Casey is amazing. Real cool guy that teaches better than 95% of math teachers I've had before. He would help me with problems right after class was out. I would've made an A but I didn't study for one exam and missed a lot of homework assignments.
Best Professor i ever had. He makes the lecture easy. Hilarious guy, would definitely suggest you taking him. Just focus on the lecture from class, do the homework and take the practice tests as many time as you could because it is sooo much similar to the exam. Easy A dont worry.
"Yay for school"!!! Highly recommended hes a great instructor, really funny and really caring. Will take again if available for CAL 1 or 2.
Amazing professor, his teaching methods are great as well as his overall demeanor. Would take all my Calculus courses with him if I could.
Professor Douglas was great! He did a great job at meeting with me when I had questions and he easy to talk to as well. There are multiple quizzes and one homework every week. Honestly the CASA system at uh is annoying and they assign so much but he did great answering all of our questions! He even gives reviews before the tests.
I have a full-time job that makes frequent travels, and I noticed that the first proctored exam fell on a date that I was going to be out of town. I sent SEVERAL emails asking for accommodation, with absolutely NO RESPONSE. Now I'm stuck with 50% of the tuition for a class I was never able to take.
He is kind of all over the place but fine. You use geogebra to do most of the math so its basically plugging in. Print notes before class and follow along and you should be fine. He gets sidetracked a lot so it gets kind of boring but the material is easy. Hmk and quizzes every week, test are okay - similar to practice tests. Poppers for attendance
The course is moderately difficult, mainly because there are a lot of quizzes and homework, but he's a dedicated and awesome teacher. He takes the time to thoroughly explain everything, which is amazing. I love this professor, I wish I could take him for all of my math classes!
I like him a lot
Really great. To be honst at first I didnt like him. I thought the class was going to be easy a like friends said and I did not like that I had to do more than a little work. But now I think I get it more and really like
Casey is a really great professor. Super understanding and caring. He tries his best to make sure his students know the material and makes math really easy. He shows his class to work smarter and not harder. If you are looking for a great professor who is clear and easy to understand take Casey! Negative reviews on him are mostly people who slacked
Best professor Ive ever had. Really hope he teaches Calculus in the spring. Highly recommend.
Fantastic. Highly recommend.
Lovely teacher, he tries to help you as much as he can with assignments and the office hours are very helpful. Hes just a bit unorganized and takes a while to respond to his emails.
Great teacher overall made class enjoyable and super easy.
Really caring and good teacher. Lots of homework.
You can tell Professor Douglas loves teaching and genuinely cares and understands his students. Pre-cal is not your easy A class so you will have to study a lot outside of class. Especially for the online quizzes and homework. He's probably your best choice for this class, take him!
Took him online. Fairly easy. He does online video lectures. Doesnt respond to emails quickly or at all! He does leaves lectures and notes on the website. Mainly word from word from textbook.
he makes the chapters so easy to understand! alot of quizzes and hw all on CASA but so easy. he does poppers every class for attendance and they are easy 100!! had to retake pre calc and def did so much better this round cause of him!
Took him for precal and it was a good choice. He jokes around a lot during his lectures which makes them easier to pay attention to. He is very understanding and upfront. Gives reviews very similar to the tests which helps a lot
Casey was definitely my favorite professor for my first semester at UH. Hes funny, easy going, and he likes to talk to his students. I really liked his teaching style and how he made things easier to understand. There are a lot of hws and quizzes because of casa but tests arent that bad because of his extra reviews. Would definitely recommend!!
Casey is the GOAT. This class is very easy if you don't have an A please consider dropping out. You are wasting your time and money. I heard McDonald's is hiring. or switch into liberal arts which is a useless degree by itself. Anyway, Casey is very good, I recommend.
I did well in this class because I took ap calc in hs. If I came into this class learning calc for the first time, the 2nd half of the class would be horrible. You get 20 chances for each quiz (15 quizzes). I would recommend this class if you already know some calc, but if you don't know any calc i'm not sure how good he is at teaching new material
Prof. Douglas is very patient and will thoroughly explain problems. His class has 4 exams(3 through CASA), a final that you can opt out of depending on your grade, quizzes that can be taken multiple times, homework, and poppers for class. Hes easy going and understanding. I would definitely recommend him !
Very funny, but the lectures do not always make sense. However, there probably isn't a teacher as easygoing and funny as him.
