Picked good novels. Really clear about what she expects
Really nice women, will go out of her way to make sure you know what to expect with her course and to help you!!! Very Clear and picks good novels!!! Pride and Prejudice rocks!!!

I find Ms. Colbert a very interesting teacher. She is very prepared and willing to help at all times. The course is quite diverse.
Funny. Interesting. Compassionate. 'Nuff said.
A wicked teacher! She is so funny and sarcastic. At first she seems like a bit of a know-it-all and a bit condesending but its only sarcasm and once you get to know she is hellariious and excellent. Easy and fair marker too. Shows a lot of concern for students and is really down to earth.
Great prof!
very hard marker
Excellent prof! Helpful and funny. Picks great selections
She is kind of a hard marker, but if you go to her for help, she will explain things very well. Her lectures are for the most part pretty interesting and she's got a great sense of humour.
One of the better profs for english 1080. She is a somewhat hard marker (as they all are in this course) but not too bad, pretty fair. She is very helpful and glad to arrange meetings with you. She looooves poetry, so if you're not a poetry fan, I would suggest another prof. Overall however, I would recommend.
She's a nice woman. Her marking is somewhat hard but if you take the time to go see her she'll help you out a lot. If you dislike poetry you may want to think about getting another prof as the majority of the semester is spent on poetry.
She's great, very funny and amsuing and the course is not that hard at all. You probably won't walk out with a 70 or anything but you won't fail. She is really good so make sure that you request an interview after all of your term work is complete.
If you're a student who is willing to put in the effort, she is a great professor. Class was interesting, she knew your name, so helpful with office hours and emails and written feedback. It was awesome watching my writing improve under her guidance over the semester. It was such a satisfying class to take. Loved her.
She won't like you if you're a moron or if you don't show up..which is reasonable. Otherwise one of the best profs I've had at mun. She's funny..and picked great books.
Excellent prof! I loved doing 1101 with her, one of the most helpful and interesting eng profs i've had. She marks a bit hard, but is clear in what she wants and will give really good help and go over drafts for you. Plus, she picks some very good books (not just the usual english classics some profs insist on).
Awesome professor! Loves the class and she is so much fun! Kind of a hard marker but if you listen in class and read the books, you will do fine!
Excellent Prof! Very nice and funny. Always has a funny story to tell and makes the class very interesting. Highly recommend!
LOve this prof!!! so funny and very sarcastic to people who show up once a semester.. Knows how to give a good burn..Hard marker but makes class extremely interesting! good books !
Great Prof! Very interesting, if you show up to class and pay attention you'll do fine. Kind of a hard maker but she'll go over everything with you until you understand what she's looking for in a paper.
Professor Colbert is a hard marker. She's really into poems about sex, which is interesting. She will not like you if you don't go to class!! She's really funny and interesting. If you already have an interest in English, I recommend her.
Boring
Makes class very interesting. Would strongly reccomend her. Bit of a hard marker and attendance is very important to her. Very easy to contact if you need help with anything.
Dr. Colbert is a great woman. She likes to make a lot of jokes and finds a way to relate everything to sex. She is a hard marker, but if you attend every class and make an effort, you will be rewarded.
She's very helpful! I greatly appreciate the fact that she passes back assignments quickly.
Very hard marker and not clear on what she wants on assignments. Very bad
Great prof but spends alot of time talking about the novels but often doesn't give clear outlines of the main points of the novel, really hard marker
Very knowledgeable.
I took English 1080 and 1101 with Dr. Colbert. She is an amazing prof and a hilarious person. Grades hard but is fair. Always has funny anecdotes. As long as you come to class (she's strict about attendance) and try your hardest, she'll be more than willing to help you out. She gives positive feedback and is overall a great prof!
I just had Dr. Colbert during the summer. Good prof, gives good outlines, and helps students maxamize grades on their assignments.. but I would agree with the rest, she does seem to lean on the hard marking side..I did the same english class with a different teacher and my final grade was an A, but in this class, I got a c+
She is absolutely hilarious and a lot of fun. I love her attitude. She's not an easy marker, but she's always willing to help you get better and will grade as many drafts as you need. She puts a lot of effort into teaching and grading and she knows her stuff. Never saw anyone read off Shakespeare without looking at the book until her!
Marking was bad.. she taught the course well though.. She loves Iago :)
Great prof ! She really cares about your grades and is extremely helpful. Attendance is important ! She's quite funny as well which really makes the class interesting. She also choses great texts for her classes.
