Excellent teacher, took her online class, it was clear and concise. Very nice lady, she is the head of the science department and helped me get into a booked class.

There is a lot to memorize but it is a science course. She was very helpful and came up with intresting ways to teach. I really enjoyed the games. She also gives different ways to earn points if one isn't a great test taker. I also love that you can print off the notes. But buying the book is a waste. Never even opened it!

She must be about 40ish but cute.

I think she is a wonderful teacher...if you need this class as a non-major...take her she is a wonderful teacher and gives you extra credit points which help out in the long run!!

This is the best teacher ever! I had her for Biology 1005 for non science majors. She is very clear, she tells you everything that is one and test and all the notes are online. There is no need to even buy the text book. She has a great way of teaching and gets everyone involved in the class.

Not the easiest subject in the world, but she does a good job presenting it in her online class and her tests are always fair. Unfortunately, you have to go into the testing lab to take them. Nevertheless, you will not regret taking her class.

Microbiology is tough but she made it fairly simple. Sometimes I felt like I should be learning more, but it should be an A for ya.

Best Professor in Natural Science

Professor Allen is all you need to learn MCB 2010 and MCB 2010 Lab. Consider yourself lucky if you have her as a teacher. She is very helpful, gives excellent notes on which she tests, simplifies the most confusing lessons, very fair, very knowledgeable, very open to your questions. She keeps you up to date on all your due assignments, & tests.

Teacher is outstanding. Took this class online & was impressed w/ amount of info avail. Class notes given in Chapter format & audio files available for either your computer or ipod. A lot of information to retain but very interesting stuff. Tests were fair - study the chapter notes and listen to audio. Field Experiences were great!

Very good professo! I took the lecture online and the lab on campus. As long as you memorize the notes you should be fine, everything is very straightforward. Quizes and Exams are easy, however you MUST STUDY

I took the online course. All you have to do is listen to lectures, memorize the notes and go to campus to take the tests. It is a lot of material. You also have to do concept maps and a quiz for each section, but those are easy grades that will help you out in the end. She is very helpful and wants to see everyone succeed.

Professor Allen is a great teacher. She makes it so easy for you to get the notes and she even has lectures online. She is great and helped me out a lot. If you can, take her for any science class that you need.

If you want to take an online class, TAKE it with Prof Allen. Gives lectures to listen to and notes to follow along with. Great turn around time for tests and questions (better than prof I have been in a classroom with). Except for not meeting her, could not tell that this was an online class. Highly highly recommend her.

She tests on exactly what she says she will- I take her online class and the only homework is taking 1 test per month. As long as you study her notes,you will get an A.

Ms. Allen is one of the best professors I've had! I took her online class and thought I'd have a tough time, but she was very helpful and gave feedback on how everyone was doing. There are four sections for the semester. Each includes a concept map, quiz, and test. The tests are straight from the notes she give, so study those and you'll do fine.

she FREAKS out when it comes to germs(so annoying) but other than that she is a great professor who enjoys teaching Micro and wants her students to succeed. her assignments are easy, but you have to put in a lot of effort cause her point total is 400. so you have to work really hard for an A.

I loved this class! I took it online and she tests only from her notes. She is very fast at getting back to you if you need extra help or have a question. She really cares about her students and that they learn. Got an A. Oh, but if you take it online- you have to go to a testing center to take your 4 tests. No biggie.

I took here on-line class and it was good. This was my first on-line class. She is very helpfulful. If you listen to the media libary while going over your notes you should do good. I'm not intrested in biology but this class was intresting and the way the on-line course is set up that helps. Very understandable.

Excellent teacher! She gives you exactly what you need to know, and no more. She doesn't confuse you and is very clear on everything microbiological. Textbook is not required, I never got one and got an A. She gives extra credit quizzes and is very entertaining and energetic. It's not an "easy" class because you have to study alot, but worth taking

If you're considering taking the online BSC1010 course with Carolyn Allen, I say go ahead. The course is ran autonomously, you'll be able to learn pretty much everything on your own with minimal assistance. The tests are not difficult and she has many study tools pre-made for her students to help them memorize facts for the test.

She is super nice and super organized. I took her for online, but in class is good too. Her notes are short and to the point--the textbook is not really required. You will have to study to ace the material.

Took online. Don't really need book. Notes/ audio lectures are simple and put together very well. Test are based directly off them. A few assignments but over all easy.

Took her honors class. You only meet on T so you should attend. It's a great class. It isn't an easy subject but she makes it crystal clear. I loved her. She's very helpful and if you read the text and follow her note outlines then you'll get an A. You shouldn't fail this class at all. Only 4 tests, 2 mini projects, a ton of easy points here

ONLINE LECTURE/IN-CLASS LAB. She's phenomenal! For lecture she provides notes (no textbook needed), audio files, study aides, and helpful hints for the exams - she gives you all the tools to succeed. For lab, she also gives you notes and helpful hints for the weekly quizzes. She's so wonderful and nice! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

She is awesome ! I took the online class for Environmental Conservation and it was great. Everything that is in her class notes will be in the test. I highly recommend to take this class.

I dont know why she has any bad reviews at all. This professor has been the best online prof i have EVER taken. Not only were her tests based only on the material she provided in the notes, but she also helped by providing flash cards and games. She even gave us the essay questions to practice beforehand. No matter how much you study, if you don't have a clear mind when taking the tests, the questions have double meaning and multiple answers with the CORRECT ANSWER! Almost gave up on the class. Miss Allen is awsome!! I was so scared to take this class cause its a tough class but she makes it easy to understand. Shes really funny and actually cares about her students. She tells you whats important to study for the exams and offers an optional final if you do bad on one of her exams. I love her! Shes a really great teacher!

