She was probably the coolest teacher teacher I had up to this point, it's a really easy course, we never used the book, she gave reviews for every test and you got notes from her off blackboard that matched exactly with the review all we did was watch movies and got extra credit on tests for remembering stuff in the movies take it from her easy "A"

She is so funny and loves to watch comedian movies in class. She will let you knmow the important days to be in class and gives a review sheet for the tests which are almost identical. Also she asks to sign in for role but doesn't really care. At the end of the semester she will calculate non absent days and give extra points.

However, she should spend more of her time focusing on teaching the class and less time informing us of her political views. Teaches as if white men are the anti-christ. Dr.Cates is awesome! Out of all my classes, hers was definitely my favorite! Her power points were fun, and I really liked watching all the films she had that were relevant to the subject material, but it was much better than just taking notes. I liked having her as my professor. She gave you a review for each chapter, gave you the answers to the review as long as you went to class. You have to go to class to get the answers, as long as you study the review you should have no problem passing the test and passing the class with atleast a B. She also has a sense of humor

SUPER easy. I didn't even study for 2 of the tests and got an 87 on both. She gives extra credit a lot and will give all of the answers to the reviews the day before the test. Don't have to go to class but gives extra credit if you do. She's really funny and the class is pretty interesting. I recommend her.

Ms. Cates is one of the best professors SHSU has to offer. Here class is very EASY. All you have to do in come to class and pay attention to the power points. She will tell you exactly what's on the test - even underline it for you on the power point. No textbook needed, save your money.

Must attend class to get full insight of material. Powerpoint lecture based, she does point out information from each slide and those will be your notes useful to study for her tests. If you fail this class you need serious help. Her reviews are helpful along with the customized notes she gives in class. Study and pass with no problem.

One of my favorite courses and professors at Sam!! I would recommend her to anybody and everybody. Uploads powerpoints on blackboard but you have to go to class to get certain notes and definitions. exams are a breeze if you study. don't have to buy the textbook.

I took this teacher for Social Problems online. She posted the course calendar(In a actual calendar form) at the beginning of the semester and stuck to it. The tests were doable, I felt confident with their powerpoint summaries and my book. There are some discussions but they are all for topics that are enjoyable to talk about. (Real life concerns)

Professor Caron is passionate about sociology. Her class was fun and she included comedy in class so it kept the students interested. Only 4 tests, no finals. Tests were like the reviews which she provided in class so don't skip class. Over all, this is an easy class. If you show up, take notes and study for tests, you'll make an A.

To make an easy A in this class, you need to go to class cause she gives you 5-10 points extra credit just by going (or get a sign in buddy). Memorize the reviews cause it's the exact test answers! She gives us more than enough extra credit at the end of the semester. I failed the first test and still made an A in her class! Impossible to fail!!!

Dr. Cates is amazing. I have taken her online Social Issues class and her Into to Ethnic Problems class. I received an A in both. She is so fun and easy to get a long with. She wants to make sure you pass. She gives extra credit for attendance and even extra points on tests. All the tests are multiple choice.

Took this class online: this class was super easy and Caron Cates is very helpful when it comes to deadlines/feedback. Theres 6 discussions, 4 quizzes and 4 Exams. The discussions are worth 5 pts each, quizzes 5pts each, exams 100 pts each. Definitely a GPA booster class, BUT you will have to read some chapters so Id get the book.

This class is so fun! Towards the end of the semester we watched a movie for 2 weeks long! She is very engaging and makes class interesting that I even became aware of my surroundings. I recently chose a minor in sociology just because of how inspirational this Prof was! Every chapter is online but she discusses in class what you need to know before a test. 5 online assignments, but it doesn't take long to get them done. In-class debates over issues like racism and women's rights might occur, but she encourages involvement!

