Always willing to help in office hours and good at explaining concepts in class. Highly recommend. But do the homework before class. Quizzes will be way easy then.

i really don't think she's helpful at all. she gives mini quizzes on what she teaches you in fifteen minutes of ur rct. my advice is to pick a different rct instructor because she doesn't even have the patience to help.

Mrs. Sausville is great. She is helpful, but she will make you do the work so that you learn it and won't just spit out some answer. She wants you to learn the material.

Happy and pleasant, explains material well and will go on endlessly on the same topic until everyone understands. The weekly quizzes are easy as long as you attend class and boost your grade. Homework isn't mandatory and as long as you pay attention, not necessary. Doesn't take attendance.

Sausville is very helpful... As a person, she's great, and she does teach well, her method didn't work for me, but it might for you. I don't recommend her. There are more helpful, and overall easier professors!

I don't know what the other people are saying, Professor Sausville is GREAT! She is super nice if you try and explains very difficult concepts very well. I highly recommend her for anyone who makes an attempt. Her only problem is she looks young.

Horrible professor. Read from the text book word for word. Never gave any examples outside of the textbook examples. She attempted to be nice but came off snide and demeaning. Questions on exams very different from homework!! Things she said would not be on tests were. She also promissed extra credit and took it away the last day of class.

DO NOT TAKE! HORRIBLE TEACHER! RUDE, lies about whats on test, misses appointments, unreasonable. If u want to pass calculus DO NOT TAKE HER! Trust me, i am a 4.0 GPA student and I am failing her class even studying 30 hrs for each exam. Her main issue is making the test impossible to pass, unless you are a genius or have taken calc before.

she just lectures, doesn't answer questions, doesn't explain the material well, no one in my class has gotten above an 80 in any of her tests, and she never curves. In addition she zooms by about 2 or 3 sections every class so we barely even get a chance to comprehend the material and then we're onto a new section. not recommended

If you pay attention and take notes, you'll get by really well. Keep your notebook handy, however, and be sure to study. Her tests can hit you from out of nowhere. Thankfully, you do learn a lot, and the info is easily retained through her teaching style.

As a professor she comes off nice. However, her tests will hit you out of nowhere. On the plus side you WILL learn a lot, downside is she is relatively challenging. You can study as much as you want, but nothing really can prepare you for her tests. She is very willing to help you via office hours however. Just beware her tests...for real

First off, the person who said that is a 4.0 GPA student needs to stop spreading rumors that are not true. She is hard but if you do the homework you should be fine. If she is a 4.0 then she shouldn't be failing. That person made that comment since the beginning of the semester to the whole class.She is useful in the office hours if you go!

Class can be tough because she does not teach well but as long as you do your homework and understand the concepts you should be fine There are short quizzes about once a week and probably 3 tests during the semester and one final. Tests are always harder than she makes them sound but are not impossible. Learn the concepts with the hw youll be ok

register for her class, study 50 hours a day, to then find yourself disappointed and thinking that you should blame yourself, but then u'll find out that she sucks, she really really sucks and she's a liar. I encourage you to whoever is reading this to challenge yourself, but her class does not reflect your hardwork.

Really bad teacher. Don't take her unless you can't avoid it. You have to study your butt off but it is possible to pass. Don't expect a good grade though. Also you have to attend her office hrs for help but she is confusing so also study on your own and go to the math tutoring center. If you want to get it expect a lot of long and sleeples nights.

Too much drama on this site. Took it in summer and was Organized with her notes made sure we understood everything in detail. really slow for a fast paced class Got an A+ just by Mathlab... really helps! Study and show up. Do assigments on time. Quizzes are harder than tests. Practice graphing major in this class Textbook free in summer.

Challenging yet effective professor. 1 Quiz every week, Mathlab is used as HW grade with assignments due every week. 3 Tests (15% each) and Final (25%) which are tough. Curved tests&final grade. Offered some extra credit. If you have issues with material, extremely helpful in office hours or by email. Posts notes &study guides on blackboard.

