very well-rounded, however, the lectures were a bit too confusing

Se's the best! She's brilliant and funny and knows soooo much

She's awesome--If you want to actually learn something she's the one to take, but you've GOT to keep up with the work--she expects it! Very interesting and she's interested in the subject matter too...Very smart and animated.
shes great. makes everything interesting and she is very helpful. However, she expects alot from her students. Her tests are o.k but youve gotta study. Fantastic teacher!
I liked the class. The lectures can get boring and the tests are not easy but if you read and take notes you'll be fine. She's very nice too.
One of the best professors I've ever had! Makes class interesting with her lively lectures and she's very nice. Tests are kinda hard, but if you take good notes and study, you'll do fine.
Very nice person, good lectures. The tests are hard, but good notes should take care of that. There will be a 12 page term paper though. Fair grader. Take her class if you can handle the paper, and besides its only one.
I agree. Class is hard as hell but she's nice and very smart.
She is very knowledgeable and makes learning the material very easy. She has a story for every country and political system we study. Very understanding and helpful professor though she won't be so helpful if she suspects you're not doing the work.
Extremely clear and engaging lectures. The exams are essay based and challenging. They are extremely fair but you better know the material. She is also not bad looking!
Great Teacher, very comprehensive and helpful when you see her in office hours. Great experience overall
Can you say psycho. She'll spend the very first day lecturing you as if you are an escape convict. And the rest of the time being arrogant & rude. Way too much work. FYI: I take more than 1 class...Thank you! Would never take another class of hers
Awesome prof, very helpful, always at office hours. Lots of hard work but very fair. Makes class interesting, good sense of humor. Knows her stuff, excellent at conveying material. Has high expectations of students, I got excellent grades from her. Highly recommend.
Workbook assignments are a joke, paper requires some time, overall not a bad teacher.
She is a fun professor, her lectures jump around a little but if you can take notes then you will be fine. The the tests are long and cover alot but are not terrible. 12 pages term papers though, so if you can't handle the paper and essays on tests you might not want to take her classes.

My notebook is full of doodles, wasted my time. classic liberal prof . I guess teaching is optional in her contract b/c she gets off topic just to make Bush jokes. If they were funny i wouldn't be complaining. in honors class she admitted she didn't understand some of the books we read.
Great teacher, very interesting lectures, a fair amount of work, but tests are straight-forward and not too difficult if you've studied. I've taken three of her classes because she's so friendly and has a nice sense of humor.
Definitely another left-winged prof to add to the rather long list, but otherwise a great teacher. Will help you out whenever it's needed. Lets put it this way I was failing a few weeks before the final. All you have to do is show effort in your work and on your term paper and your set.

Who cares if she's a blatant liberal? She's nice and willing to accomodate every student. She keeps assignments easy, and keeps classes interesting. Besides, she is much better than most C&E professors. If you make intelligent points she'll respect you.
Professor Dudek is a flaming liberal and I'm pretty conservative- but aside from a comment or two here and there she's not an idealogue- she was very funny and her admittal that not even she understood some of the C+E curriculum makes her honest and down to earth, not a professor who knows all and is never wrong. Great Professor- recommended!
Actually made us laugh in a C and E class! Just for that she is the most amazing teacher ever. Soooo nice, although her paper assignments were sometimes a little hard to understand. Pay attention to what she writes on the board. She provided some all-time classic school moments, lol.
Great teacher! Although C&E was ridiculous, she kept it tolerable and class discussion was always fun. and she loves Star Wars, so make sure you put it as much as you can in every paper.
Enthusiastic professor who is always willing to clarify, and cares that students learn. Encourages class participation. Is readily available for office hours if necessary. Generally fun person, too!
Dudek rocks! I'm so proud to have been dubbed a "Eurosnob" by her! Oh, and she's hot :) Take that.
she is a very good professor and helps us understand about european politics she likes jokes about politics and she says she is a eurosnob personally i believe she is a great instructor you rock dudek I never asked if she has any familiar bond with cerzy dudek chealsey goalkeepere????????? she is hot and she rocks!!!!
Very nice proffessor. Test are not easy but if you study you should have no problems. Essays are ok but she thinks she knows everything about Europe. Lot of work. Good luck.

