she's not very good at all but does curve and give bonus. tests arent too bad either but i recommend someone else. says um and so every other word
She repeats things over and over. She's helpful if you go to her office bourse but in class she is very confusing. She doesn't connect with the class but this year was also her first time teaching.
I would highly recommend anyone to NOT take this teacher. She is terrible and does not know how to teach that well. If you are looking for an interesting, somewhat easy class if you try this is not to one. HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND
If you take her be prepared to teach yourself, her lectures make absolutely no sense and she is very hard to follow.
If you have no knowledge of chemistry, I suggest to not take this class unless you wanna teach yourself. Her lectures are uninteresting. She messes up all the time and confuses students as to what she's talking about. She does do little bonus clicker questions. Other than that I was screwed 4 the final & pretty much cried bc i was underprepared!
Schneider is not hard!!!! she is very easy to talk to. during the exams, she will even help you. she gives 2 practice test before every exam, which are just like the actual test. she gives bonus points for going to class. everyone that is complaining about her didnt go to class or didnt study. i would take her again for chem 1202 is it was offered.
Used to love chemistry before her, but she made me hate it. She probably wouldn't be that bad of a teacher if she wasn't so boring and actually interacted with the class
I was interested in chemistry before her class but she made me hate it. I attended almost every class but her lectures were boring and useless. She makes mistakes while writing out problems and you can hardly read her handwriting. I had to teach myself from the text book.
Absolutely terrible experience with this teacher. She had a very tough time clearly presenting the material through both her lectures and examples. Her tests were relatively easy if you tried to learn the material on your own; however, the exam was ridiculously hard. I now struggle to enjoy chemistry.
I think she said the word "UMMM" about 300 times a class. terrible teacher, i know more chemistry than she does. NOT helpful either.
Dr. Schneider was very distracting to pay attention to. She constantly said "um" and would write incorrect number/formulas on the overhead and have to cross out and correct herself. She didn't seem to know what she was doing. Tests were harder than her practice. Go to the chem tutor center, they will teach you everything she doesn't.
She is so boring. Gives bonus assignments and clicker points are bonus. She give a practice questions before the test. Is it the same thing, no. But it give you a good idea of what to expect. Group work every class period based on major. Can be annoying if you don't like your group and there are pop quizzes.
Okay so I had her assigned on the course booklet and being a dumb freshman I assumed I would have her in the lab with me at least at some point. You will not see her besides like two times, so if you have her for lab ignore these reviews because you will never see her she only grades your final and midterm. Hope you get a good TA!
Unless you are amazing at chemistry, DO NOT TAKE HER. She is super sweet and nice, but cannot teach. All she does is read off her notes and barely works anything out. You have to teach yourself and attent SI sessions. She messes up A LOT in lectures, and even in her notes. NOT RECOMMENDED.
dont take her class unless you already know the material!!! she doesn't explain anything well
Coming from a student with a Chemistry background she's still awful! Practice tests are nothing like the actual tests and she seems more confused on what she's teaching that her students. She makes many mistakes in working out problems and reads straight from the slides. Unless this is your only option I wouldn't recommend her.
One of the worst classes I've had to sit through. Doesn't know how to explain material, constantly messes up problems, and basically just reads off the slides. Tests are hard, set up like the practice but questions nothing like it and my SI leader did not really like her. Really dread going to this class, DO NOT TAKE HER.
I asked her for help, went to SI sessions and got a tutor and till had to drop the course. She does grade homework and gives extra credit but it barely counts for anything compared to the test that are bad. She messes up a lot during lectures which makes everything more difficult and you have to teach yourself. My advice would be not to take her
If Chemistry is difficult for you, don't take her class. She reads material directly off of the slides, and doesn't explain anything. She frequently messes up her own practice problems, and seems confused a lot. Practice tests are nothing like the real thing. She seems nice, but class is boring and you have to teach yourself.
Dr. Schneider is extremely helpful and willing to go the extra mile for her students. Her tests are tough but a good grade isn't hard to get as long as you put in some effort. SI attendance is a must.
