Excellent instructor.
She assign so many hard hmwk and her handwriting is awful.
she gives alot of tough hw assign. Be prepared to spend more hours than expected on this course.

Cares more about covering material than if her students understand concept. Rushes through crutial lectures. Not punctual. However, nice on a personal level.
Pros: Passionate about econ, likes practical application, nice, well dressed, accomidating, eager 2 help. Cons: always rushed during office hrs, often late grading papers, sometimes unorganized. Tests based on lectures.
Frankly, I really disliked taking Kaba. She was REALLY unorganized, she contradicted herself in many of the lectures, her accent makes it difficult for people to understand her, and she gives too much outside work (3 hour outside movie ring a bell?)
Rushes through lectures. She doesn't really concentrate on teaching. Take good notes, her tests are based on her notes. When you leave her class you feel confused and when you ask her a question she makes you more confused. Nice outside of classroom.
Nice instructure but pretty hard. She wants to see lots of graphs on exam.Exam based on notes and assignments. If u confused on her lecture, read the book. It's easier to understand.
this teacher blows as she is not able to teach correctly.
very unorganized, late to class, takes forever to grade you paper, difficult to grasp concepts at first. She is nice It is well worth it to read the book. Her tests are difficult make sure you do all the hw and review that and the notes and the reading
HORRIBLE TEACHER! doesnt explain for****. always late, unorganized. takes forever to grade a test. tests have nothing to do with ciriculum. dont take this teacher if your life depends on it!
I thought she was a good teacher and was pretty clear to understand. Was pretty nice and seemed to care about her students. Also her grading wasn't bad. I found her tests pretty far and as long as you did some studing and some work you can get a good A

She’s really hard to understand with her accent. She is ALWAYS late to her class. She talks about gibberish all day. Basically you wait for her to come in late, listen to a lecture you can’t understand, and if you do understand it’s useless information an
Don't listen to what most of these ratings may say. Kaba is REALLY nice and helpful as long as you also do your part in at least trying to learn the material. Its econ so of course its going to be a little hard but its only really hard if you slack off
she graded and returned our test on the day BEFORE the final... so how could we study?
worst teacher ever
She is the best -- and has the qualifications to back it up. She has been an economist with the United Nations! I mean c'mon, how better could you have it for an economics professor?! I like her a lot. Besides the fact that she jumps from topic to topic sometimes, she is an excellent prof.
Do not, and I mean do not take her.
Ms. Kaba is super nice and super great. If you love economics, you will love this class with her.
She's always late to class, never prepared, and blames you for not understanding material she speeds (lightning-fast) through. Toward the end of the semester, she'll begin keeping the class late at night (well after the class ends), if she feels SHE hasn't covered enough throughout the semester.
she is a nut!!!! Take this class if you like to get your midterm paper after the last class. she jumps from topic to topic so it is hard to focus on any topic. nice lady bad teacher.
Unbelievably disorganized. She does not return work in a timely manner. Her grading is quizzical at best. She will never say "correct". She endlessly asks for clarification and then gives you all of the points. Curious. She is very bright and would benefit with a little organization.
do not take
Horrible teacher, although a nice person. Don't take her under any circumstances. She might know the subject, but she doesn't know how to teach. If you wanna get a normal grade, take someone else.
this is a great teacher she teaches from experience if u want to learn take this class make sure u dont miss any classes and make sure to turn in ur assignments. BOTTOM LINE: there is only 2 tests and a Final. i got a B in 102 and an A in 101 no easy but challenging
She is a very nice person and its is fun in her class but her tests require a lot of critcal thinking. You need a tape recorder if you want to pass because there is so much information. Just take someone else if you can
Horrible teacher, although a nice person. If you wanna get a normal grade, take someone else. She's never prepared, and material she speeds (lightning-fast) through. soooooo many things to do.
one of best econ profs at gcc. dont know what other raters are talking about, but she's very helpful and knowledgable. if you want an A, take good notes and turn in hw, she grades mostly on effort, not correctness so as long as you try, she'll give you the better grade. midterms are mainly based on lecture notes, study notes and you get an A.
Very disorganized, far from objectivity and impartiality
i hate this teacher. she doesnt know how to lecture. she speaks as if you already supposed to know everything. no time to actually sit down and observe the material. dont take her.
Not the world’s greatest lecturer, expects you to know all the information before coming to class. She is a very compassionate and will help you if you go see her during her office hours (there usually a line of people waiting to see her too.) I’ve had better econ teachers than her, would not take another one of her class unless I have to.
Hard to understand, not too many tests, but her grading system is gay. Take her if you like Econ, and had a good econ teacher before, so you won't have to depend on her, cause you really can't!
seriously, she's a hard teacher. she only gives like three tests the whole semester. She does give a few assignments but she doesn't explain them very well. anyways i seriously don't recommend her.
She is a good person but she isn't good techer. If you want to learn something and pass the class take another teacher.