He is the worst ever. He tried to make the material and things make sense but he needs to know to just tell the formula and how to answer quizzes.
Casey is just amazing!! The first day of class he walked in and smiled at us and then get this he puts his baseball cap on backwards and THEN he takes a seat and turns it around and SITS. IN. IT. BACKWARDS. Thats when I knew he was the real deal, too legit to quit, you know? I learned not just about lines and reasoning but about life.
Though Professor Casey is a little unorganized, he was a good professor and tried his best. He couldn't do as much as he wanted to because CASA calls all the shots. I think if his class wasn't through CASA it'd be a lot better. His online lectures were clear and he wanted to make sure everyone who attended them understood.
This course is ran by CASA so the professor himself has little to no power over the grades, test and assignments. I kinda found myself confused a good amount of the time but his wonderful optimistic personality made up for it. His attendance is mandatory if you want to pass but his poppers are very very easy. Just go to launch for extra questions.
I learned so much in this class. I learned how to use CASA, how to schedule exams at CASA, how to submit homework on CASA, how to study for exams that took place in CASA centers, and how to get in touch with CASA people if there are problems. There was some math, too.
Took him online, was supposed to be an easy math credit, but turned into something else. Tons of hw/ quizzes, since the course is managed by casa, glitches happen and no extra credit. Material is not hard, but you have to really stay on top of it all as there is tons. Take him in person instead of online if you can, you might get a better grade!
class was very disorganized, lots of poppers and homework, just didn't seem to get many emails back from him
Careless professor who honestly doesnt care about the class. He shows up,teaches the bare minimum and then you are on your own. Weekly homework and quizzes which are harder than what you learn in class. Practice exams are exactly like the exams and can exempt the final. its pointless showing up to class, you can teach yourself better thru the notes
Great class. Great professor. Some of the other negative comments here are describing a completely different person. Casey was helpful, caring, and wanted to make the material make sense. Wish I could take again.
He cares so much for his students. Great person who loves his job. He always listens to his students. Would absolutely recommend him.
Professor Douglas is just an amazing professor, and his lectures are so easy to follow. He made this class very fun and enjoyable.
I'm horrible at math and made a B. I failed a test completely and was still able to exempt the final! Prof. Douglas is very cognizant that this class is a req. for business majors that just want to pass and move on. He makes it very easy to learn the formulas and skills you need for the test and gives helpful reviews.
Probably the most chill and kindhearted math professor you'll find at UH. Discrete math isn't the easiest subject but he does his best to simplify his lectures and provide as many examples as possible. Communication outside of class definitely isn't his strong suit, but he'll try his best to work with you to pass the class and get a good grade.
Without a doubt one of the best professors at UH. His lecture style is amazing and he made math fun. Honestly considering switching to a math major. Its a hard topic but he eased us into understanding naturally rather than memorizing random math formulas. Genuinely cared especially during COVID. Only downside slow communication. Instant must take.
Professor Douglas was amazing. He really teaches math well. He grades mostly based on homework. His lectures are great. He writes a lot of problems on the board and makes it easy to understand. He is slow at communication but is definitely a great teacher. Take him!
This course is so easy with the help of geogebra and Casey. He teaches slowly and clearly for people who suck at math so his lectures are amazing and he goes over everything that is on exams and hws. I recommend this course to anyone who needs an extra math credit because he makes calculus easy!! Even if you hate business, this class is so doable.
Casey is the real deal. I would without a doubt recommend him for any Math class. He has a casual teaching style and tries to not make Math super hardcore. I think even if you are not good at math, you would do alright in his class as long as you put in a little bit of effort. Take him if you want to learn maff!
Great professor however, don't expect to get in contact with him outside of class.... He will not respond to emails
Mr. Douglas is a great professor and an even better human being. Pretty funny, and teaches the material very clearly. He is also very helpful if you have any questions in or outside of class. His students actually learning the material is his priority, and I developed a big interest for a course I thought was going to be very boring. I recommend.
This professor is one of my favorites at University of Houston!! I loved showing up to his class, he is so funny and knows what he is talking about! If you ever have the chance to take Professor Casey do it!! You wont regret it! He was extremely helpful and there for all his students during the COVID lockdown, this professor is one in a million!!!
