Excellent Teacher. Probably one of the best Weber state has to offer (not really hard to accomplish) The class was easy enough if you do the homework. She does quizzes based on the homework, and allows you to use your homework on the quizzes. Tests are fairly easy compared to homework difficulty. Highly recommended for 1080

She graded a lot harder than the other math professors on the tests and she only spends about twenty minutes to a half hour teaching in class time instead of using all the fifty min. so taught really fast so it was hard to keep up with her
Carrie is a great teacher. Quizes were based off of homework. Gives partial points if you can show you know what your doing - even if you make some mistakes. Would definitely take a class from her again if available!!!
A fantastic teacher. She makes math look easy. She shows you how to do math the simplest way possible. I received a B+ in the class. Homework is required, however it helps your overall grade. She quickly replies to your emails and is VERY willing to help and meet with you anytime. A wonderful lady!
She is a fabulous math teacher. Quizes were based off of your homework, which you can use on the actual quiz. She gives partial points if you can show you know what your doing - even if you make some mistakes. She gives you full credit for correct answers, no matter how you worked it out. Would definitely recommend her for math. I received an A.
My math skills have suffered for as long as I can remember (with times tables in 3rd grade & everything went down hill fast after Pre-Algebra in 7th grade). Carrie is an EXCELLENT instructor. She is practical, fun, and very patient. She explains things well and as long as you do your homework, you'll do fine! Unit 3 ATTEND CLASS! DO YOUR HOMEWORK!
Excellent teacher!
Her ability to teach is quite the opposite of the department's general reputation. She was fun and you could tell she didn't just care about doing the minimum for a paycheck. Explained everything well and taught what was needed to do well on the tests. They should hire more math teachers like her.
Very good teacher, she cares about her students, and is very willing to help, lectures are very clear, and she will answer questions and problems you have. Would highly recommend, and I will be taking more classes from her.
her class was fun. she is very willing to spend all class answering questions on the homework. actually wants you to do well in the class. isnt out to fail you.
GREAT PROFESSOR! Was in Carrie's class numerous times because she is such a good teacher (took 1010 and 1080). Willing to work with you on just about anything and does more than the average professor. HIGHLY recommended for anyone who has ever struggled in mathematics.
Very helpful. She gives 4 tests plus a final, & she gives a quiz each week (& only takes your top 10 scores) on random days to help motivate you to keep up with your homework (which isnt turned in) and to come to class. I wasnt able to attend often, so she allowed me to turn in my homework in place of the quizes. Very helpful & explains math well.
She is a great teacher, explains things well, patient with the slower learners and available and helpful if you need her. GREAT TEACHER!!
Carrie takes the intimidation out of math. She even put the math tests on blue paper to help quell my test taking anxiety.
Tests are extremely difficult and NOTHING like the homework!
Wow! I was expecting this class to be a lot easier. Carrie usually went over time and assigned SO MUCH HOMEWORK! And her tests are really difficult! She teaches pretty clearly though and is pretty helpful. You just have to be ready to study and study and study!
Carrie made math fun and interesting, I wish she were teaching my next class. She is without a doubt the best prof at Weber.
I am a nursing student and mother of four children. I have not had Math for 2o years. Carrie was a fabulous instructor. She cares about your success in her classroom. She gave me confidence in a subject that has always been extremely difficult for me. I would recommend taking a Math class from her - :)!
This was my second class I've taken from Carrie and I highly recommend her! She is eager and willing to answer homework questions in class and outside of class. Her classes are the most demanding I've ever taken but they are the most rewarding!! With every day studying and a bi-weekly tutor, I got a good grade.
Carrie was probably the best professor I have ever had. She's helpful and very understanding if you could not make it to class. She expects you to do the work neccessary to pass and is always available to answer any questions you may have. If I had to do it again. I would definitely take a class from her any day.
This course is designed to make people who may have a passing interest in math hate it with all their hearts. This professor is nice and is helpful but an unforgiving grader and if your GPA is important to you find a different professor.