BEWARE...If you are looking for a professor who explains all the chapters that will be in the exam, choose another! The mathlab homework includes things she does not explain! You have to study new things completely on your own.

Well organized class and strictly follows the syllabus. Tests = 15% and Final = 25% so actually study for them. At the end of every week, homework is due and theres a Quiz which both equal 30% of the grade. If you thoroughly read the assigned sections of the textbook and do practice problems, you'll do well. Prof. helps, but only if you seek it.

I was very disappointed when I took her class. She wasn't very helpful when asking for help via email, getting grades back from her took forever, and kept forgetting to post material on the bb. Also, some of the problems that appeared on the test were completely different from what was assigned for hw or what we did in class. I would not take her.

I took the course online and only took tests with her. Though she seems a bit snarky. The online course was a lot of self-study. Quizes due every friday night and tests on a few saturday mornings. It sucks having a quiz due friday night and a test next day. All the hw & quizes are on Math XL which isn't always user friendly. She curved a whole lot

Very organized and very fair. She is incredibly accommodating if you approach her for help. Take this professor if you are willing to actually learn the topics at hand. You don't need to be a math wiz to ascertain this material, it's pretty basic if you take enough time to learn all of the steps.

I wasted my money on a textbook that I didn't use. The homework was optional she claimed there would be extra credit but she didn't give much.Not only that the homework wasn't even reverential to the class. Sure she is organize but honestly, she doesn't give enough practice problems in class to help you understand. Don't bother signing up for her.

I've taken her twice, the first time I took her I hated it; but I think that was more of a function of my resolve to do the work. Math courses are hard and she does not make it easy but is extremely helpful if you want to learn the material and even offers extra credit. Recommended

Literally the most unhelpful teacher. NEVER in her office during hours, doesn't give you heads up on tests, doesn't tell you what chapters will be covered on test. No multiple choice questions, no calculators. And you only use online textbook which comes with mymathlab so DON'T BUY HARD COPY.

She does not respond to e-mails. ever. She does not keep to her listed office hours. No multiple choice questions and absolutely no calculators. This wouldn't be such a problem if the tests were similar to the hw, but it is entirely different. Half of the time material that was not supposed to be on the exam is included anyways.

Avoid her. She doesn't respond to emails, is not helpful, takes forever to get exams, extra credit, any graded work back to students and would always post the study guide for the exam 2 days before the exam, which was not very helpful considering her exams and practice exams were COMPLETELY different from the hw. Differently avoid her online class.

She was the most rude professor i ever had in college, she is not helpful at all and she wouldn't give you any chance to get a better grade even if you only want to pass. Her notes are really bad and on the exams she puts stuff that were not explained in class, she expects you understand it yourself at home before exam. DONT TAKE HER!!

I took the expedited summer course. It was fast, quizzes and tests weekly and daily super-frustrating homework. My interactions with her were sporadically good and meh. She likes to feel in control of her classroom and will sometimes scold for things like talking while she is. Get her to like you and make an obvious effort to succeed, and you can.

She is awful and unhelpful. I worked hard and went to either the tutors or her for help; it was not enough. The homework, tests, and quizzes are so different from each other that I could not understand what she wanted us to learn/know. I exhausted every method of trying to learn the information for her tests and assignments.

My biggest issues with this professor is how long she takes to grade tests, her lack of response to emails (both her and TA), and how misguided her tests reviews were. Since the class is online, it's 100% self-taught, so I highly recommend attending to her TA office hours. At least she gives some (much needed) extra credit opportunities.

Unfortunately this professor was a replacement for our class, so we got screwed over... Notes and lectures are very organized. However, tests and quizzes are MUCH more difficult than the practiced questions from class. Office hours are not helpful, math tutors are far more helpful.

