Professor Sampson is an excellent teacher. You don't need the book, but the CD's are defiantly a must. More of a hands on training with presentations via Powerpoint, listening and so forth. If you pay attention to both the Professor and Powerpoints/Material, you will have a great time. She is a music major so she knows what she is talking about.
You dont need your book to pass. I never bougt one and passing. Very easy class, just need to pay attention. Prof is a little wierd and sometimes wound up tight but class is good.
Ms. Sampson is very rounded in her subject matter. I learned more music history than i though possible. She is very easy also, her quizzes are so easy they're dumb. It helps if you have a little musical background. She only requires two concert reports and a research paper on any topic in music. She's a good teacher.
a good teacher, rude sometimes. has her funny moments. an easy A if you do your work, write good papers, and prepare for tests. she uses excellent tools from online sources such as youtube to show examples.
At the beginning, I enjoyed her class. Her long powerpoints are boring and I ended up dreading going to this class. She stays until the FINAL minute even if the last part of her lesson is a child's video. It's an easy A. The quizzes are dumb/easy. I recommend her but get ready for a boring class. She lets students sleep. Take advantage of that.
Don't text in class... she gets really pissed off... Easy A, do all the worksheets, write two good concert critiques, and try to make it to every class... again.. easy A!!!
This class was really easy, but the teacher is horrible. She is rude and disrespectful. She would make you feel stupid in front of the whole class. It's an easy A if you don't mind being degraded. She's plays favotites. She'll yell at one person for talking, but then allow another to have a full conversation with someone. The work was easy though.
I really liked this professor. The things she gets ticked off about is having to babysit adults. People who come to her class and then run their mouths or use their phone is just plan immature. You are in college people. If you show her respect, she will show you respect. That's the bottom line. The course materials are inexpensive and fun.
At first I was I thought I was in over my head but the way The material presented and explained made it the most enjoyable class all semster. Take this class to add to your overall roundness of music.
I liked Prof. Sampson a lot. f you do the work, you can totally get an A. It was a fun class.
Professor Sampson's class was extremely fun and interesting. She was very down-to-earth and understanding. If you go to class everyday and do all of your assignments you will get an A! You are required to do a service learning project as a group 10-12 hrs. She's an awesome professor hands down!
Professor Sampson striked me as the scariest person ever on the first day. I was so scared and was going to drop it, but after thinking about it I decided to give it a chance and I'm glad I did. Sampson amazes me with all her knowledge and her way of thinking. She's a bit sarcastic and cynical but it made her entertaining. Very opinionated too.
Best professor at Kent Campus, well between her and Kelly Warren who teaches english. Anyway great course, fun class, and i learned a alot from her. Great person as well. If you do your work you will get an A. Like was already said, she is not a babysitter so if you cannot act right and want to be a child do not take her course.
Show up to every class and get an A. She is great
This class is impossible to fail. She talks to us on a professional level and yet she makes me feel like we're friends. She's very casual and knows what she's talking about. My favorite class this semester! Not a lot of book work involved. She doesn't even let you write during class. You just listen to music! How awesome is that?
AT beginning after seeing the syllabus, I was going to change but it turned out not to be so bad. She uses a paperback for text book , great($7) and 1 required reading book (rented) .She's talkative but nice. Not too hard to get a good grade. Boring at times but informative. Enjoyed the music.
This is a fun class with an awesome professor! I ended up learning more from this class than my other 3 classes combined regarding the history of music and history in general. Professor Sampson is great, just make sure that you keep up with your syllabus, and ask what day your listening quiz is on during your first class session.
The first day of class is somewhat intimidating. Her syllabus is VERY overwhelming BUT it contains EVERY piece of information you need for class. You have a quiz on Tuesday and a paragraph due every Thursday (both are VERY Easy). Do your work, show up to class and you'll do great. Her lectures are interesting and she's a very smart woman. Easy A!!!
By far one of my favorite classes that I have ever taken. She can be a bit intimidating at first, but once you get in the hang of things it's not so bad. She gives you every piece of information you need to know for the course. So no surprises! All you have to do to get a good grade is study the music, do the work, and have a sense of humor
Very fun and informative. She is a great professor. You will come away from her class with an open mild toward music and other aspects of history that involves music. I loved this class.
