Dr. Abel is a very excellent professor. I love her teaching style. She presents her information in a very clear and interesting manner, but she challenges you to do thinking on your own!

SHE IS ALOT OF FUN!! MAKE SURE YOU GO TO CLASS AND DO THE EXTRA READINGS!! IF YOU NEED HELP GO TO HER OR JUST E-MAIL HER SHE NORMALLY RESPONDS IN A COUPLE OF HOURS!! VERY GOOD TEACHER! SHE LOVES HER JOB!!

This class for the most part is pretty easy. Go ahead and try to get the online quizzes and test kit done early so you won't have to deal with it. The first 2 tests we were able to use an index card for notes. Just read....easy A or B!

Do the work and you get full credit, no arbitrary grading system. Very direct. A little overwhelming at first, but she clarifies as time goes on. Do all your assignments and you'll get an A. Do extra readings before tests.

WONDERFUL TEACHER!! She makes educating children seem so important and fun that I want to jump out of my seat and go teach right away!! She explains things very well and she has a super personality that shows that she truly cares about our education!

she's so easy. nothing is ever really taught though. you have to write an essay on how to teach a child to read at the end of the semester and she never taught that...or anything else. lets you use your notes on every test except the final. i got an A.

Excellent teacher that knows her stuff! After having Kennemer for 320, I realized just how spoiled I got with Abel. She cares about how and what we learn. She really wants us to succeed and she obviously loves her job. She will help you in any way!

Dr. Abel is fantastic. Another rater said she was odd. Yeah, she's odd because she's actually a wonderful teacher. Wait till that person has the other Reading Professors - that person will change their mind awfully quick. Just take my work for it - you'll be glad you chose her for a teacher.

OMG, wait until you get to RDG 320 and Intern I! Dr. Abel is the best teacher I've had at SFA. She's organized and has a clear point system. Her tests are open book, and she literally tells you what to write for your essay/final. She is so full of info! She teaches you everything you need to know

If you do not make at least an A or B then you never went to class. Easy tests. Re-take 12 quizes online until you are satisfied. 2 points a piece. that is an easy 24 points out of 100. I have an A in the class.

Take this professor! She is so energetic and really gets into teaching. I learned so much from her, and she makes it really easy to do well!

Helpful, bright, energetic, and thoughtful! She loves to draw and doodle while teaching as she demos stuff. ;) She knows her subject matter. Quizzes -take at home online til you pass. One presentation. Attendance counts. Bonus work available. Tests are fairly easy just a couple of confusing questions on phonics. Highly recommend this instructor.

Goofy but good! Draws pictures during lecture. Many online quizzes but you have all semester to take them as many times as you want. One small 2 min. group project. Tests pretty easy. Very helpful and knows her stuff. You really will learn how to teach kids to read. Very nice lady and easy to talk to. A must take!

Such a good teacher! The only way not to get an A in this class is not to do the online quizzes, but you have all semester to take them.

She is so good and helpful, she really wants you to achieve your teaching goal. The presentation was real easy and helpful to us all in class. She does do alot of doodling but it helps us all and never not interesting. She is a great professor and you must take her if you need this class.

Best teacher I've ever had. Love her. Makes it impossible not to pass and pretty hard not to get an A. She is very clear with what she wants and gives you ample opportunity to make up points. Easy A and really interesting!

Love, love love this teacher. She is so sweet and motherly. She loves her job adn her students. She is jsut genuinelt a wonderful person who really wants to help her students. I hope every education major has as much fun in her calss as i did! She is worth getting to know, you will leave her class eager to be a reading teacher

Absolutely Amazing! Not just a great person but an excellent teacher. She prepares you for tests and gives you confidence to take them. Dr. Abel absolutely loves her career and shows it in her excitement and curriculum. She makes me want to be the best teacher that I can be!

AWESOME! she truly has a gift to teach. she is very educated and wants you to be as well. if you have children you are in for a special treat, if not, this will help you when you do. keep all your stuff because you will use it when u have ur own classroom! wonderful ideas for games and teaching methods! take her for as many classes as possible

She is a very bright teacher. Although I will be teaching 4-8 English....the class came off as a little repetitive. She loves what she does. VERY EASY...no need to worry about this class. Just come to class because she takes attendance. You will not need the book but you have to buy the packet. I will recommend taking her!! 1 Midterm and a Final.

She's very nice and the class is not hard at all. It's an easy A as long as you do all the work and turn everything in on-time. I made a high B but only because I missed a few days.

She did an awesome relaying the information. Before the course began I was getting certified for 8-12 ELR, but after taking this course she had alot to do with my switch to 4-8 ELR. If yuo can ever take her, do so.

