Good teacher, enjoyed class

VERY EASY AND A PRETTY FUN CLASS!

ok teacher, the avg student will get a B... she makes you read a book at the beginning that is horrible.. that is the only bad part...

Best teacher you can get. She is so nice and friendly, a little odd at times but she'll make you smile. Make sure you review before tests though, and take notes..there is no text book!

Have to read outside of class for the test. Gives notes in class on sociology and then a test on it at the end of the semester. Not a bad class, kind of boring.

Great teacher, I loved her. Don't take the class if you are not going to read, have to read 3 assignments on your own, and the notes in class is your last exam. She has a very weird and corny sense of humor but she is funny in her own way.

explains everything really clearly, extra credit for coming to class, cool quirky sense of humor, very upbeat, gives 4 different types of tests so that you have a good chance of doing well, one of my favorite classes here so far, didnt mind going to class

i never went to class, you have to study a lot for the tests, the end of the semester luckily i got all the notes from a friend and studied hard so i ended up with a B in her class

SHE IS A REALLY GREAT TEACHER. SHE IS UNDERSTANDING AND SHE WORKS WITH YOU IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE DONE BADLY AND SHE GIVES YOU LOTS OF CHANCES TO MAKE GOOD GRADES IN HER CLASS. I RECOMEND TAKING HER.

very sweet so down to earth. read the stories and you'll do fine study guide is REAL helpful. great person i like her views. really opens your mind up to see things from others point of view a mind once stretched will never go back to its orginal demsions.

She's a good teacher. There are only five tests and no exam, unless you missed a test. The test are word for word. All you have got to do is read the novels and take good notes in class. She even gives extra credit for coming to class.

i loved this class.she gives extra credit for coming to class, but thats not the reason why i came..her lectures are insightful and she really knows what shes talking about. She made the lectures interesting. everyone should do well in this class-she is one of my favorite teachers so far.

She really knows what she is talking about! She's somewhat corny, but makes class fun and interactive. Tests are little difficult but if you study you will get a good grade. She is really helpful!

The class seems unorganized and like she's pulling it out of her ass at the last minute... She can be interesting and I agree with her liberal point of view, but you can't push it but so much in class.... If you are a Republican, avoid her, If you are a Democrat, she is the professor for you!!!!

Her class turns into Socialism 101 over the course of the semester. Whenever we talked about certain issues she would give straw-man arguments for viewpoints that opposed her's. Otherwise, she's a very friendly person. Take careful notes and do not miss any classes.

I really liked her. she is very open minded and nice. her test are not that bad. people just don't like to study so they blame it on the teacher. she makes you thing about things in a different light. loved her!!!

For the reading, I hated the books, but the articles were very good. Regardless, if you've read them and answered the study guide questions the tests are a breeze.

I enjoyed this class. There is a good amount of reading for the class but it is not very hard. Dr. Schacht always kept the class interested. Not a very tough class but will require some work.

She's really cool. She keeps the class interesting. Everything she says is relavent to today and to life. Love the last book she assigned. I would recommend her to anyone who has to take this class.

She is definitely a strange character but fun!! Be prepared to get slammed if you're a conservative. If you read the assigned material and put forth some effort to learn the concepts, you will have no problems. Easy class!

ALOT OF READING!!!! This class was very interesting, but there is alot of outside reading. She is a kind of wierd lady, but lots of fun. Gives extra credit for coming 2 class.

I was a little shocked when I found out that this class required so much reading. She makes the class interesting though. Her tests were a little tricky sometimes with the way that she worded things, but overall my experience with her is a good one.

She is NOT rude. She's a little off the wall and yes, she is very liberal but she does not discriminate against those who aren't (like me). READ READ READ and you will do well.

I highly recommend schact, she is an awesome professor! If you read and go to class you will def get an A or B. I really enjoyed this class.

Schacht is a very good teacher who engages her students with her funny stories and her sense of humor. You can't help but listen when you are in class. The tests are fairly easy as long as you do the work, but you definitely need to go to class. She has a very strict attendence policy.

Mrs. Schacht is a good teacher, but the course in general requires reading from three different materials. By the time you finish one reading, you're beginnning another one. If you don't mind the reading, a pretty good course to take. Just make sure that you keep up with you readings on time!

Awesome prof. she keeps the class interesting and opens your mind to things that people dont always realize. really makes you think about how people think and what is going on around us. a fair amount of reading, but the tests are not that hard.

the course pack seriously did kill me... i am liberal and i even though she kicked some people in ass and stepped on some seriouse toes but the class is really what you make of it. personally sociology isnt my thing. it was just required for my major, but if you keep up with class youll be fine

She's flippin' awesome! Her class is always interesting and she teaches with examples that bring sociology to life and relevance. I recommend her to everyone all the time.

