This teacher is pretty cool. She knows what she is talking about and she is helpful. She expects alot out of you. She is kinda strange, but all around she is a good teacher.
She's not great, but she isn't that bad either. You will have to put some effort into her classes. She doesn't explain the assignments very well, leaving you to figure it out for yourself.
She is extremely helpful. We were constantly writing papers, but it helped me to become a better writer. I would highly recommend her
She is extremely helpful. We were constantly writing papers, but it helped me to become a better writer her class requires a lot of work. I would highly recommend her.
she's ok. If you're not a very good writer, her class will be helpful; however, if you're a proficient writer the class is boring. I took her honors comp class and was bored to tears.
She is really easy!!
I thought she was a good professor. She does have you write a lot of papers, but she gives you pretty much weeks in between to do them. She is helpful to you if you seek her help. She criticizes, but she she isn't mean about it. I recommend her if you like English.
Caroline is great! She was very helpful and had conferences before all but the first paper. She gave you the changes you needed to make on the paper to get a good grade. Her dear caroline letters every week are easy points.
writing assignments are pretty easy, comfortable subjects.
Great teacher, had her for ENG 111 and made sure to have her again for 113. Excellent discussions, helpful inside classroom and during office hours. Loves to see students succeed. VERY down to earth!
Loved her!!! Great sense of humor and keeps class interesting. Doesn't put up with a lot of "high school" attitudes. I even learned to enjoy poetry!!!!
Caroline was mellow and helped me learn to be a better writer. I would recommend her. Easy on the eyes, too.
Good overall teacher but hypocrtical on whether or not she can send us a message the night before class and expect us to get, while if we send her a msg before class she won't check it till the day after
You get out what you put in. If you are looking for an easy A, then look elsewhere. If you want to hone your skills as a writer, then Caroline will be extremely helpful. One of the best instructors at Sinclair.
I had Caroline for English 111 and at first she seemed mean but she is actually very nice and does not hold grudges. She is a a great teacher who is very helpful with writing papers. She is very clear with her assignments and meets one on one with students to discuss your papers for revisions. We learned effective essay and memoir writing techs
Excellent instructor if you really want to learn.
She comes off as very tough at the beginning. After a few classes and a lot of students drop, she opens up and becomes way more relaxed to those that remain. Great teacher. I highly recommend her. I enjoyed her class very much.
Being blatantly absent from class and doing other things while she is teaching bothers her. She is a good teacher, she just wants her students to pay attention to what she is saying during lectures because otherwise she feels like she is wasting her time. If you have a problem with paying attention, go somewhere else.
If you don't do your work she will call you out in class. I think she's extremely disrespectful to the class, and is hard on grading. I did fairly well but honestly I hate her. I feel like her class was a waste of money.
Teacher was dreadful. The way she talked to you, to the way sure graded and taught. Sure made herself feel superior to you, yet this was just ENG 1101. I'm here to learn not to be disappointed. I applied myself and showed up to 95% of my classes, yes I got a B. I felt I didn't learn anything. It felt like it did work, and didn't get paid for it.
Mrs. Caroline isn't a bad teacher. Yes, it's work it's a writing class. I mean I'm not the best writer and I got a A/B in her class; I'm not sure yet. She will help u learn how to become a better writer. Coming to class is a MUST!!! I learned a lot from her. She will help u if u ASK for help. She isn't the easiest but she isn't the hardest either.
She knew what she was doing, she is very good at English. However, she is very judgmental, condescending, and rude. I wouldn't take her class again.
Mrs. Reynolds is a very hard professor... rude and condescending. You MUST be in class... her grading system is very different in that if you don't include something in your paper that is supposed to be(even if it's just one thing), you automatically get dropped to a C. And she likes to assign more homework. I would definitely NOT recommend her!!
Mrs. Reynolds definitely knows how to help you become a better writer, no question. However she does sometimes tend to be a little harsh. Overall, she does a fine job. If you have her, just be prepared to work fairly hard for a good grade. She does explain that there is work involved, so don't complain about it once it happens to you.
Rude and condescending. Acts like she knows a lot more about everything than all of her students. The best way to describe her is more of a high school teacher than a professor at college, little respect for students. She allows you to chose your own topic but if she doesn't like the topic or doesn't find it interesting, your grade will suffer.
