I've taken his geometry too. He's friendly and personable, nice guy overall. Makes an effort to relate math to real life, doesn't go too fast. Tests are fair, include extra credit problems, and notecard allowed. Always requires some group work, projects.

FINALLY! Someone I can understand Stats with. I dropped Stats (rather than failing) with two other professors before I finally found Messer and aced the class. I'll never take another math class again, but if I had to, he'd likely be the teacher for me!

Easy A. He is straight forward. He will take the time explaining everything. He has silly rules like requires you to use engeneering paper or computer paper and fold it in half, answer questions in full, but overall it was a super easy class.

For anyone who is thinking about Independent Math: It doesnt matter what teacher you sign up for. You can go to the lab any time of day once you complete the orientation. You only have to go to the lab to test. You get 3 chances on each test except the final. Most work is on computer. Tests are paper. You need to study every day to succeed

Awesome teacher. Class is very onganized. Has worksheets every class, which are basically problems on the exam. Not a lot of homework, and he pick out problems that are only useful. Quizes once in a while, about 10 a semester. Very easy if you are caught up with his schedule. Very helpful, and very clear when explaining material. Great teacher!

He is great! Very funny and kind. He's enthusiastic and makes you feel comfortable in asking questions. He's very good at explaining the material and doesn't overload you with homework. He's very approachable and will work with you until you get it. This is a hard class though because it's listed as 3 units and should really be 4-5 units.

He is one of the best "teachers" I have ever had. Makes every thing super clear even in a hard subject. Trig requires a lot of work but I imagine that would be the case with any teacher. He makes grading fair but most points are on the tests so you have to actually learn to get "A"s. But remember he makes it easy to learn if you do the work.

One of the greatest teachers what I ever seen. He is very clear and helpful. Never seen him in a bad mood. HW with MathLab - he explains how to do it in a best way. Wanted to get Statistic with him, but unforunately he won`t teach Stat next semester. I would recommend him if you need a good GPA.

He is very helpful and the program mymathlab is a great study tool and he always gives great study guides for the test which helps alot and I got my first A of my life, for math at least in his class.

I HATE math, but somehow he made it fun & easy! He gives out handouts which are helpful, goes over the math in class, then has our h/w on MML. He's VERY fair and easy going, I HIGHLY recommend him. Even to those who hate math, like me, will enjoy taking math with Messer! He is also easy going with grading, just do the work!!

Professor Messer made the difference between me receiving an "F" in the prior semester, to getting an "A+" in the same exact class!! He made everything fall into place so gracefully. Very good and straight-forward teacher. Presents the topics in a well planned outline. The practice tests he posts are VERY much like the tests so use them. Very good review and sample for the final. Grades based on 5 tests and a cumulative final. Warning: makes you answers problems out loud in class for those of you that hate that.

This professor is incredible, i am priviledged to have him as a teacher. Litterally he is clear in all lectures and finds ways to make it easier for his students. If you need help in math he is AMAZING! I've never had an A in math before Prof. Messer. He takes the time to explain concepts, answers all questions, and helps make the math simpler in any way he can. He genuinely cares about his student's success. There are pop quizzes every other chapter, and at least a page of xtra credit on each exam.

Mr. Messer is an awesome professor; he is really easy to communicate with. Mr. Messer made my least favorite subject bearable because he didn't get frustrated when I had a hard time understanding something. One of the best math professors ever ! He dedicates a lot of time to make sure you understand the material. He is open to questions. His lectures are very helpful. He goes out of his way to make sure as many students as possible pass. All he requires is that you show up! I took his hybrid class meeting only once a week.

Hes very nice and explains sections very clearly. However, whenever I went to his office hours I felt he was busy and I was bothering him. Other than that everything was alright. Tests were out of 75 points but overall fair and he gives practice exams on MML before the exam. Practice those and youll be fine.

Took him for math372 and he exceeded my expectations. Really wish I can take him again because he is one of the most thorough teachers I've come across so far. Used online mathlab which cost money but I didn't mind at all. Super fast at grading and is very organized which is always appreciated

I take him for math time and time again and specifically adjust my time according to him so i can take his classes. amazing teacher, very caring and understanding and motivates you to keep pushing.

I took the hybrid class. C.R. does online office hours to watch him work out problems on the handouts. Most other homework is online and is very easy to stay organized, he gives a weekly checklist. You have to try to get a bad grade in this class. He reopens all online homework assignments at the end of the semester to let you get a higher grade.

Amazing professor! Well organized, very clear, examples in class are pertinent to both the homework and to the tests and quizzes. Has time to answer questions at the beginning of class. He only had one lecture that he didn't quite finish so he pushed the homework date. Attendance is very important if you want to pass, there are pop quizzes.

Professor Messer is there to help every student that needs help. I took a hybrid class, and we had a ton of homework. Once you do the homework and understand the material, you have a great chance to get an A in the class.

Prof. Messer is the best! He makes math easy to understand. He's very organized and even though we have a lot of homework(which I think is normal for a hybrid class), it is doable because it's super easy and straight outta lectures. There's some unannounced quizzes though but you'll do great as long as you understand the lesson.

He does a pop quiz after every chapter then exam for every 2 chapters. You have to do homework almost every night. He gives couple extra credit on tests but he doesnt do additional work for extra credit. A final is a final. As he said. But he is a very good one at teaching.

The homework is done through MyMathLab and his canvas updates made it near impossible to fail. If he's open, take his class. There's a reason his class fills up fast.

CR Messer will help you pass. His teaching is well and clear. There is no way you can fail this class unless you truly don't understand the material. Even then, he offers plenty of help. I actually enjoyed math because of him.