My God Very Very hard, Be ready to study hard for tests and still get a bad grade. But very nice personality.
shes a good person but very hard... shes hard to understand and unclear... makes things more confusing thatn it should be... dont take her
Kaba is a very nice women who is passionate about economics, as mentioned earlier if your interest and/or major is econ, take her because she has quite the crudentials. If you want to do well, obvioulsy reading and keeping up is a must(for any tough class). Lets just say im praying for a D. Keep searching if you want the easier professors.
Worst teacher ever. Full of energy but doesn't know how to teach! If she likes you you will definitly get good grade if she doesn't well...
She is an objetive teacher. She does her best. Her strategy works. Yes, there are lots of work to do. I think this is why the prevous student compains. But if you really want to study, she is the one who will make you learn econ.
She is a mess. Good economist in practice but cannot teach.
Mrs. Kaba is a very passionate professor and she is willing to take any second of time to teach you. If you wish to get a good grade, it's recommanded you to do a lot work, that includes finish all your assignment on time and do all the reading she assigns, also if you are not sure, you should see her after the class. Believe, she is great!
good teacher i recommend to take her. learned a lot in the class, probably take her for 101 too.
TOO MUCH HOMEWORK, TESTS ARE WAY TOO HARD AND LONG. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
If you are majoring in something economics related like me (bus-econ / econ), then I recommend that you take her because you will actually learn and understand the subject in depth -- especially while reiterating yourself in all of her essay exams. If you just need econ for generals, then don't take her. I got a B in 102 and an A in 101. Good luc
You will need to work hard in this class to get an A, but you will also learn a lot. Very good teacher. If you are a business major you need to take her, if you're looking for an easy A this is the wrong teacher for you. She was very clear, knows the material well, and really wants everyone to do well in her class. Gives extra credit as well.
She's willing to help you, knows the subject and is a very nice person. She likes the word "nice". The class is hard only because Econ is hard but she grades easy on the essays. The key is that you have to do well on the MC meaning you better read all the notes, come to class and read the book. Once you get the points on the MC, just write a lot.
Helpful teacher with fast-paced lectures. Make sure to study and read the book. Tests are long. Overall nice teacher. If you need help, just go to her office visting hours. I got a B last semester.
She's a nice person but gives so many homeworks and handouts. Recommended for those who really want to study regardless of grades. I took her class in summer and i felt like it was fall because i had to do so many things and time didn't fly fast.
I warn you dont take this teacher at all, find someone else. She is the most horrible teacher ever. She explains the subject very poorly, you can hardly understand anything she says when she talks.
Sweet lady but extremely difficult and biased grading. Too fast for the students and gets frustrated when they dont understand. Get on her good side.
There is a lot of stuff to remeber, but other than that, she is a good teacher.
If you are looking for an easy A, keep looking. This class requires a lot of work but if you willing to do the work you will learn alot and have a strong grasp of Econ. Her lectures a very fast paced and she gives a ton of hand outs (not always readable). Her grading is based on effort. She is very passoinate about Econ and is always there to help.
GREAT TEACHER. I'm not even into econ but she's like a highschool teacher,, what she teaches in class is whats on the test. Very simple. Teaches clearly, gives a lot of points on tests even though u are just b-sing ur answer. Very nice, understanding lady. Easy to get a good grade. HOMEWORK is easy, like middle school stuff.
Prof Kaba is a veryyy nice lady but this class was really boring and econ was not all that great n exciting as i thought it would be. there are many handouts in this class and a lot of homeowork..just show effort and youll be fine. she has a lot to say and she knows her stuff but its boring stuff!
I don't understand what all the sad faces are about. I took Maier who thinks that GCC is a graduate school. Kaba is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Sure you have to study, if not don't go to college. I got an A in her class. She taught and I studied what she taught. Simple as that! College is boring? Welcome to the real world!
OK SERIOUSLY THIS TEACHER IS BEYOND CRAZY. ONE I THINK THAT SHE HAS A HARD TIME TEACHING THE SUBJECT OF ECON. SHE KNOWS WHAT SHE IS TALKING ABOUT BUT SHE LACKS THE ABILITY TO TEACH WHAT SHE KNOWS. SHE GIVES A TON OF HOMEWORK AND HER TESTS ARE EXTREMELY LONG. SHE HAS FAST PACED LECTURES AND IT WOULDNT BE RECOMMENDED FOR YOU TO MISS A CLASS
she's not the worst teacher, but she lectures a LOT. expect her to let you out late numerous times. the topic isn't hard - attending class makes it easier. she hands out packets where she refers to a lot. i'd say just attend and participate. she's passionate - maybe TOO passionate. don't slack &you'll pass
professor kaba is a nice lady, just attend class all the time and do all the homeworks and try your best and you will be fine. Her lectures are really important due to her tests, so is pretty clear if you want to pass the class you have to attend each lecture becasue there all important. Overall she is really nice and helps you out!
