very nice and smart woman
She's so much fun and a wonderful teacher!

One of the few teachers I know who actually wants an answer to the question, "how are you doing?" Her informal aproach to class allows everyone to express their opinions. She had several pet peeves on grading, which makes her a hard teacher
Great lady! I learned so much from her. She is approachable, yet she still presents a challenge.
Great teacher! Learned so much from her class. I am a much better writer today because of her class. A+++
Best prof. I had EVER!
She is so personal and caring!
Carolyn is the greatest teacher at LU. She is like a second mom when your away from home. Even after a few years she is still interested in your life. And if you ever want to catch her off gaurd just ask her if she touched your butt.
Amazing woman and great teacher. The last entry... disregard. I highly recommend Towles to anyone willing to learn.
Little disturbed by the hot eyes mention. Towely is the coolest and you'll learn a heck of a lot in her class. She has the darkest sense of humor ever, but she does tend to play favorites. If you're a favorite, that's awesome...but if not, well it's not like she'll grade you down or anything.
Towles is AWESOME! Like a mother- caring, thoughtful, and is very helpful! I learned SO much from this class and I'm so thankful. She is the greatest- so disregard the ONE bad comment about her. Who knows that that's about- probably someone who wanted a free A and didn't get it. This class took hard work!
Best prof.!!!
SHe was a very sweet professor and EXTREMELY interesting! She's very friendly, and i'm thinking that may be why some people see her as "a flirt". I didn't see that at all. She's very nice & likes to tease people. i enjoyed this class a lot. I would recomend her to anyone who will actually GO to class and wants to learn how to write well!
One of those teachers who make all the bad stuff about school worth it.
She is an amazing teacher. She's hard and will work you hard, but her classes are the best!!!!
Shes not easy but shes an amazing teacher!
Mrs. Towles was my inspiration for becoming an English teacher...she was incredible. On the first day of class she had memorized all 38 of our names by the end of the hour. She is hilarious and entertaining, and teaches the material very well. I loved her class....so sad I only could get into one of hers.
Great teacher overall... very sarcatic which is right up my alley! I put in a lot of time and effort and got a good grade, plus I learned a ton about writing a good paper. I like her much more than her husband! lol
Mrs Towles straight rocked, not only is she very intelligent and funny shes very compassionate and actually takes time to learn about students and their lives. One of the best professors i had and i was not even an english major. Rock on Mrs Towles

Love this woman!
She lives up to her name "Paper Natzi." She loves papers but she will help you with them. She is one of the best English teachers I have ever had.
She is my favorite teacher here because she makes me work for my grade and she cares about us as people not just students. She is the best ever!
My favorite english prof!! Her classes are usually full by the time athletes and honor students enroll, but if you have a chance to get a seat, go for it!
shes an amazing teacher and you really learn alot.
wow, this woman is amazing. i had her at 8am and she kept it interesting and interactive, which is astounding to me. she will teach you to write perfect papers, which is fantastic, because i can write papers for other classes so easily now!!!
arrrgggg, definalty plays faverents, if your on a sports team or she likes you, the due date is a suggestion, if not, you better get it in on time.
Great professor and lady. Willing to work with you and help you with assignments. Quizzes are done daily and with every reading that she assigns. Test are long but not that hard if you study. Great Engl professor and her class is quite an experience. You should take her.
AMAAAAZING teacher.
She's witty. Fun to pick on, she picks back, etc. She's really strict, and really hard, and requires a lot of work. The exams and quizzes were really hard. If you're an overachiever, you'll love her class. If you're like me, though, you'll have a hard time remembering who wrote which stories when the time for test-taking comes around.
If you aren't one of her "favorites" (ie an english major) she'll definately pick on you. Her quizzes and tests are really hard (all short answer or essay). DO NOT talk during class or she will call you out in front of the entire class with a rude comment. Also, shes really strict on attendance. I would take someone else if at all possible.