Having a good chemistry background is almost mandatory for this class. I found this class SUPER easy. But beware, Schneider's lectures are confusing, only went to get the clicker question bonuses. Her tests are really easy, but the class average was about 70 on each exam. Expect 4 exams and a group final which is impossibly difficult
She is a super sweet person but I would not recommend her class at all. The lectures are very unhelpful and she rarely works out the problems. If she does work out the problems she doesn't explain and scratches out everything as if she doesn't know what she is doing. Also, she thought that the class average of 60 on test was good.
The absolute worst teacher i have ever had. Not only can she not teach, but she can't even calculate simple math problems without "messing up" somewhere. You can never get a definite answer to a question because she is constantly saying "oh I didn't do that right." Went to every SI and still got a C.
This was the second level chemistry class i took and was the second time I had to basically teach myself. She will mess up somewhere in her lectures basically everyday, and is very hard to follow. If you know you struggle with chemistry, i highly recommend someone else.
Powerpoints were good and she explains most thing pretty well, but made quite a few mistakes just reading her slides. I struggled to pay attention at time because her low energy level. The test were almost perfect mix of home work and her power points. Chem 1201 was a straight forward class that takes some work.
She gives extremely ample opportunities to make extra credit between in-class questions and bonus test questions, and really seems to care about teaching. Only criticism would be that she needs a better stylus for writing on the slides and she can be a little boring- though it is entry level chemistry to be fair
She is a very sweet lady and will definitely help you with anything outside of class. There is four test out of the semester and have about 10-15 questions on each. The test are not that hard and the homework is easy. She also gives extra credit.
She is a sweet person, but I would not recommend taking her. I found it hard to follow along to what she was saying in the lectures. I had to end up teaching myself a majority of lessons because there was no way I could follow along to what she was doing. There is a lot of reading and homework. The tests weren't difficult, but not easy, either.
She's really sweet but hard to follow her lectures but it doesn't really matter because the tests are incredibly easy if you go to the SI.
She is a very sweet lady and she wants you to pass, but if you do not have a strong chemistry background do not take her class. I read the book every night attended SI sessions and class and still did not do well. I had a friend sit in with me during the class and she told me that she wasn't a good teacher. I recommend Hopkins or Hurst.
Not a bad professor as everyone makes her out to be! Her test always averaged above a 70% for every test, which is a lot better than all the other CHEM professors at LSU. Very sweet lady, does often get a little confused and may mess up problems when working things out, but overall a good professor.
Good teacher and she gives you enough chances to do well even if you dont do good on test.
nice woman but she does NOT PREPARE YOU FOR THE FINAL AT ALL. we had SI sessions prior to the final exam and it was crazy how much info she failed to go over. she gives clicker bonus questions but they dont count for much. the only upside to this class was that she made the HW and gave pretest so it was clear what was on the test.
Mostly fine, very cutesy and a little annoying though. If you don't understand what she says in her lecture, your best bet is to find an online video to explain it better. She tends to just repeat herself a lot and then tell you things that are "beyond the scope of this class". Not a very good prof IMO.
Dr. C is extremely sweet and caring. She works hard to provide students with material necessary to pass the class. Because her class is so easy, the final exam (which is put together by all of the chem professors) is nearly impossible. Read your textbook! Go to the SI sessions! Pay attention in class! Dont rely on just her to prepare you.
Super nice woman. As long as you pay attention in class and do the homework (literally 10 questions every other week and packback) you'll do great. Attendance isn't mandatory but there are 2-3 bonus clicker questions every class.
Dr. C was amazing. She cares for each individual student and is there to answer any questions you might have. Dr. C is very understanding and will work with you when you need help. Her class is very lecture heavy. Barely any homework and tests are easy. She has 2-3 clicker questions every class that are for bonus. Love her
I absolutely love Dr. C! CHEM 1202 is difficult regardless of who you take. Dr. C really cares about her students and even gives practice exams that are similar to the real thing. She also prorates your lowest exam grade with your final exam grade if you did better on the final. Overall, great woman and great class! 10/10.
