Gives notes way too fast. The tests are concept tests so there is no way to be completely prepared. She just pulls some vague scenario out of the air and expects you to know what it’s an example of. This is especially hard because tests can cover 4 or 5 chapters. General Psych should be an easy A she makes it a struggle to achieve a B or C.

I agree!!! She's not a bad teacher because she assignes extra credit and 50 questions all multiple choice. The class average was always a C. Good luck trying to get an A in that class but its possible if she changes her teaching method.

She's very agreeable, gives extra credit when you go to class, and tests pretty much from the notes. If you actually go to class and put in a little study time, this class is not hard at all. The only reason freshies have a hard time taking notes in this class is not because she gives them too fast, but because they copy verbatim. i recommend!

GO TO CLASS. Honestly, that's the best way to get an A. For tests, just study the notes (I did that and got a B on the first test, for the next test I read my notes and skimed the chapter and got an A). She really isn't that hard, it's just that people don't go to class. Gives a lot extra credit from attendence and random assignments.

She got on my nerves because she would read out the definition and repeat it 5x so everyone could write it down. Then i realized that by her doing this she is wasting alot of time and that means less material to be tested on. So it ended up being fine. You take about 2 pages of notes a day and thats it. She thinks she is tricky, shes not. Just dumb

No attendence policy, which is nice, but if you dont go to class you dont get the notes. Overall great teacher. I would love to take her again for something else.

Great teacher! You HAVE to go to class. The notes are slides (outlined)and you have to write what she says. She talks fast but she will repeat if you ask her to. Shes a nice lady and her tests are straight from the notes. I got a 100 on the last test! She gives extra credit for attendance and sometimes on tests also.I Recommend her!

Very fun professor, she keeps class interesting. Like to engage the class with the material with class discussions that usually end up being the majority of class time. I learned a lot in this class and I would definitely take her again and recommend her to anyone!

Pretty Easy Class. The Test were basically of her notes. Her notes were pretty much straight out the book. Provides alot of extra credit. Very interesting classes. Teacher is extremely down to earth!!!

Really good instructor. Gives lots of examples. Come to class, take notes, study the notes and you will atleast get a very high "b". From just attending class and studying the notes, my lowest test grade has been an 88.

Great professor. Coming to class is a bonus- about 10-20 points worth. Tests are easy if you come to class and take notes. Good in lecture. Has fun in class- tells jokes. Lots of notes, but worth it. Learned a lot. Take her if you are new to or love psych. I took her twice and she gave me recs for jobs and stuff. Very good teacher.

REally great professor. The class is interesting and easy to do well in. Just show up and take notes on what she says. She loves to give examples in class and use them on the tests too so its worth showing up. plus on random days she will have an activity that allows extra credit on the test.

Really good teacher! Test questions are straight from lectures, don't need to go to class everyday..just get notes from someone else (she randomly gives extra credit so it is still good to attend). Remember her exmaples in class and you will do well on the tests! Overall an awesome teacher and an easy class!

I absolutely loved this professor! She was very easy to understand because she presented the information in a very approachable manner. Go to class, though. She gives test question IN CLASS, so it only benefits you to take some notes. Plus, it's interesting stuff!

This is a GREAT professor. Easy to understand and gives great notes. Although the notes are NOT online if you attend class and take good notes there is NOO need for the notes to be online. You do not need the book if you go to class. But overall, she is a great teacher!!

Great teacher! She makes lectures interesting, but if you dislike sarcasm you may not enjoy her teaching style. Go to class everyday for e/c and material not in the book. If you want to make an A you need to read the book. The material is easy so read your notes and the book to get an A.

Don't listen to the person below. Dr. Lane is ALWAYS willing to repeat things. She is very nice and IS ALWAYS willing to help IF YOU ASK. You have to go to class for the notes because she does not put them online, but it os definitely worth it. Dr. Lane keeps class interesting and gives extra credit here and there. Child Psych. Don't buy the book, it doesn't account for enough test questions to be important. She doesn't take attendance but you really can't miss chlass because she uses examples from class on tests. Her tests questions can be confusing. She'll help you if you go to her office.