Carrie is a great teacher. She expects you to work and study - it's not a free ride - but if you put in the time and ask for help, she'll help you through the class. She's great with email questions and is open to asking questions during tests to help clarify problems. Ask for help if you get stuck and she'll help you.
If math does not come natural very difficult class. Grade is solely based on 5 tests which are not related to the homework at all(which by the way don't mind doing it bc their is a ton of it and it doesn't count towards anything). CArrie usually went over every time and even spent one class going over one section for 2 1/2 hours straight.
Fabulous instructor. Cares about the students and if they're being able to comprehend the concepts. Material presented such that whether students learn visually or by listening--you will learn. Fair. Creates atmosphere of mutual respect. 4 tests plus a final. Quiz 1x a week straight off the previous week homework which you may use as a reference.
I would recommend Carrie for anyone who is not sure about Math. She makes sure you understand is very helpful. She wants you to succeed. You have to do your homework and attend class...but that is why we're there, right? Hands down one of the best teachers I've ever had!
Best math teacher I have ever had. Very high quality.
GREAT!!
Carrie is a great teacher. She follows the textbook in class. Before class she answers some h/w question & usually asks some of those questions on the quizzes or tests. She will go out of her way to help her students and really wants them to succeed. Grading is fair, gives points for trying and doesn't take too many off for silly mistakes.
Great teacher. She is probably the most helpful I ever had. Was crystal clear with what she wanted you to do. 5 tests with a comprehensive final. Most of the time you got to take in a page of notes for each test and on the final we only had to answer 15 of the 22 questions. Easy if you do your homework and show up for class.
Carrie is a great teacher. She does a good job of explaining the material, but the thing that sets her apart is that she really cares about how the students in her class do. Although the homework isn't graded, she does do weekly quizes directly from the homework. You should do the homework anyway, to really understand what's going on in class.
Can't teach without her notes. She'll copy an example problem wrong and get the "right" answer, when we'd correct her, she'd change part of the problem to make it right. Class had an extremely fast pace, not her fault really, but there's a new homework assignment every day, due the next day.
The class is hard, but Carrie helped me almost every time I needed it after class. If you do not study an hour a day in any math class you will fail. I recommend Carrie Quesnell over any math teacher at WSU, because she is the queen of math.
Excellent teacher. The class was hard and moved pretty fast, so studying everyday is a must. She is helpful with all questions and wants you to now everything to move forward. I would recommend her to everyone she is a Great Teacher.
Nice professor, helpful, class was easy - just do the assignments for practice and then the exams are the only thing that are graded. I knew the math already so I didn't have to do any assignments, just do the exams. I'd recommend her for math, she's helpful and you don't have to waste time on things you already know.
I loved Carrie, she is beautiful person and belongs at Weber! She knows math ridiculous good.
She is the best math teacher I've ever had, easily. I found her lectures to be organized and clear. She is awesome when you request additional clarification or help. Homework and quizzes are graded via MathXL, but a few are still done from the book. 5 tests. 1 final. Very fair grader. 1080 is a difficult fast paced class period, but she's the best.
awesome prof
I have enjoyed my class with Carrie. She takes her time to explain everything when you have questions
Carrie is a wonderful teacher! Always willing to explain problems and help students out. Wants her students to do well. Take a class from her!
Very great at explaining everything! Put math in terms that are easy for YOU to understand. Is willing to help whenever you need it and stays on top on your schedule to make sure you finish in time. She really cares about your success. AWESOME!
She was a really great professor. I'm pretty bad at math, but she was more than willing to help me until I understood the concepts. I really really recommend her. She sets aside time to meet with you if you need to, and she is very flexible and helpful. GREAT!
Best professor yet, crystal clear and willing to help. I don't think she could have done a better job. Her skill at teaching actually impressed me, she made something so hard so easy. Text book s extremely useful, but you could probably just buy the online package which comes with explanation and textbook pages.
Carrie is one of the best math professors I have ever had. She teaches clearly and helps whenever she is asked. If you have a chance to take a class from here, TAKE IT. The tests are difficult, but if you do the homework and the quizzes you have absolutely nothing to worry about.
