Really nice guy. Cares about his students. Offers his help with numerous other subjects as well.
Nice guy who cares about his students and learns their names. He has said that he is more liberal but doesn't let that influence his grading at all. Tiny little thing though is that he doesn't always give as much feedback as he could. He tends to let out class early and leaves you kind of wondering about stuff, but he is always available in office.
Really really nice guy. Gives you the opportunity to revise papers. Available during his office hours. He responds to emails pretty quickly. Im taking him for Comp1302 this summer.
Dr. DuBose is a really good professor. Hes smart and cares a lot about his students. He knows A LOT and I learned a lot. Make sure you study for his exams and quizzes though. They can be tricky. Take notes!
Dr. DuBose is a really nice teacher! Take him if you get a chance, his class were mostly 30-40 mins, we always got to leave early & he has some amazing lectures!! You will like him! Be aware of pop quizes, read your stories, memorize the literate movements and you will do just fine!! 2 writing papers worth 20%, participation was a big!
Dr. DuBose is awesome! He uses class time to deliver interesting lectures and sometimes mixes up class time with one-on-one advising and tutoring. He also helped with studying after class. He sometimes allows 15-20 minutes of class time for studying. Very quick with responding to emails. I had two jobs and he was very understanding.
Took him for Comp I and will take again for Comp II. Not boring at all and challenged me. He uses a variety of methods to teach and gives useful information. He sent me a summer reading list and helped with my self-confidence. Some class discussions are long, others are not. Any extra time we use for study sessions or to get help in his office.
He learned my name and everything! Very approachable and was always interesting. Good for ACC!
Great teacher, but hard tests. You will make an A if you read and study all of the poems before and after class.
Hes a good professor. Hes also extremely smart. Beware of his exams though. You must study and read because they can be a little tricky. I enjoyed his lectures. He responds fast to emails and is very nice. Submitting papers on time is a MUST!
He is super nice. The class was super easy and I wish I could have taken him for comp 2. Listen to his instructions and make sure you proof read and it is an easy A
Good instructor overall although I didnt get the grade I wanted. Watch out for his tests. They make you think. Hes cool to talk to and is always willing to help.
This teacher is a great choice! He makes us work for the grade we want. He is very cool and gives us good feedback. Take him if u can!!!
Great personality and a good guy overall. Lectures are on the boring side, you always get a TED talk at the end of class. He also lets class out early almost everytime. All notes are written on board and not much textbook reading. Easy grader mostly, mostly clear on essay instructions. Pop quizzes are common, he never tells you when you have a quiz
Great instructor. He gives a lot of notes so be prepared to write them down and study. Comp I is not the most interesting class no matter who teaches it, but he tries. He's always available in his office and he is great to talk to for advice.
Dr. DuBose values students freedom to be creative, so his grading is strictly mechanical and pass/fail. There is flexibility for the grade that you want; the opportunity for an A or B is optional. For this course, there was no feedback for creative improvement, and the required reading does not require textbook purchase. Poignant selected reading!
I took 1302 with him and im taking American Lit with him again cause hes so great. Very intellectual and smart, but laid back. He not only cares about his class but gives resources to students that go beyond school. He prepares you 100% for all papers, tests, & quizzes.
Professor DuBose talks fast and gives a lot of information. He gives pop quizzes. He will tell you every class that there is a test coming up, but he wont tell you how soon it will come. He has extra credit on all of his quizzes and tests.
A great instructor. Hes challenging, but also helpful. Im dont like English, but I like his classes. Hes smart and also respectful. Hes quick with email responses.
Dr. DuBose is awesome. I took him for my 1302 class during the summer and by far the best English teacher I've ever had. Participation MATTERS, if you do not participate he will assume you do not know what is going on. He is also very detailed with notes. Make sure to show up, take notes, and you'll definitely get an easy A. :)
Professor DuBose is SO amazing I am actually taking him again next semester. He really knows how to break down material in class, just make sure to pay attention because he does do pop quizzes. You don't NEED the textbook, as many of the stories are accessible online. Don't be afraid to ask questions, as it can really help you succeed.
Dr. DuBose was a great professor, he made sure that we were all doing great, and he responded to emails quickly and gave great feedback on your papers and let you go back and fix the essay. You have a few tests, and they are based on the notes he has given you so it is easy, and your grade is based on the "C" "B" and "A" tests, which are essays.
Took her class online. Write a few papers. She gives great feedback and is very reachable for any questions!
