He was wonderful! His accent took some getting used to, but he was understandable! Midterms and final exam were fair, as long as you practice previous years midterms and exams. He is extremely helpful if you go to him. Very patient man, and very nice!

He is sometimes hard to understand but he gives EASY midterms and exams!! like 5 questions and they are very basic questions. None of that paragraph long questions where you get confused on the words. His class is always interesting because he makes alot of jokes so it's not just math all the time.

ok, to start of i got a low grade in his class. BUT it was totally my fault because i was careless in his exams. he's exams are easy. he's really nice, he has a strong accent though but just do all his exercises and you'll be fine. he's helpful and approachable.

Rada is a really good teachure. If you go to lectures he explains everything. He goes step by step through problems. If you dont understand somthing then he will explain it to you. His midterms are usually similar to his old ones.

Prof. Rada is quite unique. His gestures are funny, his accent is strong, and his writing is messy. He is very helpful and explains concepts step by step. Also, Prof. Rada is easy-going. He lets late students hand in their assignment, whereas in the other sections, late students lost 50% or got a zero.

He knows his stuff, and he does teach very well, there is an accent barrier there for understanding but if you're sitting up front and you get used to it he becomes quite clear. I dont think I ever saw him make a mistake and most profs do. He's very nice and helpful also dont be afraid to ask him questions.

Hilarious. You end up going to class just to see what he will say next. All the midterms just use old assignment questions. Final exam hard but bell curves it so you have a chance. Make sure you "doo" the practice assignments, they will be on the miderms.

Very funny guy. His first midterm was a complete review from high school, second was a bit harder, but he doesn't try to trick you. Oh and even if you're one minute late handing in his assignment he wont accept it. But, overall, his class is pretty enjoyable.

To start off, I hate Calculus. I only took this course because it's compulsory for my program. Professor Rada is extremely nice and very helpful if you talk to him. It's sometimes hard to understand his accent but he writes all his notes on the chalkboard so that's fine. Provides tons of examples! Exams were the same as assignments - DO THEM!

He was pretty great. I just started Calc II: Return of the Calc, and it the new teacher is not as good. His accent is hard to understand at first, and his writing is a little hard to understand, but most of what he teaches you makes sense, and after you do a few examples you know what he's talking about. He's a good teacher.

The funniest prof ever :D. He has an accent, but you get used to it overtime. His lectures are interesting and he gives similar assignment question on the exams, so be sure to revisit them. He doesn't take late assignments, so you better be early to hand in on time.

First midterm and second midterm were almost same as the old exams that he posted in his website. However, the final exam was tooo hard. in my opinion, students should get good score in the first and second midterms, so they can get at least c beucase the fainl will be bad.

He is very funny, and his class/notes are extremely easy. He posts practice midterms/finals and the actual exams are based on that. As long as you do the suggested problems, you will have no struggle passing his course with a high mark.

Very underrated prof. Knows what he's doing and knows how to convey the material. Test are exactly what was shown in lectures. Funny guy even though some of his jokes can get a bit stale. One of the best profs I've had.

This course was Cal 3. If you don't show up every day and take notes (and write down the examples done in class) you're screwed. If you DO show up and take notes though, it's easy. Accent's a little tricky at first, but it's easy to get past. Textbook is good for more problems, but he explains better than the book imo. He's funny as hell too.

I hate math but when I took Calc I with Rada, he explained concepts in a way that helped me understand the majority of the course. He makes the effort to go over important examples with everyone during class (3 minutes to try questions yourself which may not make for a low-key 90 minute lecture but in the end, you come to appreciate his methods.

Rada is simply amazing, it was my second calculus 1 class(failed the first one, had a very bad prof(Wong)). He gives lots of practice questions in class and gives you time to try them before solving he solves them, he jokes are hilarious, he pretty much cares about his students, his practice test are exactly the same, his not a tough grader.

Dr. Rada (the Punisher) is a hilarious professor and his lectures are very clear. He is very clear of what he expects of students and you must study to pass! Do the practice problems and MEMORIZE THE NECESSARY FORMULAS. Very fair, he makes sure the students who try get what they deserve. Not a hard course, basically high school review mostly.