She is a great teacher that teaher class in as simplicstic terms. She is very down to earth as is willing to work with you on any situation. You dont really use your text book that much and could very easily get a copy of a few assignments from a classmate. Her test are only 10 Q's so you have to know your stuff for a good grade.
Carrie is wonderful. I have taken three math classes from her. She is clear, and helps you to understand what it is you are learning. Some people think she is stern, but you have to take the time to talk to her and ask questions. So very helpful and great! I definitely recommend taking class from her. She'll work with you on everything.
I had Carrie for 1010 and 1080. She is one of the best instructors I've had at Weber in any department. Her lectures are great, and if you need 1 on 1 she's good at figuring out where you're having problems and explaining it so you can understand it.
Carrie is awesome. She does a very good job at covering the material on the homework and on the tests. In this class you use mathxl (an online math program) to do your homework. She has reviews for ever test that cover the test material well. Very generous on test scoring, if you show work you'll get partial credit. Loved her!
I absolutely loved her. She always checked to see how I was doing and to see if I needed help. She's very easy to talk to a well.
This professor is a gem! She is extraordinarily helpful. She was willing to meet with me multiple times on her own free time to see that I was progressing! Highly recommend Carrie Quesnell!
This class is hard and time consuming-not due to the professor. Stay on track. Carrie was very helpful and responsive. You will need to dedicate the time but it has to be done.
Ms Quesnell (kuh-nell) is very nice and helpful. Quick to respond to questions. The class is VERY time consuming but is essential to learning the material. She expects a lot from her students and is very particular about the way things are done, but you can get an A if you are willing to play along. Would recommend.
Carrie helped me so much, I had a really rough semester. She was there to help me through the entire course. She let me retake tests and the final so I could pass. Shes amazing and is the most helpful professor I have had so far.
the type of coursework is repetitive (note taking, journals, etc) and time consuming but helpful. Prof Quesnell is very helpful and quick to respond even through the online course. Consistent with making sure I was on track and progressing through the course.
Professor Quesnell is more concerned about her students' success than most professors I have met. She will work with you to help you succeed. Watch the online lectures and you will not really use your textbook.
Miss Carrie is a fantastic remedial course Professor. She cares that you succeed. I was able to understand the coursework easily from the e-book, but Miss Q is really good at giving a different perspective into the problems. Attendance not mandatory as long as you are current on coursework, but check before you skip, as there are class types.
I liked how the flipped course worked: doing the work in classnotes @ home I heard a lot of negativity of the math program, but now I know those comments are made by people who don't take the time to practice math, or use the resources that they are paying for since the software tells you stepbystep. I HIGHLY recommend taking her class.
Professor Quesnell is more concerned about you understanding the concepts behind equations than the memorization of formulas and equations. She is very clear and cares about the success of students.
She does some classes were you do your homework in class and then take the test out of class. She makes you get in groups so as a Freshmen it is nice to get to know others in your class.
Prof Quesnell is an amazing instructor. She genuinely cares about every student that shows that they are putting forth the effort. She also can explain math concepts in a way that one can relate to.
Carrie is a great professor! She is super kind and always willing to help you. I personally struggle a lot with math and she made it bearable. There's a good amount of homework but it's a math class so that's expected. I would definitely take another math class from her!
Very caring, if you're willing to put forth the effort, she's willing to help you in anyway she can.
I really enjoyed Professor Quesnell. She is very willing to work with you. I felt like she personally cared about me and my success. She's very likely to answer questions and help through struggles.
I took Carrie's flipped course for Math 1010. It was a great course! She is super helpful if you ever have questions, and the flipped course really makes doing homework really easy. The flipped course is all about taking notes on video lectures at home and trying to work the problems on your own, and then meeting in class to ask questions.
Carie was an amazing professor. This was my first ever college/university class, which I took during the 6 week summer block. Carrie was always extremely ready to help and make sure I really understood the topic, and was generous with test attempts if she could see I was giving it my best. Amazing professor!
