Does not teach, will just give you the chapters that tha that are on the test and say test on monday. With no lecture at all. Hated the class.
i think ms.washington is a good teacher, if you do the work, you can pass the class. if you keep missing classes and assignments, your grade is affected. ms washington is very funny, she has you laughing in class. i like her.
Ms. Washington is a great instructor who really wants all her student to achieve, focus and stay involved. While many may bad mouth her because she is somewhat strict you still leave the class having learned something. I would definetly take her again.
I think that Mz. Washington is a great instructor I really learned a lot in this class about leadership. she is a great Leader and wants other to be great one's as well If you think her class is easy this class is not for you because she is all about you getting the knowledge.
I absolutely hated this class!!! I am generally a good student, As, Bs, occasional C. She does not lecture at all! She just tells personal stories, & does not assist at all. The teacher can be nice but will humiliate the ones that are late an by talking down on them. If your late she answers the door when she feels like it and she can only answer it. You will receive no study guide and while she lectures she will tell you to write things down thy aren't on the test. You will not like this teacher as she does grade hard
I like Professor Washington at first but towards the end she started getting attitudes when someone would approach her. She isn't approachable. She also talks about her personal life too much. Se barely talks about the context of the book. She is funny but sometimes she likes to put others down don't be late she will answer it on her own time

She seems hard, comes off uncaring, but she is a real sweet person, who listens and cares. Always willing to go the extra mile and answer questions along with assisting students who need help. If she tell you to turn in something or give extra time appreciate it, cause she won't do it often, she believes in holding student accountable for learning

Whoever is saying this instructor is rude is wrong. Ms.Washington is sometimes hard to talk to but gives chance after chance to get it right, when people complain it means they didint do something right. If the grade on your transcript is bad you deserved it.
I love child development, I have had several teachers on campus and I was not challeneged,barely showed up and did little to no work. Ms Washington challenges you, gives information and assists one on one. People come to Compton thinking its easy and refuse to learn, well don't take Ms. Washington cause she uses the book and forces you to learn.
Washington thinks she's better than other instructors but she's not. She doesn't take the time to explain the work or review for the exams; she tells you read the chapters. Worst teacher, unless you kiss ass to her and take her on another class then you will get an A.

Be on time and do your work, she does teach from the book and has a great understanding of the material. Ms. Washington can be a little hard at times but in taking this class again I know she wasn't me to understand the material, she also always makes her self available. those that pass her class don't work and are use to not doing anything.
I ABSOLUTELY love this lady, she forces you to learn all while making you accountable. She lets you know not to expect that Child Development is an easy field, but to know theory, principles and DAP practices. I admit she's hard but its more of an expectation. If you want to LEARN take her class, if you don't want to LEARN and just pass don do it
Be prepared to take notes in Professor Washington's class from day one. She will make clear of what exactly students should know to succeed in her course. But, if you have questions for her, you probably won't ever want to ask her another question again!
This class should've been easy. I recieved straight a's on my exams but I failded a presentation because she didn't like it. I included everything she asked for in and still failed and my grade dropped to a C which is ridiculous. Don't ever take her spare your transcripts
Ms. Wshington is a GREAT instructor HARD but great she does comeoff as being tough, but she will easily assist you and answer questions. I had heard a lot about her before taking her class, but they were all lies you have to take her for your self. She really wants you to learn hands down one of the best Instructors I have had at Compton College.
Ms. Washington Is hard , but cares and wants her students to learn, she has a lot to offer and is very resourceful if you attend class, take notes and read your book. If you cant pass her class its because you didnt try or didnt ask for assistance. I have taken the majority of my classes with her and I wasnt a Child Development Major until my third class with her when i realized that this was definety the field for me. If you wanna learn take her if you wanna work take her, if you want aneasy A dont take her.
Horrible! Don't take this class I have taken many online classes, but this is the worst of all. The teacher doesnt teach anything. Gives assignments without instructions. Expects it to be completed in a ridiculous amount of time. Eg:test- 24 multiple choice & a 300 word response in 30 min. Online class restricted to work on it only Fridays 5-12.
This is one of the most difficult classes ever, because of her! Its No was that I should stress over child development more than my math and science grades. She gets attitudes and doesn't explain clearly then gets mad at the whole class because we didn't know what to do. Its too much work in too little time. DONT TAKE HER!!!
I have always been a dedicated student to all my courses, however, in this class I received my first C, EVER! I attended her class on time everyday, did all of my work+presentations, and I also did great on her tests. Which btw I was very pleased with as they were fun and challenging. (READ the WHOLE ch and you'll understand) Yet, I got a C.