I took both english 1080 and 1101 with this prof and she was exceptional. She's very fast to respond to emails, she makes things very clear in class. She makes a huge deal out of attendance but if you do she'll do anything for you! Tough marker but it's worth taking her class!
Incredibly nice woman! Hilarious and interesting to listen to in class! And she will do anything for you as long as you attend class! However, she is a bit of a tougher marker, but she'll help you to improve your writing skills! I recommend her, but only if you're willing to work for that A
Dr. Colbert is by far one of my favorite professors I had this semester, so funny (if you like sarcasm), the texts she uses are very interesting and she definitely knows her stuff. If you need a good English prof, I highly reccommend her.
By far my favorite professor. She was very caring and respectable to students who did their work and attended class. I would go to her to see what was wrong with every assignment and she would sit down with me and go through it word by word. Incredibly helpful prof, very fair and genuinely cares about her students. If you can, take her class!
Loved her! She is so nice and cares how well you do!! She is also very funny :)!
Very helpful, hilarious if you're into sarcasm. decent lecturer, poor novel choice for the most part. overall a good prof, would probably take a course with her again
Enjoyable class, very relaxed, laughable atmosphere. But when it comes to marking essays, Carolyn Colbert is a completely different person. She's one of those profs who has fun in class, makes a lot of jokes, and then marks essays very hard, and states that the highest mark a first year can get is 80.d
Dr. Colbert is an amazing lecturer. I was a little worried about taking this course as it is all poetry, but she made it enjoyable. She was so kind when my mother was sick during the semester and asked about her several times. I cannot recommend Dr. Colbert enough
Heard 80's were impossible in her class, totally not true. If you put in your best, you'll come out with great marks. Take full advantage of passing in rough drafts, she's open to it and really helpful. I would recommend her to anyone, interesting course material. Best prof of my semester for sure!
Incredible professor. Lectures go by quickly; always a good laugh. Kind of a tough grader, but respectable and always gives good feedback. Most required readings were okay, every reading was made exciting by her though. Registered for her next 1101 class next year.
Amazing prof. Must attend class and books are mandatory. A bit of a hard marker but strives for her students to do the best they can.
Possibly the best professor I have encountered at MUN. Very fair essays, with helpful hints. She makes going to class worth while, and anytime I missed a class I deeply regretted it.
One of the best profs at MUN. If you can follow along with her notes and attend class, you'll do fine. Super helpful when reading old literature and is very clear on what she expects in an essay. Would recommend to any first year.
Nice professor, very helpful and funny. She will make first year English waay more bearable.
Really easy going person, very reasonable about the cost of books and only asked us to buy 2 and very low prices. Makes jokes but going to class is a necessity she gets kinda pissed if you don't go lol. Overall definitely recommend her!
Best prof I've had. Went out of my way to take her course again next semester. She makes english easy to understand and explains everything in her lectures. It's easy to do well in her class. She's hilarious, very approachable and chooses interesting material to read. Love her!
Dr Colbert was by far my favourite professor this semester. Her lectures were always made bearable by her humour, and I never felt the need to skip class. She is a tough grader, but only because she knows what her students are able of. The textbooks were very affordable and her expectations were clear! Please take her class if you have the chance!
Favourite thing about this course was her choice in novels, they were very interesting. A helpful and understanding women who knows her stuff. Interesting sense of humour and isn't for the kindhearted. Good English prof for first year students.
Dr. Colbert is an awesome prof who really helps you understand and enjoy english! Would highly recommend her to all
I am very happy to have had Dr. Colbert as my English teacher. She's a very quirky woman who made for some interesting classes. She gives good feedback and is very helpful.
She is a really good prof. She makes class enjoyable and gives really great insight into the stories and novels. She is a really tough grader though. You really have to work for it. Don't skip class because she takes attendance.
While she can be a tough grader, if you go to class regularly she will sit down with you and edit a rough draft of your paper and fix grammatical errors to ensure you end up with a good mark. The readings are interesting but she does get off track a lot causing her to fall behind on the schedule but other than that she's a good prof.
Really funny and makes class interesting, hard grader though.
Had her for English 1080, my favourite prof this semester for sure. The layout and expectations for the course are given immediately, requirements and additional info for assessments are described very well in class so attendance is a must. Very quirky, shares funny stories and definitely knows how to make class enjoyable.
Dr. Colbert is fantastic. I improved my writing and got over my fear of public speaking in her class. She is so kind and helpful.