She does not listen to emails; She has good study material, but the quizzes and tests are so ludicrously hard in comparison that your chances of understanding the equations are nill to slim. Your only chance of passing is to go to the review sessions and to use MyMathlab, otherwise, you may as well drop the class. Because you won't pass.

She is a very clear lecturer. Her notes are definition heavy, but they are all posted on blackboard. Online homework, tests, and quizzes are somewhat difficult. Definitely need to do all assignments and put in work, but a good grade is possible. She is helpful, but you need to be putting in the effort to go and ask for it.

took her class twice. Fell the first one,got C- on the second one. She is really good in teaching. However, the tests are extremely hard. She explain the easy math examples in class, and end-up testing you on the hard ones. She gave us 75 multiple chose final, last summer 2014. Very long homework--20 to 30 questions. Do your GPA a favor. AVOID

Teaches straight from the textbook, but her lectures are clear and she posts them online if you miss class. Her tests and quizzes are extremely difficult however and impossible to pass if you haven't taken calculus before. The questions are so much different and harder than the textbook examples. Its like she doesn't want anyone to pass her class!

Thought this was supposed to be a business calc class, she makes it into a very in depth algebra class. In classpractice problems are nothing like her tests. The book won't help because all of the problems in the book are done with a calculator, and she doesn't let you use one. Goes at her own pace, never makes study guides. Do not take this class

She gives decent lectures and notes but can be very condescending if you ask a question that she feels is basic. Make sure your questions are very concise. She says she is available via email but she really is not. The tests are difficult but not impossible. They will be the most complicated problems you get at the end of your homework on MML.

Lectures are pretty straight forward and clear. She posts notes online, however, dont expect them to be up on time. Theres no clear outline/schedule on her syllabus so have fun. Her quizzes are pretty tough, she expects you to do extra problems on your own or attend office hours. If you go to office hours she'll help if she has to.

If possible dont take her. She teaches a 100 freshman level course at a junior or 300 level course. Her lectures are clear, but she only shows you Level 1-3 problems, but expects you to know how to do level 5 and above problems. You will have to do extra problems on your own, and spend more time than other classes for a freshman level course.

The worst math professor i have ever had. She constantly canceled office hours and never responded to emails about anything. She also put information that we didn't even learn on tests, and was generally very unhelpful. I'm glad i already took this course in high school because if not, i definitely would have failed. DO NOT TAKE UNLESS YOU HAVE TO.

Horrible Teacher, she teaches an online class but is not accommodating to anyone's who has a non-traditional schedule. If you have a job, prepare to take leave for test days. She doesn't make any attempt at timely grading or providing useful feedback, but she does find the time to send out nasty emails when the class doesn't do well on a test.

As long as you took pre-calculus in high school and did well, this class will be a breeze. The material is very easy to re-learn and happy I could do it all on my own time. Just don't expect any help from the professor. Tests are very easy as long as you do ALL of the study guide. Highly recommend if you need to balance education and work.

The rudest, nastiest person I have ever met. She says no makeups, and she's serious, even if you're in the hospital. God help you if you have a disablility. Adds nothing to the course, and won't answer questions. You have to learn **everything** on your own anyway. Don't give her the opportunity to treat you like the dirt beneath her feet.

Prof. Sausville makes math easy. Her lectures are clear and thorough, she posts all the notes online, she assigns homework on MyMathLab so that you can practice, and if you have any questions, she and her TA are very easy to reach during office hours and by email.

SCREENSHOT EACH QUESTION on ur 1st quiz attempt and study your anwser before taking 2nd quiz. She takes forever to grade so dont expect to see your score any time soon or response

Professor Sausville's lectures pretty much follow what the book says word for word. She posts notes online on Blackboard. Class consists of weekly quizzes, three exams, MyMathLab homework and a final (25% of overall grade). Use of calculators during class is nonexistent. Not a difficult class overall. Go to TA office hours if you're having trouble.

