Quizzes and tests were completely opposite of material taught, so pretty much however much you study you are pretty much screwed cause the tests dont even relate to material taught.

This professor was terrible. I had to teach myself to receive a "B". She went through notes too fast, she wasn't helpful or approachable, & very disorganized. There was an unnecessary amount of mandatory homework and the tests/quizes were different than the notes/homework.

if you want to have very hard time learning math then take this instructor!!! she goes through the class super fast and you will have tones of unneeded homework that will make you sick so expect around 50-75 question of homework which is required in a short period of time.by the way she skip a lot of questions in the textbook.

Is not helpful at all, lessons are not taught well and most of the online homework problems are confusing due to lack of teaching ability. Tests and quizzes do not match anything she teaches.

She doesn't teach at all. She just does the problem without explaining what she is doing. She doesn't show how to solve it or doesn't show you how she got the number. So the rest of the problems don't make sense. If you are going into the class willing to learn, good luck. Because you won't.

Very Unhelpful teacher. I Went for help, tutoring, and tried everything humanly possible to pass the class. She gives tons of homework, notes that both confuse the mind and don't prepare for tests, and teaches like she is in a room full of fellow Calc professors.

This is the worst instructor I have ever had! She literally doesn't know how to do any of the problems! She skips problems, doesn't solve many examples, doesn't solve problems all the way through, and makes mistakes ALL THE TIME! She's horrible at answering questions, it's like she doesn't even know what to say and she mumbles like the whole time.

Calculus II is hard enough with a good teacher, but Castel made this class 5x harder. I previously took Calc II somewhere else, and if it wasn't for my prior experience I would have failed. Avoid Castel at all costs. By the way, very algebra based, not much visual.

Homework is long; uses a poorly made website. The teacher gets defensive & childish when you correct/contradict her. Teaching style is not college level & classtime could be adjusted to engage students better. This class was poorly designed & pitifully taught. AVOID her if you value your education & time. Pay a snail to teach you calc 2 instead

She is the worst teacher I have ever had. She can't even answer simple questions and confuses every student on such a simple topic. If I had not had 2 years of calc experience before I would have no idea what she is talking about. She teaches to you as if you should already know the information and if you correct her she gets defensive. Avoid her.

This is the worst teacher I have ever had. Rushes through the notes with very little explanation if anything. Doesn't even show how to do the problem, she just solves and moves on. Even if half the class is confused! Her test and homework, yeah good luck with that completely different. oh, and you cant use a calculator!

This is the worst teacher I've ever had. She talks very quiet, doesn't seem like she has any idea what she's "teaching" and isn't helpful. She makes a lot of mistakes and doesn't know how to solve problems in the notes. I learned more from the book than from her. DO NOT take her if you are the type of person who likes things being explained to you.

Shes nice, but lectureexamples dont match the hw. Very minimal examplesexplanation. Her tests are hard enough but you have to watch out for "math felonies" because if you do one you get a 0 on the problem & -5%. Better off not doing the problem. Only used book for math videos. Some extra credit. Always had A's in math & Im struggling for a B.

She is definitely not the best teacher i have had at macomb. The lectures drag on, and she only does examples without talking through them. There is a lot of homework and you basically have to teach yourself because the notes and homework are 100% different than the tests. When the class started there were 40 people in my class, now there are 15.

I would not take her She is very unclear and unhelpful. Does a few examples on the board then moves on to the next. Very poor at explaining what is going on in problems. When some students would ask questions she would have a hard time to explain and a few times she did the problem completely wrong or used methods not taught

For the love of God, DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. She is unfriendly and boring. All of her assignments are online and my math lab taught me better than she did! Her tests are unnecessarily hard and go steps beyond noteshomework anything you could study. Be prepared to get a mediocre grade, never have I gotten a C+ before I took this.

I will never take her EVER again! Her notes sucked. She would introduce new topics to us like we already know them. Raced through the notes and if you asked her to slow down or go back she'd make a smart comment. Lectures were boring. Would've been better if she incorporated useful examples in notes. Would not recommend. Don't take her class.

