A good & humurous teacher, tests & quizes are somewhat difficult.
He refused to help me and forgets to teach.
After numerous attepts to receive help, he still refused to help me.
Hard to understand...grading system needs major overhaul...!
he is hardcore; quizzes easy but tests insanely hard; doesn't teach to his tests
do homework problems and remember them. dont ask stupid questions
very hard teacher, exam are hard and if need help...must talk with him
hard teacher, hard exam...studyguide not useful
Hard class, insane tests

he does not help with grades he gives the most difficult take home projects
worst tacher in the world! hard tests/desnt know what he wants! hate him :I
He is very good
not for students who do not have a clear understanding of this subject.

Couldn't understand him very well. He was extremely hard and doesn't give you good study guides. Basically you need to guess what might be on the exams.

He is a good teacher. Do not take his class if you want to be lazy.
Dr. Lee was very good at explaining the material. Because of him I passed the LS exam at SDSU on the first try. Doing the homework is very helpful even if it isn't graded.
Horable Man. He doesn't care about his students and if they fail. DON'T TAKE HIM!!!!!!
This is a great teacher! There were a lot of really stupid 17 year old boys constantly talking and making fun of him because he isn't confrontational enough to shut them up, but if you get past that he's awesome. I'm terrible at math, but I aced his class

He is an excellent teacher. I was TA for this class. I know he cares about students. The students who complain about him are just lazy. He even tell students what's going to be on the test.
Tough teacher. You will learn but his tests are impossible.
Making sure his students learn and understand come secondary to his ego's satisfaction! He thinks the harder his class is the smarter you believe he is. His tests are impossible, and he purposly throws curve ****. Work hard!!!!!!
Dr. Lee really knows math, but his personality is the worst in the college. He is very mean to students. But he is really good at math. Do you think you should take his class??
He is a terrible teacher and he disencorages studets to studey math. He believes that he is genius but he is not. He askes very difficulte questinons which even math professors can not solve them. He is the work professor I evere seen

Dr. Lee is an excellent instructor. Very clear explanations. However, his grading system is very harsh and somewhat unfair. If you take his class you will learn, and be ready to work your ass off. I recommend him if you really like challenges and math.
He does not explain the word problems clearly. In addition, he doesn't understand english dialect sometimes if you ask him to explain something.
i thought he was a very nice guy... had problems speaking english and told corny jokes but nice.... homework was easy and tests even easier... some word problems were confusing but he would go over it in class..
Professor Lee's Math 120 class is very easy. He is also a very nice guy and is willing to help you if you seek help. Anyone complaining about his 120 class is just lazy if they don't like his style. He allows you to miss 4 classes before saying anything.
Math 125 and 126,in my opinion aren't well developed courses. Dr. Lee did his best with the required subject matter, however this class is not for students. This class is for Teachers requiring assistance with the slower learners.Proper etiquette req.
This teacher Sux, he can't even speak english and he doesn't teach the material well. He is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. He is also disorganized and he doesn't even know what he is talking about.
If any complains about this teacher, they are not lazy. Mr. Lee don't even understand some of the questions you ask him. He goes fast through chapters. His word problems made no sense and he didn't either.
Grossmont does not offer adequate teachers for Math 125 and 126, but avoid taking Mr. Lee if possible. He is very unclear, a perfectionist, and will take off points for misspelled words and sloppy penmanship on exams. He puts way too much on his exams.
Any class where the homework is not required and there are study guides with sample test questions almost identical to the actual test is great. Mr. Lee knows his stuff and inspires new ways for students to learn and teach math.
gets frustrated very easily if you don't understand him right away- goes over material too fast

If there was any negative ratings i would select those but there aren't any. This guy is the worst teacher i've EVER had. He's class is next to impossible to pass. if you are a genius than you might have a chance to pass with a C but most of us aren't...
I don't see why everyone's down on Professor Lee. I HATE math and I don't hate his class. At first he comes off as a prick, but he's actually really funny and even though he has a PhD in Math, he understands that not everyone likes it. I would recommend his Math 120 class to anyone!
His teaching style is ok but his tests are really, really hard and he doesn't curve them or seem to mind that most of the class flunks them. Throws problems that you have never seen before on tests. Even if you study and do the homework it is almost impossible to get an A in his class.
extremely hard professor!! even though this professor doesn't require you to do the homework,he is very unclear, and goes through the assignment very assuming everybody know what he's talking about!! if you are registered is this class, please get out while you can,i did:)
Mr. Lee was one of the hardest teachers I have ever had.Everthing went straight over my head and no matter how hard you study his tests are crazy. On the other hand M Lee is really funny and the things we talked about in class were so random and funny.
NEVER take him!!!! Not open to questions. He lectures at you. There is no open dialog between teacher and student.
two words: power point. calculus is not the best subject to be taught via slide shows. i had no idea what was going on from the very beginning, but when i retook the class with a different teacher i got an A+ on the first test. if you're looking at lee for calc, proceed with caution.
