Dr. Massiah has been the be professor I have ever had. I took the web/face-to-face course. Marketing is her passion and it comes through in her lectures. She spoon feeds the requirements and has TAs to help with her large classes. This being said, you STILL have to work for a grade! If you like anal and professional lecturers, you'll like her!
Dr. Massiah is truly passionate about Marketing and her students and it's very inspiring; she'll make you fall in love with Marketing. Read each chapter, keep up with the insane amount of assignments, and participate in every extra credit opportunity. This class is very easy if you put in the effort.
My favorite professor so far! Very passionate about marketing and uses real world examples. Also there are many extra credit opportunities. Take her!
She is so passionate about the subject that it's contagious. There is a decent amount of work but it's really not difficult or all that time consuming. She offers tons of extra credit and posts practice exams. The tests are super straightforward if you just study a little.
Must take her! best professor at UCF in my opinion. Gives plenty of extra credit and is really interesting to listen to!
Great teacher! Very easy class as long as you do the work. DO the flash cards!! They will help you on the tests as well as the practice exams. I did lecture capture because I worked during the actual lectures so I never got to go to the actual class. DO the extra credit! It can bump you from a B- to a B+ or B+ to A-!!!
Really great and inspiring teacher! She made the class interesting, pushed students to do their best, and gave great advice. Tests had essays and you are required to read WSJ articles. The book is necessary for tests! I strongly recommend this class for everyone.
Pretty easy class, just make sure you watch the lectures, which isn't bad because she makes them interesting. You have assignments do every week or two, but they're pretty easy, just busy work. Get the book because you'll need to skim over the chapters.
read the chapters and go over the lecture, and you're good to go. Gives lots of extra credit, take advantage of them!
She is a very nice teacher. She has a lot of work you have to do, but she offers a lot of extra credit. Do all of the work and take advantage of the extra credit, which is not hard, it's the easiest extra credit, and you will do fine. I recommend her.
Dr. Massiah is the real deal - you have to do a lot of work, and she is very upfront about that. Her class is huge (1500+ students), and it is vital to attend the lectures or view the lecture videos. Without that, you are doomed to fail. She is an amazing woman, and wants you to do well. She is the Whoa-Man!
My favorite professor at UCF. She is so passionate about marketing and makes you love the subject. Tests aren't hard if you read the book and take the practice tests. Tons of extra credit but there is a lot of busy work, however it's really easy so it's just easy points. Definitely take her!
By far my favorite professor at UCF. She is very nice and truly wants all of her students to succeed. She makes the lectures entertaining and makes you look forward to class. The only bad part is that she makes an A a 95%, but she offers lots of extra credit. Definitely take!
Dr. Massiah is the best professor at UCF. She is nice to her students, helps you when you need help and really explains concepts throughout the book well. She is amazing. Take her and you won't regret it.
The class itself is not hard, the concepts are easy to grasp and Dr. Massiah's lectures are entertaining. However, she was out for an extended period due to an illness (which is understandable) but the way her TAs handled the class was awful! They used old recordings that were never labeled and no one ever seemed to know what was happening.
Went to class twice, watched a few lectures, and came in clutch with an A. If you have the book and are good at self-teaching, you'll be fine. Just be sure to keep yourself on track with all of the online assignments/quizzes, and take advantage of the extra credit offered.
Great class and great teacher, made the class interesting and marketing very easy to understand. I would definitely recommend taking this class, it is an Easy A as long as you complete the homework and quiz assignments, and study a bit for the tests. Mrs. Massiah was an excellent teacher!
Loves teaching this subject. Very knowledgeable. You will actually learn some good stuff in this class. Plenty of extra credit.
Take her! She is so well organized and all assignments are very clear from the start. One of the first books I found super interesting and an easy read. Make sure to get the online version and do all the extra credit because she doesn't round up at all.
She's an amazing professor. She's extremely clear on what her expectations are. She's always willing to help! Her enthusiasm and passion for Marketing is infectious. There are a bunch of extra credit opportunities that you should definitely take advantage of. The exams are pretty straight forward as well. Take her!
Dr Massiah, and dont you forget it, sets a very high standard for all her students. The first few classes you will understand what I mean almost instantly. Her lectures tend to be minimally useful, and I found reading the book/homework much more helpful. Plenty of Extra credit and anyone self motivated enough should do well, just stay on top of it
Dr. Massiah was an amazing professor, she has a passion for the class and I would definitely recommend taking her if you can. She exposes you to so many things in the marketing and business world that you thought you would never know. I would definitely recommend reading the book. it helped tremendously on exams. Take good notes in class as well
She'll turn you into a marketing major. Get the full version of the E-Book (quit whining and buy it)- go to/watch the lectures and you will win. If that's too much for you then the philosophy dept is in another building.
Great Professor. The tests are easy if you study and read the book. Quizes/Assignments are fairly easy and some Quiz questions are on tests. Just ready to book and you will do great in the class.
Wonderful teachers. She cares about you and LOVES marketing! I didn't get to attend her class because the timing didn't work for me so watched all the lectures online and it was almost like being there. There is a lot of reading & online homework, but if you keep up you will get a good grade. Highly recommend.
Very interesting class, and I hate marketing. The textbook was very hard for me to read as I am an accounting major, so I did a lot with the homework and extra practice. Do all the extra credit she offers!! I got b's and c's on the exams and the e.c. helped my grade out tremendously.
Did not buy the book, just watched the lectures and did the practice exams. It is hard to get an A since she has the +/- scale. Great Professor.
You don't really have to attend the lecture or watch the videos but it's recommended. TAKE THE CONNECT PRACTICE EXAMS MULTIPLE TIMES!! The class was fairly easy but Massiah's extremely knowledgeable. Make sure you study and do the extra credit as well as the PRACTICE EXAMS and this class will be an easy 3.75GPA or above.
Dr. Massiah is a dedicated professor, her lectures are fun and very clear, she covers everything that is on the book and exams where not hard. Make sure you watch the lectures and read the book. Also the activities on connect help a lot do the exam practice and you'll be fine for exams!!!
This is a class that you have to watch the lectures, material from the lectures are on the test. The exams are mostly based on the book though, if you read the chapters thoroughly and multiple times you should do fine on the exams. Exams are pretty straight forward, I got a 98 on the first one.
Her lectures are pointless, most of the exams come from the book. She is inspirational but she doesn't teach or explain anything very well. I took the lecturecapture course which i strongly recommend if you take this professor.
She's really a great professor. She keeps things interesting and is really funny. She really cares about her students and is constantly pushing you to participate and attend important events. She cares. And she keeps to the topic which is good because it keeps it interesting. You won't get lost, study the guides and watch the lectures! Goodluck.
The class offers lots of extra credit and you are pretty much guaranteed a B if you do all the assignments and extra credits. Tests are 55% of your grade, quizzes are best two attempts. The only bad thing about this class is the grading scale 950 points (95%) to earn an A and 890 (89%) to earn a B+
Lots of assignments. WSJ assignments suck bc you have to remember to go back after the due date and grade other students. if you forget to grade the other students you dont get credit. gives study guides but i like to include what she doesnt in her SG outline. can earn upto 20 points extra credit. doesnt grade by % instead by points (10000 total)
I worked pretty hard in this class, but not as much as I could have. If you do all the assignments on times, really study for the exams and do all extra credit you should be gold. I didn't take the class too seriously, and still ended up with a solid B+ Attendance is not mandatory, the best way to study is through the booknotespowerpoints! Easy!
It's a good amount of homework and lectures. You must do the hmwk, watch the lectures and use the study guides! She's a wonderful teacher and makes every effort to make things clear and give you the most points. Would take her again! Earned a B+ due to my limited time for studying.
I am not a Marketing Major but I loved this class. Dr. Massiah's lectures were always engaging and to the point. There are no surprises. You are aware of what is required every step of the way.
According to her grading scale you need a 95% to get an "A" in the class, which is not difficult. She offers a ton of extra credit, the homework is a joke, test & quizzes are easy (if you read the textbook). She is also a very nice lady and cares about her student's success.
Dr. Massiah offers a lot of extra credit opportunities: take advantage of everything she offers you. On top of that, she requires many assignments which seems like a burden, but if you do well on the assignments she offers in the class, you'll end up doing well on her exams. She has 5 exams and you can miss one to make up the week of Thanksgiving.
