TERRIBLE TEACHER! Not only does she give you LOADS of work, but a lot of it is just busy work. She gives us about an hour of WRITTEN work a night (essays too), plus the actual practicing, AND she makes us get together with groups an hour a week and log it! She also doesn't go in order with chapters, making it VERY hard to keep up. DO NOT TAKE!
It's safe to say, I've never had a worse teacher. Catherine Bent is not only rude, intimidating, and undermining towards her students but is an awful teacher who lacks patience. She gives you UNREASONABLE amounts of homework, harshly grades you in front of your peers, and creates an extremely negative and unproductive learning environment.
I have to agree about the classroom environment being really negative, largely due to Catherine's impatience with her students. She assigns a lot, and expects that we can go home and practice and iron everything out on our own. Only rarely did she realize we were having difficulty getting something in our ears and actually used class to help.
You might as well just start memorizing every exercise and melody in the entire book, you will be tested and expected to do everything, plus practice logs? What? Writing for ear training? (and group logs and group practice and group chorals) Yeah... Switch out now.
At first I thought she would be nice and laid back. WRONG. WAAAAAAAYYYYY too much homework for ear training. I know its the most important class but she expects way too much out of you and if you don't do the homework you're screwed. Spends too much time on busy work that doesn't help and all work on melodies you have to do at home.
Yeah...She definitely knows what she's doing, I just personally felt like the workload was way too much. I don't mind getting better with ear training...but I'm pretty sure I can get better without having to keep up with a PRACTICE LOG. Is this 6th grade? No. I suggest this class if you want a challenge. I will say that I did get better though..
Catherine is an awful teacher. People come on here to complain about the work, and while it sucks that she gives as much work as she does, the problem is that she is condescending and nasty about everything. If you ask a question, she expects you to figure it out on your own. It's like you are CONSTANTLY being tested, and never taught.
She is THE WORST teacher Ive had. She creates a very negative classroom environment due to her impatience and her passive aggressiveness that only causes students to lose interest or drop out of her class she gives ridiculous amounts of hw and expects us to complete all every day including online extra hw I dont know what shes doing here @ berklee
She is completely useless as a teacher. If you wanna waste your money time and brain cells go ahead. Other wise...DO NOT TAKE HER, FOR ANY CLASS.
Rude, intimidating, and undermining towards her students but is an awful teacher who lacks patience. She gives you UNREASONABLE amounts of homework, harshly grades you in front of your peers, and creates an extremely negative and unproductive learning environment. Do not take her. HORRIBLE TEACHER.
She is the worst teacher Ive had. I hope she should move to another school as soon as possible.
I don't know how is she in Ear Training, but in Tonal Harmony, SUCKS! (Sorry if you see this Catherine :( ) She gives a loooot of homewoork and explains nothing in class. Don't take her!!!
Her class is completely unhelpful, she comes off as rude and snarky and probably won't email you back, she gives boatloads of homework, etc. The class consists of her going over the homework she assigned, that you never learned how to hear, to check you on by testing you in front of the class. After that, she assigns more busy work. Awful teacher.
This class was absolutely horrible. I put more work into her course than any of my other classes. It's basically impossible to get above a 93%. She apparently is one of those people who doesn't believe in "perfection." 100% on anything is impossible, doesn't care how hard you work or how much effort you exert, you're graded entirely on performance.
Actually I have read all your comments complaining about her. It's true that she sends lots of homework and that she expects us to work really hard on our homework so she isnt very patient in class. But people, if all of you who complained about that didnt go to her office hours, you haven't known her. She'll try to help as much as she can
I've taken Catherine for both Ear Training 3 and 4 and from my experience she's a great teacher. Definitely not an easy teacher but she's articulate, to the point, explains anything you don't understand and will wholeheartedly assist you if you go to her office hour. You get what you put into her class. Don't take her if you want the easy A.
I had Catherine for Ear Training 2 and 3, as well as Tonal Harmony 1. In all of those classes, she was very clear in her expectations and was always open for students to talk to her if they needed help. If you put forth the effort, which you need to do if you want a good grade, you will come out feeling like you have truly mastered the subject.
I had Catherine for two semesters, Tonal Harmony 1 and Ear Training 4. I would definitely take her again and strongly recommend her! She is very clear with what she wants, very organized, and patient. Every class she is one time, clearly knows what she wants to do and is prepared, and expects students to be prepared as well. Strongly recommend her!