Her strictness may come off as rude. Very direct (your approach will dictate her response, ruderude). Overall, she's a fair grader. The assignments were not demanding and a reasonable amount of time to complete them. Con: lack of clarity about expectations can cause confusion, make you feel lost, and make the class seem harder than it should be.
I would avoid taking this class with this teacher. The only thing that I got out of her class were great class discussions. I would try to clarify if an acronym was spelled correctly on a test, and she would tell me she doesn't know. Go to a professor that is organized and cares about her students getting the grade that they deserve! Never again!!!
This is the first semester that I ever tried an online class and I was very excited at first. Then as the weeks went on I noticed that her test contained many typos and were very unclear. Her rubric did not show what percentage the class discussions were for the overall all grade. She does not answer questions, comments, or concerns1 right away.
She always has an attitude, I think it's because she's lived a rough life. She gets personal about how her life was, but that doesn't mean she has to take it out on everyone. Worst teacher ever don't take her!
if I had to take another child development course I would not take it with this professor again. Let me advice that she very unclear towards what is it exactly that she is looking for in assignments. The worst thing is that she expects you to know everything and for assignments to be perfect. Save yourself from a difficult time with this professor.
I can honestly say that Ms. Washington challenged me, I went into this class not wanting to work and not expecting to be challenged because i had heard a lot about the campus. However her CDEV 104 class was a challenge and I appreciate all i learned. I see the bad rates a i got out with a C but i know that i could have better, she is fair
I received a D in this class, but I deserved it. Ms. Washington repeated every class meeting what needed to be done, she clearly stated and even gave additional support as well as extra credit. She was not rude or mean any way she was more REAL than any other instructor I have ever have. Do you work and don't slack if you want to PASS!!
Great instructor, gives extra credit and tries to work with the individual students and often asks if things are understood. Many may say she is rude, but she doesn't just give you a grade she makes you work for it and that's her demeanor. I appreciate her as I have been prepared for interviews with her lectures and side conversations.
I heard a lot about this instructor before taking her, but I will say that she was nicer than expected and that she really does try to help the students out. I say that to say make your own experiences and don't be so quick to judge from this site and the students that didn't pass because they didn't listen, participate are apply themselves.
She is a good person, she would be a good social worker she likes to help people but not a good professor. She is disorganise, preps for quizzes the day off. She does not convey a clear message. Sabotages quizzes by given you a partial answer on the test if you pick the partial answer it is wrong because is not the whole response.
Ms. Washington can be very rude and will not be discreet when it comes to students testing or work grades. Test are unorganized and many answers are in correct and she has to go back and fix it after we contact her. She contradicts herself a lot, I never missed a class nor assignments but her contradictions made it hard finish major assignments.
Ms. Washington expects work to be done in her class, she wants to pull the best out of students. If you take her be clear on what it is you want to get out of the class as she will help but only if you want it. I thought she was mean but really started to see that she is here for the students that want it.

There is no way i should pass this class, but Ms. Washington is seriously trying to help me. I just turned in 3 late assignments but as she stated some points are better than none. I appreciate this instructor because she is real if i pass i promise to do better if i don't i'm going back to her and do better. I'm glad i didnt listen to negativity.

I was hesitant to take this instructor as I am coming from Cerritos College I asked around and was told do not take her she was difficult. Well i'm glad i followed my own mind as i find her lectures great and her understanding great as well, she is knowledgeable and want to help but wont be taken advantage of. I would not recommend anyone take her. She is a nice person but I would never take her again. She is a tough grader because she doesnt communicate clearly on what she wants, she oftent says one thing an dthen changes it and many ppl dont even hear her. I took that CDEV 116 CLASS i THOUGHT IT WAS FUN AND i ACTUALLY UNDERSTOOD THE INSTRUCTION AND RECEIVED HER NOTES WELL, F YOU FAILED IT IT WAS BECAUSE YOU DID SOMETHING WRONG. i MEAN WHO COULD DO WRONG IN LEARNING HOW TO TEACH CHILDREN ART? This instructor is awesome, I came from the Torrance campus where I could not quite understand the information given, she repeated information, gave answers and supported my style of learning. I heard many bad things non were true of her, she is stern but wants the best.
Her online CDEV 150 class is one of the most stressful classes I've ever taken, and it's not because of the material. She doesn't follow the syllabus, is unclear about due dates and expectations, and changes things up at the last minute. Test and quiz questions are often incorrect (wrong dates, etc) with many typos/grammatical errors. 0/10

I absolutely love Ms. Washington she doesn't allow you to get away with anything which held me more accountable for my grade. Ive taken classes at Elcamino ,Trade Tech and more and she actually cared enough to call me when i didn't come and encourage me to do better. It was an easy A once i listened, i even changed my major to Child Dev.