Okay. So if you are stuck with this professor, do not freak out based on the current reviews. If you are a committed student and take math seriously, you will be fine and learn a lot. Sausville is a difficult professor. If you don't go the extra step, your grade will suffer. Go to LAs, office hours, and most importanly, TRY. She is not that bad!

I was never very good at Math, so that may contribute to my contempt for this class. I took the online version of 105 twice with her, and can honestly say MathXL only works for teaching me the material a second time around. She provides studysheets for the exams, however, the page # and problem # often don't line up.

Gives definitions not so much showing you how to do the work and then expects you to do the work on the quizes and tests. I have never struggled in a math class until hers. She gives a quiz every week, and homework for my math lab due every sunday. Only thing good is she gives partial credit for work.

I had to take the class twice because I didn't do so hot when I took it in person. Math is not really my thing, but I need it for my major. That being said, if there is an option for you to take an online math course, take it. Especially if math isn't your strong suit. She's not a bad professor. She is a good lecturer, really goes through all steps of completing things. However her quizzes are kind of hard because she always seems to add a little trick that she did not teach in the lectures or just barely mentioned. The tests were easy, an LA has review sessions for it right before each one and they were really helpful. Solid teacher.

She's a good prof but I would say that be prepared for the quizzes shes got every tuesday or so because most of the questions on the quiz are really hard ! The questions on the quiz or not from the lectures or the textbook. She just makes em very complicated whereas the examples she introduces in the lectures are not even on the quiz.

She is a good professor, and gives good lectures. If you go to every class and pay attention, you will learn the material. The quizzes are hard, but the exams are relatively easy if you do the study guides and go to the review sessions. If you go to every review session, and go to TA office hours, she will give major extra credit, so do that!

Weekly online homework assignments due Sunday at midnight, weekly quizzes, maybe like three tests. Overall not bad, a pretty solid choice. Lectures are a good pace, not too fast or slow. Can be reached if help is needed. Takes FOREVER to grade tests.

Professor Sausville is extremely condescending and expects you to know the material perfectly immediately after being taught it. She takes at least a month to return graded work and even longer to upload the grades. She continually says she will post additional help on Blackboard but never does and acts surprised when you don't know the material.

If you can teach yourself and don't need help, the online class is for you. Professor Sausville does not teach and the textbook was the worst in my opinion. Weekly homework and quizzes, tests are not always straightforward. Professor responded to questions relatively fast. Did take it in summer so it was very accelerated, take it in person!!

If you are taking Calc TRIG A/B with this professor then I highly recommend that you reconsider your choice. DO NOT TAKE this professor if you dont have any prior knowledge of Calculus or are not used to taking hard exams. Extremely hard tests, grades not posted on time, no partial credit. Catherine A Sausville would be an excellent High School teacher. This is where she should emigrate and stay there. She is the type of person who should never get into a position of power, since she is an awful leader and inspirator. Her lectures appear to be very thorough, but this is only a misperception since she does an awful job explaining it.

Her lectures are easier than the actual quiz or test. She provides study guides for some tests and most of them are the exact questions. She drops the lowest quiz. Also, her in class exercises or review suck! She has great material but doesn't have answer key so when you ask her she doesn't know if it's right or wrong.

She really isn't as bad as everyone says she is. If you put in the work (for her Precalc class) online by taking good notes and understanding your mistakes through the ALEKS work and quizzes, you will do well. If you aren't doing so well, you can always ask for help in class from her or her LA's or visit office hours/Tutoring Center!

She has an accent but you can somewhat understand and the whole class is just her working through problem after problem with no breaks. Homework are time consuming and worth nothing in grading. This woman is without a doubt one of the whose teachers I have ever had. She is extremely rude and does not answer emails outside of class. The test are not only on Saturday, but are also unfairly hard compared to the material covered. I taught myself everything and she does not lecture for the hybrid class just gives an unhelpful worksheet. Awful!

