She was messy, confusing and seemed to never help. She replaced my original teacher who got sick and my grade instantly declined. Homework assignments were scattered and it was very difficult to know what was going on in the class. Read the book before class and meet with her personally. She's a nice person, but a bad teacher.
Ms. Frazee is very nice; however, she can be disorganized. She is willing to help, and you will be rewarded for effort. If you want a clear, concise teacher, though, I would recommend looking for another option.
Basically if I could rate her with negatives I would. She's unorganized, doesn't help at all. Gives way too much work. Basically makes you do everything on your own online, then has you come to class and do more work without help.
She is not helpful and doesn't explain assignments clearly.
Have homework online and worksheets almost every day, doesn't teach from the board, but it's easy to learn from the worksheets done in class in groups. Not a bad prof by any means, but not the cream of the crop.
This teacher is not as bad as previous ratings say! As long as you do the work and memorize how to do things on the study guides for each test, you'll end up with an A! Lots of extra credit too.
She is very scatterbrained, which is reflected in her teaching. Oftentimes, it was hard to keep up with her changing the course schedule and changing due dates. However, every assignment she gave was useful.
She was completely useless. When I asked her questions in class, she barely helped me. We had online homework/readings and then in class, we would have more homework based off the readings. She is very disorganized and doesn't explain much of anything. This class was extremely difficult. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!
She is very useless. She tries to help the class but then proceeds to get frustrated when they don't understand what she's saying. Half the time she doesn't finish the problems shes started on the board and makes us do them and wont explain how she arrived at the answer. Shes a nice person one on one but a terrible teacher in a lecture setting.
She is very confusing and doesn't explain the class work.
She seems to be too rushed. Often times she starts halfway through a problem and wont finish. Shes not necessarily a bad teacher or person, just doesn't flourish in a lecture setting. I'm at this point just teaching myself with every chapter.
Mrs. Frazee seems to be really scatter-brained. I struggle with math a lot and she doesn't help. She complained when she has to write out extra work on the board, but as a student who doesn't get math easily, I need to see all the steps. I don't think I will do well in her class if she doesn't improve her methods.
She is a nice lady but she goes though everything fast sometimes and she writes everywhere on the board instead of just one place. She makes the way we have to turn in our homework confusing because she changes the set up on it every time. I am a smart math student but if it wasn't for my tutor, I would not know what is going on half the times.
I would like to point out I think Mrs. Frazee is very nice as a person. Math is not only my favorite subject but also my major. So being in a math class I don't like is a first. She is very jumpy with her lessons and terrible with blackboard. I used blackboard all for years of h.s. and never had so many issues.
received a full 5 on any of my homework. I have never seen this way of teaching before and afraid it is going to drop my GPA whenever this should be an easier math class. It is almost unbelievable.
Worst math teacher I have ever had. Gets frustrated when students don't understand how to do a problem even though she had never taught it before. Online homework does not get graded correctly, so she has to go through each assignment individually. I have looked into getting a new teacher, but all the other classes are full.
There have been numerous occasions where she failed to actually explain what we were going over. This is my second time taking the course (different prof. prior), and I didn't perform nearly this poorly. I've never actually disliked having a professor until after a class with them. It's only been a month and I already can't even stand class.
There have been multiple instances where she acts like you are putting he out, when you ask her to work out the problem because you didn't understand how she got the answer. Also some days she says we are going to be doing the work today(as in working out the problems) and then she never even shows us how to work them out the correct way!!
terrible teacher.. don't know how else to put it..
She's a nice woman and means well but when It comes to my understanding of whats happening Im lost. We dont take notes, no guided sections, Im in her pre calc class and took it in highschool, If I hadnt already seen most of the stuff I would be absolutely screwed. Its so hard to understand the homework as well, She could at least write on the board
Awful professor. Complains when she has to explain topics and has to work out problems. Jumps around from topic to topic, and never gives complete explanations. I'm pretty good at math, but her teaching methods just make me confused and frustrated. She is by far the worst math instructor I have ever had.
Ms. Frazee is by far the worst professor at Ball State. She has absolutely no interest in making sure her class actually learns the material. She is incredibly scatterbrained and is very hard to follow. She also is very slow when grading homework, making it difficult to revise my answers before the due date. She is a TERRIBLE professor
Great teacher. This is college people, not high school. You're not going to be walked through everything. Try participating in class because over half doesn't. Quit complaining and participate in class before you disrespect a teacher. After you do everything she says and participate in class then you can be a critic. Good teacher, like her a lot.
Really bad professor . That's all I can say
Does not clearly explain. When a student has a question she does not always help, sometimes will flat out say no. Complains when she has to work out a problem to explain how to do it to the class. Good intentions I'm sure but does not help especially for those who struggle with math anyway. I am not learning because I am not being taught.