LOVE this teacher! She is helpful and makes all of the assignments easy to understand. If you need help, she is there. She has a dry sense of humor and her class is laid back. It's my first college English course, and while I've had to work hard, she has made it enjoyable.
At the beginning of the semester I had my doubts about Caroline, but as time went on I gained a lot of respect for her. She's an awesome Professor and will help anybody who asks for it. She makes you work for your grade and we had our disagreements, but overall I really enjoyed our time together. Hope all is well! You will not regret her class!
nonononono. Do not recommend!!
My favorite class of the semester by far. You definitely have to show up and participate, but if you listen, she'll basically tell you how to pass her class. Watch out for he "Dear Caroline" letters- don't blow them off. They add up quickly and when you don't do them, she notices.. you don't want to get on her bad side.
Good teacher.
NO. Super rude teacher, she's right about everything and don't get on her bad side. Tough grader- takes off unnecessary points. Oh, and if she personally doesn't like the topic you're writing about on a paper, no matter how well written it is- expect nothing more than a D. 010 stars do NOT recommend.
Caroline knows what she's doing. You have to follow her grading criteria very closely and show up to class... Don't get on her bad side and turn things in on time and you'll do just fine.
Caroline knows what she's doing. You have to follow her grading criteria very closely and show up to class... pay attention and don't make her mad and you'll do just fine.
I enjoyed Caroline's class although I never recieved an A on any of my papers. She is always fair in her grading and easily points out your errors in your writing or explains to you why you recieved the grade you did.
I tried pretty dang hard on all the discussions and essays, and always wrote more than was expected, but pretty much never got an A on anything. She is very critical , which can be a good thing, but it's always nice to hear at least one good thing about your work - but you won't get this from her. She can be vague with the essay descriptions.
must attend each class, she knows her stuff. If you take the time and talk with her on your papers she will work with you and make sure you get a good grade.. Passed this class with flying colors all to her helping me along the way! Amazing teacher I would absolutely recommend!
Caroline is a rough grader, but she makes her expectations clear. Do the work and show up to class... you've got a good chance of passing. Listen to her advice, if you keep making the same mistakes, she will not be happy with you. You want to stay on her good side!
She can be tough with her grades, but she is fair. Her expectations are very clear, and her rules are simple. Her feedback is incredible, it's very clear the amount of time she invests in her work. Just show up to class, pay attention, and do your assignments, you'll enjoy her class!
Caroline is a no-nonsense professor. She's a very touch grader, and she'll make you write a lot, which sucks initially. But she knows how to help students who actually care find their feet and get them running. If you actually care, she'll be hard on you, but you'll thank her four it.
I love Carolina's class! You have to show up and she is very clear about her expectation of you. Gives wonderful feedback and I got an A on every paper I wrote for her.
The course content was clear, but professor was difficult to reach outside of class. Very rude when she did reply. She does not leave feedback, even when she gives you a D for an important essay. You'll have to specifically request feedback for every assignment or else never know what you did wrong. Be prepared to teach yourself.
Everything was pretty clear, but going through the course feedback was hardly provided. Professor is a very tough grader. I would definitely not take any of her classes again. Hard to please and is very picky.
This class is nothing but papers. She thoroughly goes through each paper and makes it clear what is expected. They were a bit challenging, but never more than about 6 pages. The class was pretty easy going for the most part. She does not come off as a very positive energetic person, but she is very nice and understanding.
Knows what she's doing, but rude and judge mental, doesn't understand the needs for her students, let us choose a topic for a writing assignment but if she doesn't like it she will humiliate you in front of class and doesn't let you speak your mind or opinion, says rude remarks
This teacher is the most horrible teacher I've ever taken in my life! Two times I've taken her class and I didn't pass. I did fine on two of my essays, got a passing grade for participation, got a passing grade for most of my assignments, only missed two assignments. And still, she denied me of a passing grade. DO NOT take her.
HORRIBLE. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. she is so rude and judgemental and attacks half the class and not the other. Very very very rude. Knows shes in the wrong but still is evil.
Professor Reynolds is a brilliant professor. I was nervous about taking English as it has never been my strongest subject, but she really was a wonderful teacher. She gave us one on one conferences for each paper and that's honestly why i passed. She does give a good amount of homework, but its all dealing with papers, no extra random things.