In all my years of college, I have never had a worse professor. Her directions were always unclear, and when you asked her a question about a grade on an assignment, it is as she would get offended or she just had to be right. She expected us to go to her office to ask question. As this was an online class, I didn't have time. AVOID HER AT ALL COST
A very great teacher would take again. She uses A lot of examples from personal life to make you understand the words or subject better. I would take her class again. She cares about the students and their grades, but if you think you will get an easy A then your wrong because class attendance is very important as well as taking her assignments.

Just took her for two classes in Winter and she was not at all what I expected from reading Rate my Professor. She was GREAT! concerned about each learner ,gave great examples,extra credit and additional support.. You people have her totally wrong here! She changes her syllabus all the time, nothing is ever good enough, her grammar is poor, she uses chat for dates for important things like you know your midterm, she uses no lecture and pulls questions out of future chapters that are not supposed to be on your quiz. I have tooken 4 online classes and i understand how online classes are constructed but she either does not know how to teach and online class or is a bad professor in general. She has no structure she is not truthful to what she says. No type of study guides/lectures she does not have a consistent schedule.
I admit i gave her a hard time but she made me accountable, i hate my online peers treat her the way they do. She has done more than expected to help me and i appreciate her. Do your work,communicate and she will support you all the way through, not only have i seen it im a recipient of it.. shes nice,approachable & supportive.

Professor Washington was my hardest professor this semester, and also my absolute favorite. She gives a lot of work because she cares that you understand the material, but she also keeps you motivated and informed. Each assignment she didn't just grade but she gave feedback that helped in other classes as well. Lots of reading, great, caring prof.

Worst on-line teacher I have ever had and most of my bachelor's degree was online. She does nothing to understand her students. Her grading is ridiculous and she her-self has terrible grammar so good luck trying to understand her emails. RUN! Worst ever. We had 3 quizzes and a Final exam all in a weeks period due to her error. She is rude, unapproachable, not engaged. On the final there were multiple choice answers that did not pertain to the question, she did not adjust scores. Seems like she sets you up for failure. I am an all A student and this is the only C. Im in the process of setting a complaint about her class to administration for her to be re-evaluated and I want a refund! I did the work and nothing I did was to her expectations and I know I wrote very educated answers. Many people are giving her good reviews but I am sure they have a personal connection with her. She closes assignments at 2 pm!

she is not specific when giving assignments after you complete it she grades you down and lets you know what she doesn't want. For example, when replying to an argument she doesn't want to hear from the first person, she could have written it down in the description so points wouldn't be knocked out. she does this with all assignments.

I hate this teacher . Her weekly assignments/discussions are a joke . Her questions sound like shes talking , and although the syllabus says discuss with your peers ,she often forgets to write complete instructions to her assignments ,expects us to disagree or agree with each other when were all saying the same thing .

This is an online course that requires you to finish assignments by 2pm , most online courses leave assignments open until midnight. Washington leaves rude comments and often forgets to leave instructions to her assignments. She was impossible to please and I will be avoiding all things that involve her as an instructor .
She would expect us to read her mind with the unclear directions she would give us. When she would reach out to us about not follow directions she was rude. I had never encountered a professor that was like this. It was not our fault she would never double check or reread what she would type.

Worst experience ever. Her lectures are not clear enough. When students ask for help she refers students to the syllabus. The syllabus does not contain the information requested. She gives way to many discussions that need to be more than a paragraph for one point .
Having nearly all A's at CSUDH and LBCC. She didn't understand it takes time to get the book, was very harsh on dropping students / not flexible, didn't take to any creative ideas. Originally I had wanted a letter of recommendation for an MA program, but I felt like this class was not fun or enjoyable at all. Just buy a book from Barnes and Nobles.

She's what you call a real professor and a real teacher and yes, she pushes you past your potential, but it is because she sees that you are a great student and truly want you to succeed and understand the teaching and topics of information, she a great professor.

This professor has to be one of the most stressful and not very helpful professors. The only good thing she had is she will give you extra credit. However, She can't keep up with the courses that she teaches because she'll mix them in. She does not answer her emails on time. She takes an hour and a half or even more.