Took him for Semester 3 calculus. I could see how he can be hard if you have him for easier math, however he is a great teacher, though very hard, and even if I do bad in the class due to the extremely hard tests I will leave it having learned more than in any other math class.
I found Dr. Lee to be very straightforward...you get out of the class what you put in. Yes, the course is difficult, but he just wants to make sure you are proficient enough to succeed in calculus. I would recommend him, but only to those who aren't afraid to work hard for their grade.
Lee is a very funny proffessor and his test questions come straight from the book. He doesn't collect homework and there are no projects due. You'll have fun just listening to him talk!
math isnt my favorite but lee makes it fun. he caries on about somethings but what teacher doesnt. it is a challenge for some of the problems but other than that i like his class
hes a nice guy and he help you with everything, just ask. he has a accent and is a little hard to understand sometimes but its not that bad. i hate math but he makes the course super easy. hes a great teacher
If you ever think that you'll get an A, forget it! If you know what revenge means, I think you are wrong. He likes to feel he's better than his students, for sure. Advise, if you want to suffer take this class ;)
such a hard class and not made any easier by hm
vERY FUNNY, BUT HARD TEACHER!!!!!!!!!!!!
Real nice guy, but a little hard to understand. His tests are challenging, but his way in giving grades is very fair. If your just shooting for a C, you'll most definitely get it!!!
Hard but fair, He'll help you with any problems you have, but you have to ask. Very enjoyable, I failed the first time, retook it with another teacher, then took two more classes with him because it was that good.
I know he isn't "popular" but if you are a REAL math student you can't help but love this guy. He has a terrific work ethic, prepares and explains thoroughly, is creative and makes the info more fun than it has any right to be. See his website for "Beach Project" photos. He is a TOUGH grader and expects precision, but he is fair. U will learn!
He's a good guy. He may seem a little difficult to understand at first since he has a strong asian accent, but you will get used to it. He tells stupid jokes or stories that wouldn't normally be funny, but when he tells them, they're hilarious. He prepares very well for class and goes over many much if the HW in class. Tests usually mirror the book
the class is very interesting, while he is teaching he makes it sound very easy and understood but wait till you see his exam........you can pee on your ....
nice guy or not, hejust shouldnt be teaching
if you want to get a good grade don't take him.
i laugh at this dude everytime i go to class.
I learned two things from this class. Firstly, that this is a calculus class. Secondly, that if Isaac Newton, the inventor of calculus, had taken this class, he would have got a "C". I am only partly sure about the first thing.
Cary Lee is a tough, but great teacher. He thoroughly covers all topics and gives tests on only a couple sections of the book at a time. You will probably struggle, because I have always been very good at math, and I barely pulled off a B. But you will learn a lot because he forces you to study on your own. Very entertaining/funny in class!
Weird guy, funny and nice though. This class wasn't that hard, but it was confusing because in some parts there is no way to solve a problem. You just guess untill you get it right.
Terrible Terrible Terrible! By far the worst teacher I have ever had!! To start with its a HARD class. Asked for his office hours and he answered by asking me my work schedule. When i told him-he told me those were his office hours. SO basically he couldnt help me. TRY YOUR HARDEST NOT TO TAKE HIM!!!
If you're looking for a helpful professor, Lee isn't your guy. You either do it his way or you are wrong -- even if you have the same answer as him. I didn't care for his sense of humor either, making fun of students who don't understand just isn't very funny. He dropped me for having strep throat.
Do not take this class with him unless you understand chinese. Take this class with Terrie Nichols over at Cuyamaca she speaks English.
Yea, this teacher is one of the worst teachers I have ever been taught by. He's not clear, he doesn't explain what he's doing, and not to mention he gives huge homework assignments due every week. UGH!!!
I couldnt figure out if his name was gary or cary. Can't understand a word he said. I was in his class for two weeks and dropped it. The work seemed easy, but i wasnt doing it HIS way and there for it was wrong.
WARNING: Do not take this teacher for MATH 245, he will make you stress out really hard for exams that you will never pass. I recommend not to take this class with Cary Lee, even if you're one of them hot shot students who passes all math classes with A's.
TERRIBLE! Thats all that needs to be said. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS unless you want to fail!! He is unhelpful..if you dont know something and u ask him for help he laughs at you because he says its "EASY".And not to mention his tests are impossible to pass. Yes impossible. I under estimated how terrible he was, so heres your warning..DONT TAKE HIM!!!!
It is a little hard to understand him...but I think its the math thats tricky. This class is trying to show you OTHER ways for solving problems rather than just the direct way of adding, subtracting, etc. etc. Most of this stuff is easy and it stresses you out because you can't solve it.
see a perosn knows that math is pose to be hard but not this hard... this guy goes off on tangents about the most random stuff that has not a thing to do with math... he is a terrible teacher if u wanna fail go on head and take this guy he is a anal on how u write ur work he is jus picky about stupid stuff its not a good class with him
doesnt care whether students learn material as long as he is "teaching" what he is required to. he doesnt give you partial credit for anything or give you a chance to make your grades better. whether you know material or not you wont pass his tests or his class
Avoid taking this class with this teacher if you can.