I really would like to thank her for her extreme effort to teach econimcs, she is the best economic instructor that i had , she is so passionate about the subject and she is helpfull, but everything depends on the student , syudy and ull pass with a nice grade
OH MY GOD, when its time for you to register to this subject, run away when you see the name KABA. She is seriously by far the worst teacher, I mean though she is nice, but horrible as a teacher. Some people are not meant to teach and this person is Kaba. you better study even before you take this class
I don't know why everyone is complaining about Professor Kaba. I'm currently taking her 102 class and she is extremely helpful and kind. I didn't understand at first but after I took some tutoring, things are looking much on the up and up now. She offers to help during office hours. I like her because she knows a lot and you can learn from her.
i thought it would be fine taking her class since her grading scale was good...buttt she talked so much for the 1 month i stayed in her class i thought i was going to die!!! shes talks none stop the entire period with a big accent. Lets u out late. Hard tests. Dont take. trust me on this.i got a W cuz of her... UgggHHHH!!!
Ms. Kaba is great. Don't listen to whiny reviews. If you are actually interested in learning, and are willing to make some effort - not only will you get a good grade, you will actually learn something. She really cares and is very willing to help students. Definitely recommended!
DO NOT TAKE!!!!! WARNING SHE IS THE WORST TEACHER EVER! Too much homework, exams are veryyy hard, as if you were an economist.
Mrs. Kaba is an amazing teacher. those students who complain are doing so either because they do not attend class or they dont study and do the work so DON'T BLAME THE TEACHER PLEASE. This is not an easy class but she does an amazing job and she puts in alot of effort. She always welcomes students who need help. study and you will be fine.
This teacher gives lots of home work. I took this class on wednesday night 2007 and most if not all of the students came to class a half hour late most of the time. Also she does a very poor job lecturing that is why most of the students came late. Students always complained about her lectures. This class should be taken with no other.
The concepts aren't introduced well but if you're a good b.s.er you'll do okay on the tests. If you don't already have a solid background on basic economic concepts this class will definitely be challenging. Her lectures aren't clear and she gets upset easily-- especially if you are late/don't show up often/ask her to repeat something.
Professor Kaba is an excellent professor. She is both knowledgeable and energetic. You won't easily find another teacher as passionate about the subject as her. She is extremely helpful, but make no mistake. This is a challenging course. It is HEAVILY lecture based so you must be present every day (or have a note buddy) and you MUST take good notes
Kaba is a great lecturer and you'll be sure to learn a lot about the intricacies of economic theory, since she is very capable on the subject.
if can avoid her! gives wayyyy too much homework every class. lectures are unclear...
The class was pretty difficult. Mostly, it was because she went way off topic and taught things not in the book, which we would later get tested on. You HAVE to pay attention in class and take good notes. You also have to pay attention to what your answering on a test and what exactly you're studying for. She's approachable, so that kinda helps.
OMG!!! Worst teacher EVER! Packets of homework every week, tests are soooo hard. If you don't answer the way she would it's wrong. Horrible, she makes the whole class too hard for no reason. Stay Away!!! Waste of time!!!
CAUTION: Our whole class was uncertain of the subject matter, and she rarely rose to the occasion to close an eye if a student had a little screw up. Jumps from topic to topic, sometimes without finishing her sentence. Has trouble answering questions (and this is a subject where many questions need to be asked) Many people dropped, only 2 got As
Mrs Kaba is very nice person and her lectures are very interesting. I had a lot of fun in the class and really began to like economy. Remember if you do the homework well you will pass without problems
stay away!!!! worst teacher ever! hates to answer questions and keeps students late! the worst!
Ms. Kaba was awesome. For all those saying the class was hard or anything like that, they were just lazy. She is very fair, and I recommend her to anyone. She gives you study guides so if you prepare, it is hard to get anything lower than a B.
she is so confusing! she jumps from chapter to chapter. one day we will have to read a few pages in one chapter and then jump to another chapter! her tests are so confusing, and essays based on YOUR OWN opinion has to be similar to hers or else she will give you a lower grade. she has so many different materials you HAVE to purchase. DONT TAKE HER!
WOW!! this teacher is the worst ever!! seriously if you dont want your GPA to be lowered, dont take this class!!! unless you like, when teacher: jump from chapter to chapter, no clear about info, dnt answer your questions. OVERALL I GIVE HER AN F! this was a waste of my time.
DO NOT take her for econ! i was so bored in this class. she doesnt stop for one second to breathe. at one point i had my hands over my ears. her lectures werent helpful at all. i had to learn the material on my own. she gives so much work for so less points. her tests are tough. she says short answers but each question u have to answer 1 page.
Do Not Take this class. It is a huge pain in the ass. way too many arbitrary assignments, and pointless group projects, the test are are very difficult and there is not enough time to take them. I hear the other teacher is much better. Kaba is a good person, just do yourself a favor and save yourself the pain of this class. I generally get A's.
What I dont like about Mrs. Kaba is that she is a firm believer in Keynesian economics and the federal reserve, both of which are literally on their deathbeds, and she wont acknowledge the fed as the criminals that they are. She blames consumer confidence for the depression, but fails to mention it was at the fault of the fed that this happened.
The person bellow says that Kaba is a strict Keneysan then rants about her defending the fed. Keynesian economics espouses the use of fiscal policy not, monetary policy used by the fed. Advice take another professor Kaba is nice but her class is harder then others, but maybe you learn more? How important is your GPA VS your free time.