Took him for two math classes one in the spring and one as a 3 week mini-mester(pre-cal).. Though he is all over the place, he really and truly cares for his students. He goes above and beyond to help his students. I do not like math and I'm not very good at it, but he helped me out and i actually enjoyed it! I recommend him!
Certainly one of the best math professors, he is relatable, smart and makes class enjoyable. This class is only hard if you don't do the work or practice the material. He explains every concept thoroughly and isn't frustrated when people ask questions. Don't read anymore reviews go ahead and take Douglas
There is LOTS of homework and quizzes for this class. He posts the videos on teams and during the week he goes online and helps us with any homework and quizzes. The class can be a little challenging but if you do what is assigned during the day and keep up with your work the class can be easy. He explains things a little too slow, but properly.
Took this class in the summer and was amazed at the high quality. Because it was a month long there was lots of quizzes, but a very planned schedule was shared with everyone in class and we were reminded of it often in daily email uodates. Casey is Always willing to answer questions l, uses really good videos that help go through all steps. Best!
I took his Math1310 over the summer and while the lectures were easy to follow along there was a lot of studying outside of that. I am not good at math but an A is definitely possible if you put in the work.
Worst guy of all time. He is such a good and caring teacher that hes made me realize all others are horrible. He has ruined everyone else ever. Slow clap.
Best professor I've ever had. Unfortunately, class was online this semester so I never had the pleasure of meeting him, but his lectures were the best they could have been. Very detailed assignments and syllabus, so I never had a question about when anything was due. He is very caring and is willing to answer questions at any time. Simply amazing.
An all around genuine guy who is there for you in any circumstance. He is also extremely funny, and willing to work with you for anything. Wish him the best.
Casey (as he tells students to call him) is a really good professor! I took asynchronous online and his lectures were really helpful with learning the material. He is always open to questions from students and never gets upset. Hes also really funny and makes a lot of math jokes. 10/10 would recommend taking his class!
I took his class online during covid, He cares about his students and is quick to respond to emails and questions in the Microsoft Teams. He tries to keep lectures quick with all the info you need. I disliked the Lab portion of this course which was ran by a dude who spoke pretty bad english and wrote (scribbled) in the lectures with his mouse.
Douglas is amazing for calc 1. He posts his lectures and you just watch them whenever you want. he has office hours and class time open for any questions so its not hard to pass. He's super nice and teaches in a clear way.
When the guy did respond, the information was uninformative or unhelpful. Notes/lectures provided the least information, meanwhile, the homework and quizzes don't align. He doesn't care about his students' success in the class. When you confront him with an issue, he says one thing, "I'll talk to Casa. But you wont hear back. no extra credit also
Fantastic professor. Always replied to questions and emails quickly. Made great lecture videos and notes, and the quizzes and homework aligned perfectly. He cares very much about all of his students success. Highly recommend.
Professor Douglas is a great teacher who strives for his students to succeed. He is always willing to answer every question you ask, and has such a helpful attitude towards everything. Although Calculus itself is a hard class. if you do all the assignments and stay on track, then you'll be fine.
Casey is one of the nicest teachers I have ever had. However, he teaches you the basics of calc, but the quizzes and tests are harder. Very nice grading criteria and you're allowed many changes to get your grade up. I was failing before the final and ended up with a B. Kind of hard to reach outside of class. Easy, but you might need to self teach.
Professor Douglas simply is the best and my favorite professor at UH. He is so nice and helpful, always tries his best for his students to succeed. Professor Douglas's lectures were on point and had enough practice for me to be able to take the quizzes and do the hw with ease. TAKE HIM FOR 1431 CALC YOU WON'T REGRET IT
By far one of my favorite math professors ever. He was so nice, provided online office hours & would stay late on teams just to help you understand. Study and watch lectures & youll pass!!! Loved this class and Casey.
you want a good calc professor? take this man. Hes the nicest guy ive ever had teach me and actually knows how to explain math, good job sir.
I did so terrible in high school math. Had to take Cal1 as a prereq. Changed my life. It was a tough class, but Casey was so brilliant at explaining all of the concepts thoroughly. Very patient and caring person and answers questions really well. Best teacher I've ever had Don't take any other professor for Cal1. If you can take Casey, DO IT!!!!!!