Massiah is an amazing professor. I don't want to call her class easy, because it takes away from her ability to be such an amazing professor, but I had no problem making an A+ in her class. She gives you a lot of work, but it's really easy and it actually helps you do well on her exams. She gives extra credit. If you don't do well, you're just lazy
She is a great teacher! You will learn, and yes you will have to study. Use the connect practice test and you will be fine.
Amazing professor in the sense that she makes you want to learn and always shows the amount of opportunity to be taken advantage of at UCF. She will not make it easy for you but gives all the necessary supplements and more. There are a lot of assignments but it constantly reinforces the material, in a way you could clearly understand.
Dr. Massiah is very passionate about Marketing and her students, which clearly shows in the way she teaches the course. There is a lot of homework and reading in this class with various platforms you must log in to (Webcourses, Via Response, McGraw Hill Connect, WSJ, etc). Organization, time management, and planning skills are a must.
Massiah is dope. I didn't buy the book because she has some on reserve in the library and I got A's and B's on every test. Watching the lectures before the exams isn't 100% necessary but she does have a few questions from the class presenters. Just study the LearnSmart and you'll be fine. Only thing that kept me from an A was missing a quiz.
Best professor I had last semester. She really loves marketing and really wants to see her students succeed in college and beyond. Lots of homework but an easy way to bring your grade up if you dont do well on exams. She gave a lot of extra credit throughout the semester.
Dr. Massiah is very involved in the lectures and really knows her stuff. She loves when the class is involved, and has guest speakers often. If you pay attention & read it's an easy A. She collects box tops for extra credit- every 10 is 1 point and she allows you to get up to 10 points. I highly recommend her!
10 WSJ Assignments: 10 quizzes. Each quiz is based on 5 WSJ articles. This includes 10 separate written responses to 3 essay style questions. Then you grade 3 of your peer's papers. Connect: 10 groups of online assignments based on the text book. 10 Chapter quizzes based on the textbook. Tests based on book. Skip class teach yourself.
Many questions with two right answers, other than those it is all vocabulary not much conceptual. would not recommend for people who care for efficiency; there are 4 mediums you have to use to take the course (should really only be 2). syllabus times were messed up so i suggest you double check EVERYTHING.
I really liked Massiah, but her grading structure is too high and she gives a shift on of homework. 89 to 95 is a B+ and five tests
Great class! It definitely was tough, took it during the summer and read almost 200 pages a week with a test every week. Definitely you have to be dedicated to take it for the summer no slackers here but i learned a ton!
Amazing lectures. You won't pass if you skip, but I don't know why you would even want to. She is absolutely hysterical and truly makes classes interesting. She really cares about her students and you can tell in everything she does. All this being said she doesn't make it easy, if you are a slacker don't take this course.
i think it sucks that a 95 is an A and a 94 is a B but the class is easy and an A is attainable. She gives tons of extra credit (around 40 points my semester). also the homework is super easy you just have to do it and thats basically extra credit. the tests are just vocab, don't worry about this class
Dr. Messiah was probably one of the best professors I had ever taken. She's funny and make class incredibly enjoyable. Her charisma is great and she lights up a room when she is lecturing. Read the book, do your LearnSmarts and make sure you do the Extra Credit! So much opportunity here and an A is certainly doable if you keep up with the work!
An A is a 95% which was the only reason I never ended up with one, but this professor is extremely knowledgeable, great sense of humor, and gave plenty of extra credit. Absolutely take this professor.
Dr Massiah is a great professor, but I just don't have a passion for marketing. So I didn't enjoy the class as much as some other students. She gives a lot of extra credit, which really helps in the end. Just make sure you do your cases, quizzes, and connect assignments. Also make sure to read the book for the exams!
Great professor. You need a 95% to get an A in this course but its very doable because she give tons of extra credit points. Attendance isn't mandatory but you do have to attend two school events during the course to get credit. Put some effort and you will pass this class with a breeze. Homework is through Connect and is pretty easy.
You really have to stay engaged as Massiah has homework, WSJ reading, case studies, and quizzes almost weekly. It can take 10 Minutes if you do it just to get it done, but I would highly recommend reading everything if you want to get anything out of the class. Do the Learnsmart and extra credit and you will easily get a B or B+
I consider myself lucky to have had Dr. Messiah. She was easy to understand and enjoyable to watch online. I feel I received two classes in one, the text book material and how to be professional. There are many assignments, however, test are easy.
50 points of available extra credit. Busy work left and right. Tests are almost exactly like the McGraw Hill practice ones. Overall a really pleasant professor who had reasonable rules and clearly defined expectations. It's an easy A if you buy a planner to keep track of the 10 quizzes, 8 short essays (250 words), 10 other quizzes, online HW, etc.
Professor Massiah is really passionate about Marketing. She is clear about her grading scale since the beginning of the semester. Her lectures are actually interesting and so is the book. If you read the chapters you will pass the exams. She also gives a lot of chances for extra credit. Homework and quizzes are really simple. I really enjoyed it!
Overall it's an easy class although a 95% is the minimum percentage to be considered an A. Gives lots of extra credit. I was one point away from getting an A, but will have to be satisfied with my B+. She assigns so much homework in 4 different platforms which is annoying to keep track of it all. Never really watched her lectures just read the book
Overall she was a pretty good professor. She can wonder a little bit in her lectures, but the stuff isn't to hard if you read the book. There's a lot of work to do but none of it is rather hard, just time consuming. She offers a lot of extra credit. BUT she will never ever ever curve test grades
She is a great professor and person! I just don't like or agree with her grading scale. her A starts at a 95%, B+ starts at 89%, and her B starts at a 84%... and some of your grades through the semester is graded by your peers which is amazingly harder then you would think. Grades are worth points... 1,000 point total, 950 where the A starts at....
One of the best professors at UCF! The grading scale was tough (95% is an A) but she gives a lot of extra credit to make up for it. There are lots of assignments but they are all relative to the material and will help with the tests. There are 5 tests but if you study the book and do the Learn Smart in Connect you will do well.
Easily the best professor I've ever had. Her class is a lecture capture so it's not required to attend but you won't pass if you don't watch the lectures. She has quite a few assignment but they're all easy and make up for 50% of the grade. She keeps her lecture interesting. I've learned so much from her. Her passion for marketing shows in lecture.
Dr. Massiah is the best professor that I have ever had at UCF. I really learned a lot from her and enjoyed all of her lectures. She is very passionate about marketing and her students and it really shows in her lectures. Don't forget to do any of the assignments because the points add up. 950/1000 makes an A.
Honestly, if you can have a class with massiah, it doesn't matter what the class is. You will love massiah as your professor. I'd take her for any marketing class.
This class was inspiring and if you have questions about getting a job after college then she has the answers. The work is unfortunately in the book so just get over it and do the busy work and watch the lectures, you will get a good grade.
Fall 2016 UCF MAR3023 Dr. Carolyn Massiah is a excellent professor. She is very thorough on her teaching by going through every section of the chapter to improve your understand. Read the chapters, watch the lectures, and do a few homework once a week that EASY. It's a conceptual class. Usually majority of conceptual classes are pretty easy.
First off, a 93 is an A so just warning that you do have to put in some work for an A. She gives a lot of extra credit though. Her lectures are so funny and so inspirational, I actually enjoy watching them every day. The homework and quizzes are straight forward and do not require any work or studying. If you study the lectures you can get an A.
Easy enough to pass provided you watch the lectures and study. Simple A with some pretty good lecturing. You need a 93+ for an A in the course which kinda irked me throughout. She has 3 extra credit assignments giving 1% each so she basically makes you do them if you don't wanna stress about your grade. Other than that great teacher.
93 and above is an A so watch out for that. Super energetic and caring. Offers extra credit and optional homework on learnsmart. Top 25 students in the learnsmart got a perfect score on the final. As someone who got to exempt the final, study the webcourse quizzes and do the learnsmart a few times
This professor is amazing for the simple fact that she pushes you to learn and use your resources at UCF. If you listen to her advice, you can make your time at UCF very beneficial. Entertaining class, clear expectations, point system instead of percentage. Read chapters, do assignments, watch lectures, study and take tests, get an A.