He is no help what so ever!
very smart guy. really knowledgeable on the subject. he just can't teach. if you don't like doing homework go ahead take him cause its not mandatory although he still assigns it. you'll probably fail or have a very low grade cause you won't understand him(and you won't do your homework). so if you're smart and likes doing homework go and take him.
When I first entered Lee's class there were 38 students. When I dropped after the last drop date there were 2 students left.I doubt either of them passed because we all had "F's" up to that point. No partial credit.Write it his way or its wrong even if it is the same exact answer! He said he doesn't care if he gets fired because he has tenure.
Dr. Cary Lee. Never Again. He's a great guy. He even has a cute little daughter that comes to the classes sometimes. BUT. He can't teach. He uses a projection of the textbook as his grounds for the lecture. Rarley works on the board. Difficult to understand. The scariest thing is that he's been doin this for years. Great guy, HORRIBLE TEACHER!!!!!!
Knows his stuff and expects you to know it too, so only the strong and strongest math students need apply. Strict grader (partial credit up to the mistake, none after). His super quiz/mini exam method did not work for me, I found out what I was doing wrong the only time it counted. Would not take his class again if I had an alternative.
The worst math teacher I have ever met. In the beginning of the semester the class was over packed. By midterms only 14 people were left. Only half of them even passed mid term. 4.0 students, including myself, dropped not because of the subject being hard, but because the professor did nothing except confuse everyone.
Cary said that in most of his classes he has to kind of be a jerk. but in my class he was awesome. he was funny and taught us trivial things.
doesnt thoroughly explain what hes teaching and having a strong accent doesnt make it any easier to understand. exams are hard hard hard, its his way or the highway. hes funny and nice but terrible math teacher. DONT take him!!!
His tests have nothing to do with what you learn in the chapter. You can barely understand what he says. Sometimes he is funny and lets you out a little bit early. He makes you feel stupid. Its hard to learn the material.
He's one of those professors who see an insanely tough problem, and, after barely solving it themselves, go "Wow, I should totally put it on the next test and see what they do about it", even if it's only tangential to the chapter. If you're just as anal, you could be fine. No one had an A in his class this semester prior to taking the final.
This is a hard class. Period. However, if you do your homework and pay attention in class, you can pull it off. PRINT the powerpoints! This was extremely helpful for me. Also, Use the study guides he posts on his website before you take a test. Give yourself a few days+ to do the guide. One day isn't enough. It is hard to get an "A".
This class was incredibly difficult. Out of 10 people who started, 4 passed. Professor Lee teaches basic theories and concepts through his lectures and then tests at a much higher level. If you must take him, do the homework. Also, the labs are the only thing that will save your grade - so make sure they are correct.
His classes are incredibly difficult, near impossible. He feels learning should be as difficult as it was for him in China. Well, I retook this class with another professor, gotten A's in all of my math and programming classes, just got a good job, and always look back on this class with laughter. He takes it too far.
This is the worst math teacher I have ever taken. He doesn't care about his students, and likes to make them feel stupid with his sarcasm. Stay away from this teacher, any other one would be better. Even a good student has a pretty high chance of failing his class.
He's a nice guy, but his grading is way too hard. Even if you make a simple error on a test, like putting a negative instead of a positive, he'll stop grading right there. And the partial credit he does give isnt proportional to the amount you got right on a question. it's pretty unfair. He will try to help you with homework though if you ask him.
Terrible...I talked to many fellow students and out of 15 only 1 got a C while most failed.
He's such a great teacher.. I loved his class.. Test are easy, homework is easy if you like math and your good at it, your definitely gonna like this class and it will be easy for you. The final test is based off your homework. Teacher is nice and helpful and funny!
worst teacher. can't understand his through accent, tries to be funny, makes you feel stupid if you have a simple question, don't even BUY the book- it's a waste of money because you don't need it.
Great teacher really nice guy come to class everyday!! it's the only way you'll know the stuff and he'll give you extra credit for it
WORST TEACHER EVER!!!! dont take his class!!! he is unclear, hard grading, tries to be funny fails every time. over 3/4 of my class failed. has favorites.
Mr. Lee is funny and very helpful. His lessons are clear and easy to follow but he's very strict about attendance. He also requires little hw so it's a great class if you don't have a lot of time and very easy to learn in.
WORSE TEACHER EVEERRRRR!!!!! i get straight A's and couldnt pass this class! he lectures you with powerpoint and goes off on long tangents. test are CRAZY hard and things we have never covered. SOOO mean to students and dose not want or is willing to help you! By far the worst teacher i have ever had. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!! HUGE WASTE OF TIME!!!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! worst class i have ever taken! its elementary math and he makes it impossible. his test have NOTHING to do with what we go over or his study guide. I saw his ratings and though if i tried hard it would be fine..but i was WRONG. He is not willing to help anyone. he hates his life and takes it out on his students. STAY AWAY!