I had her for Calc. for Bus. majors. She is so funny and makes the classroom a easy place to learn but also to have fun.
This was Prof. Sampson's 1st semester Stats Class. I was nervous about the choice; however I was quickly aware that she would be a great resource. She takes time to explain and explain again if needed. She also keeps it interesting would definitely recommend her!
Professor Sampson is awesome! She really cares about her students, but don't get me wrong you will work for your grade. She offers TONS of extra credit throughout the semester. I had so many bonus points that I didn't have to do the last 3 assignments including the final. On tests you can have one sheet of written notes. I definitely recommend her!
Professor Caroline was a dynamic Professor. She was extremely helpful, she took her time with each of her students & her personality was not itimadating (like some Professors)! She was very pleasent, her attitude was cheerful and she was also very encouraging. You won't go wrong being taught by her.
Great class. Take good notes. Do your homework on time. Study. Cool beans.
Professor Sampson was great! I took the class over summer (which don't do!) very intense because I am awful at math and it took me twice as long! She was great though, very helpful and reassures you throughout the entire class to not worry about your grade just focus on the math! She gives tons of ways to earn extra credit! Def take her!
Does not teach. Would not recommend her for anything.
All in all a good math professor all you have to do is show up, do your homework, and take good notes and there is no reason to not make a high mark.
Awesome! I'm so terrible at math but she made it so easy. Do the work and get an A! She gives you a preview of what the test will be. If you do a drill sheet problem on the board you get extra credit even if it's wrong! So helpful, even when I was doing homework in the mathlab she would come by and check and help. Giving tips to make it easier!
Awesomeeee Professor... Very clear, knows what she is doing. She also have a way of making what she is lecturing about very interesting to students.. Would take again.
Spoon feeds the class to you. You can print her entire lecture and just go listen. Can have a note sheet for every test. Each test is the practice test with different numbers. Opportunities for extra credit every class. Easiest A to achieve while actually learning the material.
Great teacher, great class. She puts extra credit into every assignment and you're allowed to have 1 sheet (front and back) of notes out during tests. By the end of the semester I had so many extra credit points built up that I didn't even have to take the final to pass with an A. Highly recommended!
i toke this as a hybrid class never thought to pass But i did it. she is really easy and helpful. one project wears only pink lol
Very helpful. Allows one page of notes for test. Do pre-test and homework and you will do great. Lots of extra credit. Would take again!
I wouldn't suggest taking this class if you have not taken intermediate algebra, because you will not be able to pass. The coursework is very heavy, but Professor Sampson is very willing to work with students to help you learn. Was the hardest class I've ever taken, due to so much coursework. The program she uses is the worst part, but I made an A.
Professor Sampson was awesome. There is one homework assignment every class only 8 problems. MyMathLab is essential to getting a good grade and understanding the information. Her pre-tests are basically the same as the test and you get to use one 'cheat' sheet on the test. Very nice lady and will most definitely help if needed.
This professor assigns a lot, and I mean a lot, of homework in ALEKS. The system ALEKS that she uses sucks and won't let you move on even if you are stuck on a problem. She doesn't teach and speaks to you in a very condescending manner. I was not impressed. Gives extra points to improve your grade due to her teaching.
she is a very good teacher and knows and loves math. The only think that I didn't like was a program that she uses called ALEKS . sHE GIVE A LOT OF EXTRA CREDIT and would helop you to pass the class with a good grade. Just go to EVERY class and do your homework and you will pass with and A.
Professor Sampson is amazing. She is very passionate about math therefore extremely knowledgeable. As a true professional, she expects you to take responsibility for your work. She does not expect you to be a genius. If you show her the determination to do the work, it will make a difference between a 69 or a 70. Truly a favored professional.
She was not helpful at all. When I e-mailed her, she would reply with a sarcastic, belittling comment. I was told that replying to e-mails was not a part of her job. I would NOT recommend her to anyone. She assigns an immense amount of homework, making it impossible to take another course with this one. She should not be teaching.