She is such a great teacher! You can tell she really cares about her students and she cares that they excel. The lectures and material are very interesting and she makes class really fun! She provides many opportunities for extra credit, take advantage of them because she wont curve! Study for tests and do connect work and you will be golden!
This was absolutely one of my favorite classes in the college of business! She is a wonderful teacher who cares so much about her students. It is an easy class, almost the entire exam is based on the lecture. I never read the book and got an A in the class. The homework is once a week and super easy. Get to know her and she is great for networking.
She has been my favorite professor since I started at UCF! She takes the time to answer questions and has her students participate in her lectures. Not only are her lectures informative, but she also offers advice to all business majors. She's funny, sassy, and will make a good impact on you if you take her class!
Great speaker and one of the few professors that makes class enjoyable to watch.
Took her in fall 2016 and she was by far my most favorite professor. She has a reasonable grading scale and teaches her students the best values in life. Very strait forward syllabus.
Has good energy, so lectures aren't dreadful to watch. She's really nice and makes clear what is expected in order to pass. There is a lot of work, but nothing too bad. Plus more opportunities to do well. If you read the text book and watch lectures you will pass the tests easily.
She's amazing. Her lectures are fun and there's so much extra credit. You can get by easily on the exams just by watching lecture or reading the textbook.
Only watched one lecture but she seemed very nice. There's a lot of homework but it's very easy and requires little time. My only complaint is that an A starts at 93, so you have to keep up with all the assignments and do reasonably well on the exams to get one. There's a lot of extra credit, though, and if you are allowed one make up exam.
Though she is a really awesome passionate and caring teacher, she assigns a lot of busy work that to me was unnecessary. This class reminded me of high school because it was so easy, and of all the useless assignments. There are quizzes, homework through connect, and you have to pay and read wsj articles.
Best professor ever! She's funny and her lectures are ALWAYS interesting, never boring. She gives a lot of extra credit and it's easy to get an A in this class if you complete all of the assignments and the extra credit which is very easy. She gives you a study guide for exams.
I retained and comprehended 92.5% of the course material but didnt get an A lol that makes entirely no sense. i worked extra hard and deserved an A but i didnt get it. If u want to feel cheated by your grade on the amount of work put into a class take this course to be disappointed
This teacher is bad. Grading scale is unfair and wacky. 90% and i get a B+
Professor Massiah is exceptionally helpful and interesting during the lectures. She sends inspiring emails weekly and is constantly reminding students when assignments are due. This class is easily manageable if you 1. watch the lectures, 2. practice learn smart, 3. read the textbook, 4. complete every assignment and extra credit.
Great professor, those complaining about the grades are ridiculous. She clearly states at the beg. of semester she doesn't curve and what it takes to get an A. You have to complete all your homework and do decent on exams and you can get an A. She gives plenty of extra credit, you have to try hard not to get an A.
Watch her lectures, read the book and do the learnsmart and I was successful. Lectures are very important. Also be sure to get as many points on the easy things like HW, quizzes, etc to get as many points in the 1000 points possible.
Great professor. She's a joy to have as a teacher. Make sure you readily stay up to date on the Connect and Quizzes to get as many points as possible. Missing a few here affected my score for sure. Tests are pretty much direct from the power point slides. Don't miss the class though, she really helps to put it into perspective.
Great professor!! She helps you a lot to go through the material. Gives some extra credit, do the Learnsmart that really makes a difference. Good luck!
Dr Massiah cares about her students and the lectures are outstanding. She sets the expectation during the first class and it doesn't change. If you read the textbook, do the Connect practice tests, and enjoy the topic, you will get a good grade.
Dr. Massiah will treat you like a child and make you repeat things out loud, like when an assignment is due. Lot's of assignments that don't help you learn marketing. Will directly reference lecture material in test questions. 93% is an A, but excess assignments make it easy to get. Don't take if you want to learn marketing, for an easy A maybe.
Extremely passionate about her field and an inspirational individual outside it. Watch the lectures, take notes, and read your chapters and you will do will. I regret not putting a bit more work in for the A.
Her classes are not mandatory however, I recommend going SHE. IS. HILARIOUS! ONLY professor in UCF that gives bonus questions on the EXAMS that she drops during her lectures. Get to know her and she can help you get internships and recommendations. Considering to minor in Marketing if she teaches it. Easy A if you watch lectures and read the book.
An awesome professor with a great sense of humor. Stay on top of your assignments and study the lectures and you will be okay.
Her course is not too hard if you attend the lectures and do the online modules and quizzes, however she's a though grader, you need a 93 in her class to get an A. I got a 91 she gave me a B+, she's pretty straight forward and upfront.
I was one of those students who sat back and watched lectures on Lecture Capture and it is one of my biggest regrets to date. Dr. Massiah is by far the most caring, passionate, inspirational, and overall amazing professors at UCF. Anyone bashing her obviously did not put in the necessary effort. I wish every professor were half the professor she is
Dr. Massiah was one of the best professors I have ever had. She really cares about getting to know as many of her 1500 students as possible. As long as you do the homework and watch or attend the lectures you should be fine.
She is seriously one of the best professors I have ever taken, no surprises on tests, and is easy to get an A in if you study for exams. I was like .2 percent from an A and she is a firm believer on no bumps, so that sucks.
Basic marketing course, only thing that makes it somewhat challenging is that to get an A, you need a 93. Tests are very easy if you read textbook (all multiple choice). Also be sure to go to the extra credit labs, to make sure you reach the 93 threshold.
Dr. Massiah lives up to her amazing hype! She is inspiring, caring, and funny! Homework and quizzes are simple, and for the tests: memorize terms, complete the learnsmart, and do the practice test - you will def. get an A! Also, go to class! It is pretty fun and she will tell you the bonus question/answer for tests. :) There is extra credit, too!
One of the best professors I have ever had, this is the largest intro to marketing class in the nation and I still can't believe how she makes every 1250 of us feel loved and supported. Lecture hall gave her a standing ovation on final lecture. Plenty of extra credit chances, interesting content, funny lectures, easy to understand.
I have learned more real life knowledge by taking Dr. Massiah's class than any other class. She is very sweet and you can see that she is passionate about teaching through her lectures. She will keep you motivated no matter what topic it's about. She has taught me that failing is not the end of the world and I thank her for keeping me motivated.
You can't complain about the grading scale because the EC opportunities compensate for it. You HAVE to read all of the chapters for each test and most importantly, take the practice exam on connect. She always used some quiz questions on the exam so be sure to review the quizzes before you take it. There's no reason you shouldn't get an A.
Professor was fair with exams. Read the text book, complete all assignments, do the practice exams over and over, watch the lectures for bonus questions and you will pass.
In short, Dr. Massiah is one of the best professors I've ever taken. She genuinely cares about her students and is incredibly supportive. She tends to give inspirational speeches and periodic "real talks" in class. Her class is also not hard and her lectures are absolutely worth going to in person.
Massiah's great! It takes a lot to keep a class invested when 90% of them are watching you at home in their jammies, but she does it. You don't really need to read the book but you do have to buy it for homework assignments. Assignments are easy but frequent. Tests are deceptively difficult, and there are a lot of them.
Dr. Massiah is one of those professors that is truly special because she is so enthusiastic about her own material. She genuinely loves marketing and it makes her class that much easier. The 5 tests are nothing if you watch the lectures and there's even extra credit if you need it. If you have the chance, absolutely take her!
Massiah is an amazing professor. There are 5 tests, all multiple choice and each one has extra credit on it. Watch her lectures, read the book, do the homework/quizzes, and do the practice exam over and over until you understand. She gives TONS of extra credit, probably because a 93+ is an A, but it is possible to get with a little bit of effort.
Lets just say I wish Dr. Massiah taught all of my classes. Shes an absolutely amazing teacher and human. Im very sad I wont be taking another class with her because Im an Accounting major. There is plenty of opportunity for extra credit, do the homework, use the test study guides she gives you, and its an easy A.
This professor know how to teach class, she makes lecture very interesting. she gives out lots of extra credits. There's should not be a problem getting A in this class. very respected professor class.
one of the best 100%. I would defiantly take it again. so much respect for this women.
This class was so simple and easy. The book helps a lot for exams, but use LearnSmart to study! Her tests are easy if you study hard, but can be hard if you are not well prepared. Classes were fine, sometimes she just uses the time to promote different organizations which was a waste but overall a good easy class.