Finally! Ear training made fun and interesting. It's clear that Catherine enjoys the musicality of ear training, and so we enjoy it too. If you do your do diligence with homework, you should
she is bad!
don't take if you want and easy grade. DO take if you want to make an effort and learn alot!! she knows her stuff and is very helpful especally if you go to office hours.
Catherine has high expectations of her students. Her attitude is like college is the real world and you have to take responsibility. I started out resistent but and then my approach turned to doing the assignments and stuff. She was really supportive of my effort to turnaround :)
I really appreciated Catherine's teaching in the semester after taking Her ear training 3 class. I didn't think I was good at ear training but et4 is easy for me now and I'm seeing others haveing a hard time. Catherine gave me clear methods for singing and dictation that I already Benefit from. Ppl say she's tough but I say Thank U!
I took Catherine for Ear Training 2. She is a great professor. She has very interesting methods and they really help. ALL YOU NEED TO DO TO PASS is to study the melodies and rhythmic examples that she assigns and sing/perform them in class. VERY EASY GUYS. And the midterm was to perform some of those examples. She really cares about students.
Catherine really care for her student, but she really makes you work in order to get an acceptable grade. She only writes scholarship recommendations to students with an average grade of over 85% and for me this was very hard to get. She is a little bit chaotic with her semester organization and she tends to show up 3-5 minutes late to class.
Seriously, all the complainers here should grow up. Did u come to Berklee to learn, or did u think it would be just a netwrking orgy LOL. Access to expert teachers with real experience in the industry. why waste it? Cathrine's experience says it all. SHe's funny sometimes, and if you do the work she will really help u learn.
Catherine is so oblivious to the fact that not only me, but our whole TH class is on the lower end of their grades. Man, does she assign a load HW on content she doesn't even teach you! Not to mention she'll put you on the spot in class, and will be condescending/sarcastic if you're wrong. Literally only plays pieces in class, THAT'S her only job!
SHe know I am foreign student but she do not explain to me stuff proper and with patience!!! vry RUDE!! also she just play music for fun, then u go online and there is too much hw on things she dint explain in clas!
this is already one of my favorite teachers ever at berklee. organized, good variety of class activities, lots of musical examples. motivational
She teaches the same thing over and over again during class and her teaching is really boring. She gives us so many homework to do each week. The online quiz are so difficult and she doesn't even teaches those things in class. I DO NOT recommend this teacher and I regret taking her. SHE IS THE WORST PROF EVER.
She is the worst professor I have had so far. She does the same thing over and over in class (same voice-leading exercises all the time every class) and gives us online quizzes every week that has NOTHING to do with the lectures AT ALL!!!!!! She also made us purchase 8pc and gives us unclear instructions on what to do. Definitely the worst!!
She is an amazing teacher and very organized. If you study regularly, you will do great. She is very organized so you don't feel like you are wasting your time. You get improved in every sector. And it is not true that you can only take 93%. In order to get 100% you must also do the dynamics!!! But, as i said, you must study!
Catherine is a wonderful teacher. She is very good at it and makes her expectations of you very clear. She is very organized on the OL so it makes your life as a student a lot easier. She also posts all the homework assignments and their due dates for the entire semester there, so you always know what to practice and when. That's pretty cool!
I am so grateful I am in this class because I get what I came for at Berklee. Hard for me becuase I'm international student. In office hours she has very patient and help me a lot. I realize I have to work hard to earn my grade but I have heard many new things thank you to this class and this Professor.
Catherine's the best teacher I've had at Berklee in terms of making sure you master the material. She plays unusual examples and introduced me to styles and artists I didn't know about. She connects a seemingly dry subject to real music. Also we did a lot of different activities; the class is action packed. Take if you are serious about learning!
I'm really grateful to this teacher for helping me improve. I had to make time for homework and practicing but it was worth the effort for the results I can feel.
Catherine's super organized on the OL site so you'll never get lost in homework. Took her ear training 2 class, it was not full of interesting stories but it WAS very helpful. She can be picky about performance quizzes sometimes but in a reasonable way, and on her class good work always gets good credits. + Really a friendly and gentle teacher!
This is a challenging course and the class was divided as to who took it seriously. My feeling is learn many new skills while you're in school! maybe I'm in the minority LOL. Work load was heavier than most, but you learn the language of Bach and Beethoven. Catherine is a good teacher, is nice, and knows a lot about classical music and other styles
I wish I'd had her for ear training classes before. She expect you to apply yourself and do your best. She was helpful in the office hours and showed me some methods really effective for sight reading and dictation. Thanks Catherine!