Castel is the worst professor. She can't do math. She makes you feel stupid when you have questions. She does things wrong even when she has her notes already written. She is not helpful or clear. The work in class was different from homework and tests. Do not take her class. Only 5 people took the final & 2 passed with a C or B.

Caroline Castel is one of the worst professors I've had. Her "teaching" style involves her doing 1 example on a projector extremely fast and then moving on to the next topic. Also, she will not go back if you cannot copy what she does fast enough. Tons of homework as well on things barely covered in class. So, basically, I had to teach myself.

This Calc teacher sucks. Never have I had to posts videos to youtube before on how to do homework. She is the toughest grader in the world and if you make one little mistake of what she calls math felonies... chances are you fail the assignment. There was quizzes everyday and don t expect any credit unless you get it 100% correct. WORST PROF. EVER

Worst professor ever. Hardest grader I've ever seen. If you think you got a problem right... think again... cause she'll try to find points to mark off in your work even if you get the correct answer. And more than half the class failed before we even took the final. WOW

After reading all these reviews... I went into class knowing she was bad. But she exceeded my expectations. Never take a class with this professor she is by far the worst professor at Macomb.

I would NOT take her class!! I would email her about the smallest thing it would take her 2-4 days to respond. I had to call macomb to tell her to email me back. Syllabus, was a joke! she contradict her self left and right. Over all % for test were 63% for the class. My chem, and statistic class was WAY easier than this , i got B+ in both.

Her lectures are WAY too fast and her lectures last the entire time of class. If you take your own notes, good luck. Her tests are not multiple choice and they are pretty difficult. Her syllabus is 4938938 pages long, but it does not have any useful information in it what so ever.

Her teaching style seems to be geared only towards left brained superhumans able to keep up with her lightning fast lectures. For what time i did waste in this course i had to teach myself. She just BLAZES through chapters, makes countless mistakes, changes the syllabus constantly, and makes no effort to actually teach. Overall Castel gets an F!

Class should be called calculus 1 review because she teaches like we already know the subject. Ask a simple question about the material and you'll get a condescending response. So if you're VERY proficient at math and enjoy being talked down to, this is the perfect class for you.

I do not recommend taking this teacher. You will be thoroughly disappointed. She flies through her notes, has a terrible time explaining how to do it if you ask her a question about a problem, and she makes tons of mistakes on her own work. Her tests are unfairly graded. Skip, and you most certainly won't pass. I've never done so horrible in math.

Do not take her. She is the hardest class I had to ever endure in all my years of learning. I'm usually fairly good at math, but this was the first time I had even got lower than an F. Her tests are hard, she grades unfairly, she makes tons of mistakes on her own, she does not explain well, and pretty much all online. Lectures are the whole class.

Very nice as a person. However there is no student teacher contact what so ever. Taking notes and homework are done outside of class. This can be a huge problem for many people. Only reason to go to class is for the quiz that is given everyday. If I wanted an online class I would have paid for one. Should avoid if possible

Be Ready to Ether focus or drop. you need 100% focus when she is talking or else you may miss something that could determine a right or wrong on the test. she goes way to fast through her notes. easily losing some people who may not be at 100%. Don't take her unless your a genius at math.

Mrs. Castel was one of the worst profs I've ever had. I missed ONE day of class the whole semester, and as a result went down a whole grade level. She repeatedly promised to send me the notes I missed and never did, and she made no effort to help me whatsoever. She goes way too fast in lectures and will not go back for those falling behind.

Unless you have a phd in math, you will not pass this class. Course should be called calc 2 review since she teaches as if we're all 100% proficient in the subject. She has these 5 math rules that are normal math things that if you do on a test she'll drop you a whole letter grade. I dropped the class, and so did a lot of people.

NEVER take her. She uses fill in the blank for notes. Does NOT explain anything about the topic. She thinks she is an opera singer while she zooms by everything. You WILL be on your own in this class if you take her. DONT.