Easy class, pretty straight forward exams as long as you do your LearnSmart study materials properly! Be careful about not doing homework assignments because they will bring your grade down significantly if you fail to do some! Overall a ver kind and understanding woman who is VERY passionate about Marketing!
Great Professor! Amazing lectures. Homework is easy and doesn't take long to do, tests are very similar to practice tests she provides.
This class isn't so bad.. But I would recommend for those who want to make an A to not take this class over the summer...
Dr. Massiah is hands down the best professor Ive had at UCF. I have so much respect for her as a professor and a human - she cares so much about marketing and her students and she makes everyone feel welcome in her class. She has certainly left her mark on my college experience and I would take this class 100 times over if I could.
She's an amazing professor, very organized, understanding, and wants her students to succeed. You have assignments due weekly and five exams. You need a 93% to get an A, but she has many extra credit opportunities. Do your work on time, study for the exams and an A is very doable. Wish I could take her again.
She makes the class enjoyable. The only difficulty is the amount of homework, but there is ample time to complete it. Even in the REAL format she makes the class easy. The in-class assignments aren't the best, but in the long run don't affect your grade. If you pay attention you'll do fine, for a lot of my classmates that was too much to ask.
I was not a fan of the Reduced Seating Classroom set, however Dr. Massiah was EXTREMELY helpful to her students. Her course is well organized and she is genuinely caring for her hundreds of students. This does not mean you can slack in the course and get an easy A. Her due dates are more than fair and her exams have concrete Exam Reviews.
Great caring professor. She is so sweet and she sets you up for success. Gives a lot of extra credit. If you miss class for a legitimate reason she awards you the points. loved her video lectures also. Exams cover what is in the videos and book.
Ended the class one point away from an A but wouldn't bump it up. You are able to skip one of the tests and make it up the week before finals which was a blessing. Gives a good amount of extra credit. Also took this class as a reduced seat time class.. there's no way around that, it sucks but Massiah makes it tolerable w her online lecture videos.
Dr. Massiah is the best professor I've ever had. She brings so much energy to her lecture and is so passionate about marketing. Shes extremely interesting to listen to and I always enjoy her lectures. Tests are half multiple choice and half written responses. The marketing sim you do in class is really cool and an easy grade.
Dr. Massiah is such an amazing professor and human. She has a passion for teaching and will go out of her way for her students. She provides study guides which are exactly like the exam. She gives at least 2 extra credit opportunities in the semester. Her lectures are funny and entertaining. Important to watch the lectures online prior to exam.
She was absolutely amazing. Her tests were fair and I loved the lectures. I had no interest in marketing beforehand but that changed after taking her class. I hope to take more of her classes in the future.
Professor Massiah and her TAs are A M A Z I N G!! She gives multiple extra credit opportunities. The work is very simple and the exams are cake (if you follow the study guide). Its literally impossible to fail this class.
Dr. Massiah is the best professor I have ever had in my life OMG she's the best person!!!! I wish all of my professors were like her.
She was a great and caring professor who offered a lot of extra credit. I would definitely take her again. Marketing sim was easy once you figured it out. Enjoyable class & that is rare to say for me at this school
By far the best professor at UCF. Walked away from the class with a 98%, it's not that difficult. She is super friendly, this semester she gave 55 points of extra credit and the class is out of 1000. Put effort into the packback, if your number 1 she usually does something special for them. Not a bad word to say about her.
Amazing professor with amazing lectures. She confirmed my interest in Marketing and I officially switched my major after taking her class. The class itself is not hard. Do as she says- read the textbook, watch the lectures. She gave a lot of extra credit which was very nice!!
What a gem! She is the best non-major professor I have taken at UCF. The only one that made me think "should I switch my major to this?" The tests are super do-able, the simulations fun, her lectures interesting and enjoyable, and overall if you put in the effort, you'll get an A, easy. Seriously great course, recommend taking it honors if you can.
This class is easy but it is a lot of work to get an A, ( 93%). Two quizzes and a pack back due every week and 5 mandatory tests. The material is pretty easy and her lectures are funny and quick.
This class requires a 93% for an A, which I find to be a bit much, and she won't bump it up no matter how close you are. On the bright side, all the coursework and class sessions are relevant, well-structured, and it's apparent Dr. Massiah cares about both teaching and her students. One of the better professors at UCF without a doubt.
I'm currently taking this class, but let me say she is my favorite professor so far! Tests are pretty easy, the study tool REALLY helps. The two things I don't like is the format of the REAL classes which isn't something she can control, and how an A in the class is a 94 (even though it's doable). You get tons of extra credit opportunities too!
Dr. Massiah is my favorite professor at UCF so far. While the REAL courses are quite awful (out of her control), she makes the best of it. The in-class and online lectures are very helpful when understanding material. Tests are very conceptual which I had to learn quickly, and is VERY generous when it comes to extra credit. Great teacher and class.
Professor is by far the most engaged teacher you will have in your college career. Lectures are pretty straight forward. Work through the modules and the materials given to you thoroughly and you will have a great understanding of all that comes out of this amazing class. keep up with the discussions, lectures, and quizzes and it will pay off. BYOB
Dr. Massiah is the best professor at UCF. I have never had a prof more caring and engaged with the class, and I took her with the real format. There are five exams that are very similar to the study guide and she offered a lot of ec. There is a lot hw. She is always available to help her students with any problem and is an overall great person.
Dr. Massiah is a very good professor and very passionate at what she does. As long, as you do your work in the class, you should pass with no problem at all. I do have to warn you however of a skewed grading scale. If you're one to shoot for only A's then I HIGHLY HIGHLY suggest you take every extra credit opportunity. I cannot stress that enough.
Best professor here at UCF. Actually cares about her students and want them to do well. Tons of homework every week and her lectures are very easy, just show up and do the sims. For exams just read the textbook, questions are tricky so take it slow. Extra credits really make up the needed 94% for the A but it is very possible to do.
Very cool professor, and very easy class. Read, do the homework, and study for an hour before taking the exam and you're gonna get an A. She's very approachable and will give you good career advice.
Dr Massiah is one of the reasons why I am so confident in wanting to pursue a marketing degree. The course is straightforward. She gives you the tools you need to get an A, and a substantial amount of extra credit. If you're not a marketing major I think you may find the class tedious, but I think everyone can learn something from her regardless.
You will love that she wants you to build your million dollar brand, accessible outside of class. Respected around UCF so everyone goes to those office hours. The simulation preps you for the marketing lifesyle
Dr. Massiah cares about marketing/makes the class interesting. If you see previous ratings an A used to be a 93. It was raised it to a 94, "because too many students were getting A's", I'm ending this class with a 93 and that is a B, 3.25 gpa points. There is a TON of work each week and expect to memorize that textbook if you want an A.
I loved this professor, she is the sweetest and one of the most helpful professors I have had. She is super involved with her students and genuinely cares for their success. Good studying and paying attention in class will get you where you need to be. Highly recommend this instructor in and out of the classroom.
I can't say enough good things about Dr. Massiah. She puts other professors at UCF to shame. You'll definitely have to do your part in the course, but it's upfront and she gives you a weekly checklist to keep you on track. 10/10 would recommend her to anyone and everyone.
Massiah is a gift to UCF. Shes approachable and knowledgeable. Her grading scale is a bit wack but theres lot of extra credit opportunities. Follow her study guides to a T and you should be fine. I was able to skip the final simulation which was 30 points due to already having enough points for an A. She really is one of the best. BYOB yall!
Dr. Massiah was my favorite professor in my three years of college so far. She is very kind and straight forward. Quizzes for Wall Street are super simple, and homework mirrors the pre-recorded videos she inputs and the powerpoints. VERY hard to fail her class, would HIGHLY recommend her.
Professor Massiah is one of the best!
Dr. Massiah is one of the best professors I have ever met. She always shares opportunities with her students. She wants us to succeed not only in her class, but in our future. I learn more than the knowledge in textbook from her.
Dr. Massiah is an amazing lecturer, I took this class online but I really wish I had it in person because I would've enjoyed not having the disconnect. This class is extremely intresting, a little assignment heavy, but it's really not that much work and none of it is too difficult. You can tell she really cares about her students.