Great Prof! Teaching environment is very relaxed, no pressure at all (perfect for students like myself who are a bit intimidated by math). You will be given plenty of opportunities to earn extra credit. No reason at all not to get an A on this course unless you don't do the homework and projects assigned. 1010, would take this professor again.
Easiest A ever, as long as you do the online activities there is no way you can fail. Really nice but doesn't really give lectures, most of what we learn is from her online homework which teaches you, and we just do practice in class. You do need to ask for help if you need it, class usually gets out early too (textbook is online)
Professor Sampson is super helpful and really care about her students understanding math. She seems tough but really she's reasonable and has a warm jelly on the inside. She promotes student interaction. The program she uses is called ALEKS, and it actually helps you learn. Don't be afraid to ask questions!
I had her for Topics in College Math and you basically need to show up, do your homework and turn all your projects in on time. No tests for this course, just projects. It's an easy A.
First Math class I have ever received an A in and it's all thanks to professor sampson! She lays it all out for you and all she really wants is for you to do your best. She also didn't make us buy a book!
Out of the many ,math professors I have taken, she is the best.. I actually looked forward to going to this class.. I have never said that about a math class before. If you are, like me, and have trouble with math, take this class..
If you struggle in Math, Prof. Sampson is the perfect professor for you! All you have to do is show up to class, do the in-class assignment, do one homework assignment, and some project, and that is it! No test or quiz ever! This was the first math class I ever received 106 A+! I highly recommend you taking her class! You will not regret it at all!
She's okay but if you show up to class be prepared to the know the material before you go to class it will be tough to learn if you don't understand her lecture. Be aware that in this class you will not have a computer in front of you so you will have to do Alekes at home overall she is nice but the teaching is okay
Professor Sampson is an amazing teacher. This class is self taught mostly, and the in class work offers an abundance of extra credit. She does help you if you don't understand. Class usually lets out early. I took the class in a computer lab so we could do a lot of our work in class.
I took the 8 week class for her, and it was pretty straight forward. Be on class everyday because in class work is actually the extra credit. Very easy to get an A if you do as much work in each chapter as you can.
All lectures where done online. I could've taken this class online. We did some exercises in class but everything you learn here is self taught. You really have to pay attention and study your materials online to be able to pass this course.
Prof Sampson is really nice if you pay attention and do your work. For this course, there were no test or quizzes. Your grade is only HW, Classwork, and projects which most take place in class. Easy A if you do all your work. Attendance isn't required but there is some projects in class that can't be made up if absent. Very nice & I would recommend
Prof Sampson is an amazing teacher. i have taken more than one of her classes. Go to class participate in class assignments and you will learn a lot and pass her class, also do your Aleks online homework. She is always available to help you. You wont be sorry if you take any of her classes.
Professor Sampson is great, especially if math is not your strong point. Her grading method is genius. I would highly recommend her to anybody.
Professor Sampson is FANTASTIC. She is charismatic, and a thorough teacher when she "lectures". The class is all participation and grading is based on points, not percentages. Professor Sampson is excellent at one-on-one teaching and is easy to reach outside of class hours for help. There need to be MORE professors like her.
Professor Sampson's homework and schedule are an absolute mess. She has us reading chapters and doing tons of homework based only on what we've read. This is the same thing as an online class. She only covers the chapters days after we've finished the homework. Her teaching style makes no sense to me! I do not recommend taking her class!
I LOVE MS. CAROLINE!! I would take her for Stat, but she wasn't available. She is extremely funny, but do not be on your phone or laptop in her class! If you miss class you will miss in-class work and a chance at extra credit. So you're better off coming. You don't need your textbook because most of the stuff is on Aleks. Deff. should take her!
Ms. Sampson is extremely passionate about seeing her students succeed in LIFE! Her class is intricately thought out, and the lessons are geared toward real life applications. Class participation and communication skills, combined with teamwork are the traits Ms. Sampson promotes. She is compassionate, understanding, and genuinely cares.-DGY
The best professor Ive ever had! Very fun class. Take this class if you need college algebra, you wont regret it!
I took her for MAT1033. Expect to use youtube videos to teach yourself math. She made it clear in the first class that as adults we will teach ourselves. No lecture. Professor is available to answer questions. Entire semester is online and you can finish whenever. This may be good for someone that has strong math skills. If you don't stay away.