Carrie is a great professor! she helps explain concepts well and if you need extra time on an assignments she will give it to you. You can also have extra tries to take test if you need to, all you have to do is email her.
She's really excellent at explaining the math thoroughly. She assigns group projects before every test and honestly they are really fun and super super helpful. Tests are usually easier than the assignments and she doesn't give extra credit but it's not exceptionally difficult to get an A.
Amazing teacher. She clearly demonstrated all concepts and made learning easy. She really wanted you to learn the concepts and cares about student's success. Great class learned a lot.
The classes do not have much instruction, however she is helpful to get help from.
I have no issues whatsoever with her, she did amazing on her part. She was very focused and really determined for everyone to know the information. Her teaching method was just not for me, if you are slow at picking things up and really need a little bit more detail with explanations then she isn't the instructor for you. This course is fast pace.
Carrie is the actual best professor on campus. She cares about what you learn and how you learn. She will always help and will always make time for anyone. If you don't understand just ask because it isn't hard to get an A.
meh. she's ok. wouldn't take from her again though. she will help you for sure but the tools she uses didn't work for me.
I loved Prof. Quesnell! She was willing to make sure that each student understood each concept and was very helpful. Every week there is at least 5 assignments, unless there is a test, so it helps to stay caught up. The homework and book were provided through paying for Pearson so don't bother buying a hardcopy text unless you like it better.
This class was a lot harder than it needed to be. I took this class previously from another professor, but had to drop it for personal reasons. When I took it again from her it might as well have been a different subject. She over complicated things and taught us things we didn't need to know. I would not take her class again.
This is a math class so you just have to be prepared to put in the work and time to receive a good grade. This professor worked well with my online schedule and always gave effective, kind feedback.
pretty average class. I never studied but still passed. 5 credit class. lots of homework and group projects to study with before a test.
This teacher was ok. She was nice but I feel like she didnt explain the material very well. It was my second time taking this class since it didnt transfer so thankfully I was semifamiliar with the material. It felt like every day we were catching up from the last section and didnt have enough time to go over the homework from the night before.
Carrie is one of the best math teachers and the best teacher on campus. She is devoted to making sure every person who is willing to do good in the class does. Carrie will sit down with you and do everything she can to make sure you understand the concepts you needed help with.
The best math teacher I'e had, really works on preparing you to take later math classes so you understand, if you don't need later math classes, might want to take it from someone else. She knows her stuff really well, takes time to help with questions you don't understand.
This class was amazing, she is great at answering questions and really wants to see you succeed. Go to class EVERY DAY because there's always new material. There's homework every day, but it's due sunday at midnight, so there's plenty of time to catch up. She is hilarious and down to earth, so she loves to help her students succeed. Do the homework
She is probably one of the best professors I've had at WSU. She really cares about her students and wants you to succeed. Always willing to answer questions and help in any way she can. There is quite a bit of homework, so Definitely go to class. she moves quick, but if you are in class it all comes together. Would recommend her 10/10 for 1080.
This class is made a lot harder than it needs to be. Her teaching style is poor, because she understands the material, she expects you to understand it just as well and doesn't help you understand something if you're not catching on. There are 5 total tests including the final and they're all very hard. I felt as if I was basically teaching myself.
She is an amazing teacher for the material. She will go out of her way to help you learn the material. Her quizzes are from the homework, so doing homework is key to succeding in this class
I haven't had very many math teachers that I've liked, but Quesnell was awesome! She taught the material well and was always willing to re-explain things. She gives partial credit on tests which is a huge help.
Honestly, by far, The. Best. Math Professor at Weber! She wants to make sure you understand and she definitely prepares you for Calc 1. If you aren't planning on taking Calc 1 take it from her anyway. She wants you to pass the class. If you put in 110%, You'll get it right back! Take Notes, Do Your Homework, Work Hard & You'll Get What You Work For
I took her class online. She was very responsive and was accessible out of class. I wasn't able to complete the first test on time so she allowed me to retake the first exam after the final. She wants you to succeed.
