i really don't think she's helpful at all. she gives mini quizzes on what she teaches you in fifteen minutes of ur rct. my advice is to pick a different rct instructor because she doesn't even have the patience to help.

DO NOT TAKE! HORRIBLE TEACHER! RUDE, lies about whats on test, misses appointments, unreasonable. If u want to pass calculus DO NOT TAKE HER! Trust me, i am a 4.0 GPA student and I am failing her class even studying 30 hrs for each exam. Her main issue is making the test impossible to pass, unless you are a genius or have taken calc before.

Worst Math teacher

Literally the most unhelpful teacher. NEVER in her office during hours, doesn't give you heads up on tests, doesn't tell you what chapters will be covered on test. No multiple choice questions, no calculators. And you only use online textbook which comes with mymathlab so DON'T BUY HARD COPY.

She is actually the least helpful and rudest professor I have ever had in college.

She is awful and unhelpful. I worked hard and went to either the tutors or her for help; it was not enough. The homework, tests, and quizzes are so different from each other that I could not understand what she wanted us to learn/know. I exhausted every method of trying to learn the information for her tests and assignments.

My biggest issues with this professor is how long she takes to grade tests, her lack of response to emails (both her and TA), and how misguided her tests reviews were. Since the class is online, it's 100% self-taught, so I highly recommend attending to her TA office hours. At least she gives some (much needed) extra credit opportunities.

I am glad that I'm done with this class. She's not only a bad professor but also she is one of the rudest persons I have ever come across. I hated that prof. Don't take her unless you have no other options. Except for the final exam, expect everything else to be hard and tough .

The rudest, nastiest person I have ever met. She says no makeups, and she's serious, even if you're in the hospital. God help you if you have a disablility. Adds nothing to the course, and won't answer questions. You have to learn **everything** on your own anyway. Don't give her the opportunity to treat you like the dirt beneath her feet.

She is awful. This is really a self taught class. She gives the notes in class and you think you have it until you get home to do the homework and you realize she taught you 0 application. The homework is nothing like the notes. I write word for word everything she says and it still does not help the slightest on the homework. Avoid if possibl

Extremely hard tests and quizzes. Quizzes every Tuesday on the past week's material. Expect to study and not do well anyway. You think you understand the material but when you sit down to the exam you don't and it doesn't seem like she cares. Lectures however are pretty good with lots of hands on work.

Prof. Sausville is one of the worst math teachers I have ever had. She is not accessible outside of class whatsoever. She is not clear with her grading, and she gives pop quizzes EVERY WEEK. Do not waste your time taking her class because you will not learn anything from her.

Study hard for those pop quizzes I am telling you they are really hard. I didnt skip class at all, but I still didnt do very well on most of the quizzes. The problems given on the quizzes are very hard the homework doesnt prepare you for it.

Professor Sausville is extremely condescending and expects you to know the material perfectly immediately after being taught it. She takes at least a month to return graded work and even longer to upload the grades. She continually says she will post additional help on Blackboard but never does and acts surprised when you don't know the material.

The instructor has failed to grade assignments online, tons of homework, and is extremely rude. Please do not take this professor. She expects you to know everything and her tests half of the time do not reflect the material.

Catherine A Sausville would be an excellent High School teacher. This is where she should emigrate and stay there. She is the type of person who should never get into a position of power, since she is an awful leader and inspirator. Her lectures appear to be very thorough, but this is only a misperception since she does an awful job explaining it.

If you are taking this course you need to pretty much already know the material. She is not very accessible outside of class or through email. Her grading criteria are ridiculously specific. If you like your GPA, try to find another class.

ONLINE -if you're a person who needs guidelines, AVOID HER. doesn't post hw when she says she will/doesn't give extensions when she posts it late, doesn't tell you when she won't be in her office during HER office hours, doesnt tell you what sections will be on the exam until a couple days before. doesnt post lectures. you teach yourself through hw

Doesn't post grades, pays no attention to students, has LAs handle all her work. You "learn" many different topics at once, each having little or nothing to do with each other. "Quizzes often" and "Lots of homework" are understatements.

Terrible professor with a crappy attitude and no knowledge on how to run a class at all. I wouldnt recommended to anyone and I cant even explain how garbage the class is.

You better either know pre-calc before taking this course or be ready to teach yourself. She has an accent but you can somewhat understand and the whole class is just her working through problem after problem with no breaks. Homework are time consuming and worth nothing in grading. Very condescending and required attendance when ppl stop'd showing

This woman is without a doubt one of the whose teachers I have ever had. She is extremely rude and does not answer emails outside of class. The test are not only on Saturday, but are also unfairly hard compared to the material covered. I taught myself everything and she does not lecture for the hybrid class just gives an unhelpful worksheet. Awful!

Do NOT take this teacher by whatever means you have. When she actually lectures it's actually a pretty decent experience. But good luck if you struggle with ANY material, as she's super inaccessible. You're better going with the LA's for help. She relies too heavily on MyMathLab to teach you and she's very mean if you ask for help. Switch out ASAP

Terrible person. Terrible teacher. She expects you to teach yourself Calc by reading the textbook, and giving MAYBE 1 or 2 examples, 3 or 4 if you're lucky. Any trouble with word problems are given a "think harder" response. As a foreign exchange student, this hurt me the most.

A very teribble, rude, manipulative, scary, donkey looking and all the bad things you can think of or even worse. Do not take her even if you have to wait for whole semster. I have never ever HATED person like that before. She does not reply to her emails, she does not care whether or not students pass or fail. She wants to see students suffer.

She is awful. Never take her UNLESS YOUVE TAKEN CALC IN HIGH SCHOOL. She is an awful person who requires way too much of her students and justifies it as "you should just know this". She teaches the subject on one problem and expects you to know it perfectly for every single application. She isn't a nice person and relies too heavily on LA's.