The only good thing about Professor Sampsons class is that theres extra credit. Everything is basically online through Lumen OHM and she does not lecture in class but if you do come to class you can get extra credit by solving problems on the board. LOTS OF HOMEWORK!
Concerned to her whole class.
This was like the most easiest class I have ever taken for a math class. Professor Sampson is an awesome professor and didn't make the class tough, it was actually pretty easy. But you have to make time to practice the lectures and ask questions if you don't understand something. I totally recommend taking this professor, she is really great.
A good amount of homework, but most of it was pretty easy to understand once watching the videos provided. We mostly just did simple group assignments during class that took about 30 minutes to finish and easy to understand if the homework for that week was done. Also the least amount of money I've ever spent for an access code.
Best teacher ever!!
Caroline told us at the beginning of the semester that she would make math our fave subject in 7 weeks and she did! Caroline is very laid, caring and more than willing to help when you need it. All assignments are online based with the exception of a few group activities in class. There are many EC opportunities just show up and complete work.
Mrs. Sampson is an awesome teacher. She doesn't lecture much in class, and lets you work on the homework during the entire class. If you need help she will help, if you don't feel like showing up and can teach yourself that's fine too. I missed the majority of her classes and made over 100% in her class. I will be taking her class next semester too
Everything is online and easyso you don't need to come to class. I go to class though and you do activities every time. If you have any questions about the stuff online you can text the problem to her or ask her in class and she will show you how to do it. She is laid back I talk about random things in class and she doesn't care, no phones though.
Best teacher ever
Everything is online so she is there for any help you need. She gives you the option to message her personally by sending her a picture of a problem to help you at home. Sometimes she will spend a class period going over material that is difficult for the class. Every class perio, you do activities and can get extra credit. dont have to attend.
You earn an "A" just for participating. Literally, just come to class. Three tests were take home and she allowed us to work on the final as a class. Offers extra credit for solving homework problems on the board and for doing more homework than required. Also, she sets some assignments out of 0 points, meaning that you will automatically get EC.
You earn an "A" just for participating. Literally, just come to class. Projects were take home and you earned a 100% just for completion. Prof. Sampson is an amazing teacher. I take her online due to COVID and so far she seems very understanding. ALL of her work are due at the end of the semester, so you can do it whenever you want. She also replies fast to emails. Assignments and tests are super easy. Class is not mandatory. However, you have to teach yourself, but it's doable.
Took Online enjoyed her class, I am also taking her again in the spring. Highly recommend taking Prof. Sampson.
Professor Sampson makes MAC1105 simple and easy. The class while being mostly online is laid back and at your own pace. Professor Sampson is usually always available if the student has a question about an assignment, and is willing to help out. I will be taking Professor Sampson again in the spring semester, this time for Statistics (STA2023).
She is ok. I didnt like her teaching style but the videos are cool and you just gotta teach your self. Easy class for the credits.
I have now taken Professor Simpson twice for two different courses. The Professor makes it easy to learn the subject. You also do not have to buy the textbook for this course. Lectures were done this semester and definitely made the information a lot easier to learn.
Professor Sampson is as easy of an A that you're gonna get. The quizzes are exactly like the homework and the midterm and final are exactly like the quizzes. Everything is open book and not timed. Attendance wasn't mandatory but class time was when extra credit was available. She also gave 10 late passes, but try to not fall too far behind.
We used lumen for our homework. On tests and quizzes you were given three tries for each answer and it would tell you if you were correct right away, and you got 10 late passes for the entire year. She offered many extensions and is just overall very nice. She is also very LGBTQ+ friendly and always respected my pronouns, I literally love her!
What a great professor! I thoroughly enjoyed this honors STA2023 course. I learned a lot and Professor Sampson was very helpful throughout the entire semester. The quizzes were easy and the homework is basically like the quizzes. You will not regret taking her. She is awesome! Come to class, do your work and participate. Easy!
Great professor, genuinely cares about you learning the material, walks through problems you will see exactly on quizzes and tests. Program used online is LumenOHM for $25 for the class. No proctored exams, which takes the edge off being nervous about testing. Highly recommend, great personality!
