not easy but tries to explain in new ways, not condescending as other math profs
worst prof I've had. He's cocky too!
Very good math teacher but test is way harder compare to his notes
He's easy,helpful.
great teacher
not very easy but he is a nice prof and willing to help when u ask for it
very nice teacher, and you have to hand on the assignment every week. But if you do all the assignments, you will find that is very helpful for the exam.
If you're not a math whiz, get ready for a low grade. His tests will make you cry. In class, though, very helpful, and tutors for an hour in the learning center once a week. Good guy.
good teacher but very hard. class average on the first test was below 50%.
His tests will make you wonder if you are in the right class. Very very hard. Expects a lot of his students. Very helpful if you ask for help tho. Has print-out notes.
The mans a baller, what can i say. HAHA hes a fair teacher for the most part, math is tough but hes good for helpin the class out if they are stuck.
he is a nice professor and also explains things very well. his notes are basic and tests are very very challenging, which makes it very hard to get good marks in his class. unless you are a math wiz, DON'T take him !
His teaching methods are not clear at all and runs through material way too quickly.
He's like the BEST!!! I say, as long as you are willing to work hard for the course, Casey's the kind of instructor that's willing to provide you whatever help you need, which, to me, is truly a BIG help!
Casey is an awesome teacher explains everything cleary and is always around for help.. his tests are really hard be prepared to do all your homework.
Casey is an awsome teacher! he makes math much easier.(He can clear up how to find asymptotes). very patient and class isnt' so boring most of the time.tests are divided into smaller amounts of sections so you don't forget the material. but can be a little hard (not overly), if u do the H.W daily:D

hes got really hard tests but he will talk to you about it after which is good
this is a hard course that requires a lot of work, but casey does a really good job teaching it. he is really clear and explains things very well. always there to help. i definitely recommend taking casey for a math course.
casey is a nice teacher&very helpful, however he goes through the material very quickly- he skips steps while solving problems. If you are the type of person who wants to see all the steps of solving a math problem and want to know WHY you have to do things a certain way- then do not take casey

Great teacher, horrible tests... Nothing from lectures reflected on tests. All and all I would give this teacher a 6.5 out of 10!
He can teach you anything. He is very clear and easy to understand. He explains everything very well.
He's pretty good, goes over a very rigid set of notes, so no one should be lost. If lost, you can ask questions and he is very helpful. Wants everyone to succeed, like giving out A's and mostly a lenient marker!
Excellent teacher. Highly recommended. If you really want to learn and understand math... go with him.
ok teacher, brutal mid terms... is pretty clear when you get extra help. might need some coffee/sugar to stay awake in class...
Attend all his classes. He is a very helpful and fair teacher. Go to his office hours ask for help, he will help you and make you understand. His test are hard but it is a calculas course they are usually hard. But i recomend this teacher becuase of his clarity when teaching.
Best Math Teacher I have ever had hands down. Very clear. Notes reflect on his tests. Nice guy, too.
Nice guy, skips a lot of steps and RUSHES through material. HIS book is not recommended, hard to find same method in other texts. Found him confusing and I have a strong math background. Went into final with a B, out with a D. Tells you something about his teaching. Too many tests.
Casey is really nice professor! Go to his office hour if you need extra help! He is always willing to help you. He is the best math prof cause he explans things really really clearly! His tests can bit a bit hard but if you do all the hwk then you will do fine in the tests. They are not way too hard! don't be afraid to take him!
he is awesome. everyone scared me when they say no one can pass his tests but i got like a B 4 da 2nd one and an A 4 da 3rd one. the course is hard but if u come to class n do his homework, u will b fine. make sure to try the sample test before writing test and go to him for help. would absoulty recomend.
dont take him w.e u do, he is the worst prof ever!!! I suggest to take someone else if possible. He goes too fast, there are like 5 tests, totally killer!! he tries to help, but i wouldnt ever recommend him to ne1
Great teacher, you'll learn a lot. VERY hard/picky marker though, tough to get a decent grade.
Casey is a great math teacher. He goes through everything step-by-step and makes it very easy to learn the material. Coming to class is important but not mandatory. If you come to every class, pay attention and do your homework, you should have no problems getting an A and a great understanding of the course. Best math teacher Ive ever had!
I luv the way he teaches. One of the best teachers ever. He explains everything so thoroughly that there is no way one cant understand him.I recommend him to every1; i wud luv to take his class again. All one needs to do is do hmwrk n thats it! if u do then xams r not hard either n he is only picky in finals, then he expects tht u understand his way
Excellent teaching skills. Extremely helpful during office hours. The best instructor in Kwantlen.
