Carsh remains one of my best teachers. His class is fun and you learn so much!
The best teacher I've had, at any level!!!
Great teacher.... Fast talker.
After 7 years of school, Carsh was definitely the best teacher I had.
Really great Prof. Took his class 4 years ago, saw this site and still haad to rate him as one of the best teachers I have had. Made it fun to learn. Thanks Carsh!
Hard teacher but was a good one. Hard to keep up on information with him. Doesn't believe in writing things on the board to help out. I'll never forget him as a teacher
Without question, Carsh is among the most talented professors I have ever had. I am in graduate school now. Most professors don't even compare. My only regret is that I didn't take any additional courses with Carsh.
Although I took this class many, many years ago, when I heard about this web-site, I had to rate Dr. Wilturner. And not because I was his TA. He's was most outstanding!
Wilturner's class was such a great experience for me. He's such a character in class.
Definitely one of the best teachers I have ever had. Very interesting and engaging lectures, makes you really want to learn the material. I wish I had taken more classes from him.
i am the lone duck who hated this guy! i thought he was unprofessional and bragged about himself and his opionins nonstop. i had him two years ago and i still remember my dislike towards him. arrogant...got a 4.0 though!
I really enjoy Carsh's teaching, he's got a great sense of humor and is there to help you. Lots and lots of notes, make SURE to pay attention in class and you'll do fine. Study a lot too. You can get extra points by just answering in class!! I recommend this class totally!
I felt I was the most left out person in the class. He kept referring to his psych 100 class and how he taught all this stuff, when I took another instructor that obviously didnt teach me how he did. He is very arrogant and managed to make me feel horrible about myself after every class.
I took Carsh's class a year ago, but I just heard about this website, so I wanted to comment on him. He was an excellent professor. It was hard, but in the end I felt I really learned a lot about psychology. This class was strictly lecture oriented straight out of the book. Make sure you read it!
I loved Carsh's teaching style. I think that he is one of the best professors I've had. I took the course during the summer and it went really fast! I missed the first week out of 8 and still got a 3.6 in the class.
If there is "6" for interest, he definitely own it.
I took his 100 level class and for each additional psych class i have taken, I have looked to see what he's teaching and scheduled my classes accordingly. He is a phenomenal teacher for those who want to learn, those who don't like him are the ones looking to sit and do nothing in the class. You have to work, but you learn a lot! He's on top of it
Took Carsh for Psych 100, then scheduled EVERYTHING around taking him for Psych 250 & 201 next. His class CAN be difficult, but only because you learn so much more with him. He's also a practicing clinical psychologist and the sports psychologist for the Mariners, so he HAS to stay on top of current research. Best teach I've EVER had. Most fun too

He talks fast. Real fast. He's nice though. I had to drop the class after a few weeks because it was so overwhelming (I was a junior in highschool doing running Start) we took three or four pages of notes a day, cuz that's all you do, take notes.
Not a big fan of Carsh. He's a nice guy, but goes quickly and dryly through the material. Notes, notes, notes. I dropped because I couldn't stay awake; I didn't know someone could talk that long non-stop.
Amazing teacher... I still remember the lessons!
The hardest 2.8 I ever received. Read the captions in the book. Be prepared for those Quizzes, as they will kill you if you screw them up. Many people cheated on his tests which was to bad, but its their own loss. Biggest arrogant **** of a teaher I
I loved Wilturner...the class was not easy, but i learned a ton! He was great at explaining things and went over the info as many times as the students needed! I would take him again....
AMAZING TEACHER! He has an awesome way of helping students learn everything they need to learn, including things on the test. While he isn't a very easy instructor, I would definitly say take a class from him!

Carsh is by far the best professor I have ever had. I have rated every other by how challenging they are, if they don't challenge me like Carsh did, then Im pretty bored. He pulled the best out of me for every class I had with him, which is every one he teaches/taught (101, Devel, Bio, Personality, Abnormal and Independant Study)
My favorite teacher of all time, I definitely recommend you take the class with him, and no others.
Wow is he awesome! ive only had him for 2 days and he is really helping me learn new stuff about psychology...i would definatly take him! :)
best teacher at GR..... hands down
I don't know what that one person below was talking about when he said this man was "dry." He's anything but dry. He is extremely interesting to listen to, he's the kind of teacher we need more of in the world. Probably the best professor I've had at Greenriver.
One of the best profs I've ever had. I enjoyed his classes immensely and learned so much. His lectures come straight from the book, and I hardly ever read and never got less than a B- on the tests. Make sure if you miss class to either get notes from someone or read the section of the chapter for the day you missed because getting behind in these classes sucks.
He was a really cool teacher. Talked about the Mariners a lot, would give out tickets to Mariners games as extra credit, very proud of his 4 jobs. Really cool guy!
Great teacher and very interesting subject
I actually enjoyed learning something when I entered his class...hes great at what he teaches and he teaches in a way you understand, if you dont then hes more than willing to explain it differently, great guy, difficult sometimes but if it was easy i wouldnt of learned as much as i did
Great Teacher. Probably the best at GRCC. He's also damn hard though. Not for those who dont like tests. His grades are based on tests, and only tests. Also shows a little favoratism to kiss asses.
Cool teacher that keeps things interesting and helps you understand thing well!
Great classes and conversation.Totally worth it. Especially toward the end and he has spent the entire quarter answering questions and discovers that we have 5 chapters and two tests and less that three weeks until the end of the quarter...but he doesn't start really cracking down on questions and start lecturing until the last 10 days of the quart
A very nice and knowledgeable person...class is not easy but explained in detail.....somehow his class is not for those who hate tests

A truly motivational teacher who tailors his teaching style to the specific environment of the class. You get out of the class what you put into it. Very high educational potential if you truly aim to succeed. I would highly recommend any of his classes for those who are serious about psychology - all of your questions will be answered in detail.