The best math teacher I've had BY FAR! Prof. Douglas was very understanding and caring of his students and explains everything in a way that everyone can understand! The work was rq to be done on your own and then class time would be used for hw/quiz/exam questions and he was extremely helpful during these times. Super organized & wellcommunicated
Casey was such a caring professor and his lectures are pretty straight forward so he gives out tons of different examples of how to do stuff so no one is confused . Although he doesnt respond back to emails right away, hes still really lenient and drops a few grades at the end of the semester. TAKE HIM !
Excellent professor. Understands the material really well and held lots of office hours and posted lots of lectures and was always on communication with us. Very difficult class but Casey is great. Wish he would teach calc 2
Professor Douglas was an amazing professor for MATH1312! 2 quizzes, 2 poppers and 1 homework due each week, with 4 tests. The final replaces the lowest test grade if higher, and he drops a few of the lowest quizzes & homeworks! His prerecorded lectures are INCREDIBLY HELPFUL! If I had to take another math class, Id take him 100%
Easy homework. Easy tests. Easy quizzes. Just pay attention to the lectures and ask questions when needed. Great professor and got back to me quickly. So amazing and accommodating. Just the work and you'll be fine.
Best math professor I have taken at UH. He can be a little hard to reach outside of class but he makes plenty of time to ask questions or bring up issues during class time and office hours. Take him, you wont regret it.
Class itself is difficult, 2-3 quizzes every week, 4 exams, basic for Calculus/any math class. Professor is amazing. Mr. Casey was so caring and a great explainer. He broke things down however much you needed and was so patient. My class was asynchronous so office hours is where I/others met with him/got poppers (EC) and asked questions. Take him!
Professor Casey was incredibly patient, and helped make difficult concepts easy to understand. Went out of his way to hold extra review sessions to help students before exams. Reviews were great and should attend. Before signing up for Casey I saw a post saying "What are you waiting for?", and can concur!!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I hate math and he made me understand it. He's such a funny guy and is one of those people who just loves their job. It was easy to reach him outside of class; he responded within the same day for me. There were many quizzes and extra credit to boost your grade and practice exams that were very similar to the real ones. Awesome!
Great class great teacher. Let me just say these things. He kept teaching class while in the hospital and he did an amazing job. He cares a lot and wants you to do well. Love this guy.
The most understanding and caring professor. Slow responder, but really cares about his students who are struggling, and will provide help to the best of his ability. Definitely take him! But then again, calc is calc, so you'll have to work hard for sure.
Dr. Douglas is absolutely brilliant. First A I've ever gotten in a math class! Easy class, easy A if you do the work. Two lowest quizzes and HW are dropped, extra credit for tests(up to 5pts), optional final. If you struggle with math, take him! Very good at teaching and will help whenever he is asked. Very easy-to-understand content.
I've had several math teachers throughout the years and only one other teacher has actually taught me how to do math the right way without overcomplicating things. Mr. Douglas is an amazing professor. The material got a little confusing and harder towards the end, but I can never speak bad about his teaching skills. TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT TO PASS!
Prof. Douglas is one of the best professors I've had the privilege of having at UH. Always available to help and wants his students to succeed inside and outside the classroom. MATH 1351 has LOTS of homework/quizzes and Exams that HAD to be taken on campus. Get ready to practice your math and good luck. You are gonna need it
He is a great professor! I enjoyed him as a professor, but the class was not my favorite. We only had 4 homework', 4 essays, and 2 exams. the exams made up more than 50% of our final grade, so if you were lost, there was not much hope for you passing. I didn't like that this course was async, I didn't watch all lectures, and thus earned me a A-
This was my favorite class thus far! going into this class, I expected to hate it, but professor Douglas made it super fun! He also explained topics very well! This class had online live lectures, which I enjoyed a lot more than his other asynchronous course. Only graded on essays and homework and 2 exams. the exams were worth more than 50% grade.
I took his class async, make sure you do not fall behind and watch the lectures. He will gladly help you if you are struggling with any quiz or hw questions, just go to his office hours. He is a really good professor, breaks down the material in a way that you are able to understand the concepts and explains everything really well.
Great prof who seems to truly care for his students. Took class async - Douglas handled the async nature of the class very well & kept everything organized throughout the semester. Weekly (sometimes twice per week) Office Hours for HW help & test prep, which he recorded so students could review later. Grade: 5% participation, 25% HW, 70% exams (3)
Professor Douglas made this class very flexible. You essentially watch 3 short lectures a week, do a participation quiz, and have an assignment due at the end of it. Although this was an asynchronous class, communication was great. His exams are easy if you understand the homework and practice the exercises on the book. I highly recommend him!