I HATED her during the semester because she is VERY spicy, you must follow every class, do the homework and STUDY a lot. Now i realize she is an EXCELLENT teacher, VERY spicy, is perfect if you want to improve your Ear Training skills. I recommend her 100%.
One of those teachers you appreciate most AFTER the semester. She pushes you to your limits so you grow. ET can be tough but essential. Catherine is 100% supportive and encouraging. She gets upset when students don't care or make an effort. She takes her job seriously and has a serious amount to teach, great methods and great musical references.
I love Catherine! I had her for three semesters of ear training and it was my most challenging course at Berklee but I can't even describe how much it's helped me. I'm actually sad to leave! She's such a smart person and a great teacher. She can be tough but it's because she cares about us and our success in music. She's truly kind and helpful.
Tonal Harmony with Ms Bent was challenging but she really helped me understand, analyze and write music in this style. She gives reading assignments for each class, and you have to take a small quiz, but when you come in prepared she can give examples and practice in class. She explains things well and is patient as long as you make a true effort.
Take Catherine's class if you want to learn a lot and get value for your money at Berklee. I had to practice every day and I learned how to sight read, so it works! If you have a bad day she is understanding but take another teacher if you want an easy cruise through core curriculum. Be smart!
Solid teacher. If you are willing to work and learn the most out of Ear Training classes, take her. She makes you work. But I could feel that I was getting much better at this subject.
Although not my cup of tea personality wise, Catherine is a great teacher. She's a toughie, so you MUST put in the effort to do well. That being said, she makes you improve tremendously. She can be sort of sassy and is a hard grader but if you want to push yourself and improve, she is definitely the teacher to take.
Personally, I hav found her to be extremely kind, understanding, and fair. I wouldn't use the word "tough" but she is clear in her expectations and part of that is that we as students do our part. She is committed to give us a high quality of experience at Berklee and put us through our paces. Recommended if you are committed to the same!
At first I thought she was a bit cold but as I've gotten used to her I get that she is really caring. She just expects everyone to bring their best effort and doesn't have much tolerance for slackers. Organized and keeps the class moving fast. She's actually very engaging and clearly cares about the subject matter and students. Knows her stuff!
Shes the best but you got to be on top of everything. Still she gives plenty of opportunities and wants everyone to suceed
Catherine got me to work harder at Ear Training and I improved a lot because of it. You definitely have to put some work in, and the one thing she does that I don't like is her Duos (two people have to prepare a performance from the book for the chapter tests) She moves pretty steadily though the material so make sure you're on top of it
Definitely more demanding than my previous eartraining teacher but I got so much out of this course, also I like her Brazlian music that she plays. She opened my ears to some new sounds.
I think the absolute best of Catherine. At first she and I talked about moving me down to ET 3, but I told her I thought I was capable of keeping up and she has been very accessible and helpful all semester. Expects all students to take it seriously which I really appreciate. Very kind and upbeat, a genius at what she teaches
She's very organized which is a huge plus. You have one dictation and one performance quiz every week. Then you have a dictation and performance test each month,Then you have midterms and finals, two choral recording assignments, And two duo assignments... Point being the work load is really heavy.. . You learn a lot. But die during finals..
OK, this was my hardest core class. I think my previous ear training teachers let me slack off and I never really practiced outside of class. You have to practice for ear training 4, it's a beast! metric modulation and key modulation, to be able to perform these. The payoff is that I actually learned new skills this semester, thanks to Prof. Bent.
I really appreciate how Catherine gets to the heart of the challenges in Ear Training 4 (and there are many) Se does expect students to do a good amount of practice outside of class, but she also gives exercises, handouts and solid methods to approach it. I really had to organize my time but her teaching is totally solid. Accessible in office too.
Great professor. She is invested in seeing her students improve, which you definitely will if you take her.
She is an organized professor and a brilliant musician. Catherine helped me improve my ear!
I have to go on record and say that CB's classes have been the backbone of my Berklee so far. At first I thought ear training was pointlessly hard until I started finding its connections with all parts of my music. CB really supported me over three semesters, and showed me how to keep learning and developing my ear. Thank you, I'll miss you!
great teacher!