SERIOUSLY! i have no idea why anyone would say something wrong about Casey. He is by far the BEST math prof. Yes, he doesn have a alot of midterms but that forces u to learn the material properly. His test arn't easy but they arnt hard either. He is an extremly fair prof. Best math prof at kwantlen,
hey you guys in the 1200 classes got it good.. guarentee anyone in 1100 classes don't like him as much.. He's too unfair with his marking, and its like he nickels and dimes you til ur down to a c .I dropped his course pronto. And for good reason. He is NOT the best math teacher. I'm driving an extra 40 minutes so that i don't have to take his class
This guy is unbelievably good. he is soooo helpful and always encourages his students. it is practically impossible to fail his class even though MATH 2341 is a HARD course. his exams and finals are completely fair and are VERY easy. i only have to say one thing about him: THE BEST MATH PROF AT KPU......THE BEST!!!!!
His classes are a bit hard to follow because he really likes the mathematical definitions of things. However, if you go to his office hours he is EXTREMELY helpful and easy to understand. He always goes out of his way to help you. His midterms are a bit hard but if you understand the definitions you should be able to do well.
Mr. McConnill is an excellent teacher, he is always happy to see his students when they need help. Calculus is a difficult course and even though more than half the class was failing it was not his fault. His notes are great and easy to understand and preps you for the exams as well as possible. I would strongly suggest him for a Calculus course.
He's a good teacher. His notes are pretty straight forward, and his lectures are written in them, so they make a good reference. The maple assignment was pretty silly, but other than that he's pretty easy. Helpful outside class too. He does crack lame jokes during his class though...really bad ones.
i hate math. and i still do, but casey is an amazing teacher. key word- EXPLAINS. He explains every single step clearly and repeatedly so the information sticks to you. His textbook is a reflection of him and his midterms. Kind of awkward, but he also has really good manners if anyone else noticed. great explainer, nonetheless.
Awesome guy who is Extremely helpful and polite. He explains concepts with amazing clarity. His tests are tough but he is a very fair marker and gives out allot of part marks. TAKE ANY COURSE BY HIM IF YOU CAN!
Has LOTS of office hours, and is available through email for help as well. He gives out sample midterms and finals to use as study guides. Class is ONLY going through notes, and you MUST attend. The course sucks, but I would definitely recommend this guy.
He is an excellent tecaher, made me understand and do fairly well in Math (my weakest area), clear, helpful, kind. Tests are fair, explains what to expect prior to tests and exams (I blame myself for not doing better but he is great). One of the best instructors you can take at Kwantlen.
An excellent teacher and a wonderful person!
Casey's nice enough, but is extremely dry and mechanical. He didn't go in-depth enough for me. I had to leave and figure out a problem on my own because he didn't know what else he could do to explain it. I dropped his course and took it with another professor, where I scored 100%.
Super nice guy but brutally unfair. Gives you worksheets to practice for tests but every test question is a higher degree of difficulty of the worksheet. He uses his own textbook, that covers the fundamentals, but you're on your own to solve advanced questions, which is all his tests are made up of.
Great teacher. Explains everything and usually gives you hints on what might be on the test. Easily the best teacher for Calculus II.
He is good as he is picky, math 1112 is not easy, a lot of stuff to learn + MATH LABS !!! make sure to have time to do ALL the homework ! maybe plan to take a course less while you are taking MATH1112. This course has a 50 % fail rate. Make sure you are ready for this.
Good professor, he's happy to help out and his explanations are very clear. His tests however can be tricky at times but overall I would recommend him.
I don't know what else you could ask for in a Math Professor. Casey is simply the full proof Math Prof.. Simply the best. Take him if you really want to learn Math and is willing to put time and effort. No place for slackers
He is a good teacher, however, he is a very hard marker. You do have to study hard, and be advised, the final is made with the only target of making you lose a grade point(eg, from B+ to B, or from B+ to B-) or more; thus, you must reach the final with a good mark, which is almost not possible.
Casey is a genuinely nice person. I wish I could take all my math courses with him, he is an amazing professor. He does have hard tests, but he drops hints during class as to some of the harder questions that might be on the test. My knowledge of differential calculus is amazing, and I ended up cruising through integral calculus because of Casey.
Amazing person and prof. Just amazing. He is one of the most caring prof I have ever met. However, he is a very tough grader. I took him twice, class avg was 70 and 65, you get the idea. Take him if you are fascinated with math. If you are not into math or just want the credits&gpa, think twice.
Casey is an awesome professor. He does great notes and explains topics very clearly. His tests were not "easy" (you definitely will need to study, as with all math classes) but they were very fair and representative of the course content that was covered. Questions on test are similar to notes and exercises and he is a fair marker.
Casey is the best math prof I've ever had. His lectures were great and the tests were actually really easy if you paid attention in class and did the homework. If you do not attend class and do not complete the homework good luck with doing well. Majority of the questions on the tests are like the ones in the notes. I would take his class again.
