Very tough grading on papers and exams are extremely difficult. Way to much work for a one hundred level class.

I have her right now, and I completely disagree with the person that said her tests are too hard. They are so straight forward. I mean I studied 2h the night before and got an A. Her papers I'm not so sure about. Learn alot trys to make herself very clear

She makes you want be taking other courses in the psychology field. Her lectures are far from boring and she really makes the class interesting. I would definately recommend any of her classes.
Dr. Fallahi is an awsome teacher. She is willing to help you get 100 on papers and the tests are exactly what she tells u.
Dr. Fallahi was an awesome professor. Her lectures were so interesting and she reviewed exactly what would be on the exams so there were never any suprises. She makes you consider psychology more seriously because she makes it so interesting.
too much work for a 100 level class
very difficult class, a lot of work, tough grader, only 3 exams
Amazing woman! She is brillant about psychology and really is eager to teach. Her exams are hard and her papers require a lot of time, but she is ready and willing to help. She does whatever she can to make the course as easy as possible. TAKE HER
this was my 3rd semester taking her, and it is because she's a great teacher. brilliant professor, is always willing to help her students get the best grade, but she has a lot of papers.
Had her lecture hall class, no papers given, only 4 multiple choice exams, the lowest grade was dropped. Her lectures are all power point slides, and they are posted on-line so you can print them out. She is always willing to help and offers xtra credit

Excellent professor. She is soo helpful and nice. Gives very clear notes. Lots of extra credit opportunities. M/C tests that were fair. Posts everything on the class website.

She is a great teacher, if you have her for a lecture she puts all her slides on the internet and if you go and listen to her you will pass the class easily. she makes things very interesting!
she's wonderful. she makes the it interesting. she posts everything on her website. lecture class with her was awesome, i dont think i ever skipped a class, it was that good.
Easy as hell. I hardly ever went to class and I got an A-. I didn't have to take the final ever.
She was awesome! Made me want to take more psych classes and i'm not a psych major. I reccomend her to anyone looking for a really interesting teacher and wants to walk away with a lot.
When I had her she was a difficult teacher, but it was not in a lecture hall, she gave a term paper that was HARD! talked too fast and more about her children than anything else she discouraged me from more phy.
She is tries to be helpful, but she is hard! She talks to damn fast, but puts things up on her website! However, her casestudy is a pain in the KISSER and her tests are toooo long to take in such a short time. Part multiple choice, part ESSAY!
She's so nice and helpful, reminds me a lot of my mother. I was 1 pt away from getting an A and she let me do last minute extra credit. Definatly an understanding teacher, and funny!
Loved her! She was very interesting and taught very well. A couple of papers, but if you write them the way she wants you'll get A's. Never had to study for her tests because she taught so well! and gave many opportunities for extra credit!

Hardest and best teacher I ever had. Didn';t do well but help with a rewrite. Even if you do poorly on test final is easy because she gives you all the answers
I love Dr. Fallahi. Her classes are interesting and fun. Take advantage of the extra credit opportunities. Her paper is involved, so plan accordingly. She will even look it over beforehand so you're guaranteed an A.
she is worth taking
awsome
Gets to the point. Is respectful and fun and basically does a great job with the material she teaches
Nice professor and class is not very demanding. Her notes are very vague (actually too much so) and basically she goes over everything from psy 112 and nothing new. Class can be a bit of a drag but overall good professor.
ok but not great
We had a big lecture class so it was pretty easy. You take a lot of notes..and have to end up goin online to get them...bc she often goes fast. BUT u want to b in class bc she lectures a lot on stuff not on the notes. She is pretty funny, and tells of personal experiences, etc to help you get the idea.