Dr. C is a very good prof to take to this class! She gives a reasonable amount of homework and give a practice exam before each exam which gives you a good idea of what concepts are going to be on it. Class isn't necessarily mandatory but you get extra credit for clicker questions which really help your grade!
Horrible teacher. She has a sweet personality but is a horrible teacher and I do not recommend taking her class. SI sessions were not help at all and confused me even more. If you do not have knowledge already about Chem 1202 or have taken the class already I DO NOT RECOMMEND HER. RUN AWAY FROM THIS CLASS IF YOU WANT TO SAVE YOUR GPA.
Prof. Schneider was not a bad teacher; however, when it came time to take the final exam, it seemed as if we had not learned anything. Her tests were very easy to study for, with a practice test provided for each, and I felt prepared for each of them. The SI sessions were not handled well, but that is not her fault. In short, easy class, easy Prof.
I really enjoyed Dr. C's course this semester. I took a chem 1 honors class before, but I feel like I never understood chemistry until Dr. C's class. Her lectures are great and the in-class questions are engaging during lectures and help a lot. The homework prepares you for the tests and the questions are also very straightforward. Best chem prof.
Terrible to be honest. I knew the information on the test backwards and forwards and STILL did bad on every test. She purposely tries and tricks you on the test.
An overall really great person and professor. She has in class questions that are worth points so answering those goes into your grade. She emails back really fast so you're not waiting with a question. Class takes some studying but she makes it relatively easy.
She tries to trick you up too much on the exams that are nothing like the in class questions/homework. She makes her own tests, which are all multiple choice, and sometimes forgot to include the correct answer in the choices so you so you end up wasting time. Even with completing all bonuses, I did not do well in this class. I do not recommend.
It is early but she has given us like 5 different extra credit pieces and questions in the first two weeks. She is super nice and sweet, and it very respectful and seems like she cares for the fate of her students.
Dr. Schneider does not do the best at preparing you for the exams. She doesn't really care about you. Deadlines are deadlines, absolutely NO exceptions. Exams are extremely scattered and don't always correlate with what was learned. If taken attend SI, get a tutor, and good luck.
Absolutely love Dr. C! She explains every chapter so well. If you pay attention in class and take the practice exams seriously, you should do really well in this class. Best Chem 1201 prof at LSU BY FAR!!
by far my best prof for my first semester; quick responses to emails; very understanding; quick to help anyone that needs it; ensures all students understand; i did feel lost when the final came around though, it felt as tho all my studying and preparation was useless and helpless
Dr. C is the only chem prof I've had at LSU who actually taught me anything. She gives clear notes, lots of chances for extra credit, and always answers emails promptly to show you how to solve the problems if you get stuck. Exams are multiple choice and you can usually rule out half the answers at a glance if you just pay attention.
If you pay attention in lectures and attend every class, you will pass. She is good at explaining things, she lectures in class and provides us with visuals. Every day we can answer review questions for bonus points! Her tests are 20 questions and not too bad, just study and attend SI. Her tests are during class, not in Himes. I liked this class.
My favorite professor out of all of this semester. I made sure to get her for chem 1202. She explains things really well, has tons of bonus opportunities, doesnt make you use a textbook thats expensive, has things like group assignments and workshops to get your grade up. She takes time to help you understand why you got a question wrong. 12/10.
Though CHEM 1212 is graded by TAs, the grading rubric for this lab is insane. The quiz questions are extremely confusing. The midterm was never given back to us in order to see what we got wrong. We were only given percentages. Besides the grading structure, the woman herself is simply not a nice person.
The class all together is hard and Prof. Schenider doesn't make it easier. Once you do not understand one thing you get behind on everything. In class she just does the problems on the board and doesn't explain well enough for the way I learn. A lot of homework and a group assignment before every exam.
Don't take this instructor if you care about your GPA. If you were unfortunate enough to have found yourself in her class, TAKE EVERY OPPORTUNITY FOR EXTRA CREDIT. Don't depend on her, read on your own, and use Khan Academy like your life depends on it. Your workshop submissions will be graded by fellow freshmen, not the prof, so good luck.