What she teaches and tests you on have nothing in common. She will confuse the hell out of you before the test and give you a terrible study guide that has absolutely nothing to do with her test. She knows a lot about economics but cannot apply her knowledge to her teachings. If she gets distracted during her lecture, she will forget her point.
She is very knowledge of the subject matter. Expects alot from students. One of the hardest class I have taken. It make more work than my 5 unit science class. Be warned! test are 2 days (day 1 mult choice and day 2 essays). I did fairly well but takes way too much work. Expect to work hard.
She expects a lot, homework is way too difficult as well as her exams. She thinks we're Econ majors at Harvard. Way too much work required. DO NOT take her!
She sure expected a lot from her students as her hw was like mountain high but accounted for not a lot of points compared to the tests. However, just read her notes, do some critical thinking and you should be fine. I nearly never went to class after my first test and I got an A just by reading her notes and some from the book.
Janaa shes so cute!
One of the best teachers ever. Although she is kind of hard you leave her class knowing everything about econ. after taking her class all other econ class or class related will be a walk in the park. She is a nice funny and cute lady.
some chapters are easier to understand than others, she is extremely helpful and takes her time (even off office hours) to help you out.
This is the most horrible teacher ever. This is only a 3 unit class and it should be 5 or more unit. She doesn't make sense and doesn't know how to teach.
do not take this teacher. she's horrible!!! she does not know how to teach. She doesnt make sense when she talks. Her tests are really hard. For her hw you do lot of work and get less points than you deserve. If you can take another teacher cuz if you take her she'll ruin your semester and will give you a low grade. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!
Please take this class if you absolutely do "NOT" care about your grade and especially your GPA! Kaba should not be a professor because she is unable to convert her knowledge about Economics into teaching students. If you pay attention to her lectures, you will be confused! Just use the book to learn on your own or you will fail!
Yes, Ms. Kaba is hard. But you get what you put in. If you don't work hard or put in the effort, you will fail. But if you focus and truly do the work you can definitely get an A, I did.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER SHE IS HORRIBLE THERE ARE ALOT OF EASIER TEACHERS! TAKE IT FROM MY EXPERIENCE :[
Mrs. Kaba is a very knowledgeable professor. Her class is very difficult, challenging but very informative. Homework assigned is like term papers, but worth 10-20 hw or participation points. I think she does this to prepare you for tests. If you are serious about school you should take her. She teaches you what you need to know. How to think!
She is well dedicated and have the ability to teach her students about economics. I recommend that you take good notes and listen well in all her lectures. You will do well this way in her exams. Ill admit that the class was hard at times do to the amount of homework that she gives. It was mountain high, but it has helped me tremendously.Take her!!
very hard
Students!!!!! Listen to me: do not take her, trust me! Mrs. Kaba can not deliver the material that she knows-NO teaching skills whatsoever! Constant homework which doesn't really help for your exam, she will confuse you during the lecture cause she is all over the place;forgets what she is talking about, not organized, goes very fast! Save your GPA
She is the best professor at GCC. She is so passionate about econ, you will become passionate about it, too. Yes, there is lots of homework, but it helps you get ready for the test. A really great professor is not the one who gives you an easy A without an effort, it's the one who makes you love the subject. Thank you, Ms. Kaba, for your effort.
Is she hard yes she is but if you are a business or economics major i recommend her. Take advantage of her office hours they are vital. As long as you talk to her about economics and she could that you are making effort to learn it you will not have a problem; she is that type that grades on effort. I strongly recommend her.
Ms. Kaba loves economics and teaches with great enthusiasm. She's a great teacher because she gives partial credit if you attempt to answer all questions and your reasoning is right. Must attend class because all quizzes/test/homework is based off class discussion. Gave lots of homework but I still liked her.. maybe because of her sweet personality
There are so many whiners on this website! Yes, this is a difficult class. But this is COLLEGE, people. You're not supposed to be able to slack off all semester and still do well. She's a good professor. Her lectures were clear. There was a lot of homework, but it was helpful for the exams. She's also perfectly willing to help students who ASK.
Kaba is nice. Don't listen to reviewers saying she is bad. All you need to do is pay attention and it really is as simple as the abc's, The homework isn't all that much either. I think people just don't like econ much, and it's not Kaba that's the problem.
I think her accent is cute, and i like her green eyes, she knows economics very well, and microecon gave me a good understanding of business in general, she is very insightful i thought. If you listen carefully and focus on the main points and theory, you should pass, although most of the class dropped by the end of the semester.
Took both 102 and 101 with Mrs Kaba. She was a great teacher, using great examples to try to paint the picture. She gave many helpful handouts. Subject is difficult, she is not the most organized, however she teaches a great class - even makes it exciting. Not much use of books, and online quizzes can be killer. Do not hesitate to take this class!!
Needs to fix her points system. She doesn?t give you many opportunities to bring your grade up, so several points could make a huge difference in your class grade. Way too many questions on the midterms, considering the time we have to finish, and her lectures aren?t organized. The midterms will most likely screw you over.
Her clarity falls short of the average. You will have to work very hard in this class just for a B (this class is a GPA killer). She makes you pay 35$ to take 5 online quizes (probably her way of boosting GDP). You really need to go to her office hours and show her you are making a valiant effort. Use her study guides/packets for best results!!!