She is an AMAZING teacher! I went into her class not really knowing how to write good papers and hating English with a passion but she completely changed my mind. She is funny and keeps your attention. She is also very helpful and loves her job. She is an excellent teacher and LU needs more professors like her! :)
i never thought she had a favoritism issue. she was really nice to me, though she is one tough grader. the readings are interesting, she values your opinions of how they were. the tests are all short answer, but they really aren't that hard if you did the reading and studied
She is not easy but she is clear about what she wants and how she wants it to be done. It is easy to make a good grade with her if you do your homework, take notes, and ask her for help.
Mrs. Towles is absolutely AMAZING. I absolutely love her. She knows how to challenge you, but she is ALWAYS there to help you. She's just awesome. I definitely recommend her. She's a lot of work, but it pays off. I can't be positive enough about her!!
Mrs. Towles is incredible. She loves what she teaches and it shows. She is so much fun to be around and is regularly available at her office. Highly recommended.
Good times..
It's not a blow-off class, but it certainly isn't bad. Even in a 7:40 a.m. class, it was easy to stay awake and listen. She's really funny and nice (also a proud-of-it Texan :) ); I would recommend her.
She is very funny, and understanding.
Very challenging; lots of papers! Overall Good Class!
Tough but good class. Fair grading, good teacher.
Mrs.Towles is an amzing professor. she is hard, but i genuinly interested in helping the students learn to their full capacity. i absolutly love and have the upmost respect for her!!
Amazing!
She's a good teacher. She's just hard.
She's awesome! You all should take her.
she's a good teacher, but she puts a little too much personality into the classes. she's always making a crack about someone texting in the back, and i've seen her call out students infront of the class for 5 min + for not having their work. not afraid to embarass you and can be pretty sarcastic. classwork wise = just do the papers & u'll be fine
Amazing teacher! I would recommend her to anyone! Easy to understand and fun.
I loved this English class. Quizzes are EASY if you just read. I usually read right before class or as I'm in there, and I get 100's on them. Show up to class, do your work, and ask for help on the papers if you need it.
She was very difficult, but an amazing teacher. Loved her!
Mrs. Towles is not the easiest teacher you will come across, but she will make sure you are learning your material, and if choose not to, she will intimidate you to XD. I loved her Texan accent and her sense of humor. A very fun teacher and if you can get past the fact that her class won't be exactly a walk in the park per se, you will learn much.
I really learned a lot in this class and enjoyed it too for the most part. She is a great teacher with a sense of humor. Keeps u on ur toes. There is a LOT of writing and easy quizzes in this class-like something's do almost every single class, but u learn a lot. Definitely recommend her!! If u work hard, u'll be fine.
She's a great teacher. She doesn't make the class easy, but it's worth it.
Only horrible professor I've ever had at Liberty. Extremely rude towards me constantly. No sense of humor. I've been an A-and-B English student my whole life, and she failed me. I retook it online with another professor and easily got an A. Never take her for a small-class setting unless you're a female English major. She takes a liking to them.
tough and hard
The most abhorrent, beastly teacher! At least 4 of my friends that are all-A students FAILED! That's extremely telling! She was blatently hostile though completely unprovoked-as well as disparaging and condescending-on the FIRST DAY when I asked her a simple question! I was flabbergasted at her unmitigated rudeness! She's repugnant at best!ESCHEW
You either love or hate her. I definitely didn't love her. If you talk in class, make any suggestions, or question her opinions, you'll face the verbal ridicule and rudeness of this lady. Shouldn't be teaching at a Christian institution. From what I've heard, she's friendly outside of class, but definitely needs to consider a different profession.
Mrs. Towles is a funny professor. I have not had any problems yet. I don't know where everyone gets their opinions but I highly recommend her for a professor.
odious,odiferous,execrable,deplorable,intolerable,patronizing,brusque,revolting...listen to this warning, if you don't you will live to regret it(if you're lucky)!