Take her lecture if you can - very easy and very little work. Be sure to take notes on things she says and not just the slides. Also - she gives you the option to take the final, TAKE IT! you don't need to study to do well on it. She is also very interesting.
easy class, fun teacher. i'd love to take one of her lectures again.
very easy class. thought tests were going to be hard but just study notes and they are easy, and she curves if she has too. the paper was not bad just took alot of time, but you can show it to her as many times as you have to until she says you will get an A and that is what she will give you

Tests were pretty hard and unclear. Class was boring. Overall not a great class.. she's definately a good person and high spirted but for an intro to psych class it was way too involved
one of my favorite professors! extrememly helpful, wants her students to do well, exams are on the lecture materials, they're easy as long as you come to class and pay attention
She's not boring to listen to during lectures, but the tests and quizes are very hard. I studied so much and understood the material but the tests are multiple choice (and long) and 2 answers always seemed right! Huge lecture hall, and many students, so there is not really any personal contact with her. Ok class, if youre into psych....
good teacher
A very wonderful professor - avoid the lecture size course, if she teaches a smaller class, take that! Very knowledgable, clear, and helpful when you have questions. The exams are difficult, though, even with lots of preparation. Offers extra credit opportunities - do Experimetrix right away, don't wait until end of semester. Work hard for grade.
Very nice and approachable, but tests can be difficult. Has a really good heart and will help you in any way she can. Great person. Get quiz grades by going to other lectures. Not a very demanding class
Very friendly woman, powerpoints of notes up online, very helpful. Tests/Quizzes are diffucult, but drops the lowest of each. Attend outside lectures during class time for easy A quiz grades. Allows extra credit. Do Experimetrics at the BEGINNING of the semester! Very personable woman, would take again for other Psych classes.
took the lecture class with 150 students....went to class the first week then only showed up for exams and quizzes which were conveniently announced on her web site. gives review sheets for exams. easy A
She is one of the best teachers in CCSU. She is so nice, so helping, and so accommodating. Her lectures are informative, her papers and tests are reasonably easy, and she tries to help the students out as much as possible. I would highly recommend her to any student.
funny lady, very lively lecture. i got jipped cus i was in the lecture class!! she wsa still entertaining and very thorough with her notes though. try to take her class on a smaller level, i wish i did.
She is super nice and knows the material. Notes are easy seeing that they are all power points and all you have to do is print them of the website. She drops the lowest quiz and test grade so the final becomes optional. Do it take her!!
Fabulous woman. Be grateful if you have her. Her lecture was so easy. SO MUCH EXTRA CREDIT and her in class stories are funny. She usually notices when the class is getting bored and usually ends the class after about 50 minutes. Take a few light notes and just basically listen. If you miss a class here or there it's not the end of the world. :):)
SHE ROCKS!! You are given every chance to pass this course. You should study and look over notes before Quizzes and Test... but it's okay if you don't do that well once she drops the lowest grade.
Dr. Fallahi is a wonderful teacher, but more importantly a good person! She always brings in home videos of her own children acting out experiments to help the class understand things. The tests and quizzes are on the material presented in class and she always helps everyone prepare. Take her class if possible-- and be prepared for an A!
She is the nicest lady EVER
Dr. Fallahi is an awesome teacher, she made me appreciate Psychology. Easy experimetrix work, easy extra credit, exams are alittle difficult, quizzes arent too bad. Definently a great teacher
My favorite class of the semester...amazing teacher, very helpful. Offers 30 possible extra credit points so it doesnt matter if you get low test grades. Useful knowledge, notes are online.
She is a very knowledgeable professor with a vast amount of experience, but she is not clear in her expectations on papers and is extremely inconsistent in grading. There are no other professors who teach this class who I would recommend over her because she is the only one who teaches this class. You will have to hope she likes you.
This professor is not clear about her expectations of her students and does not adjust her grades accordingly. She occasionally marks things wrong from her own notes. She reads papers too quickly and has does not grade consistently. She expects the students to know things that she does not teach. She does not seem to like attractive people.
Greatest professor I have ever had. Explains everything very well. Take her if you want to learn psyc 545.
Great teacher, but tough class. Finished with an A, but through a lot of work. She is very helpful, gives extra credit, tests are very hard, 4 days of prep are needed for a good grade, make sure to go to the classes even if they seem pointless, you learn a lot and what she usually has to say will show up on a quiz or test, use the book to study
Worst teacher ever. Fails to see the world from any other view then her own. No wonder she is now teaching rather than giving therapy!
