Only gives B's and C's. If you want to write a 2 4pg papers, 1 and a half spaced, and at the most get a C take this teacher, otherwise dont' bother. Also, she makes up the tests and doesn't take material from the book! lousy teacher!!!

she is an AWFUL professor. DON'T TAKE HER! She stopped allowing her teaching evaluations to be seen after Fall 2003 and it was a 2.44 then. She is too hard for this class and doesn't make sense and most of what she says is incredibly irrelevant. DON'T TAKE HER

Professor Charles is probably one of the worst professors I ever had. She made class hell. I have no idea how she even became a professor, since she doesn't even know how to spell or pronounce simple words. This is college not preschool. Very hard to understand and is offensive to some students.

I never thought that such unintellegent people could become professors. She really needs to consider taking ESL, I'm sure they offer the course in Baruch. If a professor can't spell the President's name, which only contains 4 letters, then there is a problem.

I dont even have this teacher and I know how bad she is. She talks about the male Pennies and the feMALE Bajanaa. However there is one exception to the rule the ARRRRRRmaphrodite!

I don't even know how she got her tenure!! Can't teach to save her life. Long boring lectures that don't even go to the point. Tests you stuff that is from HER book, not notes/text.

She puts people down if she disagrees with what the students say. Constantly late (15-20 mins). Have no idea what's what. Don't bother to explain stuff because she sees people as stupid.

One of worst professors I ever had. Gives extra credit to some students and not to others. Very unfair, the worst grading system ever. Very unorganized and unapproachable, stay away!! Accent is not too bad, she is understandlabe. Notes all over the place. Boring as hell.

Bad teacher. That accent she has is terrible, you can barely understand half the words coming out of her mouth. If you study the book really well and present your research project well, it's possible to avoid a C.

Absolutely hate her! No one in his right mind would enjoy her class. Late all the time, comes totally unprepared (notes are incomprehensible), never manages to teach what is in the syllabus and gives ridiculous tests. Don't even bother.

Unbelievably incompetent. Takes forever to explain even the simplest concepts. And when she answers you questions, she makes you feel stupid because she can't understand crap, so she hides behind her hostility. Disorganized and unhelpful (always late), I wonder how she got her tenure.

if you take this professor make sure to DOUBLE CHECK your semester grades with her!!!!! she forgot to add 10 points to my semester grade. i went from a c+ to a b+. that's a HUGE mistake. 3 other students from my class had the same problem! she finally changed the grade, but after 2 weeks! take the time, email her, find out those grades!

If you want a professor who comes late for class and actually tells you that she "forgets about you", who writes illiterate instructions, who doesn't care about anything but gives you a ton of work. TAKE HER! If you want to be treated like a human being, then DON'T!!

Complete and utter waste of money. I would have dropped the class but in the first week she pretends to be interesting. She reads her lectures off index cards, doesn't teach you anything, all common sense. Tests are based on pages and pages of pointless, dry, useless reading. She doesn't teach most of the semester is your own presentations. AVOID.

if you enjoy being talked down to, take her. otherwise, stay well away. she actually forgot to come to class (twice) and someone had to go to the department's office to remind her after we complained to the chair. she is very incomprehensible and irresponsible. not very interesting lectures, either.

She's extremely hard to understand and her lectures put you to sleep but overall the class is pretty easy. Her midterm and final are simple as long as you stick to the book. Don't argue with her because you'll never win. She also asks really personal, unnecessary questions.

Boring class, non-text book use but it appears on tests. Strong accent hard to comprehend. AND If you want to drop your GPA, take her course?

She is a gpa killer. She assigns vague essays where she barely gives any As. She teaches only from the textbook and nobody can even understand her through her heavy Jamaican accent. She routinely comes 10 minutes late however she scolds students for coming 2 minutes after class starts when she does come on time. Has zero respect for her students

She doesn't speak clearly and expects you to writesay what she's thinking. Hates lateness yet is late at times. No written work except for two book reports. She's a super tough grader. Would never take her again.

Take her class if you can make her like you, or else you will be screwed.

Atrocious experience. I would never in my life take this professor again. Her exams are specific to whatever Schaefer, the author of the textbook, says. That is her god. A question she proposed on an exam was literally asking an example from an excerpt in the textbook, a detail that is not essential to the course. Book reports not clear at all.