CR Messer was amazing this semester. Very clear and easy to meet deadlines for online work. All the work goes into one site so it isn't confusing. Only one discussion post a week. Test are challenging but not impossible.

Lots of homework and lots of time spent on this class. I'm good at math but I'm 44 and took basic Algebra at 15 years of age. He explains VERY well and really helps you understand. Homework and quiz heavy, but a very communicative, friendly, fair professor who actively engaged with the class. Graded things very quickly. Offered lots of extra credit & dropped low grades. Had easy to understand lectures. Math was very scary until I got in his class. You will pass if you are consistent and study - he threw no curveballs.

C.R Messer is an amazing professor!! I thought I was going to have a hard time in this class but he made it easy with all his lecture videos (straight to the point!). HW was through MyLab and Mastering. He offers EX credit along with a math tutor. I would recommend this professor!

(Math 333) Professor Messer is knowledgeable and caring. All the homework and the tests are on MyMathlab, you only have to attend once a week to finish homework and use the time to ask questions. There's a lot of homework so get ready to put effort into that. The final was a breeze since he gave us a sample final that is so similar to the final.

Everything we did was on Mymathlab , he gives alot of H.W and we did 98% of the work . He provides videos for us to watch and send question papers so that we can print them and solve them while we watch his videos. As he provides his answers in the videos. He held office hours weekly. P.s Makenzie is a great assistant of his!! She's amazing :)

MATH333/33S. Everything was done online on MyMathLab which you need to purchase. The workbook is checked every few weeks on zoom. Zoom is just HW time and an opportunity to ask Prof any Q's you may have. This class was very HW heavy, but easy to digest for sure. Professor Messer has a weekly due dates to keep you on track as well. Very nice guy :)

He was not my favorite math professor ever but he was definitely not the worst. Personally, it felt like he pushed to see a tutor before reaching out to him which I wasn't partial to. However, the class was easy and he gives partial credit on lots of things. He does want his students to succeed and he's helpful with random questions. Cool guy!

A highly skilled instructor. His video lectures are well-thought, short, clear, precise, easy to follow, and relevant. Hand outs are useful, organized, companion perfectly to his lessons. MML homework is well-chosen and relevant to his lectures. He can seem tough. But gives you everything you need to succeed. And stays active & available.

When it comes to Messer, he has amazing lectures that can easily be followed and provide lots of handouts that can assist us. A reasonable amount of homework and he gives you so MANY opportunities to make up for the late homework. Lastly, STUDY for the exams.

Prof. Messer is my favorite professor in the Los Rios system so far. It's a bummer that he does not teach math courses higher than pre-calc anymore. I can't recommend him highly enough.

He is the best professor ever. I took math 333 support class with him and he is so nice and understanding he gives you the time you need I was 4 weeks late and he was so nice about and give me time to do everything I need to do. The class needs your time to sit down and do math problems so if you work 15-20 minutes a day you will be fine.

Taken for MATH373. Very strict to deadlines, but he even re-opened assignments at the end of semester (not guaranteed). He gives feedback on his hand written note requirement. Extremely fast grader. He had our final grades like the day they first started being due. He has great lecture videos and notes. I would recommend him.

Excellent math professor!!! Very kind and sincere!!! Prof. Messer has GREAT communication skills, and responds to emails very quickly. He is extremely ORGANIZED so you always know exactly what is due and when. Do your assignments on time and ask for help when needed, he will never make you feel like a knucklehead if you ask an obvious question.

A truly amazing professor. Not just good, but amazing. Obviously meticulous detail went into his teaching methods, lectures, and how students learn. Seems as passionate about teaching as math. If you put the time into watching his lectures, ask questions, and do the work - you will not only do well. You will also understand the material.

I took the math S33/333 linked course. There's lots of homeworks and 7 total exams although they are easy. Homework is through MyMathLab and you can do questions as many times as you need to get 100 percent. You get 3 attempts on exams, and only one attempt on final. 5% boost on final for completing all workbook pages. Highly recommend Prof Messer!

This class and professor Messer were overall enjoyable. It was difficult at times but there are plenty of opportunities to redeem yourself if you get behind. As long you complete the homework in full and do the practice quizzes you should do well on the exams that count toward majority of your grade. He also offers extra credit!

This professor wants you to do well. He sources/ creates his lectures (no Pearson slides), creates review assignments for exams, offers extra credit, and sometimes reopens old homework. He truly cares about teaching and helping students grasp the material. He puts time, effort, and thought into this course. If you do, too, you'll succeed.

Professor Messer's MATH373 class was challenging but rewarding. The lectures and materials were well-structured, and I found unstuck ai really helpful for test prep. Stay on top of the work and you'll do well in this course.

Messer is one of the best teachers I have taken at ARC. His online trig class was so good. Amazing lecture videos and very clear explanations to subjects. Really sets you up very well for exams. Messer has easily been my favorite instructor. Calculus 2 is going to be a hard course which explains the 3 but he explains the material thoroughly, simplifies hard topics, and handouts are extremely useful. Your grade is mainly made up from the 5 exams but each have extensive review and he even gives a sheet that shows what is on the test. GOAT

I took Math 401 in the spring and his lectures and handouts were always helpful I personally didn't need to take many notes. He is always willing to answer questions and does a great job simplifying complicated topics. Exams are a large portion of your grade but he made review assignments for students to study. homework was done online in MML.

Given that I had attempted Calculus 1 once before, my expectations were low, but Professor Messer's course material was divvied up in such a way that made learning a cinch (given that you had the time and patience to complete the homework on time). It's not so much that he, as a professor, was difficult, but that the subject itself is challenging.