Never take her!!!!!!!
Highly suggest taking Towles. She is funny and keeps you paying attention but does not bore you. Grades really depend on your GSA in 101 but the lecture class with Towles is fun. Very good professor!
I actually really liked Mrs. Towles. The class isn't even that hard. You just have to do the work and if you're not a great writer, that's what your GSA's are for. So, for the person who failed, he/she probably didn't turn in a paper or plagiarized what he/she did turn in. Plus, in 101 you're with your GSA the majority of the time anyways. Good prof
Run the other way as fast as you can! This class is very time consuming and she acts like you have all the time in the world to work on her assignments. She also has a very strict attendance policy (even if you are sick you have to turn things in on the day they are due). TERRIBLE!
mrs. towles is AMAZING!!! she is definitely a hard teacher in comparison to others, but she really cares about her students. if you go to her for assistance, she'll help. when i completed every one of her classes with good grades, i felt like i had accomplished so much. she made me WANT to work hard. :)
Stay far away! That's my only advice for you!
I liked her. But not her GA's!!!!!
She was a great prof, I would definitely recommend her for any freshman taking English 101!
Terrible teacher. Not understanding at all towards any special circumstances, whether in the hospital or not able to get the required books on time. Do not take.
All i have to say is sit in the middle and she won't pick on you or call on your for answers. Good Luck
She's a great teacher, explains things clearly, and has a good sense of humor. I would definitely recommend her class. You will write quite a few essays, but she helps you through them step-by-step. Its not an easy A, but its worth taking and will improve your essay writing overall.
She's a very sweet woman but it is ALOT of unnecessary work in my opinion...be prepared to write MANY papers. Good Luck!!!
The class requires excessive work making the student unable to keep up with other classwork assignments. The GA's are very critical, sarcastic, and power hungry. They suggest meeting with them to view your paper, but even after doing so and going to the undergraduate writing center I still received a D for a grade. Mrs Castaneda is a BAD TEACHER!
Really nice lady. I had her on Mondays and a GSA on Wednesday and Friday. I have heard GSA are rather poor, but my was good. However, the grading done by the GSA's and her are very strict. Although I only saw her once a week, she is a half way decent teacher.
Very sweet woman. Tons of busy work. GA's are absolutely horrific. Tons of papers to write. harsh grading, no sympathy for tardiness, or missing classes, no matter how good of an excuse you may have.
She gives out a ton of homework, although you should expect that seeing that you're in college. Her grading is very strict though, so prepare to pull your hair out.
Funny prof.
Not hard. Good prof. I'd recommend her.
Anyone who spells "favorites" improperly should not state that Mrs. Towles has them. She's one of the best professors I've had, not to mention, she's understanding when REAL problems interfere with class performance.
Want to learn to be a good writer? Take Towles. Her feedback is critical, constructive, and beneficial to you as a writer. Great professor. On a personal level she can be harsh and brutally honest, but academically she's the best of the best.
Good professor who teaches you to write papers well. There are many papers to write, but it's not a boring class. I recommend her.
Mrs. Toweles was really nice. She's sarcastic which makes things funny sometimes in the large group classes. I didn't learn much from the large group classes, however, because we were REALLY taught in our small group class with a GA. My GA, Ms. Hamren, was awesome. Really clear, concise, and helpful. Used to hate writing & now I like it!
Worst teacher I've ever had, not just in college but in my entire life. ENGL 101 classes with her are bearable because it isn't just you, her, and only a handful of other students for 150 minutes a week. She needs to learn some class, and some mercy.
