Class was fun and really laid back, it was a summer class however. Class has an oral presentation, a 4-5 page paper on a legal topic, 2hours of court attendance and 1 test. I would for sure recommened her.

She is an easy A, just go to class, and get your in class presentation done and the tests are easy. She lets you use a 5x7 notecard with the tests and on the final you get to use a neighbor to help you plus another 5x7 card. Plus she's good to look at.

This class is so fun. She has fun assignments like going to watch court. Her tests are really long but you get a cheat sheet. I would definetly try to get this teacher. She is really funny too.

This is the best teacher at UVSC. She goes out of her way to help everyone. Very pleasant, great examples, just makes the class fun. I had a tough semester, and finished my paper at the last minute (almost literally), but she still gave me a grade based on my effort, and she made class enjoyable and informative. I never felt uncomfortable about speaking with her, or joining into the class discussion.

Great class. Easy A. Holds detailed reviews for each test that you would be a fool to miss. The blue book is not necessary, we used it once. Tests are long, but are open book and note. Will help you and work with you. One presentation, two hours in court, and a lot of extra credit. Easy A!!!!!

You have to go to class to get an A. If you miss more than 3 times your grade starts to get cut. She gives great test reviews and gives you the answers to every question. Tests are open book, open note. If you get anything less than a B+ in this class you seriously suck.

I felt like I was in a psychology class talking about feelings so much. She pretended that she was keeping track of attendance and assignments but at the end she just asked us. Very boring.

Take this class over the summer if possible! she was super easy, almost no homework, and tests weren't hard just long (she says they should be fast and easy but they take for ever!). she is easy on grading. Where do I even begin? Carolyn hands down is my favorite teacher I've ever had, here's why: -She's has a funny laugh (in a good way), her laugh makes you want to laugh even harder. -She's kind, she'll help you in any way and make sure you succeed! -She's very organized and not a lot of hw besides reading. -She explains the law in a clear way.

Carolyn does an excellent job. She is a lawyer, so she able to apply the principles she teaches. That makes her lectures a lot less boring. The tests are somewhat difficult, but she does provide you with a study guide and will go over many of the concepts of the test with the class. Make sure to take notes. She also brought doughnuts quite often.

Incredibly easy professor. Carolyn was VERY clear with what she wanted from her students. She gave an oral test review and a written test review every time. I would just overview my notes from the oral test review and take the test. In class quizzes open book open note. Difficult if you don't go to class and take notes but her reviews are amazing.

You want this one vs the others! The best way to learn is to read and study book. She does want you to like her, so she does help out. She also does know what she is talking about and is prepared. You will do less in her class than others, so take it from her if you want to have the best chance for an A. Don't miss classes lots of info there!!!!

It's a shame the department issues the tests and not Professor Howard. She does her best to prepare you for the test, and you learn a lot and she makes the concepts easy to understand through personal narrative. Some test questions are just very poorly written, which she acknowledges.

Great teacher, it's just that one can only take so much Business Law in 1 hour. She gives great oral reviews for the final. She says that everything on the review she gives is in the test, but there are always a few questions from the textbook that she doesn't go over. If you want an A make sure you read the chapters in the textbook.

Solid professor! I was very impressed with her teaching capabilities. I learned a lot about business law and how it relates to my major. She gives you all the necessary tools to be successful. If possible, do yourself a favor and take Business Law during the summer semester. It's not nearly as rigorous as the fall and spring semesters.

Awesome teacher! Helps you learn and is an easy teacher so it's a win-win! Knows her stuff since she currently is practicing as a judge and lawyer. I would take another class from her no doubt!

Carolyn Howard is amazing however the class itself is terrible. The tests that the school puts out are impossible to pass. Such a poor system they have. She does all she can to prepare you. If you work hard you will get an A though.

Easiest Class ever! 3 in class quiz's open book. She gave everyone 10/10 on two of them. 4 test's that are mandatory/written by the department that are stupid, but she gives you a great review. She is hilarious and makes a really dull subject fun! She is a judge/Lawyer and shares stories every class. Take this class from her you won't regret it.

Super nice. Very grateful for the help she gave me, I wouldn't have past her class without her. BUT!!! Her lectures are stories, which was okay but I didn't quite understand what was being taught in class. You do have to read the text book which is hard to understand. Adequate professor, great person.

Means well, but she's a little disorganized. The class itself is supposed to be hard, but she does everything she can to make sure you get an A. She doesn't write the tests, so those are hard, but she'll throw out questions she doesn't like. It wasn't hard to get an A, but I don't feel like I learned a ton. Nice lady, but she could make it tougher.

Most helpful class I have ever had. Basically every class is a lecture from different people around different industries telling their stories. Its all about learning how to talk to people and how to get your career path going. Carolyn cares more about her students than any other teacher. TAKE THIS CLASS. Two page paper every week, not hard.

This was an easy class, but no clear grading criteria. Just make sure to talk to her about any issues you have and you will get an A. Really an easy class, just don't miss the test prep classes and if you score low on anything or miss anything talk to her and she will most likely let you make it up or find a way to give you points.

Judge Howard is an interesting professor. She knows about the law coming from a family of lawyers & judges. Pretty disorganized, but class is easy with test reviews (she brings the test & tells the questions). Her lectures are simply reading out of the textbook. Easy, but didn't learn a lot. 4 tests, 1 case study, 3 Quizzes, 1 E.L. assignment.

Professor Howard is the best teacher. She genuinely cares about everyone and wants you to succeed. Practically every week is a guest speaker that shares insight on how to be successful. I loved this class.