Carolyn Colbert rocks! She hates people who don't go to class, so make sure you go! I learned so much in her class. Make sure you go to see her for help
Dr. Colbert is the best. She is sooo funny and really cares about her students. Tough grader but she will help you improve if you let her. Important to attend class.
I have taken four courses with Dr. Colbert and she's the best. I found her to be interesting , challenging, caring. I did my best work for her. I couldn't recommend her (and her shoe collection) more highly!
What an interesting course. Dr. Colbert really knows her stuff and gives extensive feedback. She is quick to respond to questions and is active in the forums. Highly recommended!
Responsive but a VERY hard grader, don't take the online course unless you have time to do 2-3 discussion posts a week. Not very opened minded in regards of literature interpretation. BUT she goes have a clean evaluation structure for online , just be prepared for her to have high expectations of you even thought its only a first level course.
Dr. Colbert couldn't have been better. She answered questions quickly and followed up in the discussion forums. The course material was interesting. Yes, she's a tough marker but it's so you will improve.
Dr. Colbert is great. The course is really interesting.
Dr. Colbert is an awesome prof for first year English! She's very clear with what she expects from you and allows lots of easy opportunities to get a higher grade. Make sure to go to class, ESPECIALLY the class before an in-class essay. Generally a hilarious prof, would definitely recommend.
A LEGEND. Although initially somebody I thought to be a tough grader, Dr. Colbert proved to be my favourite prof of the semester with her excellent feedback, straightforward grading criteria, and hilarious personality. Shes willing to review drafts and will make you a better writer. Id without a doubt take her again.
LOVED HER. She's freaking hilarious, and actually makes the course material interesting. She does make you work for your mark, and I would definitely recommend going to classes, but it's definitely worth it to have her as a prof. Gives great feedback on essays so that you can improve your mark over the semester. Would definitely take her again.
By far my favourite prof I had this semester. Dr. Colbert is hilarious and makes the course so interesting! Also several "safety nets" built in to her course. Would definitely take again. ALSO make sure you attend the last lecture before every in-class.
Dr Colbert is by far the best prof Ive had. I wasnt sure how I felt about her on the first day because of her sarcasm but thats her sense of humour and shes hilarious!! Very clear about what she wants and has lots of safety nets. She takes attendance so definitely show up because that will affect your mark with her. Definitely recommend!
Dr. Colbert is my favourite english prof! She's very clear about grading criteria and will edit your paper in full if you see her before the due date! Her lectures are great and she's super funny! Two in class assignments and she provides the topics for both beforehand for preparation.
She's tough though I learned so darn much from her. Attend her classes and use her office hours, she puts in so much for students. I've gotta be a leprechaun who's found his pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
Extremely tough grader
Nice person. Extremely hard grader. Feedback is unclear. Not open minded when it comes to interpretations.
extremely hard grader and it is not always clear how she grades either.
This course was fantastic and the material was so interesting. Dr. Colbert was active and encouraging in the forums. Id take other courses with her if I get the opportunity.
If you take a class with Dr. Colbert, it is guaranteed that you will improve your writing skills! This lady is a gem! If you send her a rough draft of your essay before it is due, she will edit it for you and send it back! Because of Dr. Colbert and her awesome feedback, I am much more confident in my writing abilities.
We covered really interesting texts, plus related movies and TV shows. (Seriously, Ive been waiting all my life to study Anne of Green Gables.) Carolyn gave great feedback on assignments and discussion posts. I felt I participated more than in a regular class. Highly recommend!
A fantastic course with a fantastic prof!
I love Dr. Colbert. I found her to be fair, but challenging. I recommend her unreservedly.
This is hands down one of the best profs at MUN without a doubt. She makes the class entertaining and she actually wants her students to succeed
Best way to start a day is with Dr. Colberts English class, very nice always making little jokes and very fair with her grading. Gives makeup assignments to replace crappy grades, never a bad class.
I took my first English course in university with her and I would absolutely recommend anyone else to do so given the opportunity. She gives good feedback, responds to emails and questions quickly, and will even give you feedback on papers before you submit them if you email her beforehand. Once again, I can not recommend taking her class enough!
Dr. Colbert is so funny in her lectures. She is not an easy grader but really enjoyed her class
Dr. Colbert was amazing to have for my first English course in university, and I would absolutely take her again! She will review your rough draft and make comments which will help you get a really good grade if you follow them. The assignments weren't hard or time consuming, and she offers chances to replace low grades with a higher one.