The teach claims has runs the hardest psychology class at the school, but hes just trying to scare people away. His class is a total breeze. You just have to read the text before the multiple choice tests for an easy A. His class is all lecture and he explains everything really well. Overall he is a really smart teacher with an easy class.
an amazing teacher. greenriver is very fortunate to have him. wish they were all so great.
late for class everyday and holds the students afterclass to make up for it. will spend forever talking about baseball during class time. very charasmatic and enthusiastic. answers any and all questions very well. dumbs down the abnormal psych class for the criminal justice students. weekly tests taken outside of class time.
Yeah, he tries to scare people away the first day or so, and after that he is extremely helpful and nice. Does this bonus system that if you blurt out an answer right, he gives you bonus points. Great theory, but eggs on the obnoxious people. Oh well- he is a very good instructor though, but this class NEEDS to be attended and material studied!!
Brilliant class and would take again any time. He's an awesome teacher who actually understands the subject when compared to just plain memorization. He can not only answer questions, because expand on them. He's the best teacher at GRCC.
Carsh is definately a great instructor. Knows the subject very well. Tests are tough, you really need to understand the topics. GET THE BONUS POINTS, BONUS POINTS, BONUS POINTS. I still remember my 100 point (bonus point) PROSOPAGNOSIA - inability to recognize faces. I guess what he talks about is true. I have been conditioned!!!!!
One of my favorite teachers of all time.
Best instructor I have ever had at GRCC. KNOWS WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT!! I fully recommend this professor for anyone with a remote interest in Psych or even if your really dont care take him anyway!!
i hate his tests!!!but he is an awesome teacher. very good at answering any questions as many times as you need to understand. he is always willing to help whenever he is available. attendance is not mandatory, but if you miss a day, you miss alot.
Carsh is AWESOME!!! He's upfront about being a hard teacher, and lazy students should just quit now. He expects you to study everynight, and ask questions the next day. An awesome ride if you are willing to put in the work!
Great teacher! funny guy! don't worry about attendance. straight A as long as memorize the book content well. But some extra credit from answering his questions in class and attending may help to get a better grade. Yet his hand-writing is poor, seldom uses white board. speak speed is nice, but bear to drop notes quickly as he only verbally tell u
He's one of the best teachers i've ever seen in GRCC! He's really nice and helpful. As an international student, it's sometimes hard to follow what he's saying, HOWEVER, carefully reading the text would be of great help to kill his tests. Plus, you could get extra credits by answering his questions in class, which would directly better your grade
Not a class for slackers. Dig in & you'll learn tons! Carsh's lectures only seem fast so, record & take notes, thenre-listen & you'll realize how very patient he is! Doesn't use visuals much but they're prevalent OL. Companion CD/WEBSITE provided=helpful. Study preface + last part of ch 1 to know why. Attend faithfully = success etc.
Loved him. Definitly the best prof at GRCC. No homework. Just fall in love with your book, read it and memorize it and you are golden. Tests are hard, but they clicked with me. Predictable after awhile. midterm and final are all repeated questions, super easy:) If you respect him, smile and get good grades, he will love you and try to help.
LOVE LOVE LOVE him. Carsh is awesome, you will learn from him and he will work with you. Fun class,Hard tests, but he will go over it as much as you need to get it...You just have to ask : ) High interaction class. GREAT!!!
Carsh is a great teacher. He is direct, honest, and he is great at explaining things to the most minute detail. The class can be tough and the tests are brutal (he admits this the first day) but you can learn a lot from this guy. I do not recommend missing many days as the lectures are finely interwoven within the curriculum.Alot to learn, but fun!
Wilturner is pretty much awesome. He made everything we talked about in the class interesting. Also, he reminded me very much of Mushu from the movie Mulan, for some reason.
amazing. you have to work hard but it is worth it.
He's one of the best teacher I've ever had. Encourage me a lot, help me to keep on the track eventhough this is my first quarter and still got much problem in language. His test wasn't easy but if you keep making note and attend his class everything's gonna be allright.. Salute him =)
He is one of the best teachers I have at college. He is always willing to help you when you ask. His test are hard, so you really need to read the chapter and ask questions. The more questions you ask, the more you will understand the material. He really loves what he does. He is a cool teacher.
His exam questions are directly from the text, though he loves adding more stuff in the lecture. He gives extra credits for answering questions in class in case you don't do perfectly in exams. Overall, as long as you are able and willing to study and comprehend the text, a 4.0 is almost guaranteed! Highly recommended!
Carsh is a fantastic teacher. I really enjoy his class and time flies. However, his tests are HELLA hard! Average is 85 questions per chapter and you better understand the subject. He encourages questions. So, it's your fault if you aren't pulling the grade. Don't take this class if you don't like to read, or attend. Good, but, HARD TESTS!
This teacher teaches VERY good and reaLLy you Learn the information. The onLy probLem is that his tests are compLeteLy from the book text and you seriousLy got to Learn that stuff inside out! He is an awesome teacher, you need to be sure to seriousLy study every day for about 2 hours to get a good grade in his cLass
Best prof at GRCC, bar none! I'm in grad school now, but just found this and had to rate him. One of the best two profs I've had at any level. Lectures are incredibly information dense, but still have ringing clarity. He is a veritable encyclopedia of psychological information across disciplines. Opportunity to learn a TON! Great prof, great mentor
Carsh is a great prof. He really wants his students to learn. This is not a class for those who want an easy class. You really have to study and understand the material. Your grade is mainly based on tests. If you listen, take good notes in class and read the book his tests aren't bad. He makes psych interesting.