Dr. Fallahi was one of the best teachers I have ever had in my life! She is very approachable and nice. If i ever had a problem or a question, I would e-mail her and immediatly get a response. Her tests are a bit challenging, but not if you studied. Everything she goes over in class is online, so if you were to miss class, you wouldn't get left beh
She is the BEST teacher in the world! I learned so much from her! She has a lifetime of experience working with patients...she really knows her stuff! She works hard to make the class interesting!! Take her class!!
she treats psych236 as if its an upper level psych course. i learned things that i feel i didnt need to learning in a lifespan development class. take this class only if you're willing to go above and beyond for a 200 level course!
Professor is a nice woman. But her instructions can be confusing and unclear. Also, her work is that of a graduate level course, so if your extremely busy, reconsider her courses.
Very nice lady, unfortunately it felt like we learned about a lot of non-Life Span Dev stuff. Quizzes and tests were frequent, which was good because a lot of people did poorly on them. Excellent extra credit opportunities, my grade was raised by 7% thanks to that. I would recommend her.
Teaches like this is a graduate level course. Many exams and quizzes. Gives a lot of extra credit opportunity...use it, you'll need it. Interesting class but tough to live up to her standards. Have to study for exams. Go to class EVEN if it's "optional".
She is awesome but she is so hard. She always gives extra credit for students so you can bring up your grade. She uses a lot the text book for test, so you better read the text book everytime she mention it in the sylabus
Fabulous teacher! Best teacher i ever had at CCSU. PP used in class &posted on class website, class discussions, gave alot of opportunities for extra credit. Not easy, but if u follow along, u shouldnt have a problem. GREAT TEACHER!!! very nice
Amazing lady, has the best personal stories, very intelligent, very patient, book is expensive but you don't need it at all, never opened mine, 20pts extra credit EASILY attainable, she obviously is very passionate about psychology, especially children.
This professor is not too hard. If you do the work most of the time and study for quizes or exams you'll do fine. DO ALL THE EXTRA CREDIT, it'll boost your grade about a letter grade, seriously its awsome..
If you study for all the quizzes and exams you should be fine. Do all the extra credit you can to boost your grade up 1 letter grade. She was interesting and knew a lot about the field.
Dr Fallahi is a nice lady, but I struggled to maintain a good grade in her class. Take her only if you have to time to commit to the workload. She expects you to be as smart as she is.... which, for me, was not possible. I'm an undergrad after all!
Excellent professor who wants her students to succeed. Always willing to help. Lots of small quizzes, midterm, final and one big research paper. There's a lot of work, but if you do it, you'll know the subject really well. Definitely recommended if you want to learn child psych, but not if you just want to skip class, do no work, and get an A.
Dr. Fallhi is the best professor. She is very helpful whenever you need help and explains everything very clearly. She is funny sometimes and extremely nice lady. The best professor in CCSU.
Absolutely remarkable woman. Is possibly my favorite professor! Lectures are SO interesting, very passionate about her field, lots of experience prior to teaching. Outstanding role model for young women looking to further their education. Found tests a little tough and oddly worded, but got decent grades on them (80's range) TAKE HER!!
Dr. Fallahi is a very nice woman. She is passionate about Psychology and encourages her students. She isn't the easiest of professors, but if you like Psychology, you will learn a lot from her. I recommend taking her Exceptional Child Psychology course, it was very interesting.
The class was more work than I wanted for an elective but it was interesting and she's a great professor, one of the best I've had at Central. She knows her stuff and her clinical/patient stories are interesting. Don't take her if you're looking to just float by, do the work and it'll pay off in the end.
What an AWESOME professor. She gives super interesting lectures and gives you real examples from her career as a psychologist. She knows her stuff and is always open to help you out if you're not understanding something. Tests are a little tough but studying and paying attention will pay off. She offers extra credit and drops the lowest test grade!
This was the worst class that I ever took. She treated this class like we were all psychologists and should know the language. And we weren't. I did all the extra credit and studied extra hard and still didn't pass, if I had known beforehand I would have dropped this class sooner.
Great professor and a wonderful person. Although she won't just give you the answer like many professors, she does everything in her power to help you. The class was hard, but not unreasonably/impossibly so. I actually felt like I was learning. DO NOT take her class if you want an easy A, or to be babied. Her class is how college courses should be
Dr. Fallahi is a very nice genuine woman. She doesn't take attendance so you're free to miss her class, but you'll miss out on a lecture. However, if you like to read there is a lot of information in the book and she posts her powerpoint presentations online for reference.
