I hate english classes but Mrs. McG. makes the class fun and exciting. I look forward to going to class and learning from her. She is a must take for COMP I and I will be taking her for COMP II. I fact I am skipping COMP II over the summer to wait to take her class in the fall.

SHe does require you to attend class.You are allowed 2 absences but any more and you can not get an A.She says A students attend class.She gives lots of handouts, which are very helpful and not many powerpoints, which is good.She is very positive and upbeat.Makes you wish you could take her for every class.She is the funniest person. =)

Genius! McG is a genius in so many ways-- she's so friggin smart. She knows EVERYTHING about literature, but she doesn't make you feel dumb. She makes you want to learn, and she makes it easy. I really didn't like writing but she made it interesting. the class is very smooth and easy to understand. the only reason i got a C was because of attendance. you have to make sure you come to her class because there is no way to get an A without coming. i would highly recommend her class.

She is an AWESOME teacher. I recommend taking her, and I will take her for ENC1102. I hated writing, and though I was horrible at it, and I came out of the class with a 98! Attendance is MANDATORY, but she makes you want to go to class. She is hilarious. I HIGHLY recommend her!

Some people got it wrong. McG isn't easy slackkers. She's tough, but we just don't see it. That's the way-- no humiliating. I know two people who have been withdrawn for absences. That said, she is awesome! A comic genius, she knows how to teach and make it fun. She is the master of the written word. Rock those outfits McG! Love the sequins.

Had McG for ENC1102, a lot of work but she is a lot of fun & has a great sense of humor. She cares very much for her work & her students & goes out of her way to get grades & feedback to you quickly. Very inspiring & enthusiastic with never a dull moment.

awesome teacher!!!!!!!! she cares about her students progress! just try and she will help you along the way. Provides lots of resources to help you along and she is very funny and stylish. She knows when you put effort and takes that into consideration when grading. She has a low tolerance for slackers and attendance is a must.I recommend her!!!!!!

I took English Comp II (hybrid) with Professor McGowan Spring 2010. She kept the class interesting, and her passion for Literature really shows. You must attend class and be prepared to write. If you participate in class and do all of the assignments, you should easily get a B, but don't turn in lazy writing.

Excellent course by this professor. You must read, write, analyze, do research and pay attention in class. Laziness not tolerated.

McG is tough. She wants you to learn. She expects you to come to class and do the work. If you don't do it, you fail and don't learn. I got a C. I deserved it. She is quiet in her discipline but its there. She may seem like a push over but shes not. Just didn't embarrass me. I know three people who failed or got D's in her class. They didn't work.

I wish McG was teaching more of the classes I needed to take. She is an amazing instructor and probably the only one that will remember all of her students names. If you try, and I mean actually put in some effort and not just BS, you can not get a bad grade.

I've only been in McG's class for two weeks now and I LOVE her. I was not the least bit enthused about taking a composition class, as I despise writing, but she is making our assignments fun and interesting. She really does seem to genuinely care about her students and is an interesting human being on every level. HIGHLY recommended.

I took ENC1101 as an online course with McG. She was amazing. She gives clear instructions, and is quick to respond to emails if you need any help. Her sense of humor really shines through in her class, which is great for someone you never meet in person. Her assignments are fun in stead of boring. I highly suggest taking her class!

McG is the greatest professor ever. She is hilarious and beyond sweet. She also really cares about you, as long as you do the work and care. If you don't go to class nor do the work you won't pass. As long as you TRY you will pass. I had her 2 years ago for Comp 1 and 2 and got an A in both. I still see her around campus and will stop and chat

What can be said that hasn't already. She is tough but kind. Cool but brilliant. Easy but hard if you don't go to class. And she has shoes I would kill to wear. This professor knows her stuff. And I learned something new each class. I wasnt bored! That says something I hate English class. Take her!

I took her intro to humanities online and i loved it! It was so clear what to do from the beginning and you become used the routine of her work. I learned alot and she was fairly easy. She was so nice and i know she enjoys teaching. I wanted to take her again for a second humanities, but none were avalaible :/

Best English Professor in all of Valencia College. Do not expect an easy A, you will have to work hard for it. She is extremely clear and understandable. I took her for English 1101 and loved it, did not like literature at all prior to her class. She will get you to like it, MLA will become a second nature after 1102. Take her! You wont regret it.

She really wants you to work for your A. Which I did and passed with flying colors. You have discussion posts about the stories, write essays about them, and that's pretty much it. What I liked about her class was that she always gave us many tips for writing and she would send emails checking to see how we were doing. Oh and you have to read too.

I took Dr. McGowen for both Comp I & II, I would recommend her to anyone. I personally hate comp type classes, but by the 2nd class with Dr. McG, I was hooked on her class. Never missed a day, learned a lot, drastically improved my writing skills, and earn easy A's.

Took her for Comp I and for Intro to Humanities! Awesome humanities teacher, I learned so much in that course! In Comp I, she was so encouraging and answered all of my emails. Do your best and she'll give you her best! Some of the assignments are time consuming but helpful in the end!

I took McG for HUM 1020 online this summer. She always answered the questions that I had and seamed very friendly. We had and online quiz each week that did not have a time limit. I really liked taking her class. I rented the book for her class.

This is my 2nd class with McG, and although it's a lot of work, it's worth it. Shes a great teacher, lots of good stories that are fun to analyze. I will say that the class is a lot of work (probably more than usual because it's online) I would definitely take her again. easy grader

She is a wonderful person who will help you every step of the way. Very few tests. The reading was tolerable, but the discussion made the class. I wish I had taken her to 1101. She pushes you to be a better writer and thinker, and encourages you to have fun with it. Yes there is grammar, but she makes it pretty painless. I would take her again.

Professor McGowan's passion for the subject matter is contagious. This was a required course for me and I ended up loving it. She is accessible and helpful. Gives great feedback. One of the best classes I've taken. Taught by one of the best professors I've ever had.

I loved Professor McGowan! The test were not that hard, the assignments were very enjoyable to complete and she also provided a lot of material to help you understand Humanities. I came in knowing nothing about the subject and coming out feeling much more knowledgeable. I cannot recommend her enough. One of the best professors I've had at Valencia.

She is the sweetest, most organized Professor I have ever had! I would take her for every course if I could! She gives great feedback, her work isn't bad if you stay on top of deadlines! All the quizzes are straight forward! TAKE HER EVERY CHANCE YOU HAVE!

Best Professor ever! Whatever subject she teaches I will take. She is by far the best Valencia has. She will make you a writer if you're not, and if you are a better one. I was not ready because my Comp 1 professor was terrible but she helped so much! She really cares and everything is super clear, if you need help reach out! She is there to help.

She was a great professor we had a research paper as our final and she gave us clear direction on how to approach the paper. Also the week before it was due she held one on one conferences to make sure we had a good foundation for our rough drafts. Finally the last week of class he helped us polish these papers into gems just in time to turn it in!

She's the best professor ever, take her and make comp 2 your best class ever. I will take you as many times if I had the opportunity.

It's been two years since I took McG's classes, and she is still the best teacher I've ever had. I have no idea why she left Valencia, but a lot of us were heartbroken that we couldn't take more of her classes. She literally taught me how write. She made me laugh. And she was the nicest person I've ever met. I miss her so much! Come back, McG!