Great teacher, pationate, interesting, he definately knows what he is talking about. Do the readings and come to class for the lectures and you will do great. A bonus is that if you speak up in class with a really great comment you get extra credit points, also on the study day he went over what's on the final. Loved the class!
Excellent personality. Heavy self reading to get A, if you're natives, no problem, take him, international, no problem, take him, nice guy, seriously, if you want to happy experience in psych, you need him, no doubt
Carsh is probably the best teacher I've ever had. His lectures are fascinating and he involves the whole class in them. It's an extremely hard class though and you have to be be committed but as long as you show up and do the reading you will learn a lot. A very intelligent, helpful, and passionate teacher.
Love him. I took his Psych 100. I had no idea about psychology when I first walked into the class. After taking him, I was thinking of changing my major to Psychology. He shows an extreme interest in the subject. About grading, tests are little hard, but as long as you read the chapter 2-3 times, you're through. I got 4.0!
He's an okay teacher. He thinks he's amazing and calls everyone baby, which is weird. I learned from him but he forgot to pick up my final from the testing center and so he gave me a 0 for the class. It took alot of time and effort to get him to pick it up. AND if you are a quiet person and dont shout during class, expect a low grade...
I did really well, but you must dedicate time to make sense of the notes. We covered genetics, nervous system, cells, stuff I have used in every class since then. lots of notes, most of the questions are from the lecture, but there are usually a few that you better read the book for. Be prepared to answer questions in class for extra points.
Best professor, no doubt, period.I've only took a couple of his classes, but all of them were amazing!A very fast-paced class,a lot of reading, abnormal pscyh was a tougher one but classes surely leaves me super impressions.I'm not sure if you'll be able to find a mentor and professor like Mr.Wilturner. Do get into his classes & open your mind up :)
good teacher
Best teacher I've ever had.
I am in his class now and he is a great teacher! I love attending his class because his lectures are so interesting. Yes its hard, but so worth it! Take him if you get a chance he definitely knows what hes doing!
One of the best professors I have ever had. He takes some very hard to learn material and covers it thoroughly. If you show up for class, work hard, and study, you will get good grades. He expects you to work your butt off, and in return you will get a great education. He is also interesting and funny, never a dull moment in his class!
Great teacher.
Dr. Wilturner is an awesome teacher. People say that his class is hard, but you wont have a problem as long as you show up to class and spend about an hour or so a night studying. Dr. Wilturner is absolutely the best teacher I have ever had.
Best teacher i've ever had. He's extremely friendly and knows most of his class by name.
Best teacher you will ever have at Green River, and probably anywhere for that matter. You will learn a ton whether you study or not. People claim it is hard, but it is presented in such an efficient way that you can't help but succeed. You will not get bored and will be on your toes the whole time. Don't be shy, ask questions, and participate.
Wilturner is the worst teacher I have ever had. He is not only demanding like no other instructor I came across but he litterally thinks he is the best no doubt. I took him passed with a low A and I had to work my butt off in that class! 3 hours of studying a night! hE IS unorganized. Does not give you an outline or anything! all you learn is to ta
Carsh is pretty amazing. He teaches with a University style, but you get the benefit of a small class size. He's very helpful, but you have to actually speak up if you get lost or you will fall behind. I found the class very easy because he was so passionate and its my major, but I worked harder in this class than any other I have ever taken.
Excellent teacher! His tests are straightforward multiple choice format with the info mainly taken directly from the textbook. His classroom lectures often drift off-topic, but he eventually returns to the original point, and in the meantime, you learn much practical real world knowledge and how psychology applies to it. He gives bonus points for class interaction. I'll definitely be taking my next Psych class with him.
Great instructor! Knows how to keep things interesting while teaching. ASK QUESTIONS. ASK QUESTIONS. ASK QUESTIONS. Did I mention me gives extra credit for asking and answering questions?
Cars is an amazing instructor. I go to a university now, and I still think he's been my best psychology teacher, even though I've taken many more classes after his. As long as you take good notes, as questions, pay attention in class, you'll do great. I loved his class, 4.0 no problem if you care enough to attend class. :) :) :)
I've taken several Psych classes on campus and this was by far the hardest! If you are good at science you should do okay, but if you have trouble this class is going to be challenging. You have to speak up (as always in his classes). Excellent teacher. He wants you to learn, but he makes you work for it!
Carsh is a great instructor. He keeps you interested th entie time. He tells it like it is and if the truth hurt then don't take his class. You have to take good notes as well as read the chapters. If you have questions you really need to speak up. Carsh is a tuff love kind of instructor. He wants you to learn and he gives you the tools.
Carsh Wilturner is amazing! He is a fascinating lecturer, really interesting and hilarious at the same time. There are a lot of tests, but if you pay attention in class you'll do fine. He also gives out a ton of extra credit for answering questions in class. Great guy, I would really recommend his class.
Carsh does not move on until everyone uderstands the material. He believes in positive reinforcements so the harder you try the better off you'll be. And he is willing to help any students as long as you ask and are willing to learn.
I absolutely love Carsh! I've taken every psych class he has to teach. Hes tough but not impossible, read the book and you will do fine your grade is entirely based on tests! The only lecture class i would willingly take, hes amazing i wish he taught more classes!
Has his favorites and makes it known. They are the ones who will get extra credit even if you answer first. If he doesn't like you (I still can't figure out what I did), you don't exist even if your hand is raised. Impossible to keep up on taking notes, buy a recorder. Won't take again and don't recommend him. Sit near in front if you do take him.
I love his class! I would have taken more if I had time. He covers everything you need to know for tests, so if you take notes you're fine. Coming to class isn't "required" but you don't want to miss anything. He lets you ask questions at the beginning of every class so speak up and he'll figure things out with you. Great guy, great class!
