I think she should be teaching women studies. Because instead of learning about English, we learned about Feminism. She should change her department and stop wasting people's time. She's a very sweet woman but at the same time... the entire class is about her political views. This class is supposed to be about ethnic literature.

She is a very kind professor. Lenient grader and isn't strict about due dates. She only assigned 2 essays and presentations were optional. What I didn't like about this class is that she goes on so many long tangents. Also, tests are kind of hard and they count for most of your grade - which you can't check because she doesn't use canvas.

Eng24.. grammar review spring 2019 Professor Dr Cat Edelmann is thorough and precise in her lectures. The best English teacher at SMC, by far. I suggest to take her before taking English 1, so student will be able to write proper usage of grammar and punctuation in writing essays. It will be a tremendous help to ease in writing essays.

I took English 1 with Dr. Cat during winter semester and returned to her for English 2 during spring. She has been a pivotal influence in my life and I am tremendously thankful to her for her thoughts and time. Authentic participation is rewarded and students who listen and follow instructions benefit most. Combative students please don't enroll.

From the first day to the last, Dr. Cats humor, quick wit, intelligence, and deep caring made everyday in class thought provoking. In this class you get what you put in, just like life. My life was seriously changed from Dr. Cats underlying message. This WOMAN is pure genius and Im thankful to have had the chance to learn from her. -Sharks

She is GREAT. I absolutely loved her lectures and I was actually a little disappointed when semester ended. Very interesting lectures, amazing choice of books and phenomenal energy. HW felt like cheating, cuz I actually ENJOYED doing it. She cares about her students deeply and believes at what she's teaching. Great professor, great person! <3

I'm still currently in Dr. Edelmann's class, however from the few months I've attended her classes it is clear that she cares for her student's education, and will go to great lengths to ensure their success. You will be expected to put work into this class, but she does not assign excessive homework and is clear about what her expectations are.

Decently good at teaching, but it will always be clear that a political agenda is pushed. The professor advocates for critical thinking on all matters, but expects students to blindly accept her beliefs as their own. Additionally, the professor has students read her own discertation as the primary book of the semester. Not professional.

Shes an okay professor. What I truly disliked about the class was her political and feminist rants. Tells you her class is a save place, but when you refer to god as a male she corrects you to goddess. Youre required to buy her lecture book, her class is okay its just a little annoying.

She is definitely clear in her Feminism and will let you know it. Take this class with an open mind but remember it's only a few months. I worked hard on her assignments and met after class for feedback. She will work with you, don't let some of her ideas and comments scare you off. Work har, participate and read what she tells you to and you pass.

I found her class to be enlightening. If you have an open mind and are interested in learning beyond the traditional male centric view point than this is a wonderful class to take. I stayed open and learned so much from her. I enjoyed a different learned perspective. She enjoys alternative perspectives, but you have to have the goods to back it up.

Dr. Cat is absolutely brilliant-- her dissertation (of which you must purchase) is eye-opening. She really tries to help her students improve and learn. That being said, attendance (graded) and participation (ungraded) are VERY important, and you must put real effort into your papers. Not a SUPER easy class, but worth it for the knowledge.

This was the best English class I have ever taken. The books she makes us read are great. Her class was a mix of English and phycology. She gives lots of great advice for real life. Her book was very informative. She does not make PowerPoints so be sure to listen carefully in class. I highly recommend this professor, especially for women!

be prepared to spend money on like 5 books. her class is easy to pass if you don't work or have other things to do besides school. I dread joining the class because you MUST keep the camera on/participate. You actually have to pay attention because you get called out randomly. Dr Cat just wants everyone to know proper grammar, so take notes.

I've taken two of Dr. Cat's courses and loved them both. I have always struggled in English classes. She is a tough grader but works with you as much as you need to improve. Dr. Cat holds her opinion and stands up for necessary causes and has our back as she recognizes biases in classic literature while integrating historically less heard voices.

Do not listen to the other reviews. Dr. Cat is amazing!!!! If you're a feminist, I 100% recommend taking her. So what if she's opinionated? She is not "brainwashing" anyone; on the contrary, she is trying to unbrainwash people. She simply wants her students to succeed. She is the best professor I have taken so far. TAKE HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The worst teacher I ever met! DO NOT AGAINST HER OPINION because you would get C or below. Many pop quizzes online and can't open book to find answer. If you are taking her class, just drop it as quick as you can.

Lovely professor and human being! Very opinionated but doesn't ask for your opinion. Feminist and political talks are minimal and easily ignored. Super understanding, caring, and lenient with deadlines if asked beforehand. Teaches general wisdom for life and psychology. Loved her course. Dr. Cat is an excellent instructor for those looking to hone their craft. If you're simply looking for a grade with minimal effort, I would avoid this class. It is a "get out what you put in" kind of deal. Show up, engage with lectures, put modest effort into the reading and papers, and you'll do well in the class and notice stark improvement.