I have had Dudek for numerous classes and she is awesome. Tough, but a great professor. Maybe if you could spell you could get a better grade on your papers. She has great 80's references, but certainly does not look like the 80's. She is very cool and definitely hot.
Thinks she knows everything. Tests are hard, almost as if she wants you to do bad.
Professor Dudek is the best teacher I have this semester. Not only is she very informed in the realm of social science, she also seems to realize that humans have other things on their agendas beside reading countless stories written by writers that professors think are influential. She is an extremely nice person, and her class was very fair.
Dr. Dudek is probably one of the best professors in the PSC department. class is tough but If you go to class and take good notes and know them well you will get a good grade...I had her two semesters in a row and got an both times A. papers seems hard but if you make a clear argument and just make sense you will do well. Exams are tough but fair.

She is very particular, and does not like to be challenged. If taking one of her courses in 2007, expect plenty of stories about the months she spent in Argentina since she loves to brag. Yes, she's liberal, but so am I. It's just that she rubs you the wrong way with it in a very tacky way. Remember she's trying to ascend the ranks in academia.
She's very demanding, but fair. She expects alot from you, don't take if you don't have to.
Professor Dudek is certainly a demanding professor, but I learned a great deal in her class. She is very knowledgeable, funny, upbeat and a kind person. Her travel stories are very helpful to put concepts into context. If you want to get something out of college, then definitely take her class.
She is the best Professor at Hofstra, hands down, not only is she helpful, but is super hot. I loved her class and wish I could take more. She has a great sense of humor and even respects Republicans. Only take if you want to learn and have fun!
She def knows what shes talking about. Tries to keep class interesting and fun. She is a pretty hard grader and her tests aren't too easy. Takes a lot of studying, but if you do- then I'm sure a good grade is attainable.
she is the worst teacher ever. she made me hate the subject. very boring, unclear, so arrogant, and is very demanding. she's always trying to handicap students with homework just to prove she's the boss. just please, for your sake, don't take her. if you want to learn something look for somebody else
Dudek is definitely demanding, but it is college. Isn't that what we are paying for. She is very smart, knows her material and gives entertaining lectures. If you want to learn something then take her classes. If you would like to waste away during your college years, then definitely do not.
One of the best poli sci teachers I have ever had!
Dudek is great, but very demanding!
She's nice and all...but her paper topics made no sense most of the time and when you asked her about them she found her way around it. You never know what you are going to get on assignments. Don't get me wrong, she knows her political science...but when it comes to talking about the books...I find her unhelpful most of the time.
dudek is very smart, but tries too hard at being funny. she doesn't manage the class very well and digresses easily. her lectures are decent, and she makes a point of teaching material instead of opinion. overall, she is a good teacher... just not great by any means.
A good teacher, but the class I took is best only for those already heavily interested in the subject. The textbooks she chose though were fairly badly written, and I think maybe bad choices. Classes were fairly interesting though. Probably best for only PoliSci majors though. Also, as far as professors go, she's not bad looking.
typical political science class.. midterm, final, short film paper and a horrible term paper. she's a very nice women and is willing to help her students.
Dudek is a great teacher, very knowledgeable and willing to help her students. go to class and take notes and you'll be fine.
She is very nice, and as long as you pay attention, you will do just fine!
What a catastrophe. Vague, unfair grading policy and completely unappreciative of students who are willing to go the extra mile and do extra work. She bases your total grade on 2 papers and 2 tests, for which her feedback makes no sense and doesn't help. Why criticize my rhetoric in a PoliSci paper, this isn't English Comp. Terrible! Wouldn't take!
As a non-PoliSci major, this class was very challenging, but Dr. Dudek's passion for the subject really shined through her teaching. The exams and papers were quite hard and time consuming, but this class is very rewarding. You will realize that your knowledge about the area will increase immensely after taking her.
Prof. Dudek is a really passionate professor and clearly loves what she does. her lectures help a lot, but she can be a tough grader.
Professor Dudek is so sweet, and as long as you pay attention and take good notes you will do fine in this class
The Best professor at Hofstra, and certainly the most approachable. She is extremely enthusiastic about what she's teaching. She's rather sarcastic, but in a good way. She is ver very nice. Her papers assignments are great because she gives you a lot of leeway to write about what ever interests you.
great professor, very demanding and challenging but probably the best in the polisci department. your knowledge will greatly increase after taking it!
Definitely makes class interesting with her stories about traveling the world but appears kind of snooty at the same time. Things must be PERFECT in order to get a good grade. Tests are otherwise easy.