Prof. Quesnell, is amazing! I had her 1010 class online and she responds extremely fast to emails and is very helpful! She genuinely wants her students to pass her class and will do anything in her power to help you succeed! Would recommend 10/10!! There is alot of homework but what math class doesn't.
super awesome math professor, she really knows her stuff. She's super flexible and easy to reach outside of class, always willing to sit down with you and help. Lots of homework but it is necessary in order to learn the material.
Incredible teacher. constantly willing to help and make sure you get the material. super lenient with tests and quiz's and very understanding. 10/10 absolutely would recommend her for anyone taking developmental math
Loved her! She really took extra time to help me in the HUB. I appreciated her caring so much.
Easily accessible, would typically respond to emails the next day if not the day of.
Very kind and will say hello in the halls. Wants everyone to have a voice and do well.
Only take this class if you have enough time to dedicate to it. Because of Covid-19, I signed up for an online version. It's been an nightmare. The modules are endless, and she wants notes from every section scanned and submitted. She also wants you to keep a goal journal and write papers on brain development. It is unnecessarily complicated.
Unfortunately for me, my ACT scores were not counted because of how long it had been since I went to school. The professor is okay and the course is not hard, but I would not consider it "pre-algebra." The course heavily revolves around fractions and should be called "Fractions Class" so those who aren't good with fractions will have a tough time.
Ms. Quesnell is the best professor and math instructor I have ever had! She is so caring and always willing to help. She is willing to meet 1-on-1 if you need extra help. She explains things with detail and gives tips and tricks on how to do problems. She prepares you for tests/quizzes and tells you which types of problems to know. TAKE HER CLASS!!
Ms. Quesnell is very caring and wants you to pass. She goes out of her way to work with you. The class content is hard, but that's not her fault. Definitely an instructor I'd take again, and I will be looking out for her name.
Ignore the negative reviews! Math can be hard at times, but Ms. Quesnell is so helpful. She seriously is THE BEST professor I have ever had. She goes above and beyond to help you succeed and wants to help everyone understand the content. She tells you what's on tests. I'm not really a math person, but her class helped me to actually understand it.
Disregard any negative reviews! She has been the best professor I've ever had!! She's very caring and completely understanding when life happens. She gives plenty of time for assignments, tells you what to study for tests, & will go over concepts you're having a hard time with. She truly wants you to succeed. Take her class, you won't regret it!!
Carrie was one of the best professors I have had at WSU. She makes math fun and exciting. It was nice to learn math that is used in everyday life. Attendance is mandatory because yo receive participation points for being in class. I also enjoyed this class because it is 6 credit hours and it completed all of my pre and co reqs for math
I really liked Carrie as a professor she was nice and understanding, a lot of people around me thought she was tough but it’s the material that is tough and it really isn’t her fault. I recommend taking her class if you consider doing math.
This virtual hybrid class was very difficult being online and there is a lot of homework. Carrie cares about her students and if you are struggling she will help you.
I think the only reason this professor has decent reviews is because Weber has terrible mathematics professors in general. Uncaring, difficult lady to work with. Even if she makes a technical mistake on her end, she will deduct points out of sheer laziness.
Absolutely no professor guidance or lecture. Expect to have unreasonable amounts of homework starting from the first day of the semester. If you struggle with a concept you won't have time to wait for help due to the sheer amount of work assigned daily. The class felt poorly prepared and made me less confident in math.
I love Carrie so much! I don't really like math but having her there to help is awesome! Definitely taking a math class from her again if I can. My only advice for this class is DON'T GET BEHIND! I missed one week and I was still barely getting caught up on assignments two months later. She is very understanding if you communicate with her.
Quesnell is an AMAZING professor! Math is my weakest subject and I'm glad to say all my hard work is paid off this semester. Attendance is mandatory. Put effort into this course and you will do great! There are a total of 9 quizzes, 4 tests, and a final exam, all include multiple attempts and practices.