As a psych major at WSU, I've taken psych at the 300 and 400 levels, and those classes basically just rehash what you will learn in this class. Take him. It's the Rolls Royce of any class you will take at GR. You will learn this info in any 100 level class, but the difference here is you have Carsh. Best teacher I've ever had.
I don't even major in psychology , but he is just so much fun! He makes me like learning about psychology. He gives TONS of bonus points too. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you don't attend then you won't get bonus points. With each test worth 100 points, I had more than 70 bonus points in the quarter! So I technically got 4.0+ He's a lot of fun
Highly recommend Carsh if you are going to take a psych class here.
Carsh is the best teacher for Psychology at GRCC. Take his class!
The best psych instructor in the school hands down! Personality psych was absolutely fascinating!
Best teacher I have ever had. Nicest guy! Incredibly understanding and approachable. If you just study directly from the book you should do just fine! :)
The online resources helped me a lot for tests. Carsh is awesome, and makes you want to change your major to psych. You will be applying what you learned in his class to everyday life. A class you actually USE, who woulda thought? Take his class! Take a voice recorder if you dont write fast (used my laptop for notes), pay attention, ASK QUESTIONS!!
Carsh was by far my favorite teacher at GRCC. TAKE his class!! Lots of note taking, everyday and one test per week. Study every night.
Survey of Psychology 100...took this class a while ago. His instruction and methodology still stick with me. One of the most challenging courses I've ever taken, even more tough than 400 level coursework at UW. Extremely rewarding if you stay with it the whole quarter. You will not be disappointed. A well deserved "A+". PS -- ask about the finger.
Carsh is an amazing teacher and one of the favorites I have ever had. I will carry what I learned in that class through my whole life, and I feel like I learned so much from just an intro psych class. I will really miss going! He is good at making everyone interested and motivated to learn.
One of my fav. teachers at the school. The tests are hard as hell, but it is all worth it. If you ask for help he will go out of his way. Ask lots of questions!!! My grade went up so much for in class participation! Study, study, study, you really do need to do the readings for this class. I still remember and use what he taught us, well worth it.
In your first day of class look left and right cause by mid qtr you will not see some of them. If you want an easy class this isn't it. If you want to learn take this class. One of my better instructor. Have a recorder with you if you are not good at taking short hand. All you need to know.
He is a nice guy, but depends on the text book too much, minimal lectures. In class activity reviewing what you read, meaning based on the students questions
I loved Carsh! He is THE BEST psychology professor at Green River. He may seem intimidating at first, but he just wants you to work hard. He really knows what he's talking about and he's great at clarifying and making sure you understand. Seriously, Carsh is the best of the best :)
Great, but fast lecturer. Gives lots of extra credit points if ask good Q's & know stuff. No HW, just read book. Tests in testing center & are usually 100 Q's long, always multiply choice, usually application, unlimited time. He's not always clear about when tests will be & made us take one on in-serivce day!
Fantastic teacher. You have to put in effort you have to! He's worth it! grades fairly and is not judgemental if you answer a question wrong but gives out extra credit to those who try hard!
I love psychology and had a really hard time in this class.Your grade is based entirely on tests, which are based on his extremely disorganized lectures.
you can learn a lot from him, and everything based on tests. yet you have opportunities to get extra credit if you like to talk in class or ask questions.
Amazing professor. I wish he taught all subjects so I could keep learning with this man.
hardest class I have ever taken in my life. Worked really hard for a 3.4! He is a great teacher, but this class changed my mind about majoring in psychology. It's 100% test grade with extra credit for answering questions. The people in the class thought they were geniuses which was was annoying.
His class is hard as hell. Tests have to be taken on your own time. Basically you have to be a know it all to get bonus points. Never had hw. He is a nice guy though.
This is such a hard class for intro. I had to study at least 4 hours a day. It is really hard to take notes in class because he talks so fast. Would not recommend anybody to take especially if you are trying to protect a grade.
Take good notes and read the chapters assigned and you will do fine. The only annoying thing about his class was the extra credit he handed out for comments. On bad days people saying stupid comments and asking pointless questions would take up 45 minutes of class leaving no time for lecture. Frustrating to the point I started skipping some days.
Great and enthusiastic teacher! You can't imagine how many new thing you would learn outside the textbook, after you headed out of the class. As long as you understand the context of the chapter, you are able to get straight A on his quizzes. Fully inspirational teacher I ever met! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Being a sport psychologist, his knowledge about Psychology is AMAZING, as I have to say! The class always fill with questions and interesting discussions which brought people more interested to come to the class. His weekly quizzes are set in the Testing Centre and you can stay there as long as you want to finish your quiz. This class is quite fun!
This class was challenging but I learned so much! Carsh is a very chill guy,& he really knows all his stuff. Only complaint is that all he does is lecture,& he talks fast! it is very useful to read the text book b4 class so you won't feel lost.He helps the class know what's on the test, & randomly gives extra credit to students who show up to class
Great teacher, hard class. Read the book, take notes, and show up for class since he gives extra credit sometimes just for coming- but also for answering or asking questions in class. test are in the testing center, and Carsh generally prepares you pretty well for them. just show up and try! Carsh is super laid back and he really knows his stuff
He is very helpful when a certain concept is confusing or hard to understand. He is willing to take a big chunk of time and make sure that you understand it. He also offers a lot of extra credit for people who participate a lot. He was a very good teacher but be prepared to do a lot of studying on your own since there is no homework.
BEST teacher I have ever had at GRCC. It was a LOT of work, but totally worth it. His teaching style is spot on and I wish I could take more of his classes!! Loved the teacher and loved the subject even though it was utterly difficult.
GREAT!!!
This is a class where attendance is mandatory. Its a lecture class, so dont miss a day! Grades are all based on test that you take in the testing center. He is very passionate about what he does and is always helpful. Sometimes he spends the whole class answering questions from students! Ask questions for extra credit points!