Catherine is a very caring teacher. For a while I didn't think I related to her teaching style because was different than my previous in ear training. Now I can see how much I've learned, I'm definitely taking her class next semester too. She is really nice if you go to office hours and she's helped me a ton with rhythm. Also a very good cellist!
She makes you work hard, but shows you it's worth the effort. She cares a lot and always honest with everyone in class. She comes well prepared for every single class and except every student to do that as well.
Best teacher I had this semester. She's organized and encourages you to get organized so if you practice diligently you really feel the gains. I learned to sight sing and do dictation, it was my most helpful course at Berklee.
I can't say enough good things about Catherine. She's so good at what she does, and she's an excellent musician. She gives great feedback in class and is really helpful in office hours when you need extra help. I worked hard and really improved my ear and my understanding of music. Take her classes!
I was really nervous about Catherine for a few weeks because she expected us to take more responsibility than my last ear teacher. But I went to her office hours and she has been SO supportive. I just love her! Get over your fear of working hard and choose a teacher like Catherine who will really teach you stuff. I feel like I am improving fast!
She's a bit demanding but I know its because she cares about us learning. Skills are important to be musician. If you put in the time you will learn skills. She has good methods if you try them out.
Catherine's a great teacher. Gets annoyed if you don't do the homework, because she can't do it all for you. If you put in the time you'll really improve. I learned a lot in her classes and took her 3 semesters, so there you go.
great teacher
she subbed in our class a couple of times and I will sign up for her class
I am student from Shanghai. Catherine takes to understand me and helps me in office hours. She is great musician. I am very grateful to be her student.
Now as we are struggling to feel connected, the coronavirus having taken us away from school and friends, I appreciate Professor Bent a lot. Her effort to teach the classes online and give us an equal experience in ear training makes me feel secure, and that we are all in this together. She even wrote me a personal note, which made me feel inspired
generally a great class, she's effective at teaching a difficult subject. a lot of work but you'll be better for it at the end. most of my classmates and i found her unapproachable veering on rude. she's impatient and doesn't answer questions she deems unworthy which was frustrating. definitely necessary to be 100% prepared every class.
our performance exams are one on one. she was 90 minutes late to my midterm and is an hour late (and counting) for my final. offers no reason or apology. this is the kind of prof who will call students out for being 2 minutes late to class. totally inconsiderate and rude. she's fine at teaching but imo this is unacceptable.
I am truly grateful to Professor Bent for the care she took to create a good environment in our class after Coronavirus forced us online. My classmates and I agreed it wasn't a perfect situation but we continued to learn and she made us feel we were in it together. I learned a lot this semester. Thank you Professor!
Great teacher! Some folks complain that she gives too much homework but it's all designed to build your skills in the subject, and she's got your back. I already noticed a difference in my playing and ability to improvise and hear what's going on. Yay! SHe's so supportive and kind. Had he for two semesters. So bummed I can't take her next semester.
I love Catherine Bent! I had her for ear training 2 and ear training 3. She is such a great, clear teacher and very helpful. I love the Brazilian music she plays. Recommend her if you really want to learn!
Catherine's ET3 Class: - Challenging, but you learn a LOT - Wants you to be on time to every class; shell start class without you and you may be lost - Super accessible and helpful outside of class--will help as much as she can, even when the scheduled office hours end - Come prepared/do the homework Take her class--you'll be a better musician :)
I took Catherine's ear training 2 class, and I'm so glad I took her for 3 this semester! I found the material much more challenging than I expected but she is so patient and kind. I feel like my ears have expanded 200%. When we had to go online in the middle of the semester she was there for us, always trying to keep it interesting and relevant.
Professor Bent made Solfege very enjoyable. Her class is very organized and she clearly states all expectations and instructions. She not only works on ear training, but harmony as well which helps a lot with dictation. She responds to all questions/emails very quickly and in detail. Her class is very structured and encourages everyone to practice.
Catherine is a great professor. She makes you work but at the end of the semester, you really see the difference you you will enjoy your progress. She pushes you, she makes you work but that's what we want, right? Do the homework, she is happy and you will be even happier. When you have difficulties, she takes care.
Good teacher. You have to really pay attention, do your homework, and be on time for class, but she makes a difficult subject fun. Nice range of musical styles, not just always in the textbook.
I loved Catherine's class! It was hard when we had to go online but she really helped make it as good as in class. You should know there is a lot of homework and she gets bummed out if people don't come prepared. I am happy that I learned to sight read from this class.