SO CREDIBLE! She knows everything and is so professional. She does not let her biases show and if you just print out her slide shows and memorize them you will get an A.
She goes through a lot of material in one class. her tests are hard, and if you fail more then 2 its hard to bring your grade back up. read the book! I turned in a test she asked how i did, said it was hard, she said how many hrs did you study? i said 6, she said you need to study at least 30 for my tests.
Cool Lady. Very easy if you do the reading, I have never done so well in a psych class. Attendance is not mandatory but it?s good to go, lots of in class activities, only downfall is it?s like I was back in high school. Kind of boring but it?s an easy A.
There is a lecture every class and once and a while a moviead she loves clips from youtube. I enjoyed this class, she made me laugh, and she is willing to help you if you need it. She wasn't on you about attendance. Taking notes is a must. Don't need the book. Got an A in this class.
Great professor. This was my first lecture class at ccsu with over 200 students. She organized the class beautifully and was very clear when teaching the material. She used a PowerPoint presentation everyday, so it was easy to take notes. Tests were all multiple choice. Unlike most professors at central, she really knows her stuff AND really enjoys teaching it. She stands out as one of the best professors I've had.
Very nice lady. Good teacher. Class is fairly simple, but requires some studying, book wasn't used much.
worst teacher ever. gave a midterm and more than half of the class did not finish because they ran out of time. she barely took that into consideration and did not want to listen to students who felt their grade did not reflect what they knew (rather info missing was due to lack of time). Do not take.
You have to pay attention and focus and take LOTS of notes. Easy class if you enjoy studying and learning. Extremely nice and loves to help out. I only recommend this class if you're prepared for the studying.
she is very helpful. the exams are 80 questions. 4 or 5 total, drops lowest exam and quiz grade. has extra credit that brings grade up a full letter grade. i got a in class bc of it. organized but doesnt stick to sylabus. book is necessary.
Exames are very hard but she drops lowest grades. Gives you an APA format paper very hard class. Very hard I will never take her class again. I got to much trouble with her. Does give you 30 point extra credit but takes for ever to get a grade from her.
dr. fallahi is a tough cookie. she's a nice person, but she talks down to students and goes on a bit of an ego trip when she assigns things ("you guys are in college, you should be able to do this..."). she grades papers pretty easy. drops 2 grades, but exams are super hard; i thought i knew the material well each time, but i never got above a 75.
Dr. Fallahi is very hard, she can be mean and does talk down to students. This class was very hard, it took most of my time to study and left only a little for my other classes. I did get an A in this class, but I would never take her class again.
I really liked her! Thought the class was going to be hard but was manageable. You gotta take notes though. The book helped me a lot with exams. Exams were tough but not bad if you study. She gave lots of extra credit. I'd definitely take a class with her again
Do NOT listen to the previous comments. Dr Fallahi is an awesome professor. Her class requires a lot of work, but you're in COLLEGE. She's willing to help students with EVERYTHING. She sat down for 45 minutes and corrected my research paper for me before I handed it in. She's also extremely intelligent and you will learn so much from her Take her!
She is definitely hard but you will learn more in one class that you will the whole semester in other classes. Her lectures are very loaded so don't miss a class.
Shis very straight forward what is taught in class and the readings that are assigned is the material on the tests. She uses a program called connect which what really helpful studing tool. This class is time consuming but not hard. She is always willing to help. Even puts up all powerpoints and other content on Blackboard!
This lady knows what she is talking about, but this class with her was the hardest class I've taken at ccsu. You are expected to know a lot of information as if you are already a psychologist. It was a really interesting class and I learned a lot. You will work really hard, but don't expect to get the grade you deserve,
This class is extremely difficult but you learn a lot in one class. She will make time for you if you need extra help. Meeting with her also is very helpful when doing her big assignments. Intro to Clinical Psych book was helpful at times but Clinican's Thesaurus was more helpful when writing papers.
So caring and knowledgable about psychology, attendance wasn't mandatory but her lectures are packed with info so I recommend going. Never used psychical book, only online. Recommend only buying Connect subscription. SOOO much extra credit take advantage!!!! And drops lowest exam/quiz. Super easy A.