Absolutely incredible teacher. Knowledgable, helpful, intriguing, and passionate. You will get as much out of this class as you put into it. Do not take this class if you are looking for an easy grade. This is a class where you will walk away without a 4.0 but also with an absurd amount of knowledge. A must take for anyone passionate about learning
His class isn't as difficult as some say some. Just listen in class, take notes, ask questions, show up, and read the text. I got a 3.6. When studying focus on the big ideas he speaks of not little details. Final was pretty hard, but show up to class ALWAYS. Good luck.
I took this guy's class a couple years back, and I NEVER forgot what a great professor he was, and how interesting the class was. He's funny, engaging. He knows his stuff, and you can tell he likes the topic he's teaching. He just gives the course PERSONALITY! Because of him, I have a huge interest in behavioral neuroscience now.
Best teacher I have ever had in my years of schooling. I received a 4.0 in his general psych and took his 220 just cause he taught it. Everyone should teach like him
Be prepared to take a lot of notes. But this class is pretty straight forward. And he gives a lot of extra credit for in class participation.
If you want to get a 4.0, I'll tell you how. What you need is a phone or any device that can record audio. Everyday record his lecture with your phone and take notes in your own free time NOT DURING CLASS (he talks REALLY fast) Read the assign pages ahead and take notes. ONLY STUDY WITH YOUR LECTURE NOTES and go on quizlet to study terms.
Carsh is the BOMB-DOT-COM. Seriously. Super fun and really clear about exactly what he wanted. Some people think the tests are hard, but they're really not bad at all. Definitely one of my favorite professors ever. :D
Carsh is absolutely one of the best teachers at the school. He really knows his stuff and what he expects from students. Personality psych didn't requires much note taking as 100, just an FYI. He loves when you ask questions and have discussions so sometimes there was hardly any "straight lecturing". He also gave some really fantastic life advice.
Best professor ive ever had in any subject. Wont continue lecture until every student clearly understands.
all of his lectures were him talking and you taking notes, but shouldn't be hard if you attend everyday. awesome professor. kind and helpful. would definitely take him again!
best teacher I've ever had! I wish more teachers were like him, he obviously loves his job and makes you fall in love with psychology. grading system is pretty fair and helps you to participate more in class.
Go to class Every Day, take notes and pay attention, ask questions when you have them and answer his questions. It's a fascinating class but you really need to already be interested in the subject. It's honestly not that hard if you make sure you understand what he's saying. The most important part is that you go to learn, not to get a good grade.
People say he's really hard and you have to read. I never read but I payed very class attention to lectures and took crazy notes and never missed a day. Exams are tough if you don't study. Awesome teacher, very inspirational and gives lots of extra credit if you participate.
Hands down the best professor I have ever had. His lectures not only relate to the subject but to your life. He is tough but cares about his students and really rewards those who do good and participate. If you have the opportunity to take one of his classes and are willing to work then do it, you will not regret it.
Great teacher, tough class to take at 8 am. Fast lectures but will go over it again if you ask. Hardest multiple choice tests I've ever taken. Askanswer questions for extra credit points
Carsh is amazing. If you are going into psychology I would definitely take his classes. He is very detailed and willing to answer every question during class. Not a lot of homework in these classes other than heavy reading, especially in physiological psyc. The tests are super challenging but he gives you time to look over what you missed. GREAT!!!
He is a tough teacher, you MUST take notes from his lectures, but if you do the work and read the book, you will get a good grade. Participate in class for lots of chances for extra credit. Tests are difficult and usually on your own time in the testing center (not in class time). Great teacher, really knows his stuff, and makes it interesting.
He has awesome teaching skills with convincing facts and figures. Very hilarious and informal, and has a different approach to the system of learning. Gives a lot of extra credits, but you need to participate in class discussions. Other than psych, he explains stuff giving real life examples like baseball matches, recent news, movies, etc.
The first 2 weeks watch the class number DROP. He's very tough on a subject that is unambiguous but not trivial. However, he is fair, more than willing to help and wants to help those that have a good work ethic/attitude and participate. So if working hard for something is not a new concept for you, he is very good prof compared to most.
I've had Wilturner for Personality, along with General Psych, and Abnormal. He is without fail, the best teacher I've ever had. My Dad had him. He isn't easy, he expects his students to actually learn what he talks about. He talks about his practice. He is brilliant and anyone would love him as a teacher. I want to be a psychologist because of him.
great professor, enough said.
He tests you based off of what you know, not how good you are at writing or speaking. This really helped me bc my ADHD usually makes hw take longer which brings my grade down. Your grade is completely based off of tests, and as long as you do whatever you need to to understand the material and enjoy the class, you'll do a good job.
Carsh is a really great professor and individual. You can always here him loud and clear, his lectures are generally easy to follow, and his tests as he would like to say lack bias as they are long but all multiple choice. If you read your book you will understand the information. Very simple and straightforward teacher.
I really, really didn't like him. His personality was probably the main thing I got annoyed with. He was constantly "right" and he kept saying "we would know everything about everything" and "people would hate us after this class" because we would also know everything. But the other 90% of the class seemed to like him. I can only give my opinion...
Tries to scare you in the first class. Don't fall for his BS. Has a big ego but interesting answers to psychology related questions. No homework but very tricky, detailed, nit picky multiple choice exams every week. Read ALL the text he assigns. Anyone who asks questions during class gets extra credit so you are pressured to talk in class.
Psychology overall is a difficult subject and intimidating. The class is difficult to pass if you don't participate or show up for the lectures. I've never done well with classes like this but with an instructor like Carsh, it's way easier to understand the material. He has a whole slew of relatable examples, just don't be afraid to ask questions !