As someone who has zero solfege experience and tried to get help from her from halfway into the semester when I was moved into her class, I thought that her total unwillingness to help me was both blatant and disrespectful. She ended up telling me to withdraw from the class after giving me zeros for every assignment the class did before I joined.
Professor Bent was one of my favorite teachers this semester. She's a very kind and patient teacher who will work with you if she sees you are trying your hardest. Professor Bent genuinely wants you to succeed and will you everything she can to help you get what you need. Highly recommend taking a class with her!
I took arranging 1 with Prof Bent this semester. I was nervous about this class but she broke everything down into chunks that were easy to understand. The only thing I'd say negative is if you don't do the homework on time you'll get a 0, so you have to stay on top of things. She used great musical examples and prepared us very well for the final.
Truly an amazing teacher! I have perfect pitch so ear training has always been pretty easy for me. This was my first semester in college and Catherine challenged me to learn new techniques and skills. Besides being a really stimulating class environment even online, she introduced me to some music I'd never heard before, including Brazilian choro.
Awesome professor! One of my best classes ever at Berklee.
It's a hard course but Prof. Bent makes it manageable. You have to keep up with assignments for every class. She is always super kind and helpful in office hours. Hope to take her for Solfege 2.
This was my second semester with Catherine and it was the most positive experience I've had with one of my least favorite subjects. She introduced us to really interesting music and the exercises that we did with the songs she played were always fun. I would highly recommend Catherine Bent to anyone looking to take any ear training course.
I had Prof Bent for my entire first year at Berklee and I feel my knowledge and confidence has grown tremendously because of this class and instruction. Course material was challenging but I never felt I was alone in navigating through it. She is very clear about what is due / tested and gives numerous tools to make sure we have full understanding.
The improvement from this class was amazing, if you do the work its totally worth your while.
Professor Bent definitely has high expectations for her students, but I got so much better at Ear Training in her class. As long as you consistently do the homework (typically 30 mins per day), you will pass the class and develop as a musician. She is strict in class but if you ever have a personal issue or illness, she is very genuine and caring.
Great teacher! I really appreciate how organized and thorough she is. I took her classes a while back and the work was, honestly, pretty challenging and difficult. But now I'm using what she taught me and I know she's given me skills for life.
I felt pushed in her class, and I appreciate that. However, I found it very hard to maintain any respect for Catherine. She was rude to students, and rarely showed up on time. Multiple times she cancelled class when most of her students had already showed up. If you stay on top of your work, the class is fine, but don't expect much from Catherine.
Great professor! Some students misconstrue Catherine's high expectations as being mean or impatient, but she just wants her students to do the work and improve. I've taken her for two semesters, and it's helped me in all areas of my music (my major is Pro Music). I've registered for her Ear Training 4 in the fall.
A great first semester at Berklee and this was my favorite class. I didn't really know what I'd learn in ear training class but Catherine helped me build more skills for recognition and writing of music. I wasn't confident at first about the singing part but she gave me a lot of encouragement and I really felt the improvement over the semester.
Truly my best ear training teacher at Berklee. She makes use of every minute of class time, and has high expectations of students. I liked that she made really good handouts to explain the harder concepts, with activities you can practice. I wish she was teaching Solfege 2 in the fall!
She was really tough but I think for something like ear training that actually comes in handy. Ear Training 4 is really hard so if you aren't pushed you're not gonna learn that much. People may call her harsh but I really appreciated her style. Classes were usually pretty chill and quiet.
I was put in Catherine's ET2 class first semester. I was surprised by how challenging it was and how she was on top of everyone to keep up with the work. It was the hardest class I had. But I chose her again, and again, so she has been my professor for all my core ET at Berklee. She was supportive all the time and my skills improved every semester.
I had Professor Bent for 3 semesters (ear training 2, 3, 4). So difficult at first, I couldn't believe all the work. But it transformed me. If I could go back, I wouldn't have done it any other way. She is fantastic and truly a shining example of Berklee's quality.
My first semester at Berklee, this was the hardest class but the best. For real I was not expecting to do this kind of work or so much work. Now I can do dictation and sight singing and I appreciate having these skills. Catherine is a great professor, no B.S. Shes a very nice person too.
Good professor, chill class. I liked the Brazilian music she brought in, and other stuff that was new to me.