Amazing professor, she keeps the class attention at all times. She uses a lot of everyday examples with research to back it up. You need to go to class. She is also willing to meet with people to help them study for tests. Also she does not bring down men during the class.

I thought she was a great teacher. She is very sarcastic and blunt and some people confuse that as rudeness, but it actually isn't. She sometimes gives out test questions in class and also extra credit. She is willing to help you if you go see her. She doesn't rush through her notes, so dont listen to any idiot that says that.

Never had any problems with rudeness or feeling stupid for asking questions..If you go to class, take notes, and make an attempt there will be no problem. No need to suck up, either. Oh, but unfortunately you will need the expensive book for this class as it is part of the assignments..

Take her classes! I have her for child psych now, and her lectures are not at all boring, because she's very funny and tells lots of stories as examples. And she often says "that would make a good test question!" so she's always giving you ideas on what will be on the test. Go to class; she mentions things that are often bonus questions on the test

Simply put, the best psych teacher at FSU. I wish i could take all of my classes from her because she's awesome. she really cares about students (visit her office hours if you need anything and she will help) , and if you go to class you should get an A. LOVE HER!

Dr. Lane is very nice, easy to understand, and helpful. She lectures from PP slides that are not on BB and encourages discussion. Gives helpful hints if you go to her office. 4 tests, multiple choice, not too difficult. Not a hard class if you go and take notes. Great teacher!

Carrie Lane was an extremely good teacher. I loved attending her class, not because it was required but because it was interesting. Her notes are all from the lectures but if you go and pay attention you will get a decent grade in the class. She puts a lot of personal experience into her lectures which helps students see things more clearly.

By far my favorite professor at FSU. She's not easy, but her classes are totally worth it. She gives extra credit for every test. Her notes aren't posted anywhere online so going to class is a must even though she doesn't check attendance. But if you go, she makes it worth your while. She's so funny and you'll learn a lot. Not as easy as Child Psych, but still love her as a professor! Four exams and a required paper. Go to class, she doesn't post the PPs. You won't mind going, she tries to make class fun. I always get a good laugh in her class. Definitely recommend.

There are 4 exams and a paper. She gives extra credit for each exam- a one page or so reflection, worth 4 pts. She's a fun professor, would highly recommend this class!!

Four exams... 50 questions each, multiple choice. One 3-5 page paper required. ASK HER TO READ YOUR PAPER BEFORE IT'S DUE. I thought I earned an "A" on it, but she have me a 58. She's a very good lecturer, an unabashed feminist, and can be quite funny. Make sure you study for her exams, they may be only 50 questions long, but they aren't all easy.

EXCELLENT Prof.! Took her for Psychology of Women and PSY3213. Her notes aren't on blackboard so go to class! She's funny and keeps the class interesting, although some of the material is anything but interesting. There is homework which is easy but can be time consuming. Test are based off of mostly notes and some book. She DOES NOT post notes online, and they are tedious notes. Most of the class is common sense though. I personally didn't like her attitude, but she's easy and I learned a lot...so I can't complain

She explains ideas clearly. About 90% material comes from notes and her ppt, attendance is not mandatory but it does help to attend the lectures to get better grades. Makes references to her personal life and will ask students for examples of concepts and cases. She is very helpful and good public speaker.

One of the most hilarious and intelligent professors that I've encountered, Lane can be challenging but never fails to keep your attention. You need to attend class as she doesn't post slides online and test material comes mainly from lecture. Also expect to have to read at least some portions of the book before exams.

Her tests may be the hardest part of the course which they really weren't too hard. You have to take notes in this class! She does not provide you with slides, study guides, or anything along those lines. She does give interesting articles to read for HW assignments. She does try to make the class interact together!

took her for research methods and social psych. She's a great lecturer. She's clear and simplistic. social psych was harder than rsch meth, but both were relatively easy if you have any sense. didn't buy any books, just went to lectures and took notes. She cares about students, a lot. and she's really helpful.

She's awesome! She keeps class so interesting, and is so helpful when it comes to her tests. If ever you go to her on her office hours, she'll really take her time, on making sure you understand what she wants from you on the test. Loveeee her! So sad she's leaving FSU! :(