I absolutely will always think highly of Professor Carrie Quesnell. She is simply a awesome professor. Highly recommended for math. Yolanda Valdez
Professor Quesnell (pronounced kuh-nell) was one of the best math teachers I've had ever. She was very clear that she was there to help you and encouraged questions and further explanation. I really appreciated the class feedback she took to enhance the class. Didn't skip steps without making sure class knew what she was doing. Attendance is key.
When I registered for math 0990 I was expected a math class. Not an English class that depended in daily writings, weekly journals, proof of notes and 3 to 5 math tests a week. There are no lectures, no learning opportunities, and no feedback. Everything is done and " taught" through an online, generic, mandatory textbook that costs $40.
She is a caring teacher and she is willing to help you if you fall behind. The course MATH 1010 is difficult and has lots HW, Quizzes, and Tests. Put time and effort and you will pass this course.
Incredible professor!!! Her lectures are very clear & concise. She is very understanding and will respond to any questions you have. Her exams are relative to the homework and group assignments. She also often gives extensions. Overall, she really wants you to succeed in her class.
She is such a kind teacher! It had been 4 years since I'd taken a math class but she taught it in a way that I was able to do well. Tons of homework that take lots of time but it's necessary in order to learn the concepts. Tests are pretty tough and worth most of the grade. Find a study group-that's what saved me. We'd study all day on exam day
She's super cool and genuinely wants every student to learn and pass her class. She helps whenever asked and is always open to turning things in late if needed.
This is the best professor I have ever had! I cannot say enough about her! she was amazing and worked with me through a lot she genuinely cares about her students and does EVERYTHING in her power to help you pass and understand the material she goes above and beyond for each student. She has a bunch of resources for you if you need extra help!!!
Carrie was a wonderful math professor with an easygoing teaching style. We spent a lot of time working on problems in class to ensure comprehension. I absolutely would take her again.
There was a lot of homework, journals, quizzes and tests, but would take her again. Willing to help you, if you're not comprehending the math. I feel everything required was to make sure that you were fully understanding the math. Would take for other math classes.
Carrie is the best professor I've had! She teaches in a clear, relatable way, making math enjoyable with humor. She includes formula sheets on tests and allows note cards. The homework load is manageable, and she's always willing to accommodate when life gets tough. She's kind, understanding, and supportive!
She was absolutely amazing! If you are ever struggling she will sit down and talk it through with you until you understand it! She is always available to help outside of regular hours and has definitely made math fun for someone who has always dreaded math. Absolutely the best math teacher I have had!
Great teacher! Easy to get in touch with and super understanding. Around 4-6 assignments a week, sometimes less, but if you get too stressed, she will understand and work something out. Super helpful when you don't understand something. Is willing to move tests and assignments back so you can have extra time to work on them and understand them.
Quesnell's MATH0990 class has a lot of homework, journals, quizzes, and tests, but the efforts pay off. The textbook is used extensively, and attendance is mandatory. Unstuck AI was a lifesaver for study prep alongside other resources like ChatGPT. Overall, a challenging but rewarding course.
Super caring and accessible. She is willing to do whatever she can to help students pass. It isn't her fault how much homework the program requires, it is overload. She will push back deadlines as much as you need. I think her teaching style doesn't quite match my learning style, but she is a great teacher. I would recommend her for sure.
Dr. Quesnell was awesome! We had a flipped class, where we would study the textbook at home, and work on problems together in class. She'll patiently give you all the help you need. It was one of the best math class experiences I've ever had. If you're coming back to school after a long time away, try and get into her class. You'll be glad you did.
This class uses the Pearson online learning where everything is automated and based off of that pre written rubric. I don't hold her accountable for the large workload for that reason. But she was extremely rude and snippy via emails where I was reaching out to her for help. Even suggested I drop the class when asking for clarification on a quiz...
This was my first real college math class, and as someone who struggles with the subject and needs repeated practice, I found this course with Carrie to be excellent. She is kind and understanding and is always willing to help, as long as you communicate with her. 10/10.