I thought he was pretty funny, which is really nice in a class as dry as calc. Stay on top of your work or you will get PUNISHED ! The notes are okay, but compared to the other calc profs in the school he is a star.

He's an amazing prof, my favorite so far at Uottawa. His classes are difficult but if you attend class and participate you can do well. He gives time to actually try every problem in class, and then goes through them step by step to make make you understand. Textbook isn't mandatory as he gives all important info, but really helps.

I took both MAT1330 and 1332 with him. He gives many examples on class, a very nice guy.

He's really funny. Very clear on what he will be putting on his exams. Barely used the online textbook, just practice past exams and you should do well. Great personality and a really nice guy. All our midterms were pretty straightforward and easy.

He covers a lot of examples in class, and the questions in his midterms and final closely resemble those problems. I practiced using midterms from other professors and thought Rada's evaluations were definitely easier (problems were very basic). Also, don't sit on an aisle seat unless you're comfortable with him judging your work.

great prof for mat 1330!! his pace is slightly fast but he gives the best in class explanations and examples. Was always available right after lectures for detailed explanations and even though he seems a bit intimidating as he calls himself the "punisher" lol, he is super nice, understanding and easy to approach. would definitely recommend.

Dr Rada is AWESOME. He does a ton of examples that reflect what will be on the midterms/exam, and goes over it in a way that is super easy to understand. If you don't like your work being judged or work at a slower pace, don't sit in the aisle seats. He is a bit intimidating at first (calls himself the "punisher"), but he's a really friendly guy.

Prior to taking MAT 1302 with Catalin Rada I was a C+ student in math at the most. his teaching style helped me realize how easy it is to understand math and my potential. Go to class, go to the DGD's, practice the previous exams he provides, and study a week before each midterm and you will, like me a C+ math student, get an A+ in the course. GL!

Really funny guy and you can tell he really cares. Gives time for people to work on examples during class. May pick on you to give an answer and look over your shoulder to see what youre doing. I waited to make sure he was my prof for calc 2!

I am TERRIBLE at math. When I mean terrible, I mean I am prone to failing math classes. This is probably the first and the only math class where I was confident I could succeed. His notes are INCREDIBLY easy and clear to understand. He makes it so easy for you to succeed as well. The tests are all based on in class examples. BEST MATH TEACHER EVER!

I usually rate teachers very badly (they deserve it). However, Catalin isn't like the rest. At first I wasn't too excited by his teaching, then I started to know him and got used to him. He's funny, makes a boring subject interesting and most importantly, the exams are identical to the previous exams. Would take again.

I give him a 5 because he is quite the character to say the least. Very nice prof, funny too. I found his class a little hard to follow however because he goes so quick. Wish he provided more background information on the subject being taught. Overall good prof would take again. Also it should be noted he really changes the exams year to year.

I give him five stars. He's my favorite teacher of all time. He knows a lot of Math and cares a lot about his students. I could see that he wants his students to succeed and tries his best to help them. Hes lectures are easy to follow and relevant. Great Prof! Although, it took some time getting used to the fast pace of the lectures and heavy accent. Lecture content isn't posted online so going to class is important. Professor Rada is definitely one of my favourite profs at uottawa. His lectures are incredibly thorough and he always takes the time to ensure hes explaining things well. He is super helpful if you have questions and always makes himself available/approachable in and out of class. pretty hard content but he makes it manageable & is super helpful.

Rada is a great teacher! Organized and really cares about his students. He does have an accent but it is really not that bad and you'll get used to it. After class, rewrite your notes and read them over again multiple times. The midterms are very similar to the in class questions so practice those a lot.

Dr. Punisher is one of the top 10 math profs at UO. A true gem. Remember, in class, he is Police Man, but on exam, he is Punisher.

I enjoyed his teaching style very much, but if you miss classes you might fall behind as he doesn't really have notes for you to look at on his site. If you learn from writing things down you will do very well in his class, but practice is necessary.

He has amazing notes that have a proper flow to them and are easy to understand. I took his class during summer, online. I did not attend online lectures and am doing really well just from teaching myself from his notes. He has weekly assignments and he gives you a whole week to finish them with no time limit. online midterm wasn't bad either.