She is super knowledgeable. I used the book but not a whole lot because I knew a lot of the material from intro to psych which I took back in HS. Most assignments are online. Very interesting lecture, not boring at all. Lots of oppurtunity to get a good grade. Big class and attendance is not mandatory, but it's in your benefit to go. Easy A.
Awesome professor!
unless you want to DROWN in work do not take this class! her lectures are boring and the work load is RIDICULOUS. more than 2 quizzes per week plus homework and in class quizzes and tests! this lady is crazy! she has the most confusing grading platform that leaves you with no clue what your grade will be until the end. total disaster class
She is a great professor who brings in real life examples into the classroom. She is really helpful and makes the subject more interesting and fun. If I could take her class again I totally would. Before taking this class I would advise taking an intro to psych course so you know the basics. She is really nice and easy to get help from.
This class was online and a winter course so there was a lot of information in a little amount of time. Overall she was available through email and very flexible around plans. We had four papers, one per week since it was a winter course. If you do all the work and read you will do well. I recommend her.
Wonderful professor! I would take another class with her in a heart beat! Super helpful and clear! When it comes to difficulty, its average, so if you do your work and an average amount of studying, you will do very well. She loves her students and is very respectful! One of m favorite professors!
My class was a lecture of 200 people she did not care about attendance or anything. The class was kind of boring but sometimes it was interesting. We had homework every week but they were graded bases on completion. Also you can do SONA for extra credit
This professor is can be very boring. I sat in lecture and would always zone out, it felt like it just dragged on. Plus there's a lot of material that is tested and if you don't study enough, you wont get a good grade.
Fallahi is my favorite professor. She often pairs lessons with stories of her own kids. Syllabus makes the class look more overwhelming than it actually is. Majority of assignments online. Textbook available online but having physical copy helps during chapters. 4 quizzes, 4 exams but cuts lowest grade and extra credit available. I love this class!
LOVE this professor! Anybody getting angry about the work load clearly does not realize they are in college, not elementary school. Her assignments are reasonable and not difficult. She's super funny and tells hilarious stories. So much extra credit available! You have to have something seriously wrong with you to not pass her class.
She's head of the psych department & really knows what she's talking about. She was beyond willing to help you during her office hours, & if you had a problem with SONA, she'd definitely be all over it. At the end of the semester she drops the lowest exam & 2 lowest quizzes. Entertaining lectures. Extra credit. Easy online quizzes boost your grade.
She gives homework but it's usually optional but it helps if you complete it. She gives amazing lectures and uses great examples. She has great stories about her family and she's really down to earth. Ended her class with an A. I'd love to have every professor be like her.
I took this class as a lecture and it wasn't bad. She does give out homework weekly but this saved my grade because my test grades were not strong. The best part is she has tons of extra credit which boasted my grade even more.
Ended her class with a 104%, put in maybe 80% effort. SO MUCH EXTRA CREDIT. If a ton of people didn't show up for class she would give everyone who did extra pts, you can write essays and do extra sonas. Its worth it. She's amazing and I wish she could teach me everything, seriously. TAKE THIS WOMAN SHE IS WONDERFUL
She is a wonderful professor. Her lectures are clear and she's very helpful and understanding if you need any assistance. I consider her my favorite so far through the semester. I wish all of my professors had her personality. She gives a ton of extra credit, so I recommend taking advantage of it if test taking isn't your thing.
Took this class in a huge lecture hall with a bunch of other students. Lectures generally pretty interesting and class flies by. 3 exams and 1 optional final (lowest one gets dropped). Easy sona credits, and offers tons of extra credit (brought my grade up a full letter. Answers emails quickly, and tests aren't too bad, but you need to study
Even with cheat sheets I was barley pulling 60's on her tests. Other than that, many opportunities to make up for hard grading. Quizzes online so you could use your book/ internet. Could get up to 60 extra credit points which was very helpful. Class was in the lecture hall so going was optional, lectures were boring so I stopped going, still passed
Easy A. Drops your lowest test score so if you're happy with your first three exams, you don't need to take the final. Absolutely would take again.