She's good at being clear about what she wants and what the assignment is on. Answers emails within the hour. Go to the SI sessions and always fill out the notes in class.
Ive never had a D before until I took this class & now have to retake the class. Classes like this discourage you from wanting to go further. The final is a group final and unbelievably hard. She claimed she was going to replace the lowest grade with the final grade but instead gave points which did not help. Nice lady but not a good teacher.
Genuinely wants students to pass. Compared to what I've heard abt other profs, I'd say she's the best option with SO many bonus points. Still had a 100 in the class when taking the final after getting 90s/100s on the exams, lol. There're these short group assignments like every 2 wks. Homework 1-2 times a week. Has long but not-so-boring lectures.
Attendance isn't mandatory, but you get bonus points for doing the in-class questions. She's a good prof, but you have to put in the work outside of class to get a good grade. SI sessions and khan academy were my saving grace.
She was a great teacher. She taught what she needed too and even did test review the class before the actual test. There's a homework for every chapter, but it's usually around 20 questions. She makes you do four group projects with random people that she assigns you with. She did online and in-person which was nice if I didn't want to go to class.
Dr Schneider is very particular about how her labs go. When lab is over, lab is over. You can be in the middle of cleaning tools and she will tell you to drop what you are doing and get out. She comes into our labs to see how we are doing and to make sure everything is going how she wants. She will not hesitate to correct you on little things.
There are notes available to buy outside of the class for 2 weeks ($20),BUY THEM. They greatly help with jotting quick notes and are great study material for the exams. The exams are pretty straight forward. There's enough extra credit to give you a little cushion. A few things on final weren't really gone over, I made a C on final, but A overall
Her lectures/PowerPoint info seems hard, but the exams were pretty easy. Just learning how to do the homework and the test review always gave me A's for the exams. The extra credit can play a big part in doing well in the class. She is fairly easy compared to how I heard the other professors are.
I had Schneider for Chem1212. The class is taught by TAs, but Schneider was available to answer any further questions I had about any experiments. Chem 1212 is fairly easy with straightforward quizzes as well as midterms/final exams.
ABSOLUTELY the worst professor that i have ever had! She catches attitudes with students when they ask questions. She doesn't care to explain anything because "it takes up too much time". She doesn't respond to emails. I have never bad mouthed a teacher until I met her and she is the worst of the worst. If you can take anybody but her!
She is very good at teaching. need to go to class cause she does little attendance check quizzes that will matter in the end when it comes to the final exam. she gives you notes with the ability to purchase them
Loved Dr. C for chem 1201. Hate her for 1202 IT IS NOT THE SAME CLASS SETUP FOR 1202! No lectures in class. Watch vidoes the night before and in class she goes over 3 examples MAX. No homework. The in class questions will bring you down if you dont get 100 each time. Passed 1201 with a B+ but I might fail this class. Only on exam 2 and Im scared
If you want to make an A, make sure to show up to the lectures (for clicker questions) and have a good understanding of what's going on. Test questions can be tricky, but SI helps you for the questions.
Gave plenty of extra credit opportunities. She doesn't take attendance, but she does in class clicker questions for extra credit Buy the printed out notes, she uses them in class and they contain some good examples. Exams are around 20-25 questions + a bonus question for extra credit. There is homework on moodle, but you get unlimited attempts. SI!
literally get ready to fail the test. you may end with at least a B in the class but you will fail the test if you cannot teach yourself. caroline DOES NOT teach well. i loved her in chem 1201 but 1202 is on another level of difficult. if you dont watch the assigned videos before class you will fail the in class homework. good luck :)
I really liked Schneider's class for 1201, but the format for her 1202 class is completely different. You have to watch the lectures at home and then the class period is comprised for example problems. I preferred her class for 1201 and did significantly better in that course. Overall she's a good professor, but recommend someone else for Chem 1202
She is a brilliant teacher and expects you to know the material. She answers your questions with reverse factual statements. For example, "Dr. C, does a cation have a positive charge?" She replies, "Well, an anion has a negative charge." I took this as teaching to the fullest extent.