She seems like a nice women but is extremely hard to follow. I find myself lost 90% of the time even though my focus is all on the material during class. She assumes that every one has learned the material already so she reviews it instead of teaching it. I've never taken a cal class before so this makes learning the material pretty difficult.
Very unclear when lecturing, often does not fully explain math problems and expects students to understand material without it being taught. Homework is also always a hassle because she makes it complicated to submit the problems online, especially when students use the online textbook.
Not a good teacher at all. Does not like to teach and does not know most of the material
Frazee is a very confusing teacher. She is unorganized and kind of ditzy at times. She does not always grade on if the answer is right or wrong, but if you did the math the way she likes. I would not recommend taking her class.
I would say this professor is about average-- You're doing the work she puts on the board but when you get to your homework you don't really know what to do even with the examples she gives you. (As in, you don't know what section they even refer to.) A bit confusing at times and a bit of a hard grader but other than that she's fine.
all you have to do is show up to class, listening to what she has to say if you have a question ask her and she will be more than willing to answer. Yes sometimes she is confusing but when you catch her mistake DO NOT BE SHY TO ASK OR CALL OUT ON more than likely she will make a joke about it and help you out and the hw sucks but its improving
i think it is a great thing that she in a way makes you work for your grade. still if you show up to the class regularly and ask questions it shouldn't be to hard.
For me this class was pretty easy, she is there to help. She will go over problems or similar problems in class that were on the homework. You can email her or ask her before class for help. She's one of the better math teachers I've had.
Scatter brained, sporadically takes attendance, awful at teaching just writes jibberish on the board, stands in front of the notes she's writing, does not prepare for what is on the testsquizzes. If you have the chance to drop this class or switch profs I would highly recommend doing that. It is a struggle for my fellow classmates to keep a c.
She was awesome! I took 108 with another professor last year, and got a D+. Took it with her and got a B! she helped whenever you needed it, is really nice, and the final was super easy!
The worst professor i have ever had. if you aren't good at math DO NOT take her!!!
Very vague in explanations and gets easily frustrated with simple and logical questions
The book was online and provided for free. Lectures were online and homework done in class. Go to class and be sure to complete all assignments. She can be confusing, but it wasn't that big a deal. We learned things we will actually use in life, so that was nice.
This class is in a "Flipped Classroom" setting. So you basically learn the material outside of class and do bookwork inside of class. Not helpful at all. Stay away from this teacher and course.
She is terrible! The worst math teacher I have ever had in my life. She is inconsiderate and rude.
She was a decent teacher, but I personally would not take her again.
Has a flipped classroom but still manages to give homework outside of class. Her teaching methods do not make sense nor are they helpful. She has the attitude that she is too busy for her students and is very much on a high horse. Might as well go to homework help instead of her class because thats all her class is.
Very rude and gives odd grading. Like 3.75/5. Don't understand the homework, you get yelled at. Doing useless worksheets in class that no one understands. She gets upset when students don't understand her. Dread going into her class everyday 10/10 don't recommend.
I think that she makes the work far more complicated and goes over class notes so quick that you can't grasp anything. You are just writing the equations and not really learning what to do with the equations that she gives us. She also talks down to many students for not understanding it. Overall, if possible, find a different professor.
Great professor! She changed the way she taught the class starting with my class. Does a great job explaining the material and helps you when you needed. Gives extra credit every exam and if you finish the bookwork before class, then you don't even have to go!
She. Is. A. Mess. This prof. will walk into class unaware of what we did for homework and unable to instruct us because she doesn't know the material. She has been corrected by students on multiple accounts because she doesn't know what she's doing.
I took her for Math 108, which is a fairly easy course she just isn't good at teaching. She knocks 3 points off one question in the exams if you mess up on the smallest things, and if you don't understand something she just goes, "well if you don't know it by now plan on being here again next semester". please take someone else for MATH108.
Very rude, gave me a 45/100 on a project bc my writing wasnt up to par and had to bother her over email about getting feedback to fix it. Gave me 0s in the grade book for no reason and had to remind her on several occasions to change the grade bc I did the assignment. Avoid this professor.
She was very condescending. If you ask a question in the class, be prepared to feel like youre stupid. I felt like I learned nothing in this class and it was a big waste of my time and money. Will avoid her classes in the future.
Super easy class to pass, as long as you do the modules and turn in assignments you will pass.
Had Frazee for Math 108 my 1st semester at Ball State, and within 3 weeks I was failing the class. School is already hard enough while working through Covid, and she in no way made it easier. She bullies her students, is a poor teacher, and isn't considerate. One of the worst teachers I have ever encountered, she hates her job and it shows.