I got a B without reading the textbook. She's not clear, her notes on the board are just scribbles, and she's very rude. Don't raise your hand to participate until you get how she works. Try to make her like you if you do speak because she can be nasty. It's a doable class, though. The tests are easy enough. Don't save the paper for the last min.

She needs to change her ways entirely. I think she knows her teaching style is not working but she doesn't do anything about it. Extremely unhelpful and her lectures are so unorganized. Don't recommend.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! I came in with general knowledge about sociology having taken it in high school. Entire grade based on 3 papers, final paper worth 40 points. Extremely harsh grader. No consideration for student's lives outside of the class room. Changes syllabus to fit her needs, not to help the students. Changed the syllabus over 3 times

Although I have nothing against her, she was one of the worst graders I've ever encountered. Normally, I would receive an A for any writing assignment so idk where she gets her grades from but I received no legitimate feedback. She also had a few things against a few select students, so make sure you get on her good side early.

This lecture is was nightmares are made of. Used derogatory terms when discussing sesnitive issues like religion. She claims to be open minded but is one of the most ignorant and judgmental people I've ever met. We had a text book, but barely used it. Her grading is HORRIBLE and will ruin your GPA. Won't take you seriously if you meet after class

She is by far one of the worse professors I have ever had. She is disorganized, and if you do not pick up on what she means or wants early on, you're screwed. She seems knowledgeable, however she isn't good at explaining what she wants from the class. Her grading sucks, because she doesn't articulate what you did wrong well. Take her class at risk.

Essay questions were difficult to understand. Unclear grading criteria. When people would ask for clarification she didnt clarify. The presentations are graded by the students and on the last day of class, months after the first presentation, she told us that we did them wrong and she would grade herself. Avoid this class if possible.

Worst professor I've ever had. Lectures are so disorganized that they're useless, and she seemed to repeat only a few ideas over and over. I learned more from the occasional videos shown. Entire grade based on a few papers - grades seem to be completely random, & she failed 2/3 of our class on the first essay. If assigned to her class, I'd drop.

I do not recommend this class. She is bad a grader/teacher, and has racist bias towards certain races and gender of students. Y'ALL I disregarded the 100 bad reviews she got, and my GPA is suffering. She changed the last paper instructions a few days before the due date. VERY BAD TEACHER, female version of Uncle Tom( Aunt Jemima). SHE IS A SCAM!!!

Can't skip class but you want to so badly. She gives terribly unorganized lectures. No online notes, slides, just constant emails about a new assignment, instructions always vague. Tests almost straight from the textbook, but still the most difficult grader I've ever seen. Changed syllabus mid-semester and gives new assignments randomly. STAY AWAY.

My God. She is the worst professor/teacher I've ever had in my life. Her basic skills of communication and grammar is HORRIBLE, and her note taking style is difficult to comprehend in class. Charles does not care for her students at all. She is extremely vague in her instructions and does not hesitate to fail students. Her "lectures" do not relate to the material being tested, yet she emphasizes attendance. The class average was around a C and the highest grade was a B-. Absolutely zero respect for her. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS!

If you are taking this class, show up if you want to laugh. If not, buy or rent the textbook and study that for all tests. Even if questions sound open-ended use every term you can from the book she looks for that. She has a kind heart, but can come off very racist and biased. Also she may randomly change the syllabus mid year. As are hard, avoid.

She doesn't even grade papers herself, she has someone else doing it. Everything she "teaches" is literally found and better explained in the textbook she told us to get. Exams are questions you have to answer with at least 2-3 paragraphs. Not worth going to her class because it is literally a waste of time, however, attendance is mandatory.

Honestly the worst professor I have ever gotten. Isn't able to articulate properly during lectures, she has no lesson plans and repeats the same lesson over and over. She also does not respond to emails, when she does there is a good chance she will disregard the question you asked, and reply in confusing and broad terms.

Treats students like her children, and not in a good way. She doesn't like to be asked questions. Doesn't care about your opinions. Has a 'because I said so' attitude. TERRIBLE communication in class & through email. Too many inconsistencies from day one. You will be too confused by her lectures & worried about your grade to learn anything. 0/10.

she is the WORST! She has a bad habit of losing peoples grades and assignments. In fact she lost 3 of my assignments and then told me she would drop 7 points total off my entire grade for that class. I did an immediate withdrawal. She is the worst! Her office is also very disgusting and is littered on the floor with other students assignments.