She was okay I think. I mean, her class required a lot of work, but it was easy work. However, it was time-consuming. It was hard for me to devote all of the time I would have like to devote to the class because of all my other courses. My GSA was very nice. Overall, it was a very easy class if you just do what you are supposed to do.
u have so many papers when i say a lot i mean alot & she grades hard & she puts the fire under her ga's so they grade hard 2 this is not an easy class u must do what mrs. towles says wyhen she says it and how she saids it and if u dont you WILL FAIL u must turn in every paper or u WILL fail she is NO joke this is not a joke other than that u r fine
It's English 101. it's not fun. It's not terrible. Just something you've got to do. If you take her MWF you only see her monday and you spend wednesday friday with your randomly assigned GA, so really, it's all about getting a good GA. They are the one's that do that grading, reviewing, etc. Towles is okay. She's just your average english teacher.
Mrs. Twoles is amazing. She's an awesome teacher, and I love her sense of sarcasm. The difficulty level depends on whether or not you enjoy writing. My GSA, Mrs. Hamren was the absolute best ever. I loved having her for a teacher, and it really strengthened my writing ability. Both teachers were awesome.
This class is pretty easy, but reeeeeally time-consuming. You have to attend every class if you want to do well because there is always something due. Quizzes are honestly pretty tough. You really need to study the books. Longest paper we wrote was three and a half pages. Not very hard.
This woman is downright mean, unwilling to help you out at all, doesn't really follow Liberty's policies either. It is really unfortunate they let her keep teaching and that there is little or no other option for professors for ENGL 101.
I think I killed at least 50 trees. The number of papers you have to write and print out is ridiculous. This class is more time consuming than all of your others combined. She is a very nice lady but her class is too much.
THIS class is a ton of work.
This class was absolutely ridiculous!!! If you can keep up with the insane amount of work then you will do ok, but if you have much work at all in other classes DO NOT take this class!!!!! Also, whether you pass or not depends on your GA.....so if you have an easy GA you'll pass but if you have a bad GA you WILL fail!!!
I really enjoyed her class. She was a hard teacher but I learned so much more by taking the class.
She is nice and funny but the class is full of work and essays, it is so time-consuming
one of the worst teachers i have ever had. does not relate with students. hard grader. Do not take her regardless of your GA
Her quizzes are short but hard, I haven't passed any of them. Homework is insane, some days you have to bring 2-3 homeworks to class. The class is so annoying
This class was a waste of time. Think of everything you learned in like 7th-8th grade and that is what this class is.
Mrs. Towles is an alright teacher but the material chosen is sub-par. And on top of that she is a bit discriminatory.
Mrs. Towles is fun and a good teacher. She gives tough quizzes and you have to do alot of papers.
Mrs. Towles is entertaining, but it is the luck of the draw with the GSA. You might get a tough one or an easy one.
I was not a fan of this prof. I found her unapproachable, rude, pushy, and occasionally prejudice. The material was decent, but she did not elaborate on certain material that was on the final. Quizzes were completely unreasonable. I lucked out with a fantastic GSA and learned a lot in the breakout sessions. But as for Mrs. Towles - no.
Mrs. Towles is a wonderful English teacher! She is very clear and concise w/ her teaching but also interesting and passionate about her topic. There's a lot of little steps to the 101 class, but it's super helpful w/ giving an idea of what's expected in future college writing classes. An excellent class w/ a great teacher!
Too much busy work. We had to learn a lot that was not that relevant to the class. She was not always clear on the assignments. The grading was tedious. I do not recommend her.
Towles is a really good english teacher. I learned a lot in this class. She doesnt mess around when she says she gets the jumbo Dr. Pepper everyday!
This class was very challenging for me. Lots of work required to pass. Really hard to get an A with her as your teacher.
the grading for this class was ridiculous. Different GSA's grade differently and if you have a bad one good luck getting anything higher than a C for this class. You spend more time with your GSA than you do mrs. towles so your grade depends entirely on your GSA.
She is a decent professor who is very clear with directions, but you only see her on Mondays and the rest of the week you spend with your GSA and your grade really depends if your GSA is good or not (mine was awesome!). Other than that, English 101 is a lot of paperwork but its not difficult.
she is a real sweetheart who motivates you to do great work.
She concocts ambiguous quizzes and unhelpful lectures.