Easy A. She cares and helps to give u an A. just do your work and prepare for exams. 3 exams, 10 quizzes, and 5 assignments. ( Not Hard !! )

Professor Cates is the BEST! There are only four tests and ten quizzes (only 8 are graded but if you do all ten they are extra credit). there are also discussions every other week but as long as you post something you will be fine! Look at her notes you will pass the tests/quizzes. Everything is open note, there is no way you can fail!

Really cool prof, test questions come straight from power points, and its usually already bolded or underlined. You would probably have to try to fail this class, its that easy.

The lectures were full of videos and offside topics. Overall the class was fun, but when it comes to the tests I don't know why people said it was from the power points, they are not all from there. The tests are online using lockdown browser and camera, so make sure you study the book and look over the slides a bit. The teacher is fun.

THE BEST OF ALL TIME professor hands down! I have been in college 6yrs & have never seen a professor like her. She is the most passionate person about education along with being down to earth. Shes not only there for you educationally. But, mentally & physically as well. Thats what sets her apart from others!

Professor Cates is my favorite professor ever! She's hilarious and really cares about what she teaches about. Attendance isn't mandatory but she'll give you extra credit points for it in the end if you attend! As long as you take notes from her powerpoints, you'll get an A on the tests! I highly recommend her!

Wonderful teacher! make sure to take good notes as those will be your study guide for tests. Quizzes are easy to take, and you have 5 mandatory assignments to do and 3 extra credit assignments due.

Amazing professor!! She is very nice and easy to talk to. When it comes to classwork there are 5 assignments, weekly quizzes on either chapters or movies she assigns for us to watch, 3 exams, and no final. Her powerpoints are very helpful when it comes to the exams, the answers are practically in the slides.

My favorite profesor ever!! Super caring and sweet and offers extra credit. Class is not hard just take your notes and you will be fine.

Show up, and you will pass. No textbook is required. She has PowerPoints and will tell you what to write. Your notes are your reviews and that's all you need. There are some short essays that are due, but you can finish them in one day.

She gives you extra assignments to do if you want extra credit and basically tells you what will be on the tests.

Amazing professor! Lectures are super easy and she underlines what you need to know. She often shows videos to give us more perspectives. They are always informative and sometimes funny. There are quizzes, Packback questions, assignments, and exams. My favorite class this semester!

She was my favorite professor I have had since going to school! There is only 5 mandatory assignments and 3 major tests and a few pack back questions. You do need to show up for class but she underlines EVERYTHING that you need to write down and that will be on the test.

Dr. Cates was an amazing professor and her tests and assignments are really easy. There is a quiz every Friday that is easy and an assignment due every Sunday. Her tests come straight from the underlined portions of the PowerPoints, but those PowerPoints are not posted exactly on BlackBoard. However, an easy A class with 3 bonus assignments.

Easy A if you keep up with the classwork. Homework every week but lectures are easy to follow. 10/10

Professor Cates's class was my favorite this semester! She gives great lectures and tells you exactly what to take notes over. Even though attendance isn't mandatory, I highly recommend going to class. She does quizzes as a class together on Friday. Her exams are in person, but all other assignments are online.

Professor Cates was GREAT! If you actually show up to class and pay attention you'll be fine. I'm actually taking her again for a different class I enjoyed her so much. This class isn't too hard if you do your stuff on time and not last minute. There were only 3 test along with some other assignments. Take her if you can!

Quiz every Friday that you do together as a class. Packbacks every week, DB's every 2 weeks. Tests are easy if you study. I highly recommend taking her.

Mrs. Cates is a easy going professor however I wish her power points were more put together and when she is lecturing she doesn't sound boring. Other than that I loved her and would take her again.

I would recommend taking professor cates if you have the chance, she has amazing lectures and usually lets us out early. Her lectures were very interesting and while attendance wasn't mandatory everything was on her power points on the exams. If you write down everything she tells you, you are guaranteed to pass the exams. 10/10 would recommend it.

Caron Cates is by far one of my favorite soci professors. If you do not attend class you will not be successful in her class. She makes it so easy when you attend. She'll make sure you pass every exam when you go to class and engage with her. She makes the material easy to understand by talking about the real challenges in the world we face today.