This professor is just horrible. AVOID HER AT ALL COST. She is inconsistent with communication, gets make when students ask questions. She is extremely rude and condescending with students. She thinks she knows everything when in reality she is just rude. The class materials are easy, she is the one that makes the class difficult.

This semester I broke my foot so I was on crutches I live in long island so I had to commute 2 hours on crutches with a broken foot just to turn in my project This is after providing doctors notes to her and emailing her multiple times. This story should tell you all you need to know about this professor and her moral compass DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.

One of the worse professors at baruch. Not sure what her grading criteria is for her papers, the grades are just kind of randomly dished out. She also insults students and spends every class talking about the same things. The only thing i learned from her class, is to never take her again.I love sociology so it a shame this was my experience

Yea dont take her. She lost students papers on campus and claimed if she didn't have it, they didn't do it. She has some animosity toward some students in the class who ask questions regarding her way of teaching. She doesn't give clear rubrics, we basically handle the class by presenting a bunch of times.... don't take it lol

Constantly repeats the same things ever lecture, will get angry at you if you ask her a question or she will laugh in your face like its nothing, Always late to her own class, there is a duo presentation that is required and grade is based on a few things.

This professor is incredibly rude. She argues with you during class. If you ask her a question, she gets mad. I asked her what content would be on the final, and she said why should I tell you? Like what? She has history of losing papers and she is insanely slow with grading.

This professor is bad a teaching like the day is long, Don't take this class! I don't look at reviews when making classes but this professor is the reason to. There are no lesson plans, no rubrics on assignments, and no notes on blackboard other than the provided texts. I hope the rest of the semester goes well, but at some point it is what it is.

I can't get 4 words or so out before she jumps down my throat with her biased views. She refuses to be wrong as well as refusing to take criticism from students who are clueless about the class curriculum.

She's terrible at organizing and using technology that it harms whatever credentials she may have. The syllabus was confusing to navigate, the handouts were awful, and she didn't plan out the days properly and repeated the same lessons from a week before. You must notify her if you're late by 5 minutes otherwise that's an absence.

This professor was very unclear and rude the entire semester. She doesn't have set learning objectives or format for the book report and final. Doesn't let people talk and interrupts presentations. Lectures about inappropriate stuff unrelated to lesson.

I feel like I have learned nothing about sociology in 8 weeks already now. She is late, then spends 15 minutes going in circles about her rules, her lectures have absolutely no substance.

Highly unprofessional. Shows pornography in class, yells at students, and makes inappropriate comments about race if she does not comprehend. Example, if you're Hispanic, she will automatically assume you're Mexican and will speak on it. Does not teach properly at all and is always talking about sex for some reason. Should be fired immediately.

If you want to really learn and not be spoon fed with a ton of jargon and her poor communication which can cost you a lower grade in assignments, PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Beg the sociology department for another open class if you can get it, so you can drop it. If you have her, please do not hesitate to report her.

doesn't allow for much student engagement during her lectures, in fact she seems almost bothered by it. very deprecating for students who may have inaccurate input/ general questions about the lecture, assignments, etc. attendace was mandatory even though she literally repeated variations of the same lecture over and over again

I will never ignore RMP ratings after dealing with this professor for an entire semester. Not only did she give out F's like candy, she had no way of explaining why. Her syllabus was complete word vomit with no structure. She changed presentation dates as she pleased. If you have to take this class, find literally anyone else.

If you want the same lessons every single class, this is definetly the class for you. Not only does she not have any structure, but she forgets what she talked about in her previous lecture, and eventhough we tell her, she continues to talk about the same thing.

She does not allow anybody to be confused. When the students in my class came to complain about her miscommunication (about assignment due dates, etc.), she would refuse to say anything about it. Teaches us the same exact things too. Even if she's your last resort, you would NOT want to be in her class.

horrible old granny professor. trust me if u wanna take her, try if its last resort, cause the assignments and tests are take home and u can type the essay and use resources *wink wink* and print it on paper and give it to her, shorty wont even know, but other than that she's really weird starts fights and is picky for no reason.