Overall she is a good teacher granted you do have to read four dif. things, just answer the question in the coursepack for the first book, take good notes on your coursepack, you can use those on the test, go to class and take notes and write down the examples she uses and, if you go to every class she gives 3 extra credit points the final grade

the engagement ring story is suppose to make you think. I agree it is so stupid to spend that much money on a rock. College is suppose to open your mind. i think that is what she wants of her students. If you want to remain in the same mind frame you came in with then don't take her, but i loved her and learned a lot. She is so nice and helpful

The Sociology of food class she teaches is the one of the best at ECU. You will leave that class with a whole new view of what you eat. You are provided study guides for the textbooks that take hours to fill out, but well worth it since you use them on the test.

She is a very very interesting teacher. She makes the class a lot of fun, it was the only class I actually wanted to go to. The only thing is that you have to do some outside reading which is worth it in the end. If you want a sociology class that blabs on about sociologists and the history of sociology, dont take this class. Shes really good!

She is an awesome teacher. She goes places other teachers dare to go (sometimes). She was an awesome teacher but you most do ALL the reading for the tests. She seems tough at first but I went to her office for help and she turned into a grandmotherly type and I truly felt comfortable around her. TAKE HER!!!

I really enjoyed this class. She makes it very easy to pay attention and is very enthusiastic. There is never a dull moment in the classroom! The books are not hard reading but the test on the books are difficult. Overall I would def. recommend her!

GREAT professor! Uses 2 books and a course pack and tests directly from that as well as class notes. Books are not a hard read....I read 3/4 of the last book the night before the test and got an A on it. Very enjoyable class overall; she always keeps it lively and gets the class involved. Def. recommend her.

Excellent teacher. taking her is a must. Just do the required reading and come to class b/c at the end she adds exta points onto final grade. This class can be taken blindfolded. she is so funny, always happy, never negative.

The class was pretty easy, although you have to read a few books if you study you should do fine. I got a B without trying that hard. Plus she is funny and a little crazy!

Great teacher and you learn a lot in the class. You have to do lots of reading for tests though. She also takes attendance and you get extra credit if you come to every class. She also dances on the last day of class and it's hilarious.

Awesome teacher! She's a little cooky but it makes class a lot more interesting. You can get extra credit by taking a syllabus quiz, by having your required materials on time, and by missing at the most 1 class. It's possible to get 5 pts for just that stuff. If you just do the work, you'll get a good grade. The readings aren't very interesting but

she is an excellent teacher that makes the class very interesting and keeps you awake. has alot of guest speakers that are very interesting. wish that she taught more classes because I would definetly take them

I am in her 1000 class right now and I must admit it is soooo fun.I have it at 9am and it's one of those classes that I actually look forward to going to. She is very interesting and makes you look at things in ways you never thought you would.

Professor Schact is the best teacher I have ever taken. I have never been so interested in one class in my entire life. She is so funny (kinda weird) but in a good way, if that makes sense. Her classes are NOT boring at all and there is NO homework except reading two books, which are pretty easy read. Her exams are incredibly easy. TAKE HER!

Great teacher!!!! She is so fun and will teach you alot if you pay attention. She loves what she tecahes and is very interactive with the class. The test are a bit confussing and if you go to ALL classes you get extra credit and the final is optional!! One of the BEST professors at ECU.

The class is pretty easy you just have to study and read. However, if you are remotely conservative you will get extremely annoyed by the readings/her. The subject itself is really pointless and over analyzes everything. RAGING LIBERAL.

She is a great teacher and really knows the material. Just read the books and do the review packets and you can make an A easily. Also it is important to do good on the first test because they only get easier and that can help lock in your grade with minimal work the rest of the way out.

Great professor! She is alot of fun and always has funny stories to tell. Attendance is not mandatory but half of the questions on each test come from the notes, while the other half comes from the CoursePack. Would definetely love to have her again!

Ms. Schacht is a wonderful teacher. If you have a choice pick her. Your grade only comes from 4 tests so you have to study but she cares about her students and explains everything so you understand it. The class is very interesting.

She makes the topics in class really easy to understand. She co-wrote the textbooks for class! Just saying, this might be the only class I actually read for :)

She made the class very interesting. Final grade comes from 4 test, She is very clear about what is going to be on the test. Very easy to get at least a B.

She is the BEST professor ever! Her class is always interesting, one of the few that I was actually excited to go to. Tests are simple, she gives you the exact notes you need (they're short), and you read a few articles in the book before each test. Ms Schacht is so sweet to, you'll want this class.

VERY easy. I never went to class after I took the first exam. Got together with some friends and did the study guide and did well. The exams are the ONLY grades though so you have to do well. there are questions that are on the exams that refer to in class discussion but since its multiple choice its easy to guess. definitely recommend easy A or B

This teacher is great. Definitely take her. As long as you give it a little effort you'll get a B! You need to go to class to take notes, there aren't any study guides. If you just go to class and listen the tests are pretty straightforward. She has a great energy that is contagious. I loved going to her class!

I have yet to take the final but Tracie is my girl. I've never had more fun going to class. She talks about her personal life experiences to relate information being taught and makes it easier to understand. As long as you show up to class, you should get an A on her exams. Final is said to be hard. It's based purely on the book but is open note.