I'm sure she is a very sweet person. However, she confuses even herself. She contradicts the book, or outright says she doesn't like how the book explains something, and tells you to use a different term or graph. The tests are WAY too long. There aren't enough points offered for the amount of work done. This should definitely be a 5-unit class.
She tries to explain so hard that sometimes her explanation doesn't make sense. Read the book and use vocab on the test. Go to her office hours and she will definitely help you. It was not a good class, but I learned something. If you want to pass this class, take her notes, read the textbook, and use vocab on the essay.
The midterms and the final are basically what make up your grade. She gives assignment but they have very little value. The class overall was not too easy just because she tends to be a tough grader. Go to her for help at her office hours and good luck!
Too much work to do. Homework almost everyday and lots and lots of amount. My GPA is 3.5 and have never got lower than B, but i ended up with C. I got C and B on both midterm and low B on final.. i did all the Extra crdit, but it worths like 10or 15 points only.(110points for each midterm)It's 3Unit class! not 5units.....prof. Kaba!
She's a very sweet woman if you don't upset her. She is rather helpful. Don't mess around in her class. Lectures are very important!! Reading is required. Tests are a bit challenging but not impossible. She expects a lot from her students. She has the potential to be boring but she does try to be funny and make the class exciting.
She is an extremely knowledgable teacher, but it is a very difficult class if you do not grasp the simple features of economics early. She is a tough grader, but tries to give group assignments that enable the "A" students to help those with lower grades better understand the subjuct. Overall an excellent teacher, but extremely difficult.
She is very kind and helpful. She is not hard but the subject itself is quite difficult. She does everything she can to help you understand and she always is into what she is teaching. You must read the book and come to class everyday. If you see her credentials your would ask why she is teaching here. She knows her stuff try to learn as much from
First of all, her writing is the sloppiest thing ever! Students dont take notes cause no one understands her writing. Also, she gets SOOO offended when you ask questions or say you don't understand something. If she does answer your question she says it with such attitude in a rude tone that makes whoever asked the question feel/look dumb. -_-
Terrible-stay away
This class was probably one the most confusing. She is impossible to understand because she is constantly contradicting herself as well as the book. She knows what shes talking about but does not do a good job of explaining anything that comes out of her mouth. But she is very nice and enthusiastic about her lectures.
I had her for both 102 & 101. Yes, her handwriting is not clear, her lectures are everywhere (inconsistent), and etc. However, she always wants what's best for you. Visit her office hours and ask questions, she will definitely help you. I was really upset when I got a B in 102, but tried my best to get a better grade; I got an A in 101.
OMG worst teacher ever! bad attitude when asked questions. don't bother taking notes its impossible to read her sloppy writing. HORRENDOUS!
She is a very nice lady. Make sure you read before coming to class, because if you do not, you will be lost. her handouts and lectures are based on terms and concepts in the textbook, even though she never teaches directly out of it. And make sure you do all assigned work because the points are minimal. She loves when you come to her office h
she's very nice but very hard to understand. her lectures are all mixed up and its very confusing and her homework and quizzes are very very hard! i wouldn't recommend her
she is an amazing woman she definitely loves and enjoys teaching the subject. i thoroughly enjoyed her class but she was an extremely hard grader but i believe she partially grades on how she like you so get on her good side and visit her office hours.
Completely helpless and unclear. You can expect at least some decency in terms of possible note cards, dropping an exam, and curving for a lower % giving you the higher grade. Still the poor understanding and assistance can make the course a tough C or D. It's highly recommended you take someone else with better qualities.
Worst econ teacher I ever had. She doesn't open the book, can't explain anything clearly and her notes are useless. Her aplia quizzes are useless, her take home quizzes again useless. I feel that i learn more just by reading the god damn book than I learn from her. She makes no sense at all. Take someone else for econ, save yuorself.
Professor Kaba is a great teacher. The people who say they hate her in her class are the ones who don't really have an interest in learning. If you like econ, she's a good teacher. If you don't, don't take econ in the first place because economics is going to be a hard class regardless. This is a hard class, but she helps in every way possible.
this teacher is a disaster. shes all over the place in her lectures and she hands out so many packets/papers that she's probably demolished a whole forest. her midterm&final are so long you cant even finish it. her use of aplia is so dumb. you waste $60 on taking stupid quizzes.. just dont take her... its not worth it. oh but shes nice....
Ok guys! If you wanna ruin your gpa, go ahead and take her. Totally useless. You think Econ should be an interesting class but she makes you hate it. She is unclear, hard, has a horrible handwriting, and she is all over the place. DO NOT take her! take someone else. I promise you will regret. A horrible class.
Just dont take this class, unless you're ok with teaching yourself. Her lectures are all over the place, her handwriting is illegible, and the packets she gives you are half handwritten so they're no help either. She doesn't really answer questions, just tells you to come by her office hours. Made me hate econ, I dread going to class.
She is a good person, but not a great teacher. Her lectures are so messy and confusing that you tend to dose off in class. She still uses transparencies from previous semesters and just writes over what she already had written before..