It's ENGL 101, what more to say? Most students wouldn't take this class if it was not mandatory (myself included). Towles ran the large lectures and she was interesting. Smart lady but a boring subject in my opinion.
Always fun always interesting. Even if Englsih is stupid
She makes fun of her students a lot. This is not cool.
From vague power points to sloppy, ill-thought out lectures, Mrs. Towles is a bad teacher. The work load is more than any other class combined, with 100 question quizzes due every week, on top of multiple essays and readings due each week. What makes it more absurd is that she makes fun of you to the whole class if you ask a private question. Wow.
Towles is a terrible teacher she. She makes fun of her students on a daily basis. The GSA's that she has chosen are terrible teachers. My GSA Mrs. Lang is awful at explaining what we are to do and I regularly leave class confused and discouraged about what my final grade may be. The work load is a lot to keep up with. If you can take it online.
Towles is an interesting professor. She isn't necessarily tough but she was a little unclear when explaining papers and assignments. Her GSAs are different in performance. I had Ms. Barnard, and she was pretty good explaining and reviewing the material and helping us write papers. She was also really easy on the eyes ;)
Towles is a good teacher honestly but the work load is a ton. There are weekly quizes, both online and in class, detailed outlines, bibliographies, and papers due almost every week. Take online if possible!
Mrs. Towles has a passion and love for English and her students. She demands respect in her classroom. She keeps her class interesting and light hearted by adding humor. As long as you do the required reading, you ace the quizzes.
Mrs. Towles was very mean to me and said some nasty things about my paper. She is just a very mean professor.
She is a terrible at explaining the work and so is her GSA's.
She doesn't display excellence in her field, always asking her assistants questions about the material she should know. She also assigns work that truly is "busy work", as many assignments do not contribute to stronger writing.
Mrs. Towles is a seasoned veteran of English teaching. She is nice enough in a one-on-one setting, but in class, (large lecture hall) her humor is most often at the expense of the students (which means it almost always falls flat). I made it through with a B, but next time around I would look for a different teacher.
She's a great teacher and I would definitely recommend taking her for English.
She is nice. She tries to make the master session as funny and inspiring as possible. However, her flat intonation sometimes makes me feel so sleepy. And ENGL 101 is annoying as it asks us to print out a lot of unnecessary papers, some of which are never be turned in (?!?)
This old burnt-tire-throat nasty harpy is a pain in the butt to listen to and I hate her class. She likes to publicly humiliate freshman who have their phones out in class, but she doesn't know that they need it to not literally die of boredom. She'll make the class laugh at you if you don't make direct eye-contact 24/7 by saying you're napping.
I felt like I was back in high school taking this class as a sophomore. Lectures are pointless, treated like high school students. Doesn't dismiss early even though she is done lecturing 15-20 mins before class is over. Doesn't let students use phones or laptops. A LOT of busy work for no reason, just overall not an enjoyable class with her.
She seems like a fun person to have in a smaller setting, but for Eng101 she is not great. Be prepared to feel like you are back in high school with more work. If you can, get out of Eng101, chances are you know a lot of it. The class has a lot of busywork, and her GSA's for small groups are hit or miss. (Johnson is great if she is still a GSA.)
The class in itself wasn't difficult. The amount of homework was UNREASONABLE. Tremendously so. If I had known how difficult it was going to be to keep up with the MULTIPLE homework assignments required before each class I would not have taken it. I should have CLEP'd it, but I did learn. She is a nice person, just ridiculous with homework.
I loved Mrs. Towles. She is one of my favorite professors at Liberty.
This professor is one of the worst I've ever had. She made sure we were continuously writing big papers. There are no breaks with her. A lot of the work given is busy work. I will not be taking her again.
She was awesome, didn't see her much.
Just so terrible. Don't take any classes with her... -Super boring -Useless homework that takes awful amount of your time. Her GSA's are especially terrible. They don't care about you. They are there to fulfil requirements for their master's degree.