I absolutely loved taking Professor Cate's class. She makes it easy to understand as you only write down/type what's underlined in the power point slides. She offers reviews for each exam & it's a very easy class to pass. (No Final btw) Overall, if you genuinely want to learn and have fun, take her class! Just show up to class and it's an easy A.

Showing up to class will get you a good grade. Everything you need to know is underlined and she gives reviews for every single exam so its hard to fail. Shes kind, hilarious, and makes her lectures interesting which made it easy to attend class. This class is not difficult at all, take her!!!!

There were 3 exams, 5 discussions (with lowest one dropped/extra credit), and 5 quizzes (with lowest one dropped/extra credit). The exams and quizzes were based on textbook reading, all multiple choice, and very similar. The discussions were quite simple and she graded them fast. The only issue I had with her was she never responded to my emails.

Ms. Cates is a great professor. She doesn't take attendance but I highly encourage you attend. She does not post any of the in-class slides on Blackboard. Before each exam, she will go over the slides or topics you need to know (they are usually highlighted). If you listen and take notes the exams should be a breeze.

Cates was an amazing professor. Her lectures were never boring, and she always made them interactive with the class. She made sociology very fun and easily understandable. You have to be present in class to get the notes for the test, but its always an enjoyable class anyways. Would take again 100x!

Dr. Cates is an amazing professor, exams are lecture heavy. There are Extra Credit Assignments that are available ~1 month in advance. Go to class, even though her slides would be enough to pass. She has EC questions on her Exams that come from videos or conversations in class. Quizzes every Friday. Overall, I loved Dr.Cates and loved her course!

Professor Cates is a very chill professor! All you have are quizzes, DBs and 3 exams. Nothing too much!

Great Professor! She doesn't give a lot of busy work. Class has quizzes, discussions, and only three tests. Not a lot of grades so important that you do well on the tests if you want to make an A. Great class for summer session.

Professor Cates makes sociology engaging. Attend class as her slides are essential, but the material is manageable. unstuck study and course discussions helped me ace the exams. Definitely recommend taking this class!

Super nice and understanding if you ever miss a quiz, always willing to answer any questions you have, and very respectful about the things she talks about.

My class is online truly the easiest class and it ended back in October I believe weekly quizzes which are super easy discussion post again super easy I highly recommend taking this class!

Amazing professor! Her lectures were always interesting, go to class, her notes are literally the test. Study those notes!!! She always gives extra credit & no homework, the quizes she gives out we do them in class together. Loved her!!

Easy easy easy easy easy easy easy easy, fun and interesting class overall but if you want a GPA boost take her, easiest class in my life long tests though, like 59 questions each test, make sure to study

She is very honest and treats you with respect. If you even show up to every class you will get something out of your time and you will earn a decent grade. She does help with quizzes and does give extra credit on test. Do your note cards with what you write down and that information will help you through this course.

Genuinely take her, lots of notetaking and she mainly just reads off a slideshow for notes but she makes it entertaining , as long as u show up to the class the tests will make sense, quizzes are open note , you'll never use the textbook

Mrs. Caron was by far my favorite professor this semester. Homework is minimal aside from weekly reading and the exams, which are spaced out appropriately so there is plenty of time to study. Connects concepts from the text to real life, easy lectures, funny, cares about students. Go to class!!!

She is a very funny professor who makes you feel comfortable. She is also very straight forward and does not bump up grades. It is clear that to pass her class, you should attend the lectures ( she makes them interesting) and study good for the tests. We also take quizzes together as a class on Fridays.

Take her! She teaches in a way that keeps u intrigued & interested. no assignments js quizzes once a month she takes with the class theres NO way to fail if u js show up. all u have to do is write notes off the underlined words in her PPT. fyi ur notes are what u study for her tests so show up to class! I only got a B bc i missed class often.