She gives out so many worksheets, but you cant understand anything bc she copies it off of her transparencies that are from years ago!! So hard to understand, you basically teach yourself and she never replies to your emails. But she is a very nice person
Horrible! When she doesn't grade homework, how do you expect to know what you do wrong for when the tests come. No time to ask questions during her long lectures. And she will not give the time of day after class or during office hours. I quote, "I cannot answer your questions." No need for the book & the study guide does not reflect her tests
This lady is a mess she knows the topic but DOES NOT know how to teach it. She is the worst prof i have ever came across in my entire life! i took her because her class was the only class with slots open and now i know why slots are always open in her class. Even though you need econ you should wait till next sem to take it with another prof.
Hoping to help an A student out there: this class is extremely demanding. DO NOT take other difficult courses with this class!! This is a gpa killer class... midterms are so long & you WILL learn, and by that I mean you will actually study Macroeconomics the right way with Kaba but if taking other 4 courses + econ YOU WILL FAIL! Seriously demanding
From the beginning, you can get the impression that she is not dedicated to her class, but after a while you will notice that she does everything for her student and really want you to succeed. You can ask her anything and she will try to help you understand. She cares a lot about her students, but you need to show interest and learn the material.
Do not take her class unless you want to spend hours sorting out all the papers, notes and what you actually need from the book. She is confusing and unorganized. She uses technology from the 90s an her hand writing is horrific. Teaches too fast & doesn't explain things well. Save yourself tears, stress, and from killing your GPA, don't take her!
Dont be like me where u take any professor because u r confidence u can pass any class with an A. the teacher does matter. if u have a opportunity take another teacher do it. Not because she the absolute worst but you can learn the subject better with another teacher and not have to work your butt off for a class that not your major.
Difficult class to get a A or B. Easy to get a C. Lectures are all over the place. Finally, her test are too long and needs to improve her writing. -Take someone else
Completely in agreement with other recent student ratings. You never know what to focus on because she isn't happy with the book she chose, makes you read handouts that aren't clear, exams are way too long to finish everything.. such a horrible class.. she does give study guides but they don't help at all... take someone easier and get an A
She is so unorganized and doesn't really care about you understanding the material. It is very difficult to receive a good grade, even if you attended every class.
She looks like a nice and easy person. However, she is very unorganized teacher. She bring tons of handouts into the class and you really do now know what she is going to test you on the exam. Forget to get an A in this class. Her exams are too long and you don't have enough time. She makes you spend $60 to buy an online access code but NO USE.
Personally she is a kind person, but if you care about your grade never ever take her class. She makes you buy a 170 dollar book, but never uses it. She is very unorganized. She gives you bunch of handouts every session but you never find a connection between them. Her exams are too long and you dont have enough time finishing them. F- teacher.
Greatest professor I've taken in college so far. Cares SO much about her students. NOT an easy class. Don't expect to get by with minimal work. NEVER miss class because every lecture is important. 2 midterms, 1 final, a few take home quizzes, EC. If you don't get an A, you can only blame yourself for not trying hard enough.
She looks nice but so though in grading. Seems like she does not want to give you an A even if you do your very best. If you want to not ruin your GPA, don't ever think of taking this class. Her class is so boring and tiring. She is very unorganized and giving you 1000s of handbooks to study. She never has time to talk to you about your concerns.
Absolutely useless teacher. She should be banned from teaching. I tried to give her a chance. TWICE. She was the only Econ professor available and I deeply regretted it both times. I love the subject but she absolutely ruined it for me. I can't wait to go to a university and learn Economics from a legitimate professor. Disgrace to education.
This was the hardest "B" I've ever had to fight for. As a person, Ms. Kaba one of the nicest professors. However, it was a constant struggle to keep up with her during lectures cause she was all over the place and made the course very confusing. I was able pass this class cause I spent a lot of time studying on my own. Take it with someone else!
Loose and unclear definitions in the tests do not allow to understand the meaning. Ambiguous interpretations are confusing. Although the subject is very interesting her interpretation is confusing and misleading.
I have yet to meet a professor who cares and puts as much work into their lectures as professor Kaba. Needless to say her classes are not easy. If you're expecting to go to class and just listen to do well, this is not the class for you. However,if you are willing to put in the work, you will learn more in her classes than with any other professor.
Very unclear with directions, ambiguous about concepts, has 1000's of handouts the feel useless at times, tests are very unclear and difficult need to spend time studying on your own. She seems to structure the class so its difficult to get an A and is an extremely tough grader.
Professor Kaba is difficult to understand at times. If you decide to take the class make sure you're the type of student who is always on top of things. Always do the assignments because she randomly collects them and they go towards your participation grade. Don't expect to get an A or B with minimal studying. It's mandatory to always attend class
After 3 semester that I took at GCC, Professor Kaba was the worst instructor. She doesn't like the book and never follows it and the book was about $200. Thousands of handouts are pointless. She ruined my 4.0 GPA, smiling and saying that I am one of the best students in her class, she gave me a B. She didn't teach us anything. Take someone else.