I took Mrs. Towles' ENGL 101 class in the Fall of 2016. Mrs. Towles assigns busy work. There is a lot of time put into homework. She is NOT a bad teacher. Her GAs will do most of the teaching, though. Her class is easy to pass. There is a lot of extra credit too. Overall, I was fine with her as a teacher, but I did not enjoy the class.
Towels mostry allows grad assistants to teach and grade. Most GSA's grade very harshly. A's seem to be handed out to students who are lesser writers. Necessary evil, unless you have test out or have transfer credit to avoid English 101. DO NOT WAIT TO TAKE THIS CLASS: take the class during a easy semester when you have time.
As an English Majod I would say that her class is very helpful! She is a very nice woman who cares about her studnets. The only criticism I have about the course, is that all four papers assigned are research papers. I believe that she should assign several different types of papers... but that's just me. Lots of homework, but this is college...
She didn't have the likeable personality my favorite teachers had, but she's a fair and engaging teacher. The class required hard work and my GSA was hard on me but at least I learned a lot. NEVER get on your phone or she will call you out; she did it almost every class. Not a class you can get away with sleeping in for sure.
Nice person, decent teacher. Not a bad class, but not a great one by any means.
She is a very caring professor. English is not my strong point, but this class was very helpful in many ways. Be prepared to print everything. Almost every assignment needed printing. You will not get credit if you do not have the paper in class with you. There are many ways to get extra credit, just do your work and go to the lectures.
To difficult class. Too much essay, journal, and assignment. Even, she doesn't give enough credit. I hate this class and worst class ever. Stupid
Not the best Professor but amazing GSA.
Great class but be prepared to do A LOT of writing and busy work. You will also need to print a lot of papers!!
I didn't like this class. The content wasn't bad, but there was SO MUCH busy work. Professor Towels only taught the big lecture on Mondays, and she usually just read the power point. Class is taught by GSAs the other days. I learned how to write a little better, but I wish I took it online.
The content was not hard but there were hours of busy work per week. Takes up a lot of time.
Professor Towles herself wasn't bad. However, the class itself was awful. It was so many hours of work every week and the GSA's grade pretty hard. If you have the option, definitely CLEP out or take it online.
Professor Towles is a nice lady and good teacher. However this class will make you want to jump off of Freedom Tower. The amount of homework is insane and the GSAs are pretty strict graders. I would recommend that you either CLEP out of this class, or just get it out of the way immediately your freshman year.
She was nice, but not as good of a teacher as the GSA I had. She gives WAY too much busy work, and grades ridiculously hard.
Too much busy work. This one wrecked me.
The professor was clearly well-educated, but most lectures were dull and didn't engage the students. The large number of papers created a heavy workload.
The workload is insane. Don't be surprised when at least half of your homework is for English.
Mrs. Towles was an excellent teacher when I had her for ENGL 101. There are many papers to write; however, they are done in segments, so you don't have to write a whole paper for the next class. She gave excellent feedback on our written work and cared about her students' grades. Bring your textbook to every class!
I enjoy English and writing, and I took AP Lit in high school, so this class was fairly easy for me. There are a lot of papers back to back, though, and we had homework almost every day of class. She gives great feedback, and I felt like I improved as a writer while taking the class.
I would give a 2.5 if possible. Dr. Towles is kind and willing to work with you, but as a professor, she is not the best. Like the other posts said, LOTS of readings every class period and lots of papers (4 I think for a literature class). She is also a tough grader with not much good feedback.
I really really loved Mrs. Towles! I was a little scared by her at first because she has a very dry humor, but she really cares about her students. I reviewed the reading before each quiz in class and did very well. Go see her to go over your essays, she's happy to help you and gives clear feedback. Overall, I learned a lot and am very fond of her.
I really enjoyed taking ENGL 305 with Professor Towles! She was funny and caring, and although the class itself was overwhelming at times, I came out of it feeling like I learned something.