MAR3023 is for sure one of the easier primary core classes in COBA. You can tell Dr. Massiah truly cares about her students and she practices what she preaches. It is rushed in Summer B, so be prepared for a big workload if you have other things on the go. Includes chapter quizzes, WSJ quizzes, mini-simulations, discussion posts, and exam weekly.
Ridiculous amounts of homework!
Because of the pandemic the classes are optional so everythings online. Tests are pretty straight forward, they reflect the homework and quizzes. Very homework heavy, packback discussions are due every 3 days + mini simulations, Wall Street journal quizzes, & chapter homeworks. Shes really sweet & gives plenty of zoom time to answer questions.
This class would be one of the easiest COBA classes if it wasn't for the constant busy work HW twice a week. It's not difficult, just annoying how much HW there is. It's structured so if you study you will succeed, and Dr. Massiah will be sure to help with anything, she is a great professor.
Crazy amounts of homework. Busy work due every 3 days that has some to no relevance to course work, but is weighted as 13% of total grade. Group work is actually interesting but has almost no grade weight. One exam every 2 weeks for a total of 5, most of any class I'm taking. Easy class if you like nonstop work from day 1 to last day.
I have read the reviews before I took her class, but it didnt run as I expected . It was A LOT OF HOMEWORK sometimes overloaded that due every week ( 3 assignment per week at least). There are 5 exams and a lot of exam questions were not covered in her lecture. You need to get 95% of the grade (950/1000) for an A. Never gives any second chance.
The best professor you will ever have! The class is a decent amount of work, but it is 100% doable. She truly cares about each and every student and is the type of professor that changes your life because of how caring she is. I highly recommend taking any course that she teaches!
Dr. Massiah is a great professor who actually cares about her students. Her lectures are entertaining and informative. I wouldn't consider this class an easy A. You have to work for your grade. There are a lot of homework assignments (they aren't hard just a few due every week). Overall this class is very useful and Dr. Massiah is great prof
The reason I gave such a bad rating is because of the horrible grading scale. I received a 90% in this class yet I will be getting a 3.25 towards my GPA which I see as completely unfair. to receive an A you need a 95% which is actually the dumbest thing I have ever heard in my life, 90-95 is a B+, 85-90 is a B, 80-85 is a C+?!?!? Literally horrible
This professor is great! The best I have had at COBA so far. There may be many assignments and simulations, but you really gain a throughout understanding of marketing and business in general really. The grading criteria is very clear, and you do have to put in quite a bit of work, but as long as you don't miss anything you'd be fine.
If you get a chance to take her, take her. I was in her Into to marketing class. It had a rough criteria, you have to get a 95% and up to get an A. Initially I wanted to switch out because of it but the class is not bad at all. Id you can take good notes you will probably get an A. Not just that shes really nice and cares a lotabout her students.
Honestly the best professor at UCF. I would take her class a million times more.
She is an awful teacher. Not because of the lack of clarity or inconsistency. She is incredible when it comes to those regards. She explains the material well and lets students ask questions. HOWEVER, her grading scale is totally unfair! To pass the class with an A, you need a 95% or higher rather than 90%. I found this ridiculous and unnecessary!!
So many pointless assignments. All were extremely easy but her grading scale is super messed up 95+ for an A. Such a waste of time, but she is the only professor for course. Online class also optional to attend, she just joked the whole time.
Great lady tries her best to help you out. Overall pretty easy class I think the easiest class i've taken at ucf and shes the best teacher so it made it better. The discussions are annoying only because their due every few days and the due dates can some times jump around however you should def take her for mar.
Best professor at UCF!! I love her, she cares so much for her students! I highly recommend her she's the best!!!
Best professor ever. She truly cares about her students. If you ever have a question you can reach out to her. Her assignments were easy and interesting. As long as you complete the homework assignments you should be good grade wise.
This is a professor who genuinely cares for her students. The course involves a lot of reading and memorizing, but you just need to understand concepts (it starts to become common sense). The real difficulty is that you cannot use notes on the exams. SIMS are fun. Watch her Zoom Meetings.
Dr. Massiah knows what she is doing! Reading each assigned chapter would certainly help. On top of the Connect access, you also need to subscribe to WSJ for quizzes, as well as Packpack for discussion assignments. The tests are nothing like the test reviews, but are still manageable. Attend to the Zoom lectures because they are helpful.
Very clear grading criteria, cares a whole lot about her students. Easy A, you should be able to get full points on every assignment, just watch out for the chapter quizzes and 5 exams, which require lots of reading. 95 is an A, easily doable. I got a B + mainly because of tests. Gave 25 points extra credit. Always available even after the semester
The worst professor or boss Ive ever had. Extreme micro-manager. Such an overload of the quantity of assignments (although not difficult) that you can tell she thinks her course is so much more important than it is. Also evident by the grading scale 95+ for an A. Self-important, micromanager. Couldnt ask for a worse combo in a teacher or person.
Professor Massiah is a great professor when it comes to caring about her students but thats about it. We had 6 in-person classes all semester which were arguably a waste of time. You have an exam every 2 weeks for a total of 5. Laslty, her recorded lectures are garbage as she gets side tracked every 5 minutes and the powerpoints are vague.
She started off first day of class saying how easy it was. Exam 3 everyone got a 15 point curve. Its not a hard class but the exams are tricky. None of the study guides she has available are worth the trouble as nothing will be on the exam or anything similar. Also nothing will help your grade. The WSJ quizzes are 10 questions worth only 5 points.
Tests come from space. You study the guide as she says and feel like you are getting an A in the test, then get less than 60%. The average on most tests is 65% on average. The in class "lectures" are a waste of time and pointless. She is a very nice teacher but that is it.
Shes a great person and loved her personality, but the exams have nothing do to with the study guide nor the information given. You have to watch online lectures to find the information you need for the exam. Homework was easy and did great on all of them. Exams will drop your grade significantly and very hard to study for.
Very good professor who clearly is passionate about what she teaches. Her honors class has mandatory attendance as well as short answer questions on exams. She gives you the prompts in email beforehand though. She gives good extra credit at the end of the semester also. If you go to class and do the homework you will pass without issue.
One of the best professors I've had at UCF so far.
You have to be sure to Keep up with all your assignments because its a lot. She is very available and clearly cares about her students. Not an easy A but also not impossible to achieve if you put the work in. You also get a lot out of the class and learn more than I have any other class. Great overall
Professor Massiah is ok. Her grading scale is really weird so it can throw you off if you don't perform well on tests. She gives a lot of homework and you only go 5 times a semester in person to do marketing simulations. To do the tests, you have to read the textbook, watch the videos, do study guides. Her class is a lot of work, wouldn't recommend
Dr. Massiah was genuinely one of my favorite professors that I have ever had throughout my academic career. Her grading scale was a little annoying just because you had to get a 95+ to pass with an A but it really was not hard to get that A. The marketing simulations that we did in class were also very fun and really made me excited to learn.
Good teacher with decent lectures. Very clear criteria for grading and gives study guides for exams. Lots of annoying assignments like discussions and quizzes. Only reason a point was taken off is because the cutoff for an A is 95 but make sure to take advantage of the 2 extra credit opportunities.
One of the best professors I've had. The grading scale is horrid but there's so much extra credit that getting an A is not as bad as it seems. Her lecture videos are fun to watch and the exams are mostly common sense. She has a great personality and explains topics very well.
Great teacher but you need a 95% to get an A in her class, kind of ridiculous.
Grading scale is a little rough but with extra credit its doable. Material isnt to hard and if you use the study guide for exams its relatively easy.
I wish there were more teachers teaching MAR3023 at UCF. You need to average a 94 on all exams with 100's on everything else. It's like she expects kids to be perfect when she is really only setting students up for failure.
Super fun class and pretty interesting. I'm pretty sure she's the only MAR3023 professor right now. Only bad thing is that an A is a 95+ for her which is honestly harder to achieve than you would think.
Bad grading scale, lots of busy work that is useless to the class, often at times assigns 2 chapters to read each week along with pointless busy work that does little to reinforce the content besides take up your time
I love Dr. Massiah as a person. Shes funny and shes lighthearted and always seems to be in a good mood despite everything going on in the world. As the other comments state, the grading scale is stupid and almost impossible to achieve and an unnecessary amount of busy work. Her homework isnt difficult by any means, its just a bunch of busy work
Although I never properly met Dr. Messiah, I can still confidently say she is one of the best teachers at UCF. She clearly cares about your success. Class was enjoyable.