Carsh WIltuner is one of the best teachers you'll have during your college experience. He is a bit tough and, at first, the class is a bit intimidating, but it will pay off. If you work hard to attempt to understand the material instead of focusing on grades, you'll do good. I learned note taking and studying skills from him. Take this class!!
Carsh is one of the best teachers that I have ever had in all of my time in school. He is very helpful and answers any questions that you ask him. I've had him for 3 quarters now and am signed up for my final quarter with him. He is so good at teaching and interesting that I switched my major to Psychology just to take more of his classes!
He was definitely a funny guy and was easy to like. He expects you to read almost every night and encourages you to do better. He does lectures everday, and they are interesting surprisingly. I definitely recommend, but don't take it if you're looking for an easy class.
Carsh Wilturner is one of those people that I will remember for the rest of my life, who had such a huge impact on me. Not only is he an amazing professor, but overall a compassionate and beautiful person within. His lectures, (which are built from common factors) allow you to integrate those lessons into your own personal growth and self awareness
He is the best
At first, I really hated Carsh because he just wings his class lectures and there is no PowerPoint or anything. His tests come straight from the text book. Do the reading and know the terms and you will pass the class. He is really knowledgeable, so if you have any questions, he is quick to answer, but in my opinion, that took away from class time.
It seems like everyone likes this guy because he mentions how great he is nearly every class. He'll say you're special because you're taking his class and have knowledge people outside the room don't. Just regurgitates the textbook. Questionable God complex aside, he's a nice guy and very engaging if you approach him with a question.
He is one of the best teachers at Green River! He has SO much knowledge about society, and he will teach you things you never realized until taking his class! He has taught me so much, and my notebook from his class is like worth gold! Definitely keep the textbook because he teaches you things you will use for the rest of your life!
Awesomeness instructor! always inspire me to learn
best teacher at grcc hands down. great lectures that are very fun and informative. he's comparable to yoda In a way. very helpful and insightful. I would put his iq at around 145+ and puts it to great use. has done a lot in life and loves teaching kids. take this teacher if you want to learn!!
By far the best professor i have had at Green River! I wish i could take him for all my classes. Challenging but inspires you to learn and work hard for your grade. He uses lots of entertaining examples and ensures that students understand the material.
Dr. Wilturner is awesome! He gives exams every other week, but he makes sure you know what you'll be tested on. He's very fair and gives extra credit for speaking up in class. My only qualm is that he didn't give much advance warning prior to the exams. Since you only have one day to take it, it would be nice to know ahead of time.
Professor Wilturner is really great at explaining difficult concepts, and he makes sure you're adequately prepared for the exams. Most of the class period is spent answering questions based on the reading, which is really helpful, but it took up a lot of time. I spent $150 on a textbook only to use the first three chapters...
If you take this class: Attend class regularly, take notes, ask questions, and do the readings. Carsh may seem intimidating but is so awesome, and you will take away great information from him. There are long tests, but he makes sure to cover topics thoroughly. If you're still worried about your grade; ask lots of questions in class (extra credit)
If you've ever watched the movie Whiplash, then the person most comparable to Carsh is most undoubtedly Fletcher. If you want a good grade in his class, you're going to have to work for it. Like he says when you first walk in the door, you gotta give porsche money to ride a porsche. He has faith in his students though, and that's what I liked most.
He's a great teacher, his lectures are very important for the tests. He helps students, he says he doesn't mind repeating things multiple times as long as you get it. Definitely recommend his class.
Carsh is a great professor! He teaches from the textbook but adds a lot of additional information into his lectures, which is awesome! He is willing to help his students if they ask questions and read the textbook. I will definitely be taking another one of his classes! He adds a lot of personal examples to his lectures to make them interesting!
Carsh is an amazing teacher. Very casual in class, very easygoing, and always willing to discuss philosophical ideas relating to his class. Be warned, he likes to talk politics sometimes during lectures. Everything talked about in class is in the book, and everything on the tests is talked about in class. The only homework he gives is reading.
Makes us work for it but that's only because he cares a lot about his students and works hard himself to keep us engaged with the subject of psychology. You can't expect to get a 4.0 from him if you don't participate or do the readings. He expects you to read, engage, and participate at all times. He will make info clear if necessary so ask q's!
He is a very passionate teacher when it comes to teaching Psychology. He gives lots of extra credits if you will participate in class by giving out opinions or simply answering his questions. It will help you a lot if you will read the lessons before class. Tests are always multiple choices so if you studied well, you will pass this class.
Carsh's lectures made the material much clearer. Participation is not a grade but if you talk (ask a question or answer one) you will get extra credit. You have to study notes and the book for tests but if you do then there shouldn't be a problem. Attendance isn't graded but if you miss one day you will miss a lot of material.
He believes his students will go far and has so much knowledge. Professor Wilturner has his own practice and talks about his experiences with his clients. He talks politics and other social issues at times but talks about the psychological aspects of it. I will never forget what he taught me. Will take another class with him again.
Carsh is a great professor. He's very understanding and flexible when it comes to tests and any conflict that may arise. Pretty much the Oprah Winfrey of extra credit so long as you participate in lectures, which are always super relatable and captivating. He lectures along with the book, so make sure to read. Overall a really enjoyable class.
He was a pretty nice guy himself, but the class was all lectures and then a test every Tuesday, not even during his class time but on your own time. Grades were only based off of how you did on tests and nothing else.
Overall I loved the class content and found everything very interesting. I've never had a class like his where it is solely lectures so it was difficult to adjust to at the beginning. Lectures everyday, tests most tuesday in the testing center on your own time. He gives extra credit points to people who participate so it sucks if you're shy.
One of the most amazing professors I have ever had! Not only did I learn psyc 225 but he open my mind far beyond a short explanation. This professor, Carsh Wilturner is beyond a teacher he is a blessing to me.