Prof. Sampson gives lots of extra credit, she is very accessible, when you send her a message about any issues she responds immediately. What you do for homework is exactly what you will do for a quiz or a test. LumenOHM for $25 for the class. No proctored exams, which takes the edge off being nervous about testing. Is very hard to fail her class.
Ms. Sampson was the bomb. Used Lumen. Midterm and Final not proctored. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Really good at explaining math. Sets a good foundation. Class was not monotonous as she always switched up between groups and her points of attack. Forever grateful for being able to take her. Take Ms. Sampson. Roll tide
Terrible teacher. She was only interested in placing us in groups to teach each other instead of actually teaching herself! We had 2, 20 question quizzes for each chapter, 50 question practice exams to which a score of 80% or above is required in order to open the real test. The quizzes, practice test, test, and homework were all due on Sundays.
If you struggle with math, Prof. Sampson's class is perfect. She is clear in her expectations, provides video tutorials that help SO much, she's easy to reach when you need anything, and gives "late passes" that you can use on assignments you're struggling with to get more time. I wish I could have taken her again for my next math course.
Professor Sampson was incredibly kind. I took her 7A course, and it was definitely busy but only because that's how any 7-week course works. She was very helpful, encouraging, communicated quickly and clearly, and provided a generous amount of late passes. I would definitely take her again, just maybe not in a 7-week course.
I took College Algebra with Ms. Sampson because I followed the "amazing" reviews about her. Ms. Sampson doesn't lecture and expects you to take notes and teach yourself. She makes you feel incompetent when you do not know the material. If you want an easy A without comprehending the material, this class is for you.
I love her so much, she is literally the best professor ever and the class was super easy to pass, she really cares for her students and wants them to succeed. I will be tsking other classes she offers!!!
3 exams at home, drill sheets every class, some in class activities graded but mostly just going over drills. super easy and very helpful. responds to emails and will help if asked. Amazing teacher, definitely take her
I took this class online therefore I had no interaction with Prof Sampson. LOTS of homework however, the exams are not proctored therefore you can do them at your own pace. I was very thankful for that considering I am terrible at math. If you do all the work the class is an easy A.
She shows no respect for her students. Very lazy. You teach yourself. Don't waste money or time on this teacher.
Regret enrolling based on ratings alone. Professor expects self-learning and group problem-solving. Not ideal for introverts or slow learners. Had to withdraw. She thinks you should figure things out on your own! places two problems on the board, assumes you know the answers, and requires you to collaborate with others to find solutions
This class was terrible. Basically everyone cheated the entire time I'm sure because nothing is proctored. Great if you need to take it to get credit but if you plan on needing the info later in life - don't take it. Sampson does not teach. She is very hard to get a hold of and rather unaccommodating. She failed to show up to class more than once.
Great person, but terrible teacher. I paid to learn, not to have material read from a book and reviewed in class. She was only present 50% of the time. And it was hard to figure out when things were due. I don't recommend her, especially if you're not already familiar with statistics, or even if you are.
Syllabus was clear and easy to follow! I would highly recommend taking this course.
This professor is very sweet. She is very caring and cares about all of her students. This was an easy class and I plan on taking her again for college algebra.
I actually took MGF1130 with her and let me just say it was the easiest class I ever took. We do have a lot of of projects I would say I had about seven, but they were all super easy. She gives extra credit and she's very understanding on if you turn in an assignment late just communicate.
Amazing professor I took her in another class. This is the second class I'm taking with her and then I'm taking another one in the spring as well with her. If I could, I would take all of my math courses with her. She's an amazing professor, and you truly do learn in her class.
This professor assigns lots of homework every week, but she does not teach. I took her online in Spring 2024, and I basically watched YouTube videos to actually learn the material. Emailed her with a question once & her response had an off tone, and she didn't even actually answer what I had asked. I ended up withdrawing.
Caroline Sampson is a difficult teacher. She is non-communicative and everyone that takes her loves her because she turns a blind eye to cheating. Her class is a pay to play - you sign up, cheat, and pass but don't expect to learn anything. She does not teach! And does not care.