Dr Abel is so wonderful and I would definitely take her again if she ever offers another course! She is straight to the point and teaches in a very clear and understandable way. I learned alot and seeing as how this course is a big chunk of the ExCet test, simply going to class and doing the work has increased my confidence in the education depart.

She's a mess, but a great teacher!!! She is very helpful, and I truely learned alot for her class!!! I think it's great that she teaches 318 b/c ishe gets you prepared for your other classes!!!

She is so awesome! she knows what she is talking about. She will teach you to be a good teacher. Only have a midterm and final. She gives you what questions will be the midterm and final. I made a 97 on the midterm and an 96 on the final and i am an average student. Retakable quizzes online. I RECOMMEND STRONGLY!!

Dr. Abel is a great teacher and really taught me a lot about how to teach children to read. HOWEVER, she is very scatter-brained and disorganized. She lost 5 of my assignments, then miraculously found half of them during dead week. She made me do the rest again, but forgot to give credit for it and final. I had to get her to change my final grade.

Dr Abel is a great professor, if you are dealing with personal issues, she will ask you if you need any help with anything. How many other professors would do that, not many! Highly recommended to take Dr. Abel! You will not be dissapointed! Keep up with your points, online quizzes and small projects, easy A!!

Survey of TEaching awesoem and very informative

This was an awesome course, I learned alot and everything was clear for an infant to understand... Follow instructions, complete assignments, make an A.

Abel was a very good teacher. I liked her alot. She taught very well and knew her information. I wouldnt buy the book but i would buy the ELL book for that class. She had lecture notes that you NEED to buy. The notes are extremely helpful. Abel is precise and helpful. Take her for RDG 318. You will like her.

She's a good teacher. Willing to learn to accomodate her students with disabilities. Online quizzes are easy. If you show up to every class, do your work and pay attention, you should be able to pass with a B or better.

I took her RDG class online, during the summer. She always checked the discussion boards where we could post questions and responded to every question. She was very easy to communicate with and I could tell she wanted us to do well. Great person, would definitely take her for a face to face class if I had to.

She is a very unique person...I passed with an A EASILY though. I didn't even have to take the final at the end of the year because I had aced everything else. She gave a lot of chances, and is very kind. NO CELLPHONES though, she will take them and get mad. Good class.

I took Dr. Abel for Reading 320 this semester, and I must admit, her lectures are very long and seems like they will never end. She rambles, talks fast, and doesn't speak loudly at times. I learned a lot in her course though, and she is very good at helping you if you are confused with anything. It's not hard to get an A just do your assignments!

Dr. Abel was great! This was an online class with lots of content to cover. She was was a lot of help to me and she will ALWAYS give you feedback even right through the final. Of course, you have let her know when you need help so don't be afraid to email her. There is no textbook. I made an A and hope I have the opportunity to take her again.

She's a good teacher, nice, and has a passion for teaching. But it's a boring class with lectures that take forever. She still uses an overhead..........I thought she was kidding the first day she used it but nope she's used it ever since. She talks so quietly and fast it's hard to understand her sometimes. But overall easy.

Everything everyone has said so far is true. She drones on and on forever most of the time, but her class is super easy. She gives quizzes once a week but they're super easy and she gives away half the answers to you. There's not many tests either. I'd take her again, if only for the easy grade.

Absolutely adored her class. She works really hard to give you all kinds of resources, and gives really good feedback. As far as reading (and teaching it) goes, I really feel like I've grown a ton! So thankful for this teacher.

Great lady! You learn a lot

Abel is very knowledgeable and cares a lot about what she is teaching! Her lecture book is a unorganized but is full of really important information. Weekly quizzes and occasional outside assignments. This class is more work than other education classes I've been in but I really learned a lot.

Dr. Abel's class can be a little confusing with the assignments but she will do anything to clear them out and walk you trough them, she is a great teacher! She is not a hard grader!! Could get an easy A.

I took Abel during the summer. She gives so much detailed instructions it is impossible to fail this class. She also allowed us to submit our assignments before the due date for feedback in order to receive the best grade possible.

Since day 1 Dr. Abel made it very clear that this class was designed to teach young children how to read. Dr. Abel is very patient and super helpful during her office hours. She always reminded us of when important papers were due. We had 2 finals which were super simple. I'm very thankful to have learned so much from Dr. Abel.

I don't understand why she has bad ratings. Dr. Abel is helpful and kind. She knows what she is talking about and when I didn't understand, I emailed her. She would email back in a timely manner and give me good feedback. Her assignments aren't difficult. Just ask her if you don't understand something. Easy A and helpful class. I learned a lot.

Dr.Abel is a great professor! She has a traditional teaching style and is wonderful at it. She is clear in her expectations and offers help and feedback anytime needed. You will learn so much and the information is covered in a full and attainable way. Highly recommend her! I wish she taught more courses in my program at the university.