Overall, she was a bad professor. Very strict and rude. She would personally attack some students in front of the whole class.
not respected of feedback. rubric not clear, followed rubric and received bad grading. had to do an evaluation per her request and received a C on it. Not super personable, always seems to be in a bad mood, not very positive. doesn't give examples to know what she wants in her assignments. would not Recommend
Had 2-4 discussion posts every week (it was an online class), VERY tough grading on all. Barely provided feedback, and if she did, it was feedback on what you did wrong- no insight on how to correct it. Had a demeaning tone in everything she did, like she thought she was better/ knew better than you (we get it, youre the teacher). Dont take her.
Professor Reynolds gets a lot of crap from students who feel entitled to not doing their work. She wants you to succeed and she will assist you with anything you are struggling with. I have had Caroline for 2 classes and I specifically took another class with her because I enjoy her teaching methods. I highly recommend her classes.
I loved Ms. Reynolds. Instructions and expectations were clear, she was always available to help, and the resources she gave us really taught me a lot. She assigned a LOT of reading, as in 80-100 pgs a week, so be warned. But, the reading was good and applicable and it was a lit class, so expected. Feedback was always detailed and nice.
I was dreading this class because it was online, but she gave a good amount of feedback and was really nice when I needed help. I would recommend. Don't know about her in person classes.
I understand that English and writing is not my strong suit, but I was eager to learn more. I stopped going to her class because she was condescending and rude, and talked to us like we were toddlers. I triple checked to make sure I never had this professor again this semester. Do NOT take this class.
This lady was awful. So rude, even online. Nothing you do can be right, she always finds something to say you do wrong. Reading is certainly not my strongest subject and I always ask myself why I took this class, but no matter how hard I try something is always wrong. She gives you at least 100 pages to read per week. Do not sign up with her.
Submitted an assignment worth 18% of the class's final grade, and I received a zero. A. ZERO. Granted, the work I did was probably not "A" material, but to not even be given a single point was unbelievable. And in the feedback (a very hash feedback giver, by the way, HYPERcritical), she called that zero "a very generous grade".
Despite having a rubric for discussion posts, her grading was random. I would submit assignments I worked on for days not knowing if I would receive a 70% or a 90%. Purposefully hid requirements for assignments in different tabs and took a letter grade off of everyone's project who missed them (all but 1 student did). This class cost me my 4.0 gpa.
I am not one to complain but this professor is by far the worst professor I've ever had. I emailed frequently to profess my confusion on topics, as through an online class you would think her response time would be in a timely manner, as it wasn't. Her responses to the grades are very backhanded and condescending. She hands out 70% for fun.
Writing has never been my strong suit and she has shown that to me throughout this course. I did get some good grades but not all of them. Her grading criteria isn't very clear and she isn't really good at explaining things to the class. Another thing is that she doesn't post sample essays on elearn, and looking at things usually helps me out.
I was excited to take this class, She can be nice and sometimes helpful when it comes to reworking papers but she relies heavily on favoritism. She uses political articles to sway students and when you try to argue she gives nasty feedback. She treats the class more like high schoolers then adults. I would not take this class ever again.
It is a literature class after all, though between the 500+ pages you have to read each week (some better than others) and doing 2-3 discussion posts in my opinion seems a little MUCH for 3 credits. I would have given her a great if it weren't for minimal feedback on posts but you do get a rubric, and she is available and willing to work with you!
Worst professor that I've ever had. Her grading rubric is very odd. She is also very picky over what you turn in, and even if it's A material she'll find a small issue to drag your grade down. DO NOT PICK A CLASS WITH HER IN IT!!!!
Condescending, clearly not built for online teaching. I have always been at the top of my class in English and I got a terrible grade in her class. I never missed any assignments. She grades rough drafts like you're going to Harvard. Provides the worst feedback. You can tell she is on a power trip. She needs to work on her communication skills.
Caroline has an emphasis on social justice in her course, i didn't mind this but it is not for everyone.... so if you are not someone who would enjoy that take a different professor. You do have to apply yourself for a good grade she doesn't just hand out 100% on assignments.
Caroline has an emphasis on social justice, if this is not for you choose a different professor. You must put in effort for a good grade you will not receive an A "just for trying", you need to apply yourself and make good revisions to show you are learning and trying to become better.