Amazing prof. Easy interesting readings. Accessible outside class. Will review assignments before you pass them in. Improved my writing. Funny. In class is mostly readings. 2 in class assignments, 1 at home assignment, Final Exam. Fair grader. Take this prof.
Wonderful woman. I pick her for my prof at every chance I get. Cant recommend her enough
If you get the chance to have her as a prof, 100% do it. She gives great feedback as well as safety nets to help you get the best mark possible in the course! Great personality and very easy to get in contact with!
Funny and nice but can get snappy if you dont understand something. Email her questions instead of asking in class she gets impatient.
Dr. Colbert is such a great prof for first year English. She picks great books and her lectures are hilarious. This is my second course with her. Shes fabulous.
I cant recommend Dr. Colbert enough. In high school I hated English but Dr. Colbert made me love it again! The course material is interesting and there isnt that many assignments. She reads the books in class but doesnt post all the notes online. Shes wants you to do well and as long as you talk to her or go to her office, she will help you.
Dr. Colbert is simply AMAZING! She's very clear about what she expects from you, and is always willing to read a rough draft or help you out! She truly wants you to succeed! She's a prof who understands that you have other courses, so books are usually read in class unless asked otherwise. Honestly, she is just such a great english prof!
I took Dr. Colbert for English 1090 and absolutely loved her class! The books she chose to teach about are very interesting and made it enjoyable to write about! She gives great feedback especially if you go to her office hours. She made me love English class again after hating it in high school! She wants you to succeed!!
Found her classes difficult. After taking a few with her I'm finally self-defeated and will avoid in the future. VERY discussion heavy. Worth 30% of the grade, and you have to post a minimum of three substantial posts weekly. A tough grader as well.
Dr. Colbert is great. The course is VERY interesting, the texts are wonderful, and there are films! I would take another course from her in a heartbeat.
I havent studied English in years but Carolyn is so kind and helpful. The course is well organized and well paced.
I dreaded taking these course but Dr C made it understandable. The course consists of discussion, midterm, proposal/bibliography and final paper. No exam.
Dr. Colbert is wonderful. Sh is responsive to students and so encouraging. While 2000 is not an easy course, she makes it enjoyable. Discussion allows you to rack up marks.
Dr. Colbert is a good prof but a bit of an oddity. She was engaged and knowledgeable throughout the duration of the semester. 30% of the semester's grades come from discussion posts so it is very possible to get an A if you put in the work. I found I disagreed with some of Dr. Colbert's feedback on my essays, but it was not a major problem.
Dr. Colbert is a real gem. The course is interesting and engaging. I would take another one with her in a heartbeat.
This was a really interesting course. Dr. Colberts notes helped me navigate the texts and the discussion kept me focused and engaged. She is always willing to read drafts of your work. Highly recommended!
2000 is not an easy course but Dr C made it manageable. The discussion was work but an easy way to build up marks. Im doing a second course with her next semester.
I have taken 5 english courses at mun in the past ands this was by far the worst. It seems impossible to achieve higher than a 70 and when she hands back essays with comments from her included it feels as though she's calling you stupid. Avoid if possible
Dr. C is SO helpful. She will review drafts of your papers before you submit. I find her encouraging and the material is very interesting.
Not bad. Gave good feedback on drafts and papers, but was very rude in emails. Made me feel like I shouldn't email her for questions.
Dr. Colbert was great for my first English course. She returned work quickly and gave opportunities to bring up your mark. I learned a lot in one semester.
Doc C, I LOVE her. very witty in her own way. Gives amazing feedback and is quick on responding to emails. You'll get a response the same day. There are weekly lectures, which are very informative and weekly assignments. It's a Heavy workload but that is expected in critical reading and writing courses. .
Colbert is a wonderful prof. Shes really funny and her lectures are always interesting, plus she only expects you to do a few essays and gives good constructive criticism! She really prepares you for any formal writing you have to do at MUN. Definitely recommend her!
Dr. Colbert is lovely and I would recommend her to anyone. She is funny and lightens the mood of the class, making her readings thoroughly enjoyable. Her grading is for the most part very fair although she can sometimes be harsh on punctuation errors. Attendance is not mandatory but greatly recommended.
I loved Dr. Colbert! She gives relatively easy assignments that aren't hard to do well in, even if you do them pretty last minute. Go to class because her in-class notes cover everything that you should include in assignments that may not be posted online. She is hilarious. Would definitely recommend.