Fantastic professor respected by all and sought out by psych majors. Great class and great lectures. He doesn't just sit down and talk at you for an hour, he engages you and talks with you. Hes the only psych teacher I'll choose.
He is a great teacher. To pass his test, read his note and study in the book. The test is mostly base on the infor in the textbook.
Definitely knows his stuff well. Grade is based completely on tests including the midterm and final. You will not do good on the tests if you don't study or read the book. He does hand out extra credit like candy so sit close to the front and ask/answer questions. There are people who rack up over 100 extra credit points at the end of the quarter.
Great teacher that knows his material from A to Z. Go to class, ask/answer questions and read textbook. For every question or answer hell give you extra credit. If you do not that good on your tests you can still have good grade at the end because of thy extra credits.
He is an amazing teacher. He gives out so many credits when you participate so if you are shy and don't want to talk loud go sit on the front table close to him as much as possible. He like when a student asks questions. His test is base on the book so buy it and study the heck out of it!!!
I LOVED THIS CLASS. Wilturner is one of the best teachers I've ever had. If he taught psych 200 classes I would have taken him again. He gives you EC just for asking questions. His lectures are awesome. He knows his field and is super nice and easy to talk to. HW is reading from the book and nothing else. Tests are once a week in the Testing Center
I like him and his lecture is amazing. He gives you points if you ask good questions. However, one thing I want to say is that his exam and his lecture is very hard. He doesn't write anything and he doesn't use powerpoint. I don't recommend his class for international students.
Carsh is the best prof I've had at GRCC. He is extremely knowledgeable in the subject of psychology, and he gives the best lectures EVER. His grading system is based solely off of tests, but if you study his lectures every night, it's difficult to not succeed on the tests. SIT UP FRONT; YOU WILL GET SO SO SO MANY EXTRA CREDIT POINTS!!!!!!!!!!
Make sure to never miss class. If you miss one day of class you will be behind. Make sure to read the assigned reading before lecture so you have a overview. His lectures are amazing and will have everything covered for the test. Make sure to study every night. I always reviewed what we covered in class every night. Best professor eveerrr!!!!
The tests every week are 70 questions. You spend one week on one chapter, and you need to know the chapter in and out to pass the test. He suggests to 'memorize' everything. You sit and listen to him talk the whole time which means you need to learn to write FAST. Hardly passed his class along with a ton of other kids in the class.
Overall the class is enjoyable to a certain extent, if the chapter that are assigned after class aren't read to a point you'll be completely lost during the lectures. He doesn't use power points or use the board at all, the class is mainly lectures and then an exam on each chapter throughout the quarter.
The class overall is interesting to get into and get wrapped around the lectures but unless you're more of a student or prefers power points or drawn out examples, this class will be extremely difficult. The textbook is used heavily throughout the quarter and exams are given every week after each chapter read.
He definitely makes you work for it. You need to study the book. Sit up front and ask questions and you get so many EC points. I got over 200 points back. lectures are usually spent answering questions. No PowerPoints so if youre a slow writer I recommend using VOICE RECORD!! on your phone to listen to later!! Super nice and motivational
This class taught me so much. The things you learn in his class will honestly change the way you think about so many things in life. I really recommend everyone to take it. However, keep in mind you have to read a lot and he gave us 100Q test each week but if you go to class and actually understand what he's talking about that's all you need.
Easiest A you will ever get. Trust me he is a hilarious teacher made a boring subject like psychology fun. As long as you read your book you will ace his tests. He loves questions, so ask away for extra credit.
BEST professor ever! The class was hard with tests every week, but he gave extra credit for participation in discussions and had amazing lectures! Would definitely recommend!!
Professor Wilturner is probably the most inspiring professor I have ever had. He made psychology easy to access and HE CARES about everyone in the class (as long as you care about the subject too). not only he taught psychology to me but also the ways to live a fruitful live. Thank you professor! I really hope I can take him again.
Professor Wilturner is very helpful and keeps you engaged in lectures. I took his class at 8 am and I still feel like I was able to pay attention and learned a lot (although, I wouldn't recommend taking an 8 am class). If you are really here to learn about psychology, I highly recommend.
I found his lectures extremely hard to follow. For me he wasn't a great fit. You would have to reread the chapters daily, and his lectures were mostly based off questions the students had. He doesn't use any powerpoints or visuals. I eventually dropped the class because I knew I would fail. I am surprised he has good ratings honestly.
Carsh is by far the best professor I have ever had!! He defintely knows what he is speaking about and makes the topic enjoyable and helps you understand the material and truly cares about his students. The lectures are very interactive and he does answering questions for extra credit! Amazing professor!
He will go over anything twice and if time doesn't permit he will meet with you and make time.
Takes reading the chapters slow, let's you have time to re-read for ch. tests. Lets you know what will be in tests from lectures, tells you what to study. Extra credit by asking sophisticated questions, study every night (I would say 3 or more hours) and you will pass every test. Best teacher for psyc, highly advise to take!!
He is one of the best teachers I've ever had! His whole class is just lectures but he makes them really interesting and fun and you learn a lot from them. Your grade is only based on tests, but he gives a lot of extra credit points if you even just ask a question or make a comment in class. He inspires and makes me want to be a good student as well
Carsh is a caring professor! But, we got through 2ish chapters this quarter & the book had 16. Wasn't really a fan of that. He dove deep into the few topics we discussed, which I liked. There's LOTS of extra credit opportunities! I recommend him if you want to listen to his crazy life stories, but not as a prereq to a higher level psych class.
I think for Intro to Psychology, the pressure should not be that much. But this class was stressful.
Professor makes sure you're getting high quality info like in Universities like UW, but at the same time explains and makes sure you understand. Constantly on point. Incredibly smart man.