You have to be ready to evolve as a writer. Very lecture heavy, but good interaction. Tough grader, but gave good feedback on drafts so that the final paper was well formed.
Her grading rubric is arbitrary as she bases it on how she feels and when she gives feedback you can tell she doesn't actually read the papers well enough as things she says aren't included were within the 1st paragraph. She very much shows favoritism so much even in small classes will devote all of her time to one student who didn't ask for help.
This professor was exremely liberal, taught me nothing about improving my english papers and instead focused on political topics as grading criteria. Many of these assignments were very geared at racial issues, something i would have preferred to hear in a current social problems course
She will respond to class announcements, graded items, and emails in a passive-aggressive way. Though she gives relatively decent feedback, she has a random rubric she follows. When I attempted to correct her in an email, she sounded rude & I never emailed her again. When you go in-depth to talk about a story, she will say it's "too much to read."
She is extremely rude and talks down to students! One day in group projects she kicked me and my group out because we finished our discussion and she said it was clear we weren't doing anything. When I tried to explain to her we w
She is extremely rude and talks down to students! One day in group projects she kicked me and my group out because we finished our discussion and she said it was clear we weren't doing anything. When I tried to explain to her we were done she walked away while I was mid sentence! She is extremely liberal and will work that into any assignment too!
Her class is geared towards social justice which I personally love. It makes the Essays that much easier to write as I'm passionate on this subject. She also gives audio feedback on all essays which I've never had before. She doesn't judge anyone for not being on the same side as her on social justice nor does she treat anyone differently.
She focuses many of the assignments on social justice issues, which she defines in very leftist terms. The teaching is mostly focused on meeting the requirements of each assignment rather than learning how to write better. Grades fairly. Fairly strict in class.
The absolute worst. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS. She will criticize you for not agreeing with her strong liberal agenda, and will give you bad grades if you don't have the same opinion as her. She will give backhanded replies to questions, unless you are as big of a liberal as she is. Had to drop the class. Likes to load on the work and give bad grades.
The absolute worst. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS. She will try to force her strong liberal opinions on you and will give bad grades if you don't agree. Gives backhanded responses to questions unless you're as big of a liberal as she is. Had to drop the class. Terrible experience.
Professor gives thorough feedback on papers and projects. She was very encouraging, helping me go deeper into class material and encouraging me to try the honors sections of classes. She was accessible by email outside of class.
Genuinely wanted to love this class, but Prof. Reynolds made that impossible. Most weeks have multiple discussion posts or assignments plus heavy reading loads. Prof. is also an extremely tough grader and sends condescending voice message feedback on essays/ large assignments. I would recommend taking a different course if you can.
If you're taking this class with this professor… RUN. There are constant assignments, 5-page essays, and she'll find mistakes even when your work feels perfect. Dealing with her is hard. She mentioned half the class dropped by the end. I'd feel stressed just knowing her class was the next day. It's mentally draining and not worth it.
I asked her to read my thesis statement in class for my rhetorical essay. In class she said I have a working thesis statement, but after I received my grade for my final draft in the comment she stated I don't have a working statement. Similar things happened with my other essays. I don't understand where the 5 stars are coming from.
She's very disrespectful in her tone. I believe that she can be more professional when interacting with students. Not a great motivator and someone that operates on positivity. She vibes from just being in power over the students. Please don't take her class!
This class is not designed for anyone who isn't an English major. She expects you to know things way beyond basic knowledge and will not explain things to you. She is very condescending when speaking to students and will speak down to you in front of everyone in the class. She is very homework heavy.
Terrible. Gives 20 or 40% on many assignments for little reason.
She gave me a 10/100 on an essay because she said it didn't sound like a student voice. she is very difficult to work with and extremely rude when it comes to emailing. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR!!!
Truly, I have no problems with her. She explained things great, now with some things she did expect us to know, even though we weren't taught about it. However, she thought we knew about it. She was great to get along with though. Yes, she is VERY LIBERAL but, if it got too political I wouldn't participate. Participation is huge.
Prof. Reynolds can be abrupt and uptight, but genuinely just wants to see students succeed. If you don't take things too personally and put in the effort, you should be okay. The course has a variety of main assignments, instead of just a bunch of essays. It's a lot of reading, but it is a LIT class, so it's to be expected. Overall, great prof!