Awesome teacher. Gives the whole class extra credit just for showing up sometimes. Just pay attention in class
I have gotten 100s on ALL of her homework assignments and I am BARELY passing. As if being in a lecture hall isn't bad enough, she is extremely test heavy and reliant. Both times i have personally contacted her she was very rude. Seems approachable when teaching, but when approached for clarification or questions, shes not so nice. DONT TAKE!
One of my favorite professors ever. She's really nice and talks a lot so get ready to hear a lot of her own stories. She gets off topic often but some of her stories are pretty funny. She lets you use a note card every exam and she sometimes curves a grade when the whole class does bad on an exam.
Her lectures are based off of powerpoints that she posts on BlackBoard, so if you skip class, you should be okay. She drops a ton of grades at the end of the semester so if you forget an online quiz, just do well on the others. Has online homework, not too hard. Her lectures inspired me to declare psychology as a major, this professor is amazing!
Dr. Fallahi is the best Psychology professor I've ever had. I absolutely loathe Psych, but she genuinely made most of the material interesting. Dr. Fallahi gives lectures which line up directly with the material on the tests and will always give you nearly immediate feedback on emails you send her. If you get the option to take her, do it!
Rude. She does not seem to want to help students with the experiences I have had with her. When at office hours she belittled me over a mistake she made and failed to apologize.
Does not reqiure a lot of effort in this class. If you do the assignments and look over powerpoints, youll pass. And if you actually study, you'll get an A for sure.
The class was not what I expected, it was a joke really, full sheet cheat sheets for tests, bad grades dropped, deadlines sometimes extended. There was no motivation for me to learn. I did not learn in this class, the grades were handed to me. If youre looking for an A with minimal work, here it is.
Nice professor, but she excepts you to drop everything for this one class. Study guides take hours to do (if you put that kind of time in). Lectures where okay, just a lot to handle in one sitting. Not a terrible class but not the best either.
Her lectures contain a lot of into, but at the same time they aren't explained very well. She is very very sweet though and accessible to answer any questions you may have in and outside of class. For her tests, you can have cheat sheets which helped a lot.
Mrs. Fallahi is absolutely amazing! I started off a little rough due to personal situation but she worked with me and I could trust her and talk to her. she is very understanding and her classes are very good. One thing is her class is very big. I have over 200 students in my life span class, but that's about it. I would recommend her for sure!!
She's great! Her lectures are all from power points online. If you don't do well on a test, there's plenty of homework and other grades she puts in that'll make up for it. She's hilarious and very passionate on what she talks about and knows her stuff. Easy A
She explains terms thoroughly and offered extra cred assignments about every week. If taking dev. psych , do not rent the book because you will need the connect card to access online material. Buy it instead w/ card. Four exams total and drops lowest exam grade, so I did not have to take final. Come to every class and do all the work to do well.
she allows many opportunities to get your grades up. she also has a drop the lowest grade policy, which is helpful
I took this course in a class size of 300. She makes the lectures interesting for a class that is so large and difficult to pay attention in. Tests are extensive but you are allowed one sided sheet of notes per exam and there are study guides. You can do up to 30 points of extra credit. Occasionally in class worksheets are handed out.
Strict on grading, not much help outside of class.
Didn't have a class with her but she is a mean entitled person as an adivsor so I feel for anyone who has to take her as a teacher
Professor Fallahi is rude, and thinks too highly of herself. Basic class just sit there and look at slides but don't ask her to go back to a slide because she will get mad. Love psych but she made it miserable..
Lots of extra credit opportunities
She is very funny and makes her lecturers very interesting, the time flies. Would totally take another class with her.
Typical 200 cap lecture class. Reach out to her and she'll be happy to help! Lots of interesting anecdotes about her personal life and a few extra credit opportunities. She drops a lot of grades at the end and it bumps your grade up quite a bit! You don't have to take the final if you're satisfied with your grade.
Well organized and was always on top of things.
Dr Fallahi responds in 3 minutes or less. She is very on top of every assignment, and is very organized. Her lectures are interesting. Attendance isnt mandatory, but you will not pass if you skip class and are not engaged. Would totally take another class with Dr.