Hardest teacher. His tests are impossible and have nothing to do with the material he teaches. Is miserable with his own life so he takes it out on his studens. No homework to turn in so it makes the tests that much more important. Even if you think you will work really hard so you can pass, YOU WON'T.Worst teacher. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
He has one take home test, one in class test, and he does almost all the questions on the homework in class. He was great, and the class was easy. I would take one of his classes again.
This class is plain just hard. But I loved Mr.Lee. He had great slide shows and tried to relate the problems to our everyday life. He is so funny and made coming to this class extremely fun. I never knew math could be so funny before a took Mr.Lee's class.
Prof. Lee is a very nice man, and I sometimes feel sorry for him. He tries so hard to tell jokes and make his class seem cheerful and not monotonous but its usually a massive fail. He goes extremely slow with new ideas, hoping everyone catches on. Very patient, sometimes hard to understand his accent. Good class! Don't buy the book.
Mr. Lee doesn't teach he tells you how things will be. It is a class to teach teachers how to be teachers and teach, however you must think his way. If you don't answer everything in his desired response you are going to FAIL!
I don't dislike him personally but he has a very bad habit of calling the class stupid if we have a question. Literally. He just told us that if we didn't understand the new concept he was teaching, that we should just drop out of college. He should be talked to about that. It's unprofessional and unnecessary, not to mention incredibly rude.
Mr. Lee was dope. Hes a great guy and makes little jokes that arent really funny but that makes it funny. Really good teacher. Just pay attention and youll be find. HW is hella easy and tests are multiple choice.
Teachers has favorites that is clear. Very hard to understand and extremely rude at times. Will not listen to reason and thinks he knows everything when he know close to nothing.
expects alot out of his sudents. which is fine, but he expects every little detail to be clean on hw/exams and will deduct points if not.
He's a good person, he cares for his students. But as a professor and in teaching, he's not so great. It's hard to understand him sometimes and work you do in class and in hw doesn't always follow what's going to be in the quizzes. He can talk too much at times and he tries too hard to relate to everyone which can sometimes get in the way of work.
Mr. Lee was a fun teacher. I felt sorry for him because the students in his class were very unresponsive and rude. He tried very hard to encourage participation. Alot of the students in this class were not interested in learning and just wanted to be hand fed the answers.
I loved him. I hate math and I'm terrible at it but I got my highest grade in his class this semester. He's funny, energetic, and a great teacher. I actually looked forward to going to his class.
When 6 out of 30 students PASS the first test, you know something is wrong with the class. While he is extremely knowledgeable in the area and very good at explaining concepts to the point where you think it's easy, his grading style is insane. He stops grading problems where the first mistake is made and usually doesn't give any partial credit.
This class is ridiculously easy. Students who fail have only themselves to blame- 2/3 of grade are homework and quizzes, which are usually the exact same problems anyways. Class is set up so that it is nearly impossible to fail. Tutors not very helpful for this course. This class is good for those who are not pursuing math-related majors (B.S.).
DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE TITLE OF THE CLASS AND THE TEACHER! Everything about the class is actually pretty easy straight forward concepts. He makes it more complicated than what it really is, he is SUPER!Anal and Enjoys not giving out A's on his exams. Such an ugly quality to have. :( Overall he isn't the worst I survived but he isn't the greatest.
Easy class. You even get +1 extra credit point if your work is neat. Pay attention during class, do the homework, and you really shouldn't fail. It's on you if you do. You turn in your hw packet when you take the test, so you have a week+ to finish. He also gives extra credit for perfect attendance. He's a nice guy, easy to talk to. Kinda corny.
bad teacher don`t take his class. he will teach math 245 discrete math next semester. someone should do something for this teacher. he is worst teacher in grossmont. he does not care students success. want them fail.
It is extremely difficult to keep up with this professor, because he rarely allows time for questions. I don't recommend this professor at all because if his extreme difficulty. He make the class difficult when it doesn't need to be. STAY AWAY!!!
This is probably the worst teacher to ever teach anywhere! I got my first W from this class. He always gets behind so he races through everything and doesn't care if we have questions. The tests and quizzes come from the sky and have absolutely nothing to do with the material "taught" in class. Do yourself a favor and stay far far away from him!!!!
Don't believe the other comments. Lee is one of the easiest teachers I have taken. As long as you study you will get an A in his class. I hate math and I passed with a A (98%) He gives out extra credit on every homework for writing neatly,on one of the tests, and he gives you 10pts extra credit for being in class everyday. So make sure you go!
Mr. Lee teaches this class very rudely. he informed the class that "I hate teaching this class because of all of the women that take it. they always try to get more then i want to give." he is a very smart mathematical teaches us as if we are as smart as him. when you do not get it he calls you out and it rude about it.