He is okay. His lectures are limited to examples. Quizzes helped me the most to "learn the material," however the practice tests are nothing like the exams. Similar, but you have to KNOW THE CONCEPTS. You CANNOT memorize how to solve something, although it feels like that's all you can do to get the best grade you can get.
Professor Douglas was amazing! I really enjoyed his lectures and he was very organized and quick with email responses. You just have stay on track of lectures, hw, and quizzes. Doing that you make it through the class easily.
I would avoid this professor if possible. Test heavy. Super hard class. 0/10.
MAN this is your sign to take HIM!! HE IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST. as a person who struggles in math and previously failed at a math class..he makes it so easy and teaches you the best way possible! He is very attentive and wants you to pass!! so extra credit was given. I took him for a summer mini & make sure to do the reviews very identical to the test
Personally, I am not a fan of lectures but during Mr. Douglas's lectures, his voice is soothing to listen to while learning math and makes it so easy for me. He is also promising in regards to office hours and just knows how to teach!
Professor Douglas is easily the best math professor I have ever taken at UH! I love the way he teaches his material. I am a hands-on & visual learner, so it helps me tremendously when he color-codes things. He teaches the same way I take my own notes. I would recommend Professor Douglas to any student! I had a wonderful experience in his class.
Took this professor for Cal 1 and Discrete math and both times, professor Douglas was amazing. He's an amazing lecturer and very funny. His voice is very soothing and the way he teaches math makes the lectures very interesting. 10/10
He really wants you to do well and it's obvious he cares so much about his students. I took the course during the May mini-session (async, on-campus exams) and he made sure we understood the material. The coursework itself is typical CASA fare, but his exams are definitely simpler than the CASA material.
Amazing lectures that capture my attention through his humorous nature. Absolutely caring, as he often provide reviews very close to actual test as well as additional review sessions to help you better prepare.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS FOR CALC 1 !!! THE PROFESSOR AND TA ARE TERRIBLE WHEN. IT COMES TO EXPLAINING INFORMATION. IF YOU HAVE OTHER OBLIGATIONS SUCH AS WORK, KIDS, OR LIFE THIS IS NOT THE CLASS FOR YOU. I HATED TAKING THIS CLASS AND TRULY THE PROFESSOR IS A NICE GUY BUT TERRIBLE AT EXPLAINING
DO TAKE THIS CLASS FOR CAL1!! THE PROFESSOR AND THE TA ARE AMAZING WHEN IT COMES TO EXPLAINING INFORMATION. IF YOU HAVE OTHER OBLIGATIONS SUCH AS WORK, KIDS OR LIFE THIS IS THE CLASS FOR YOU. LOVED TAKING THIS CLASS AND TRULY THE PROFESSOR IS A NICE GUY AND ALSO AWESOME AT EXPLAINING
Dr. Douglas is great! He truly cares about his students' success. It would be awesome if he taught Cal 2 because I would definitely take him again. The only thing is the class is very quiz-heavy! It's easy to miss a quiz throughout the week but it doesn't affect your grade by much. Just participate in lab, do your work, and you'll be fine.
He is really good at making difficult subjects seem easy. 10/10 teacher definitely should take him.
Great professor but kind of like the other review says he has us read and think about concepts too much. I also I had just taken Almus so that I could focus on formula and just math numbers.
AMAZING!! some people had problems w him but I think it's bc they didnt read the syllabus, cuz Douglas was amazing. lectures r super easy to understand and the class itself is pretty straightforward. He was one of the nicest professors I've had ever. I've taken calc 1 and needed an easy math credit and I couldn't have asked for a better professor.
Great professor, I just suck at math lol. Regular session, lots of quizzes and homeworks, but he is EXTREMELY organized and color codes everything which I appreciate. I understood a lot of the material but I'm a poor tester. If you test well, then you should do amazing!
This was a course that allowed me to learn something instead of memorizing formulas. Professor Casey is humorous, and the teaching method is very easy to understand. He is generous and kind to grade, very happy semester.
If Douglas has a million fans, then I am one of them. If Douglas has ten fans, then I am one of them. If Douglas has only one fan then that is me. If Douglas has no fans, then that means I am no longer on earth. If the world is against Douglas, then I am against the world. Goated teacher Keep up with the pace of the class and go to his office hours
Very nice professor. I enjoyed his class a lot.