I don't think that attendance is actually mandatory but you do a graded worksheet in class so you kinda have to go. The LA's were really helpful. We used a new system this semester called ALEKS which I didn't really like. If you want to take this class online then you better be prepared to work for it. You need to set aside time every day for it.

Had her hybrid class, told us attendance for our "recitations" wouldn't be graded, gave out a graded worksheet every class as well as other graded assignments, so basically is. Explains concepts pretty well and goes around with her TA's making sure anyone who needs help gets it. Responds to emails VERY LATE, and distasteful tone.

I had no issues with this professor. She always went in-depth when it came to answering my questions and would immediately clear up any confusion. 9 times out of 10 I would recieve a prompt e-mail reply. If you are taking the hybrid course, the class period is simply for completing worksheets. There is a lot of online work, but it's manageable.

I took her hybrid class. So the online aspect of the course was good and provided explanations that she doesn't provide. But on the recitation aspect of the course, she makes you do worksheets and doesn't help you at all. The worst part was that we took our exams on Saturdays. I basically learned by myself and from one of my classmates.

Do NOT take this teacher by whatever means you have. When she actually lectures it's actually a pretty decent experience. But good luck if you struggle with ANY material, as she's super inaccessible. You're better going with the LA's for help. She relies too heavily on MyMathLab to teach you and she's very mean if you ask for help. Switch out ASAP

Terrible person. Terrible teacher. She expects you to teach yourself Calc by reading the textbook, and giving MAYBE 1 or 2 examples, 3 or 4 if you're lucky. Any trouble with word problems are given a "think harder" response. As a foreign exchange student, this hurt me the most.

I have never seen a professor was so obsessed with whiteboards. The TA's basically did all the teaching and there was very little teaching to begin with. Expect to learn everything yourself or hope that your group members know what they're doing and are competent enough to solve the problems you're working on. SO MUCH ALEK'S HOMEWORK!

She teaches the subject on one problem and expects you to know it perfectly for every single application. She isn't a nice person and relies too heavily on LA's.

I got an A in this class. I hated it. She barely graded anything until the last day and then just gave us 20/20 for everything we did, regardless of our actual work. Normally, this isn't bad, but its annoying to not know if I was wrong or not, especially when math and math formulas are so important in future classes. I hate this teacher. Dont take.

If you want her to respond to an email, you've got to send it at least 5 times. Taking her class during the COVID-19 pandemic may have contributed to her lack of competence, but being taught entirely through a website rather than actually learning from the Professor is unacceptable. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has issues learning in this way

We had to buy an $80 textbook/subscription for lessons and homework. The work load from assignments and hw was very time consuming. There was no lectures or other resources. Out of the numerous emails I sent, she replied to 2 of them the following week. No flexibility for quizzes/tests. Only got in touch twice. You have to teach yourself everything

I got sick during the final due to my POTS; I tried to contact her to retake it and she was extremely condescending to me. I would have been fine if she had kindly said no, but she basically yelled at me over email. She's extremely rude to her students. Avoid her.

Solid professor. Tests are half paper (just like the homework, which is about a worksheet every other week) half myMathLab,. Make sure to pay attention when the quizzes are, as there were about 4 a few weeks apart. Honestly, if you study hard and make sure to do all homework in time, you'll do fine. I guess she could be a bit more lenient though.

Does not give examples. expects students to learn purely off of definitions and asking other students who are also confused. When you ask the assistants for help she will stop them from helping because it's "too much" and "let them figure it out themselves". When you complain about the teaching style she say "should have taken Math 113". Horrible.

If it's in person, take sausville, bec her teaching methods don't work online. She lectures as she does the notes live so you copy as she explains. After new concepts are taught, everyone spreads out and does a few problems on the board before resuming. Her system worked well for me but it's not for everyone. Oh, and she uses mmlab which I hated.