I regret taking this class. I got an A, but don't feel like I really learned any MATH. His 120 class is more of a puzzle solving class than a math class. I with I would have taken pre-algebra instead, and I hate math! It's easy to get an A because he offers extra credit on the homework if you keep your paper clean, but the tests are ridiculous.
stay away!!!!!!!!!!!the worst teacher at Grossmont
He is an awesome teacher and he is willing to answer any questions you may have he is also very funny if you have a class thats willing to bring the joker put in him. He might not speak perfect English but its better than most!! i enjoyed his class and recommend it for anyone thats NOT majoring in math!
No mandatory homework, grade all about tests which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Lee is actually kind of funny. He's like to get to know his students works out of the text a lot. Gives take home practice tests before each exam. Very social. Either moves very slow or very fast thorugh material.
Dr. Lee is a good man, and often times, funny. The only difficult part of his class is the useless textbook. Many of the homework questions aren't even covered, which can make certain test questions frustrating. He'll offer help, but tends to be reluctant to do so.
I thought he was a great teacher. His classes were pretty straight forward. The schedule was all in the sylibus, so nothing was a surprise. He was pretty funny, which makes the class more enjoyable. Most of the test problems were either taken straight out of the homework, or very similar with different numbers.
Prof. Lee tried really hard to be funny and wasn't. However he was a great professor. He tried his damnedest to help everyone who had a question and made everything crystal clear. He never ignored a student and never left a question unanswered. I didn't even bother buying the book, was much cheaper copying the pages I needed. Definitely recommend.
Mr. Lee is an awesome teacher!!!! The class is not very easy, but if you do the homework you will be fine.
Prof. Lee does an excellent job presenting the material to the class. He gives weekly homework assignments that are graded (the grades for homework are based on completeness) and there are scheduled quizzes and exams. he is a very hard grader, but I am thankful for his because it greatly prepared for the four-year school. I learned a great deal.
Good teacher, but you need to pay attention and take notes to pass Math 120. Not much extra credit and doesn't show grades until the end of the semester. The class seems to be simple, but it does get more complicated as it increases. Tutors aren't really effective. Attendance is important to not fall behind, there is not much outside help for HW.
He is incredibly smart, but he cant remember what it was like when everything didn't come so easily so skips a lot of steps assuming you know most of it. Does not give partial credit on tests, which makes the tests incredibly hard. The class is not impossible, but requires A LOT of studying. Ive had other teachers that were clearer in their lecture
Very difficult class, the homework is nearly impossible if you do not go to class and ask him to teach it. Must pay extra extra extra attention or you will fail every quiz. If you are not good at math, do not take this class. This class is fun and you learn a lot, but many tutors even struggle. Work on the homework because its harder than the quiz
Professor lee is very helpful he makes sure you understand his teaching will answer hommwork questions and any questons from the quiz after the quiz is over
he doesnt explain things well he goes off topic most of the time in class ...you have to pay close attention in class to pass the class
Only take this math 120 class if you choose to suffer. He is not considerate at all, and his tests are ridiculous. Highly do not recommend.
He puts together his own homework packets which many of the math tutors struggle to solve the problems in. He is inconsiderate and not understanding of students who struggle with math.He belittles his students with rude comments saying he cannot "hold our hands" though a problem. He doesn't provide a positive or encouraging learning environment.
I have never experienced a teacher who belittles his students as much as Cary Lee. He is extremely condescending and shows no concern for students learning outcome. Avoid this class at all cost.
Do not under any circumstance take this class! He does not teach whatsoever & expects students to do well on exams. Every semester only half of his class passes and I'm pretty sure the half that pass are the ones that are retaking the class. He is disrespectful to the students, does not care about teaching only about making the money.
he is the worse teacher i have ever had before. he does not know anything (he also barely spell and speak english well) about the material. he opens the book and read examples and answers from the book. avoid him as much as you can. very disappointing teacher.
The book was terrible and unhelpful for most things, but you 100% need it for homework. I used the hw, quizzes, and labs fro studying and got a B in the class. I also failed 1 test (along with more than half of the class). It s possibly to pass this class
Prof Lee is extremely condescending to his students. The subject matter is convoluted, confusing, and straight up sucks. (Too bad it's required for the Teaching Cred program) Do all the homework, read the book, and don't miss class. You'll have to guide teach yourself if you're uncomfortable being treated like you're stupid for asking a question.
You'll regret taking him for discrete or differentials or math to teach math. I've polled science and liberal arts majors alike. If you get the correct answer on a test and don't do it his way, it's wrong. He has an ego, if he makes an error that you find, don't tell him. Also, no partial credit on tests.
I did okay in his class, but it was rough. Pros: very lenient with the final grade adjustment. Cons: Everything else. No partial credit. No extra credit. No notes on exams. No dropped assignments. You will learn more watching tutorial clips on youtube. Frequently says to "read the textbook" since you'll run out of time during short lectures.