Dr. DuBose was a really amazing Comp 1 & Comp 2 prof. Very transparent about all things that would be included on exams and quizzes. He told the class in advance about possible "Pop Quizzes" so they weren't really a surprise. Very accessible outside of class via email. And gave plenty of extra Credit. Attend class and you will be fine.
Very easy A. All you need to do is like 5 discussion boards and a few essays. The essays that really matter are the A, B, C papers, which were really simple. Dr. DuBose gives back great feedback and lets you correct your work.
Took him for comp 1 and 2, the first time I took him was in the spring semester when COVID hit, he responded well and respected our time, and I took him in Fall 2020 online and it was worth it, worth my time and money. ITS WORTH TAKING HIM!
Loved this course with Dr. Dubose! I took the spring '21 DL course, she was very clear about the schedule, all work was emailed to her and she responded quickly with feedback and corrections for papers. The only way you'll fail is if you just don't turn work in. She sends back papers until you get it right and pass. I wish she taught Comp II!
Amazing teacher and the class is an easy A. First 4 papers are pass or fails. You have 4 discussion boards, 4 pass or fail essays, and 2 homework assignments, not including the C, B and A papers. He's also an easy grader and gives great feedback. Make sure you just have some time management because most essays are due few days apart (5 week course)
Dr. Dubose is a great professor. One of the best or if not the best professor in ACC. Take him while you can because he is a rare gem. make sure you memorize all the poems both asleep and awake.
Great professor all you need to do is to memorize the poems because there would be pop quizzes. Also, do well in your essays because they count towards your grade.
Amazing teacher! Take his class. You won't regret it! He gives you so much great feedback and lets you correct any blemishes on your papers.
Dr. DuBose is amazing. This is my second time taking him and I love his class. Discussion boards, and essays that's it. If you have any questions just email and he will help you. Hands down the best. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!
Professor Carrza DuBose is one of the best teachers I have had!!!! I have taken his class twice and do not regret it. We have to do around five papers, but honestly, it is the easiest thing. His grading is very clear. He gives excellent feedback and also provides the opportunity to fix your grade.
Awesome class! I took this class in the summer and it was an awesome experience! This class is easy to get ahead in(basically self paced). On all of the papers you had the option to pick what you wanted to write about which made it just that much better! There are 4 different test.. test 1(Grade D), test 2(Grade C), test 3(Grade B), test 4(Grade A)
Very easy class. There are quite a few papers, but they're all like 500-800 word minimum essays. Easily doable in a day or two. A few easy discussion boards too. Gives great feedback and lets you revise your paper before being submitted for a final grade. Would definitely take again
I took his 16 week asynchronous class. I liked him for his feedback and the way he graded. He responded almost as soon as I sent him papers (we had 7 papers and some discussion board posts that was pretty much it). He graded on pass/fail and would help you if you didn't pass. Because I did all the papers (including B and A) I passed with an A!
This professor is nothing short of amazing. He was my first professor in college at 16, and he made sure I understood the subjects. He was a very fun and interactive professor and he was an amazing mentor. I 100% recommend this professor.
Professor Carrza is the best English teacher I've had so far. He really cares about students and makes the learning process enjoyable. He replies to your emails quickly and makes students better writers.
Dr. DuBose is the best professor I've had to date. There were 6 papers, 4 HW's, and 5 discussion boards. Everything is laid out at the beginning of the semester and you can do it at your own pace as long as its before the due date for that module. He gives great feedback, lets you send him your paper introduction, and tells you what you missed.
Super awesome English professor! Always answers emails quickly and grades with concise, clear and detailed feedback on how to improve your papers. Coursework was light, with majority of grade based on papers. I feel like I've actually learned how to improve my writing as the course has gone on, cannot recommend him enough!
This class was very straightforward. There were 5 papers, 4 discussion boards, and 3 homework assignments. Dr. DuBose would review drafts in a timely manner so you can make revisions if needed. This class was relatively easy, especially if you don't wait until the last minute to start assignments. Stories were interesting as well.
Absolutely phenomenal prof. Grades fairly, gives you feedback on every essay, emails back very quickly and answers questions throughly. would 110% take a class with him again.
This class was so easy. There are a couple of short homework assignments and discussion posts, and essays due every three weeks pretty much. The professor gives you feedback and allows you to correct your mistakes, and resubmit. Just follow his outlines, submit things on time, and you'll get an A.
I love Dr DuBose, If you want to suceed in English which is not easy to do. You must have him because he is the G.O.A.T of all English professors and he grades really well especially on Papers/Essays
If you love writing and want to get better at it, you definitely will LOVE this class! He gives you great feedback for all the papers you will do. I took the 5 week semester and he made it so much better! Really recommend taking Dr. DuBose!