Professor Allen is a good teacher. Her class is challenging. It is difficult. You must listen to her lectures for each section, there are about three within each section. My class had four sections. The lectures are lengthy- going on for almost thirty minutes. It equates to almost two hours of studying, not including the flash cards at the end.

I was scared to take this class because I thought it was going to be really hard, but her teaching style makes it easy and she's really nice and funny. you can tell that she wants everyone to do well in her class. This professor is amazing. I took this class online and I have to say it is the BEST class I've taken thus far of all my college courses. She has great analogies in her lectures to help remember important facts = "purple = positive" and also lots of encouragement. Use flash cards, and study all images. Wish all professors were of her caliber. A++++

Expect a quiz every week based on her chapter notes, easy 10 points. Exams every few weeks with plenty of preparation. I took her hybrid class, everything is posted ahead of time, including the essay questions. Little HW is easy, pay attention and participate. She's always available in her office for extra help. Took the class ONLINE during summer A and it was a bit of a challenge. She gives one test per week that are taken at the testing center. If you are prepared to study 5-7 hours a day in preparation for the weekly tests then you will definitely get an A or B. She doesn't give extra credit but she gives 10 point hw. assignments that are an easy A.

She is an easy A+. Don't listen to her online lecture it is a waste. Don't buy the book it is a waste. All you need to do is print out the notes posted and study them . She also gives review flash cards that are really helpful.

AMAZING teacher! I normally don't take online classes but I would take this one again. Homework and quiz are easy and you can use your notes that you print out on blackboard. Professor Allen is a phenomenal professor, but she is not easy! I worked very hard for my grade. She only tests on her notes and is extremely clear with what exactly she will be testing you on. It is your responsibility to study and ask for help, her office is a great place to go after class for clarification. I can honestly say I learned so much!!

She is a great biology professor! I took her honors course. Attendance can be the difference between and B and an A so show up! Email her or go to her office, she is always willing to help even up to the day of the quiz/exam. She explains really well and draws terribly which makes the entire class laugh. She grades so fast! Lots of extra credit!

There are no Discussions in online classes. Only 4 quizzes ( 3 chances to get 10/10 on quizzes which are taken on your own computer), 4 tests and a final in the testing center. Tests on handouts & lectures which are online. Lets you know what to expect on each test and is very quick at responding back with email. Online Component for homework too.

I am very pleased to say that Mrs. Allen has been one of the best professors I've had. She is very approachable and very straightforward, she tells you exactly what to study and her notes are very clear. The class can be challenging, theres loads of material, but everything you need to pass the class is available on her website.

Such an amazing teacher! class is so straight forward! 4 test all multiply choice! Optional final exam that does not hurt you just replaces your lowest exam! She writes exactly what is going to be on her test in her chp notes all you do is print them out. Very easy hw/quiz you do at home and you can use your notes at home obvs each for 10 points.

Microbiology is NOT an easy course, but Professor Allen makes it so easy to learn! It may seem like too much at first but if you go to ALL her lectures, do the study activities she includes for each chapter, and feel like you know the information well enough, do the HW and quiz. Professor Allen is probably the most amazing professor I have had. She is a very caring person and does not want ANY one in her class to fail. Do not get me wrong this is a very hard class, and you do really have to work for your grade. Make sure to study her notes and look over her flashcards online where she posts all the notes!

A great teacher and is willing to help students outside of class and during her office hours. However, makes students take exams in testing center on campus so if you're looking for a strict online class only, I wouldn't recommend. Class schedule is very easy to follow and easy to pass.

If you're self motivated then definitely take her online class, if not - don't do it! You'll have to listen to the lectures and follow along with her notes. It can be unclear because she doesn't specify the page numbers. The tests are very important, fail two and you fail. The homework follows the book, and the tests follow her notes. Hard for sure

She does have a quiz every day for our class, but we meet once a week and she prepares us for the quizzes rather well- drops the lowest quiz score and gives extra credit opportunities. Professor Allen is an ideal college professor. Her detailed syllabus is exactly what's given through the semester. There are quizzes and Homework you can do from your home but you have to go into a testing lab to complete the exams. Her advice for studying is key yo passing her class, follow her instructions to studying and you will be successful.

ONLINE: really nice lady, will always be available if you have any questions or even want to review. do not take her if you want that easy A, she makes you work hard to get a good grade,and does not curve. DO flashcards and start listening to lectures asap- dont be last minute.

Professor Allen is an absolute gem. I am no good a Biology really, and I've taken three different Micro classes before hers. She really took this difficult topic and made it super easy to understand for me. She is caring and understanding and if you need help, her office is always open. Absolutely 10/10 would recommend!

This was one of the best online experiences i've had, she truly wants every student to do well in her class. Each lecture has a corresponding outline that she has made, study this outline and pay attention to the lecture and you should be fine. She also lets you know how many question from each chapter will be on the test.

I took Carolyn Allen for Microbiology in 6 weeks online and let me just tell you she did an amazing job to ensure her students passed. She provides you with great lectures and study tools to help you pass her exams. One thing about her is that she is a great communicator and will answer your every question and in no time.

Professor Allen is great! She provided with outlines to go with her online video lectures. I suggest printing and taking notes while you listen. Study the lectures and all the questions come from there! If you pay attention, do the h/w, and study with the note cards she provides you will earn an A. Do not procrastinate. I LOVE prof Allen. She explains everything you need to know for the exams & you actually learn. Provides you every possible resource to succeed & will answer all your questions. Professor Allens online lecture class is much more easier than her MCB2010L. I would strongly suggest taking her ONLY for lecture. Her lab was killer!! Lots of assignments, quizzes, tests, and her quizzes are not multiple choice. She puts in tricky questions and is a tough grader on the quizzes and labs. Took the lab class during Covid it was hard