Over 71 assignments by the end. If you learn through understanding concepts instead of completing an absolutely mind numbing mountain of work, this is not the class for you. Unfortunately, Carolyn is the only one who teaches this class so you are left with no option. Not a single in person lecture was given regardless of this class being in person.
Dr. Massiah is an excellent teacher and is always more than happy to share her knowledge and experience with marketing. I would highly suggest asking her questions pertaining to your future as she has more than plenty to offer for advice, she really wants her students to do their best in the future. Study hard and do ALL your homework!
I love Dr. Massiah. Don't get me wrong her 95% is an A grading scale was annoying the whole semester and unnecessary in my opinion. However, she does give several extra credit opportunities and her work is very easy (a lot of busy work). If you complete her exam study guide and exam study tools for each chapter you'll pass the class with a breeze.
Dr. Massiah is a great professor. The grading scale is annoying, but I forgot to do 2 assignments and got 0's for both of them, and still managed to keep my A because of the extra credit. Most students don't read the textbook but I found that the textbook helps for the exams. Material is fairly interesting too, coming from a finance major.
One of my favorite professors at UCF. She cares about her students, is very easy to talk to, and knows what she's talking about. Tests are weighted heavy, so prepare well for them. The simulation was cake. Attendance was required.
Took sum B and while its quite the loadto fit into 6 weeks its doable.offers 2 extra credit worth 10 points each.Hard to get an A because she grades by points, and you need i think 940/1000 points to get an A.DONT let the little points slip by bc you will need them if you want that A.Aside from the unrealistic dumb grading scale she wants you to win
Dr Massiah is a great professor, you can tell she enjoys her job. Class was not difficult, she's understanding and willing to help. With that being said, the grading scale for the class sucks!! I finished not the class with a 93% but that only got me a B+ because you need a 95% to get an A in the class.
Great Professor. As long as you do the study tools and homework assignments you should be fine on tests. Don't forget to take advantage of the extra credit she offers. Only downside is you need a 95% to get an "A" in her class.
This class is easy to pass, since the study guide is exactly what is on the test. She also gives 20 extra credit points throughout the semester. The professor was VERY kind and actually cares about teaching unlike some professors in COBA....The only complaints I have is I felt like there was a lot of busy work and you need 940 plus points for an A.
Dr. Massiah is the absolute best professor i've had throughout my college career. She is compassionate, and sets her students up for success in not only her class, but their career paths as well. The class itself is very easy to get an A in if you follow syllabus dates, and study thoroughly for her exams. Overall i anticipate an A in this course.
Dr. Massiah is a gem in the BSBA pre-classes. She is always encouraging her students to take care of themselves and takes time out of her day to celebrate success. I haven't had to reach out to her outside of class but I would imagine it's easy. Marketing itself is a good amount of work, but really easy to pass with an A or B if you put effort in.
Dr. Massiah while being friendly one-on-one treats the general class like high schoolers during lectures. She almost talks down to the class and talks like she's living in a ted talk. The are a lot of exams in this course and there were more assignments each week than in my other classes combined. There is a group project at the end.
Gave a lot of extra credit opps, reminders, extensions. That group project really sucks though, and her grading scale means you have to put in effort till the end for the A
Easy A if you put in the effort. Lots of extra credit. Never read book, only relied on her videos which were super informative. All test questions were explained and some even given in advance in her videos, watch and take really good notes and you can get an A on every test. She is nice and actually cares about her students.
Professor Massiah was a very good professor in her subject. I feel like I genuinely learned some things within her class that will stick with me. Only complaint is that she is monotone. Exams are easy to study for, and homework assignments are very easy as well. She does have one group project at the end of the semester, which was also very easy.
Prof. Massiah was a great professor. She genuinely cares about all of her students. She prepares all majors for a basis of marketing knowing now everyone is pursuing it. She keeps the topic interesting and exciting. Highly recommend.
The class material is actually pretty easy. Most people end up with low 90s which should be an A but for whatever reason she decides to make an A 94 and above. There is literally no good reason for this and it just screws the students over. Of course she could care less though
This class can be summed up with one word. Unnecessary. She has far more assignments than any other college class I have ever taken and it is mostly just busy work. Unnecessary. She also has a ridiculous grading scale. The only way to get an A is to get a 94+%. Unnecessary. The Dean of the college needs to do something about professors like this.
Loved taking this class. Marketing at UCF has its own tough grading scale, but this class is easy to pass. I remember I did badly on the final, but if you do all the other assignments in class you'll survive with an ok grade. This professor is mandatory for the first marketing class anyway so you have no choice, but she is great! Don't be scared.
To give you an idea about the grading scale; if you got 100% of every single assignment in the class and you got an average on 84% across all exams that would result in a grade of 93.6%, which is a B+ on her scale. Get ready to give a lot of effort for a letter grade worse than what you actually earned if you take this class.
Massiah is a really good professor. While the grading scale may seem unfair, as long as you put in the work, an A is very doable! Decent workload, but it's all manageable and easy. The final is non-cumalitive. Final group project, is also easy. Highly recommended!
Dr. Massiah truly has a passion for teaching & cares about her students. While there are ~70 assignments, and as others have mentioned, you need a 94% to get an A it is extremely doable. I only watched the lecture videos and never used the book. Do every assignment because every point counts. 20 points / 2% extra credit offered. Great class!
Professor Massiah is one of the best professors at UCF! She genuinely cares for her students and wants everyone to succeed. The homework is simple and it is easy to study for the exams. She makes the material interesting and exciting and offers extra credit to her students. Overall the class was super fun and enjoyable!
This class had wayyy to many assignments, and 5 exams. Also the grading scale is strange, so you will probably end up with a grade less lower than you actually deserve. Hated going to class because she would take up half the time talking and would make us shut our laptops off so we can listen to whatever the heck she was saying. No one cares.
So much busy work and grading scale is horrible. Ended the semester with a 93.88% needed a 94% for the A. Since she is the only teacher, you have no choice but to take this course with her.
I highly recommend watching her videos while filling out the study guide in order to prepare for her tests. Other than that, it was a straightforward course. Massiah is very caring about her students and is respected in the CBA.
She's very rude in her emails....
The professor seems nice, only when there's people around her.... Her lectures were also way too long, wouldn't recommend her at all
Prof. Massiah is a genuine and passionate professor. She keeps students informed about the College of Business because she wants them to have better opportunities to be involved. Lecture videos are useful and the content is entertaining. An A is 94% or higher, but it's doable if you watch the videos, fill out the study guide, & do the assignments.
Group assignments were expected to be done in a few days and if you're missing a member, you have to wait two days to "give them a chance". In class is a 10 min sim and a write-up for an entire hour (she dismisses you). Hw and content are easy but the professor is unbearable.94% is an A, and 93.99% is a B+. Advice: don't take if you don't have to.
Waaaay too many assignments, most of which are just useless busywork. Labs take less than 15 mins to complete but students are forced to stay till she dismisses you. An A is a 94% which make no sense. Lectures are slow and long. The content itself is easy but the prof makes it annoyingly difficult to get the grade you deserve.
Rambles on and on in lectures about things not even related to the class. So much busywork especially for a summer class. To get an A you have to get a 94%, which is insane. I got a higher grade for classes much harder than this. As others have said, she's only nice when other people are around her. Her emails are so hostile.
She's super kind, but the amount of busywork is insane. I'd say 50% of the course is work that doesn't pertain to the class. She couldn't provide a reasoning as to why a 94 or higher is an A, she just said "that's how I have it". Her class is easy but for Summer, I wish the busywork was removed to allow more time to study on the weekly exams.
Looking back, I honestly miss this class. Massiah is a wonderful professor. While the workload may seem a lot, all of it is relatively easy. Massiah truly cares for her students and wants them to succeed. 5 exams, final is non-cumulative. I didn't do too great on 2 of the exams and still managed to pull a B overall. Best professor in COBA.
She is a good teacher, but assigns and absolutely UNECESSARY amount of busy work %60+ Busy work. With questions like, finish the quote from JayZ or who is the CEO of ______. Also the grading scale is ridiculous with you needing an 94 to get an A in the class. Dont take her unless u dont mind a lot of work and time dedicated to the class.