Amazing and always ready to help
I absolutely loved Dr.Colbert. She made this course extremely fun and I could take it all over again. She gives amazing feedback, and really helpful. You may need to buy a few movies, but other than that, that's all you need for the course. She made the lectures interesting to watch as well. I will definitely be taking another course with her .
People seemed to rave act her, but I did not enjoy her at all. Provided no useful feedback for me to improve on my writing, and assignments were always somewhat unclear. Came off as very blunt and rude. Did not get anything out of this course.
Dr. Colbert is fantastic. She chose interesting texts and was very clear with instructions and feedback. I would take another course with her in a heartbeat.
Was great at giving feedback. Seemed to have graded tough but let you knew where you went wrong. Enjoyed the online lectures provided.
This woman is a doll. Super helpful, gave me good advice. Don't pass in things late without talking to her, she will help you but you must communicate. Not many books and she reads them to you and explains them. So helpful.
Carolyn is a great prof and is always there to help. I did the What is film class and it was interesting. No exams just a couple of papers. She was always willing to review a rough draft copy and give you feedback. During the strike, she was very accommodating.
Professor Colbert is awesome! She makes her classes super engaging, she is super helpful when it comes to assessment and is very approachable!
Dr. Colbert is the best professor I've had in the English department. She's very approachable and her classes are engaging. I've taken multiple courses with her and would definitely recommend. She's open to meeting outside of class and gives helpful feedback.
Dr. Colbert is one of if not the best prof at Memorial in the English department, she is very kind, and she is very accommodating. she gives a fair amount of work. can be tuff on grading, often it's more fair than tuff. she is willing to look over our essays before they are due and try to get you a better grade. I will take more class with her
Dr. Colbert was a fantastic prof! I had her for English 1090 and it consisted of 4 short writing exercises, 2 in class demand essays (topics were given before hand) and a final essay with a outline. The works she chose for these were very engaging as well. Dr. Colbert is very kind, and is understanding of needed extensions as well. Would recommend!
I'm assuming this is just the difference between in-person and online. There was no guidance from Dr. Colbert. She would post one a week about discussion posts and reading, but I didn't hear from her other than that. Her feedback was terrible. There was no explanation of what I had done wrong. I emailed with no response.
Dr. Colbert was SO helpful. She answered my many emails promptly, arranged for virtual appointments, and read my drafts. As I am a very anxious student, I appreciate such consideration. I recommend her highly.
Amazing professor. Her class was very informational and productive yet fun and enjoyable. She gives very clear expectations and feedback and is always assessable. Assignment outlines where always provided as well as resources to help with completing them. Evaluation was fair and many chances to improve were provided.
Carolyn gave me a grade at the start of this semester and then gave me the same grade for every paper/assignment following. My marks remained the same regardless of the amount of time, effort, and quality varying for each one. I ended up with a 70 in this course, which was my lowest mark by 12%. Critiques are harsh.
Dr. C has the course set up so there are opportunities to earn marks, like through the discussion forums. Discussion was worth 30% and if you put in the effort, you could build up a lot of marks. I sent my drafts for review, which was another big help. I honestly enjoyed the course and learned a lot. Dr. C is the best.
Caroline is very considerate and available to give feedback on work. She always sets clear guidelines on what she expects for work.
Great professor, I loved that this was an English film where I didn't have to read. The only downside was the insane amount of discussion posts, it's not 2020 anymore, and I don't want to write 3 posts a week.
People think highly of her. I cannot agree. Harsh grader and explains a minimal amount of information for heavily graded assignments. I received a 70% on one assignment and couldn't get any different grade on any evaluation, no matter how hard I tried. Feedback is useless and doesn't do anything to improve my writing. Rude & belittling.
Dr. C is the best. I took both 1090 and 1192 with her and she really helped me improve my writing. She selected great books and she gave really interesting assignments, many involving film. There were lots of ways to improve your mark and lots of help if you asked.
Dr. Colbert really prepared us for writing assignments and boosting our marks. She gave a lot of instruction plus held workshop days so that we could prepare. We could prewrite part of inclass assignments at home to include in the finished papers. We could redo one of our research exercises. Shes the best.
Overall Dr. Colbert was a great professor. She was a difficult grader however she gave great feedback and offered to proof read before submitting essays. She is extremely accessible outside of class but her classes are super helpful so def recommend going. She kept class interesting and was very clear with what she wanted!
Dr. Colbert is the best English professor at Memorial. She provides clear grading criteria, excellent feedback and is always available for questions. Dr. Colbert's class is very enjoyable and she provides ample opportunities to recoup lost marks or replace lower marks.