As a person, he seems alright; however, as a teacher, he's not. He is very difficult to understand during lectures; not just because he has a thick Chinese accent, but because he goes off on tangents not relevant to the material. Plus, he doesn't explain the material well enough to be understood and applied to homework or quizzesexams; not fair.
HORRIBLE professor. He talks about himself during his whole lecture. He belittles his student ALL the time. If you ask too many questions he will make a joke out of it and make you feel dumb. I do not understand why people like him teach.
Professor Lee is extremely smart and he's one of the only Professors at Grossmont with a Phd. He's a really sweet guy he even brought us donuts on the last day, and he's really funny. I could tell he cared about students but he definitely challenges us. Some stuff I did was beyond the level of my friend in math 103 n he doesn't give partial credit
He goes through the homework problems with you, so ask questions! He likes outgoing students! You won't need the book if you ask him to go over the homework questions that require the book. I thought he was sweet, he even brought candy for us multiple times! If you prefer more problem solving than equation work, this is the class for you
he is a good teacher
He is not really helpful. Don't expect to ask for your grade because he won't tell you.
Very easy class. He's not the clearest teacher when trying to explain complex ideas but homework, quizzes and tests are straight forward and even people who are horrible at math can pass this class. Homework is really easy. His overly happy attitude and corny jokes make the class fun.
does not explain things thoroughly and will teach you one thing and come quiz time he'll throw you a curveball that doesnt make sense.
Horrible teacher, on these statistics he has 41% success rate overall 23% in higher division classes (NOTE THE CLASSES WHERE NO ONE PASSED)! Here are his grading statistics (2005-2011, sheet1 is all his classes sheet2 is just upper division) goo(dot)gl/tWfJ8a & here's the Grossmont internal review that I took those from: goo(dot)gl/FdKVf4
Best math professor I've ever had. Great lectures and examples. Need to pay attention and do homework to pass!! Awesome class!
Lee is by far the best math teacher that I have had. He's organized and has lectures that supplement the textbook. I HIGHLY recommend him if you take your education seriously and are driven to learn. Take him, I can assure you that you'll leave the class mastering the material. FYI, he's the only math professor with a PhD in math. Go to his office!
He's pretty hard to understand for the most part because of his heavy accent. I took math 103 with him and he gave alotta homework, but didn't check it not once. The textbook isn't even necessary, but by the way he teaches, you better crack that sucker open and teach yourself. His tests are kinda hard, but if you do the homework you should be fine.
Hard to understand due to is heavy accent, I could probably teach myself the material better, I had to attend tutoring every week to be retaught the material. Very frustrating.
One of the rudest teachers I have had. DO NOT take his class unless you want to be struggling to understand his broken English all semester long. YIKES
I thought he was a sweet guy, but not a good professor. My entire class was struggling. He gave us homework packets everyday and never collected them; grade is only based on 7 exams. We would have an upcoming test and instead of focusing on that, he would move us onto the next chapter. Very frustrating, moved too fast, no extra credit opportunities
His class is a little frustrating, math problems he lectures on are not found on the homework or quizzes. Also when going to tutoring some of the tutors could not help. Regarding the quizzes, need more time to finish. He is the perfect example of teachers that only want to show others how smart they are instead of teaching.
If you take this class be ready to do a lot of learning on your own. He told us we needed a textbook at the beginning of the semester, but not once was it required. He'll remember your name if you skip class lol. He doesn't really go over power points, just straight into lecture since he expects you to know it already. Sometimes can be rude.
Prof Lee was great while I was in his course. His lectures can be a little confusing if you miss anything, but he is extremely informative. However, he is a tough grader. I would definitely recommend him though.
firstly this is not ordinary math so be prepared for math logic not equations, secondly, this class is hard because you wont know until the test comes, what his expectations r . he lacks showing you what he expects on a test. he doesnt do example homework problems making it hard to know if youre doing stuff right. hes too passiionate about discrete
Goes over everything for test. The test are exactly like the study guides he gives out.
HE IS SO FUNNY AND HE IS A GREAT TEACHER!!!!
He is an amazing teacher does not bore you with the lesson he gives u a packet for each lesson and no need to waste on the book. He alwas tries to make everything funny. I really enjoyed his class would def. retake him if he offered any other higher level math. There is no homework at all just study before the quizes thats all that counts.
I've never felt the need to write a review here but I felt obligated to warn others. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. He is friendly but lacks a communication aspect that good teaching requires, even for people who are math minded. Things are not clear and he does not elaborate well. I attempted to teach myself everything and failed.
The class is easy the first few weeks and it only gets harder. No extra credit given and one group and take home test.
Hes so mean to students. I personally felt targeted by him and the comments he made by my questions asked. Do not take him if your taking math 126. Take BETH SMITH.
This was the hardest math class i have taken at Grossmont. He is very nice but is a super harsh grader. Take the other teacher. There are lots of quizzes, homework and labs. The final study guide had nothing to do with the final and I did not even have time to finish the final.