Professor Towles is no joke, but she is truly a professor in nature. For 8-week residential, it was a common 8-week workload but it was a load off the shoulders when it was finished. Hey, if you complete your Cengage MindTap's, you get free zucchini bread straight from her kitchen! Truly a sweet teacher who knows her way around the English major.
Mrs. Towles is a gem. Gave us a whole loaf of zucchini bread in our last class. Grades harshly on papers but not on exams. Exams are mostly short answers. Not a difficult class but the workload is way more than other 200 level classes. Take the 8 week- course so you don't have to suffer for too long. 2 exams, 3 papers, and a quiz for every class.
Mrs. Towles is my favorite professor! She gave our class zucchini bread, delicious! She made the class fun, even when there was work to be done. She is very helpful when giving instruction and answering questions. Would take her class again if I had the chance.
I love her, she's chill, funny, and kind, and she really cares about her students. She'll always give extensions if you ask. This particular class had a ton of papers, and her reading quizzes can ask for some tiny details. Taking notes on the reading helps. If you know how to write and know what her pet peeves are, you'll do fine on the papers.
I took Profesor Towles 8 week ENGL 101 class. She literally gave us her phone number so we could directly contact her if we needed help with something. For peer review days she brings in a sweet treat like zucchini bread or cookies. She worked with us and was full of grace! She is also really funny and sarcastic which I loved. Definitely recommend!
She is always available for questions outside of class and responds quickly. She cares about the success of each of her students and gives opportunities for extra credit frequently. She would bring us snacks during peer reviews and always wrote helpful feedback.
Mrs. Towles is amazing! I had her for an 8 week class for ENGL 102 and she was so kind and understanding. The first day of class she gives students her personal phone number so we can call or contact her faster. She is always available outside of class and offers lots of extra credit!
I really loved Professor Towles! She's a very kind lady who goes easy on you if you need it. This class was kind of tough, though. You will write 4 papers and have a lot of reading (it is a literature class). But the material/lectures were very interesting and I really enjoyed it. She also brought us zucchini bread twice this semester.
READ, READ, READ. Reading what she tells you to read or you'll fail. I didn't like her because her teaching style didn't match mine OVERALL she's a wonderful person and loves her students :)
I loved Professor Towles. Hear me say this first! She is an incredible woman, who loves her family, her students, and of course Texas. She of course cares about her students. However, she is an incredibly tough grader. She does pull apart every little thing. The reading is fully required to pass her tests and daily quizzes, and much busy work!!!
Professor Towles is always available to help and genuinely cares about student success. The workload is heavy, but using tools like Unstuck ai alongside the textbook can make the class more manageable. Overall, a challenging but rewarding experience.
Great professor who offers decent feedback on assignments. She works with students so that everyone succeeds and cares for each of her students. Definitely recommend it for MLA learning and is best as an 8-week course because it makes it feel easy and quick! Love her!
Professor Towles is lovely. She is funny, she is loving, she makes zucchini bread that will change your life. She has been reading what she teaches for years and she loves it. She knows what she's looking for in an essay and lets you know exactly what she expects from you. Love Mrs. Towles! You'll have a good English experience with her.
Professor Towles is one of the most fun professors in the LU English department. She always has a hilarious tidbit to go with her lectures. She was also very passionate about the authors we studied, which helped me enjoy learning about them. This class had around 5-6 papers, however, as well as a final essay at the end, so be prepared to write!
Barely taught three things during the whole course.
I LOVE Mrs. Towles! She is kind, funny, and has a cheerful attitude even at 8:15am. She grades assignments quickly and gives good feedback, and often offers extra credit. Be sure to both read the materials and take notes in class, the tests are material-heavy and lecture-heavy.
Carolyn Towles is definitely my favorite teacher! She is tough, and there can be lots of work to do, but she is very caring. She is also so funny and brings humor to every class. I highly recommend her as a teacher!