Massiah truly cares for her students. Her grade scale is a little weird (A= 94% or higher) but getting that A is very attainable just do the extra credit surveys and study using the exam tool and study guide. All the assignments are easy A's but the exams are pretty long compared other classes. You must watch all the lectures to do well.
I loved this class and Dr. Massiah. She's so passionate about marketing and her lectures are very thorough. Her grading scale is annoying but just study for the exams (use the study guide) and do all assignments and you'll be fine. Loved the simulations and WSJ articles, easy 100s to keep an A. Love her, wish she taught other undergrad classes
Class can be tough if you don't read syllabus FULLY in the beginning. She provides resources to be successful in this class. Read module instructions & follow them. Watch lecture videos -she explains key concepts that are exam questions - she also explains the ideas behind concepts. Class is really only as hard as you make it, points matter ALOT
I loved taking this class so much omg she's super passionate about marketing and it definitely shows. Fav activities from the class were the marketing simulations and getting to read the WSJ articles. Least fav things were the weird grading scale but its fine if u study for the exams. ! she also provides an excel sheet to calculate ur real grade !
Dr. Massiah is easily one of the best CBA professors!! She is passionate about what she teaches & genuinely cares about her students. Grading scale is A 94-100 but is doable if you do all assignments and study for the 5 exams. There are a lot of assignments but they are not too time consuming. She also offers extra credit opportunities
Loved her just not her grading scale. You need a 94 get an A. Anything less is a B. Other than thought, I loved watching her lectures they were very interesting and she really cares about students and doing well in the class. group project at the end was easy but annoying. Tests are just like her lectures and study guide.
I honestly don't understand how this professor has so many good reviews. As a student who's not even a marketing major, this class was EXCESSIVE. This class literally took up the majority of my course load this semester. There's tests every other week, group projects (outside of class), lots of homework, and an absolute horrible grading scale.
HORRIBLE CLASS. After looking at her reviews from a few years ago, I am convinced she switched her grading scale and course load because she got butt hurt from everyone saying it was an easy A class. If you want to pass with an A, be prepared to get a 94 or higher. There's 5 exams and no assignments are dropped.
Boring class that tries to make an exam hard with stuff that would be normally common sense. There are lots of tests, no extra credit, no assignments dropped, and it's test heavy.
Dr. Massiah has some of the best lecture videos, but like other classes, I still recommend reading the textbook due to the homework containing questions based on the reading. A 94 is required for an "A", but there is 2% of extra credit available. Comparable class to MAN3025, but more interesting and has a bit more homework. Taken fall 23
Massiah is a horrible professor who does not care at all about students' success in this course. Hardly any extra credit, so many exams and homework, no grades dropped, and HORRIBLE grading scale which should not even be permitted by the College of Business. Would not recommend this professor at all.
I don't understand this professor's reviews. She does NOT care about your grades and isn't that great of a teacher. She tries to make the content of the exams hard with stuff that's normally common sense. Group projects are annoying, especially when they're outside of class. Super lecture heavy for a class that's just a pre-req for business majors.
This course consumed my semester with exams when I'm not even a Marketing major...that tells you something already. Don't reach out for extra credit, because she'll just tell you you're an unethical business professional. Doesn't care about your success in the course and barely any extra credit. No grades are dropped.
Bad teacher, would not recommend. Test heavy as well. We need new marketing professors for this class.
Finished with an A, but her grading scale is still horrible. A 94 or higher is required to get an A. Who would even make this type of grading scale? She clearly doesn't care about her students. Too many exams and homework. She doesn't realize this class is a pre-req clearly with the excessive work load and expectations.
Get ready to have your days consumed with long videos and a professor who lacks empathy.
Take an alternate Professor for this course if possible. She grades tough and her grading scale is unjust. Too many boring videos where she veers off the topic on many occasions.
Unreasonable grading scale to say the least. How is a 93% a B? some of my classmates earned a C, but with her grading scale it's a D. Thats egregious Additionally, email responses are condescending in my opinion. I'm not sure if it's her or her TAs, but a simple inquiry should not warrant rhetorical questions laced with sarcasm as a response.
Straightforward class. Massiah assigns a couple assignments each week, and the in class activities are easy. Study the study guide and learnsmart for each exam. Group project at the end is frustrating, but earn as many points as possible prior to it and it will not have you as anxious.
good teacher.
Dr.Massiah is one of the better professors that I have had. Her content is straight forward so you know what she expects of you. Everything that is on the exams can either be found in webcourses or the textbook. Overall, an easy class if you do the work.
These postivie ratings must be her TA's or her trying to "market" herself better. I have nothing against her as most of the class is studying and assignments outside of class but the req. of >940/1000 (A) is so stupid and harmful for your GPA, take this class knowing everything needs to be perfect or its automatically a B. Strategize your courses!
Definitely not a bad experience, especially for a 7 am class. The professor respects your time and allows plenty of time to complete the relatively interesting in class assignments. For sure watch her lecture videos and stay on top of due dates and you'll be good. Weird grade scale but hard to fall short of a B
When signing up for this class be aware that the scale is not 100-90 for an A the grading scale is instead 100-94 for an A, 93-84 for a B and so on. Classes and videos are a horrendous waste of time, practically no learning done just listening to obtuse points repeated 10 different ways.
Definitely not the worse class in the college of business. However the grading scale is ridiculous. Having to get 94 to get A. Even if you got a 74 that would be considered a D in this class. I would take this professor again. Some videos are long and unnecessary but you have to watch to pass exams because of the this she will ask on the test
Dr. Massiah is a really good professor and she taught this class well. It is challenging to get an A but if you study for the exams and complete all the assignments you will be fine. The most annoying thing is that an A- in this class translates to a 3.75 GPA input. To get a 4.0 you need an A+ D:
She gives a group project and penalized the groups who didn't have all their members in attendance. unbelievably unfair. this class is an easy B but an impossible A. The professor talks to her class like they are kindergarteners and is very condescending. I walked up to her to ask a question and she looked shocked i approached her, like im a child
Class was straightforward. Allocate your time appropriately and this class will be your easiest of the semester. The ability to work ahead is always a huge plus. Do the extra credit!! Also, be willing to spend time doing all the study tools before tests. It may be time consuming, but it allowed me to get above a 70 on every test.
amazing professor. her lecture videos are very helpful for exams and are not super time consuming. all class assignments and homeworks are extremely easy. theres one group project that is graded kind of harshly but its not worth a lot of points. she's always so nice and quick to respond to messages. would love to have her as a professor again.
Her class is unbelievably easy. Her grade scale for an A is 94%, B+ 89-93%. Seems strict but she does it b/c she makes it easy to achieve. Her study guides follow closely w her lectures, write notes using it. To prepare for tests, use mcgrawhill's study tool. Only complaint is she gave an exam week after spring break with 3 chapters of new content.
Her class was meh at best. I don't understand all the praise. She talks very slowly in her videos (although, they are helpful for exams) and they are pretty boring. Her meetings were very useless, she just had you do a simulation that was designed for middle schoolers 10 years ago, and honestly, I did not enjoy her class at all, but it is very easy
Watch all review videos in 2x speed. Tests are straightforward and take stuff right from the book. Class activities are super easy and just free points. Would recommend taking over a summer semester because 16 weeks is way more than enough time needed for this class.
Professor Massiah's class is straightforward and manageable. The lectures are helpful for exams, though a bit slow-paced. Using unstuckstudy ai alongside the textbook and study tools was key to acing the tests. The workload is reasonable, just stay on top of deadlines.
Her grading scale is atrocious. Exams are nothing like the practice study tools.
Great professor, bad grading scale. She knows how to articulate her videos to make students pay attention, and make them interesting. Exams are just like the videos and practice. However, I believe she should change her grading scale. A 91 should not be a B. She is helpful and wants us to succeed.
ALL-course. Out of 1000 points, a 920 and up is considered an A, and 820-919.99 is considered a B. So if you get a 800 [which is an 80%], you will have a C+ in the class. She is kind of like a middle school teacher, attitude-wise. Class is super easy but if you don't put in the minimum amount of work you will fail. Just study and go to class
Took her for MAR 3023. She is a good professor and you can tell she cares about her students. Class is well organized too i'd say.