80% is the average-high of test scores (all legal tests have tricky wording, she admits it). Studying for tests isn't bad at all. I recommend typing quickly every word she says during the test review or just recording it. Do that and you won't need to read the text for a good test grade. She rocks and is a judge, so good stories. No busy work.

Took 4 tests (multiple choice). She gives a good review so just make sure to take good notes during the review session and you should be fine on the tests. Took 3 in-class quizzes (open book). One engaged learning assignment. One case study writing project (can work in groups). Gives good law examples in class from her experience. Would recommend!

Professor Howard is charming and witty. She gives reviews prior to the tests that match the test closely. Come, listen, and tape the reviews and you will do well. She also lets you have extra credit in the engaged learning that really helps your grade a lot. Other professor is ten times more difficult for no apparent reason.

Show up to class and pay attention. If you read the chapters assigned, then you'll get an A. Just understand basic concepts and she'll explain everything thoroughly in class. You have court attendance where you have to write a paper. If you can, share a book or have someone take pictures of the pages she assigns to read, easy!

Pay attention to lectures, she explains clearly what the book is teaching. No homework, but you will need to read the assigned chapters. She does a review before each exam. HELPS SO MUCH. No other professor does that for legal 3000. She knows her stuff, you just need to be willing to listen and learn.

Carolyn is the ultimate professor. She really cares. She knows her stuff and is able to communicate it with us. The tests are departmental and she tries to teach to the tests and give good reviews. You have to go to court and turn in a paper. Would definitely take her again!

Take this class! Only graded by a few things. Go to her test reviews and you'll do good on the tests. She knows her stuff, she is a judge. You have to go to court and write a small paper. You could get by without the textbook or share with someone in the class. Super nice lady.

I felt like the class was a waste of time. The tests are departmental so she doesn't write the tests. She does a great review before each test so make sure you at least go to class on those days. The case study and engaged learning were doable. The court hours were a waste of time, but necessary. She doesn't not answer her texts/emails ever.

Ms. Howard is the best kind of presenter. She took the focus off of the grade and made the class more about learning applicable information. She made law seem interesting, which made the class much more enjoyable. I almost never felt like I was wasting my time in her class. Definitely take her class if you have the chance. You won't regret it.

Carolyn is by far the best option for this class. She gives great verbal reviews before tests and the the assignments are ridiculously simple. You don't really have to be in class for lectures, if you read the book you'll be fine.

She is a great teacher & is caring. I recommend reading the full chapters, focusing on the terms she goes over in class, and focusing on her study guides. Her study guides are helpful but they wont cover the whole tests. 4 tests + final. Tests are worth 65% of grade. No hw just a case study project & another assignment. Rent the ebook its cheaper.

Cares about students, gives real life examples (she's a judge), couple extra credit pts, and does a verbal review before tests which are SO helpful because they are dept. tests. Grade1 Case study, 4 tests, 1 engaged learning. The required 2 hrs of court time was fascinating and helps apply the material. Take business law from her. Took Spring 2019

She is a very good person and professor. If you show up in her classes, you will get an A grade. She made her own exams, and these exams are based on the class materials she covered in the classes. Her class is easy, and she teaches so well because she is a judge in Springs, Utah. Her summer class included two exams, attendence, and court write-up.

This class was super insightful. Professor Howard gives a lot of personal real life experiences in class which I thought were super insightful. Attend class because the tests are based off of legal terms that she talks about in class. Grading is all based on the tests. She does do a good study session the class before a test comes, GO!!!

Professor Howard was a great teacher. She is extremely caring and understanding especially in 2020 with the challenges of zoom classes. Its mostly lecture & if you attend and participate youll do fine on tests. She writes them herself and they match up with class almost exactly. There is essentially no homework aside from a term project & reading

Carolyn Howard is an excellent instructor. There has not been a more accessible or caring professor that I've encountered. The way she structures the class makes difficult material very doable. A lot of reviews mention a test written by the department, but our exams were written by Prof Howard and catered to what was covered in class.

I loved Professor Howard. I signed up for her Face to Face class but it turned into live stream because of COVID. She made everything very clear and wanted us to pass. She gave us study guides and page numbers to help us prepare for tests she made. She is helpful and always available for questions. She's probably my favorite teacher.

This is a great professor! She was VERY lecture heavy. No power point slides or board used, only her words. This sometimes made it hard to understand a few of the terms she was trying to teach us. Other than that, her class is very easy! Especially for non Law students like myself.

Carolyn was the nicest lady. She was always available if we had questions. She would respond to canvas messages very quickly. She made it very clear what was needed for the class. The whole class is a lecture but is very easy to pay attention to. I have ADD and I've never been able to pay attention as well to any other class than hers.

I was going to take this class with another professor but after the first day, I realized he was too tough. I LOVE Professor Howard! She is amazing. She teaches simply and makes it so every student can succeed.

Super sweet and doesnt require much other than participation and paying attetnion to the study guides. Gives a lot of extra credit options in the form of a 1 page paper of a law topic. Would take her again.

Professor Howard is THE BEST! I just took her buslaw class (Fall 2023) and she is the only professor to take it from at UVU. Her lectures are really fun to follow and she brings the textbook to life. You don't learn a lot from reading, rather watching court cases in class and talking about fun stories she has. Take her class!!!

Professor Howard is a great teacher who makes the material very clear. The class is mostly lectures, but she provides helpful study guides to prepare for the exams. Unstuck study and the textbook were great resources to supplement her teaching. Overall, a manageable and worthwhile course.