She literally just posted the work & that was it didn't hear from her again after day one. It was a self paced & self taught class all of the work is on lumen & you will watch a lot of videos on YouTube. The exams are not proctored. I had an 92 on my final exam. Do the work & you will be fine.
Very passionate and knowledgeable in this subject, but not the best at teaching. Classes are mostly guided notes/review into homework and videos online; very straightforward. However, she was late or missed almost every class and still expected a lot of self-learning and background knowledge. Take her class for the credit, but not to learn.
7 in-depth projects. Graded on attendance. Lots of content in statistics so I needed additional info to fully understand. Lectures don't cover all the content so you'll definitely need to read the textbook on your own or watch videos. She's understanding about deadlines. Be prepared to answer questions in class and collaborate in small groups.
Great person! Everything is on Lumen for this class and the program is helpful. Class participation is important. Google sheet skills are important! There's 7 projects and they can get overwhelming if you're not familiar with the program. She'll go over the projects in class if you're lucky. Math isn't my thing but this was a good class.
Wonder why everyone who takes Prof. Sampson says that she is easy and has an A and wouldn't take her again - because she doesn't teach and her class is literally a cheat fest. Don't expect to learn anything. She cancels class all the time. It's ok to take to get the credit but if you need to use stats or are a stem major, stay far away. Horrific.
Really tough teacher. Hard to get a hold of outside of class. She ignores you if you need help or have a time crunch. Once she goes non-responsive, good luck. Her decision is made and you aren't getting help Make good friends with AI to get you though and photo math. She is not caring and could really not even give a thought to if you pass or not.
Her class was ok I guess there is projects and all but there is no Communcation between the student and the teacher, Online course class doesn't teach u at all everything is self-taught which made me withdrawn and with the Communcation she does care and all, but she didn't help that much at all. wish i didn't withdraw the class but I had to
She is really laid back, do your work, and you will be fine. I did not care for the class itself. I took Mathematical Thinking, and it was the most boring class. Completely pointless, if you ask me. However, the professor herself is great,
Professor Sampson's online class, labeled “with lectures,” was misleading. There were no lectures from her—only email support for issues. While the course included example videos and was overall decent, it was mostly self-taught. Compared to other instructors who provide lectures in addition to materials, this course was much more difficult.
It really is a free for all in class when it comes to cheating. It is nearly impossible to fail her class. Attendance is mandatory. If you are actually looking to learn, I would go elsewhere.
Doesn't actually teach anything, basically you watch her do math problems on the board and she barely explains anything. She'll hand out worksheets and then play on the computer and expects students to just know what to do. Cancels class a lot! Prepare to self-teach. Homework, Quizzes, &tests are on Lumen, book is through Pearson. Do not recommend.
I took Professor Sampson's class online, and it was entirely self-taught. All of the coursework is on a platform called Lumen, which was easy to access and use. I liked how we were able to work ahead or at our own pace as long as we got the work done. The class is okay, try not to get behind on work because it can take a while to catch up!
Class was fully online and completely self-taught using Lumen. There are no proctored exams, good amount of work each week. Overall, it's a good class if you're comfortable teaching yourself and want to avoid proctored exams. She is available to reach out to if you do need help.
She doesn't teach the class, she just kind of sits on her computer and eats. Professor canceled class all the time, but expected us to show up and do the work. The professor hands you notes on the chapter and then she excepts you to know how to do things. If you want to pass with an A take her, but if you want to learn take someone else.
Her tone is usually off, but I think she is nice. She doesn't really teach though... it's up to you to teach yourself and learn. She cancels almost half of her classes. Impossible to fail the class. It is definitely not your traditional math class. If you just need the credit hours, it'll work, but I would go with a different professor.
Lots and lots of packets, also get ready to teach yourself as she doesn't lecture or teach instead she gives you packets of notes to do on your own.
I would not take her again. since i can say all that i want i'll just say that.
This professor cancelled class half way through the semester and frequently cancelled class minutes before our meetings. Her tone was condescending and she rarely taught anything. I honestly think she was drinking during class, as I heard the frequently heard cans cracking open off camera and she became more aggressive as class drug on.