She is very funny, she uses an online text book that you still need to buy but its nice. Her exams are pretty hard but if you study its okay. You get a one page hand written cheat sheet for each exam. She was so good though. We had a lot of group work that she graded but she takes some off at the end of the year and she drops your lowest test grade
She's amazing at explaining concepts to help student understand, no matter how complex. She also gives out a lot of extra credit options. Very friendly and funny prof always looking to benefit students. Her exams are 100 q's but very fair. No essays which is nice. I really enjoyed her class and would highly recommend you take her!
There are three exams and the final (final is not mandatory), a couple of group work assignments, and homework. She drops a lot of grades and gives extra credit assignments frequently. Dr. Fallahi is a very organized and attentive professor, I definitely recommend taking this course!
Very difficult class. There were literally 100 questions in the big exams. It felt like I was taking the SAT's again. Lots of reading and hw. For a class in the 100's level, this was unnecessarily intense.
Honestly one of the best professors I've ever had. Attend the lectures and do the work, that's all there is to it. Plus she gives extra credit opportunities and drops the lowest grade out of each category.
her exams are lengthy but you get a cheat sheet and all the questions are multiple choice. her lectures were very interesting and i enjoyed the way she taught. she even drops your lowest grades at the end of the semester. she gives lots of group assignments but it honestly helped me make friends. super awesome professor.
I don't think I've ever seen worse teaching skills. You go into class and she does a lecture for 30 minutes and then makes you do group work in groups of 4. If you have less than 4 people in a group, you get a 0 on the assignment. She also doesn't let you finish exams but will make you stay after class until you finish the group assignment.
She likes to brag about herself. Says she's done many things at yale but if you do a little research on her, you'll be able to tell she's not as great a psychologist as she believes. She has a VERY spotty employment and only did family psych for 2 yrs in 1994. The university of Hartford also only let her teach intro for a year. Power Trip Heavy.
Family calling her in the middle of class, inappropriate behavior during her lectures, no sympathy towards those who want to pass. do NOT take.
She is a great prof and knows what she is teaching. Don't skip any of the classes because she likes to do in class homework assignments with groups that cannot be made up even when sick. Exams are not bad, it is about 100 mc questions for all three exams, and she allows you to bring a cheat sheet. There's also online homework that is online with mc
Her assignments are not hard, but there are so many. I don't know how she has such a good rate my professor, I have a 3.8 GPA and I was DROWNING in her class. If you are taking this class you can kiss your social life goodbye. she does let you have a sheet of paper for exams though which is nice, but it's because there is SO MUCH information.
A few essays at the start that I thought weren't needed. She is caring and easy to talk to. You should absolutely pay attention in her lectures because you can use notes on the exams. Good luck if you are shy taking this course cause there is group work almost every class and she encourages you to communicate with you classmates.
Lots of in class group projects. Dr. Fallahi is very intelligent and is excited to share her research to her students. Big lecture, but there are many grade boosting opportunities.
AWESOME PROFESSOR. Listen to the lectures and you'll do great! I ended with a 99 all because of my lecture notes. Homework can take long but just take notes on the highlighted parts of the online textbooks. Very easy to do well in class. Hardest part is the in-class group assignments, but if you're with a good group you'll do good. She is great!
Attendance is mandatory because there is a lot of group work that you cannot make up. You will need to buy the textbook online ($109) she gives online quizzes and homework through the online textbook. She allows a cheat sheet for each exam and you do not need to take the final if you do good on the first 3 exams.
Dr. Carolyn Fallahi is a legend and the most iconic person on the CCSU campus.
Good professor, but sometimes it was hard to get her attention since her class was a big lecture. You will easily pass if you go to class and pay attention to the lectures.
the best psych professor i have ever had
This professor is kind of a mess. 4 tests 100 questions not counting the final. Gives 20 minutes at the END of class to do group work with a group of 4 people. Goes on rants about what she would do in the situations we are discussing. Only way to keep your grade balanced is the connect assignments.
Weekly online hw assignments which were easy but super time consuming. If you missed a hw assignment you get a 0. End of class group assignments almost every class, if you missed this then you get a 0. There is no make up work in this class. Exam heavy, four 100 question multiple choice exams. Gives 5 points for bringing a cheat sheet to exam.
Her class wasn't very entertaining. I found her teaching style fine, but her grading was the most difficult I'd ever recieve. Don't miss class at all or you'll miss her in class assignments. Those assignments no matter how hard I tried I couldn't ever get that 13/13 always 11/13. Her exams are 99 questions which is crazy. I wouldn't but you could.