I had the Punisher in Summer 2020 semester. I couldn't always make the lecture times but this man recorded a concise 30-40min lecture video, separate from the in class lecture, for every single lecture session. He does speak quickly in lectures since he's a smart professor, but having the video option lets you go back. He is a stellar online prof.

His class is not organized at all though, so I recommend keeping yourself organized to do well in this course.

I loved Prof Rada. He's incredibly funny during lectures and explains everything in detail. I found his class much easier than MAT1330. The exams are very fair and no trick questions. The only problem is that his notes are unorganized and take a while to decipher, but I would still take this prof again. Great guy

I took MAT1330 with him. Absolutely hated it. But MAT1332 was a different story. Maybe it was because it took some time for him to get used to online learning. But the lectures were engaging and easy to follow. The tests were super fair (although I wasn't feeling the 60%-100% worth exam bc that was just stressful). All in all hilarious and awesome!

I took MAT1330 with Dr. Rada and liked him both times. Despite the constraints of online learning, he listened to student's feedback and improved. Each exam was run slightly different than the previous to run more smoothly. He's disorganized, but he keeps class entertaining and conveys the material well once you get used to his sayings.

He is hilarious and listens to his students feedback. He really does care! I will say his notes are disorganized and hard to follow if you're not used to him - but honestly turned out to be beneficial because I had to pay extra attention to know what's going on. All in all great guy with TONS of practice questions available.

Rada is super kind and actually listens to his students so that he can help them as much as possible on their exams. I have to say that his exams are quite tough and the grading is even tougher. As long as you do all of his practice then you should pass. He is a super caring guy though! Good luck to anyone taking his final exam! it's scary.

He's a good prof, notes are structured a bit weird but you get used to it, and he really takes time to explain concepts and like drive it into your head. Would've gotten a better mark if I actually studied lol

This prof is probably the best math teacher I've had and my favorite teacher this semester between all my courses. He tries his best in large meetings to make sure every one understands the material, answers all questions, and make you feel more comfortable with the material. He'll even put hearts on review sheets and crack jokes to make it fun!

If you have taken calculus 1 in CEGEP or something equivalent, mat1300 is just a piece of cake. Catalin is an average prof. His course materials are useful and he really wants people to do well in this class. Tests are fair, as well. However, some students may need to get used to his accent.

If you do the assigned practice exams and just review the lectures after watching them, there's no reason why you can't do well. I find the pdfs that he shares incredibly study sources since they're so comprehensive. Do the work and you'll get the grade you desire

Honestly one of the best professors I've ever had. His notes are a little bit messy, so going to class is a must to understand the theory. He's very fair in his grading and his exams are very similar to past tests, so practice those. Overall a great professor. Shout out to the Punisher!

No surprises on tests. Rada provides students with everything they need to succeed in his class. No need for the textbook considering he will provide lots of examples that are similar to test questions. This being said, his lecture notes are absolutely awful and youtube will be your best friend.

Prof. Rada (aka the PUNISHER) did a phenomenal job at teaching our class. Not only did he throw in jokes to his lectures to make them fun, but he knows his stuff and conveys the information really well. I went to every lecture and I highly suggest going as well as he provides a lot of tips for exams. He is one of my favourite professors so far.

Prof knows the material well and is happy to explain any concepts further either during class or office hours. All notes are written on the chalkboard which I like because then the prof actually has to solve the example problems in front of you and explain things in detail.

punisher is the greatest prof of all time. very funny and despite his accent is one of the best communicators i've ever had as a prof. it's calc so you do have to put in the work practicing but if you do you are well on your way to passing

He can be hard to understand with his accent and thin chalkboard writing, but he is absolutely hilarious and is genuinely passionate making the lecture and concepts memorable. Obtaining a textbook borderline required just so you can pre-read the concepts to actually understand what he is saying or writing.

Dr Rada is a very caring professor!!! The reviews on this platform are unfounded. Yes, there is a slight accent - but it is fine. This is a calculus course and if someone is not good in math - I don't think it will matter which professor they have. The final is worth 60% but that is set by the department not Rada.