Very rude and condescending. You can tell she really hates her job. The first time I ever spoke to her she was extremely rude. It was my first ever college class and her attitude really rubbed me the wrong way. If you hate teaching and hate interacting with students, why teach?!?! Avoid this professor!
The class could be fairly easy if she wasn't so difficult and inconsistent. She'll post videos for assignments and out of nowhere just stop then later during the year posts videos for assignments and doesnt even tell you about it. Her calendar setup is out of order and she is just all around unorganized.
Shes extremely rude in person and in emails. Poor response time if you messaged on email and or canvas. The class content is relatively easy
Very unorganized. She posts videos that would be so helpful, except they have cutting out sound. Quizzes have questions over uncovered sections, the quizzes in my lab do not correlate to tests, her tests are in inconsistent formats. Office hours are difficult. Such a frustrating course. Hard to do well if you arent a math wiz. Goodbye 4.0
This was my first math class I ever took in college and it was awful. She is very rude when responding to emails and when she speaks to you during class. The class it self is not hard if you are good at math or study. Do not take math 108 with her, try to get some else.
Extremely rude. Isnt helpful AT ALL. You ask her a question and shell tell you to ask someone else. Dont struggle or shell get mad. Definitely the most unorganized teacher ive ever had in my entire life. Everything is so inconsistent. I have no idea how she even has a job. Try to get this class with literally anyone else.
this was honestly the most miserable experience of my academic career
I had elementary teachers who were better. I figured I wouldn't have the worst teacher I've ever had in college. I think she's the one that needs to go back to school. It wouldn't let me rate her 0 stars or I would've.
Every day I wake up feeling miserable. I don't know why I'm here or the meaning of anything. This class haunts me in my dreams. This class puts my nightmares to shame. Why is this happening? Help...
Doesn't actually teach just shows you it for 5 minutes and expects you to get it.
Would give a 0 if I could. Try and get someone else. Tells us "You'll struggle with this" then doesn't help.
Never have I dreaded going to a class as much as I do hers. Math is hard enough but having a teacher get mad when you ask questions just makes it worse. Very unorganized and lazy. Try to avoid getting her for math.
Terrible teacher. Expects you to be a math genius. Can't ever ask questions.
My dearest Zachs, I regret to inform you ive dropped this math class & I have no other method of contact. I couldnt take the pain and suffering any longer. Please future freshman never take this class.
Couldn't have been more of a nightmare. I've never met a teacher that just hated her job as much as Catherine. I call her by her first name now because I don't respect her as a teacher at all. She would HATE if you asked questions, NEVER answered emails, NEVER helped, and NEVER taught us anything. It was all self learned through a website thats $95
Just read the other reviews. She's terrible don't take her class please for the love of god.
Prof Frazee is active in helping the students with any questions they have. The class is a "teach on your own and work on the assignments in class" based class. The work load is one assignment per class and the book is how you get the assignments; it is required. There are only 3 chapters (with one test for each chapter) and a final exam.
I think she's very sweet. she doesn't teach a lot, but is good at helping her students. She doesn't grade by answers, but by how you solved the problems. I find her class easy because I am a fast learner, but others may find her way of teaching more difficult. Overall, an easy class to pass and not very difficult as long as you do the work.
This professor will NOT answer any of your questions. She seems like she would rather be anywhere else than in class. Please do not take her class because it's the equivalent to taking an online course. You pay nearly $100 for an online text book that the entire class is on.
She's honestly not that bad, she answers every question you have. Short lectures, makes you learn on your own. Have to buy $85 book. 7/10
Absolutely terrible. Class is based on growth mindset and self-learning. She does not answer questions. One time she told us the wrong answer to prove that it's okay to be wrong sometimes, leaving more confused. Told class she doesn't care if they wear masks despite BSU COVID policy. So much to say, not enough characters. FIND ANOTHER INSTRUCTOR.
Terrible instructor. Discussed assignments over email and she answers with 1-2 sentences, and was practically gaslighting me at the end. Does not really help her students in class because it is based on self-learning. Understandable, but if your students are truly struggling, you should do SOMETHING. Doesn't follow COVID guidelines. Find another.
If I could've given her a zero, I would've. She skims through the notes and expects you to know how to do it and doesn't want to explain anything to you when you have questions. Sometimes she would gives you Fs on Canvas quizzes for no reason. Expect to teach yourself in this course or you will not successful. Whatever you do, do NOT take her ever!
She was extremely rude and discouraging. Very unorganized, it was easier to skip class and watch the online lessons than to listen to her sound confused about what she is teaching. VERY unprofessional and if you see a comment telling you otherwise, know they are lying.