This class is not very difficult you will have mostly group projects as long as you do them you will have a good grade however make sure you read the book when it comes to the test I felt like the lectures where lacking on that part.
You don't really learn much in this course. Mostly just talks about herself and other programs at the University. Not a difficult class though.
Dr. Massiah is my favorite professor at UCF so far. Her lecture videos are fun and she is a caring person that is passionate about her job. Her lecture videos are comprehensive and essential. Some exam content will be exclusive to the videos. The textbook is a good source to supplement the videos, but I did not use it often in this course.
She is such a nice person that wants to see you succeed in her class. She gives extra credit and the material on the exams comes directly from her videos and the textbooks. If you do the work you will be just fine. Class work is also very easy!
Do all of the homework and you'll be fine. I took her class during summer (6 weeks) and I finished with an A. Watch her lecture videos and take notes, she gives strong hints at what will be on the test in her videos. It's a lot of homework but it is not super time consuming.
Make sure to take every assignment seriously, you need a 92% to get an A in the class. There are 5 exams and they are worth 50% of your grade. If you take notes on the textbook and watch the videos, you will do just fine in the class. Only annoying things are the wall street journal quizzes and packback assignments as they are not very necessary.
Hands down the best professor I have ever had. Her lectures are incredibly engaging; it's clear that she is passionate about her career and the success of her students. If you take notes during the lectures and study before the exams, the grades will come naturally. The course has plenty of grade padding, but make sure you put in the work.
Best professor so far on UCF, makes class fun.
Her class is simple and straight to the point. Points based instead of weighted averages so your canvas grade wont accurately reflect however she gives you an excel sheet to calculate it on. Exam questions are straight to the point. All I did was make quizlets for each exam following the study guide and did the study tool in Mcgraw hill.
assignments were pretty easy, but make sure to READ the directions carefully bc she enjoys taking points off. exams were okay bc some of the questions are phrased in a confusing way (TA admitted this) but WATCH HER VIDEOS (2x speed) she will outright list answers that are needed on the exam (like the ranking of some brands). also gives extra credit
I am a finance major and do not do well with conceptual questions, but was able to pull off a 96 in her class. Take advantage of the extra credit and watch all of her videos and take notes on them. The study tool also helped! Final project at the end is kind of annoying, just stay on top of your group!
Absolute Yapfest in the videos (why are you teaching us what a "coupon" and "discount" is). Study guide provided doesn't cover everything on test. For some reason she makes a 92% an A. Other than that, relatively easy class.
DO NOT skip her videos, she uses her examples on the exam. Read the textbook to get a better understanding of the topics. Her study guides weren't very helpful to me, I just studied her videos. Make a groupchat with your table group to communicate about the in-class assignment and the final simulation. Her extra credit opportunities are super easy.
I really didn't understand the hype for this teacher. Her videos are so long (2x speed), very lecture/notes heavy, and then there are the time-consuming assignments like PackBack and the Wsj quizzes that are worth less points than they're worth. I honestly tried so hard in this class and didn't even get a good grade. An A is 93%, like what??
She does yap in her lectures, but other than that she's great. Very caring and helpful and she does actually try to make sure you understand the content. Her grading is pretty weird but she makes it very clear from the beginning, so you know what you have to do to get a good grade. Really just pay attention to her guides and you'll be fine. 10/10
There are a lot of assignments but they are spaced out with plenty of time given for them. The in-class assignments are easy as long as your group communicates well. Exams are easy if you take a handful of hours to study and WATCH HER LECTURE VIDEO. There are specific questions only answered in the videos but she points them out in the videos.
Her grading scale is harsh and demoralizing. A 94 is an A, but a 93 is a B? That one-point gap unfairly punishes students who work hard. It's frustrating and discouraging, especially in a class that's already excessive in assignments. Not every professor values their students and that's clear to see in this class.
for tests, rewatch lecture videos and do study tools and maybe flashcards if you feel like it. they were application based with vocab/basic concepts, straightforward. lots of easy points in this class. for quizzes, only one attempt but take notes on lectures and skim textbook to fill in gaps. lectures are CONSUMING but needed, so put on 2x.
Get ready to read. She gives out so much homework. Her grade scale is absurd. 5 total exams. Also, her videos are extremely long. Make sure to read the book. In her videos, she will provide answers to 2-3 questions; everything else is covered in the book, so be sure to read it.
Professor Massiah teaches the material well, her lectures and videos prepare you for the exams, definitely watch the videos!! The group assignments were easy, but kind of pointless. The only thing that sucks is her grading scale, I missed getting an A by 3 points, when in any other class it would have been considered an A.
She is one of the best profs at UCF. Her assignments are not difficult in the slightest. There are weekly quizzes about the info in the textbooks and her lectures, but they are all done online. She provides study guides for every exam and actually follows them. You have to TRY to fail
Easy class and the professor is very kind. Grading system is messed up, A is 94-100. 93 is B+ for some reason.
This class was fairly easy. She is very clear about the assignments that are due each week. It typically consist of WSJ quizzes and content quizzes. In person classes are based on this "marketing game" that is fairly easy. Her grading scale is harsh though, I had a 92% which was considered a B+. Most of the exam comes from her lecture videos.
Overall, great professor and class. Her lecture vids are very lengthy and she talks A LOT but put them in 2x speed and WATCH THEM. She tells you things that will be on the exams, and she will make sure you know it'll be on the exam. Homework is easy but annoying to do. The grading scale is different (94 for an A) which made it more difficult.
Genuinely a great professor, there are a few weekly assignments but they're fairly easy to do. There are a few exams but she goes over everything in the lecture videos, just watch them sped up and take good notes. The classes consist of simulation based games that go over the material and they're also pretty easy to do.
She takes the time to create videos to help you meaningfully understand Principles of Marketing.
She's amazing! Just a tough grader / tough grading scale. Gives you everything you need in order to succeed. Reminded me of a high school class.
She's amazing. She gives you lots of life lessons.
She just does not stop talking. but good professor
The grading scale is very discouraging. There is no reason why a prerequisite business course should have a scale where a 93.99 is a B+. Making it so that a grade that is usually an A, (MAYBE an A-) is actually a B+ is outrageous and damaging to people's gpa undeservingly. Other than that the class was fine and pretty straightforward.
She is a great professor. She does talk a bit slow for my liking but nothing 2x speed wont fix. Her grading scale is unfair. Why is my 93 a B... As for the 5, count em, 5 exams, make sure to watch lectures and do the dynamic study.
She is so caring and her lectures are amazing. They will help so much for the exam (she will tell u what will be on it). the connect study tool is also helpful. She gives you everything you need to do great but YOU have to put in effort for the exams, but it is worth it. there's 2, 10pt EC chances. She is always there to help you!!
There's 5 exams but good bc if you mess up on one u have a good chance to average it out. It is very doable to get an A in this class u just have to put in the effort to do it because the scale is a 94. There are 2 extra credits and she gives u everything that u will need to do well. watch the lectures it will help so much
She is such a nice lady and cares about her students. Make sure you study for the exams because a B is a 84. She gives you everything to succeed. This class is way easier/ more interesting then management.
Dr. Massiah was a very ok professor. She has her OWN grading scale where a 94 is an A — and she'll proudly remind you that she refuses to round anything ever, even if you're one microscopic decimal away. No mercy, no wiggle room.
Dr. Massiah is a good person who I like as a human being. MAR3023 is objectively an easy class, BUT due to her bizarre grading scale + the purely conceptual nature of the material it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get an A; I finished with a 93.92 yet I have a B on my transcript. Nice lady who does care about her students, but class is oddly challenging.
She is a nice person and gives you several extra credit opportunities. Take them. Lots of busy work homework and long readings, but really not hard to do well. It is stressful that there are 5 exams, group work every class, and an A is a 94% but if you put in effort you can do it.
Hands down best professor at UCF! Get ready to read but everything is very interesting to learn. 20 points of Extra credit available. I got 30 points this semester. Make sure to watch the lecture videos as answers to the exam will be in there. Truly cares about the class. Sometimes we get to shares about our weeks with the class.
Dr. Massiah was a great professor and her course was very easy to understand. There were extra credit opportunites and lots of free points. She was a very cool professor.