Professor Fallahi's class is challenging but manageable. The lectures are informative, and the online homework is time-consuming but helpful. unstuckstudy proved useful for exam prep, along with the cheat sheet option.
Very professional and knowledgeable. Great experiences to tell you about. If you do the work and pay attention you'll pass.
Very knowledgeable. Beware of in class group assignments about what you learned in the class beforehand. Has chapter quizzes almost every week and exams are pretty heavy and long, as long as you are a good note taker and don't procrasinate on studying for exams you will be fine.
Professor Fallahi is a great professor! The class is very lecture heavy and at times the material can be hard but she explains clearly, and puts everything up on blackboard. Does give extra credit, but theres no make ups or late work. Don't skip class or you'll miss the in class assignments.
She is a decent profesor but she would be rude whenever i had questions and never really prepped us well for exams, would NOT take again.
She takes her job very seriously even if it is an intro-level course which means tons of homework, notes, and assignments. Attendance is mandatory because of her in-class assignments. She is phenomenal at responding to emails (150 people in my class alone). I would not take her for credit requirement because of how much work there is.
Dr. Fallahi is a great professor. She is funny and keeps her lectures interesting. The class is very heavily weighted on group projects so attendance is very important
Talks about what she would do in certain situations as though what she is saying is the only definite answer to solving those problems. She gives us class group work almost every class which can not be made up and that has zero flexibility. Within those group assignments you are also almost never gonna get 100% and she gives max 20 mins to do them.
Currently taking her and she is very picky with grading and in class assignments. You must work with how many people she asks for you get a failing grade for the assignment. Random 3-5 page papers. Don't enjoy her class and i wouldn't take her again
She is not the best professor and the lectures are incredibly boring. Attendance is technically not mandatory, but if you miss a class and there is an in class group assignment, you will get a zero. She is also not flexible when it comes to you missing a class. The exams are also pretty difficult even though they are multiple choice.
Genuinely insufferable. Very annoying voice. 100 question exams in an INTRO class, only allows for a one sided cheat sheet with so much material to memorize it's insane. Lots of group work in groups of 3-4, if you have less she will give you a zero and send you a rude email. Condescending to students.Makes mcgraw hill connect mandatory ($92).
Dr. Fallahi doesn't excuse in-class work, even for emergencies. When my grandma passed, I let her know I'd miss class the next day. She refused to excuse the three assignments and showed no empathy. As a psych professor, her lack of compassion felt unfair and disrespectful.
Never got above an 80 on any of the exams. Horrible teaching methods. She will give you a 0 if you don't have over 3 people in a group. Makes you calculate your grade yourself even tho blackboard can do it for you. Avoid her completely
Don't take Dr. Fallahi. For a psychology teacher she is not understanding at all about your personal life and she'll call you out in front of the entire class. I hated her class specifically because she was the professor, and if it was someone else I would have liked the class and retained information much better. BIG NO.
bad teaching, a pick me bully, rants incoherently for 30 mins then makes u do group work and teach urself. have to get McGraw hill connect- doesn't cover topics from lecture, and she doesn't cover topics from connect hw. can't take notes from slides bc they're random, or from connect bc she won't teach that. just bad don't do it unless you have to.
Very sweet lady but bad professor, she will call out people and publicly embarrass them. Her teaching methods are so complicated and her tests are impossible to pass since she has us do McGraw hill but not teach the material for it and her notes are so random. Genuinely can't understand for the life of me and depending on extra credit to pass
You can tell Dr. F is truly passionate about her career and has lived so many lives in psychology, which makes her that much better of a professor. Her assigned work may seem excessive for the course level, but for me, it was just enough to fully understand the material. Would recommend her 110%.
She literally picked on someone to stand up and answer a question to embarrass and shame them from not knowing it. She's childish, petty, arrogant, and cruel. Do NOT take her!
I didnt really like her at the beginning of the class and thought I was gonna fail. After the first exam and a misunderstanding she literally gave me her hand and helped me fix my grade and pass with a B+. She cares about what she does, and is clearly passionate about her job. Even trauma dumped on her a little and gave me life advice. Love her!