Took the summer 5 week online 1301 course and it was fast paced, a paper being due about once a week. As long as you sit down and turn the work in, Dr. Dubose is a fair grader, offers timely feedback, allows you to make corrections & resubmit. Was really worried about the amount of work during summer, but it was not too time consuming.
Essays required every two weeks based on a the weeks reading. Professor is clear on what needs to be on paper. Gives good feedback and tells you what needs to be corrected to get a passing grade on your essay. Discussion boards were also included based on the reading that needed to be done in the two weeks.
Amazing professor and class, very straightforward. Lots of Homework but after a while, it gets easier. 10/10 love this class and professor.
Dr. Dubose was seriously one of the best teachers! He makes it super clear what you need to do weekly; watch videos and write a discussion board about them, read some of the textbook, and write the paper for that week. Most of the topics to write on you can choose yourself and he gives fast feedback so you can correct your papers. Easy to get an A
Professor Dubose is AMAZING! Like I loved his class, it's my favorite one to date. If you take english or literature classes take him! He doesn't have tests, only a few papers, discussion boards, and HW's. If you do the work its an easy A because of how he structures the class.
Dr. DuBose is an amazing professor and the feedback he gives is phenomenal. It really helps you grow as a writer. His grading style is easy enough that you don't feel discouraged, but hard enough to help you grow as a writer and improve. If you follow the guidelines for the paper, apply his corrections, and put in the effort, it will be an easy A.
Dr DuBose is just a great person. He cares about his students success and wants to know how he can help. He will allow edits based on his feedback to your papers before a final grade is given. Papers gradually increase in word count but he is willing to read your draft to make sure you are on the right track before you get too far. 100% recommended
Dr. DuBose is amazing! There's discussion boards and 3 papers for a C in the class, 4 papers for a B, and 5 papers for an A. He is incredibly helpful and just wants you to succeed! I got a C because I chose not to write the last 2 papers but I would've 100% gotten an A if I would've just written them. 10/10 recommend!
Dr. DuBose gave amazing feedback on papers and made this class very easy. This class has 3 discussion boards, a homework assignment, and 3-5 papers. I was able to complete all assignments for that week within two days and that could probably be shortened if needed.
DuBose is amazing! He gives amazing feedback on essays. He responds fast to emails. He is very caring and flexible as long as you communicate with him. Highly recommend! Make sure to submit your assignments by the due dates. 4 discussion posts + responses, 3 papers total for a C, 4 = B, 5 = A. Make sure to read the short stories from the textbook.
Dr. DuBose is a wonderful, intelligent professor. He cares about his students and is good at communicating. I'm not too fond of reading & writing, so I was dreading both of my English courses. This was a tough 5-week summer course with 5 papers, several DBs, and HW assignments but I learned a lot. The stories are actually good too.
Dr. Dubose is by far one of my favorite professors. His asynchronous course is available before the semester begins and you have a discussion boards, a handful of readings per unit, two papers, and a final all of which aren't very hard if you actually take the time to do them. If you're a logical-type learner, I highly recommend his class(es).
Professor DuBose is the best english teacher ever! He is so easy with grading and gives such easy but informative lectures. Definitely would take again
Very good instructor. He responds to emails quickly and is very helpful with questions. The stories were fun to read.
Took him for ENGL 1301 and I am currently taking 1302. He doesn't grade by much, the essay topics are super easy, the stories are interesting, and he always gives clear feedback on what to fix and lets you resubmit.
Dr. Dubose is a pretty good professor. His lectures are very informative. Class is graded by completion and not an actual grade. 3 papers for a C, 4 for a B, and 5 for an A. Papers get progressively harder as the class goes on. No more than 4 absences allowed or he will withdraw/fail you for that class. Doesn't seem to be reachable on the weekend.
Dr. DuBose is an awesome professor. If not for his feedback I would not have gotten an A in his course. He provides helpful and encouraging feedback after every paper.
Professor gives good feedback and will review first paragraph of each paper. Make sure to get your work done on time. Get creative. Make your papers unique to yourself and you're sure to do well. The paper topics are your choice.
Trust me when I tell you, you will not regret taking his class. Extremely detailed essay guidelines that make it impossible to score low, interesting readings, constructive feedback. Turned almost all of my papers in a few hours late with no missed points. Understanding and kind professor. My favorite undergrad class I've taken thus far!
Dr. DuBose is a very challenging teacher who motivates you to try harder and notice mistakes, even if it's after the fact. Cares about letting the students pass and improve their skills; he is a great teacher, and I am pleased to have taken him. Thank you, Dr. DuBose, for all the editing notes!