She's a very pleasant professor, however this class is in "flipped classroom" format. I recommend doing all bonus activities, all pre-class quizzes, and watching all pre-class vids; you will not understand the material without watching the vids before class. Also, the class time is used for problem solving instead teaching the material.
Her lectures was just solving problems no teaching. You had to watch videos before class with a pre quiz. Lots of bonus. Lots of chances to pull up grade before the final.
She does LearningCata. everyday for a grade. She's a flipped class so lectures/notes are on Moodle, and has extra credit quizzes on Pearson. Be on top of notes! I recommend doing all the extra credit activity, it will help you. I failed 2 exams. I did all the EC work, and she added points to my final grade. Go see her in Office hrs if u need help.
Chemistry 2 can be a hard class but she is a super nice professor who generally cares about her students. She has a really fantastic way of explaining the material that makes it much easier for her students.
For Chem2364. The actual lab can varies from between 30 minutes to whole class. A lot of labs are multi days. The online quiz is impossible to get 12/12 on. The midterm and final is in himes and is okay as-long you follow the study guide she posts of all the topics. She sometimes enter the lab and is very nice and genuinely wants you to understand.
I took her for CHEM 2364, but that wasn't an option here. She's nice, I actually also had her for 1202. I had a nice TA, Saima Nipa; she was helpful when we had questions. There's pre-lab quizzes per lab, a midterm and final. The exams impact your grade. Data analysis and data pages due for each lab, lab itself is pretty straightforward.
She was the 1st professor I met at LSU. She is a very sweet lady!
CHEM2364: My class was pretty unorganized. TA's typically had no idea what was going on and would say things contradicting the manual. Dr. C is nice enough, just can come off condescending. The quizzes were made to make you do badly it seems. Overall course is just okay, definitely was extremely aggravating sometimes.
great! awesome
Lab itself was fun, all depends on the TA and how they grade data pages/analysis mine was great! However, the quizzes were so confusing. They started off easy and then... Anywho, the midterm was difficult I can't even tell you how to study for it final wasn't as bad. Lab is fun, just good luck on actual graded material (besides data pages).
Schneider is super kind and extremely helpful. The lab was fun and I loved my TAs Suliyat & Sebastian. Super nice and helpful. The midterm and final are extremely difficult but I think that is a department issue. The pre-lab quizzes are hard too but you gotta take what you can get. Besides for the annoying weight of the exams, Schneider is good.
If you try you will pass this class. My only complaint is the way she treated me. I had a death in the family and had to miss a lecture. She told me I should've still attended class in the hospital and said a death only counted if it were a parent or sibling. I would understand for an exam but she could've shown empathy since it was a lecture.
Do not miss a class. Not only does she have in class quizzes that count towards your grade but she explains concepts really well. She gives plenty of bonus to help boost your grade. Her exams aren't hard but you will need to use all the resources she gives you to study including the in class and bonus quizzes and practice exams
Great professor with lots of practice problems. Took her over the summer with a job and extracurriculars, and her class was still manageable and, dare I say, easy. I didn't show up to every single lecture, but it's definitely recommended to.
She isn't terrible, but she isn't amazing either. She can be very rude at times, which is frustrating when you dont understand something. She knows whats shes talking about but tends to go quick and very rarely goes into detail when someone has a question. I wouldn't take her again, but if this is a class you can prioritize, then go for it.
I took this online over the summer. She was a great professor and was willing to help you understand the material both inside and outside class. She had many assignments, extra credit, and quizzes which helped balance out the exams and she provided great guided notes. As long as you put in the work you will do great. I would 100% take her again!
I feel like Dr. Schneider is definitely one of the better chem1202 professors out there. Her exams are a little more conceptual heavy, but I think that she does a really good job at explaining everything. She gives lots of opportunities for bonus, and they really do make a difference to your grade if you utilize them!
Dr. C is so sweet! I don't think her teaching style was optimal for me, but I can see how others may like it - I could never exactly put my finger on why this is. Every time I had a question, she was always very warm and helpful. I do not know much about the other CHEM 1202 professors, but I would recommend her for sure.