Absolutely phenomenal professor. Immensely funny and clearly very passionate about English and literature/film. She gives wonderful feedback and is always very clear on what she's looking for. Quick with responses to emails and always willing to answer questions. Best professor I have ever taken at MUN! What is Film was an awesome English course!
Dr.Colbert was the best teacher I had my entire first year. I had her for 1090 and 1192 and thoroughly enjoyed both courses. She grades fairly and gives excellent feedback and is clear on what she wants. Not to mention she is the funniest teacher I've had in my whole life!! If you get the chance choose Dr.Colbert.
Professor Colbert runs a well-structured class with clear expectations. I found using unstuck study alongside the textbook and attending office hours very helpful for excelling in this course.
Passionate and lovely person. Evaluation structure is accessible. However she has a list of writing rules that is separate from task instructions (when it really shouldn't be) that consists of tens of rules that are superfluously anal, and she confusingly seems to mark leading with them; making her grading not only brutal, but oft unreasonable.
Dr. Colbert is so funny. The course is great and there are safety nets to help you along. Recommended!
Dr. C makes everything so clear. She is quick to respond to emails. The books chosen for the course are interesting.
Great prof. Many say she is a tough grader, but she strives for her students to do well In this course, she'll review your work before submission and leaves clear feedback. she is very accessible outside of class and very respectful. Her classes are enjoyable and she always cracks a joke or two. I would recommend for English 1090.
She can be an hard grader however she is very willing to provide help when needed and even gave a option to do better on something that we may have done poorly within the semester. I highly reccomand her, one of the best english teachers that i have ever had in my life. Shes also quite funny whichs keeps the lectures light and fun.
Colbert is a good prof and she gives great lectures that always keep you engaged. I took her for a Shakespeare course (I despise Shakespeare) and she managed to keep it interesting. She can be a bit of a tough grader, but I found that if you apply her feedback your grade will improve (a little).
English 2000 with Dr. C was a great course. We had four analyses and a final research paper. She was helpful outside of class and her lectures were hilarious.
Dr. C is an amazing prof, the best I've had at MUN. Tough grader but gives good feedback and tells you exactly how to improve your grade. Replies to emails very quickly and genuinely wants her students to do well. Very understanding. I misread an assignment and got a 0 and she accommodated for my mistake and gave me an opportunity to make it up.
Dr. Colbert is a great professor! She is definitely a hard grader but gives good feedback. I don't know if other people had this issue but I found that when I incorporated her feedback to my work I would still end up with the same grade. That being said, Dr. Colbert class has drastically improved my writing and I would recommend her to anyone!
Would recommend! I had her both in-person and online and she was excellent for both, but I'd slightly rather online. It's clear what she wants from the amazing resources she posts. I thought she was a very fair grader, although maybe slightly picky. She could be easily contacted when emailed and was great with feedback. I'd easily take her again!
Dr. Colbert is a tough grader, but her lectures and feedback are amazing. I have taken 2 courses with her now, and my writing has improved greatly. I recommend taking her 2001 slot if you can!
She has amazing lectures and explains the material very well. She is a very tough grader, but fair. I wouldn't mind taking another one of her classes again.
Dr. Colbert gave the two best lectures I have ever heard at MUN. One was in this course. She is simply phenomenal.
If you have the opportunity to take a class with Dr. Colbert, you 100% should. She is the absolute best.
My first english prof at mun and is why i am not pursuing english. I followed her directions clearly for each assignment, read every book and still barely passed. She is very funny, engages conversations with students in class and lectures were interesting but I believe there are better profs to take for a first year english course.
Dr. Colbert is a truly phenomenal professor and person. Her choice of texts—all connected to pop culture—made the course truly enjoyable.
ANGEL! I have her now, and she is making me love English. She is super funny and sarcastic, and I am very sad because I don't have her next semester ? :(
Dr. Colbert is a good professor but I have never been graded so hard in my life! I always felt that I followed all instructions exactly and I just never did good. She also told us that she would never give someone over an 80% on an essay which is just not realistic.
Dr. Colbert was my favorite professor in my first semester at MUN. She gives great feedback and many chances to improve your work. Recommend!
Hard grader but will help you a lot during office hours.
Dr. Colbert was one of my favourite professors, she's funny, but she's very particular about the quality of your writing. My one piece of advice is to TAKE ADVANTAGE OF HER OFFICE HOURS!! Before submitting anything I would have her read it over then make the recommended changes. Everything that I submitted that she read over, I got 100 on.