Nice lady, but I wouldnt wish her on my worst enemy.. She teaches way too fast in my and the homework and test questions are way harder than what we go over in class. And she has math felonies that you cant commit or shell mark you down significantly on a test.

There is a difference between challenge and unnecessary hardship. This teacher makes Calculus the latter. - You will teach yourself Calc II. - During lecture, most steps will be assumed that you know. If you take her: - Commit your trig and calc 1 equations to memory. - Know the material BEFORE you go to lecture.

Castel flies through the notes w/o thoroughly explaining what's going on; but if you do the Webassign hw, practice problems and test reviews, you'll do fine I promise.

WORST teacher I have EVER had! She does not teach so get ready to teach yourself! she makes you watch videos and take your own notes on your own time and the online work to go with it is 100+ questions each time, not to mention the extra 100 questions you get of paper homework each time you walk in the door. I would heavily not recommend.

Literally the worst professor ive had. She gives minimal help and all the notes are online so prepare yourseld to teach yourself. The homework is easy but the tests have questions that are 10 times harder

Literally if youre taking math 1000 dont take it with her. She basically requires you to teach yourself and offers no help in class. She thinks that doing a couple math problems in class is doing notes. Be prepared to basically teach yourself at home and dont expect to do anything in class. By far the worst math teacher at Macomb College. Makes you buy a packet at the bookstore and then she fills in the blanks as a lecture. She does these classwork assignments in groups then tells you a problem and she stares at you when you dont get it and doesnt take the time to teach you the right way. Take a different prof. if you want to pass.

Somewhat nice person, terrible teacher. Not personable at all. I had to retake a test and she didnt get my email so she gave me a zero instead of trying to work it out. This was the worst teacher I could have possibly had to start college with. Be prepared to teach yourself the material.

If you have never had Trigonometry before, don't take it with Professor Castel. Do yourself a favor and take it with someone else. Do not take the accelerated class also. She could do a lot better at explaining things.

Do not take this class. She's nice but she does not know what's she's doing. Doesn't give out test reviews, no quizzes, confusing, overall, you're going to waste your money.

For the online course, 5 days of attendance are expected. Though, don't expect that from this prof. She will take multiple days to get back to you. I told her my schedule from the beginning and multiple times throughout, yet there was nothing she could do when the learning center hours didn't match schedule. Only assignments are quizzes and tests.

DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! She almost never responds to emails, and by the time she responds it is too late. Her class is only quizzes and tests and the quizzes are worth almost nothing. The lessons she provides online make no sense and you don't learn anything. This teacher failed me on my exam by one question, although I had a 93% for my semester.

Horrible. Online class - heard from her the first week and never again. Ten days before the final and she hasn't given out the study guide or final info promised by week 5. She does not answer email. I've sent her 2 messages via Canvas and one email and she hasn't responded to any of them.

This professor makes you show up 5 days a week for class to turn in work that counts for nothing. She doesn't do any online lecturing and only links a bunch of youtube videos of other teachers. Never responds to emails and doesn't offer any help. Basically it's like she isn't there, you're completely on your own. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!

Doesn't respond to emails, canvas messages, or phone calls. Never saw what I did wrong on a single test, no idea what I didn't know. You learn through the book, youtube videos and the assignments. Makes you do a 2 minute zoom to show shes a real person just to disappear directly after. Must do assignments 5 days a week but shes MIA the whole course

Terrible Professor! Doesnt care about the students, doesnt care about giving extra help, just awful. This professor doesnt send out emails (only 2 the entire semester), theres homework and attendance every day(yes even online), and theres no communication. Would NEVER take again.

Doesn't respond to any communication attempts. Tells you to discuss issues you are having with other students in a group discussion so she has an excuse for being entirely absent during the class. Demands you "Participate" in the class 5 days a week and yet she doesn't take even one to respond to EMails. Utterly baffling, absurd, no consideraton.

Had her in 2018, still the 2nd worst teacher I had ever had, 1st place belonging to one that hit me when I was 4.