Worst professor at GMU. She teaches the very basic material in lecture then assigns the hardest mymathlab hw. She assigns hw before we even go over it in class, so you have to teach yourself how to do the homework. She is also very rude and doesnt care for her students. It seems like she has a god complex. DO NOT TAKE HER

The class itself is basically teaching yourself. Most assignments and all the quizzes and tests were on a program called Aleks. There are also weekly assignments that you must print out and submit into Gradescope. If you are more of a visual learner and need help along the way, I suggest you not take this course.

Helpful in-person lectures that give you a good grasp on the basics. Accessible outside class. answers questions well. Plenty of extra credit opportunities, you'll need them. Very big jump in difficulty between classwork and homework + exams, of which there's plenty. Talks down to you constantly, comes off as extremely condescending.

This professor did a great job of making an already challenging subject even more difficult. If you are prepared to teach yourself calculus via youtube, then you will probably be ok. Do not expect her to help you in any way. If you mess up, she will likely not respond to your emails and may even (try to) fail you. Praying for anyone taking her now.

I took the online asynchronous version of the class with professor Sausville and it is almost as if the class is designed to make you fail. There is an extreme amount of homework that is assigned every week on the Aleks learning platform and the professor is not very helpful or caring at all when it comes to answering any questions students have.

Failed a placement test which made me have to take this. Just needed a refresher coming in this, and so I ended up acing it. That said, the asynchronous sections are taught entirely by the ALEKS system, which in of itself is already a much better professor than half of what I've had. Homework and exams are through it. No involvement from the prof.

The class is asynchronous. There are weekly homework and quizzes that are due on mymathlab and there is a weekly online recitation class which you have to attend. These are easy points you can do to boost your grade. The difficult part about this class, at least for me, were the exams. Study 2 weeks before the exam and you should be fine. Good Luck

I have taken this class despite the negative reviews that it had. I would recommend that you don't take this class, especially if it's online. The homework is heavy! Midterm and final tests are okay (It is exactly like the homework and quizzes on MyMathlab). I barely passed. Get 100% on everything else if you are failing the exam portions.

If the other reviews aren't convincing enough... just know you will sacrifice a lot of time, stress and mental health in this class. As someone who was already proficient in calculus and just needed credit, the professor was difficult to work with and the assignments will be tedious. Prof does a pretty good job of explaining things, but her definitions can get very confusing. The examples in the lecture videos help a lot. She's willing to help students understand too, just go to office hours with questions. Understands that life happens and grants hw extensions. She seems sweet, and can teach fairly well, but there are certainly problems. Lectures in class make you feel confident, but homework are way harder. These homework questions are usually used on quizzes/exams. Everything is pulled from the textbook-- if you memorize how to do the problems there/on HWs, you'll do okay. Take someone else if possible!

I don't think this professor deserves the low score. That being said, looking back on this class after taking another math course puts it into better perspective. All her quizzes are online with lockdown browser (I prefer taking quizzes in person.) I'd recommend another professor especially if you struggle in math but if you don't you'll be fine.

Prof. Sausville is kind and understanding, but her lectures focus more on describing topics than showing the actual math. As a result, the homework and quizzes are much harder. You will need to study different types of questions and understand them. The exams are tough, but the final is straightforward. Overall, do all the work and study hard.

I wouldn't recommend this class. We spent the majority of the time taking notes with very little amount of examples/practice problems. Everything was based on the textbook. Her lectures did not cover everything we needed to know. If you do take her, read the textbook and do the practice problems. Exams were hard. Quizzes were on lockdown browser.

Honestly, after taking more difficult classes, like calculus 2 and discrete math, I can confidently say this professor deserves to teach at a high school level. She doesn't really explain things well, she gives easy problems in class but then the homework problems are way harder. There is not too much homework and the homework opens early, so you have a lot of time to do it and can even do it before the topic is discussed in class if you want.