I got an A in this class. I hated it. She barely graded anything until the last day and then just gave us 20/20 for everything we did, regardless of our actual work. Normally, this isn't bad, but its annoying to not know if I was wrong or not, especially when math and math formulas are so important in future classes. I hate this teacher. Dont take.

Didn't answer emails that much, and when she did she wasn't very detailed in explanations.

If you want her to respond to an email, you've got to send it at least 5 times. Taking her class during the COVID-19 pandemic may have contributed to her lack of competence, but being taught entirely through a website rather than actually learning from the Professor is unacceptable. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has issues learning in this way

We had to buy an $80 textbook/subscription for lessons and homework. The work load from assignments and hw was very time consuming. There was no lectures or other resources. Out of the numerous emails I sent, she replied to 2 of them the following week. No flexibility for quizzes/tests. Only got in touch twice. You have to teach yourself everything

relies way to much on my math lab and shes really condescending despite it being a pandemic. has little to no empathy for any of her students and offers little to no flexibility or leeway in her class. i beg you, do not take her class. i gave her the benefit of doubt after looking at the other reviews and they're right! there are better professors!

I took this course over the summer of 2019 because I didn't pass it the first time. I got sick during the final due to my POTS; I tried to contact her to retake it and she was extremely condescending to me. I would have been fine if she had kindly said no, but she basically yelled at me over email. She's extremely rude to her students. Avoid her.

Does not give examples. expects students to learn purely off of definitions and asking other students who are also confused. When you ask the assistants for help she will stop them from helping because it's "too much" and "let them figure it out themselves". When you complain about the teaching style she say "should have taken Math 113". Horrible.

Worst professor at GMU. She teaches the very basic material in lecture then assigns the hardest mymathlab hw. She assigns hw before we even go over it in class, so you have to teach yourself how to do the homework. She is also very rude and doesnt care for her students. It seems like she has a god complex. DO NOT TAKE HER

The professor during the asynchronous course was a complete non-factor. Does not upload grades in blackboard. Not very helpful at all and comes off as very condescending.

DONT TAKE HERE, I took here class 3 semesters ago, my friend has here this semester and he is struggling. I don't know why is she even teaching in gmu, she would be a good high school teacher. she don't care about her students, I literally used to tell her "have a good day professor:)" she would look at me and turn her face not even smiling

This professor did a great job of making an already challenging subject even more difficult. If you are prepared to teach yourself calculus via youtube, then you will probably be ok. Do not expect her to help you in any way. If you mess up, she will likely not respond to your emails and may even (try to) fail you. Praying for anyone taking her now.

She is unfortunately one of the worst professors that I have ever had. She is a nice person and teaches the material OK, but lots to improve on. She thinks that her class is the only class we take based on the amount of homework she assigns, makes the homework way harder than lectures, and is quite lazy so she just gives a lot of work on MyMathLab

With all due respect, I am not sure what this professor is getting paid for. She uses mymathlab for everything, there are no lecture videos, she does not communicate with her students and she is extremely condescending. She assigns around three homework sections every week and each have at least 20 questions. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!

I took the online asynchronous version of the class with professor Sausville and it is almost as if the class is designed to make you fail. There is an extreme amount of homework that is assigned every week on the Aleks learning platform and the professor is not very helpful or caring at all when it comes to answering any questions students have.

Failed a placement test which made me have to take this. Just needed a refresher coming in this, and so I ended up acing it. That said, the asynchronous sections are taught entirely by the ALEKS system, which in of itself is already a much better professor than half of what I've had. Homework and exams are through it. No involvement from the prof.

This class is completely async and even then its difficult to get questions answered by the prof. she sucks and i failed this class. need to retake it next semester but definitely do not recommend taking a class with her or any math async

If the other reviews aren't convincing enough... just know you will sacrifice a lot of time, stress and mental health in this class. As someone who was already proficient in calculus and just needed credit, the professor was difficult to work with and the assignments will be tedious. Better off taking another professor or taking the course later on

If you have not read these pervious reviews, DO NOT TAKE HER. She may be nice when talking to her but she is not good as a professor. She did not provide any review material, even after promising for her exams which are the majority in your final grades. So much homework and several proctored quizzes each week.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!! You've been warned. No test reviews, unreasonably high amounts of HW, and the tests are only the hardest questions available. She is nice, but cannot teach at all. Anyone else is better but Chowdhury (the very worst math prof).

She seems sweet, and can teach fairly well, but there are certainly problems. Lectures in class make you feel confident, but homework are way harder. These homework questions are usually used on quizzes/exams. Everything is pulled from the textbook-- if you memorize how to do the problems there/on HWs, you'll do okay. Take someone else if possible!

Her exams are difficult and she's an awful teacher

I wouldn't recommend this class. We spent the majority of the time taking notes with very little amount of examples/practice problems. Everything was based on the textbook. Her lectures did not cover everything we needed to know. If you do take her, read the textbook and do the practice problems. Exams were hard. Quizzes were on lockdown browser.

Honestly, after taking more difficult classes, like calculus 2 and discrete math, I can confidently say this professor deserves to teach at a high school level. She's inaccessible outside of class, and is so useless during class. Her lectures are the exact same as using text to speech on the textbook. If possible, take literally anyone else.

Hours of homework every week. I ended up cheating on all the homework because it was so time consuming and just learned everything through youtube before the exams. Her lectures are also useless.

Attending class is mandatory participation/quizzes are 30% of grade. She does not respond to emails. She grades in the absolute last minute. I took the final and I still don't know my grade. Does not give proper study guides. Does not upload notes to canvas. Does not make important announcements on canvas. She's nice but not a good teacher.