Great class so far!!
Casey was great when I took Cal, but unfortunately this semester wasn't so due to problems with his health. Personally, I couldn't do well on tests since I felt the resources didn't have enough to prepare me. I'm usually an A student so this was a bit disappointing. The TA is caring but after the final they just ignored my question & concern :/
Douglas was an amazing prof for the time he was here as he had to be absent due to his health. But still his prerecorded lectures, quizzes, and hws were great at teaching the material. He makes the class simple compared to the other professors. His exams are close to what is on the quizzes and hws so you will be prepared for those without issue
Prof Douglas always answered questions during office hours, but never answered emails. He didn't really communicate with the class and sometimes disappeared, which caused lots of confusion between students. His lectures were lengthy but good, however, I didn't like that he skipped over some examples in lectures. Reviews are very similar to exams!
took this class for my last remaining math class i needed, i personally really like math so i found this pretty average, the lectures he posted explained what we needed to do for the problems, i like how he had his lectures organized in different units for the videos and worksheets (if you wanted to print them out), pretty good and chill professor
Took precalc math 1312 but it wasn't listed. Will take forever to respond to you. Not a hard class but he constantly posts wrong answers. Makes learning very hard when the professor doesn't even know what he's doing. Its just precalc it really shouldn't be that hard, especially from the one that's supposed to be teaching you.
Grades comes from like 12 hws and 12 quizzes. Pretty easy if you watch the lectures. 3 exams also pretty easy. The lectures are usually not too long and very straightforward. If you email him he will not respond, the TA wont respond either. Ask questions on teams to other classmates. Grades take long to be put in. But pretty easy class.
The professor seems nice and probably cares for his students, but nothing else. He doesn't respond to e-mails nor does he make much of an effort to prepare students for tests that well. Grading also takes ages. He also constantly makes errors when showing his work on discrete math problems. I would not recommend taking this professor.
Great professor!!! He has free textbooks available, and both are great, I highly recommend reading the textbooks. He has weekly online meetings to answer questions about homework and quizzes. He doesn't respond by email often so it's best to ask questions during the meetings. This is a different type of math class so you must read.
It was my 2nd class with prof casey. Extremely stressful, he is mostly unavailable. Quizes were mostly bugged and unavailable until due date, grading were not done until final exam. Students were not able to see frq s score unti final exam was done.an awful class, tough grading, no helping, responding,no proper reviews for test. Don't take him
His lectures are good and easy to understand. Quizzes and HWs are challenging sometimes but good practice. Quizzes are bugged, assignments are posted late, grades never get entered, meetings are often canceled and he sometimes disappeared during meeting. The prof wasn't really helpful, students mostly learn by themselves and help each other out.
Quizzes bugged and no effort to fix without students saying, 1-2 homeworks per week, 1-2 quizzes per week, and the tests are tricky multiple choice with some free response. No curve. Professor leaves most meetings. Multiple lectures videos, 2 books, in addition to course work. I wouldn't recommend.
Took as an online class. Not very accessible and slow to respond to emails. Assignments were often posted late but he would extend the deadline if needed. Material is not too difficult. The textbook he wrote was actually quite useful. You have the option of reading, watching recorded lectures, or both. Usually the short reading is enough.
This class is very difficult, and professor Casey made it even worse. Last semester he canceled a lot of office hours and sometimes he was not available when students needed help. Students have been trying to email him last semester for help on assignments and we were left on read. You would be lucky if he ever answers your emails.
This professor does not explain anything in his lectures he assumes that you already know how to do things and skips over a lot of key information. His lectures are long, yet super indescriptive. He skips over a lot of problems in the lecture that can later be found in the quiz, please don't take him if you care about your mental health.
Probably the worst professor I've ever had. Lectures are horrible, quizzes have sections where he doesn't even teach on his lectures. He zooms through his lectures and skips over a lot of questions and important information. Yeah, never taking him again.
Nice prof. Never e-mailed him but heard he's hard to reach besides during office hours. Coursework started out ez but then got hard. For sure join class discord if ur fellow students make one. They hard carried me when studying for tests/doing hw. For sure watch YT vids from Kimberly Brehm. His lecture vids r long. Buggy quizzes but he does drop
I took him for MATH2312 precal and he was not bad at all. Keeping up with his material and office hours is essential in succeeding in this class. If you can do that, you'll be more than fine. His lectures are straight to the point, however you do have to do some of your own reading to grasp certain concepts. Practice exams were just like the exams.