I would love to say that in my class with Professor Crazee once the ENTIRE CLASS got the same answer yet she still said we were wrong. Many of us did the problem 4 or 5 times to double-check that everything was correct but no we were still wrong. Unfortunately, I still am in the class:( She doesn't teach but tells us which formula she likes best.
This is possibly the worst experience ive had this semester. Frazee (or Crazy as we call her) does not teach her students about math and the only reason i did well is because i have already learned the information in my senior year statistics class. she does not care if we get the information and frankly SHE DOESNT understand her own information.
Be ready to study all the materials yourself. Lectures are fast/confusing and your grade in the class solely depends on how much work you put in for study. She also has an attitude problem. I would not recommend her.
10/10 would NOT take again. Better as an online teacher. Laughs when you ask a question and starts out every lecture with "this is easy". She acts like it is an inconvenience for you to be in her class asking questions. Never gives a direct answer to anything. Very sarcastic and hates teaching. Ex. "Am I speaking English?". Good luck avoid her. <3
She has a whole struggle is good mentality and will use that as an excuse as to why she wont help you until you understand most of the material yourself. I had to teach myself through the textbook and HW all semester and its the only reason I got an A in the course. Homework every night, tests are 60% of our grade so try to do well.
One of the worst teachers I have ever had. So unorganized and does not teach. Had to drop the class to save my gpa
Frazee is very unprofessional, does not communicate well, will assume the worst in you and insult your character should you ever have extenuating circumstances that require her assistance. She accused me of harassment for simply reaching out about my own situation, so I am now awaiting a response from the department head. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
Would rate a 0 if I could. I honestly don't know how she still has a job. She told me that I should drop her class because "I'm not smart enough for it". Worst teacher I've ever had. The last good rating on this website was literally her, I saw her write it.
She is awesome ! She doesnt teach during class so that you have the ability to ask questions. I found this very helpful because last semester with my last instructor, I failed with a 18% having to withdraw the class. But when I got in Catherines class, I got an 89% on my first test. She is a great helper !!!
She is NOT helpful. She is NOT a good professor. She treats her students so disrespectfully that half of them refuse to come to class and complain about her. She wrote the good reviews on here HERSELF. She's one of those professors who enjoy the fact that they're so much smarter than college kids and like to see them struggle. NEVER TAKE HER.
I am not her biggest fan. She got mad at me when I was trying to help a student. Her tests are also very confusing, she says that the practice test helps but the actual test is nothing like the pre test we take.
There are a lot of negative reviews, but I didn't experience the torture others experienced. I quite liked Frazee. She is fair with grading. Even if you miss a question, you will still get the most points as long as you have the right formula. And no class Friday. If you show up to the 2 days a week class and do your work, you will be fine.
She is not a very good professor at all.
I really don't understand why everyone hates this professor, I think she was great! To be fair, she does have a pretty strict phone policy, but other than that she is very helpful with classwork. She truly wanted her students to understand the material and get good grades. As long as you treat her with respect, she'll do the same for you.
Honestly she seems like a nice person and she really tried to help me and others, but she just talks so fast and I got so stressed having her help me it felt like my dad. She also decided halfway through the year to give us at least 3 hours worth of work on top of what was already 6+ hours each week. So stressful.
She doesn't explain things good at all. She doesn't make sense half of the time. Just bad experience overall. Take it with any other professor.
I didn't learn a single thing during class, she never taught. We were expected to teach our peers even though we hadn't learned anything ourselves. Daily, we had to go write/explain answers on the board and she would say they were wrong or she didn't like the way you did it with no explanation of the answer or how to get there. Lots of yelling too.
She doesn't know how canvas works, but if you go to class it's pretty easy. I didn't really learn anything but it was a decent class. Everyone is always failing because she puts random zeros in, but she does care for her students.
Only take this class if you already know what you're doing or are good at teaching yourself. She's absolutely no help and doesn't teach material. Expects you to already know what you're doing and makes you feel stupid for not knowing. Assigns things with very little instruction, takes longer to figure out what to do than to do it. Never again.
First off, she made us buy an 80 textbook we had only used a few times. Then a month later said that she wouldn't be using it anymore. ALSO made us buy another program, (I don't remember what it's called because we stopped using it too). We didn't do any math lessons for over TWO months and she gave us a final expecting we would know the answers.
Avoid taking especially online. Good luck getting a response that is clear and fairly graded. You miss one answer and suddenly you get 10/20 or 5/20. Worked my hardest and still didn't feel good enough, but I passed. This is why math is hard, the professor.
The only reason my whole class passed is because she would have other students teach the material because she did not know how to. She would continue to call me up twice a week to answer questions and explain how to do the problems while she sat in her chair and complained about her other classes.