She's a good professor, she understands her subject and it shows in her lectures. You can practically miss a week of class and still get a decent grade on your tests as long as you study the textbook. But grading policy can be a bit icky, you have to pay money for one of the news sites and the quizzes from it has a huge impact on your grade.
I loved this class! And Professor D is pretty funny. Pay attention in lectures and you will be fine. There are review sheets for the midterm and final.
Professor Dudek is one of the top professors in the poli-sci department at Hofstra. I am hoping to take one of her other courses in future semesters. She is extremely helpful and looks out for all of her students. If you follow the material in and outside of class you will do fine.
I took this class last year and Prof Dudek is nice and very helpful. Lectures are interesting. The tests and essays were quite easy-would recommend her class to poli sci and non poli sci majors!
Prof. Dudek is great in class and I liked her lectures. There is a lot of class discussion which gets interesting. She does a great job at explaining all of the topics very clearly and connects them all with real world experiences and her experiences in various countries. There are three essays which all come quick, but the workload is manageable.
She's alright. Get used to her sense of humor.
Profesor Dudek is bae. Shes like the cool mom that will always support you with everything. For my PSC 132 class, it was a small class of 8 kids. But she made sure that it was fun and intimate. The course has 3-4 MC quizzes consisting of 10 questions. 1 mid term, 1 research project and 1 final. All of them manageabl. PLEASE DO TAKE HER. She da best
Tough grader. Gives term paper that you should do ahead of time. Will give you feedback if you hand in early. 3 quizzes on Economist articles must study. Midterm and final. Both have essay portions. Non political science major, I got a solid grade so not too hard if you put in a little effort. Didn't use textbook. Tests mainly on lecture notes.
Professor Dudek is very unclear in lectures and is hard to find outside of class. Her assignments are difficult because of her lack of guidelines. The textbook was not helpful. She would cancel a class and then post a lecture that was clear, unlike her in person lectures that went off on a tangent. Final was difficult. Avoid if you can.
I thoroughly enjoyed Dudek's class. She really purveys the material in an interesting way and definitely expands your knowledge on the topic. Textbook is not required, but a subscription to the Economist is, as she gives quizzes on topics taken directly from the issues. Great experience!
A really great teacher. Tests are easy multiple choice and one or two short (like 2-3 sentence) answers. A few papers throughout the semester. She really encourages participation and everyone in the class was really comfortable to talk. 100% recommend.
Professor Dudek is awesome, had her for a writing intensive class and she made the whole thing pretty painless. Very understanding when it comes to personal issues. No textbook really needed, but the Economist subscription is worth it, very interesting and there are quizzes on the articles. Just wish the term paper had more to do with class content.
The best political science professor at Hofstra! If you're willing to do the work you can get an A without struggling too much. I learned more in her class than any other class I've taken at Hofstra. Highly recommend.
Worst professor I've taken at Hofstra and I am a political science major. Just blatantly rude to students and has no interest in them doing well. She is unclear in her grading policies and instructions and thinks her class is the only class you are taking. Not sure how she is the political science chair at Hofstra. If you can I recommend NOT taking
Dr. Dudek's classes are very enjoyable to be in. Even if you don't always agree with her politics, it will still be a good learning environment. I highly recommend her if you are a political science student. If you show up to class, keep up with assignments and study before tests, you will do great.
A very kind and caring person. Will make accommodations if needed. The class was a few essays, voice threads, and two test.
Professor Dudek is the best professor I've had during my time at Hofstra. While her classes are rather demanding in terms of assignments, you will learn a lot. I strongly recommend taking a class with her!
Professor Dudek likes student participation and connecting lectures to today. If you get an unsatisfactory grade on a paper, she allows you to rewrite it for a better grade. She assigns a reasonable amount of work, including a few papers, articles, and some readings from the textbook. She can be quite strict if you're unprepared, so do your work.
Strict rules with tough grading standards but very engaging and knowledgable professor.
Gives 3 papers over the course, doable but a tough grader on writing. Tests are mostly easy if you are paying attention and taking notes. Basic "reflection" assignment (3 questions based on a textbook reading), as homework a couple times. Generally pleasant class and very helpful professor.
Carolyn Dudek was okay...wouldn't recommend. Class was boring and not so engaging. Often times, class would be canceled or moved to listen to a speaker speak.
She was pretty good, definitely knows the material and is good at teaching it. Likes connecting history to current events, and if you participate in class you'll do great. Big term paper, but she has you work on it throughout the semester and gives you feedback throughout, so it's really manageable. Would recommend!
You will be better off not taking Dudek. Don't know what her problem is but nothing you turn in is ever good enough for her. It's one thing to be a tough grader, but she just always found something to complain about. There are a million other professors to consider before her. No idea how SHE of all people runs the PSC department...