Great professor. Always give feedback on papers and almost always responded to emails within an hour. Highly recommend!
Dr. Dubose is an amazing lecturer and friendly human. He grades on 5 papers, you have to pass each paper to move onto the next one, but he grades very fairly and gives advice on first paragraph to ensure your onpace Take him for a stress-free 13 weeks, the last 3 weeks will be stressful as you write your "A" paper. But Dr.Dubose is a man of means
There are 5 papers. If you want a C in the class, then you have to do the first three essays. He gave clear feedback on the essays. He has discussion board that you have to complete. I would take Dr. DuBose's class again.
Dr. DuBose was extremely personable, he starts the semester by giving short papers with very long due dates, and by the end of the semester you'll be writing over 1000 words within 2 weeks. He gives fantastic feedback, and he is really good at interacting with students. He was a great English professor and very knowledgeable too!
Dr. DuBose is an excellent english teacher, because he explains his lectures in great detail, including vocabulary explanations, historical context to the topics, and understanding answers to questions. I highly recommend taking his classes!
Dr. DuBose is one of the best teachers I have ever had. It is clear just how much he cares about his students through his flexibility during hard times, his quick and eager responses to questions, and his detailed advice while grading papers. I highly recommend Dr. DuBose to any future students. My class included 12 short stories and 4 essays.
He is a good professor, but there are no office hours, so it is difficult to go over papers with him. Any questions have to be asked via email. Other than that, the class is fairly simple as long as you follow the rubric. He gives good feedback on all the papers.
Best professor in all of ACC for English Composition. If you're looking to take anyone, this is the professor you want. Make sure you sign up early for his classes or you'll be waitlisted!
Professor DuBose was an amazing instructor. Took him twice a week in-person and had a nice experience. The workload consisted of a few things. 4 discussion boards with 4 to 10 questions each on the stories you will have to read which are fairly short, one MLA homework assignment with 20 questions, and 4 papers in total. Minimal class work.
This class is good if you take his paired class, like 1301 to 1302. He is blunt with his feedback. Also, all feedback given in his class is not for notes to grow as a better writer. He explains that you should revise your paper with any feedback given. It's hard to get a perfect A in his class; the highest grade given in this class was a B.
Dr. DuBose is absolutely amazing! My favorite professor at ACC so far. He's extremely smart and you can tell he really cares about his students and he loves to teach. Take this professor!
Loved Professor DuBose's class. Take him if you can. 4 papers and the readings were fun.
Great professor! I will take him again.
Dr Dubose was awesome!! You can tell that he truly cares about his students. He responds quickly to emails, and give great feedback on papers. I would 100% take his class again.
Only minimal issue I had was completing the discussion boards on time at the start since our class started at a later date. Other than that, he gives great feedback for essays to write better and grading is clear. His syllabus reads a lot stricter than he actually is so don't fret. Pass all the essays = an A. He will allow you to resubmit essays.
He is a very good professor who truly cares about his students. The feedback he provides is very helpful, and his syllabus is quite clear. I would definitely take his class again.
This is my FAVORITE professor. He gives amazing feedback and his lectures are good. It's so obvious he likes teaching and he respects his students. One of my favorite professors at ACC! Hands down.
This is the best English proffesor I have ever took at ACC he is amazing and he really cares about his students he is the best he is not a strict grader and he is very well organized. Thanks for being an amazing proffesor Dr. DuBose you were the best can't wait to take Literature with you next semester. TAKE HIM FAST HE IS THE BEST!!!!
I took his American Literature: Beginnings Through the Civil War class in the summer. There's a lot of reading, mostly short stories, and you have to write quite a bit for his discussion posts, along with one research paper. The workload can feel heavy if you fall behind, but overall it wasn't too bad as long as you stayed on track.
Very little to be graded on (8wk course) but very clear about expectations and rubric. Appreciates unique approaches, as well as teaches very concisely. Busy work doesn't exist in this class, and all graded responses are worth the effort.
I took his 8 week class online while also taking an additional 12 credits and it was very managable. A few discussion boards, one paper, and a final. Super easy clear grading criteria and grades are based off of completion so if you put some effort in its an easy A. Would defenitley reccommend him, also super fast and responsive with emails.
His feedback on papers is AMAZING. Like super thorough and thoughtful and fast. You will submit a paper and literally get feedback in 2 days. Super human. The class was really interesting and I enjoyed the subject. 6 or 7 discussion boards, 2 papers and a 15 question take home final that can be answered using his lecture notes. Great class!