He's so nice but that's not enough to be an efficient professor. Still uses lecture videos from 4 years ago that have frequent mistakes in them, takes his sweet time replying to emails and putting grades in (he very recently graded assignments from over a month ago), tests are ridiculously hard. if you struggle with math like i do don't take him.
Took an ONLINE/ASYNCH class because I'm busy most of the day and can't fit an in-person class in my schedule. For some reason 5% of the final grade is participation which can be earned by participating in his meetings or office hours. The times he held his meetings I had other classes. Chose an asynch class for a reason. Doesn't make sense.
Very cool professor. Talks alot in Computer Science language and really fun course.
The professor has amazing pre-recorded lectures but is never available when responding to student emails.
Really great prof, very understandable lectures. Exams are straightforward, no trick questions. Only downside is that he's completely unreachable. Had some personal issues come up and missed a test, he didn't respond to any emails so i had to email the math chair to get help.
Even after a few days with Prof. Douglas, I actually quite like him! Most of the lectures, though, are designed to make you reinforce what you learned on your own and not during the lecture. Lots of quizzes, homework, and attendance poppers to get you in (not the drug kind, as he says) - but if you put the effort, you'll pass easily.
Update from Sep. 16 rating: I forgot to point out that I struggled with this course, but he is extremely nice and sends out a message to those struggling in his course with tips and suggestions. He really is rooting for you to pass his classes, and it's appreciated to see that he enjoys all of his students from A to Z.
His Tests reviews were really simple and straightforward, I got a 60 on my first test but 100s for the next ones.
He is a good professor and it explains the lessons
Casey has been the best math professor so far, ive taken multiple and he is the top dawg, he also cares about the class and i recommend his class
He's a super nice and supportive professor who gives extra credit for every exam. Exams are based on practice tests and quizzes, so if you study those, they're easy. He gives plenty of time on exams, and his encouraging emails make the class positive and stress-free. Super cool guy :) anyone saying he's a bad prof is just bad at math lol
Hands down the BEST professor ever. He finds a way to make the class clear and even easy but also makes us understand
AMAZINGGG i literally failed math so many times im a terrible test taker but Douglas is amazing he knows how to teach & he's very caring and genuinely cares about his students there's no way you wouldn't pass this class !
Easily the best professor ever. I cannot recommend more highly. The class is tough because there's a lot topics and it moves fast, but Casey is just wonderful and amazing
Professor Casey Douglas makes learning incredibly easy with clear explanations and a supportive teaching style. He breaks down difficult topics and always provides thorough test reviews, ensuring students feel prepared and confident for every exam.
His lectures are so engaging and he does so well explaining! I'd recommend going to every lecture but don't fret if you miss one or two. His homework's and quizzes have 10 attempts and aren't proctored. He gives reviews that are so so so helpful before exams to help you study. Overall a great professor definitely take him!
He is incredible. He was helpful in and outside class, super funny and gives amazing reviews for tests. His lectures may be confusing but his reviews are really helpful and keep us engaged in class. I would recommend everyone to take this class
He's great. He genuinely wants you to succeed in his class and is there to help you. I highly appreciated how he would post wonderful test review videos where he'd do problems and explain them. The tests were basically those problems w/ different #. If you're willing to work for your grade/stay on top of the class, you'll do great. He's super chill
Not lying when I tell you this guy changed. My. Life. This was my third time trying this class and not only did he NOT make me feel dumb for asking questions but he actually made me interested in math. Like, I enjoyed going to class and working for the first time in my life. God bless this man.
He is a hilarious professor. Pre-Cal is exceptionally hard and I failed because of my work ethic, but if I could turn back time I could trust him again and have him say "Does that kind of make sense" more than 20 times during lectures. I tallied him saying that so much that it could be his trustworthy catchphrase. "Hooray for school!"
Amazing professor, really there to help you and make sure you do well. Accessible outside of class and clearly tries to makes sure everyone understands what's going on in lecture. Tests usually mirror practice tests, and there are a lot but they aren't too difficult if you prepare well.
I have taken this class three times. This semester was the last time, and I passed. I felt that I learned better by watching his videos and doing the practice quizzes. I recommend him.