This class is your typical "test on textbook" class. 95% of the time, all content on tests are from the book. The other 5% is from lectures, but he directly states that that item will be on the test so you know what to expect. The only homework there is is to ensure that you read your textbook. TLDR, make sure you read and listen to lectures.
I took his class during the online modality the lectures are mandatory to understand the material. No homework although test when the chapter ends the tests are okay if you study and are following lectures.
It is really difficult to keep up with his lectures. Its time consuming and a lot of notes. You do have to make time to study and understand the material. I took this class online, textbooks are required. Hes really smart and knows what hes teaching however it is sometimes hard to understand everything so refer back to textbook when you need.
He is such a great professor! Everyday I look forward to his lectures because they are very interesting to me. There are no assignments, only lectures and tests so if you want to pass you must study and read the textbooks a lot as grades are just solely on tests. If you skip a lecture, you will miss a lot but overall, a great class and professor!
Without the doubt, best and most professional teacher I ever had. He is very responsible and doesn't want to make it all about grades but, information and inspiration. Psychology was mindblowing with his lectures. If you read and watch lectures tests will feel like fun trivias.
He is a good teacher although he only teaches through lectures. I had him for an online class due to covid so I don't know what he's like in the classroom, his lectures are interesting. I wish that the tests we took were not the only things we had that were graded. I am not the best test taker so I had hoped we had other assignments to balance it.
A bit more difficult online, but all you really need to do is watch the lectures and study like he says to do and youll get a good grade.
His lectures were amazing. As an intro to psych course, his teaching really had me interested. The exams were challenging, but it really helps to study the content bit by bit instead of cramming.
If you're not majoring in psych don't take him. He's a former UW professor so he makes the class more difficult. There's now way to improve your grade because its only exams. Lectures are long and its kinda hard to make out what he's saying watching at 2x speed. I was able to find some stuff on quizlet but don't count on it
Don't listen to lazy people saying his lectures are long and hard to understand. If you're unmotivated and watch lectures at 2x speed just to get over it, then yeah, you won't get a good grade. Otherwise, he'll blow ur mind with his amazing lectures, and readings. So just study, its fun and tests will feel super easy.
Carsh is just overall a real gem. Lectures are heavy but you get a lot from them. Although attendance isn't mandatory, I highly suggest you attend his class every day because he goes into the material real deep. He gives students the opportunity to ask questions, which you don't really get in university psych classes.
Carsh is an okay teacher. He doesn't do PowerPoints so it takes much longer to take notes because it's all talking. He gives enough time to study. It's kinda hard to get an A because you need a 98 in the class. It's all exams. If you are someone busy take him, all you have to do for this class is watch a lecture daily. It's not that time consuming
Carsh is hands down the best teacher I've ever had. Yes, all his classes are test-only and it's very reading heavy. But stay engaged and talk to him and you'll get an A no problem. I've never met a more knowledgeable or more compassionate teacher. Kinda wish I could retake all his classes again.
Everyone says he's the best teacher but I'd say otherwise. He's always contradicting the textbook so I don't know what to read. He puts very small details from his lectures that he mention very quickly. Idk how people get an A because you can only miss 1 point on every exam for a 4.0 I would stay away from this class if you want an easy A class
Only lectures & tests. 4.0 chasers, beware! You can basically miss one question per exam. No extra credit available, however he made 1-2 of the exams really long time limit to get grade up. Lectures kept my interest. Take lots of notes and listen to his test preps. Any behavioral neurosci class is going to be HARD. Bad: HIS GRADING SCALE 98+ 4.0
I don't know about his face-to-face class, but online class was horrible. I'm guessing that all the good rates came because his class is different in the face to face class? No matter how hard I study my grades kept on going down. He gives no extra credit, no homework like how are we supposed to balance our grades? DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!
The class is all lectures and readings. The only grade you get is from tests. The questions on the test seem very random and confusing at times. Give a "study guide" for tests but it only has a quarter of the questions that will be on the test. Only take this class if you are good with tests.
You learn a lot but since there are no assignments other than tests, getting a 4.0 is challenging. His lectures are very informative, organized, and super easy to understand. Still, if you miss a couple of questions on the extensive tests he gives, you're stuck with a B or lower even though you know the content of the class overall.
Prof. Wilturner was an overall okay professor. One hour long lectures daily with an intense amount of info but provided in an organized way. No homework, JUST TESTS! Dont get used to a specific test schedule, I got used to tests every 2 weeks and ended up missing a test, further resulting in a D for my final grade.
Carsh is a fantastic professor! Highly passionate about his role at GRCC, giving heavy lectures, but making sure to give all the examples so students understand. Take notes and pick his brain if you want the best examples and a few laughs! I enjoyed my time in his class. To succeed in this class, you'll need to put in the effort.
Tests only; open book and gives "test prep" so you know exactly what's on each test. Unpredictable test schedule, but he did give the class a say in when we want to take it. 3-5 lectures a week. Each 20-60mins. I wished there were more ways to engage with the material but he gives outside examples to remember the concepts! Hard to reach via email.
Lots of lectures but are useful when following along with the textbook. Take lots of notes, there's not many tests in the class so every point counts. Test schedules are unpredictable. Overall a good class, but it might be more difficult for those that want an A.
If you thrive on structure and clear expectations this class is not for you! Four weeks in and we don't know the date of our first exam. There is no syllabus or info how grades are calculated. While some may find the professor's knowledge and experience to be exceptional, for me it's cancelled out by the disorganization. Dropped like a hot potato!
Carsh is behind on the tech n will not post a syllabus so times for tests will be confusing. However, he makes up for it with amazing lectures, n in-depth knowledge. If you want a real college psych class with no hand holding this is it. LISTEN CLOSELY. Take notes!! Ask questions, he may give extra credit. Pick his brain he is really knowledgable!