Terrible teacher. I wonder how GCC lets her teach so many classes. Don't take her if Econ is your major, she will teach you nothing.
She sucks. All over the place cannot focus on one thing she goes from the overhead to white board to packets. You gotta do extra work yourself. She gives so many packets. Hard tests not enough time to complete. She needs to learn new teaching methods cuz she cant teach at all. She has an accent she cant write clear at all on the white board. Dont!
Professor Kaba is an incredibly confusing teacher. Following her lectures is a project in itself. She is nice and wants to help, but her memory is terrible. I have to reintroduce myself every time I went to her office hours. Don't take Econ with her if you can avoid it.
Someone will ask a question during her lecture about something she is trying to teach us, and she responds with "Ask me after class." Lectures are really unclear especially if you have never been introduced to economics before.
She is the worst teach I've ever taken. She brings a lot of materials and makes things unorganized and difficult. Her explanation is so confusing and very poor which doesn't make anything clear. Even if you put a lot of effort, eventually you would get B or C. She is terrible!!!If you care about your GPA, don't take her.
Really enjoyed her class. She tries her best to make the topic interesting and the lectures fun. If you just pay attention to her lectures and review before the tests you can get the grade you want in the class.
Unable to clarify her lectures as well as unable to communicate back to students.
She is very unorganized. She makes you buy a 100 dollar connect plus access code while you never get any questions of it on the tests. Tests are super long while no enough time given. She is very tough grader. Even if you kill yourself to get an A, you ll get a B, the maximum. Useless class overall.
She goes WAY TOO FAST. There is only so much that we can take in for a class that has no correlation with our majors. Her explanations and lecturers are taught in a way where she understands, not students. Her lecturers are not designed with the students needs in mind. Other classes were full and I needed this class, or else i wouldn't have
Kaba is a nice woman who tries her best to teach what she's passionate about. Sadly, she is a bit unorganized and does not teach too well. Her hand writing is a bit sloppy and her lectures are confusing. Her tests are packed and can be pretty difficult. You gotta study on your own time to really do well in this class. Use ACDC leadership.
I regret taking Kaba for my Econ class. She is truly the most unorganized and thoughgrader teacher I have ever had. She is very out dated and uses 30 year old statistics and numbers in the class which is really useless in 21st century and technology era. She ruined my 4.0 GPA and she ignores you in the class if you ask her questions.
Tests will take up the whole class time. If you need help, visit her office hours. She is an amazing teacher who is fair and helpful. Don't be afraid to ask questions in class. Might get extra credit!
The hardest professor I've ever had. She's unorganized and hard to follow. She states that Economics can have numerous effects, but always looks for one or two specific answers. If you try to argue your opinion you won't convince her. I probably only got an A because she liked me, but I suggest you take another professor instead. Nice, but hard.
Kaba is an intelligent professor, but not the best professor. Her class is fair though as long as you do the work she assigns you. Her tests are thorough, she wants you to explain everything, and for good reason. It's easy to get lost, so I suggest you go to the Learning Center if you need help.
If you skip lecture, you will absolutely not pass. Professor Kaba is strict, but fair. She wants you to understand what happens in the short term. She acknowledges that there are many many correct answers, but that won't work in the classroom environment, so she focuses on what happens first. If you need help, go to the GCC tutor center
Kaba is a really nice professor & will help you if you don't understand something but she goes way too fast in her lectures. Her lectures are heavy, so much info! Her handwriting is messy, it is hard to understand. You need to pay attention & NOT MISS or you wont pass. Tests are extremely hard and long. If you do not need this class DO NOT TAKE IT.
The exams are hard. There are a lot of articles to read. She also recommends to read the book. There are 2 group assignments. Her grading is vague and unorthodox. Prepare yourself before class by going over articles and notes, pay attention, and don't miss class.
Hello there, I am currently in Mrs. Kaba's Economics 102 class; I can honestly say that she is one of the kindest professor I have ever had, nay, kindest teacher. She also explains the material very well, but this doesn't mean you should only rely on her lectures. Take notes, and read the chapters as well. You're in college, don't be lazy.
Her teaching style is very confusing and her writing is messy. Buying the textbook was useless because she uses her "own" methods. All of her test are difficult and confusing. I studied a lot for her class and still got a C in her class. Attendance is big in her class. Don't take her, she will hurt your GPA . Anyone else is better.
seriously really nice, but seriously hard. she explains the material well and you have to actually work hard to get an A, but what do you expect. she grades fair and all of her quizzes are take home, giving you about a week to complete them. she's a nice person and really respect her a lot for her work.
Look. This professor is nice and knows the material very well. Just want to point out: this was one of the hardest classes that I've taken in my 2 years at GCC... We went through 12 chapters, with the last few chapters rushed in a few weeks before the final exam. Its pretty HARD. If you think you're smart and disciplined and can handle it, then ok.
she's really one of the most knowledgeable econ professors here at gcc, love her so much. yes she's a little tougher, but its not like its unbearable. ppl who write the negative reviews need to realize they're in college. also if you take her, i recommend going to her office hours, really helps you learn more and makes her like u a lot.
She is the best teacher. We had just three exams. Every tests are Scantron.