I am so glad that I haved Casey as my math prof!! very approachable, and patient. He would not look down at any students even they scored badly. He makes his own note, which I found it really helpful. You know, most of the text books contains a lot of concepts that have nothing to do with the course; it saves a lot of money, and easy to review!
highly recommend this prof if you want to understand the subject!!!!
was a nice prof, but tests are extremely hard. He won't hesitate to give you a big fat ZERO on the test. If your good at math, and have some prior knowledge then take him. But if you are still learning math, do not take him
Loved Casey! I previously failed this class so I had low expectations going back into it. He explains things very clear as he goes over them, tells you what to expect on each test and really cares about his students doing well! Didn't go too fast and always checks that his students are following explanations
He is not a good prof at all. Would not recommend him. He expects you to know everything and says "it's easy" and "you should know this". Only take him if you are the best at math otherwise don't bother
Casey should not be your first choice!! He goes over material way to quickly!! At least 10 people dropped from my class. His mid-terms and final are extremely difficult, nothing like his notes or practice problems.... good luck in his class. You'll need it. I went from A in high school calculus to a C+ in his class...
really hard teacher... wish I had taken someone else
Casey gives really in-depth and detailed lectures. Super approachable and willing to go over any questions or steps in the process of solving problems. It's a hard subject, but if you're paying attention to the lectures and do the recommended exercises, the course isn't impossible to pass. Also, there are mandatory lecture notes you have to buy.
Casey is the best! Not an easy class, but he made it manageable. Tests are kinda tough, but again, not an easy class. Incredible at explaining concepts and reviews past knowledge. Always happy, and super approachable. Very soft spoken, so sit at the front. Funny at times, and really cares about student success. This guy is an absolute gem.
Casey was really good at explaining concepts in a way that was easy to understand. He was very open to questions and gave clear feedback on tests. He made calc enjoyable!
Very approachable, friendly professor whom is always willing to help. Linear algebra itself is not an easy course to master so I am pretty sure its not an easy subject to teach either. I'd would strongly recommend this prof. to anyone who wants to get something out of linear algebra. As someone already mentioned, he is really good at proofs.
Linear Algebra is hard even before online classes, but Casey was always available to help me out and explain things. Midterms were hard, but I kind of slacked off for them. I actually studied hard for the final and was able to get my mark up.
I wouldnt recommend taking Mconnill online. His online class is completely asynchronous and has a lab or homework due every week. Instead of lectures, he has videos posted up ranging from 5mins-40mins long and there are around 200+ videos in total. Tests are based on his notes and homework but completely harder.
Amazing teacher, knows how to explain concepts really well and will give you all the extra help you need. Would definitely take a course with him again. The only downside of studying an online course with him is that it's all asynchronous. For Math, it helps to have at least a small amount of synchronous class where you can ask live questions.
His questions are so difficult.
He is really a good professor but during his course you have to study really hard to score good marks in tests. Mid-terms were quite easy but final exam was really tough.
No doubt he is good explainer but he gives you lectures himself he just uploaded videos online and he gave a tough exam and do expect you to do well from his online lectures
He's actually really good at explaining topics but jesus christ his tests are difficult. TLDR my class started with 28 people, and by the final, dropped to 12 people, and only 7 people passed the final. His exams have only like 4-5 questions which means if you don't know one, there goes like 20% off the test. Wouldn't take again plus hard marker.
He's a great professor, always willing to help you in class, and very patient. Only downside is that you need to do a lot of self studying, and a lot of work in order to pass. Mainly graded on tests, and they're all really hard.
Terrible teacher. This is the second time taking this course as I had a 70 in high school pre calc 12, but I needed 73 in order to take calculus. Math1112 with Casey is INSANELY HARD!!!!! If you want to keep you sanity, please. Dont. Take. His. Class. Ignore the other reviews they are so wrong.
His tests are the hardest tests you will pretty much ever write. Sometimes during his test you will wonder if your taking the right test. He has all his lectures recorded online so it is very easy to go back and study, however, there is honestly no amount of studying one can do to truly prepare themselves for his tests.
His lectures were great but my one issue with him was he did not gaf about his students or their mental health. My grandpa passed away due to which I had to go away for a week to attend his funeral missed a test worth 15%. This guy would not give me a make up test instead add its % to the final making it 45. Dropped it and did the placement test.
Good prof in terms of teaching but he does not at all care for how the students are doing one of the most stingy profs I have had. The final for no reason is harder than anything taught in class. He does not care for the class avg whatsoever overall good lecturer tho. Also why are there mcq with 20 options from a to t smh like whats even the point
He is such a nice guy but when it comes to tests he is the worst. His tests are soo hard and his final exams feel impossible you can study for hours and still manage to get 30% and he will fail u with no regards at all.
He deducts marks for multiple choice questions that are wrong, he himself suggests that if you aren't 100% sure that you shouldn't put anything down, but the multiple choice is over 30% of the test material. There is no scenario where you should be able to get a negative score on a test.
was clear and straightforward in his teaching. He always got straight to the point and made complex topics easy to understand. The feedback he provided was constructive and helpful, allowing me to improve my skills throughout the course. The tests were fair and not overly difficult, and the final exam was not long, making it manageable.
Mr. Casey is a kind and attentive professor who cares about his students. The tests and exams are fair, and he is an understanding grader. However, he sometimes seems unsure when asked questions beyond the course material. Overall, I had a positive experience and am happy with the outcome.