A class with high expectations that was extremely daunting to me and very hard to begin with, but luckily, Professor Bent was a very good teacher. Everything she taught was clear, concise, and to the point. She is the only teacher that never wasted anytime in class and was always teaching and practicing with us. I'm very glad for learning with her.
Felt thoroughly (but not overwhelmingly) challenged throughout this semester, which is definitely a positive in the long-run. Catherine makes sure nobody's being a slouch when it comes to consistent practice with the assigned material. I also really liked her "detours"/other ways to look at and sharpen our sight-reading and inner hearing skills.
Catherine always had cool examples of music that related to topics we were discussing and practicing in class. It was especially cool to listen to the choro music she played. She has an excellent ear and can tell what people are struggling with and tackle that head-on. I took her class for 2 semesters and I recommend her!
I loved this class and Professor Catherine Bent! She helped me a lot during the tough material. I was able to improve significantly by the ending of the semester. She explained everything greatly. Loved this!!!
Prof Bent is in my top three favorite Berklee profs. She's tough but only because she wants us all to get the skills and her methods really work. Recommended if you're willing to put in the work! Also a sweet human, always willing to help.
Catherine taught me a lot about music. One of my best teachers. Yeh she is tough and calls on people to sing the homework but it's because she really wants you to learn. Highly recommended if you are serious about improving your musical skills!
I can't say enough about Catherine and how she has helped me build my musical skills over two semesters. I took another professor for ET3 and returned to Catherine when I realized she is one of Berklee's outstanding teachers. Well-prepared, motivating and focused. You have to put in some serious time out of class but you really see the effect.
Catherine is a genius musician and a great teacher. Uses the Canvas platform and sets out all the homework so you can plan ahead. Expects a lot for her students, but why are you paying $40K if you don't want a high-level education.
I like my new ear training class. Teacher is chill if you do the work.
ET4 with Catherine was challenging, to say the least. However, if you work on the assigned exercises (and practice your butt off), you'll be greatly rewarded and surprised with what you'll be capable of. She's passionate about teaching and talking with enthusiastic students. She will NOT tolerate folks phoning it in on assignments or exams.
I had Prof Catherine Bent for 3 semesters (just finished Ear Training 4!) and I am sad that it's over. I can't believe I'm saying this about core ear training, because it was quite challenging and sometimes I struggled with the assignments. She is such a good, caring teacher, it's teachers like Catherine that make Berklee amazing.
I took Catherine's class for 3 semesters because she is the best! At first I thought it was too hard and so much work, but I adjusted to the pace and I made progress. I can't believe things I can do now that I couldn't before, like dictation and singing solfege. She taught me how to sight read! Thank you Catherine. I will recommend you to everyone!
I started Berklee this semester and Professor Bent was my best teacher. Ear Training was not really like I expected, and I didn't have formal ear training. I have lots of new skills now, thanks to Professor Bent.
Great teacher, plays good music for examples in class, a lot of I hadn't heard before which was fun. Class was chill. She's firm about deadlines so get yourself organized. Overall recomended.
Professor Bent is an excellent ear-training professor. She is very organized, and if you are too, you will do well. She explains difficult topics very well and is very available and helpful in her office hours. You will definitely learn A LOT with her! Just do your homework and practice the examples. Highly recommend her for serious students.
Prof Bent is a really caring teacher, and plays cool music from all the world to demonstrate the class topics. She can get irritated when students come unprepared, but as long as you keep up with the homework (practicing and dictation) you will do well and learn a lot. Also she's very kind and helpful if you need extra help which I did at first.
Ear training is not my best subject. I enjoyed the class activities and I got some new skill.
My first semester at Berklee was tough but Catherine's teaching and support saved me. I started out with very little ability and she helped me so much improvement. She is very kind and a great musician.
I didn't know what to expect because I had never taken an ear training course before. Professor helped me see the things I was not good at, and strategies for working on them. Specifically rhythm. I have gotten so much better at understanding rhythms and sight reading. Thank you, Professor Bent!
Catherine was more demanding than my previous ear training teachers. Some people in the class complained about her but I believe she really cares and wants us to improve. You have to do the work to get results. Not an easy class, but I can tell you, I improved my skills more with this Catherine than in the entire last three semesters.
By far the worst ear training professor I have taken at Berklee. She will waste your time focusing on harmony concepts that you will be learning in Harmony 3. She will not review all of the material from the book in class, expect hours upon hours of personal time commitment every week, and make you feel inadequate with passive-aggressive remarks.