This teacher is really nice and caring, but the class itself was very hard. It was all word problems and Im horrible at that. There was a lot of homework and he is a touch grader. However, he does help his students out a lot, but the class was tough
Cary tests you on everything in the book. The 1st weeks you have to read 4 sections & do the homework for every one of those sections every week. I suggest taking this class elsewhere because Lee is a very tough grader. His exams are harder than the homework questions. Has the worst office hours and is not clear what he expects from you on exams.
Must pay attention in class
He has a lot of classes, so dont expect him to change anything for one student. He does plenty of examples for the class. Every day in class you learn (at LEAST) one more section. Was too fast for me to keep up. Gave up asking questions because he couldnt explain so i could understand. Patient yet partonising. Had to seek ALOT of outside help.
There's no such thing as a dumb answer in class. Professor Lee is funny and willing to fully explain math problems. His grading, however, is the strictest I've had in all my classes. Understanding the concepts should matter more than the right answer but he is very particular about wording & specific way you write solutions-theres no partial credit
This professor is a very hard grader. He will definitely call you out if you miss class or if you've been absent. His grading and turning things in is very disorganized. Sometimes homework is due on time, sometimes the class is running behind, sometimes there's a quiz. Would recommend a different teacher.
Mr. Lee is nice and knows what he's doing but the class is really hard. He goes over the easy stuff for a while and then the hard topics he breezes through. He doesn't really do a good job at giving clarity when you're confused about something. If you suck at regular math definitely don't take this class.
He is by far the best math professor ever! Besides of being an excellent teacher as he explains everything detailed, he has an amazing life story that you can see his great heart!
He's the worst professor I've ever taken. He goes off topic too much and can barley explain material. when you ask questions he simply explains in a circle or ask the students to explain, which dosen't help much.
Mr. Lee was very organized and prepared, which was a huge relief during the COVID-19 chaos of Fall 2020. I personally thought it was pretty easy, but many people did struggle. Tests and quizzes were open notes, and you had two chances. If you go to class and do the homework, you'll pass easily.
he is a good man who means well but he doesn't explain things
Mr. Lee connects with his students and is always there to help no matter what for. He explains everything to his best abilities and if you don"t understand he will try to explain better. He gets through everything in a timely matter and loves to be apart of your life more than just in class. He is someone you can talk to about HW and life. 5 stars!
my lee is goated.
Professor Lee was a great instructor. Super funny and caring. Pretty laid back with homework and helps with answering questions to better understand before the quizzes and final.
Prof. Lee's statistics class was really good. It was easy to learn and he gave us more than enough time to learn the topics. Even though this was a summer course and the semester was shorter than usual, I didn't feel rushed and everything went smoothly.
Professor Lee is super nice. I totally recommend this teacher. He cares for his students and makes sure that we understand the material. He also takes time to get to know his students. I'm taking math 126 with him next semester. I wished he could have teach math 128.
Honestly, he is the sweetest and BEST professor anyone can have in general!! You guys won't regret taking him, he cares so much for his students and I am just thankful to be able to have had him for math.
I shouldve listened to the rating of this prof, stats itself is not difficult but he does not clearly teach and its up to you to teach yourself how to do things. If you dont buy the application he uses you will not be able to do tests or quizzes. Also waits to the last day to grade and barely replies to emails.
I really thought that this would be an easy class, but he makes things so difficult for his students. If you’re absent more than three times, he immediately drops you from the class. He assigns quizzes that contain material he’s never gone over, and has emailed students to “teach themselves” things that he forgets to go over.
He is a very funny are careing professer and helps with a lot of the home work
Professor is very nice and explains at a standard level which is good enough to learn from for those that are good at math. From what I have seen from my classmates, those that are not good at math do not do well in this class (around C Grade). He lets you take all quizzes and finals twice while being able to see what you got wrong on the firstone
I asked questions, but when I asked questions, he would get frustrated so easily, and it encourage the students to make fun of me. his office hours said Zoom meetings only. So it was hard to ask him for help. So when I asked another question, he said, if you keep asking or don't understand it, I shouldn't be in college".
He is very hands-on and tries to help students understand the material if they're struggling. You just have to be willing to put effort and ask questions. Attendance is mandatory but he gives us 2 breaks and tries to make it enjoyable. Also, he gives extra credit which helps.I recommend taking his class if you need math.
This was one of the few math classes that I enjoyed. He was very helpful when it came to needing help on class work and homework. I would definitely recommend choosing this professor if you want a easy math class.
His TA also takes long to grade assignments and is not clear on grading. Marks you down for unreasonable mistakes. He wants you to upload all assignments and homework by scanning and uploading on canvas. I had some issues with that and tried to turn it in person and he denied it because it wasn't online.
He made it easy to understand problems, he was always in a good mood, and he made the class enjoyable!
