styles. She's respectful, responsive, and offers extra credit. Homework is very time-consuming, so time management is key. I've learned so much I now apply in patient care. I truly respect her dedication.
She was really nice, the course was hard but because of the subject i would recommend her class to all f my friends
She's awesome she's flexible if you missed something i definitely would recommend her class
I took the 8-week summer course with this professor. So it was very fast-paced. The professor is nice. But please keep in mind you have to put in a lot of work. She provides lecture videos and extra credit. You can get up to 50 points with extra credit. She also uses McGraw-Hill, with some concepts being over 200, so it is very time-consuming.
i have never suffered so much in my life. the exams were INSANE and didnt reflect the material. the amount of concept questions is crazy and was also useless. by the end of the course youll be doing over 400 concepts a week. i would rather live in the desert than take this eight week course again. i have genuinely aged 30 years after this course.
I took the 16 week class. The professor is very nice, responsive and respectful. She posts announcements and reminders of upcoming tests, how to get extra help like contacting a tutor or ways to get extra credit. She uses McGraw-Hill which does consume alot of time, but shes flexible if you missed something. She provides videos, slides and outlines.
This was a good class, it was just hard for me because I didn't know my studying technique in the beginning. The class is very sped up so there's lots of homework at once but overall it was a good class if I would've just known my resources to study.
Professor Rojas is a very generous professor who genuinely cares about your performance in this course. She offers lots of extra credit opportunities in order to bring up lower exam grades and she genuinely wants you to succeed. This class does require a good amount of effort and time, but is overall organized well.
The class is certainly not easy. Even the professor states many times that this class is very time consuming. The professor herself is great though. Must be good at test taking, and if you're lucky, you might get a few open note tests.
She truly cares about her students and responds to emails in a caring timely manner. Her homework does take a lot of time, but it's easy completion. Her exams are lockdown and can be challenging but she offers extra credit in return of tutoring.
Her homework can be time-consuming, but it's straightforward to complete. The labs are also easy to follow and really helpful for visual learning. Her exams are on lockdown+ webcam and can be challenging, but she offers multiple extra credit, which helps balance things out.
Professor Rojas is genuinely a caring instructor who is truly invested in her students' success. She wants everyone to understand the material and do well in the course. The workload can be heavy. There is a lot of homework so manage your time. You don't want to fall behind. She offers extra credit opportunities which I appreciate. Great Professor!
She was very easy to communicate with, and she provided lots of extra credit which I am very grateful for. This class is a very big workload and it is very easy to fall behind, but if you keep up with the calendar, that should not be a problem. This professor provided lots of materials that should help you stay ahead!
She's a very clear and organized professor. Her expectations are easy to understand, and she communicates exactly what you need to succeed in the class. I appreciated that she allowed extra time on assignments when needed it made the workload manageable without lowering the standards of the course. Overall, she's supportive, responsive.
Great professor, she is very organized and makes her grading criteria crystal clear so you never have to guess what she wants. She's also very understanding and offers plenty of extra credit opportunities, and she is always quick to respond. All in all, I highly recommend taking her
Super difficult subject regardless. Offers ALOT of extra credit to raise your test scores by more than a letter. If have time to dedicate to homework & extra credit can get an A if needed. Less time it will be more difficult. ALOT of homework but completion & counts as 30% of overall grade so helps out with grade but takes time away from studies.
Prof.Rojas was a very clear teacher that provided a good learning environment . She would give you plenty of material to study such as reviews and socratives for exams. Was very understanding and responded fast during week days. Extra credit was provided with activities and by tutorials . Lockdown webcam and browser for all exams & labs were use.
She is a great instructor and she definitely cares about her students. This is a tough course regardless, but she makes it doable. She offers a lot of extra credit throughout the course. It is a very time consuming class though, and it being online makes it more difficult. If you don't have time, this class will be very difficult to keep up with.
This is a very challenging and time-consuming class. Exams are detailed and hard to study for, and there's a lot of homework involved. If you don't have much time, I wouldn't recommend it. The professor offers a lot of extra credit, which helps, but those assignments are also time-consuming.
lots of work but she also does lots of extra credit. It is a very time-consuming class, and the homework take hours to complete because of all the question. Lockdown browser on all tests. If you have the time, take her but if not id, consider other teachers.
Micro biology overall is a hard class. Professor Mantilla-Rojas did a great job in providing all the study material you need. The video links she provides are must watch to understand the concept of each chapter. This class is heavy on concept questions from McGraw hill connect. 4 lecture exams, 2 lab practical exams, and a final exam.
there is a good amount of homework. you have to figure out how to study for test really quick or you wont pass them (something i struggled with). offers a lot of extra credit.
Very hard course that you need a lot of time for in order to succeed, and I mean a lot of time. You cannot study for this course at the last minute. Exams are very detailed, and even just the smallest detail could be on it. She does provide a lot of extra credit for your lowest exam grade, but each assignment for extra credit is time-consuming.
This class was pretty rough but as long as you study and really give it your all you can succeed, just be prepared to spend many hours studying for the exams.
not the best professor. I barely learn anything in this class. Be prepared to spend hours in front of the computer repeating the same questions from the homework she assigns. Communication with her is easy, but the workload is excessive. Honestly, do not take this class unless you want to spend around 7 hours completing McGraw-Hill assignments.
The one positive thing about this class is that she offers 60 points of extra credit. However, the extra credit is just as time consuming as the weekly assignments. Her lecture videos were not her own, it was from another professor at another college. Therefore, I found it difficult to connect the information we learned to what was on exams.