Professor Kaba is one of the nicest professors I've ever had. She cares about the students, and is readily available to talk outside class. She gave me a private lecture once when I missed a day of class! That said, she can be hard to understand, and lacks clarity sometimes. And her handwriting is awful. You need to work hard and ask questions.
Although Professor Kaba is kind and willing to meet outside of class in office hours, she is very unclear in her lectures. Her handwriting is abysmal and cannot be read, and she rarely uses the book, which further complicates her lectures. Do not take this class.
I go to UCSD now, but I enjoyed professor Kaba's class immensely at GCC. If you go to class and you do the homework, you'll pass with an A. I don't really have any major gripes about her except for ONE thing: the way she teaches economics does not prepare you for what economics is in a four year university. Econ is math, and she teaches no math.
One of the toughest teachers I have ever had. Her teaching method is so confusing and very unclear. She makes you buy an Access Code while it is 100% useless. She is a nice person but not a good teacher. She ruins your GPA.
one of my favorite professors. The people who complain about her don't try enough and don't realize they need to put in the effort to get an A. she's a great teacher that understands the material well and teaches it effectively. i admit, her writing and accent could be tough but you can ask her to repeat it or go to her office hrs to ask her
the book is useless, she doesnt give homework, doesn't go over tests. her study guide is not helpful. I saw tutors, went to office hours, read a different textbook, and got a C. Don't take her, it is not worth stress and disorganization.
She does a terrible job at teaching & she often gets confused so when she messes up, students are more confused. Her penmanship is horrible so it makes things harder to understand & she doesn't explain things thoroughly during lecture. We never reference the textbook in class, so you're pretty much on your own. She's sweet, but not a good teacher.
Caba is sweet and loves economics but she needs to work on teaching plans. The last four chapters were squeezed into the last week, literally. This was my first B in college. Material isn't hard. graded on five homeworks, 2 midterms, group project, and final. take every assignment seriously, they will impact you greatly.
Dont take this class, You dont learn anything her handwriting is garbage, she is a HORRIBLE teacher, like HORRIBLEEEEE I dont understand how she hasnt been fired yet. You have to work EXTREMELY hard to maybe get a C. I promise you its not worth it TRUST ME PLEASE.
Absolutely terrible, deserves to get her teaching license revoked. We went the whole year without knowing what we got on exams until months after we took them, she submitted grades and we dont even know what we got an assignments or the final exam which was taken a month ago.
This professor is kind however, she is not a good teacher. I am lost half the time, her handwriting is horrendous, and she isn't clear on any of the topics. The only perk is she is a very easy grader and curves the grades because she doesn't want her students to fail, and for her to look bad. Tests are very hard, even though u will prob pass.
One of the sweetest professors, however the course is quite challenging. Her lectures are informative, and interesting. Her tests are not easy, however if you take notes & go to her office hours you should be fine. She wants her students to do well, so she takes your opinion into consideration. Overall you have to work hard to receive a good grade.
Worst professor at GCC! Most of the professors at GCC are gems. How is she still teaching? I would routinely fall asleep in class because of how boring she is. I feel sorry for not only her, but for the students that have to take her. Run for the hills!
Straight up worst professor at GCC. Her lectures are boring and monotone. It is like she is lecturing to herself. Most of the time I couldn't make out what she was writing or hear her. Take anyone but her. Shame on GCC!
Literally ONE OF WORST professors I have ever had here at GCC. She made the whole semester hard on the students from her handwriting, to her lectures, monotone voice, tests, etc. She does not keep your grades up to date, you will have to wait until the end the semester to see what your grade is in the class. DO NOT take her class at all.
Professor Kaba is a great person. Took time out of her schedule to help me the day before an exam.
whatever you do, DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESOR. She is the most horrible and unorganized professor I've ever taken. You will not know your grade throughout the class until she submits it after the semester, she does not give you any resources to succeed throughout the class and she is extremely misleading when you email her or ask her questions.
Literally one of the worst professors I have taken. She lectures through pronto so she doesn't keep up with the chat if people have questions. Her handwriting is horrible and she doesn't make sense half the time. FORGET TRYING TO REACH HER OUT OF CLASS, she will leave you on read.
Worst class I have ever taken. She asked the class to buy the textbook, we haven't used it. She lectures with hand drawn pre done equations, so you don't learn how its done. Her handwriting is impossible to read. She doesn't show you how to do a single thing. Just says "Look here" and explains verbally an already drawn graph or math equation.
Heres my list: extremely unorganized, monotone voice, handwriting of a 3rd grader, tough grader, very boring lectures and videos, will never respond to your emails, uses pronto (bad), doesn't grade assignments, doesn't announce assigned homework, everything is unreadable upsidedown or scuffed, you have to teach yourself, tests are hard, and more...
She is by far the worst professor to ever be allowed to teach. She assigns homework that is vague and isnt understanding.
Professor Kaba is the best professor that I have ever had. I took both Econ 101 and 102 with her and I passed with A in both courses. She is extremely caring professor. The only thing that you need to do is to participate during the lectures and be careful. The course is very challenging, so you need to put a lot of efforts.