While Professor Lee as a person is very enjoyable to be around, I would definitely not want to have him as a professor. The pace of the course, as well as the workload given, made it extremely difficult to feel as if there was progress in actually learning about the course itself. Plus, he gives me the vibes that he is a Sky Striker player.
I had Professor Lee last semester and I can not recommend him enough! He talks you through problems and goes over previous homework questions and problems for the next assignment. He also tells you how you will be graded on quizzes etc! You will pass if you do your homework and have good attendance! If you need help I recommend his office hrs too!
Don't do it, exams are worth 46% of your grade, and the average score on exams for the class was 59/100. He is a charismatic guy and tries to make lectures fun but homework is entirely different than what shows up on exams and he does not teach the theory required to solve exam problems.
Awesome professor and very carrying
This was a fun class. It was fairly interesting for a Math class. Definitely recommend professor Lee.
Homework is done in class and is very helpful on quizzes and exams. There are fun extra credit opportunities.
Professor Lee is so nice! He is always available for help and is willing to give advice when you ask for it. He gives a decent amount of homework, quizzes, and tests, but not enough to be overbearing. As long as you show up, take notes, and do the homework you'll be good. He tries his best to be accommodating and engaging for everyone.
Lee helps a lot with homework problems and very clear due dates and grading. Multiple extra credit opportunities. Exams can be tedious, so going over the textbook and practicing outside of class is VERY encouraged.
Im not very good at math but professor Lee make it easy to understand, you can go to office hours he was very helpful, no havy homework, he work most of the homework in class exam were not hard do all your homework it help
Prof. Lee is very nice and always makes the class entertaining, plus he is very funny. He goes through the HW in class which is very helpful. Exams are a little on the hard side but if you attend class, have notes, and finish all the HW packages they can help while doing your tests. A lot of extra credit opportunities
This professor was one of the best I've ever had he was very inspirational for the class
Mainly taking useful notes and the class work is the HW which does help with practicing the solving methods, calculator inputs, reading, and error fixes
This professor is extremely experienced and very well read. He knew the material inside and out and could explain it in clear, understandable terms and doesn't go too fast. He actually cares about your progress as a student and is always willing to help. As a person he is very funny and sweet. I loved this teacher and definitely recommend him!
Cary is an amazing, caring, and charismatic professor. He helps students through many of the assignments required in class, and the tests reflect work done. The atmosphere in class is friendly and Cary knows how to make students laugh. Multiple extra credit opportunities. He loves participation. Would take this class over and over!
Attendance is mandatory! He is extremely nice and very helpful if you miss class.
Dr. Lee is an exceptional professor. He made jokes to keep the class awake and did at least half of the homework in class. He answers questions and he drops 2 quizzes. He also allows 2 attempts for quizzes, exams, etc. He cares about his students and enjoys teaching. Don't listen to these plentiful negative comments, take him!
Professor Lee makes math engaging and manageable. With clear explanations, ample practice, and helpful office hours, he supports student success. I found Unstuck AI great for study prep alongside the textbook.
I wish every teacher was like Cary he is willing to work around any work or class schedule you may have. He is more than willing to help with any questions you have on the assignments and gives clear instructions. The assignments are fun and understandable. He is also very charismatic and the class is never boring! Would take again!
Cary Lee is absolutely hilarious, but he can get off track often. He sort of makes learning harder than it needs to be and moves on quickly. He is a pretty easy grader, but attendance is mandatory to maintain a good grade. He is a great person, but he is just not my style of professor. He also uses Pearson which makes you pay to take his quizzes.
If you do the homework packets, you will be fine. If you take Math 160 with him, all of the exams, including the quizzes, are online. attendance is also important to maintain your overall grade. The guy is funny and nice. Take him for math. ESPECIALLY MATH-160!!!!!!!!!
He is a great math teachers at Grossmont. Makes something that is dry, entertaining. Crazy to see some of the low review given to him. he make sure you learn what he teaches by coping his work, lecture and very approachable. He leave you with very little homework to take home but makes sure you do it, do the work get good grades recommend to all !!
Professor Lee really cares about his teaching and gives multiple opportunities for extra credit. Very communicative and caring. all exams, tests, chapters are online and he's willing to be helpful in anyway. He is also interactive with his students.
His grading criteria is VERY clear and easy! He's funny and clearly cares for his students. He gets sidetracked bc he enjoys giving context on things that don't really matter, but explains the things that matter pretty good. Says textbook is mandatory but you don't need it for this course, however its helpful if you miss class or want homework help
Dr. Lee is very funny and clearly cares for his students and enjoys his job. He is understanding and shows kindness as well. He is brings light to a topic that can be boring!
Mr Lee is a really funny guy and I never dreaded going to his class. He is very personable and interesting to listen to. He is also just very sweet and a great teacher. Not sure why he has such a low rating he's awesome.
best profesor
i would recommend him
Funny, talkative, a character. Math is straightforward and it's clear he's perfected his lectures and homework. I liked it, I would recommend if you're an active student.
